If you don't understand it he'll teach you so ASK QUESTIONS. Do the homework and review the homework before a test and you'll be good. Don't buy the book, just buy the access code
he's a great professor 3 test and one final. do all homework and attend all classes and you will be fine. he goes over the homeworks online. overall excellent professor and helps you out alot !!
Precalculus with him is a mixture of easy explanations and tough mysteries to decode. Do the assignments and homework, as the tests tend to be unforgiving.
Really good teacher, he was clear while teaching. No extra credit available and only gave out 3 exams plus final. Definitely must do homework and come to class. Would take again.
Very good professor. He cares for his students, explains clearly, but you have to do your parts. Doesn't drop the lowest grade but replace it by the final grade. He encourages you to move forward. Highly recommended if you are not lazy
Good professor overall. Teaching tends to be boring but its hard to find a math professor who isnt. A few tests about 15-20 questions long which was my favorite part. Would take. Expect mad math xl's. Takes attendance in the beginning of class
This is one of the best professors I have seen in MDC. His lectures are easy and his method of teaching is good. Worst examples in class but easy ones in the exam. If you need him. He will be there for you but do not expect an easy A. You work hard and you see it in you final grade. Take him.
Grading of course is not balanced fairly, he only gives 10% for homework, 22% for final exam, and 67% for 3 exams. This structure is difficult for full time students who have a full schedule.
He really knows his stuff. And he wants his students to know and understand the material. He's incredibly helpful if he sees you really want to pass. Make sure not to miss and review your stuff. Tests are hard but pay attention and do homework. He doesn't give out a physical review; only online in course compass. Good prof, just pull your weight.
He knows his stuff, a bit fast but the online homework criteria he created helps a lot. As well as having created his own slide shows and test prep papers on google drive. He gives extra credit and replaces final with lowest test grade if needed, only if you have stellar attendance and do most of the homework.
Very good at explaining concepts. Can occasionally have a highschoolish type attitude, but overall a great professor.
Awesome professor! He loves teaching and he really is interested in your understanding of his class. He is latin so he has an accent but he is very easy to understand. Take him, if you attend class and pay attention you will get an A. He loves participation of his students.
He's a really good professor who cares about his students. He takes attendance at the beginning of the class, so you must be there and on time. He gives reviews for all of his exams and extra credit. He also assign online homework and quizzes that has a specific due date so make sure you do them on time and correctly. Take him.
Professor provides lots of homework and online quizzes that have specific due dates. The reviews handed the week before the exam is very helpful and many questions are alike. Make sure to participate and show interest in the class he will reward you and be helpful with extra credit if you need it. I would definitely take another class with him :)!
Take him easiest professor of life and I'm bad at math! He gives online exams with unlimited attempts for a week.
Prof Presa is a very nice and easy to talk to, attentive and replies to emails or questions quickly. Online homework and quizzes - multiple to unlimited attempts - great for studying for the tests taken in class. He shares a test review for each test which are very helpful. Lectures can be overwhelming, but is manageable if you study hard at home.
He is a good professor, his grading criteria is so good, you are going to pass you just have to put attention to his class because he just explain once.
I love Professor Presa, he is inspiring and in his office super early and will help you at any time you need. I honestly LOVE him and his teaching style.
He is a good proffesor overall, he will explain until you understand and likes to teach. The only thing I dont like is that he tells you that is enough to study the problems that he gave on class and homeworkd for the tests, but then the ones in the test are way more difficult and totally different. He also likes to ask theorical questions.
Professor Presa is a really nice person and kind... as a professor as well but I do not recommend him for any math, his lectures are way to heavy, he just talks and talks to the point that the majority does not understand. Hes tests are really hard as well as his quizzes. Do not take him.
He is a very good professor for you to start learning low level of math. If you major requires further math courses it will be great to establish a relationship with him. His grading criteria are helpful for your learning process on the material. He is very caring and explains good. Take him If you willing to learn.
Prof. Presa is a real gem. He explains everything carefully and makes sure that everyone understand. One of the best professor I've had at MDC.
For those who have to take math until the end of your major, take him. You will have to study, but he is on of the best prof at MDC. You will be prepare for sure.
Kind person, sharp mathematician. I am not really able to say if he is a good professor because I took it in the summer and he went insanely fast. There was no time to stall. Don't take this class in the summer unless you are great at math and love studying for 72+ hours before each exam. I saw most people fail.
He explains the topics really well but you have to study for his tests. The tests are not hard but he expects you to know how to do the work step-by-step. Overall, he is a great professor!!
