Good teacher. Very professional. Expect what you deserve. If you keep up and do what is in the course outline, you will be fine. Remember to start early in the Operations Management Diary!
This is one teacher you don't mind making fun of you if you do not have an answer to his question. Very fun class, and the guy is not shy about letting you know what he thinking.=)
Cool guy-enjoyed his class a lot
Great teach took him in the summers, could not wait to go to his class
He's a great teacher. You would benefit greatly from actually reading the chapters. His exams are challenging, but all questions are from the study guide and major concepts from the book. He may seem intimidating at first, but he has a great personality.
He is ok, if you want to do good in the class, you should read chapters ahead of time. His lectures are not very clear! Tests are not so hard, if you have kept up with the reading. The final is like a regular midterm, not so bad.
funny professor. have him once a week, but he knows how to keep the class up from falling asleep with his fun jokes. there are 2 midterms and one final(not comprehensive). he gives group and individual assignments but offers extra credit as well.
If you'd like to learn, this is the teacher to take, you will get the credit for your hard work. He is better than most of business professor in the business department.
Nice guy if he knows you. Funny sometimes, but boring usually. Gave hmwk but don't pick-up. 10 assignments with 1 extra credit book report. Exams are not comprehensive. He gave study guide, study from it and do your hmwk you'll do fine.
I thought his lectures were not very clear. For that matter he was unclear in what he wanted on the papers we turned in, and one cannot read his comments because his handwriting is go bad. He does know the subject.
Good personality not afraid to joke around in class. Tests can be difficult but use study guide and lecture slides and you'll be fine. Quiz at the end of every class. Does offer extra credit book report.
Loomba thinks he's the funniest man ever, sometimes he makes us laugh but others he's boring to hell. his exams are damn hard and time is not enough at all to finish, plus he rushes on the chapters so u won't understand anything from last chapters.
I took him over the summer and he was very difficult. Went over things too fast. He's not very understanding with working students.
I will not recommend this teacher to anybody. He does know what he is talking about but he is absolutely hard. There is no time to take the test and he rushed through his lecture. Do NOT take for the summer for that was one of my mistakes.
He knows what he is talking about but he is not the best teacher. He puts people on the spot and his final was comprehensive. Not an easy teacher.
Not the best experience in my college career. Knows what he is talking about for sure but is somewhat arrogant and rude to students sometimes. Tries to make jokes that are not even funny. Tests are mixed with all types of Qs. Not really much EC. The class is easy to pass but hard to get an A.
very arrogant. tries to make fun of u in class (but noboday laughs) one of the hardest 140 teachers at sjsu. im gettin A's and B's in my other classes at sjsu but im just hopeing to pass this class with a D- .
Don't take him, lectures are boring and he tries to be funny. He looks like one of Snow Whites 7 Dwarfs. BORING! Exams are not hard, just asks stupid questions. If you read U can get A. He thinks he's the best Operations Management person at SJSU.
he is a nice teacher but in his exam u must expect anything. i think u can find 140 teacher easier than him.
im ashamed to be one of his people after taking his class and seeing who he really is
I was expecting this class to be much harder than it was. As long as you keep up with the reading and pay attention in class you'll do fine. He is funny, and offers plenty of extra credit, plus lenient grading (partial credit given generously).
Attempts to make the class funny and interesting but does a very poor job. Half the class he is just reading from slides about the chapter. A full Saturday class with him is very difficult. Lots of small projects / writing with little clarification and expectation. Not very organized in class.
His in class explanations were very clear. just read the book and do the homework and you'll do well. I took the class in the fall 04 semester. Other than my group project partners were lame and useless, it was a fun class.
Great Professor. Comes across harsh at first, but it is just a dry wit. Very funny and keeps class interesting. Willing to go into detail to be sure that everyone can succeed (ex. teaching MS Project after class). Best professor I've had outside Engineering (and he is an engineer, coincidence?)
Best teacher ever.
The guy is a complete jerk. He thinks he knows everything and he makes you feel stupid if you ask him questions. Take him only if you want to waste your time and look stupid. His lectures were really boring and unclear. He should not be a teacher coz he's reeaaallly bad.......
