I took oral communication in the summer and was scared because had dropped a class at Allegheny. Took the class at Braddock. She is full time at another campus but made speech interesting. Broke info down and had activities to understand public speaking
I took her in the fall as one of my last classes. I got more out of this class than just a speech class. Heard nightmares about this class but loved it. Got more out of this class than just speech and she actually cares
Would take again love this class one of the best teachers I've had. Take her!
Dr. Clark was great. She cared about her student's and I was always able to email her with questions. I was terrified of taking this class, but she makes it easy for students to take the class. She uses activities to help the class bond and understand material. She actually goes over her midterm with the class so everyone can do well!
She is great. Have her this semester. failed last class. Works with students if sick or emergency. attendance is important and participation. Like activities and doesnt lock students out. friend told me to take her and would tell you to.
She wants you to pass and she wants you to learn. She relates to her students and she doesnt think she is funny. She is hilarious.
love the class... had to repeat. take her only one course a semester. get into that course
take her! Was scared and made me feel better about talking. Makes you participate in class. Wish taught more classes. This school needs more instructors like her
Class is about growing don't need to be a great speaker! Was scared but earned a B because used feedback. Participation and attendance matter. Cares about students.
Take this class! Failed at Allegheny and this class was not just about speech but growing and experience
Took her in the summer. great instructor didn't think would pass class. Only downside is she only teaches one class and is at night. won't regret taking a night class if you have her. if you communicate with her you will pass and learn a lot. friends with people from class because of her. failed before taking her. not too bad to look at either
I took this class 2 times. This was the 3rd time. She is great. Be ready to participate. Big chunk of class is participation. Actually makes class fun. If there is an issue she will talk to you privately which is great
So I took this class before and failed. Dr. Ashley makes the class enjoyable even though it is a night class. She tries to break up the information so you aren't overwhelmed. I wrote this in the survey I filled out but she needs to revamp the Speech program. She needs to train others how to teach the class. She has helped me outside classroom too.
Take her! Even though will be in a night class it will be worth your wild. I had a professor at Allegheny dropped class and took Ms. Clark. Just take her
Best prof and speech teacher at CCAC. Worth taking night class and should be ready to learn. This class will change your outlook on your education
I took this class as one of my last classes. I was scared to death of public speaking and had dropped the class before. Ashley expects a lot from her students but in a good way. She knows each students potential and encourages you to reach that potential and to see that in you. She is funny, encouraging and wants her students to learn. Best teacher
Final an instructor who cares. I just finished her speech class and this is the most respected and useful class Ive taken. Im an adult learner and she cares about me my family and my education
I was terrified to take this class and saved it for my last semester and just graduated. Not only did I improve in speaking, she cared about her students. She found me at graduation and told me how proud she was of me. I changed my schedule to take this night class (Only teaches one class at night only negative). Recommended by my advisor.
I was terrified of taking this class. Professor Ashley makes it enjoyable and learned more in this class then whole time here. Im repeating this course and what a difference. She actually cares about her students. First semester full time so she made some changes to course but nothing big. And going to free book. But if doesnt puts all notes up
I took this class as a late start 10/19-12/9. Had to write and present 3 speeches (5 min max), watch 3 speeches and post analysis to DB and comment on 9 classmates analysis. Ms Ashley is friendly, provided great feedback, answered questions and allowed opinions and experiences to be expressed without judgement. I would recommend this class.
Ashley is an awesome teacher. As others have said, she cares about her students and is understanding. As long as you show up to class and stay on top of your assignments, you will do well. She values participation, and class discussion. Speech with Ashley was easily one of the best classes I have taken at CCAC.
Im online student and have dropped this class in past because of professors and reading their syllabus in first day. Glad got into her online. She records her lectures so have power points, voice and YouTube videos. The class has discussion boards hit easy to manage while learning. Also free online book! Anywhere I can save I like it
There isn't a book! It's free so the book is online. I dropped my last online speech because the guy said don't ask questions. I reached out and she reached back quickly to emails and messages.
like said below free textbook. she is awesome I was going to take the class at North campus and through North's online but was full so was put into this section best thing I ever did. Take her you won't regret it
I was taking the class in person and with Covid 19 went online format. Most of instructor's weren't organized or willing to help. She made class time available if wanted the schedule, but made discussion boards how we earned points. Most of all she helped me outside the classroom. Making sure we knew what was going and updating us and helping.
