Doesn't really seem to know what he's doing. Boring, just-the-facts lectures. Throws so much info at you at once studying for tests is near impossible, and to add to that, his test study guides are the vaguest I've ever seen. Offers extra credit, but not nearly enough.
Seems very nice, and knows the subject very well, but it's all lecture, and other then the tests its all lecture. so if you need this class take it with Arrieta, because it's all based on the lecture if you show up to class you don't even need to read the books
Sit in the front, no problem. Lectures are chock full of info, and keep up on the readings other wise cramming will be a problem. Take good notes and he gives good study guides for tests. Welcomes coming to office hours.
The only advice I can give for this class is to go to every lecture. You never use the textbook becuase his lectures cover everything. The tests are givin a week before hand so you can study. Very easy. You just need to show up.
Lectures are super boring, I had this class at 8 in the morning and so if you are planning on taking this course with him...this is the perfect class to catch some zZzzZz's....and then get an fail even though you tried going to class.
this man is a talking textbook :(...he goes super fast, which means you cannot take good notes .......i recommend reading the textbooks and just take a nap during lectures, 'cause they are soooo boring, and if u can take it with someone else, do it =O.....
Definitely the best prof I've had since I've started college~ Very interesting and informative, and if you attend lectures, you're set for the tests. I suggest bringing a laptop: you're able to record alot more info that way (he talks a bit speedy)
You really don't use your textbook, because his lectures cover everything. He does talk fast, but he gives you a review for al the tests. There are 3 tests of course, 2 midterms and a final, and that accounts for your entire grade. Attendance is super important, but if you miss a day you can always borrow someone notes. Overall a very easy class.
I LOVED HIS CLASS. HIS LECTURES WERE VERY INFORMATIVE BUT HE DOES GO A BIT FAST. A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINED ABOUT THAT BUT WONT ACTUALLY RAISE THEIR HAND TO ASK HIM TO REPEAT. IF SOMEONE ACTUALLY DOES RAISE THEIR HAND, HE WONT HESITATE TO ANSWER. DONT BE SHY! HA BESIDES THAT, HIS GRADE ACCORDINGLY, TWO MIDTERMS AND A FINAL. HE KNOWS HIS STUFF!
I took hist 121 and 115 with him and got As in both. If you go to all of the lectures you don't really need to do the reading. but study the book before the quizzes and tests and take good notes. An easy class if you pay attention :-)
Good teacher but all lectures. You don't really need the book though it is helpful for reviewing things you miss. He isn't that hard, you just have to take a huge amount of notes.
very knowledgeable professor. always answers questions. grade is based on three tests. you have to buy a bunch of textbooks for the class, but really only one of them is necessary.
knows the information very well. no need to buy the books as long as you attend all the lectures. grade is based on 3 tests. tests are easy and based off the material gone through class. nice guy and good teacher.
Ok class. If you just scan the text a little before & even on your way to class you are ok. He knows his stuff and has very informative lectures. Covers everything in the book and is a nice guy. Easy class to cover GE. Take the class w/ a friend so you can split the book costs.
Good professor. Easy class. I took the class that was offered at the downtown campus. Sometimes kind of boring but still easy to be able to fulfill GE.
He's an OK teacher. He follows the book pretty closely, so you don't really need to go to class. He adds a little bit of his own, though, and shows many movies that are quite interesting. He's funny and a nice person.
Class was alright, fairly easy. He takes roll every once in awhile to see who is coming to class but you don't really need to come everyday. Quizzes every 3 weeks on the reading in the textbook. Class can be boring because all he does is lecture, no visual aids except movies like once a month. I recommend him tho
Good guy. Clear lectures and well-designed tests. He is helpful and always willing to talk after class. He is genuinely interested in the subjects he teaches, and that always makes for a better learning experience, in my opinion.
if u read the chapters u will be fine for the exams and test. his lectures are far too detailed for the quiz so i usually just read the chapters and did ok.