I think this guy is totally funny. I love to laugh so he is great. I learned half the stuff from bus 160 in business 161B with doty so this class was a breeze. As long as you can write a stupid essay, do math probelms then this class is easy. He is cool about teaching about japanese kaizen management styles going outside the box to educate us.
If you give this class a legitimite shot you will be fine. To get an A: read the chapters, just have a general idea of the chapter, I didnt take notes. Do the HW, most important part. You can have notes on the exam so copy the formulas and know how to apply them. Do a nice group project and that is it, he is a good professor depite bad reviews.
HOT?? not at all! first of all, this class is verrrrrryy verrryy hard... exam are way too hard....... geeeeezz :(
Tough class, DON'T ever take him if you can. TOUGH midterms! mostly calculations.
EXTREMELY HARD professor to take. I highly recommend you take someone else. He is a tough professor on everyone. Really hard midterms and hard final which is comprehensive. If you like an unnecessarily hard challenge then this class is for you! Steer clear of this guy if you can.
long and boring lectures...2 midterms and 1 final..all multiple choice...
His class is not easy. However, it isnt much of his fault because the syllabus is enormous. He is good to student, giving some extra credits on exams and during classes, and grade fair in the homework. Though i did not get a good grade in his class, i still think he is an OK teacher. p.s. His lecture has a little accent, be aware.
Too much material in too little a time. This shouldn't be a class that you should take if you have other commitments. 3 of the 13 days were exam days; so he taught about 15 chapters in other 10 days. Exams are primarily M/C. I applaud him for teaching this course in 13 days, but I advise taking this class during normal session.
I took this class with him over the winter. Overall I think he is a decent teacher. Allows one page of notes and curves the exam. Some extra credit even though he doesnt like to admit it. His accent is not as bad as some of the other have said.
Dr. Loomba is a very knowledgeable helpful professor. He gave lot of interactive in-class assignments and made the learning interesting and experiential. Explains everything through relevant examples and makes sure that you learn something in the class. Highly recommended for graduate students and knowledge seekers, but not be for justgrade seekers.
Not a whole of lot of learning from his class. Interesting subject but bad teaching.
Overall a good course, but could be taught in a more challenging manner. The in-class exercise was somewhat mundane.
Write all the powerpoint notes on your cheat sheet, and you'll pass the class! Group project is EASY! Class is boring, does too much lecturing. Likes to make students look dumb at times. Only 3 hw assignements and they're easy. If the class is big, he'll add everyone! Never lets you out early. Horrible at explaining problems. As an accent.
His classes were very interesting as he gives very practical examples. Need to do couple of group projects and weekly HW assignment. Very helpful in explaining the topics. Horrible in time mgmt. though. 2 mid terms which are very easy and no Final exam. Term project presentation is your final. No accent problem, very knowledgeble prof.
Creative fellow. Makes adjustments as you go; refreshing and fun. 2 tests, mostly from the book, 45 multiple choice type & t-f, grades on a adjusted scale.
A very conventional class. The entire class is based off the textbook. I never go to class and I'm getting a B. He's a pretty funny guy. I liked him a lot.
Made the class interesting with real world ex's. Very knowledgeable about the subject. Being a Winter course, a lot of info was compressed in 3wks. 2 Exams, 1 Final (comprehensive), TF & MC=60%, Calculations=40%, 1 pg notes (2 sides). Final was a killer on MC part, watch out for trick ?'s (read them thoroughly). Would take during reg. semester.
Teaches really well. Funny and Serious. good mix
Funny teacher! Adjusts according to the class. Tests are reasonable, but overall interesting class to take.
He's funny and knowledgeable about the subject. His lectures are interesting to follow and assigned homework are helpful. However, to be honest, his midterm questions are off the chart...some of them are difficult and not related to any lecture or homework problems. Overall, he's helpful and a good professor.
Good teacher knows his stuff for his tests he allows cheat sheets the text book is not used that much 1 paper to write a good class for summer
it was easy. he's pretty funny too. was an easy B.
his class is boring, just lecture, the tests are hard because he gives you questions that he barely covered and it's not really on the ppt either. nice guy tho.