Favorite class! Favorite teacher! She actually cares what happens in and out of classroom. When we have questions about what is happening with classes who to speak to about concerns or just giving advice she does this in a heartbeat. Wish she taught English too or more classes. If you respect her she respects you.
I registered for this class a few semesters ago with another professor. It was overwhelming. If you want a non threatening environment, where you are still challenged, pushed to do your best while learning. This is the class
She had a lot of lectures, and she mainly read off of those slides. It was hard to pay attention in her class, but overall, she was easy on grading.
I had Dr. Ashley in the fall and just graduated. She was one of my favorite teachers and loved the in class assignments it made us not sit and just listen to lectures. It allowed for us to apply scenarios in situations. Loved that she did have Power Points to aid in her lectures. I wanted to quit school and class and she encouraged me to keep going
Dr. Clark was fantastic. I looked forward to going to class and wanting to learn. I enjoyed not just listening to lectures day after day. She does have an attendance policy but you can miss 3 to 4 classes. She respects you but will work with you. If you put the effort into this class you will have an experience not just a grade
liked her because her online class had lectures that were recorded. it was like being in class and she returned emails quickly. Free online book
Dr. Ashley is good with English as a second language students. Made me feel good giving speeches
Currently taking this class. I was nervous to have the class hybrid and zoom. She makes the class engaging when on zoom ( actually knows technology) and her blackboard is easy to navigate. Her lectures are entertaining and uses power points with zoom to help us learn
Taking now part live on computer and blackboard. Uploads assignments, can actually use technology and clear in directions
Currently taking class in Zoom/Online. Can approach her and talk to her and class isn't as scary as thought. I am a student with disability and she interacts with me in a great way. I was worried about the class but actually enjoying the class.
Do not take with her. She gives everyweek a quiz, and she ask you to show your work step by step even for simple things if the paper is not clear, she will mark it 0. I feel that not fair because she takes a lot off points. The test she give is very hard.
Not sure what the person with the tests is talking about. We never had a test. If it is an online hybrid I loved it. I am in a Monday /Wednesday class. We meet Mondays and Wednesdays are our time to work in blackboard. Super easy for my work schedule
I was worried as a student with disabilities taking a public speaking class. I excelled in her class and made me feel comfortable with my classmates. When you have anxiety and other factors this is a concern but she made the class enjoyable and I improved
Honors Oral Communications. Professor Clark was great - offered extra credit, always responds quickly, cares about students. Her classes go by quickly and she's never too hard on students. Also doesn't make you buy a textbook. Class is fun and enjoyable
I took Dr. Ashley for Honors speech. She challenged us throughout the class, made us choose topics to make us grow and did activities that were fun and can relate to. I would recommend taking her in the honors section. She asks for feedback to improve class
This has to be the easiest Professor Ive had. The instructions to assignments are clear as well as are due dates and time. I took this online so participation points were counted based on the discussion board. She offers multiple extra credits that are easy and effortless. Also shes easy to reach out by email and responds back on time.
I had Dr. Ashley in a hybrid version. She is amazing cares about her students and I enjoyed her class. She doesn't make the subject terrifying and wants to see students succeed. One of the best instructors at CCAC
Im taking her hybrid class right now I was scared of speech she is great glad chose this. Used this site as feedback before and def a good teacher
She records her power points so learning is easy and like being in class
She gives a lot of extra credit which is nice and I am taking her Zoom class part is on zoom and part is in Blackboard she tells you exactly what she wants and expects and is very clear
She is a great professor and is my second time taking class. My first time was horrible with another instructor. If you communicate with her about whats going on she will work with you. But participation matters if you arent willing to participate then not class for you
Super sweet professor, I took her class via zoom. She makes her class very easy and straightforward-definitely lecture heavy but she ends class early a lot and keeps things relatable. The hardest part is speeches which is annoying no matter who teaches but she definitely makes it simple and walks you through how to do everything.