Professor Arrieta was always very helpful and passionate about what he was teaching. GO TO CLASS! He likes to show videos that can't always be viewed in the library. Gives out extra credit opportunities at the end of the semester too. Really nice guy
arrieta is the man!! by far the best teacher at sf state! he knows his stuff and makes the class fun. he jokes around and really cares for his students. if u need to take history classes at sf state take arrieta and no one else!!
pretty cool prof.he know his materials and teaches well and is easy to understand. there r 4quizes,1midterm and 1final.the quizes r in multichoice so is not that hard (altho i did poorly on the quizes). the midterm and final might seem to be harder cuz is essat based. but i think is not cuz he gives study guides so everyone could be well prepare.
arrieta is the greatest teacher!!! hes the man!! he always keeps his class well informed and interested in the material of the class. he really wants his students to succedd unlike other history teachers so he offers extra credit and curves grades. arrieta also is a very student friendlu teacher so he is always willing to talk or joke around!! :-)
Professor Arrieta is very fair and clear in lectures. Lectures are very informative, and interesting. I would definetly recommend this professor! The tests are not made up of surprises, it is actually stuff that was covered in class.
He is very informative and knows the material. He's wonderful teacher. He is very clear and friendly. This is the best History class that I have taken. Read your textbooks and be in the class.
good professor overall, read the texts and you're good to go
he is terribly boring. Speaks in monotone. very easy to sleep in the class. to do good on test have to read the book and pay attention in class. do not take.
Super nice guy, has somewhat interesting lectures, shows several videos. I took his evening U.S. Since Reconstruction and felt like I learned a decent amount. Very accommodating for us DPRC students.
Pretty easy history class, Arrieta will give you a study guide before each exam that is almost identical to the exam you actually take. His lectures don't go too in-depth, kind of similar to a high school history class, but you will learn and get a good grade if you do some readings every now and then. Grades pretty easy on the tests too
You probably have to be interested in the subject as much as I am to real enjoy the class as much as I did but I'm not a history major I just needed to deal with the requirement and this class did that and also happened to be very interesting.
I'm interested in history, but it can be easy to make it boring. However, Arrieta is animated (who doesn't love those hand gestures) and passionate. He tells it like a story. I have no issues with the exams or the quizzes and I haven't opened the book once.
Arrietta is a good teacher, however, if you are not interested in history going into the class, good luck paying attention to the daily lectures. There also was not a whole lot of class participation, so it's a lot of listening. It's really very simple to do well if you just pay attention and take notes. He won't kill ya.
Really nice guy. Very passionate, and extremely knowledgeable. 5 quizzes, 2 midterms, and 1 final. Extra Credit opportunities. Very fair grading. Interesting subject matter, all lecture with little discussion. He writes key words down, but make sure you write down specifics. Lots of hand gestures, and walking around class. I highly recommend him.
Great teacher! I was amazed at how much I learned from taking this class with this teacher. I don't like History much, but he sparked my interest in world history! We had five quizzes, two exams, and a final. Go to class, take notes and maybe open up the book to study and review for a short quiz (multiple choice and short answer questions). Enjoy
Arrieta is the best. He explains the topic so well that it is easy to comprehend. There wasn't a whole lot of reading or writing in the class, other than a a few quizzes, a midterm and a final. I also like how he wanders around the room and his use of hand gestures, though a bit too much, actually makes students engaged in the lecture. Art is great.
His lecturing is all over the place. He only writes key words down and never asks for questions or holds any form of discussion. Buy the optional text (it's really easy 2 understand & runs along the lines of his exams). He assigns an insane amount of reading (100+ a week sometimes) so don't take if u need 2 read to make up 4 bad lectures like me.
Outstanding instructor, Mr. Arrieta is passionate about history, and his lectures bring history to life. He gives exams and quizzes, which are very fair; plus he offers the opportunity to do extra credit film/book reports. I did not buy the textbook, but I went to all the classes, and did just fine.
read your book, go to class, take notes, and you MUST study if want to get an A on the quizzes and the exams. readings for homework, and an extra credit option.
Very good speaker. Lectures are clear. Need to use books and need to take notes. Fairly easy class.