Exam not too hard, he is funny guy, very helpful. make sure do all HWs and extra credit, you'll be fine. Attendance is not mandatory. make sure you stay in class all the way, especially right after exam, he'll give you extra credit. Good professor !
He's a good professor with a sense of humor. Make sure to do all your homework because its worth 35% of your grade (which killed my grade because I missed half of them). Other than that, 2 midterms and final are hard but manageable if you do the homework, read the book and follow his lectures (I received Bs on all of his tests).
Could have made it much better. Talked about the textbook too much, did not add anything to a class that is vital. Did not enhance the learning environment. Could have stayed home and read the book for the same knowledge as attending class. Can improve his course and his teaching style a lot. Hope he does.
Awesome Teacher! He's really good with teaching Operations Management. Do all the HW because it's worth like 35% of your grade, 2 midterms, and a final. He allows a full sheet of notes front n back. Attend class to have a review of the textbook
Really good teacher, cares about students success. Allows cheat sheet, drops lowest midterm. Very clear.
Very Knowledgeable. if you read the chapters you should do well in this class. One of rare kind of SJSU professors, the ones that bring practice to class.
Dudes accent is a little thick. at times difficult to understand. 10 inclass quizzes, drops the lowest 2. three exams, non-cumulative, you get a 8x11 cheat sheet but the material is somewhat difficult. has experience in the field so he knows what hes talking about. case study weekend assignment for E.C. subject is hard so attend class andtake notes
Had Loomba for Operations Management. There are two midterms and one final. About twelve quizzes two of which he drops. Also has a side project where one must visit an operations factory or something. make sure you read all the chapters and attend class. the subject is kind of tough. He is a good teacher though and has a sense of humor.
Good teacher, but operations management might be the most boring class ever imagined. He teaches it ok, and cracks DRY jokes every now and then to attempt to keep interest of class. Reads off slides all class, weekly online quizzes, 3 online exams and online final
This amazing prof is my idol. he helps me when i need it and is very true onn what he does
I loved this class because he made it so easy. Online quizzes and exams are a gift if you have done a little bit of careful reading. He teaches well and gives a lot of examples from his experience. I enjoyed his class!
Loomba is the model professor. He sticks to the material and gives you what you need to pass the exams and quizzes, but he is also very experienced in the field and will give you a lot of insights. He focuses on the concepts, not much of the math. I highly recommend.
He doesn't just teach the text book,he adds real life experience to his lecture. He is very knowledgeable and explains everything in details. He is very understanding and helpful. Test questions are not easy, you have to read the book in details if you want an "A". I highly recommend him.
This class should be turned into an online class. Quizzes, exams, papers, etc. are all online. A lot of people stopped coming to class. The class was really easy! Nice professor...and humorous at times!
Online class. Never enough time for quizzes and final
The online class is much different than his regular class. He did not give enough time on the quizzes and final. He gives about 1+ min for each question so you really do not have much time to read and thoroughly understand the question; which is difficult for the calculations questions.
The cutest professor around. Turban is almost as beautiful as the course material.
Overall a very clear online class. Work and materials are all organized in such a way that expectations and directions are crystal clear. Quizzes are on a short time limit, but you get 3 attempts. 1 discussion, 1 assignment, and 1 quiz due every 2 weeks. 1 group project that wasn't bad. Not too hard, and I actually learned some cool stuff.
Not clear online class. I still don't understand the criteria. I got nothing out of operational management class. It was so confusing and his videos didn't really elaborate on anything. He has math assignments and the questions are beyond the examples in the slides/ textbook/ video. I asked him for help and he did not even try. Awful teaching
Very clear, very caring. Understanding, but firm. Obviously knows what he's talking about. I would recommend if you actually want to learn.
Harsh Grader, u need to follow rubric to the T rather than making a good essay. Quizzes are ridiculously hard. Tried very hard on first two modules b4 I had to resort to unscrupulous means to pass tests. Took forever to return topic proposals. Blamed on class for not going into groups. Online class makes groups undesirable. C'mon man its simple.