He is sometimes doubtful of what he is saying but overall he is a great math professor. All of his test and quiz are nothing close to the actual final but if you go over the review you will find that the review is the samething as the test. Also attendance is everything.
Professor Presa is an amazing professor. He makes his lectures simple enough for everyone to understand and his exams are completely doable if you show up to class and listen to him. Overall, a great professor if you're the best at math.
Do all the online work and study from the 90 questions review before every test and you will pass.
Prof. Presa is a great professor. He explains things very well and I highly recommend him. Bit of an accent but you can understand him totally. 10/10.
Amazing teacher who has very good lectures. when you do the test he expects you to do it his way and show work in detail so just learn it the way he teaches and try not to do it in ur own way because he will only give half credit. Very caring and very easy to understand but tough grader
A great professor who emphasizes the UNDERSTANDING of mathematics and not just mindless memorization/rote learning. He gives good feedback and is easily accessible outside of class. Put in the work and youll do well in this class.
I took him in Sumer, to be honest, this class was easy for me and it was majorly because of the professor. He is really good but you should try to solve the tests in the way that he taught in classes. I think the reviews for the tests are harder than the test. 3 online quizzes, 4 test in class and a lot of HW. He'll reopen all HW and online quizzes
The worst professor you will ever have. He makes no sense, he is the kind of person that copy and paste the book on the board. He will never make it easy to understand he doesnt explain in clear English to make it easiEr for students, he will make you fail and mess with your career. Im an A+ student, math has always been my best subject but t...
DONT TAKE HIM... hes HORRIBLEEEEE
If you want to learn and not get sick over stress, dont take him, hes the worst.... DONT TAKE HIM
not only he doesnt know how to teach but he doesnt care about his students either... no extra credits, not responding to student's concerns, he just het overwhelmed and make no sense in class, DONT TAKE HIM
For your own good DONT TAKE THIS GUYYYY
This professor dont care about his student leatning, plus hes not human... the second week of class after we askhim to please let the homework oped for one more day Because we had to work and he closed it the day after teaching the lesson he said oh no this is a fast class so you cant not work, or do anything...
When a class has a 61% average on a tex what does this tells you? Someone isnt doing the job... in this case isnt the students fault.... DONT TAKE HIIMMM
Dont let his angel face fool you, hes an evil . He wont stop till you fail. His test are both multiple choice and free response, if you get the multiple choice right he will find the way to fail you with the free response questions
Pleaseee dont take him , he expects you to know everything he wont explain you when youre confuse, every time you ask him about something he makes it so intrigue like you where on a text, and says that for you to think, and he wont clarify ... THE WORST
My moral doesnt allow me to report him to the dean but i need to warn you. This guy will fail you. If you care about your career please dont take him, for your own good
AWFULLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!
Professor Arturo is a great professor. He cares about your progress, and several times he stopped the class to answer students's questions about college algebra material. Precalculus class is not intermediate algebra, so would be necessary that you dedicate time to do your HW. However, as a teacher he is available during office hours to help you.
Don't pay attention to these reviews. He is an excellent professor willing to help you all the time. The fact is that in Miami Dade College, some students expect to get A just by showing to class and stay on their phone.
I expected Precalculus to be a hard class, but professor Arturo made it easy. We had to do all the Math lab, but this is in all the math classes. However, he took the time every time to explain every doubt I had.
He is an amazing teacher. I was afraid I would not pass this class since precalculus it's not easy, but I finished with an A in this class.
This professor is fantastic because he actually teaches you the material and explains it very well. He gives good reviews before each test so you can prepare and know what to expect.
He is very professional and helps you with every difficulty you may have.
He is the best professor you can have!
I love this professor. He is really understanding and one of the best at MDC.
Don't pay attention to the bad reviews written by the same person. Professor Presa is a great professor. He is willing to help you out of class as well during class. He is always available to help you. His tests are almost the same as the reviews, more than that you can't have in a Precalculus class. I was afraid of Precalculus, but I got an A.
stay on top of your assignments and you'll be fine. he has long study guides but as long as you do the work and show up its an easy class, nice guy
Arturo Presa is one of the best Math professors I've had in my history at Miami Dade College. He gives numerous amounts of chances to finish the online homework (which include tests). His class is very exam heavy, the final grade in the class depended on them. I passed the class with an A. Make sure to do the study guide and you'll pass.
