This was an awesome course for me, the prof gave great lectures and was really funny. He also answered all our questions clearly, no matter how obvious the answer was (LOL). If you show up, do the hw and study the previous year's tests/exams then you should have no trouble at all.

Dr Ghorbanpour is extremely caring and wants his students to do well. His exams are very fair and he gives students exams from the past three years with solutions to practice. He can mess up a board note occasionally. Nonetheless a great prof. Very passionate lectures and clear detailed explanations!

He is so far my favourite math/calculus professor/teacher comparing to all the other ones I met in high school or other sections. The written assignments were not easy and it took me a while to finish those, but it surely well prepared me to write the midterm and the final. He is very patient and explains all the questions clearly.

The submitted mark is higher than I think.

I got switched from Olds into his class for Math1229 and I have to say that I really lucked out! Even though this year is online, Prof. Ghorbanpour's lectures are concise, informative, and very helpful. Even if you do not have him, make sure to watch his lecture videos for 1229 because they are by far the quickest and most sensical way to learn.

He makes good youtube videos and is a good educator. He explains the majority of concepts really well and seems like a nice guy :)

With online school, he was a gem. His lectures were super clear and concise (although I'd recommend watching them on 1.25 or 1.5 speed). I didn't do any of the homework questions from the textbook, just the lectures, all year and was getting 85's-95's. Math 1229 is known to be pretty easy and it's true, especially if you did vectors in high school.

Ghorbanpour is goated! I was able to get through the course solely by watching his lectures, which, when played at 1.5x speed, are very informative and helpful. He is always giving examples and diving deeper into concepts that are a little more complex. Absolute champion.

Amazing in the online courses. 1229 is already a bird course, but I've heard it got a bit harder with other profs with online classes, but I had no issues with this guy's lectures. He gives super good examples and explains everything in-depth.

His videos were very clear and the course structure was very clear and consistent. There were no surprises when it came to Exams and tests and as long as you do the practise you're good. He teaches really clearly and makes sure to include tons of examples if you need.

Overall, he's a nice guy and a fair marker. Also allocates 10% of your final mark to your highest scoring exam/mid-year test. Keep up with his in-unit questions and watch his videos and you should be good. He can be a bit disorganized with his lecture videos but he actually cares about you and will answer any questions you have during office hours.

Such a good professor for 1229! I found the course to be a bit confusing but his videos made the content so clear and understandable that I did not even have to do any additional problems besides just watching his videos. Put in 2-3 hrs of work a week and you'll get 90+

Also had him for calc1000, but I find his calc1301 lectures to be even more enjoyable, partly due to him being more concise, and quite funny. He goes over A LOT of examples to make sure you really know what's going on. The textbook is a good read over but if you listen to the lectures then it's almost not necessary. Well structured lectures!

Explains things very well even over video format. People hate on his video lectures but they actually made things make a lot more sense for me in all the math classes he provided them for. The only thing I don't like is that he doesn't respond to emails that often.

My favourite professor all year. Obviously, you have to do the work but the course is generally not too strenuous. If you put in the work you'll succeed! If you don't, you'll end up typing 1/5's like the people above. Classless since this is widely considered by students to be one of the easiest courses in all of Western to get a good mark in.,

Prof Ghorbanpour is a very nice guy, perhaps the best teacher that I have ever met! He cares about his students' feeling about the course, and reply to their emails within 1 or 2 days usually. I attend his online zoom offcie hour every week, and I can always learn something new from my talk with him. He even invited me to drop in the next term.

Dr. Ghorbanpour is the funniest guy ever. He's so passionate about what he teaches and he cares so much about each and every student learning. He's really unlike other uni profs in that sense. He's also really good at explaining concepts. I'm almost sad that I probably won't be taking any more math courses so I'm not gonna have him again.

Asghar is such a fun prof. His online lectures are easy to follow but can be a bit dull, however, his in person tutorials are always such a joy to attend. He tries his best to make calculus fun, which is an incredibly difficult thing to do.

In tutorials, he is clearly very passionate about calculus and always puts effort into explaining concepts very clearly. He genuinely listens and cares about his students. An insanely unique prof; I'm so sad I won't have him anymore!

I came into this course not expecting much but it is now my average booster! Prof. Ghorbanpour's video lectures are easy to understand but make sure to do lots of practice questions. I also attended his tutorials which were informative. He's enthusiastic about what he teaches which makes it so much more enjoyable.

Prof. Ghorbanpour doesn't "run" UWO's CALC1000, but he was my TA, and also the prof that made /ALL/ the lecture videos for this year's delivery of Calc. Very clear lecture videos, his tutorial sessions are fun and explores some harder test-level questions, and he's supportive. CALC1000 isnt easy; lots of HW, tough tests, but he was valuable!

Professor Ghorbanpour is a passionate and energetic professor at Western hands down. He is really passionate about what he teaches and is great at explaining concepts. Make sure you practice a lot though and watch all the lectures or else you won't pass. Exams are very fair and just like practice/past exams if not easier. Make sure he's your TA!!!!

