pretty good class, lecture material is boring but so is most accounting material. tests are not cumulative, all multiple choice & t/f questions. he is cpa certified, unlike professor ghoshe. 3 exams & no homework collected, but gone over.
He is SOO boring and towards the end of the semester he just gets LAZY. He came in late a lot (very rude) and he just rushed through everything and picked up his cell phone in the classroom almost EVERY LECTURE. His tests NOT that easy...very detailed and it is SO hard to listen to him teach
Very strange class.Doesnt go over hw.Just lectures for 1:45 with no break. He is a smart guy but hard to listen to at times.Loves his cell phone.Actually talks to clients during lectures on it, mad funny. His exams are Quite Difficult.Make sure you attend all his classes or ull fail.
Not the nicest guy, puts you down at times.Very smart and knows his subject very well.CPA certified. His tests range from Ok to Torture in numerical order meaning 1st exam is medium, the next 2 are GPA killers and no curves.Better get a 90 or above on the first one or ur hope for a B is shot.
you have to really read the book in order to get a good grade otherwise easy then other prof.
He is a good teacher. But you must show up to class everyday to pass because his exams are extremely tricky and questions not found in the book discussed in class. Good luck
Far From easy. Very detailed exams. No curves at all. You have to take notes and go to class because thats how to get a good grade. Good teacher though, wants you to learn auditing.Reading the book alone may get you a C at best.HARD FINAL!!
very very hard to get an A in his class because the final exam is horrid.
Knows his stuff & wants students to learn. Until he started to give his students a review sheet, for each exam, thought he was hard but now its really fair. He says he started giving review sheets during spring/05 and that he will do this from now on -- great! He is professional not pompus!
Very very good lecturer (but boring). He needs to spice up the material a bit and not make it pure auditing. He knows so much though. However all of his exams are VERY hard, especially the final. Make sure you do well on the 1st one which is not bad, 2nd one was medium, final was impossible.
His lectures are boring, but his exams are not hard at all, he gives review questions before each exam, and if you study it you`ll be fine. I would say A fine.
One of the hardest professors in Baruch College. I took him this semester and received C-. Very hard exams. You really need to study hard and you will get bad grades as a result. Definitely recommend to take other professors. This one is just horrible.
Easy exams especially when using the review sheets and the blackboard materials. Most of us get As & Bs on exams. I read the material so its not so boring
never returns exam grades on time!!! the exams are not that hard. did not really like the way he was treating his students. talks about working at Delloite non stop!!!!
I’ll admit the man knows his stuff. I just don’t share the same enthusiasm as he does for auditing. 3 Tests covering the WHOLE book, well spoken, a TON of reading, just listen in class. He does explain concepts way better then the book can. Recommend.
He is nice but can be catish to you sometimes. He talks a bit too much about his experience in Deloitte. You can bet he will mention their name more than 50x in one semester. His notes are good and he follows the book.
Covers the whole book, but focuses on only the important things. All in all, a very fair class and not as boring others say. Lots of theory and interesting facts. Make sure to complete his review sheets as if your life depended on it, at least a paragraph for each Q. Tests are tricky but following his review u have a general idea of what to expect
Nice professor but horrible final. Avoid him at all cost
The worst prof ever... boring as HELL.. There is no difference between him and a robot. Gives trickiest exam.. No curve... Avoid him... Can't teach & boring & tricky exams & no curve... Need more reason to stay from him???
He is a very rude, helpless & lazy professor. Taking him just like having a nightmare...
This guy is the WORST! Absolutely TERRIBLE. I wasted an entire semester and did not learn anything! I was schedule to graduate this month but Troast gave me a C- in 5400, and Zicklin is being an prick, they do not want to give me my bba in acct b/c of the C-, they say you need B- or above?? Troast runied my semester and will ruin yours too, RUN!!!!
Very RUDE!! Even one month after class, he has no people skills. Best advice, take someone like Prof. Friday or Carmichael. I would even recommend Cherney before this guy. Best of luck if you're taking him.. Watch out for his comments, it can make you cry sometimes even if you're trying your hardest to get the answer right...
