he is all over the place. for get trying to take notes.
Stewart teaches by telling anecdotes about his own life, which can be interesting. He likes for his students to ask questions. If you do this, you can make an A.
Easy prof, but you will not learn anything. He talks a lot and shows stupid videos called Connections. Long Haired, Hippie-type, with a buch of tree hugging hippie stroies. Boring class. Useless class. Easy "A" class. Work answers all over c
A required course at Lamar that I am very disappointed in.
I cannot remember a single thing that I learned from this man's class. He's all over the place, all the time. Easy A, though. If you want to learn, take another prof.
Better than the other professors. Easier to understand, too.
This class is an easy A if you have one of the millions of tests that are floating around to study. Otherwise, you have to slightly work for an A. But needless to say, your neighbor probably has a copy of last semesters exams that she got from her boyfriend or roommate so dont be shy about asking.
Easy class. Doesn't show up occasionally. Lectures are pointless but try to follow them because they help on the test.

such an easy class. hardly ever shows up and the tests are take home. you can always find someone who has had him in the past to get the tests from because they are the same from year to year. i made an A!
he's crazy! so funny! I loved his class, learned nothing but made an A. I'd deffinitely take another class from him and would highly recommend him.
good professor if you study you can make an easy a in the class! kinda boring lectures but its philsophy what can you expect. but the material is not as hard as some think!!
Don't take him unless you know someone that had him before. His test are impossible to pass and he is the WORST teacher. He is one of those that expects you to know what he knows.....but that is a little hard cause he doesn't teach you well.
This class was horrible and the teacher is useless. I did not learn one thing from this class and it was a waste of time and money. Aviod him if you can.
pointless lectures, u will not learn nothng
tests are from the book he wrote. he is confusing during lectures.
Okay, i found the lectures interesting, but i didn't agree with everything he said-but don't agrue with him. Just say "yes" and nod your head. HW and tests came from his book. Some stupid busy work that annoyed me, but i learned a lot. Tests can be from left field-so go to class & read the book. I got more out of the class than i expected to.
I think the only reason 99.9% of people take this class is because it is mandatory. I fail to see how this nonsense will benefit me in the fututre, and to add insult to injury he has the nerve to take roll! His tests are hard. I read the book but it was so boring that I could never bear more than a couple of pages without feeling sick. BEWARE!
He's an a**.. He's not hard but has an attitude problem. he always combs his dang hair. he thinks he is always right.. No matter what u say, your wrong

If you are going to take phil. of knowledge, definitely take MATTHIS!! For logic, go for Stewart. He is an extremely down to earth guy that is always make you smile. He is kinda a shock at first cause he looks like he came from woodstock but you get used to it. Makes alot of jokes and tells the most amazing stories and explains many logic concepts.
dr. stewart is badass, take him.
DONT TAKE HIM!!!!BEWARE!!! all he does is talk and nothing he talks about is on the test. Test are impossible sometimes to past. His book is a pack of s*** it is hard to understand so it dosent help you.the only thing easy in this class is homework
he is a spaced out teacher. his lectures are always refering to charles darwin and human life span.. though sometimes his stories are very interesting. his book made no use to me but the answers for homework is in the book. overall boring but i made a B.
this guy was a prick, don't even think about talking to him after class because he will make you feel like a complete idiot. it seemed to me that he always had to be superior to his students and that anything a student said wasn't right. I suggest you dont take this idiot, unless if you want to feel stupid at the end of the day.
Very interesting and funny. People who don't like him don't get his humor.
He is really mean. I tried talking to him a couple times after class, he was sharp and mean and i wasn't even arguing with him. A guy in our class proved him wrong and Dr. S just blew up on him. The man is crazy and thinks too much of himself
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! --It's hard. He's argumentative. He is always right. Don't even bother! Lectures are pointless. Notetaking is pointless, unless you are some kind of genius that can piece together what he is talking about. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS! --I hear Mathis is great!
He tells lots of stories, pay attention because he will ask some questions about them on the first set of test. He tends to lose his place in his lecture. Study the handout and you can pass the test.
he started out very hard but further in the semester, i got alittle easy, gave good hmwk assignments, and tells good jokes
He rambles about things that aren't on the tests. Good luck.
Its really hard to follow him and take notes. I pretty much taught myself the things we needed for the test. He also wrote the book for the class and is very proud of it
Not Reccomended. He talks the WHOLE time about nothing that really matters. Taking notes is a struggle and very pointless. If your interested in a nap, this is the perfect class for you. Tests are hard and complicated. But all in all, he doesnt take attendence. But that doesnt matter... DONT TAKE HIM.
This class was the worst class. I did not like him one bit. He thinks he is funny which he isn't. He actually laughs at his own jokes. He is very rude and the class is pointless. I only took it because I had to.
HORRIBLE TEACHER!!!! he think hes funny, hes rude, nothing he lectures about is on the test. test are horrible. he thinks since he wrote the book, hes always right. he doesnt take roll untill the end of the semester.but trust me you dont want to take his class you will regret it just like i did.