AMAZING AMAZING teacher. His passion for history keeps his classes very engaging. Professor Arrieta is very interested in illuminating history for his students. He makes a huge effort to explain things clearly, thoroughly and presents a variety of point of views. I am stunned at how much I learned in his class. Hands down one of the top professors!
AMAZING CLASS! I was worried it would be so difficult and I would hate it. He lectures you take notes, go over your notes before quizzes and tests and you will do fine! quizes are 10questions multiple choice, and usually 1-2 fill ins. Tests have essays and multiple choice questions, you are given a study guide. piece of cake. LOVE THIS CLASS TAKE I
Arrieta is a great professor! He is VERY clear in explanation, friendly and open to student's opinions. The class itself was pretty easy. His exams are both multiple choice and essay. All of his exams are based soley on his lectures, so all you need to do is listen and take VERY detailed notes, and you will do good on his exams.
Arrieta is a awesome professor. Not only are his classes interesting-due to his passion, he offers extra credit and is willing to help any student just ask. I took this class last fall and actually planned my spring semester to take him for 114. 3 big test-essay/multiple choice, 5 multiple choice/filling and attendance make up the grade.
Fantastic! My favorite teacher of the semester. He tests off his lectures so if you pay attention you won't have to crack the spine on your books. I never openned mine and got an A. Engaging, interesting, helpful, and sympathetic to student difficulties.
He is a good teacher that is very clear on the material but class can be boring if you are not very interested in history. He takes attendance almost every day and there are in-class essays for midterm and quizzes. I found it hard to get an A, I kept getting B+ on my midterms and A-B on quizzes and got a B+ for my final grade.
He talks...and talks. No power points to follow and gather notes from. He writes few words on the board. No need to buy the books, just go to class and scribble some things he mentions. I stopped going to class after midterms and still managed a B+, however, I did not enjoy his class and the way he taught it. Nice man, though.
I enjoyed the class. For me, the hardest part was his quizzes. They're a bit tricky. Just make sure you read over your notes before the quiz. Midterm and final were both easy tho. Never ever read my textbook and still pulled an A but please note that I did attend class everyday. Cool guy tho.
arrieta is the best! his lectures are super interesting and if you take detailed notes you are good to go for the quizzes and midterms, def recommend!!
Arrieta is a really nice professor with a passion for his subject, if you are a visual learner it can be challenging because his powerpoints have few words and a lot more pictures. Attendance is not mandatory but it is advised to keep up with the readings. Also his quizzes are hard and there's no homework in the class. Make sure to take good notes
i highly recommend this class. his lectures are far from boring. i'm taking his next class for sure.
i loved his HIST114 class and will be taking his HIST 115. there's no reason you shouldn't pass if you come to class and take notes and do the reading. one of the kindest professors i've had.
This professor was amazing. It was a very early class and he made it bearable by providing very interesting lectures. He's not one of those professors that others love due to easy A's. You end up liking this guy because of the interest you find in the subject after he lectures on it. Take this class!!!
He is an excellent lecturer! Arrieta is very clear about what is going to be on his quizzes and tests. There are several 5 point quizzes and a midterm and final. As long as you read, you will do fine. You will struggle if you are a visual learner.
Really nice professor! However, you must study for his quizzes because they are only worth 5 points! And he has like about 10 questions on there. Take really good notes and do the reading! Because that will def. help you on the quizzes/exams. B/c he doesn't really enforce the reading. But great teacher!
When I first started this class, I was really annoyed. I thought it was really hard that he didn't have a lot of notes. He just lectured. But after 1 quiz I learned how to take notes and found his class very interesting!! He is very passionate about what he's doing! If you pay attention in class and have good notes you can def get an A!
Pretty nice guy that knows his stuff. You can tell hes dedicated to the subject and will do anything to make sure his students know the material. Quizzes are important in his class, only big tests are the midterm and final. STUDY for both, they will make or break you.
Arrieta is super nice, and it's really refreshing to have a History course that actually focuses on one subject (US History since 1600) and goes in order from there. The midterm/final are multiple choice & one essay question. 4 quizzes (not TOO bad if you study your notes). Just go, listen, it's easily the most enjoyable history course I've been in
Professor Arrieta was absolutely great. He is very knowledgeable, open to discussion, and creates good atmosphere in the class. Tests were multiple choice plus short answers which was fine - no tricks. Definitely take!!
