She's pretty cool. Instead making you do a team project you can volunteer helping out young school kids. She teaches pretty strait forward. Good class overall.

Easy teacher. Hard tests. Class lectures are worthless but she gives handouts so you can study on your own which you have to do anyways. Helpful if you get to know her!

Very nice lady, but her lectures tend to veer away from the subject and it is easy to get bored. She provides great study guides, but the tests are worded so they are difficult. Easy A on the project required for class.

Overall I enjoyed the class, but I must admit the tests were difficult. I still ended up getting an A in the class but I had to work hard for it. she is nice and cares about the students and is never in bad mood.

Her tests are easy, as long as you focus on the main concepts. Study her powerpoint slides and the text portions that explain the powerpoint material. You can do BLAST (after-school mentor) instead of a research project...which is great : ) Sometimes she takes too long to post grades.

From what i hear about other IS300 teachers, I think this one is the best. All her lectures are on powerpoint which shes posts on her website, which means you dont have to show up to class. She also assigns a paper and designing a webpage. You can tutor kids instead of doing the paper, which i did

Pretty easy, class on powerpoint (NEVER have to go class), either can do research project or volunteer to mentor kids! Tests are straight forward but you must study. I barely studied for her tests, did BLAST, missed lots of lectures (but was there the day I had to be to evaluate projects for participation credit) and pulled a B.

Exams are not very hard, but need to go over her study guides and cram the book before the tests. The team projects can be hard if you don't know the stuff. Lecture materials is boring but I don't get bored because she look HOT for her age. btw, probably the hottest female instructor in the whole IS department.

Great instructor. She truly cares about her students. . . I recommend taking her. She gives good real world examples to apply what she is explaining. The two team projects ROCKED!! :-) . . . Use her study guide and the PPT slides to prepare for exams. TAKE HER!

Her class is easy if you put in some effort. Her tests are easy if you read and study the chapters. She gives you the option of doing BLAST (community service) instead of doing a research paper. She is very resourceful and helpful with class material. She is very laid back when she lectures and allows you to learn a lot more. Excellent instructor.

The class is very boring. The tests are okay. She is not very organized. She doesn't post the study guides when she says. She posts the study guide two days before the final and made changes the day (night) before the final! I didn't attend most of her classes.

Great professor! She's really nice. Lectures are on powerpoint; class is not boring! She has studyguides for the 2 exams. Easy grader on the project, but just fair for the presentation. You can do BLAST mentoring/tutoring program for 10% EX CR. Because of BLAST, my overall grade of 83.15% becomes 93.15% - I got an A. Also, teaching kids is GREAT!

Class isn't extremely difficult, but the teacher is unorganized and kind of flaky. She talks too much about her personal life and skims over the lecture -- it's apparent she doesn't prepare much before class. Group project is easy and BLAST adds 10% extra credit, but exams are a little on the difficult side.

This teacher is great, she cancels class a lot. The class material is easy so just read the book and read lectures. You really learn the subject with this teacher, also if you want an A it will beno problem. Tests are average, even if you get all b's you can easily get an overall A

She is super easy if you just follow the book instruction. She gives you most of the answers for the exams and helps you with everything. My friend showed up like 4 times the whole semester and still did well. Its hard not to pass this class.

This teacher is sOooo full of herself and her family. She's unorganized and is VERY bad at responding e-mails. She's also very difficult to approach and isn't that understanding of students. Her lectures are BORING -- straight up powerpoint slides, and most of the time she goes off on a tangent. BUT she's fairly easy, gave 5% EC for BLAST volunteer

So...I took this class thinking it would be easy. It's not. I've had way easier. If you take this class watch your group members they could really screw you over on the group project. Did pretty well and didn't go to class at all. Don't buy the book, the powerpoints she provides online are sufficient.

Not hard, just do the work. Don't need to go to class, even during presentations. BLAST is an extra push if you can fit it in, it'll just secure your grade. She's easier then the rest so take her and don't complain about the little work she assigns.

