Very nice guy! Class is pretty easy.
The class is pretty easy. He makes it so you have all these possible extra points to be able to pass the class. If you do well the whole class you don't even have to take the final.
This guy will tell the funkiest stories about bannanas in Central America. Easy to keep up with the work. You'll also learn a thing or two.
THIS is THE BEST TEACHER!! He's so nice, and unlike many professors at colleges, he isn't intimidating even though he is extremely smart in the field that he teaches in. If it wasn't for him, I would have a much worse overall attitude towards SJSU.
Best Business professor on campus (easy too!). Knows his stuff and enjoys teaching it. Midterm's a bit tricky, but being in his class is well worth it.
Funny, understanding of student scheduels, lectures can be boring, easy exams, gives study guide. No tricks on test study guide is it!
This guy is hilarious and tells the funniest stories. I always looked forward to his class. I hated the fact that the groupwork was 30% of our grade, but other than that, take him. He is also very nice and understanding of students.
he expects everyone in his class to get a c, and thinks that everyone will accept that. He talks about himself in class and doesn't talk about anything that's going to be on the midterm. Tests are hard and study guides do not help at all.
ok i think mr. osland came here and wrote those nice things about himself. He is a horrible teacher!! His tests are unclear. The whole class is doing horrible right now cuz his grader doesnt seem to use the right key. Osland cant teach, all he does is brag about how much money his wife makes. He Sux
To be fair, his class lecture is easy and he acts like it is all easy to learn and no big deal, then his exams are horrible. He takes them from a test bank and doesn't check them. Strongly advised to take online quizzes before the exams. he can be a jerk in his office, like your bothering him.
All he does is tell stories about his time with Chiquita banana corporation. His quizzes and tests are the trickiest EVER...Boring lectures and expects you to do 15hrs of community service for a project.
Are we talking about the same professor?Obviously sometime between last semester & this something must've really messed him up. Because he is neither "funny" or "great". Tests are difficult, lectures are unclear, irrelevant, BORING homeworks are ok, projects are a joke, & chiquita bananas are yellow
Dude this is all a big lie! This teacher sucks! His lectures are boring and he's unlcear in terms of giving instructions. Everyone in class is struggling. I'm not sure if half of the class will pass.
his lectures don't matter because test & quiz questions come from the text. tests aren't hard (take the online practice quizzes and you'll do fine). he's not as hard as people are saying but some of the assignments are pointless. he's a nice and funny guy. one of the better business profs at sjsu.
His grading scale is easy compare to other professor, but sometimes he's not very clear on the topic.
good teacher. lectures are boring. basically, its better to NOT go to class and just work at your own pace. gives students many opportunities to raise up their grade or have extra credit. wouldnt mind taking again. his wife is pretty cool too.
Very easy course. If you are serious, he is a slacker when it comes to cover the real content of the course. Picky about grammer and word usage in the case studies. If you want an easy class Dr. Osland A. is the best, if you want to really learn he is a slacker.
His lectures are very boring. I would say, just read the book and study his study guide and you will do fine. If you have a chance to do extra credit, please do so. He replies email really quick but then if you go up to him and ask him a question, he will act like you are bothering him.
Osland is very unorganized. He misscored 1st midterm and didn't do anything to correct it. Superfluous assignments such as team paper and PAAs. Lectures are boring, useless quizzes. Would not recommend.
I got a D on the first midterm an A (with fat curve) on the second. and i did an extra PAA and hardly studied for the final. Got a B+. I Recommend this teacher.
if you're taking a big load and want some ease, take this class with this teacher. very easy. just read the book and do the assignments and you'll get a good grade. instructor was very approachable and friendly. wouldn't mind taking again.
This class is really boring...Make sure you read before the test and quizzes because they arn't as ez as ppl say...It's on your own learing because he can't teach...take someone else if you can...
take him if u want to fail bus 160
There are a lot of complaining about Prof. Osland and not enough positive things. The student needs to show comittment to the work by seeing him in his office hours for help or advice. If one does see him in his office then it will be beneficial towards your grade. Quizes are very hard at first and I suggest that the PAA over the final(less arduous
Don't even bother go to class, because he can't teach. His quizzes and midterms are SUPER HARD!!! Don't even bother with the tests, because you can either take the test or do the papers (PAAs), just do the PAAs and you will get an A in the class.
not that hard of a class, but he is boring. people are probably better off writing a paper instead of a midterm or final. not a good professor. he should realize this "constructive critcism" and stop being boring with his power point lectures.
Must take.. its fun class...
I did not take one test, i wrote 3 PAA papers. I never went to class and i got an A. He is a really nice guy, and the options of writting the PAAs instead of taking the test is awesome.
