awful teacher, hates answering questions. patronizing and insulting. talks to everyone like their stupid. why did he even get into teaching?

THE WORST CLASS EVER. Olguin is a horrible teacher. He doesn't know what he's talking about, he plays favorites, is very unclear about grading policies, and does not respect students in the least. AVOID!! AVOID!! AVOID!!

This teachers sucks, BEWARE. Chances are you will drop or fail.

Worst teacher ever in a endless bad mood. Dropped this class after 2 mo.'s. Doesn't know what he's talking about. Please take my advise and avoid this teacher so you aren't turned off of psychology because it can be an awesome class with the right teacher

Don't take this class if Art Olguin is teaching it. He's very hard on his students and is an extremely bitter man. He's not a fair teacher and plays favorites.

Not only was this the most boring class I've ever taken, he is also the worst teacher I've ever had. Don't waste your time or money. This is coming from a Pysch major.

He is by far the worst teacher that I have ever had. He doesn't take questions and just likes the sound of his own voice. He is always late to class. He walked into the final 15 minutes late and proceeded to waste another 15 minutes passing out papers before getting to the test. Very unclear lectures. Doesnt listen to students, or seem to care.

Frequently late to class, sometimes even 20 minutes! he's arrogant, condescending, unclear, unprofessional, and overall proabbly the worst teacher i've ever had in my entire life.

This man sucks!! I asked him to write this long hw question on the board instead of verbally telling it to us over and over and he yelled at me!! then wrote it on the board cuz he knew it was a good idea! he is an ****! if you take his class you will be very sorry!!he does not care about the students and likes the sound of his own dull voice!!

This guy was the worst teacher I have ever had. I have never gotten anything under a B in Psych and I got a C in his class. Always late and then keeps you late. His classes are so boring and pointless. He tells random stories during the whole class and never goes over the information needed for exams. Stay away from him at all costs!

terrible lecture

I was really interested in psychology until I took this class. I felt like I was in Ferris Bueller's Day Off movie; he has the most monotoned voice and walks back and forth from each end of the classroom looking down. I'm an A student and I failed his class. Hard person to go and talk to. Don't recommend taking his class!

I'm not a psych major but I took 100 just so I could take THIS class... I dropped it in the middle of the first lecture. He's THAT wretched. The psych dept. of sbcc needs some serious improvement. Run far away from this troll.

I HATED THIS MAN! he is not only damn rude, but no matter how much or how often you study, you will fail the class. after starting the class, I imediatly got perscribed ADHD meds (adderall) just to understand all the random crap he would say. After being completely dissrespected and humiliated in front of everyone, I dropped the class.

Horrible class and an even more horrible person. He teaches at way too advanced a level and doesn't explain topics well. He will belittle you if you ask a question and likes to use big words in his typed lectures to make himself seem smarter than he is. I hated this class and the teacher.do yourself a favor and take another instructor.

This teacher mocks students who ask questions and actually put up a list of people he though should drop the class.. their full names in front of everyone.. totally unprofessional and i came very close to talking to someone about it. I dont usually post comments but he is one deserving person of a comment. He grades his hwk harder then his tests

NEVER EVER TAKE HIS ON-LINE CLASS! EVER!!!! He is a horrible teacher, disorganized and not clear in what he wants from students. Even if you read the whole book and memorize it by heart it will not help you to write his exams well. The study guides that he gives before each exam or test are useless. do not take this teacher!

THIS TEACHER IS THE WORST AT SBCC! HE MADE ME WANT TO CHANGE MY MAJOR. NO MATTER HOW WELL YOU DO, HE WILL MAKE SURE YOU CAN'T ACHIEVE A GOOD GRADE. THIS CLASS HAS BROUGHT MY GPA DOWN, EVEN THO I DID WELL ON ALL THE EXAMS AND QUIZZES. THIS MAN DOESNT EVEN TEACH! HE'S TOO LAZY SO HE HAS HIS STUDENTS DO PRESENTATIONS WHICH TAKE UP THE WHOLE CLASS!!!!

I've had a lot of teachers in my life, and he is by far the worst one i've ever come across. You can't ask a question about what he's teaching or else he will talk down to you and treat you like you are inferior. He bases his tests off of things not in the textbook or his lectures. And some of the test questions he has are based on HIS OPINION.