This guy is like lurch from the adams family except smaller and wimpyer he is also rude, but hell he's my type of guy. I love this guy. Troast you rock, you rude son of an adding machine. Keep doing what your doing
A robot with zero people skills. He is rude, but if that makes you cry, welcome to the New York, now grow up! Great teacher, gives 3 tests (no papers). His test reviews are great! Reading the book is not even necessary.
He is useless and obnoxious. I'm doing well in his class no thanks to t. He is incomprehensible and 2 students in the class actually pay attention. The only thing that get me, and I imagine others, through the class is thinking about the chappelle standup where he goes to the barber after smoking. I see troast as what chappelle saw as the barber.
He is the worst professor. Not helpful at all. The test questions are confusing and not relevant to the homework or the class. He is rude and not helpful in the slightest although attendance is mandatory. No one in the class liked him at all. AVOID
The worst prof at Baruch. He is extremely rude which makes students not want to ask questions. I find the class easy b/c I know this stuff already. If you're new to accounting, don't take him. He talks about his personal life and Iphone way too much. Does not know how to teach & not a people person. In one class period, we had to complete 2.5 chap
OMG I think the students below wants to be spoon fed all the time or something. You cant expect the world to adjust to you, first you have to adjust to the world. And in fact, Prof. Troast is a nice guy who is and looks very professional and he's got humor(funny), That's one of the characteristics I liked about him... continued on top post
Cont.from bottom post) He runs his own CPA firm, got serious real world experience and he even goes beyond the scope of the text book to teach you concepts that you might not understand. He gives a very comprehensive review+Rev Sheet before every exam and will increase your final grade if your exam grades increase! He's a great professor, def.recom!
The single worst prof I ever had in my college career. Just because you own an accounting firm, does not mean you can teach it in a classroom. I did all the homework, always came to class and ended up with a B-. NOT a fair grader and does not welcome questions.
One of the worst teachers I have ever had. All he does is read from the text book. His idea of teachuing is to tell you to practice the h/w every night for 2-3 hours. Uh..I took a night class because I work so where do I find 2-3 hours a night for h/w? Heck - I could teach the class since he reads from the text.
he wrote all the nice coments by himself!!!he is the worst prof. i ever had. mean to students and talk for the entire class..he tells u to ask questions and if u do he makes u look stupid. who cares that he runs his own business..if he cannot teach.his classes are vaste of time...it's better to stay home and study..DO NOT TAKE HIM!!
talking to him - useless. email - even more useless. full of himself. cant admit mistakes. cant bother to submit grades in the end of semester. should not teach just work. bad experience.
He is very smart and know what he is talking about. He will answer all your questions. his exams are very fair (3 exams, 30% each). u have to study the textbook and participate in class.homeworks are very helpfull.if you want to learn smoething take him. if you are lazy and do not want to study do not take him. highly recommended.
Very mean and arrogant. Thinks he's the coolest person in the world, he'll emphasize that he's certified CPA 1,000 times! However, I agree he's good at accounting, very confident. As of teaching skills he's very boring and not really useful in explaining stuff. If you take him, study the textbook, much more helpful. Try, and good luck :)
He teaches like an accountant not like prof.Grading is fair 3 exams 30%each+10%HW.If you are not familiar with ACC be prepared to teach yourself by reading the book and doing theHW.Personally, I learned alot not cuz of him, but because I read the book everyday and practice the HW till I got it. Not an easy grade, if u want to be challenged take him
grading: 3 exams 90% hw 10%. Exams are reflective of homework and mid chapter questions. BUT his priority is his accounting job and not students. He knows his stuff very well but be aware if this is your first exposure to accounting. Start going to tutor from day one. he does bump up grade if he sees you improve.
grading: 3 exams 90% hw 10%. He's a GREAT prof. He tries to make the class "fun." You can teach yourself the material if you just read the book and do the HW. Classes are more of a review. Slacking with cost you dearly as his exams are not exactly easy. Do your work, it's college...
GPA killer. unreasonable and rude. hard questions (never covered)
great professor! explains material well, always open to questions and encourages to ask questions, test a easy - the base minimum of what you have to know. After doing all assigned hw it is hard not to know the answers on his tests. He does not step left or right from what you did on the homework and what you have to know. Bottom line: if you're no
He was not helpful what so ever. Horrible with e mails, no office hours and most of all he does not know how to teach. he would just read paragraphs from the text book. and he was very blunt and would insult students at times. I got an "A" in his class with no help thanks to him. Exams are straight out of the text book. so just read the chapters!!!