I almost got 100 on this course and put in the least amount of work into this course compared to all my other courses. Loved the TA and loved the tutorials. You'll regret not taking this course.

Easiest math course that you can get a 90 in. Lectures are straightforward and he posts examples for each concept so you can understand everything. He explains things well too. Don't bother doing the book problems for exams, do past exams because those are the questions that come in the exam. Know your stuff and you're good.

I started off very slow in this course, I studied very hard and did extra practice through prep101 and I did very well on the exam which boosted my mark to an A-. I did find a few exam questions that were not taught during the school year. The exam was super light so it all worked out. thanks my guy

I know lots of people say calculus 1000 is hard, but with Professor Ghorbanpour I found it fairly easy. By just reading the textbook and attending the tutorials, I was able to get a 98 in the class. He explains things really well, and is a really nice guy.

His tutorials are super engaging and he's passionate and funny. MATH1229 is easy if you keep up with all the lecture videos and do the practice problems. Before the test do all the practice tests and review what you don't know. Getting a high mark in this class is extremely attainable if you work hard.

I actually enjoyed going to his tutorials. He always kept the class's attention and went through everything in detail. His video lectures were super helpful and he was a really great teacher in general. This course and this prof are a really great way to transition into university math.

If you watch the videos, do the example question videos, do the practise exams and attend the tutorials you will do just fine. He is a great prof. His tutorials were super engaging and useful in order to review the concepts. Overall, great prof. and course.

Asghar Goat-banpour. Math 1229 is a really easy course IF YOU PUT IN THE WORK. Professor Ghorbanpour gives you tons of resources to help you and his lectures are very well explained and straight to the point. Attending his office hours is also really helpful, he makes sure you understand the topics and will always understand your train of thought.

This man carried me through all of first year uni mathematics. I took both calc1000 and math1600. The actual profs were terrible but Asghar's videos were the one thing that helped me power through. Thank you Professor Ghobanpour for being an amazing math professor. You have helped me and many other students in more ways than you can imagine.

The lectures, practice exams, and review sessions make it extremely doable to do well in this course. I have nothing negative to say about this prof, he is great, super accommodating, and truly prepares you for assessments!

the best ever

This is by far the best math professor I've ever had in my life. I had him for both CALC 1000A and Math 1229A and he made everything so clear. Each of his online weeks were broken down into sections with great examples and lots of practice problems. Every math course should be like this, I would definately take a class with him again!

His lectures are so detailed and energetic, but sometimes he can overcomplicate questions for "the logic of math". A good prof in general

Wow! I was in the middle of my online lecture and paused it to write this review. He teaches math so clearly. I wish every teacher taught like this, if I had him throughout high school I would have been getting 100s no doubt. This is only based on the online lectures too! Can't imagine how well he teaches in person.

I didn't have Ghorbanpour as my actual professor, but I watched his linear algebra youtube videos. His videos are literally so amazing. Without these videos, I probably would have failed this course. I recommend everyone watches his videos if they don't understand a concept.

His lectures are good, although sometimes a bit difficult to understand, but an awesome TA in calc 1000. I took one point off only because he is crazy about masks.... Everyone had to put on a mask in his classes or he would actually leave the class

His lecture videos are vert straightforward and well-organized. He does plenty of examples that helped me get use to the formulas and concepts. If you have blended course that require you to watch his video and go to TA's tutorial, I recommend watching his video first and then going to the tutorial since it makes it easier to see the big picture.

I have Asghar in tutorials and I love how passionate Asghar is about math and how he teaches. If you have his class, take his tutorial you will learn a lot.

Very fun course, similar to the vectors unit of Ontario highschool vectors (MCV4U) with some additional information on matrices. 95-100 is easy in this course if you practice using the past exams they provide.

all the content is online. very clear and well-taught, and there is lots of extra help available if you need, which I personally never used and never went to a single optional tutorial. I still earned a 90+. All it takes is watching the lectures and practicing the content which is on you

Really good prof. He's really clear on what is tested on exams and provides a lot of exam/midterm prep. His lectures are pretty easy to follow and quizzes are fair and good for extra review. May god bless his soul

Great dude, fun lectures and great at teaching. Most people from other 1000's came to this dude's lectures because he was great at teaching and gave relevant problems during classes. Didn't reference the textbook much so you have to do that yourself. However, if not mandatory do not take this course for fun.

His lecture was quite enjoyable, and I had a good time. Many Calc 1000 students from other lectures attended his class, so I spent most of the time sitting on the floor, but it was worth it. He covered a lot of practice problems and explained the concepts fairly clear.

very funny, found out he's persian thought he was sikh cuz of his last name but his accent was totally different, lectures get really full cuz ppl from other lectures started coming too and so many ppl had to sit on the floor, it's literally chaotic sometimes in a funny way tho, he does many examples and usually explains them well (part 1/2)

one thing i never understood is how people were sitting at the back cuz you literally can't read his handwriting from there and i don't even have glasses or bad eyesight either, definitely get there like 20 mins early so you can get a good spot, overall pretty decent prof compared to some of the other for calc (part 2/2)

Would advise against taking Calculus 1000 if you can (I thought it'd be a lot easier than it was), but if you need to take it, for sure go with Ghorbanpour. Absolute GOAT, teaches the material way better than any of the other profs.