Makes fun of students when they are struggling, very vague idea of what we are supposed to be studying, quizzes and exams are unnecessarily difficult, uses quite a bit of vocabulary not found in textbook

Terrible online professor. Asks questions about the text that come from one sentence out of one chapter and is never mentioned again. Study guides are incomprehensible. Asks essay questions on exams then marks you off for not answering a question that wasn't asked but relates to the question. A REALLY bad professor.

This guys is all over the place. He asks specific questions about topics that he doesn't even teach you the specifics of. He needs to understand that not everyone has a PhD in the subject. I think he needs to take some classes on teaching.

The absolute worst teacher ever! He caused so much drama in the online class, i can not imagine taking it on campus. His final was so off the charts and confusing, I ended up stopping in the middle of it due because I got a panic attack.

Professor Olguin was the most unhelpful, rude teacher i've ever had. Everytime I needed help on something, or was confused on the material we were learning he made me feel stupid for not knowing it and was extremely unsupportive when I missed class a couple times for family emergencies.

He's condescending, exams are too long for the time frame given, tests on material that isn't covered & never gives feedback. I also had a death in my immediate family & I missed a deadline. I emailed ASAP & he told me that to receive an extension, he'd need to see a verifiable death certificate which I couldn't get in time before semester's end.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Art Olguin is by far the most difficult teacher I have experienced at SBCC. I am not one to ever fail a class or give up on a class and I had to just allow myself to fail because there was no chance of succeeding. Tests are impossible and Art is extremely rude when you email him for clarification. Pick a different teacher.

Even though this was an online class I expected more help from the professor. The material on line was outdated and the study guides were uploaded to Moodle late even though I asked the professor twice to upload it. For the exams we had to use ProcterU which costs 25$ each exam, it was not clear that we had to pay. I would not recommend this class.

Assigns his online class 5 group papers throughout the semester where you have to cooperate with a group of people, video chat and write 10 page essays together.. not what people want in a online class.

Do not take this course unless you have a passion for psychology. Professor Olguins online psych class is ALOT of work. The tests are very difficult and it is nearly impossible to master all of this information in the summer time. Not to mention he doesn't have lecture videos... all he has is lecture notes. Don't do it guys! not worth it.

Demands to be addressed as Dr. He told me to cram for a test instead of giving me the same amount of time to study other students had, which btw in the reading of the chapter it said the worst thing to do is cram. I started this class to supplement my semester. I ended up dropping out and changing teachers about 2-3 weeks into this class. The amount of workload that he expects you to complete is absurd for a 3 credit intro to PSY class. He assigned a lot of videos to watch in addition to reading the chapters, there are also discussions you contribute to.

This teacher is one of the rudest teachers I have ever have. He is very short and stern in his emails and barely gives any help. There is A LOT of reading, videos, etc. Our assignments require a very little amount of this reading, video watching, etc. The good things about this class is the textbook is free and he DOES give good extra credit.

You better know what you're getting into when you sign up for his class. Every quiz/exam is a trick question. They aren't straight forward. This prof treats everyone is a psych major. TOO MUCH READING FOR AN INTRO CLASS. I have no idea how pulled an A in this class. This was not an easy A by any stretch.

I tried so hard to like him. I was nice, I tried to look past his attitude and energy. I put everything I could into it and it could not work. I felt disrespected.

Professor Olguin's class was, without a doubt, the hardest class I've ever taken. Despite my diligence at keeping up with the homework and reading through the massive amounts of textbook material and multiple hour-long videos, it was nigh impossible to achieve a good grade. Definitely not a class for non psych majors.

The rudest teacher I have had in my entire life. Spent the entire semester being extremely unhelpful, rude, and excessively mean. He is unnecessarily sarcastic and I would rather drop out of school than ever take a class from him again. I've had amazing professors at SBCC and he is by far the worst of the worst.

Im a senior & PSY major, trust me: avoid at all costs. Had technical issues during a test that logged me out after 2 mins. He gave me a 6/100 & never let me retake. Sent me a rude/disrespectful email when I asked for help. My advisor said he gets reported to the dean often for being inflexible- wish I had known!! Hands down WORST prof Ive ever had.