Worst experience of my academic life. He does not know to teach what so ever. this is an intro class that must build ones basic skill sand knowledge of the subject and he expects everyone to have prior knowledge. there are 4 exams all multiple choice all out of the book and accounting labs. dont dpend on him and do everything your self.
he didnt teach the whole semster. Just read the books and practice the homework if you get stuck with his class. HE does not reply to e mails and he has no office hours. Dont torture yourself by taking his class.
Not very good in teaching. Rude to students. Practice LAB is useful but not for most exams. Some exam questions were never covered in class. Help yourself at all times (Read the book). Professor is stumbling on problems from book himself. It seemed that he relied manly on his CPA experience. His unprepared for class excuse was "Busy tax season".
Professor Troast is very witty and intelligent, his classes are entertaining if you enjoy very dry, New York sense of humor (no, he does not insult anyone, unless you are insecure than you might feel insulted, otherwise you will enjoy it). However, he is not a good teacher for people who are beginners to accounting, he does not explain step-by-ste
Professor Troast is very witty and intelligent, his classes are entertaining if you enjoy very dry, New York sense of humor (no, he does not insult anyone, unless you are insecure than you might feel insulted, otherwise you will enjoy it). You do not a lot of guidance, take this class, you will get an A if you study a lot and practice homework + s
Professor Trost should seriously consider quitting this job. I know that must have sounded harsh but, he has little to no teaching skills. There are no office hours and he doesent reply to any e mails. Students come to college to learn not put up with his low life sense of humor.
all the good comments he wrote himself, i remember him saying that stuff in class when asked why his rating on this site is soo bad.
The professor just follows by his homework; does not teach at all. Homework helps a lot to understand the material and also it is 10% from the final grade. This professor has no office hour to meet just after the class. The content is not so hard but in the exams he asks a lot of theory and not like homework many exercises. If you are ok with m
Troast is one of the best professors at Baruch. He has experience, expertise, and is funny. He makes sure everyone understands the material. Tells you exactly what topics are covered on tests- no surprises. There are 3 exams, final isn't cumulative. Great class overall. Highly recommend
Unfortunately he does not understand the difference bet. being a certified accountant and being a good college professor.I would rate his teaching skill "0" out of "10" or out of any other number it is still zero! He might know acc, but has no clue how to explain it to students. He tries to be funny, but his jokes are silly too.Tests arn't that hard
I'm taking his ACC5400,and my friend is taking another who has a much better rating. But things turn out tat Prof.Troast is much better and easier... even though there're 6 chapters on the test, he tells you wat questions would be on the test, and sometimes page number. So u save time from not reading these minor and unsignificant topics. Nice prof
I really enjoyed his class. He knows the subject really well and makes the lectures fun (if you can appreciate his sense of humor). You have to read the book and understand the material. We had a guy in class who was asking questions non-stop. Professors answered and explain all of them. Tests not cumulative, he gives a helpful review sheet.
Highly recommend..really good professor and easy class!!
Wow really nice professor.
Class is boring basically most of the time. I am sure it's the profession rather than the professor himself. How fun can it be of checking people's work? The exams are awfully hard, I don't think the professor can ever ace the class. In fact, no one did and no curve!! Don't waste your time if you need an A, come to class and sleep well.
Great professor! He always open to questions and encourages to ask questions, test a easy - the base minimum of what you have to know. After doing all assigned hw it is hard not to know the answers on his tests.
The lecture doesn't have students to understand the material. The exam is not relevant to what we learnt in class; and the exam is extremely hard. He said he gonna curve, but didn't curve at all. He is open to questions; provides review topics for the second midterm and the final. All exam questions are MCs, about 60-75 questions per exam.
Needless to say, this class is just like self-study class. As a huge amount of course load, he just lightly touched most part such as main points that had nothing to do with the tests. I heard that he pissed off the students who used test bank a couple of semester ago. If you have any audit experience, you'll be fine. Otherwise, choose other class.
just horrible... he thinks that he can outsmart people with testbanks, but it only punishes those who actually study
Profesor is completely disengaged from testing material and actual test content. He teaches insightful points but tests you on very different material that was taught at class.