Dr. Stewart was a great professor. His tests were pretty tough, but were in college; so get over it. He does crack some jokes at people, but what professor doesn't? Also, you gotta remember; the people that are talking bad him probably did not do that well in the class. I ended up making a high B in the class.
Stewart is very intelligent and he knows what hes talking about, but sometimes he has problems getting his point across. If you take the class you HAVE to read the book. Hardly anything he talks about in class is on the test, but all the test questions/answers are directly from his book. If you read there is no reason why you wont make an A.
he talks the whole time about his life and stuff i really dont care to hear about and im just confused on why he tells us some things. Tests come straight from the homeworks, and the answers on HW are out of the book he wrote. it's easy. I liked him personally, just his class made me wanna die. not literally, but you know.
He is the worst. the only way to pass the class is to get the homework. he is pompous and thinks he is right about everything. he shares pretty much every story of his life rather then actually talking about philosophy. you HAVE to teach yourself or you won't pass because his "lectures" are pointless. NOT RECOMMENDED.
He is a very nice guy regardless of what everyone else on here has said. Yes, hes a little full of himself, and at times hard to understand but it is because he is literally a genius! Hard to communicate with students at times, and forgets we are not on his level. Give supplement work for tests. I liked him alot and wuld take him again.
It was very hard for me to get into this class, and I don't feel like I learned a lot from it. He was only a jerk when people were disrespectful. Overall, as long as you read his book, do the homework, and show up for the tests, there's no reason to not pass. His tests are directly from the homework and he gives plenty of extra credit. I liked him.
Worst professor I've ever had.
This class was by far my worst hes horrible
Regardless of the long pony tail and beard I really enjoyed Dr. Stewart's Class. You will definitely learn that it was raining on a certain day in Germany and how Penicillin was invented but other than hearing repetitive stories the class is very interesting. Also as long as you show up, do the homework, and study for tests you should be fine.
great teacher do homework test come straight from homework
Class was easy enough. Stewart made a boring subject a little more interesting with plenty of stories and humor. Tests come straight off homework assignments but not enough time was spent on each concept. Overall, an enjoyable course.
Easy class if you read the books. Test come straight form homework, which is from the book. Lectures are interesting sometimes when he stays on subject. Made an A.
I took him for Systems and History (a Psychology course). He does go off topic a lot, but if you read the book you'll be ok. He also let us make up any test we missed. I got low grades on two of the tests and I still made a B.
This was my favorite class of the semester. Stewart's lectures are more like him telling interesting stories for an hour and you don't have to take notes because the test is over the homework. Easy A.
Dr. Stewart rarely stayed on topic & seemed to value his own opinions above all else. While his class is extremely easy to pass if you show up to class & study, his lectures are horrible to suffer through. I feel like I know less about Philosophy than when I started.
Ugh all the talking. Yes its EASY, but not sure it's worth suffering through aimless, redundant lectures. Apparently this is his opportunity to share his life experiences and opinions about everything known to man, ever. Attendance seems unrecorded but his assistants come in and check later in class, mark if you leave. Interesting at times. Don't!
This class is structured like one big conversation which makes it easier to learn. Colorful real life stories help you understand the material a lot better. Homework is from the book and tests are over the homework. No reason not to make a B or higher. Epic!
His homework and tests all come from the book and examples he gives in lectures. If you take a few notes and look over the key terms he gives you for the test, it is easy to get an A.
Dr. Stewart wrote the book--literally. He wrote the book in the same way that he lectures and when they combine, you can easily pass his tests and homework assignments. Enjoyed the anecdotes but he did have a tendency to get redundant and repeat them.
Dr.Stewart is funny enough, but very rude. He seems very annoyed by any question you ask him and does NOT like repeating himself. He highly values attendance and has very boring lectures. The lectures make more sense if you read the book. If you come to class and read the chapter you will be fine
His lectures made this the longest, most pointless class I've ever taken. I studied for a couple of hours before each test and still found it difficult to make an A, but it's a doable class if you need to take it.
Worst professor I've had in College so far. A bit pretentious and unclear in his ideas. Lectures can get you to sleep. If you don't read the book you'll probably never really understand what is he talking about. A good professor gets his students excited about learning the subject, this professor does all the opposite.
This class makes no sense. He is all over the place in his lectures. He wrote the book you have to read for class, sadly this does not help at all.
He is very rude! Have to read his book that he wrote to do the homework. He assigned seats so that he can take attendance.
Probably the worst professor I've ever had. If you miss class you'll probably fail He doesn't care what the circumstances are. Extremely rude to students I was afraid to ask him questions because I saw how he treated the other students. lol good luck trying to get a hold of him out side of class cause he doesn't respond to emails EVER.
He wrote his own book, which you read for the homework and tests. The tests are based off the homework questions. He lectures a lot and tells a lot of stories. He is funny and tries to make it interesting. I would take this class again, it was super easy.
Super funny guy, very blunt. His class is very easy. Homework is all off quizlet, which most of your test questions are straight off the homework. He gives you grades back very quickly, never go the full class time.