He IS NOT hard at all.4 those who think so is crzy!yes u do get 2 write Papers to replace midterms & final. The quizzes r easy!if u jus pay attention 2 his lecture on the same day & memorize it rite away, u'll do fine on the quiz becuz it's based on the same day lecture!I got mostly full credit 4 the class n a final grade B. I barely read the book!
real man
really nice!!!! follow the class, you'll get an easy A
This is one class that really helped me LEARN something about Management. Great teacher, great book and great fun (exercises are cool)!
really nice teacher, he goes over powerpoint and then skips a chunk of it because he thinks it's not nesessary, do the papers in advance and see him for corrections to get a good grade
Team Project, PAA(Personal application assingments), In class assingments, 1 Midterm, Homeworkk, and Final.
eh, nice guy but i cant handle his lectures. they are kind of interesting but the way he talks kinda puts you to sleep. 2 and a half hour class cant handle it. lots of assignments-->not good.
Nice teacher, but alot of writing assignments. Anybody that hates writing shouldn't take him. He works your butt off. 10 articles 10%, 1 PAA (5 pg) 10%, group project/volunteer work/presentation/essay 10%, 1 midterm ch.1-11 can sub with 10 page PAA, Final, and homework assignment from text book plus quzzes from the reading.
can write essays instead of tests. midterm and final. 10 homework assignments. easy class. just have to show up for essays to count. would reccomend!
the most awesome professor at sjsu. i highly recommend him!
My experience with this instructor was very positive. He is not rigid AT ALL! If you require a lot of structure then he may not be the prof for you. VERY flexible and reasonable! Barely used the book! Should get an A EASY! Lectures are interesting. Participate in class and you'll do better.
The class makes you wanna fall asleep, but it's really easy. Go to class cause then he knows you and he'll bump your grade up at the end. As for the PAA's, just read the instructions, it's sooo easy. Bring your book to class, but don't worry about reading it, you'll just need it for the theories for PAA's. Also, he gave out some EC during holidays.

I passed the class with flying colors. Lots of writing. I wrote Paas instead of taking exams. Glad I took this class. weekly one page papers, one group project due at end of semester.
He was my favorite professor last semester. I missed a lot of class and came in late most of the time, but turned in all my work and there were lots of it. It's easy, just don't be lazy. Cool guy!!! Highly recommended!
Quizzes every week. 1 midterm and final. It was hard scoring well on the quizzes/exams unless you're very good at memorizing intricate details from the book. Since the whole class was doing poorly, he gave everyone the option to write a 10 page research paper that will replace your exam grade. Very tough, and overall I wouldn't recommend.
I loved this class because Osland has real world experience and loves his subject. The exams are so hard that he gives the option to write 2 5-page or 1 10-page paper. I looved this class and got an easy A. Just participate in class and show him you care!! Take this prof!!!!
He will make you pass. He allowed us to not take any midterm or final and just write a 20 page paper instead. Good guy
Not that hard of a class. If you do poorly on the quizes and midterms he will let you write a make-up paper on global topics to boost ur grade. He likes to talk about his worldly experiences alot and repeats stories, sumtimes monotonously, but still an easy class to get thru.
He teaches the subject in a very interesting way through real life experiences and various facts and stories. The text book is boring but the class material, discussions are very useful. He is not structured and is very flexible. Would highly recommend to take his class.
2 mt gives review questions 200?s 100 r on the mt ez stuff;) u can also write a paper instead but he grades hard is a stickler! 2 case studies out of 5 pts only he grades hella hard on those so u can do the inventory paper but he also grades hard of that many students redid but i didnt do it actually n gota B n bomed the final. ez A B
hes okay. hes likes writing so encourages us to do it however student fail to tell u that hes a HARD GRADER u have the option to write a paper or take a mt the mt have review question that were actually the same questions on mt!!! =) i thought i was a good writer but the mt boosted my grade up. he doesnt curve but ur given options so its nice
Very nice professor. Read off powerpoints mostly, and textbook use was low. Tests were easy if you do the study guide. Lots of writing. Group project. Overall good professor.
Great professor, easy and so nice! He gives review sheets for all the test and there is hardly no homework. Easy group presentation. You will pass with an A if you do the review sheets thoroughly!
study sheets for every midterms and the finals. easy group project. take him if you just want to pass the class.
Osland has a low key sense of humor, which made class enjoyable. We use his wife's book, and the text is actually well organized and easy reading, but HUGE. I would recommend him. He gives study guides that are the same as the tests, and you have to present a chapter of the book to the class. EASY.