Points are tight. If you do bad on one test, you'r grade drops alot. Presentations are graded easy. No need to attend class, just read the book. Her study guides are VERY helpful. BLAST offers 5 points e.c, but takes 2-3 hrs out of each week, so I didn't feel it was worth 5 points. Class only has 100 points, but it isn't hard.

kind of a joke. you could skip almost everyday and still pull a B if you just go through the chapters in the book. 1 midterm, 1 final, 2 small easy assignments, 1 pop quiz, 1 big group project. group project is kind of intense but she grades it very easy.

ok people if you are NOT an IS major take this class, but if you are an IS major dont take her cause you are not going to learn anything. You dont need to spend $100+ on the book, just download the powerpoints from the book's website.(thats all you need for the midterm and final tests)

Not a very good teacher. She is nice and means well, but she goes off topic too much. A simple lecture will take so long and will be boring because she keeps changing the subject about her life or some other unrelated topic. I didn't learn much. She does give study guides though. It's not too hard to ace the class.

Online class w/TONS of labs available. Go 2 lab for TONS of help. Class was a breeze, CR/NCR class, only way u dont pass is if u dont do the assignments. Book is expensive, used it as a guide to make hmwk a breeze, but team up w/a friend & its worth it. Dnt need the VISTA cd, if u go to lab. I got 100 on all assignments b/c the TA helped a lot.

online class. assignments are easy, tests are easy. be careful with casegrader; do what the instructions tell you to do. it recognizes how you did something, even if it looks the same as it would by doing it there way. EASY.

This is an online class and is the easiest class I have taken at CSULB. As long as oyu turn in the assignments on time and correctly you will surely get "Credit". The only challenging section is Access, but lab hours really helped with that. Other than that the class is pretty straight forward.

She's a nice lady. Talks a bit about her family life. Her powerpoints were not much help, just make sure you read the book yourself. Her tests were'nt too bad as long as you read the chapters and studied. Three exams, a few homework assignments, and two group protects Make sure you get with the right people for your group.The course wasn't bad.

I'm taking her class right now so its too early for more than an impresion. Her lectures seem boring, and sometimes her facts are just wrong. Her first test was harder than expected and I got a C even though I studied and expected an A. Her excuse, "you're not studying the concepts" doesn't sit well when her powerpnt was so different from the test.

She's goofy and fun but spends too much time talking about her daughters and her son and how they're doing so well. Lectures are on Powerpoint that she sometimes does or doesn't post on BB. You have to remind her to post them. Attendance is not mandatory, I learned more from the book. Not a hard class but not easy. She does curve exams.

I also have mixed feelings about this teacher.. she's nice and all, but her tests are pretty tough. 1st test everyone did horrible, 2nd test was so so... FINAL was extremely difficult. MUST READ and know book! It's useless to come to class all she does is read off pp. One thing I disliked about her is she would give a study guide 4days before test.

Class is Terribly boring. Forgetful professor at times so you have to remind her a few times and sometimes she still won't reply to an email. Likes to ramble during her lectures. power points are ok but you have to read to pass. HW is just like high school homework.

I never learn anything when I go to class but I show up because you should just in case and I am paying for education. She likes to go on tangents and tell stories that are unrelated to tests. Some of the assignments are useful in life and there is a team project.

Online class is really easy.just use the book to figure out what to do for hw.simulations can be hard if you dont know what youre doing, but if you need a better grade the graded test has videos to show you how to do it. I didnt have ACCESS on my laptop so had to go to lab for that section. i dont think software is compatible with macs so beware

Attendance optional. Lectures are fairly useless because she just reads off powerpoint. Better to skip class and read powerpoint and book on your own. Grading scale is difficult for the fact that total points possible is 100. So any little bad grade can hurt, including the Group project. So be sure to stay on top of things early on!

She is an awesome and fun person, but just an okay professor. The only thing to really worry about is the group presentation and paper. The tests are not super "easy" but if you read the chapters you should be fine. She gives out study guides but it seemed like the material on them was rarely part of the exams.

Aside from the orientation I never saw the professor but the class was very easy. Worked on word, excel, access, and PowerPoint only used the book for Microsoft word and never touched it again. Easy class with a light workload. Take this class.

Online class. Really easy, you can get your work done in the first month and not worry about it for the rest of the sem. Expensive book, have to buy it in order to get the codes for the class and access the program.

Professor Thomason is straight forward and to the point. She cares about her students. She wants all students to do well so she puts a lot of time into the class and hosting workshops. Three exams (test bank style), two homework, two group projects. Great professor!

Professor Thomason is such a sweet lady! She really cares about her students, and if you ever need help definitely talk to her! She loves to talk a lot though, so be prepared for that. Her lectures can get boring, but her class overall was pretty easy if you studied for her midterms/finals. Mostly memorization from her powerpoints.