He keep saying this is 5000 level class, of course the exam will be hard. The exams are extremely difficult. His hw is easy not help for the exams. Lectures are long and not helpful to exams. There are 3 exams, rate are same. Remember read the chapter, Read, Read, Read!! At least, you will not die so ugly in the exam.
Unfortunately, Accounting Prof's suck at Baruch. Professor Troast is no different. He gives 3 very hard exams, and assign homework that's mandatory. However, doing the homework is a complete waste of time. He swears that if you read the book and do the hw you will get a good grade. Not true at all. Read a CPA book and questions if you want a B
He is a great professor!! Auditing is hard in itself so you should study hard for it. I loved his lectures, very knowledgable, very funny and makes sure to address any questions you might have. I am gonna miss his class
I would never recommend him. 3 exams, 33% each, this is what your final grade will be based on. Attendance and homework are mandatory but not counted towards the final grade. He doesn't curve at all. No single point. I studied very hard for this class and I regret taking this professor.
The worst professor I had at Baruch. I am an A student, and I got the first B from him. Exams (3) are from testbanks from other books, so it's hard to answers because the questions refer to other book examples and wording. HW is mandatory, but no graded. No curve. Comes to class unprepared and just go thru PPT from the textbook.
I feel the comments below are so unfair to Professor Troast. He is best accounting professor I've ever taken in Baruch. The first accounting class I got A on exam. Not because I studied, but his lecture makes me interested in audit. Best part is his expert in audit and super helpful tips for audit in real world. Fair exam, avg 77 dept requirement
Troast is a actually a pretty cool dude. Honestly, auditing isn't difficult at all. What probably made it difficult for some people was the fact that you pretty much have to read almost the entire textbook, since this is not like other accounting classes. That being said, you just need to read the text and you should be fine for the exams.
Auditing is the same no matter which professor you take: yawn-inducing and you have to do a lot of reading. He's knowledgeable about auditing. His class is really boring because he pretty much just talks non-stop for 100 minutes. Asking questions doesn't help because he gives really long answers. Just read the book!
Honestly he isn't as bad as everyone says he is. True, his exams are tricky. But if you put in the time and read the book you should do fine. 3 exams with no curve. Also his lectures are not that helpful.
Avoid him! He doesn't have a clear grading criteria, but one thing is sure which is this class is not based on ranking. the exams are very hard and tricky; I was an A student, but i got C- on this class. just avoid him and take other classes.
He will crack a lot of jokes in class, but does his best to sort of guide you through the textbook. However, YOU MUST READ THE TEXTBOOK! If you don't read, don't expect to pass, even if you attend every lecture. He can easily drone on in class, so it's also very easy to zone out.
Best Professor in the entire world. Don't listen to the hate from all the bums that didn't read the entire chapter or left class early. This is a great class with a great professor that helps his students succeed. Troast is absolutely brilliant, come to class with the book and be ready to learn, this isn't some bs class, this is auditing wit Troast
You have absolutely no business being in Baruch, let alone Zicklin, if your not going to take Arthur Troast's auditing class. The man is the prophet when it comes to auditing bc of his extensive experience and logical elegant teaching style. All exams are FAIR & straight forward, there are no tricks. If you do poorly its only your fault
Professor Troast is very "old school", he plays absolutely no games and his intention is to insure that you learn Auditing through him or through your own due dilligence. His grading criteria is clear, and he DOES curve your grade if you show improvement. Difficulty is 10/10 and it is not for the faint of heart. Even to pass, you MUST study a lot!!
Please avoid him. If you want to learn audit take another professor. He always reads from his notes and rushes through the book, nothing new.
I feel learning in this class, he explains material clearly, he explains how the material connect with the real business world, make us more understanding why we learn accounting , how to use it in the real life
Arthur spent his life working in audit so he goes hard for 5400 but for 4100 hes not bad. He explains concepts well is a solid choice tbh. Exam questions are just like the class examples. Fin 3 is hard regardless of your professor tho, but its fine if you study. its the second to last class in the major after all.
Im taking him for Financial 3 right now and I feel like im learning. Midterms weren't so bad. Very straightforward the way he teaches material. Since we are a small class, he knows all of us kind of well lol. But that works out because he sympathizes with us when we ask for curves or extensions on assingments.
