I took her BIO 100 class online. It was structured nicely and fairly easy to follow. Ms Chawla always answered my emails in a timely manner. Overall good class and good teacher.

Ashima Chawla was a good professor to me she would check up on how I was doing and would even let me know I was missing some assignments and to get them turned in and she would offer her help if it was needed. Ashima Chawla is also very understanding and easy to get in contact with she responds very quickly. I would give her a 10/10!

For Spring 2023 I enrolled in BIO 100 + LEC. Overall Professor Chawla provides ample extra credit throughout the semester and offers help when she notices you may be falling behind on assignments. Stay on top of your assignments, labs and quizzes as this course is a heavy workload.

Overall Professor Chawla has provided students with extra credit and gives great feedback. I would definitely take this course again.

She is one of the few professors that I have made contact with on a Sunday that has responded on that same sunday. She is willing to work with students who have circumstances outside the normal. She gives good feedback on assignments and she reaches out if she notices a student falling behind or in need.

This teacher is really laid back and kind, She cares about her students and gives clear instructions. There is not too much homework given and if there is they aren't too difficult. Always makes sure you are on top of assignment and always makes sure everyone that they can ask for help. Overall great teacher and I would take this class again.

I say that this professor does a good job with her lectures which, for the most part, explain all of the topics, that might appear on quizzes or exams well. She also always provides great feedback quickly whenever I get stuck on something and message her about it. Besides from moving on from lecture slides too quickly, she did a great job teaching.

I think Professor Chawla was very good with providing interactive homework that made me feel like I was actually doing things in the class rather than just sitting at a screen and taking tests but I instead got to go around and experiment with different plants and chemicals.

The Bio100 class was switched from in person to all online with two different professors (1-Labs, 1-Lectures). Class had lots of issues that wasn't professor Chalwa's fault. Professor Chawla had most of the work dumped on her and did a wonderful job trying to keep up with grading, communication and patience. I would highly recommend Chawla.

I've taken BIO 181 before and got a D. I thought I just really didn't like biology and it wasn't for me but I decided to give it one more chance with professor Chawala. She is the BEST professor I've ever had, honestly. She helped me fall in love with biology. She is very understanding and gives amazing lectures that are easy to understand! 100/10!

Bio 181 with professor Chawla has been a great class id recommend to anyone. She is a very helpful teacher that makes sure everyone understands material by checking work and helping if students are stuck. she gives very few assignments and doesn't try to make things hard on you, she's a teacher who wants you to succeed and not be overwhelmed.

Professor Chawla is very nice and understanding! She will do everything in her power to help you pass the class. The assignments are clear and very easy to navigate through. I would suggest completing the labs prior to the due date so that you are prepared for any of the quizzes.

Chawla is very caring and wants you to succeed. She's very easy to reach when you have questions. Each week you'll complete a quiz on the lecture and exit ticket then a lab and a small quiz about the lab by the end of the week. She doesn't grade harshly just get all your work in and study for the exams by going over old quizzes.

The class was relatively easy as long as you pay attention and get all the work and labs done. She even pushed out some of my work so I could be stress free on my honeymoon. Would recommend taking her class.

I took the summer course and it was very manageable. The first few labs require purchased items, but the remaining just require reading/videos. The professor is responsive and very nice with grading. You also get two chances to take quizzes, and both the exam prep and quizzes are helpful for the exam.

This was a 8 week class so there isn't much room for a break. Professor Chawla got back to me in a timely manner when I had questions and is very understanding. Very encouraging to get things done

I took it online, she answers emails quick, is caring about students, and wants everyone to succeed. Offers a little bit of extra credit, but the exams are majority of your grade.

Took this over the summer and it was tough. I would highly recommend choosing her class if it is spread throughout the entirety of a semester. Pretty heavy workload, tests and quizzes are the biggest portion of your grade.

She is the best teacher to take, as the course is a little challenging as acknowledged at the beginning of the course. She is also a nice/caring teacher and is willing to help with anything to make the course more helpful for you if you have struggled with things, I would recommend this class to anyone who needs to take a science.

She is a very nice teacher but does assign a lot of homework. I took a summer accelerated class so I understand why. I had 8 assignments due each, which included an exit ticket, a lab and then a quiz for the lab and section you are working in. It was not too difficult but it is important to either start early or mange the assignments.

Their teaching style was very helpful, as it was easy lectures and the quizzes after every lecture were perfect reviews and practices. The labs and lab quizzes also displayed the sections very well.

They have a good ability to teach as the lectures that were easy to understand, and the quizzes also helped really understand the material. And the labs were also easy to complete and made it easier to understand the topic of each section.

Chawla was very professional and made sure to slow down when class seemed to be confused on the topics. Study guide was helpful for the exams. The professor does have to cover a lot material but it does go by fast.

As long as you stick to the study guide and put in a bit of effort you should pass the class. She is picky when it comes to labs and homework where she can take off up to 5 points on each one if answers are wrong or unclear.