A lot of busy work, but not hard whatsoever. She takes awhile to respond if you have questions. Don't buy the textbook because you won't need it. All you do need to buy is the Pearson lab stuff, but not the book itself. Nice lady though and I'd recommend her.

I was kind of disappointed that the one time i went to the tutoring lab, no instructor was there except for a few other students. The content is super easy. If you get the time, sit down and bust out all the assignments. No Final

Professor Thomason is such a sweetheart. Her IS 100 class was lectured as if we were all her children hearing the adventurous journeys Aslea once had. Sometimes the material pertained to class--often it didn't--but the class was very fun. At times, it was hard to uncover the objectives of the course but its unique and tests were straight-forward.

You'll use the book at the beginning for a few hwk assignments. It's important to go to class to take notes because she will specifically point out stuff that will be on the tests. The group project is a bit of a pain so make sure you choose the right people. Also, she gives extra credit for the final essay. You do have to work for an A.

course is "flipped", class is mandatory but you do absolutely nothing most of the time. group work everyday but most was done at home so really did not need to attend class project given at the end of semester with only a couple weeks to finish only professor for this mandatory course, CSULB should rethink that did not open the textbook once

Lectures are pointless. Talks about personal life too much & goes off topic easily. Class consists of 4 homework assignments, one group project, 2 midterms and a final. Study guide given but doesn't help. Honestly, just study everything. Ironic how it's like an IT class but contains a lot of grammatical errors. I can make better powerpoints myself.

I took this class during summer. This is the best class I've taken in my college life. The professor is so experienced both in life and in her field. She lectures more about life experience and give great feedback for students. Her tests are doable as long as you study. Totally recommended!

Most of the time the lecture goes off topic. You will need the book because not all homework answers are online. Tests are sometimes difficult which means you will need to study outside lecture materials for an A. There is one major group project which your teams are automatically assigned. Do your best on this because it is worth a bit.

Taking her right now - not a fan. She's easy but every class feels pointless. Lectures are boring, unorganized, and go off topic. In-class group assigns are a waste of time. Big group project is a pain (groups are auto assigned so if you get stuck with bad members tough luck). Exams are half test bank half her own Qs. Need the book for online hw.

I S 100 is an easy GE course to take, and Thomason is a solid professor to instruct it. She uses many real-life scenarios and personal experiences to help you better understand the material and concepts, and genuinely cares about her students. 4 HW assignments, 2 midterms, 1 team project (pretty easy), attendance and the final. Highly recommend!

I was in for a shocker. She is the nicest professor I think I've ever had, but the content and lectures are EXTREMELY boring. She makes you check into an app for attendance. Most stop showing up to class or were on their laptops. Test were doable by reading the book, homework is not too bad, its sitting through the lecture that's the tough part.

Professor Thomason is the best! She's funny, animated and really cares about her students. I don't get why someone would say her lectures are extremely boring. She does her best to keep your attention and make her lectures interesting. I would take her again if I could!

Very nice, but extremely unorganized. She has an awful understanding of punctuation and capitalization, making her tests and slides difficult to read. Tests on in-class examples, has a group project. Not enjoyable, but overall pretty easy.

I normally don't rate professors, but she is awesome so I just had to. Honestly I enjoyed her class. If you are not interested in Information systems the material will bore you, however she really tries to make her lectures fun and interesting. One group project that is easy (if you get a good team) and 3 exams. She assigns weekly homework.

She is such a sweetheart. However, her IS 300 is not an easy class. IS 233 is nothing like 300. The homework and excel assignments were easy and same with group projects, but her tests were really hard. She gives a study guide just days before but it contains too much information to where you don't know what exactly will be on. So read the book!

Asela is a professor with a lively personality but can get annoying fast. Her classes are very lecture heavy. I dread having to go to class because it's a lot of information at one time. She adds unnecessary amounts of detail to her study guides and lectures which aren't even included on the exams. It's a bit overwhelming so you NEED TO STUDY!!

Professor Thomason goes off on a lot of tangents, but her class is overall pretty easy. I listened during lectures and skimmed the textbook. I got As on her tests and a B on the final. Fairly easy class, 3 exams, weekly online homework, not too hard but you do need the book and have attended lecture to answer some questions. Material is good, most of the off-the-slides discussions appropriate for the course. Group project/presentation required, not difficult. Attendance 5% of final grade. I took her for IS 300 this Fall. Her tests were pretty difficult and you have to read the book if you want an A. I didnt read much though and ended up with a B. Her final was hard though and got a C on that one. Im not a good test taker though. The commerce project though was long and overwhelming. I definitely recommend her!

