What Profs should be like
Best prof in Engineering
Funniest prof i've had. Goes a little too fast. Gotta love the stories he tells.
Funny, but goes way too fast
Makes fun of the students
Fun and easy, as long as you dont want anything from him ;)
Very approachable. Fair marker but challenges his students. Funny guy with lotsa interesting engineering stories to tell.
very nice guy..
Ash is the Man
A good, laid back prof who expects a lot out of his students. Be sure to keep up or get left in his dust.
This guy can't speak. He and his funny Hindu accent makes the materials a lot more confusing. I mean....he pronounces circle as "sucker" and circuit as "suckit".
His lectures and lecture notes lack structure. Often jumps from one topic to another. Formulas and graphs written on overhead are often not labelled and confusing. Exams are hard and unlike anything done in class or in textbooks and resemble IQ questions.
He is a very helpful and a hard-working man. His accent makes his lecture a little unclear. The rest is cool.
He has a major Hindu accent.Nice teacher. Exams are hard. Final grades are low. Course in general easy. BUT teacher gives bad marks, you wont fail, but u wont get an A either
Ash is always willing to stay late to help students in the lab. He's friendly and remembers students - even if you haven't taken a class with him.
One of the nicest, friendliest, and happiest individual you'll ever meet. Helpful, fun lecture, but exams are very hard with only 25-30% max.partial mark. Learn andPRACTICE as much as you can! Okay if you keep above the average, even with a failed exam.
Great teacher. Some tricky problems on exams but if you practice the problems he recommends and always pay attention in class you will do well.
Sheesh, i took 12ms instead of 10ms and i didn't do as well as i shoulda. TY for telling ROM (sp?) to shutup sometimes.
He is the coolest professor in Ensc. His teaching might just be decent, but he deserves A+ on the attitude towards students. His exams are kind of tricky, but as long as you work hard, he won't give you a hard time.

very nice and helpfull. Please oh please don't make us write out full lab writeups. Why can't results and discussion be enough?????
never understood what he says and what he teaches and never will
He is da bomb when it comes to teaching. he is cool.
Damm good professor
Best porf ever I met !! You should take it
SFU wont be the same without him, 1 of the best prof ive ever met, If you have the chance, take his classes, you wont regret
So great! You really have a chance to "learn" staff from his lectures. friendly and nice. exame is fun and challenge, average is not too high, but he does scale alot. (B- to A+). if u ever have a chace. don't miss!
Literally the best prof I've ever had. Unlike so many other profs, Ash shows enthusiasm and care for his students. His exams may be hard but the things you'll learn from him is well worth it. Take his classes if you have the chance to, you'd be happy that you did.
Best professor ever. He cares a lot for his students and truely makes sure that you learn things properly and to the heart.
I love him to death.
Intelligent, enthusiastic, patient, and caring. Exams are a bit tricky and hard to study for. Nonetheless, he is great at teaching.
Best prof ever, completly changed my view towards electronics and engineering, very caring and helpful. very fair and funny! love him
this guy is the best prof of all ~ so humorous and with a somehow"hot" accent , clear and solid , fair grading and nice , intelligent . i love him to death .
The best professor ever! No words! Take the courses with Ash...
Amazing professor. Tests are very fair. He always has these weird stories to tell us, really funny.
Was gonna come here and say what everyone else has to say so ill try and make mine different. If he every stopped teaching, it would be a great loss to SFU. Not only did i learn so much, i will never forget him. He honesstly made me believe that my education was the object of his life. And he has that effect on every student.
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas...
Great Prof. Motivates you to be an engineer. Spends alot of time with students. Scales the grades very well at the end.
How could you doubt greatness!!!!
Excellent prof. Enthusiastic and intelligent. Learned everyone's names, even. Clear and thorough teaching. Little tolerance for unmotivated students. Assignments and exams could be tricky, but scaled well. Lab tests were short, fast-paced, and unforgiving. Errors could easily carry through and destroy your mark. Text book was good and easy-to-read.
Excellent professor. I have a great respect for this man's knowledge. He is Cristal clear and he never fails helping students. He is one of the best profs I've ever had. If you have any problems, go to his office and you come back with complete understanding.
Amazing prof! He's very enthusiastic, his lectures were incredibly clear, quizzes were fair, but a bit tricky, and he is always willing to help and explain concepts we may find difficult. Sometimes came in on weekends to help with our labs and answer questions before exams. Take any course you can with him. Curves high, don't piss him off.
AWESOME PROFF. If every prof at SFU was more like Ash than it'd be the best school in Canada.
Cutest Prof ever! :D
good!
The best prof I've ever had. In a semester where ever Ralf Wittenberg struggled to finish the curriculum in time, Ash was done all our material and more, 2 WEEKS AHEAD OF TIME. Very reasonable marking, SUPER clear explanations, tells funny stories, super approachable and nice. Think taking a class with him is a bad idea? False.
Ash !! the best in ensc :) marking for the final exam. He assigns lotz of work but that's all for our benefit :) He scaled the class nicely .His attitude towards each and every student is incredible and he really wants us to learn. He knows each and every one by name :) Ash u rock :)I wish he taught more ensc courses :( ASh is the best
best prof in ensc.work hard
Great Professor!
Best prof ever!!!
best pro. Dun need book in class, but you will read it by yourself. He makes the subject interesting
Best prof ever. Always willing to help students. I wish all the ENSC profs were like him
I learnt a lot from him. His not only a prof but a mentor to me. If there is a future course taught by him , i will definitely enroll into his class.
Best prof ever!! Even if you do really bad on the midterm/final he scales by a lot, I went from a C- to a B. He also is so passonate about his students definetely take a course with him!!