I never technically had him, but he subbed in for my prof (Barron) when she was sick. He is such a good professor, I seriously can't describe it. After the 1000 midterm, I had a question about the exam. When asked, he gave me a very good answer and invited me to office hours. Keep in mind he is NOT my prof and knew he wasn't. Very generous of him

I wasn't even enrolled in his class, but I came to his lectures anyway cause they were just that good. He broke difficult concepts down into easily understandable parts and always made sure to clarify any misunderstandings. I'm attending his Calc 2 class now and he is amazing too. He definitely took away some of the stress of calculus.

Course is absolutely insane and exam questions are completely nuts but he does his best to make you feel prepared for it, gives a lot of test difficulty questions in class so you kind of know what to expect but overall super funny guy very very good lecturer. little annoying that he does work on chalkboard and doesnt post notes but still my dawg

I found his online lectures very easy to follow. They prepared you very well for exams. The structure of the course was also very easy to follow and there were lots of practice questions provided to help you when studying.

Ghorbanpour is the best calc prof and everyone knows it

Great prof overall but has a very complex view on solving problems which might get you confused, if so, try and find O'Hara for his vids. Has some good vids and very fair tests in general tho.

As someone who's never been good at math, he actually makes me understand and describes everything so nicely with great detail. He also has personal online math videos that you can follow and has notes posted on the class brightspace. Him and O'Hara are the easiest to learn from in my opinion. If you ever have him as your math prof, you're lucky.

One of the best math profs at Western. For future students, Ghorbanpour has a YouTube channel with all the recorded lectures for the entire CALC1000 course.

Great prof for Calc 1000, clear and easy to hear. He is genuinely passionate and makes you want to come to class, sometimes complicated lectures but better than any other calc prof I went to.

Personally, I haven't been to many lectures. Textbook + grinding past exams is all you need. The classes I did show up to, he is organized, and well spoken. Has the best reputation among calc students.

His youtube videos where he teaches the course on OneNote are really good, his notes are very organized and easy to understand and follow, he explains it clearly too, cool accent as well, good professor

Professor Ghorbanpour is an incredible professor; he teaches well, is organized, and is absolutely hilarious. He has so many office hour/support opportunities, and he posts everything on his YouTube channel! He does write fast and doesn't use one note, but i actually found this helpful because it kept me engaged and focused. Amazing!!

Genuinely the easiest course of my life. Ghorbanpour's videos are all atomic (i.e. discussing one topic only) and easy to understand - as long as you take notes and remember the key concepts, you will get 90% and above. He speaks incredibly slow though so watch all the videos on 2x speed.

Stopped going to class 3 weeks in because he posts all his lectures online and I can do iClicker at home. The classes that I did go to though were energetic, well-explained, and easy to understand. Best CALC1000 prof at Western and I highly recommend taking his class.

Prof Ghorbanpour's lectures are engaging and he breaks down complex concepts clearly. The class can be challenging, but attending and using resources like the free textbook and tools like Unstuck AI for study prep make a big difference. Would definitely take his class again.

Rly tough course He's rly passionate abt teaching There's no reason for the assignments 2B so hard (I had 3 q's per assignment in calc 1 (1500) to 18 q's per assignment in calc 2 and you'd think “oh the Qs must be easier then” no they were not!) He'll never make a student feel bad for asking a dumb Q He could stand 2B a touch more organized

This course is based on vectors, which I had not taken in high school, but his videos were super clear I did not feel behind or lost at any point. Practice questions and quizzes are very reflective of the midterm and final exam questions, as long as you practice those and ensure you understand every question, you will be absolutely fine.

Asghar was a great lecturer. he was engaging and made the concepts easy to understand with detailed lessons. This said, the midterm was pretty brutal for me, but after that when I started going to office hours, I saw improvement. He is nice and funny too!

Walked in thinking this would be my most cooked class. Although in BMOS it was definitely the hardest, this guy carried and made calc tolerable. Everything that's bad about this class is because of the CLASS. 7-9pm I hated, the midterm I hated, the content I hated. Dr. Ghorbanpour was the one redeemable thing about this whole 4 month experience.

Such a sweet guy! Makes the material digestible, lots of practice questions to prepare you. Go to his tutorials to ask any questions, very approachable and it was a nice breather course paired with my other science heavy courses. We bought one textbook in my friend group and split the PDF among like 10 ppl lol. Good experience!

Amazing professor, extremely simple and easy to follow lectures. Posted numerous sources of practice problems and examples to reinforce concepts, had more than fair exams as well. Tutorials are also very good at summarizing content. Overall an excellent professor and teacher.

Def is a bird. He gives you lots of past exams that are basically what is on the actual exam, with different numbers etc. It's easy to fall behind because it's self-taught, so stay on top of the weekly work if you can. I didn't though, but still was able to cram everything and got a 99 on the final, because the concepts are explained really well!