Great teacher. Most classes he just lectures and he does not always take attendance. The class consists of six quizzes (worth five points), a midterm and a final test. He also offers up to 10 points extra credit.
This guy has such an upbeat attitude and he definitely knows his stuff! This is a class that you have to attend, to listen to the lecture and take notes. Quizzes are easy and the Midterms there is an essay which he doesn't grade too hard on. If you can take notes and come to class regularly I'd definitely recommend him!
I took him for Hist 114 and then for History of Women in Latin America. He's one of my favorite professors at SFSU. He's hilarious and really passionate. There were a lot of papers but they were interesting and he's not a very tough grader. Awesome professor, awesome class. I wish he would teach more upper division classes.
This man goes in my book of favorite professors. He had excellent choices in the books he assigned and the discussions were very engaging and interesting. I wrote 4 papers in the class, including two midterms and a final. Very fair grading. You need to do some reading in the class, but of the 5 books assigned, i didn't read 1 of them but i got an a
Seriously one of the most amazing professors I've had at State. His teaching style is engaging to say the least. I have taken two classes instructed by him and wish I could take another. If you pay attention during lecture the textbooks are rendered useless. I love this man.
Great teacher. Quizzes very easy if you take good notes. gives you quiz topics the day before quiz so you know what to study. He does not use power points except to show pictures so if you are not that good of a note taker then maybe you shouldn't take his class. However if you are then I suggest you take him.
Hes awesome! He is open to questions and will reward you if you do the work. However he is kind of boring sometimes if you take him in the evening so take other action like online resources if you drift off.
He is GREAT! Absolute must he is very engaging and he knows his stuff. NO TEXTBOOK NEEDED IF YOU TAKE GOOD NOTES!!Easy straightforward quizzes, he gives you the topics in the previous class. Only uses PowerPoint for pictures he writes his notes on the board.
Very passionate about his subject! In-class essays are straightforward, a maximum of five pages, and he gives you a personalized one page response. As for the reading quizzes, they're very short, and don't have a huge impact on your grade at all. Basically, as long as you show up, listen to his lectures, and do the essays, you'll get a good grade.
Professor Arrieta is awesome, hes passionate about the material he goes over in class which for me made it an interesting class. I wasnt a history enthusiast prior to this class but this class was pretty cool. He's not big about dates at all. You have weekly quizzes a midterm and a final. He gives you a study guide for the quizzes, midterm, & final
Arrieta is a great professor overall and as long as you pay attention and take mediocre notes, you'll be fine. Not once did I open the textbook and I briefly skimmed over the readings.
He is a great lecturer and I really enjoyed his class. His tests are fair. Be sure to take excellent notes and review them before exams.
cool professor learned a lot and passed. take his class yo
His class may be easy, but he frustrates me! The class before the midterm, I asked if we were going to have a midterm review and he said that if I had any questions, I should come to his office hours on Friday despite the fact the midterm was on friday morning and he had afternoon office hours. He also yells in the class and it is not a large class
4 quizzes, midterm, and final. Quizzes are kinda hard and he makes them harder each time so def. study for them! His lectures are literally lectures, so be prepared to stay awake and listen and take notes bcus he doesn't provide them on his power points nor does he write them down. Mult. choice + essay on mid&final. He's very nice and fun tho!
He takes attendance. The class consists of lots and lots of notes, or reading the book, you really only have todo one or the other. Graded material's are in class mc quizzes, they are pretty straight forward but he will try to trick you here and there, a midterm(mc and essay), and a final(mc and essay). He grades fair but you must know the material
He is dedicated to his material. Lots of notes but all interesting topics. I love history so it wasn't a problem. In order to pass his class just write good notes and study. He also offers extra credit.
Cool guy but I think the reason im not doing so well in this class is because its super boring, never was my thing. I only took it because it was good around my job schedule.
Great professor. Easy to follow lectures. Go to class and pass. Quizzes are super easy if you go to lecture. Gives extra credit. Midterm is super easy quiz questions with an essay. Again super easy if you follow along in lecture.