Hes not amazing but hes far from terrible. He knows his stuff but he is very monotone and you'll get bored easily. If you can do your part and pay attention (stay off your phone) and keep up with the material, you'll be fine. I slacked off on the midterm because I was taking 5 hard classes. If it wasnt for that I'd have gotten around B+/A-
Hes pretty boring but I breezed through the midterms with As. Now I just need a decent grade on the final to finish with at least a B+. Just participate so he knows who you are.
INCREDIBLE!!!
Writing this review early since registration is coming up. He is sooooooo boring (even for ACC prof) we fall asleep. He drones on & on & doesn't stop for questions. He refuses to post slides to blackboard but will post 2, 2 hr-long old lectures like we have nothing to do all week. attendance is mandatory or you get dropped, but not part of grade.
Classes were boring and not useful. Take long time to grade assignments. Final was super hard, contained new information that were never learned in textbook/class
From his mouth: "You're not supposed to remember it but need to understand how it works" It's like asking you what's 6+9 and you answered 15 by actually doing the math in your brain instead of using muscle memory. Midterm/Final questions are very diff from homework, avoid unless he's the only choice.
Overall, the class was very difficult. It doesn't help that the lectures are nearly two hours long and boring. Additionally, the midterm and final exams contribute significantly to the final grade, so even if you perform well on all the assignments and projects, you can still end up with a poor grade depending on your test scores.
Imma be real, my grade would've been better but I slacked on HW so that messed me up. Look, its accounting, if you dont have a math background it'll always be "difficult" one thing for sure though, he knows his stuff. If you're confused ask questions. Can be corny at times w/ jokes but who isn't. DO HW AND STUDY FOR EXAMS. Group project fairly easy
The professor is very knowledgeable in the field. Be prepared to read ahead to follow along with the lectures,
Classes are extremely tedious and redundant, with him repeating the same things. Fair midterm, but difficult final - it's not as he describes and we're not given enough time.
3 Exams and participation. No homework but you need to read the textbook because auditing is hard. I appreciated his lectures, he discussed everything we needed for the exams and answered all of our questions. He is passionate about the field and gives great advice if you're interested in auditing.
I'd say the rating is all over the place but for 5400, hes a fair professor. Great personality and great person. Get to know him or just talk about random things, he's a funny person and teaches well. If you can't focus during the lectures, read the textbook and know the material. Exams seem rather easy but you need to know key subtopics.
He's pretty clear on grading (3 test and 10% participation). He's also a nice person who is very passionate about auditing. The exams are fair & it's not a difficult course however, you NEED to read the textbook and do not rush through it. Each chapter is about 25-30 pgs and each test is based on 9 chapters, this is what makes it hard.
Professor Troast is very passionate about accounting and cares a lot about his student's future careers. Lectures are kind of boring, but he makes funny comments here and there. Exams were online, but a little difficult and a decent amount of hw were assigned.
Best acc 5400 professor out there
Professor Troast is really passionate about teaching and his exams are fair and pretty easy as long as you put in the effort. Everything on the tests is discussed in class. He also holds review sessions and gives clear lists of topics to focus on for each exam. His teaching style isn't the most exciting, but overall, I think he's a great professor!
Doesn't like participation, loves to hear his own voice, boring lectures. Lets everyone cheat on exams. Loves compliments. As long as you compliment him he will let you cheat all course. Doesn't care about students at all.
Professor doesn't follow the grading curve from his syllabus. Lectures are boring and you basically self study the whole semester for this class. Would not take it again. However, as a person he is caring in the way that if you need help he will help you.
He is very tough grader. No sense
He doesn't care about his students. Repeats the same over and over again. Grading is so confusing and tough. Just take him if he is the only option if not you will not learn a thing in this class. AVOID him. The attendance is not mandatory
Tough grader
Doesn't care about students
Avoid!!! Took his class because it was the only option
Professor Toast likes to write his own RMP reviews
Just because he thinks he is “passionate about teaching”, doesn't mean he has the right to be disrespectful and not care about his students
Grade is based on 2 midterms and final. Exams aren't tough but to do well you need to read all chapters that are getting tested on. The professor holds a review session before each exam and tells you the exact topics you will be tested on. He's a fair professor but be prepared to self study.
