Reading the chapters and taking good notes is the key to passing her class. She gives bonus points almost every class. She's got a bit of a dry sense of humor but don't let it intimidate you. She genuinely wants everyone to succeed, but she also isn't going to hold your hand and walk you through it. Work for it, and she'll meet you halfway.

Dr. Rao is definitely not a professor I would recommend. While she says she is open for help during office hours, once attended she is extremely harsh and makes rude comments about your intelligence. Also, she changed her tests due to the number of students reaching out to A+ for help and made them nearly impossible to do well on.

I've always been the straight A student with good study patterns, but after taking Rao you would've never guessed. Her exams are super hard no matter how much you study. She says she wants the students to succeed, but makes A+ tutoring and 4.0 and go stop helping her students b/c they were using old exams. I understand why she's mad, but it helped.

Dr. Rao scared the living hell out of me in the beginning of the semester. She was tough, made her class seem unreasonably difficult, and seemed just plain mean. Most of the reviews about Rao are extreme. Honestly, her class is very hard. She expects a lot from students and her tests reflect that. If an answer is not known, she tells you to look it up rather than telling you. She is very belittling but her office hours are helpful. Would not recommend unless you want a huge challenge/a lot of reading.

Dr. Rao is probably the best bio professor at A&M. Her class is hard and she makes you work for that A, but she truly teaches you biology, not just memorizing lectures. Lab is HARD, but no matter what prof you have it will be. There are some extra credit points, but do her learning objectives as review for exams and youll be fine.

Online biology for non majors is a good science choice if you need one. You have to do the weekly work and put forth some effort. That's all there is to it. If you know how to take an online class successfully, this should work out for you. A big focus of the class was on saving the earth as well as climate change, which seemed a bit political.

Took BIO 113 online. Weekly proctored quizzes, no exams, and various projects. Study for the quizzes more than you would think because some questions are extremely specific. The projects boost your grade so it makes up for the quizzes. If you set aside a couple hours a week for this class, it's not awful but definitely will require some work.

Dr. Rao has a unique sense of humor that can come across as mean but she is an engaging lecturer. She uses Learning Catalytics for LOTS of extra credit. Homework is roughly weekly problem sets on Canvas with multiple attempts and some questions can appear on the exam. Her exams are all MCQ. Lab often didn't correlate with the class topics.

A decently nice teacher I believe but as it was an online class we didn't interact much so I can't say! though the class itself requires you to put in a few hours at least to get by. There was also weekly lockdown browser quizzes which I didn't really appreciate, and some questions that weren't in focus in the reading. a bit of a hard class.

I took this class online so I can't say much about her, but there was a ton a reading. The problem was that I had no idea what she was going to ask on the tests so I always felt unprepared. Overall though it isn't hard and is a good class to take for mandatory science credit. The group project at the end was hard to coordinate but really fun.

This class was doable, but unnecessarily difficult. Everything was lockdown browser, even assignments, modules were only accessible for a week at a time and instructions for assignments were overcomplicated. There were no exams or lectures, only pages of notes and some supplemental videos. Good option for science credit, but def not an easy class.

She's not amazing, but not awful. Just you basic professor for Biology 111. She lectures pretty heavy and her test aren't impossible, but require time to prepare. She is funny though and sassy. She can be a little rude, but isn't everyone when teaching biology. Overall decent prof I would take her again only if i had to tho.

Rao's favorite topic is how we are terrible students. She spends 15 mins each lecture talking about how we should be doing more. She gave frustrating feedback on questions. We were once 2 weeks out from a test, and she said, "If you haven't started studying, it's too late." She is passionate about bio, but frustratingly so. She taught effectively.

"Rao's favorite topic is how we are terrible students" is very apt. Feeling was pretty mutual. While her slides were comprehensive & helpful to study, her tendency to get off topic & an overwhelming number of iClicker questions made her a poor lecturer imo. Frequently deviated from syllabus/schedule & didn't clearly announce what exams would cover.

She didn't have any SI sessions. The times I went up to her for help or with a question, she shooed me away with her hand while saying something under her breath. It wasn't like she was busy... She calls people out in class if they don't get something and thinks cussing is cool to make people laugh. Exams are extremely hard. Iclicker questions!