Okay professor. Three assignments due every other week, including a quiz, discussion, and short paper. Big assignment is the FSA, which is a big paper (6 pages-ish). Grades pretty hard I think, but I honestly did not take the book out of the package all semester so... Still got a good grade. I learned a lot from the lecture material.
Took his online 140 class in the Summer. Class is very well organized, four modules in total. The class is writing assignments and each module likely takes around 5-6 hours. Only quizzes, no exam or final. Might be a stickler for grading in the beginning, but eventually eases up. Would recommend for anyone looking to learn and get an A
Definitely not one of struggling classes for most students. In summer's class, 4 modules total and each contained 4 different assignments, which were doable, plus no exams. He didn't grade hard but it was kinda hard to tell what he expected in writing assignments. As long as you do and reflect what you learn in those assignments, you'll be fine.
Super chill online class. There are 8 modules throughout the semester with a discussion post, written responses, and an open note quiz each time. 2 weeks to finish. There are no midterms or finals. However, there's a group project and you have to pick your group mates and actually pick a company to report on and you have to travel there
It helps that I enjoy the material. He brings many exams which lightens their load on the final grade. Non-cumulative final. Entertaining lectures which keeps you from losing focus. Its simple, read, do HW, exams come easy with studying. If you are front of the class type, youll do well. Back of the class watching the Warriors game? Probably fail
Professor Loomba was super cool. Assignments are online and not too hard to complete, Exam curves, cheat sheets for the exams, and a group project that is worth 20% of the grade (for someone like myself who is not a good test taker, this was good).
Doesn't provide feedback on any assignment so you have no clue why you got less than full points. Can't view test scores on how to improve. Rude /Short in responses. The only upside is the Summer session doesn't require group work or a lot of effort towards the paper assignments. Just make sure you read and become familiar with random facts...
Chalo theek!!! Great lecturer and def inspiring. Visit his office hours to get to know him and you wont be disappointed. He may talk a lot but he cares about YOUR learning. Good prof
Prof. Loomba is very detailed and his practical experience transcends all industries. He is soft spoken but strict, shares many jokes and makes all lectures interesting. The course work was eye opening and very well taught. I will take any other of his classes in the future. 7 star teacher and mentor.
Took his online winter course for 140. For the small amount of time, the class was compacted and structured perfectly. Four assignments due every four days; exam, numerical problem(s), discussion post, writing post. One very doable project, and provides everything you need to pass the class: powerpoints, online videos, chapter notes.
One of the best structured online classes I've taken. Super easy to follow, clear guidelines & grading rubrics. Super easy to communicate with as well. This class was such a breeze! I really enjoyed the assignments he gave us because they were always super relevant to everyday life. I'd definitely recommend this class!
Professor Loomba is one of the best professors in SJSU. His material is straight forward, easy to understand and will help you learn a lot about the current business landscape. No finals exam, just a group project, so if you finish it early, you can relax during the finals week. Go to his office hours if U're taking an onlin class. He's a real gem!
Great professor, one of the best I've ever had, especially for an online course. The course was EASY and if you really want an A, you can easily do so. Group project is your final and it can be done very quickly. I honestly spent maybe two hours every two weeks doing work for this course, but it was interesting!! Great class!
You are given 2 weeks to complete a module. Modules have a written assignment, discussion post, and one test. I suggest starting the modules early. It's not hard to do but it's time consuming. Textbook is provided by prof. There's one group project; choose a place to do your report on early. Prof also grades a little harsh. OK option for online.
discussion prompts/quiz/short essays due every 2 weeks. group work wasn't so hard. no tests and no final.
Hands down a great professor! He is very reasonable when it comes to due dates and grading! The homework he gives is very interesting as well as the discussions he refers them to real-life situation! I would definitely take him and would highly recommend his class!
Don't take him. He is way too overrated and I honestly can't see why. He's rude. He does not allow ANY late work. When I say any, I mean NONE. It's important to have an understanding professor so you're not a depressed and stressed student. His work load isn't that much. 3 assignments due on Wednesday every 2 weeks. He's just an irritating prof.
