The first half of the Winter Term was totally a mess. The YorkU president kept postponing the date of returning back to in-person, then all prof, including this guy, postponed all their midterms to the date when in-person classes can resume. Everybody was stressed out during the pandemic, then he chose to make the midterm on the first day back.

This prof is terrible. I would rather drop my whole major than take another class with him. After I performed poorly on the second midterm, I reached out to him for advice on how to do better and he told me to get tested for a learning disability and consider dropping out. He is extremely socially inapt. That is all.

Does not post lectures OR slides, constantly insults students, does not answer emails or questions. Never have I ever had the displeasure of having a worse professor and such a horrible lecturer

Unequivocally the worst prof ive ever had the misfortune of having to listen to. he is incredibly foulmouthed, incredibly unprofessional and rude and in general the complete antithesis of a good professor. he utilizes no slides nor does he post ANY resources, does not answer emails and does not care for any of the students whatsoever.

A knowledgeable chemist, but as a professor is a joke. Zero respect to his students and takes little to no feedback from them. Passive aggressive emails and course announcements. Do not take this course with him unless you plan on learning all of the content by yourself and the textbook.

DONT take this profesors class. Lecture environemt is hostile. Your questions will not be answered if he deems them common sense. He's rude and dissrespectful. No lecture content posted. You will have to teach yourself through the textbook. He is knowledgable, but does not do a good job of relaying that knowledge through teaching. That is all.

Worst lectures I have ever seen given by a "professor". I have no idea why Dr. Jackson stopped teaching our class but I wish he never left. Dr. Orellana is very knowledgeable but had no care for his students and would discourage us every class by talking about how none of us were gonna make it in medicine. 0/10. Beware of chapters 7-8, its brutal.

He released marks for the 2nd midterm on the day of the withdrawal deadline. The class average across all sections was 50%. Notably, he only posted the answer key the day *after* the withdrawal deadline had passed. Not only should you avoid taking the course with him as a professor...you should avoid taking the course if he's the director.

He is one of the worst profs at York. He does not post lecture slides or recordings. He wants to teach without technology in 2023 but uses a tablet to teach his class. He takes forever to release marks. He does not give marks for correct answers on midterm regrade and instead takes off marks. DO NOT TAKE ANY COURSES WITH HIM IF YOU WANT TO FAIL.

Thank you, Professor Orellana, for making me miserable for the better half of a semester.

Please DO NOT take this course with him. He is the most discouraging person you will meet throughout your entire career.

Very tough grader, goes out of their way to make the tests tricky. Tests have concepts barely taught in class.

Unwilling to help students. Goes out of way to make tests hard, doesnt curve even with 40% class averages.

The absolute worst prof I have ever encountered as a premed and it's not even close. Avoid him like the bubonic plague. I used to like chemistry, now I flinch every time I see a periodic table. If I could save the world by retaking this course with him, I would hug my parents goodbye 0/10 wouldn't recommend

I can confidently say that this is the worst course direction ive ever seen in my whole life. No curve even when the average for his test was 40%, he is absolutely rude and needs to be fired and has no sympathy for struggling students and goes out of his way to ridicule them. I cried 19 times because of this man and I probably have depression now too from taking this horror course. That is all.

The course sets you up for failure. I seen universities that teach harder concepts of organic chemistry and averages remain very high. For 3 professors lecturing one course you would think they would coordinate themselves appropriately.

He wasn't my prof but he was the course director. I had to email him for something and he is by far the rudest person at York. I should have known from the fact that he ends all his emails with “that is all” lol. I have No idea he is as a lecturer.

-Around 70% of the final exam mainly focuses on one chapter out of nine, despite the course syllabus not specifying whether the final (that is worth 40% of the overall course grade) covers the content equally or not -Simply stating that the final exam emphasizes on one chapter specifically would have increased the average grade That is all.

Professor Authors chemistry course was one of the most frustrating academic experiences I've had. Despite studying thoroughly and completing every practice question, most of the class still failed—not due to lack of effort, but because of his poor teaching, unfair grading, and lack of support. I would never take his class again.

Did fine in the course but he's a horrific prof. That is all.

This professor's approach to teaching and assessment is extremely disappointing. On several occasions, he provided misleading information during the midterm and tested us on topics never covered in class. He is dismissive when students ask for clarification. It's best to avoid taking a midterm when it's made by him.

This professor was very disappointing. He didn't care about students and often responded rudely to questions, making it uncomfortable to ask for help. His attitude created a stressful environment, and his lack of support made the class harder than it needed to be. I wouldn't recommend him.

I went to his office hour to ask ochem questions. He told me to close the door. He mostly ignored every questions I had and he said that I should take off my Hijab, that I would look pretty with my natural hair. He told me there are other ways to do good in the course… Avoid this guy at all costs.

Midterm 1 was okay, but in midterm two he bombed everyone! He put something on the tests that NONE of the profs taught (optical purity), and it was worth 6 marks. So it dragged your grade for about 10%. Don't get me started on the exam- it's beyond hard. I almost cried just looking at it.

One of the worst professors I have ever taken, does not care about the students. If you need to take Chem 2020, please avoid both Arturo and Muhammad, as they lack skills to teach the material.

He is really rude; he yelled at the class during the lecture. He makes me feel I am a loser and trash.

He's honestly a terrible prof. He yells all the time and makes you feel stupid instead of helping. His tests are crazy difficult, and the TAs don't know how to mark anything properly. If you can, avoid this course with him.

I seriously do not know why he is teaching when he seems so uninterested in the course. He is very bland, makes more negative remarks than he expands on topics, & just exudes negativity. the course is 80% tests & 20% labs which is insane for such a heavy course, there could be weekly quizzes or smth to break up our mark but no. AVOID HIM!