I took a Zoom format. I agree with there being a lot of lectures but in this format I get it. I will say she had 4 activities we did and only met once a week. She did mention a lot of the activities can't convert. I would like to see her convert some more. She cares about her students. She makes the speeches as non threatening as possible.
I didnt want to take this class and wasnt sure if I was going to be a fan of this professor for first few weeks. But when I had a family concern come up I spoke with her. She helped me through and actually asked how I was doing she actually cared. Its not her fault she teaches this subject. At least she makes it engaging and actually cares
You have to put work into your speeches and improve in your speeches to earn your grade. She posts power points which has her teaching which breaks down info. One thing is she doesn't follow syllabus but she tells you what to work on each week
I took the class fully online. Easy to navigate and Power Points are recorded. Feedback was detailed and given back pretty quickly for an online class.
Professor Clarks speech class was a lot of work, but Im glad I took it. She lets you know where you can improve with your speeches, and is thorough when going over her PowerPoints.
I started this class last week and I have taken the class 2 times before with different instructors.; Already the class seems more structured and she has replied to all my questions. Only confusing thing is her name changed in middle of week 1. the last instructor had told me look in syllabus. She has responded in a few hours with clear answers
I am currently in class. She keeps it interesting and is explaining how to do speeches. Second time taking class and first teacher wasn't helpful. I enjoy her enthusiasm and brain breaks
I am taking her online class. The class is organize, easy to follow, she records her lectures with power points and does weekly check in reminders. This is the second time taking the course when took it before there was no clear directions. She made the class simple to follow
I am in Dr Clark-F 11 am zoom class and is one of the most caring professors. You can tell how much effort she puts into the class, cares about students and gets excited . if you want an engaging class and to learn this is the class for you. It makes me sad that she doesnt feel appreciated. She made a difference in my life when I was struggling
Cares about your success. Offers many extra credit opportunities.
I entered this class as a seasoned speaker expecting to be bored. Dr Ashley challenged me, encouraged me, and provided me with great feedback. You can really tell how much she loves teaching and values her students.
I hope this is Dr. Ashley’s page I know farrainol now but she is amazing. I was terrified of speech and the class. She meets with me outside of office hours and makes everyone feel comfortable
Pros: - homework is not that difficult - enough material and guidance if you have the patience to look for it Cons: - she doesn't seem to know how the online platform works - deadlines are not registered, assignments are not in order, sometimes assignments are not clear
Her class is easy to navigate, records how to navigate, will walk you through assignments, actually interacts with you in the online, and posts everything in a module area that’s easy to follow. Her feedback is so helpful. It’s about improvement in her class and will help you learn. Her PowerPoints are recorded like you’re class
one of the most caring and kind professors. I was struggling with who I am personally and she listened. She also gives amazing feedback, detailed in assignments, provides class, PP, examples and easy to navigate class. If you have trouble navigating this classroom even after the video recording of how to there may be a learning issue
I took this class last semester and I’ve had a touch semester this semester. Very thankful for her as a professor. She cared, understood that school not most important thing. As a student who isn’t from American she was great!
I had Dr. Ashley last semester she gave great feedback and only online professor that had recorded lessons. The first time took class it was a 25 page syllabus so like that had a lesson in front of me. Changed deadlines to help students too. Very accessible outside class
Free book in the online format which is amazing. She worked with me on deadlines due to my work schedule changing. She had recorded lectures and sent out emails at the beginning of week and the middle to make sure doing work and on track. I took fully online and about to finish the class. Only 4 speeches. Second time taking class glad it was her
Normally I don't mind knowing my professors as people, but I felt she was supremely unprofessional. I'm actually older than her by a year, and it felt like she was trying to relate to people just out of hs rather than teach. Not a fan of her unclear delivery and feedback. I felt like I learned nothing. Easily the worst class I've had. Easy grader.