Best professor I've had. As a senior at SFSU, I can honestly say I haven't seen any other professor with as much passion as him. He's loud and keeps it interesting! Not to mention it is the easiest A I have ever received. No need to buy the books, just show up, write some notes and review your notes before the test. DEFINITELY would take again.
The class is easy if you show up every day and take good notes. The quizzes are fair. He gives Extra credit so take advantage of that. Overall, I totally recommend his class.
His passion for history is what makes the class awesome! He is very knowledgable of the subject. There are 5-7 quizzes which are easy and he gives you topics to study from. The midterm and final consisted of multi. choice and an essay, which he expects to be 3-4 or 5-7 pgs long depending on which green book you have. Show up and take notes!!!
He makes you determine on your own what is important based on his lectures and will talk on a topic for awhile in class and then not quiz you on it. no study guides outside the midterm and final. no homework other than reading, he's passionate yes, but does he make it clear what I should pay more attention to? no. 10% extra credit opportunities too
He was an awesome teacher! Just go to class take notes, study off of those notes. No need for the book, but if you want you could use it to help you study. I couple of quizzes but he tells you what it will be on. A midterm and a final. AND HE GIVES EXTRA CREDIT ! I would totally recommend his class and take any of his other classes.
READ YOUR TEXT BOOK! Seriously! He talks about it in class once, the rest is up to you
I really love taking his classes. I took one last semester and found it to be really clear, engaging, and interesting. I decided to take another class this year and I'm really glad I did. He weighs a lot on attendance. His quizzes are pretty easy, I just go over my notes the day before. Definitely recommend!!!
Great professor. All quizzes are based on lecture, so go to class. He gives you a list of what to study before quizzes and is a very easy grader on the midterm. Overall easy and interesting class.
Easy class, don't bother getting the reading materials; since his tests and quizzes are based on his lectures. Take notes, a lot; since he expects that you understand his historical evaluations. Again take notes, a lot.
I wasn't too excited to take his class because it was a 3 hour but it ended up being my favorite class. He is really passionate about history and even though his lectures can be long, it's tolerable. NO HOMEWORK. There are textbooks but you can pass without them. Grades based off tests and quizzes (all off of lectures). Show up & pass. He gives EC
Professor Arrieta is a great professor and I can not wait to take him again in the future.
The best history professor I have had thus far. He is very passionate about history and delivers engaging lectures each class. No homework. He assigns reading but you don't need to do it because the exams are based off the lectures and he offers extra credit.
You won't need to buy the textbook because all the quizzes are based on his lectures which makes going to class super important. Your grade is based off of quizzes and a midterm and final but he also offers up to 10 percent of extra credit. Overall a great professor!
Arrieta is one of the most passionate professors here at SFSU. He knows his stuff and he always looks excited and happy to be teaching. I thought there was no way I was going to get an A in this class because I did pretty terrible on most of the quizzes, but the 10% extra credit helped me a lot. I'd most definitely take him again!
Class is mandatory; takes roll. Lectures are fascinating b/c it was like a history class wrapped around a ethnic studies course. Everything he talks about in his lectures are on his test/quizzes so make sure you don't miss class and take notes. Keep up w/reading which will reinforce the material lectured in class. In all, great class to cover GEs
I took his 3-hour long class which sometimes just felt like an overflow of information. Even though it was long I felt the lectures were really interesting, the quizzes really weren't that bad as long as you studied. You don't need the textbook throughout the semester but you will need it for the extra credit he offers.
This professor, without a doubt, knows his subject very well and you can hear his passion for it in the way he speaks. However, because his lectures are very long, it's easy to not pay attention. His quizzes are worded unclearly and his handwriting is sometimes messy. If you really want a good grade, go to his class. Otherwise, it's confusing.
Arturo is a great lecturer and he makes it interesting. 4 quizzes 2 midterms and extra credit at the end of the semester. No homework but lots of reading. Great class for the history GE.
