He teaches us information that we don't need to know because it doesn't even have to do with the course. He talks psychological about everything and is way over everyone's head when he talks. Very hard to understand! Would not recommend!

I took him Summer term of 02 for English 2. He is very smart at philosophical matters. I don't understand why people say his class was so bad. The worst part was the darn seats. Sure the lectures get boring, but hes interesting and laid back.Stop whining!

Very hard to hear unless you sit up front. We only had like the few essays required(which were like pop quizes) and the final 10 page paper to do (which was very hard) so it was difficult not having many grades to work with. He is reasonable and smart tho

Worst teacher I have ever had... I didn't learn a thing in his class. The majority of the students were withdrawn half way through the term, the rest gone by the end. He teaches a very boring class where he lectures 100% of the time.
Lectures and gets off the topic. Is not clear. Starts babbling about nonsense in the middle of his lectures. makes you talk in front of the class while he "grades" your paper. Continue talking until he finishes and you're fine.
All you have to do to make an A is write a quality research paper. the rest is irrelevant. I liked him a lot.

ENC1102 is supposed to cover American literature, but Dr. Salmon never discussed it. He always talked about other things besides American lit. Only discussed it about 10% of the time, the rest of the time he mumbled about romance & Greek mythology. Odd!!!
I am a student now in the middle of the semester and I am making the choice to withdrawl. He dosent make himself clear at all, and lacks in communication skills. This paper, which is pretty much our whole grade, has almost no structure.

English II. Unorthodox teaching methods, but if you sit in the front row & ask for clarification, you will get a lot out of class. Read the assignments daily, otherwise your wasting your time. His teaching methods are designed to get you stirred up.
My God! -- this teacher is just very hard to understand & hard to deal with....the whole class has problems with him! When he speaks he sounds like he mumbles. He never speaks about the course topics & his tests are just plain out confusing & VERY hard!!

If one is committed to learn, study assignment before class and enjoy the interpretation of American Classic literature, this teacher makes class time very enjoyable. Those who don't get it, can not relate to interpretations.

Salmon is the best, my friend and I took his class this summer (we both suck at english) and both made A's. He is very organized and always willing to help his students. Very easy-going and funny. I suggest taking him.

This man is a HORRIBLE teacher. He does not have any clarity to his thoughts, and he rambles on and on about necrophiliacs. This man is a nice man, but absolutely crazy and you will learn NOTHING in his class and get a grade depended on if he likes you or not.
Naturally this course is quite easy, but Dr. Salmon makes it very hard. He gives us confusing topics that have nothing to do with American Literature which is the whole aspect of the course. Instead he just gives us weird, confusing topics to study! Also the class could barely understand his speech!
Very easy professor. As long as you read the assignments and do your papers and presentattions, you'll get a very good grade. Mr. Salmon is an entertaining professor. If you like a very laid back learning environment, this is the professor for you!!

Very interesting class. He is only difficult if you do not do your reading assignments. Only had one paper to write about one of six topics. Like any class you get out what you put in. He may ramble about certain topics but the class was never boaring.

This class was very easy. He may not have been exactly clear on what he was talking about at all times, but he leaves a lot open to your opinion. There was no studying required. The papers were easy. He final seemed impossible, but I got an A, and he was quite commical!

horrible. i took a summer course with him. he missed 8 or 9 classes including the first one.he mumbles and always focused on some depraved issue. at the end of the course he forgot to give me a grade and i had to hunt him down eventually and get a grade change.he didnt know my name.his office smells
I had to take this class twice because he accused me of plagarism and didn't even inform me of it! I had to call him over summer to see why I got an F! By far the worst teacher I've ever had. Missed about 15 sessions, and on the days he was there, I wasn't sure if he was teaching or mumbling crap.

his class seem very difficult at the beginning, but there is only 1 research paper, 2 in class writing, journal, and final exam. research paper is very confusing, but if you do good on the research paper, you'll be fine. easy A. but lots of confusion in his class.

Why is Dr. Salmon still teaching? No one in the class could ever understand one word he ever said,he mumbles & talks like he has a ball stuffed in his mouth. He also was not present at numerous classes & alomost always strayed away from what we were soppssoed to be learning in the course! He also makes the class very confusing & hard to understand!

eng I & II were super easy. He grades more on personal opinion of you rather than material, so get on his good side. In class we talk about pointless crap. There are only 3 main grades...2 papers and 1 final. A both times. Easy A, but super boring class!

His class was incredibly confusing. He did not show up for class on the first day, and did not explain why on the second. His syllabus and research paper guidelines are unorganized and confusing. You can't understand a word he says during his lecture, even if you sit in front...a lot of mumbling. I recommend not taking Salmon at all.
This guy was a horrible professor. The class requirements were confusing and it was nearly impossible to understand what he said in class. He had bogus daliy assignments and I was barely able to get a B, despite being an A+ writer in all of my other classes. Also be advised that he is extremely liberal and anti-Christian. Do not take this man!

He's the oddest professor you will ever meet. Try to sit in the front because he mumbles a lot. Ask him about how reacted when he took his PH.d exam. It will creep you out. If you want to know what he looks like...watch the movie "Monster House." He looks exactly like Mr. Nebbercracker. Creeepy.

The second that he started to talk I knew I had to get out of this class. I could not understand a word coming out of his mouth and I could tell no one around me could either. He said the syllybus was online and all of our assignments were on it. When I looked at it online it was just like when he talks. I understood nothing. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACH

Honestly, the man doesn't know what's going on. You can't understand a word he says and his assignments are completely unorganized. Half the time, you'll miss assignments due to not being able to understand him speak. Do not get this teacher- you will regret it when you're neck deep in assignments he never clearly assigned.