Seriously he sets up his class for everyone to pass. He is alternate option for poor test takers. If you don't pass this class, then it's because you are lazy and shouldn't be in college. He is very personable and loves to talk about situations in class. If you want an A or just have a class where you put in effort and pass, take him.
Prof. Osland is the best instructor I've had in Grad School. He is very knowledgable, friendly, helpful, and motivating. Even if it's a subject you must take and you're not that interested in, Prof. Osland will get you interested in it. I'm so fortunate to have had Prof. Osland as my instructor. I learned so much. You must take a class with Osland
Knowledgeable and very fair. Extremely understanding of students' situations and willing to go out of his way to help you if you need it. I learned a lot from his online course, and he kept students engaged and prepared by sending constant assignment reminders- so incredibly helpful. Read the book, and don't be afraid to ask questions! Great class.
Pretty easy for an online class. Exams and quizzes are multiple choice, and there's about 10 discussions throughout the semester and some other case analysis. But beware, it sounds like he's changing the course structure for the online section. It sounds like there's going to be no more multiple choice exams and mostly essays instead.
He wants students to succeed and does what he can to make that happen. He is very nice and approachable. He sends waaaay too many emails but he means well. Warning: he is changing the class for the spring 14 semester. There will be a lot of writing. If you are responsible and on top of your assignments, you can easily get at least a B.
He is not a bad guy but he is not a really good instructor in term of teaching. Book is used at all time and he may ask you some or many questions that don't relate to the reading material. You should think twice and consult with other fellow student before picking his class. It may not be a very good class.
This professor is something else. His exam was completely abstract and did not include the main content from the chapters. His study guide is also very hard to follow. He also constantly expects students to rewrite their papers. He also sends at least five emails daily.
Professor Osland is extremely knowledgable about international business. He is really understanding and allows late work. This class has about ten discussions, two midterms, one final, four case analysis, and a few extra credit opportunities. He grades pretty hard on the case analysis and tests review sheets are about 600 questions per test.
I did not like this professor at first but I actually enjoy the class now. His exams are very hard but he offers extra credit to offset them. He also responds quickly with good feedback for case studies. He has a lot of real world experience which is helpful and interesting.
This professor is so nice and helpful. However, his two midterms and a final are so hard. He provides you a long study guide line but its impossible to complete 100 questions for each chapter, and in test you find only few questions come from study guide line. Group doesn't help either. you need to spend a lot of time to pass this class.
Professor Osland made the class more complicated than it should have been. Do not take unless you really have to. Exams are difficult and study guides are lengthy, 700 questions to answer. Also, floods your email daily and is rude when responding to questions via email.
Fill out the study guides using the book, memorize the answers, and you're all set to go. The study guide has a lot of questions (500+), but he's basically giving you the exam questions (which are MC). If you put in the time and effort you'll come out with an A.
Great class to take online. Not a lot of work, you will have to participate in discussions take the 3 exams and write one paper. The assignments are clear and to the point. I would recommend taking this class online!
very good professor! clear cut, and tells a lot of real world business stories.
He is an excellent professor who is clear in his grading and is very fair and understanding and shows interest in teaching his course and is VERY reachable and easy to access and gives immediate, helpful feedback.
Lectures 15% of the time, and the rest is about his life abroad. Very interesting stories he shares. I just read the book during class and studied at home and was able do well in his class. Quizzes are important, they help your grade! If you fail an exam you can replace the grade with a 20 page paper.
I had this professor for 160 also. For 187 the textbook was too difficult to learn at a rate of 3 chapters per week! Typically about 100 pages of dense material to learn each week. Tests were too specific, not based on general concepts but a super-specific paragraph out of many chapters. Study guides helped. Very nice person!
Osland teaches class with great interest. Attend classes. And class participation is important .
He's nice and he's very helpful. A lot of graded discussion, but the topic is very interesting. You have to read the book to Ace the test and do his study guide!
I enjoyed BUS 202., Dr. Osbjorn is one of the nicest professors I've had. You can tell he really cares about what he is teaching, and has a lot of experience, just from the stories he tells.
One of the best teachers I ever had! I am taking an online class with him. He is really nice and cares a lot about his students. It's a little heavy for 10 discussions, 3 exams or do the papers (2000 words each). He moves the due date if needed. I would definitely take his class again.
Not at all clear on what he expects. 10 discussion posts that are pretty easy. 3 exams that are super specific, if you don't read the book it'll be hard to do well. Lets you write a 2000 word paper to replace the exam if you do bad. Floods your email with 5+ emails a day which is annoying. Not clear about grading or what assignments are.