Professor Presa is a fantastic math teacher. He is willing to help and available for any concerns you might have. How we all know this end of the spring semester we had to do it online, I could tell the difference. Before that, only by going to his class, I was able to learn the content. If I could, I would choose him for all my math classes.
The best math teacher at MDC. He has great talent and teaching methodology. He gives a real class, he explains all the necessary steps to provide solutions to the exercises. It gives great importance to the theory, and they also offer good exercises that we can practice and learn in-depth in the class.
YOU WILL TEACH YOUR SELF EVERYTHING! BUY A BOOK FROM PEARSON YOU WILL LEARN MORE FROM THE BOOK AND TUTORS. ( HE DOEST NOT LECTURE COMPLETELY VIRTUAL ) WEEKLY TEST - QUIZZES - TONS OF HOMEWORK'
4 super hard tests and one hard final one attempt. 5 quizzes unlimited attemps and like 30+ HW with 20-40 questions EACH. doesnt do actual class so you have to teach yourself literally everything the video he posts dont help either. hes a nice guy and answers emails but still it was hard material with hard tests. he reopns hw & quiz end of semester
Overall Hes a great professor he knows what hes doing but youll be teaching yourself also. You have to definitely pay attention in class . Every homework, quizzes and test are on my Pearson. But on the 4 tests they are timed.
Arguably the better math teacher I have had. Participate and ask question whenever you have any and all will go well. If he grows to like your class he may offer extra credit. Exams are heavily weighed. Remember to take notes and study.
I have always liked math until I took this class. I was lucky I took calculus in HS and recalled a few things that helped me in this course. He is a nice guy I'll give you that but there was just WAY too much homework for a summer condensed term. Teaches the entire 3 hours with a 10 minute break... Don't recommend for those beginners to calculus.
This is the only professor I've taken, since the covid, who gives live lectures every week which has been very helpful. If you cant make it to the lecture, he records and makes the lectures available on blackboard. Definitely not an easy A, but he is always willing to help.
Professor Arturo Presa is by far my favorite Math Department professor. He really makes you work for your grade but he is also understanding and caring. He is ALWAYS available to answer any concerns you might have. He is the type of professor that would reteach you a lesson if that's what you need. He is extremely knowledgable! Amazing professor:D!
I took professor Presa during my summer semester for calc 1. He knows the content well and explains things well. He is not oblivious so be mindful of how you approach the class. He is honest and fair. This is the foundation for calc so there is a great reason why he could be a stickler with homework's and his exams.
Favorite professor, hands down. He's always available for office hours, and he'll spend hours with you if you need help. He truly cares about his students, and he notices who's putting in effort. It's not a class to goof off in, but if you want to truly learn the topic he's the best. My only regret is that I won't be able to take calc 2 with him.
Changed exam rules with only a two day notice. We were told we could use notes and desmos prior to taking the exam and that it would not be proctored but everything suddenly changed.
Horrible professor, avoid like the plague
Tests are 1 attempt only and proctored and count for 80% of your grade. Does not offer remakes for sick students or other emergencies and will make the tests full of the hardest questions that don't even show up in either HW or quizzes so there is no real way of studying to be prepared for them. Class of 30 students averaged a 40% on second test.
I wouldn't recommend taking him. I had multiple issues with him. I told him at the beginning of the semester that I will be out of town for a few days. Unfortunately we had an exam which is proctored, I asked if I could take it earlier and he did not agree. I didn't learn anything while taking his class and I had to teach myself the criteria.
I am not good at Math courses, but I learned many good things in this class. This professor is a caring person that hears you and always tries to help you. I had to miss one exam and he gave me the opportunity to take it in person. Everything is very clear, but you must understand all the concepts. If I did it, you can do it too!
This Professor is not that good with how the course material goes. I would not recommend, because you would not get a test review for 4 exams. There is also a final exam. All tests are proctored, and you are required to do the homework to finish weekly at a certain time. You need to also be in class and its mandatory. Would not recommend at all.
Grading scale is ridiculous: HW is 10%, quizzes are 10%, tests are 80%! I've never had a class where all tests were weighted so high! All tests are proctored & lectures are slow where he talks to himself as he solves problems. Be ready to self-teach and use the Pearson study plan. He will replace the lowest test grade with the grade from the final.
This class is definitely tough, but doable. Prof. Presa teaches well and is responsive and willing to help answer any question you may have. However, the grading scale is pretty stringent with 5 proctored tests making up 80% of the final grade, so maybe steer clear if you're uncomfortable with that. Tests are difficult, but using Study Plan helps.
He gives so much homework and the grading scale is horrible! Highly don't recommend.