Professor Chawla has been my favorite professor. She's understanding about surprise circumstances, but also holds you accountable and gives you insightful feedback. She is wonderful at preparing you for quizzes and exams by using a study guide during lectures and then reviewing. I loved this course!

Professor Chawla is great teacher for any type of learner! Be prepared to study hard for tests. You don't have to use the textbook. Instead, all of the needed information is on her slides which she posts to Canvas with video, pictures, and bullet points. Would 100% take again.

I enjoyed taking BIO181 This semester. Ms. Chawla would always take the time to answer my questions, and thoroughly walk me through the steps of labs and assignments so I could achieve Success. The PowerPoint Slides really help prepare for the tests, and I never felt like I was caught off guard. I would definitely recommend this class.

Gives one hw assignment every 2 weeks (covers 2 chapters), which doubles as a study guide for the tests, and goes over it before the test to ensure everyone has the correct answers while studying. Open to changing due dates/test dates. Drops lowest test and lab grade. Overall did a good job and I would take again.

Professor Chawla is an dedicated professor who not only knows what she is talking about, but genuinely wants her students to know the material as well. She is always open and receptive to questions. Be aware that this class does require some dedicated time outside of lecture to fully digests the material. But if you put in the work you'll succeed

Professor Chawla is awesome!! She's very receptive when a student has a question and always responds to emails. Obviously the class isn't easy simply due to the material, but Prof. Chawla tries to help everyone understand the material. Very dedicated teacher, and I'm super happy to have been in her class!

Hard subject to learn, so I wouldnt put too much pressure on Professor Chawla. She will grade you accurately, consistently, on time, and with feedback every time. She knows the subject well and answers questions thoroughly.

Professor Chawla is incredibly knowledgeable of biology. In this class I was able to deepen my fundamental knowledge of the subject. She allowed me to carry out a project with an honors contract. Very positive experience!

As is, I'm just not the best student when it comes to science classes so that was the main reason I rated the difficulty as I did. She was very good at explaining the criteria, first class that the exams were actually going over the criteria in the presentation. Definitely a class you shouldn't miss on attendance though

Visuals in lectures were very helpful. Homework that is given is very similar to the quizzes and exams. Just make sure you pay attention to the lectures and homework. Labs can be a but confusing but at the end of the day it was all settled.

You must pay attention and follow along with her logic during the lectures. If you get distracted, you may fall behind and get lost during the lecture. She is very knowledgeable, as she is a great resource if you're stuck or confused. Her Kahoots are very helpful as a brief refresher on past topics.

Super chill and really wants you to do well. She gives you ALL the resources, explains things clearly, and is pretty understanding if life happens. She'll take missing work. BUT you got to show up. Like, If you miss class, you're kinda on your own trying to figure out what happened, and it can be hard to catch up. i 100% recommended to take her!!

She gives homework packets for study guides that are graded for completion and not accuracy and does PowerPoints from the textbook that you don't really need. As long as you study the PowerPoints (especially the pictures) and use the homework packets, then it is much easier because she does go pretty fast through the lecture.

This professor does a great job going over what's most important and provides all of the material necessary to succeed. She posts all of the PowerPoints online and gives nearly no homework. There's a lot of material to cover but she's happy to help and slow down if anyone's confused. The tests are relevant to what's taught. Would highly recommend.

Professor Chawla sets expectations from the jump because she wants you to be successful and have a thorough understanding of the concepts she teaches. She is fast-paced and obviously cares about what she does, and makes it exciting. She is knowledgeable & always willing to help you if you ask for it. I have had a great semester learning from her.

She gives the right amount of work needed without being overwhelmed by deadlines and plenty of time for quizzes. She reminds you pretty frequency whenever quizzes or test are approaching.

The Professor is fabulous! Feel free and be sure to ask the professor to slow down if needed because she can be quite fast moving during lectures. She will slow down and help where you need it. The grading is fair and is transparent. Would recommend!

All of the information that you need to do well on the exams is in a PowerPoint presentation that you go over together in class.

Professor Chawla is incredibly kind & a brilliant professor. Attending class is important because she covers a lot and tests are frequent. She truly cares about students and even asks for feedback to improve the course. She's one of the most thoughtful professors I've had and I would highly recommend her to all students.

Attendance is mandatory to get a good grade but all her tests are based on what is gone over during lectures anyway. Homework is graded based on completion and could be done during class while she is lecturing. To get a good grade on exams, study the PowerPoints. Even examples in PowerPoints are used as test questions.

Professor Chawla cares about her students. She wants her students to learn, and goes through great feats do so. The class is also manageable. I liked the way she gives her classes. Everything was so organized, but as an international student, it's kind of difficult to comprehend her accent. Also, since it's a large class, she writes on the board in cursive letters, which makes it difficult to see sometimes, but I definitely recommend her.

Wonderful professor! She really cares about her students and their success and will help in any way she can. She uses the whiteboard to teach instead of reading off of a slideshow. The slideshow and study guide tell you exactly what will be on the exam so if study those and you'll easily pass her class.

She was very nice about her grading and very lenient on when you can turn in late work she cares about your work being turned in. Yes, she might take a couple points off, but that's better than nothing.