His caustic and sarcastic demeanor distracts from his poor teaching style. He assigns busy work and expects students to process everything through rote memorization. His dry lectures leave much to be desired. Though he assigned failing grades, I earned As on his midterms and final to prove he could not intimidate me.

Never take this class for online during quarantine. Literally for lecture its just powerpoint slide and his lectures are based from his sent emails without any zoom class meeting. So be prepared to do some self teaching cause its so horrible. Most of all is not considerate at all for a students outside circumstances.

Get ready to teach yourself if you're virtually learning. Pretty much the only assignments are reading and a few SAQ's before exams. Study guides don't help much so study everything just in case. The good thing is the subject isn't that hard.

He did very little teaching this semester only posting long written lectures to read and thats it. He will test you and be happy to take points from your grade but will not leave any note telling you what you did wrong making it hard to know what the hell he wants.

Awful, just awful. He seemed to spend more time talking about his credentials than he did teaching. A very tough grader with not much feedback given. I will say that he was flexible with a test I missed when I broke my ankle during the semester, but even that didnt save him in my eyes. Seriously, take someone else.

don't bother with this class, the professor doesn't put any effort into teaching the course, you need to read the book and take quizzes every week, but the exams are proctored and has very specific indepth questions that we never went over, this is an amazing subject to learn, but in this course, you don't learn anything

My friend(psychology major)warned me this class made her want to change majors. I wish I listened bc this is by far the worst class I have ever taken. Unnecessary hard for a introduction to psychology. I was excited to learn about psychology but it had completely ruined any interest I had in this subject. I advise to anyone to not take this class.

SO RUDE. I can't believe he is allowed to talk and treat students the way that he did. DON'T take him if you're not okay with being belittled and insulted. He called us 'confused' and said we're not trying hard enough. Tests have NOTHING to do with what we're taught. If they do, the textbook says one thing, but the answer is the complete opposite.

I did well, but my rating is bc of the blatant racism both within his prompts, and in readings assigned. This was back during Covid, but he had one sided prompts where students were forced to answer and explain why institutional racism against AA did not exist and were due to their own shortcomings as an ethnic group w/out room for other evidence.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! He will not let you makeup an exam if you're sick you will simply be given a zero, end of discussion. He's the worst professor I've ever had, nothing engaging, only material is the textbook, and all exams are HEAVILY proctored online.

Horribly rude when communicating, not understanding, he does not listen and replies horribly. His whole class is lectures, and not much work, other than group projects, so every assignment is highly weighted

So far this professor has been the rudest teacher I have encountered in college thus far. He is not helpful as his comments on assignments do not help to gain constructive criticism, rather they shut down any personal ideas on material. Do not recommend.

Awful. The professor gave no instruction, no course materials, no lectures, and the only assignments we really had were weekly quizzes and exams. He is a harsh grader, and the exams were remotely proctored. Take this class with Gina Bell instead.

This a 3 unit class but with book readings assigned every week and homework requires more than 30 hours a week of study. There are a total of 3 exams before the final. The quiz and exam questions are not well written and the proctoring software used for exams is broken and glitches often, affecting test scores.

I have never experienced disrespect by a teacher until this class. He does not care for his students and is not understanding of things coming up. He was rude to both myself and one of my classmates. I do not reccommend any of his classes to anyone.

It is to my understanding from information provided by the psychology department that this teacher has been barred from teaching on Campus. Enough said.

Zoom meetings are EVERYTHING to this professor, and he doesn't care what excuse you have, and he will NOT acknowledge it either, even if you told him 3 separate times what the issue was. Death in the family? he doesn't care. no excuse you'd better be there. Enough said, good luck with whoever has him.

Honestly, this professor seems to care little about anyone. I told him how I had an emergency and basically said whatever, like hello?? Honestly, there is so many Zoom meetings required, and the exams are not so great, they make no sense. There are many lectures and readings, and personally, his material is not exactly clear.

This is probably the worst professor I have had to date. His class is rather annoying, and grades are based on zoom meetings and discussions. No real lectures; everything is big blocks of text that deter your interest in learning. Do not recommend.