I just finished this class! Best teacher I have ever had! She didn't grade us on our opinions and work. Very responsive. She truly cares about her students and relates to us. I wish taught more courses and ccac hired more professors like her! No quizzes. Discussion board speeches and outlines. Had grades back super quick. made me feel confident
This is the third time taking class and ended up in her class. she is so caring, easy to speak to and will help you do your best. I have a disability and made me feel heard and seen. She does make you participate but makes the class fun! She shows us her personal side which I respect. She talks to us as adults
Amazing professor! She is interactive and gives grades and feedback quickly. I am non traditional student and was invested in me and understood sometimes family comes first. Very interactive. Has power points to help us learn and brain breaks
Very clear feedback. I like that we got our grades and feedback on assignments within a week which is sometimes rare. You do have to participate but she made it fun and non intimidating. I actually liked the class despite being a speech class. Only down side is you need other students who are willing to participate in the zoom class
Most amazing professor I have encountered since beginning my higher education journey! Soft spoken, easy to listen to, answers questions in a considerate manner. Her teaching methods have proven to be pensive and analytical. Taking her class was actually quite fun! She harbors a great sense of humor and is organized with her instructing plan!
I didn't put my best foot forward in the class, but she understands and talks through late assignments and missing work with you. Most instructors don't even discuss turning in late work. Make sure you do the discussion boards its easy to forget. However, one one of the most approachable and caring professors I've had
Am an international student and was afraid to take this class as first classes. Helped me through understanding elements and what needs to be done. made me feel comfortable
One of the only professors who records lectures on Power point and created navigation video so knew were everything was. Her syllabus isn't as detailed as others, but she does make herself accessible outside of class. haven't talked to one of my other fully online teachers, and she would send many messages during the week. Great
Dr. Clark is a fantastic teacher! She always came prepared and had well thought out lectures & assignments ready. She is very understanding about late work and is also accessible outside of class for questions. You can tell that she has a passion about what she does, and it is refreshing to see! She also gave helpful feedback on work. Loved her!
Amazing professor! She takes time to listen to her students, talks about ideas and issues going on outside the classroom, and gives quick and easy to understand feedback. CCAC needs more instructors who care about their students and have her passion
She really cares about her student and knows her stuff. She's an effective professor and it's hard to fail, not because she's easy but because she prepares people. Show up to class and read what she tells you to read and you'll be all good
This is the 3rd time taking class. What a difference. Her lectures are recorded so its like in the classroom and answers questions and grades back within 3 days. I took at north and couldn't get the professor to answer one question on his online course. this is the type of instructor ccac needs more of
I am in my 40s and this was the first class back after a long hiatus from School. Dr. F's online format (name change from Clark) was easy to follow and appreciated her recorded lectures throughout the class. It was like being in the classroom. She also was understanding of having a family and obligations. best prof to return to school with
This was a great online class with lectures recorded and felt like we were in a virtual classroom. Feedback was quick and concise
Took this class with another prof that was full time it was a nightmare. Currently in Dr. Ashley's class. Her lectures for online are recorded like you are in her class, and grades quickly back. Definitely recommend
Professor Clark is a very friendly and active professor. Her assignments are not very hard and she gives clear instructions. Lots of fun in-class activities and extra credit opportunities. Gives good feedback and not a harsh grader.
Best online format I have encountered from a professor. She has pre records lectures, has an intro video on where to access, and she sends emails at beginning of week and mid week. Her feedback is quick which I like but with that comes lack of discussion board responses from her. Its a trade off. She responds to email very quickly
Third time taking class and I am so glad in her class. She is so understanding and connects with students
Best professor ever! She cares and understands students. I wish more profs like her
Inclusitivioty. She takes time to understand/know cultures, pronouns, and has examples that include everyone. I truly appreciate that in a professor because sometimes my culture isn't represented in the classroom. She uses examples that are diverse which makes the class more relatable.