No homework, 1 midterm, 1 final, and 6 quizzes. His lectures are sometimes difficult to understand since he doesn't go in depth and on top of that his writing is messy. There is opportunity for extra credit. Just be sure to go over your notes and pay attention to his lectures because sometimes he puts questions about things he talks about in class.
He's passionate about the subject, AKA the lectures are a lot of material. This is the time to learn how to take bomb notes bc that's what the quizzes are based on. Study guides are given for midterm and final, but its just key terms. The essay questions are identical to the one on the test. You can miss two classes, then you lose points.
Professor Arrieta's class was amazing! He gives really good lectures (although a little boring at times) and it's very information dense. His quizzes are pretty straightforward and the midterm and test are mostly essay based. Lots of chances for extra credit and is pretty generous at grading. Solid choice for your history GE!
Really great professor and was an essay GE class to complete.
His lectures are great and easy to understand. A super nice guy, and also willing to help. My advice is attend every class and take really good notes and to be honest, you can ace the quizes really easily with minimal effort. The midterm and final has a study guide you can follow. Plus he has extra credit in each quiz and extra credit for other .
Prof. Arrieta is a great teacher. You don't need the book since his lectures cover everything you need to know. He's very passionate about the subject which helps your learning. Just write everything he writes on the board and you'll pass.
Coo guy. Got an A. Skipped class a lot so I thought it would be reflected in my grade but guess not. He's pretty easy.
The extra credit saves lives!
Arrieta was a great professor. All you have to do is show up to class to get all of the notes you need. If you have a hard time showing up to class, this class isnt for you. And I repeat, YOU DO NOT NEED TO BUY THE TEXTBOOK. Ive rented the textbook for this class and Ive only touched it once. Only buy the short novels needed for the class.
Don't need to read the textbook as long as you listen and take notes in class. 6 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 final. He gives study guide for midterm and final, which is multiple choice and an in class paper. No homework
I've had Arturo for 2 semesters in a row, and I'm bummed I won't have him next semester. Quizzes are straight-forward and relatively easy for the most part. Very passionate and connected with history. Very professional, but that does not mean he is unwilling to help with any problem you may have. Ask questions at the end of lectures.
Class is out of 100 points. 4 quizzes each 10 pts, midterm 20, final 30, attendance 10. No homework, just lectures, and all tests/quizzes are on lecture notes. Offers 10 pts extra credit. I enjoy his lectures, but I know some people get bored just taking notes
Arrieta is very passionate about history and it shows through in his lectures. A downside to his course is that only 4 quizzes, 1 midterm, and the final account for your grade. He does offer up to 10 points of extra credit before the final. His lectures do get rather boring very quickly--make sure to bring a coffee to class
Enjoyable lectures. This prof loves Hist, speaks very loud & clear. Give study guide. 2 Quizzes, Exam consist writing 3 pg+ essay & 14 straightforward MC. FInal same as midterm, but with 5 short Q. Essays are worth 67% of the exam. To do well on essay, write as youre telling a story. You will learn & remember history by the end of his class.
Definitely one of the best professors i've ever gotten to take. He's super informative and you can tell he really loves and knows what he teaches. Reading is super straightforward and really easy to follow since he points out most of the topics on the tests/quizzes during lectures. Can't wait to take his world history class next sem!
He is a great professor. The quizzes include only the most important topics from lectures. All you have to do is attend class and take notes, there are just 6 quizzes and the lowest score is dropped, a midterm and final- and extra credit. Also! You don't need to purchase the textbook, it is all covered in class. He is a very nice professor.
Super straight forward and interesting class. 6 quizzes (lowest quiz score dropped), midterm, and final, plus extra credit opportunities.
this class was okay ish. Some teachers just dont click with everyone and this one didnt click with me.
I took the once a week class. He knows his history and expects for you too. Quizzes are about every other class day and are based off lecture notes and ask you specific things. Its mainly him lecturing the whole class, so be ready because his lectures can be boring.
The only homework for this class is to read. I didn't really read but the quizzes were mostly on lecture notes. So ATTEND EVERY LECTURE! His lectures were very straightforward and very interesting. I love this class! I want to take him again
Arrieta gives great lectures which makes the class super straight forward and a joy to be in. A few papers throughout the semester and no tests. Wish he would teach more UD classes so I can keep taking him.