I took professor Presa in summer of 2022. His was class was online which made it challenging but professor presa really helped me get my grade up. He helped me during his office hours and gave me opportunities to bring up my grade. Highly recommend to take his class!
He's a great professor. If you miss a homework on MATLAB, he can you give one more opportunity to submit your homework. He also gives extra credits, so you can improve your grades. He explains the exercises perfectly so the students can easily understand. I highly recommend him.
He's a really good professor. If you want to acquire knowledge and improve your understanding of mathematics, you must take his classes. He is that professor who helps you a lot if you don't understand a topic. His teaching methods are the best because he explains step by step each problem, and also he gives you some extra exercises to practice.
This is an amazing professor. He is a really caring person who you can tell knows what he is talking about. I was failing this class but because I reached out and explained my situation he worked with me to pass. He puts time and effort into his lectures and students. If you offer him respect he will do the same thing. I recommend him for anyone.
Nice professor, just be ready to study since the class can be a bit hard
Great professor willing to help you if you show some effort. gives extra credit. Tests are very similar to reviews. Overall great class but be prepared for a lot of homework.
Professor Presa is a very good professor who cares a lot about his students. The homework is sometimes tough. He gives a good amount of extra credit opportunities. The only thing is that lectures can sometimes be boring. However, he explains the material very well and doesn't mind when you ask questions.
Prof Presa is really good, he gives opportunity for extra credit by taking the pltls which helps, just try to be early to class.
He know how to teach and definitely should be considered a good professor. Only thing to point out is his heavy accent. Better sit in front rows, otherwise it might get harder to figure out what he means.
Overall great professor and very understanding. If you run to any difficulty he is very cool and helps you out and also gets back to you very quick. But the 3 tests plus the final are overall 80% of your grade which is an insane grading scale.
Do not take this class online. There is an IMMENSE amount of homework. The lectures are hard to follow and YOU WILL end up having to teach yourself all of the material. Calculus 2 is HARD, Professor Presa is very nice and he does his best but online is a very hard medium to learn one of the hardest sections of math. Exams are 80% of the grade.
Overall, Professor Presa is amazing. However, do not take this course online unless you're brilliant at math or ready to spend countless hours self-studying. Calculus 2 is tough without a strong foundation in Calculus 1 and above-average Algebra skills. Exams (3 and a final) are 80% of the grade; quizzes and homework are 20%. Be prepared to work.
awesome professor!! theres 3 exams and a final + hw, but he's very flexible with assignment due dates. if he sees you trying to learn, he will def do everything in his power to help you pass. go to class, attend ptpl meetings, do practice problems in your free time !! definitely recommend him for calc 1 and 2:)
Worst lecture ever. Makes simple things so complicated. Speaks like a robot the whole class
He's very understanding and caring with his student, at first i got scared because its 5 credit and there's a lot of bad feedback but Im desperate to earn more credits, I did pass and he change the due date if you miss it or forgot to do it. I think there's 3 big exam and I missed the 1 and thankfully he did reopen. He's kind/nice just communicate!
Professor Presa genuinely wants his students to pass his class. However, if do not have any prior knowledge of Calculus -- you will have to put your head down and study. He is accessible for office hours and he gives 5% extra credit if you attend PLTL sessions across the semester. In regards to exams -- he is also flexible with retakes.
I had the privilege of taking a college algebra course with Professor Presa. Professor Presa is one of the most passionate people I've met when it comes to math. With that passion comes the expectation that you truly understand the mathematical concepts and not just memorizing how to work through problems. Tests have the most weight in his class.
Professor Presa has been one of the best Math professors I've ever had. I took him for Calc 1 and I wish I could take him again. He is very theory based, so if you are interested in understanding rather than just doing he is for you! He extends hw if you ask him and is good at answering questions. He is fair, caring, and I 100% recommend him.
The tests are graded very highly, the lectures are long, and it's fast-paced. I do not recommend if you are REALLY bad at math... You need to be a wizard in this class...
Dr. Presa has been one of the best professors I've had at MDC. I went to his office hours constantly and he helped me for hours. He is so kind and willing to help you pass. I am horrible at math and he gave me every way to pass. Amazing person and professor, he curves grades if he sees you are trying. Take him!
I had the honor of taking Dr. Presa's class. He worked with me and allowed me to retake exams for a better grade. Extremely kind and willing to work with you if he sees that you care. Because of him I was able to pass math where I struggle heavily. Lots of extra credit and go to his office hours!