Two midterms and a final that are manageable as long as you actually read the chapters. No homework means more time to procrastinate (or study, your call). In the end, your grade will reflect how much effort you put in—so maybe don't skip the reading!
Tough grader. His curve doesnt even make sense!
He isn't even a tough grader. It's what you get on the tests multiple choice. His curve was just straight points to everyone's final grades, nothing to be confused about. I just wish the exams were more cpa oriented instead of silly answer choices meant to trip you up. Otherwise easy if you read and understand the book.
In 34 years of being a professor, he doesn't qualify. He goes on and on about how he was a CPA for 35 years. He doesn't provide any materials and says "just use the textbook" expecting everyone to have went and dropped $120 on the hard copy. He also doesn't provide practice material, he makes you go into the textbook and cherry pick each question.
Professor comes to class underprepared. He stretches lectures too far, so far that we could not cover syllabus in class (he uploaded recorded lectures). He does not upload slides, expects us to read textbook. Does not provide practice mid/final, expects us to read the book. He gave us final grade without clarifying our score in the final exam.
Expects textbook reading before class, which is understandable. Explains ideas from his CPA experience, which I appreciate, but as the material becomes more complex it can feel scattered and confusing. Often sarcastic, which discouraged me from asking questions. Teaching style could be more adaptable.
Extremely boring lectures. Uploaded recorded lectures, but refused to upload slides. Refused to provide practice exams, so we had no clue what our exams would look like. Does not care about his students and left us unprepared. His lectures were so unhelpful that I paid attention in class and still didn't learn anything. No curve. Do not take him.
hes not that good basically reads off the textbook the entire class and is really vauge when explaning things. he lowkey has an attitude and doesnt do a good job in preparing the class for the midterm and final he just tells you to study the textbook
Doesn't curve at all
Taking this class was like being on the boat in the middle of the night with no lights. You feel lost, don't know which direction you're going to, hoping you would reach the shore somehow. Then there's Arthur Troast's voice saying just jump and swim to the shore. Please don't take him.
Every class, he would make sure to remind us he's been a CPA for 40 years, and his entire career progression. He would get mad that we don't ask enough questions-when asked, he would make a snarky comment, say thats a d**b question, or belittle people. 3 weeks into the semester, nobody asked another question. Try to avoid him and self-study!
WORST CLASS OF MY LIFE!! HE MADE THE FINAL ALMOST 50% OF THE FINAL GRADE WITH IS SO BITHCY!!
No curve given at all. Most of the class failed and he was rude throughout the semester and forced everyone to read the book and never provided the slides or any notes. Anytime we had questions, he would be like - read the book! He also spoke about himself and his family most of the class. At this point, I know more about him than the class itself.
He is not good at all! Please don't take him. Most of the class got a D and failed. He offered no curve at all and let us all suffer. He graded us on only a few things which messed us all up. And on top of that the final was worth 42.5 percent of the grade. Wish I had dropped his class earlier.
He is so sarcastic. All he does is talk about random stuff and put you on the spot in class by asking questions out of the blue. Doesn't care about anyone and lies that attendance counts and then doesn't even account for that in the class grades.
Worst class ever i took at Baruch. He didn't tell us anything about the data analytics project and then noone knew about it and basically got a 0. When asked he just said it was on the syllabus. Alot of stuff was on the syllabus that he didn't follow. No curve at all. The whole class failed. Stay about from his class.
Talks a lot about personal stories instead of teaching. When confused, he says read the textbook. Exams do not match lectures.
Felt like self studying the whole semester. No slides or clear teaching. Just told to read the book. Final exam ruined many grades.
Very rude and sarcastic professor. Makes students afraid to ask questions. Attendance did not matter despite what he said.
Grading is based on very few assignments. One bad exam and your grade is done. No flexibility at all!!
Most of the class did badly and nothing was done to help. No curve, no adjustment.
This class is a gamble. Grading is strict and unforgiving.
Final exam decided everything. No helpful review given.
Taking this class was a really bad experience. I struggled the entire semester and felt completely unsupported. All my friends in other ACC3000 sections passed and even got a generous curve, but our section got nothing. Same course, same department, totally different outcome. Very unfair and frustrating.