Horrible teaching skills. No late work. Not understanding. Not lenient. Not that much work; 3 assignments due every other Wednesday. Tests are kind of hard and he uses lockdown browser. Easy to reach though, he replies fast. I wouldn't take this class or him again.
Took this course as well as another core business class and an upper div GE for the first session of summer. Was pleasantly surprised with how manageable the work was. 4 assignments per week: quiz, discussion post, critical response to article/vid, and math probs. These assignments are worth 80% of your grade. Final: 10%. mini case analysis 10%.
Make sure to turn in your homework on time and you'll be fine. Tests and quizzes are lockdown browser with webcam but he allows open notes and other devices. Would recommend.
Professor Loomba is clear on what he expects from his students. He gives optimal time to complete his assignments and is a respectable grader. Course work is made up of a quiz, discussion, and short-essay due bi-weekly. Fun group project and a final exam to wrap up the course. Just put in the work and you'll have 0 problems!
Not sure why he has so many good reviews. The biggest problem I have with this professor is the CMA sections of the test. There is no way to review these "Mastery" tests, and thus no way to master the chapters. Tedious, boring professor and class.
A solid choice for this course as everything is explained as to what is expected. Its definitely a difficult class because theres a lot of assignments due every 2 weeks. Makes you work for points as well. If you work hard and show effort then there will be good results.
Professor Loomba grades very harshly mainly on the group reports and discussion questions. Every CTA and DA, he provides the same exact feedback (same exact words) and does not specifically explain what do we need to improve on. CMAs are flat-out difficult like the lectures dont even help at all. Whoever takes his class, good luck
He was extremely unapproachable- the one time I emailed him, he was not only rude, but unreasonable to where I felt it was useless to ever contact him for help. All of his feedback is copy pasted, every single one off my assignments had the same comments word for word. He also docks points for no reason and recycles outdated assignments, AVOID.
If you want to have a good grade in his class, you need to make sure you understand the concept without any confusion and be successful with your group project.
Unapproachable - any question receives a response that "it's in the syllabus." His grading is unclear and feedback is always copy-pasted as the others stated. Extremely strict with deadlines despite being a slow grader himself - assignments turned in one minute late lose 1 letter grade; nothing accepted beyond 2 hours for any reason. No EC.
Excellent professor. Best experience at SJSU. Do assignments including all the class activities, you will get a good grade. Really impactful and timely discussion topics. Learned a lot.
Prof. Loomba is very detailed and his practical experience transcends all industries. He shares many insights about operations analytics and makes all lectures interesting and meaningful. The course work was eye opening about the world of analytics and very well taught. I will take any other of his classes in the future. 10+ teacher and mentor.
Mr Loomba's lectures were interesting. The class seemed hard at first but as long as you put in the work you'll pass.
Review was Bus5-146 (Intro to Project Management). Asynchronous course; modules are laid out well and easy to follow. You either have a Discussion Assignment or a written homework due every week which aren't very difficult and moderately time consuming. One group project that was given to us very late in the semester and was graded harshly.
This review is for his summer Bus 146 class. His responses and feedback are an endless cycle of copy and paste responses word by word on every discussion post and messages. Outdated assignments and the group project was issued a week before finals week. Only take this class if you can self study as his lectures are unhelpful for his exams.
Prof. Loomba is focused on students' success. You learn so much about projects in business roles in his BUS 146 course. He has an incredible passion for empowering students abilities to become a future project manager. I really like the term project where developing PM tools helped learn by doing. An exceptional professor overall!
Super easy-going and welcoming professor. The canvas course site is well planned out. He is really passionate about project management topics he lectures on. The BUS 146 class was not hard at all if you do the work. Besides the open book exams, there is one term project for the entire course. He was responsive and provided feedback using rubrics.
Take this class for an easy A+. Professor is charismatic, lectures are kinda boring tho. Workload for this class is a joke: 3 assignments (Calculations, Video Quiz, Discussion Post) due every month. Exams are lockdown browser/webcam and taken at home but the professor allows you to use another device to access notes/textbook.
Professor Loomba truly has a passion for what he does and for his students. He shares a-lot of funny and insightful stories that breakup the lecture from just strict definitions. The workload is very manageable and you know ahead of time when everything is due.