I took him a few semesters back and just thought I'd put in my two cents. First I would never take him again, I would of dropped it but didn't want to pay for it and I really needed it. Also he doesn't teach you anything,very unclear as to what he wants, and paper is hard. I tried to write how I thought he wanted, but obv not good enough for him.
Pretty humurous and is willing to negotiate anything. Going to his office will def. boost your letter grade. He has an online syllabus you can follow & only expects an 80 word daily assignment about your readings(less than a paragraph) and maybe 2 papers. easy A
Before entering the class, I had the pretense that this guy was prissy and preached about his beliefs, which is partly true but his comming-of-age stories are quite remarkable.He is extremely deep and philisophical. If your open-minded take this professor.
The first day of class I thought this man was crazy, but after a while you get used to him. As long as you do all of the work and participate in class you'll get a good grade. He is really a smart man, so if you listen when he's lecturing you'll get something from what he's saying.

I will agree that he is completely disorganized but you can convince him of anything (better grade, class off). As long as you try you can do well and if you make it through to the last day you have this sense of accomplishment like graduating from Navy Seal training. Only the elite survive. Despite what many say, Dr. Salmon is a very good teacher. I highly recommend him if you want to do actual school work and learn something. He is not most organized, but if you go to him with any questions you have you’ll be fine. Dr. Salmon is an excellent representation of university professors and what they expect.
this guy semms to be very different from the normal teacher. he's all over the place however, if you choose to stick it out to the end he makes it worth your while. I was one of three left in my class and I have to say I was begining to get worried however, if you ever need help. or have ANY questions he's ALWAYS there willing to help you learn.
Despite what some students say this professor is very knowledgeable, you may not understand evrything he's says but he will try to help you if you need help and he's very understanding and sympathetic to family and medical problems and will let you make up your work if you have a valid excuse and a legitamate excuse, you can pass,it depends on you.
if you're scientificly minded and have hence struggled in english, this is the guy for you! even if not, the guys a genius and an amazing teacher n know so much about so much!

I have alot to say about this guy he needs to retire thats for sure. So my class started with 30 people and at the end there were 6. He missed over 10 classes. english has always been my best subject. then i met salmon. He insulted me in front of the class, bashed me for my christian views, and accused me of everything under the sun. He missed class over 10 times and lost all my papers, the day he mocked me behind my back during an oral presentation i got up and walked out and gladly accepted the F grade.

He was the worst teacher I've had at SCC. The only reason that he is still teaching at SCC is because he has a Ph.D. Colleges love it when they get teachers that have Masters and especially PhD?s. The more degrees a teacher has the better the school looks as a whole. It helps boost the overall image of the college. Teaching ability not required!!

This was a great class. Homework was just assigned reading. We had quizzes about the reading and in class writing assignments. If you ask for help he will help you. Sometimes he does get off topic but he knows his stuff and he's funny. People were just lazy and didn't bother asking for help. He's willing to help you one on one. Easy class.
If you do the assigned reading and take notes, you'll pass the quizzes with no problem. He tells the class to start the research paper two weeks after school starts and it's due at the end of the semester. He gave us the questions and answers for the final exam and didn't even change the format of the questions. He really isn't a horrible teacher.

This class is what you make it! Professor Salmon sits at his desk all class and mumbles, but if you listen carefully, he will make you laugh. He's quite the character. If you read most of the material and write a good research paper, you're guaranteed an A. He's very helpful one-on-one and always has something interesting to say.

He grades alot on EFFORT. If you try, and dont succeed he will help you. He is hard to hear so sit in the front. If you are confused, ASK questions, stay after to ask for clarity. He doesnt "teach" alot which sucks, but this isnt high school, be an adult and ask him if you need help. He likes people that interact in class and will give extra credit

Mr Salmon means well but he is not a good teacher at all. He is quiet and mumbles a lot! He is frequently late or doesn't show up to class at all, and doesn't tell the students that class is canceled (we found out when we got there). He is extremely unorganized and scatter-brained. He grades well but it's a very confusing class.
If you want to actually learn something in English 2, then DON'T take this professor. However, if you want to waste your time and money, and get other things done in that class then go right ahead and take it. I honeslty don't know why this man is still teaching.
Not a bad professor, very smart, just really hard to understand because he mumbles. Not a hard class, just pay attention, read the material, and participate. He gives credit for participating in class. If you studying the material, and write well, you will pass with an easy grade.
Mr.Salmon's class is SUPER easy. All you have to do is read the poems he assigns for random pop quizzes & do your research paper. Easy grader & gives extra credit points for answering questions in class. Class time is mainly devoted to him talking about random stuff but very easy to pass. You have to attend class because he calls roll everyday.
Do not take this man. If you decide to take this man, you will be saying, "I don't understand." This will be referring to what he's mumbling, what he wants from you, and how you'll even begin to pass this course. No words can describe this man, and I do not mean that in a pleasant, heartfelt way; more along the lines as despise, hateful description

Really easy... just show up to class listen to him mumble, and work on the reasearch paper. He is a lenient grader, and he is funny at times. Very friendly, but I didnt really get much from the class.

If you pay attention you will learn in this class. There are a lot of labs to do, but he has videos on youtube that will help. He is pretty hilarious and talks about random things sometimes.