Professor Thomason was an amazing teacher and knows how to keep the class interesting. Besides the midterm and final, there's a group project that's worth a lot of points. She's a very understanding teacher and very approachable. I really recommend her if you need a critical thinking class.

Pearson hw are easy, best way to boost up your grade. Attendance mandatory but you have to pay $20 for the app. Read the book to pass exams. Go to class because she tells you what's going to be in the exam. Start group project early. She doesnt curve even if you're .1 away from the next letter grade.

Professor Thomason has a very sparky and nice personality, she tells many stories of her experiences during the lecture. She gives 3 exams, weekly online homework, and 1 group project. Professor Thomason creates a very welcoming environment, is passionate about IS, & really wants to see her students succeed. Definitely READ the textbook however - that will help you out the most for your exams and assignments. Also, don't wait until the last minute to do the group project - it's very tedious!!

Useless $15 app just to take attendance. Nice person but terrible professor. her lectures goes off track and study guides are not the best. The way test questions are phrased are very confusing. Slides have little to no information. You have to rely on the textbook. I only went to class is because attendance is mandatory. 1 group project-easy.

Big group project that makes up 20% of your grade. In my opinion, the project added on a lot of stress after being put in lockdown, since groups weren't able to meet up in person. She's very passionate about the subject, but the lectures are pretty boring. Tests are fairly easy, as long as you read and study. Don't forget to do the hw.

She tries to make the class enjoyable with her bubbly personality. Exams were kind of hard because they were detailed. Memorize the study guides and you'll do fine. Easy weekly homework. $16 app to take attendance. Group project (create a product) that sucked because we were virtual. Pick good team members that contribute and you'll be good.

This is the worst class i have taken. Thomason is so kind but all she ever did was read word for word what was on the powerpoint and it was easily the driest class I have ever taken. Her exams were 62 questions in 60 minutes so you have to really know your answer without even thinking. Some questions took over a minute to just read.

Prof Thomason, is the sweetest professor I've ever had. The info systems material is boring, but she made it interesting with her videos and random personal stories. There was only a midterm and a final exam, both open book. So I was pretty happy. The group presentation was allowed to be pre-recorded which was awesome. I enjoyed her class :)

This is the best class i have taken. Thomason is so kind cuz she does much more than read word for word what was on the powerpoint and it was easily the best class I have ever taken. Overall an A in this class is very doable if you put some work in it, however, I really did not like how professor Thomason would use the lecture time. More specifically, during lectures professor Thomason would read directly off of her slides which made the course very boring and unappealing. The exams are relatively hard due to time limits.

She was very kind. I'm a transfer student, so she made the transition easy to Long Beach even through online learning. She was clear with what she expected from us, on the assignments due every week. She explained the material well, I feel like I learned a lot from her. She made Excel easy to do. One group project, it wasn't too hard; it was fun.

Posts lecture slides which are helpful for review. 4 homeworks, 8 participation assignments, 1 midterm, 1 quiz, 1 group project, and the final. The work isn't too hard but the guidelines are vague and the professor doesn't seem knowledgeable. Main cons: boring lectures, reads off the slides, slides have many typos, answers questions vaguely.

Boringest class I have taken. Professor makes no effort to make the class interesting. Does not teach just reads of slides. Her exams are difficult because of the time she gives, about 60 minutes for 65 questions. Take another professor that wont read off of lecture slides for the entire 75mins of class time.

Lectures are based on PowerPoint and videos, there is interesting information shared but the lecture is so long that you seem to lose focus. Quizzes are 20 min for 20 questions. The professor is really nice. Maybe an on-campus class would be more interesting since you are able to discuss the material with classmates.

Lectures could be very boring. The class consists of 2 tests, midterm and final. Both tests approx. 70 questions in 70 minutes open notes. 5 excel homework assignments that can be very confusing and time-consuming (2 hours+). Lastly, 10 quizzes throughout the semester.

Open notes for exams but you should still know the material cause you might only get a minute or less to answer each. Few homework but takes a while to do them.