This class was one of the most frustrating experiences I've had at Baruch. Expectations were unclear, grading was harsh, and there was zero flexibility. It felt like students were set up to fail.
I put in real effort this semester and still walked away feeling defeated. The course lacked structure and clear instruction. When most of the class struggles this badly, something is wrong!!! And he didn't do anything!!!!
The environment in this class was uncomfortable. Students stopped asking questions because of the tone used in responses. That is not how learning should feel.
The final exam carried far too much weight and decided almost everyone's grade. There was no balance.
This class felt more like survival than learning. You are expected to figure everything out on your own with little to no support.
I always studied and I showed up however still failed. That is one of the worst feelings a class can give you.
I spent the semester anxious and confused. Instead of learning, I was just trying to survive the course. I would not recommend this section.
This was not a positive learning experience. Poor communication and harsh grading made it discouraging.
The hardest part wasn't the material, it was the lack of direction. It felt like guessing what the professor wanted rather than actually learning.
I tried my best, but the class made me feel like I was failing the whole time. That feeling never went away and in the end everyone got a bad score on the finals and no curve at all!!
This class felt discouraging because so much depended on the final exam. The expectations were never clearly explained and many of us did poorly because we didn't know what was required. Having one thing carry that much weight with so little guidance felt very unfair and stressful.
Bro would quite literally talk about nothing in class, tell us that answers can be found in the textbook and loved talking about how long he's been a CPA for. No one cares, no midterm review, no final review, absolutely nothing for the students. We had to go on our own and teach ourselves… pretty ridiculous if you ask me. And the final ?? WTH???
Avoid this professor AT ALL COSTS!!! Tries to sound encouraging in class but actually fails you with exams. Refuses to give a curve and very vague with emails.
Gives no curve at all, GPA crusher
GPA crusher, no curve at all
Doesn't curve your grade offers no extra credit and very misleading doesn't know how to teach!
to be honest I would not take this professor again just due to the nature of his class, additionally there wasn't any practice exam or final he kinda just said study the whole textbook GLHF. Also no curve which lowkey tanked my GPA.
bad professor. does not help at all. skip him if you can.
The final was weighted too heavy and hurt my grade too much
The final was almost half the grade and there is no curve. Avoid if possible.
Final was half the grade and there is no curve.
midterm 37.5%, final 43.5%, departmental project with no guidance whatsoever 10%, hws that took hours 10%. avoid at all costs
Got a good grade, but mostly because of self-teaching. No curve and he almost didn't finish the course material in his lectures. Avoid if you can.
got 100 on everything but the final, somehow still tanked my gpa.
just look at all the other comments
if he's your only option, still don't take him. It will hurt you more.
The bulk of class was him talking about how we should know something bc we took 2101 already. Talks about anything but the course material; condescending and tries to act like he cares. Refuses to post ppt's. Expects you to self teach by using the textbook and come in for questions so you best believe no helpful lecture. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
IF THIS CLASS IS YOUR ONLY OPTION, THATS A SIGN TO TAKE ONE LESS CLASS FOR THE SEMESTER!!! HE IS REALLY DANGEROUS!!!
Every other professor is better than him. All he does is yap about how his wife is french and that his daughter works in midtown at a nice firm.
Hitler was nicer than him.
He is so fake. Always talks about how he cares about his students and in the end messes us all up.
LOL was mad curious abt final avg and saw tons of new negative comments now Ik what happened on final hahaha. Ye he dont teach, he thinks he do, but he even get confuse talking to himself, and yap too how much he cares abt student. Did all study on myself end up the only B i have in Baruch. HOWEVER to be fair, he is a nice person, just not as prof.
Do not take. The final is weighted heavily, no curve, no cheatsheet, no formula sheet. States he is “sarcastic” but he's actually just rude. Did not get back on email. Did not finish lecturing in time for the final. Did not provide a mock exam. Told us to rely on textbook for everything.
Lectures are boring and you basically self study the whole semester for this class. Professor sucks with exercises and problems in the slideshow and exam prep because he looks at answer then help, instead of helping then look at answer. This is a major one: He massively lacks the planning and preparation. He was at least inspirational at beginning