Great professor. Gives interesting lectures filled with all types of random trivia. Easy exams straight from the homework.
Grade determined by 4 exams, final & a 4-5 pg paper. He will make it sound like the paper is optional (it's NOT). Exams & homework are super short & come directly from the book, which is kind of a tough read. Attend lectures (even though they may put you to sleep) b/c attendance is a big deal (3 absences & your grade goes down). Very blunt style.
Mr. Stewart is very sweet and educated in his area --he wrote the textbook you "have" to buy. His lectures are long, but EVERYTHING is on Quizlet. Literally. Don't buy the book. Homework question's are on there, just find exams/final Quizlets made by past students and you will make an A without every really listening to his lectures.
Hes absolutely ridiculous. I have no idea what I was supposed to be learning in this class. He spends entire lectures talking about his personal life, telling the same 5 stories, and using the most irrelevant examples Ive never seen. The only saving grace for this class is that its easy grades and that everything is on quizlet.
Easy class
You will never know what's going on or what he is actually trying to teach, but all of the tests come straight from the worksheets. Also, all the worksheet answers are on quizlet.
His tests and homework are the same thing. He is a very rude professor.
This professor, in simple words, sucked. He took forced to rely to an email and when he did it was always a redundant answer. Be prepared to strictly learn from a book and videos which I still dont understand why it has anything to do with philosophy. I am now stuck writing a 3 page essay over philosophy and I NEVER LEARNED IT.
Pedant. Writes in the most verbose and unclear way possible. Videos and assignments are unrelated to philosophy but instead are an attempt to make him seem smarter than he is while he talks about thinks he clearly has no idea about. Waste of a class.
The course is super easy. Although the professor is rude and is hard to understand, the homework and tests are easy. The essay was somewhat of an issue, but it is basically extra credit so it doesn't matter.
Glad all of his exams are on Quizlet, otherwise, I would not have made an A. I didn't understand a single thing about his class. You'll have to buy his HW booklet, don't buy "his" book that he wrote. He's rude, so don't ask anything. Make a GroupMe. Do the paper, even if you get a bad grade, is better than no grade.
He never wants to help. You can email him and he is not going to answer your question. The whole class was based on the book he wrote and the Hw workbook you NEED to buy from school. Only good thing is that you are only graded on the hw workbook and some quizzes, can get find helpful things online, don't ask him to explain he wouldn't.
This class was easy. The homework and tests were straight from the book (or Quizlet, if you don't want to buy HIS book). There is a paper, however, for 65 points, and if you don't do it, it's -65 points, NOT A 0. There is basically no rubric, and even if you follow exactly what he does provide, he'll still grade it low with NO feedback.
This is the worst instructor I have ever taken online. He is very short, unprofessional and has no consideration for people who serve in the military. I wish I could write more, but I am only allowed 350 works and I have so much to say in regard to this professor.
This class is a joke The book isnt even anything you learn from. Its something he wrote and makes you buy. All homework / test answers are on Quizlet so thats a saving grace. He makes you write a paper and doesnt even explain it enough, and when asked for clarification he says read instructions again Sucks he is the only philosophy teacher.
almost failing because i missed submitting the hw assignments (due the same day)which were due by 1PM with NO leniency unless you died and came back to life to disturb his. i didn't buy the text book or the homework book, u do not need it. use quizlet.
He is not clear on the instructions given for his class , does not provide feed back , and all of your work has to be done with in a short time frame. Also Everything thing is due at 1:00 pm.
Easy class - most of it is on Socratic if you want to study. I did not get the "required" textbook written by him and I still made an A. The class is based on 6 tests. Then at the end of the semester there is a paper due, however if you do not write it only 30 points is subtracted from your grade (half a letter grade). Easy A.
Everything is on Quizlet if you want to study. It's only a 10-question test each week and you have to write a paper at the end. The most that you can get deducted for the paper is 30 points which is half a letter grade and that's if you don't do it. Everything is only open for 24 hours and is due at 1 pm
AVOID if possible. You are only graded by a few tests and a writing assignment IF you turn in the correct format. Each test is only open for 24 hours and you have to submit it by 1pm on a FRIDAY. It's really easy to forget. And then there's a paper that you MAY get points for if it's good enough. Don't forget it needs to be a PDF God forbid.
He was nice! test are online and unproctored! I didn't do the essay at the end of the semester and still passed with an A! don't make the class harder than it needs to be
I took this course as an online half semester course. There was only one assignment a week, had to watch a boring video and then read notes that he wrote. The test wasn't horrible and wasn't proctored. I feel he deserves a higher rating than a 2.5
Great instructor! Demonstrates expertise and depth of knowledge in the subject matter.
honestly his class is so confusing. you have to rely on his syllabus completely. exams arent hard. the instructions on the paper were overwhelming, hopefully he approves of what i wrote. (-30 points off your grade if you don't do it, grade stays the same if you do and its "ok", +30 points if he likes it)