The class is 10% lecture 90% life stories. If you are taking him online, BUY AND READ THE BOOK. His tests are pretty difficult however you can replace your exams score with a paper in which he is very nice with grading. EASY A.
Get ready to read! This class consists of 10 discussion posts which are fairly easy though his tests are super specific. He provides study guides that include approx. 75 questions, but guess what! They are not helpful on the test. Tests are 20pts, but has 50 multiple choice questions. Also includes replacement papers to replace your exam grade.
Good guy. Take his course if you get the chance.
Professor Oslands class consists of lectures and discussion revolving power point, attendance isn't mandatory, neither is a textbook. His test are extremely hard however, you have the option of writing a paper that will replace your grade on the test, this option is also available for the final. He also uses canvas a lo, there's weekly discussions.
Lectures did not coincide with 10 quizzes nor 3 exams on Lockdown Browser. Grade also depends on a country report. However, write a paper on anything and can replace an exam from a fairly easy grader. Did not learn much from his class.
Weekly discussion posts that are easy but require some reading. He is forgiving with due dates. One group project. 2 Midterms and a final with lockdown browser and webcam. Lets you write a paper to replace exam score. Study the study guide using the textbook before exams and you should be ok.
He's very nice. There's discussion every week, but it's very simple. This course has two mid-term exams and a final exam.
I love professor Asbjorn! The thing that sets him apart from other teachers is that he is extremely caring of his students. He sends friendly reminders if you forgot to turn in assignments. He also makes adjustments to the deadlines only for the students. He is amazing!
ON-LINE CLASS This professor is very kind. He really cares that you succeed in his class, he'll send you a couple of reminders to do your hw and simply explain that it's crucial to do the homework. If it wasn't for him extending some of the assingments I probably wouldn't have passed, it's hard, working full-time and being a full time student.
TAKE HIM! Prof. Osland is one of the most caring instructors I've ever had. He truly cares about the success of his students. Weekly discussions and connect assignments which you can do ahead of time. There are 2 difficult exams which you can write 2 replacement papers for (2000 words). 1 group project - do it early. Easy grader & grade person
Easiest professor ever at sjsu and really cares. Replace exams with essays and youll be fine
Surprisingly one of the easiest classes. Easy, but tedious homework. Weekly discussion posts that were simple. Tests are really hard, so you have the option of writing 1500 word essays instead, which were graded with perfect scores provided you followed all the instruction. One final group project that were graded similar to essays. Easy A.
Professor Asbjorn is great at keeping students on task. However, his constant messages can get overwhelming in your inbox at times. I ended up having 51+ messages due to falling behind. The reason for this is you get about 2 months to complete 6 connect chapters. Expect to read, his exams are pretty difficult but you can do essays instead.
Lots of homework, many group projects, and discussions. Best part of the class is that you can replace finals with an essay which he doesn't grade too harshly.
The Professor lets you knows his requirements from the start of the semester and attendance is not mandatory. As long as you do the work you should get an A. Connect assignments are fairly long, but helpful. Essays can also replace midterms which is great!
Simple class. A lot of Mcgraw Hill assignments. 20 Mcgraw Hill assignments and then 10 discussions in the whole class. One group project which is easy. Final and midterm can be replaced with 2000-word essays that he grades super easily. Would recommend essays over tests. Take him if you want an easy class to pass.
Very easy class but don't fall behind. The 20 McGraw Hill assignments are annoying and take forever, about 1-2 hours each, so do one a week. Short group posts every week. Don't bother taking the mid-term or final, just do the two replacement essays, and the one group essay, which he grades easily.
Professor Osland's BUS187 class is straightforward, with weekly assignments and the option to replace exams with essays. Use unstuck AI alongside the textbook for an easy A. Engaging lectures and a caring instructor make this an enjoyable course.
Do the replacement essays for the midterm & final, both are graded easily by the professor (especially the group essay). It can be a struggle using McGraw-Hill for 20 Connect assignments, but try to knock all of them out as soon as possible and free yourself up to worry about something else.
Easiest class. Its difficult to not pass. 20 connect assignments which are tedious but gives ample time to finish them. 1 group assignment but pretty simple and he's an easy grader. 1 midterm and 1 final but you can replace it w essays. He is kind and caring! he cares about his students and tries to make this class easy!
Incredibly caring professor that cares about seeing his students succeed. Don't get lazy, and do the Connect homework as soon as possible (1-2 / week makes it easy). Can replace the midterm and final with papers on a topic of your choice as long as it fits within the content of the class. Group project but it's interesting and not too hard.
He's so kind, approachable, and supportive teacher. He's lenient, always available to communicate, and genuinely invested in his students' success, creating a positive learning environment.