Dr. Ferrainolo was amazing. Her clear grading, feedback, and timely grading made a 6 week challenging class easy to handle. I actually enjoyed her class and her lectures. She actually cares about her students and relates material to the real world
Great professor! I transferred into her class after reading another syllabus. Best decision. She was easy to contact and speak to, and would give detailed feedback to help with speeches. I liked that her lessons for a fully online class are recorded like you are in class
Dr. Ashley Farrainlo (Sp?) has been great in the online setting. She records her lectures like you are in person or on Zoom. This is so helpful instead of just reading material or trying to find the information. Also, she would respond within 2 hours to any question I had
Prof Ferrainolo (Was Clark) is amazing! She gives very good feedback on your speeches and she is very fun in class. She has inspired me to study communications myself! I will miss having her as my professor.
She was amazing. Her instruction in Zoom was easy to follow, assignments were clear with great and quick feedback. She explained material and answered questions. The only downside was no one talked in my Zoom class which it made it hard to interact, but I appreciate her calling on students to get their opinions to help the lack of participation
I really enjoyed Dr. Ferrainolo's class. Public speaking is very anxiety-inducing for me, but the way she taught the class and how the course was set up, it was truly a breeze. The only downside was that this class was over a 6-week period, so the assignments were very close together, with little room to breathe in between. Great teacher, though!
I like that she gave examples of exactly what to do for your assignments (outline and speeches). I could take her example and fill in my own information. She gave over 25 points extra credit in the class and was able to ask for help and received it. However, you do need to participate in class and discussions. I got to grade myself on participation
Professor Ashley's COMM100 is great, especially for online learning. The recorded lectures and quick feedback make the class engaging. unstuck study was a huge help for study prep too. Definitely recommend this class!
Dr. Ashley worked with me this semester when I felt uncomfortable in an environment as a trans male. She built a community where I feel safe in giving presentations. Her rubrics and grading is clear and allows students to express opinions
I took this class with a professor online at North campus and it was a mess, and I transferred into Ashley's class and finally able to learn. Her instructions are Clear, her rubric is clear, and she gives examples. I did like that she recorded her lessons so it was like her being in front of me teaching.
By far the worst "professor" I've ever had in my life, from preschool to now. In her class, you write at a kindergarten level. There are few grades, and she is the worst grader, taking it that she is confused if it doesn't look like a child wrote it. If you have her, bless your soul, and prepare to feel like you can't ever do anything right.
I thought she was really nice at first
Currently taking her 6 week honors course and one of my favorite professors. She was accessible outside of class when I had a question/concern and worked with my schedule. If taking 6 week course it is a fast paced course, but I am fearful of speaking but she makes it a comfortable environment to learn and is ready to support. Truly appreciate it
I didn't want to take this class, but she broke down the assignments and improved my speaking.she literally lays out each assignment and gives examples. If follow it it's an easy A
I see a lot of mixed reviews on here, but wanted to rate even though not done with the class. I thought my grade on a speech was not right. I asked her to review a certain section of a recorded speech. She agreed and added points. First time I've had a professor (FSU visiting student) agree to even review a grade and admit they missed something.
Great honors course. Definitely take her for a great course, easy honors credit, and fast feedback. The honors section is a TED Talk and was fun
I took this place online with a professor from North and it was horrible. I pulled out and joined Dr. F's class and it was great. Organized, recorded lectures, and quick feedback which was appreciated in a 6 week summer class
I took her for a Zoom class in spring. It is only once a week, student examples, and gives feedback to tell you how to improve
As an honors student I appreciated her acknowledgment of how busy we were, and she gave us time in class to work on our TED Talk which helped a lot. Gave lots of extra credit and she gave specific feedback to be able to earn a great grade
I took the class fully online. She records her lectures which is very helpful and I received responses very quickly. Also, clear rubrics were given. It is a lot of work for a 6 week course but that is the modality I chose to take the course in. I learned a lot and improved in speaking
Worked with me during family concerns and issues and was understanding. If you show up for the class and participate you will learn a lot
This is the 3rd time taking the class with the 3rd professor. She is the only one who I had that provided feedback, responds, and actually listens. I actually have more than one assignment and graded on my participation which is a relief based on past experiences. She grades pretty quickly which is nice
I took this in person in a 10 week session. It was easy learning and did activities and could take 8 week class while finished this one she is very clear on grading
Nervous to take the class but ended up being great. Can tell she enjoys the subject and teaching