Super nice, understanding guy but kind of boring class. It's just really long lectures and notes the whole time, so its easy to zone out. You really have to study to pass this class, because your grade is only based off attendance, midterm, the final, and quizzes, no hw. Quizzes are tough if you don't study, but he gives study guides.
Class is an easy A as long as you show up and take notes. Lectures could be a bit boring at times, but are detailed and very organized. Quizzes and essays are clearly outlined and are always based on lectures. Professor is very passionate about subject and is accommodating. Highly recommend.
I literally did so much online shopping in this class. I've bought makeup, shoes, groceries, etc. I didn't even read the books because I hate reading. I still passed with a B tho. Take hella notes and you'll be fine.
There are a few books (small) that you read throughout this class. You can get away w/just relying on lectures and notes but the books are worth it and will give you better info/quotes to use for the only assignment's which are a few 3-5 page papers throughout the semester. Since covid he uses recorded lectures, no zoom class required.
Super lecture heavy. The recorded videos would be long and time consuming but you truly have to watch them to gather the information for assignments/papers. Never purchased the required textbook and I got an A. But again, watch all the lectures and take notes and youll do great on your midterms/final.
very very lecture heavy. it's pure lecture actually. you have to watch 1-2 hour long lecture videos and he doesn't provide the PowerPoint he uses. you're only graded off the exams which should be easy to pass if you watch the videos.
nice, chill, kind. He is really a good professor !
His class was asynchronous and he posted all of lectures online. We has 2 midterms with 7 short answer and 2 fill in the blank then a final essay. His lectures are pretty interesting. He's really nice and caring professor.
This is my second online class with him. No homework just 2 midterms and a final essay.
He gave all the assignments all at once. The assignments were self-explanatory and the exams were fairly easy
He was pretty chill. Was extremely lecture heavy tho - at least 2 hours+ worth of lectures each week. Each week we had a forum to respond to but 90% of the grade was based on the three exams we took. Exams arent multiple choice questions so you must pay attention/take notes during lectures to do well on them. Overall informative material.
nice professor
Great Professor!!! Very lecture heavy. He only gives 4 quizzes throughout the semester. No HW, make sure to take notes and study a lot!!!
Even though you need to write a lot during class, his lectures are very easy to understand. Even without reading the textbook, as long as you copy what is on the board and study it, you will pass easily. There is homework but not heavy. Though it is required that you attend class always, as long as you have a reason he is easy to talk to.
Professor Arrieta makes history easy to understand and follow. His notes are only available in class, so make sure to show up and copy all the notes. It's a test-only class, but the tests aren't too difficult if you study the notes. I thoroughly enjoyed this class, as Arrieta shows passion in his teaching. The quizzes and exams require writing.
Amazing instructor!!!
Engaging professor who makes history lectures interesting. Quizzes and exams require strong note-taking, but unstuck ai is a great study aid. Worth attending class to understand the material.
Amazing professor. I took history 114 and history 120 with him and genuinely enjoyed them both. These classes are an easy A as long as you show up and take notes. There are 4 quizzes and 2 tests (midterm and final) but Professor Arrieta made it extremely clear what we needed to review and would post study guides for every quiz and test.
He's honestly a great professor. If you struggle to keep up or miss quizzes or exams, he will let you retake them, even during finals. So that you can at least have a passing grade or a better grade than you had before.
Professor Arrieta was extremely informed about the topics discussed during this course. The lectures were extremely heavy, and you had to be locked in every second of the class because he did not have a lot of information on the slides, just pictures and him talking straight to you. You just need to stay on top of your notes to pass.
Very easy class as long as you pay attention, amazing lectures every class. Attendance isn't mandatory but just very important to be aware of missing lectures and quizzes. He grades mostly on quizzes and finals, but they're easy if you pay attention. Very understanding and kind professor would 100% recommend.
Took this class to fulfill my lower division GE D2 and was an easy course. Each week there are recorded lectures to watch with discussion forums. There are 3 exams. The course is very straightforward.