Ash is the best professor I have ever had in my 7 years at SFU. He works you hard, but in the end it's completely worth it because you'll be prepared for any kind of circuit problem. ALWAYS take a class with Ash!
Great prof. Highly recommend him. His exams are extremely hard but completely fair.
An excellent prof, and is pretty fair in terms of marks. The first midterm was hard, but he decided to scale it lower if you do better on the final which was extremely easy. However, marks on labs are unclear.
I am not sure why his rating is this high, but he never hold office hour and the TA he hired was beyond horrible. He cares about the student a lot and is a nice guy. His notes are horrible, scattered over the places. Passionate about his teaching and scales well. Hard exam.
Ash is easily the most engaging engineering professor I've had so far. Yes, his notes may be a bit messy, but he points out important points that students should know for exams, labs and homework. He's helpful in labs and gives adequate feedback.
Ash is the best! So sad this will probably be my last class with him :(
Ash is based god. Best prof in ENSC! Clear, entertaining, always willing to help, stays late to help students in the lab (labs are tough but rewarding). If you put in the work he makes it easy to get a good grade. Wants everyone to succeed. Great guy. Sense of humour is second to none. classic. non "el cheapo" education with this guy!
He is best prof. at SFU. Need to do hard work for good grade. LAST course with him :(
Very nice, entertaining professor and teaches well. His exams are easy too.
Really funny professor.
Funny, helpful professor. You will enjoy his class!
The best prof in ENSC.
Really funny/laid back, assignments were basically just completion. Make sure you practice for the midterm and final and you'll do fine.
Hilarious professor. Very supportive of students and all around nice guy. Projects were unexpectedly fun, and instructions were clear.
Ash please teach all the ensc courses at SFU :) The best prof ever !
hilarious
In his lecture I dont what he is talking about, ash dont care student, 4.4 haha big joke. I heard he was nice before that because he give the answer before exam. you have to learn the theory by your self and I dont know why he focus on lab thats make me laugh, no theory and lab is painful every thing google.
best ensc prof
Ash is a great person and is a well-tenured professor. He has a unique teaching style and is clear about his expectations. Exam questions are often solves by no more than 4-5 lines of writing. He does tend to stick to the textbook material so attendance is not mandatory. A generous grading scale is also in place.
Lecture notes are little vague, but doubling-down on the textbook will suffice. Is very experienced and knows what works and what doesn't. Tests are tricky but never feel impossible. Has a very generous curving policy and provides a "lifeline" second chance to not fail the course. Put time into the course and you will probably learn something.
Ash is a funny guy, and good in the lab. However, his tests are really poorly made. He has a strange curving system. Expect to get low on the test then he will scale the class at the end. Do not trust the grading scheme. It will constantly change throughout the course, and the dates of the exams will constantly change. Always expect an exam.
Horrible, dates on exams change so your personal commitments don't matter, the weight of exams he also changes whenever he wants. The worst prof at SFU does not respect student-prof agreement at the start (course outline). The exams are poorly made, making the averages very low, just a bad experience overall.
Ash is the G O A T. Awesome guy who is always willing to help you out and great lecturer. He's easily approachable and super funny!
Has a good understanding of the subject and is able to deliver that knowledge in an interesting and engaging way. He is a good professor for any class that he teaches, and if you compare him to the rest of the faculty he's a saint. Exams are rough but the subject matter is rough as well since most people aren't cut out to be chemical physicists.
Pros -prepared and can answer any question you have about the material -passionate -funny -good explainer Cons -No excuses in his class, don't miss any labs/quizzes/pretty much anything because he won't care for what causes the absence (ie covid, losses, etc) -Loses patience very easily -Has a knack for making you feel bad about yourself
Doesn't explain the lecture content clearly
Ash made me realize that I am not fit to be an electronics engineer. Truly the GOAT of the Engineering Science department.
Ash uses the most awful marking scheme and then scales the class by an enormous amount. Not sure why he does this and is really unnecessary.
Lectures are fun and engaging, tests are tough but fair.
The best professor in SFU Engineering. He is detail oriented and gives very good feedback. He supports your thought process through puzzles and gives encouragement. :) S
Ash could be an amazing professor if he didn't have the tendency to get defensive when students are asking him questions. Students ask questions because they want to understand the material, not because they are doubting his knowledge of the material.
Scaled the grades so much, but no one understand anything with a 45% final average...
Ash is a nice guy but pretty useless lectures and will scale the grades to his liking at the end of the term.
Lectures are helpful and entertaining, you feel he is one of your friends. Expectations are pretty clear, lab tests are hard to fail as long as you practice before hand. Exams are challenging but not if you practice a lot and can do all of the practice and lecture questions. Ash does his best to make the class fun and for you not to fail
Class attendance was so low for this course I wonder why....
Rating him because he doesnt deserve such a high score on this site. Lecture pointless and did not prepare you for the tests
Lectures are generally pretty useless and the notes are just a mess. The notes only got better once he used another profs notes. Exams are significantly more difficult than any practice or homework he assigns. Prepare to learn everything yourself through the textbook or videos. Watch Razavi Electronics to actually get the concepts.
How does Ash have a 4.1 on this site??? He is a terrible prof and doesn't prepare you at all for exams.
Ash is great, I'm really grateful to have him here at SFU. If you put effort in his class, you will get a good grade. Exams are marked strictly.
Fun and caring professor. He tries his best to ensure students understand the fundamental concepts and the practical topics which will be useful for future courses. Exams are difficult but fair, and lab tests are very straightforward.
Ash runs an engaging class, though tests can be challenging. Using unstuck AI and practicing past questions helped me stay on top of the material. Overall, a worthwhile course if you're willing to put in the work.
goated prof