I don't recommend taking this professor. Makes IS300 class extremely hard compared to other professors, boring lectures, exam/quiz are hard and not enough time is given you have less than 1 minute to complete each questions, reads off slides, too much hw, will not answer your questions directly, and will send you to get help from others.

kinda disappointed bc i was excited 4 this class, just wish i had a diff prof. she can be nice but she can also be rude af sometimes. she will offer help but then question students on why they dont understand it, "didnt u guys look at the ppts?" ur better off going to tutoring for hw & any other help. tests are also hard, it's not open notes.

Class consists of 10 quizzes, 5 hws, and 2 exams (one of which is the final). Its hard to make this class interesting when its not your major. She reads off the slides but gives real world examples. Easy A if you study the ppts, quizzes, and skim textbook. I highly recommend! Also, its so rude when people leave in the middle of the class smh.

Asela was a fairly easy professor. You do not really need to show up to class, she posts all the powerpoint online. There are 10 online quizzes on the powerpoint, 4 excel assignments that you can get tutor help for if you need it and 1 midterm and 1 final. Overall, just read the powerpoints to get ready for the exams.

Was so close to an A and she told me grades were final and didn't want to round up. Get ready to read because its the only way to do well on the exams. No study guide for the exams so you have to just read everything and she also adds questions about the videos in her ppt. She allowed a cheat sheet but it doesn't do much if you don't know what's being covered. Her lectures were so dry people would leave in the middle of class. Don't take her.

Super caring professor. Super easy homework assignments where she is there to help you. Quizzes are also easy because they are based on her PPTs and Textbook. She gave out a study guide for the exam which helps a lot. These negative reviews are people that don't come to class and participate. If you have issues, TELL HER. She will help you.

The first half of the semester was lectures only. The second half was doing excel homework in class. Homework can be finished in class if you work quickly. You can get help from those around you or the professor. There are two exams, pretty straight forward if you study. I enjoyed this class.

Thomason was a very nice professor, she's funny, passionate, and truly cares for her students. We had 10 quizzes, which were due on Friday, based on the chapter you studied that week. This class had 5 homework, on Access and Excel. We had 2 tests and 75 multiple-choice questions for a test.

Professor Thomason made IS300 easy to follow with clear instructions on assignments she spent some class time working on the Access and Excel homework assignment of the course. She does have weekly online quizzes with material mentioning topics she talks about only in class not in the textbook so attendance is recommended but not too bad.

This class should not have been as difficult as it was. Content is not hard, but there is a lot of it. Despite the teacher's efforts to keep the class entertained, the lectures were long and boring. If you take this class, my suggestion is to keep track of the questions on the tests because many of them will appear on the midterm and final.

Information overload. She covers the material from the textbook PLUS material she WANTS to cover. The quiz questions are from the lectures and not all the info is on the slides so you MUST pay attention. Only 2 tests so you must remember 8 weeks of material for each. Tests include random case studies and YouTube videos that can be 5-90 min.

Took for online IS233. She is very caring and extended due dates if something personal would come up for us. The work does seem like a lot from the jump but she does space it out well, just be ready to spend an hour or two doing it, some sections were quick while others were longer but nothing was crazy difficult. One of the easier professors.

Professor Thomason's IS300 class is a challenging but rewarding experience. While the lectures can be dry, her clear explanations and hands-on approach with Excel and Access make it worthwhile. Attending class is a must, and using tools like Unstuck ai can really help with study prep.

I took her 3 hour class so it was a little hard to stay engaged. She cares for her students if you need help just ask her for clarification. 2 exams 1 midterm and then the final so it's very concept heavy so make sure you study! Shes a sweet teacher and you can tell she likes to teach. The class overall is just really easy and you even really have to be paying attention most of the time and you could still understand the concepts. Great class but NO ONE ATTENDS, The Professor tends to rant a lot and go off topic but it's entertaining. She cares for her students and will give an extension if needed. You'll have to pay $20 for advisor, and that's where most assignments take place. 1 week it could just be a case study, the next it could be a case S, discussion, quiz, and excel

You need to buy a $25 AI program where all the quizzes, discussions, and a couple case studies instead of a textbook. Her lectures are kind of long and can get boring, but the topics can get pretty interesting. There is only one midterm and one final (not cumulative). Professor Thomason is a very bubbly, sweet person! I enjoyed listening to her lectures because of her humor and life stories she would incorporate into the material. Homework is simple and a great way to earn points. The two mcq midterms and 1 mcq final were kind of difficult because some of the mcq options were quite broad.
