Crazy vague about expectations and too specific on grades
Awful. Do not take. I took 6000 level courses before her and this was one of the hardest classes I've taken. No MC and swears we won't have MC when we get to upper level classes (lies). If she says you don't have to know it, don't believe her. No extra credit. Ton of material, super fast lectures, very specific test Q's. Pass on her if can.
Dr. Peart is a solid choice for Anatomy and Physiology 2 at Auburn. My biggest advice going into the class is after every lecture going home and converting that days slides into notecards and doing the learning objectives. This will prepare you for the weekly quizzes and the exams. Study little by little and not all at once.
Dr P wants you to learn how to learn, not learn to take a test and pass a class. She really cares that you understand the information, and I wish I had taken her class sooner in my undergraduate career. Her teaching style is similar to those in immunology, cell bio , and biochem & they would've been so much easier with the solid foundation first.
The worst professor Ive ever had. She doesnt post her notes which is the bare minimum, does pop quizzes, gives us no time to take notes so everyone in the class just takes pictures of the board,is the only professor for A&P1 who does open ended tests with 30 questions to do in 50mins,and threatened to give me a 0 on test i missed while i had covid.
Definitely pass on this class if you want to keep your sanity. Long specific tests that are all short answer, pop quizzes to penalize those who dont show up, wont post or send out powerpoint from lecture, very aggressive regarding any feedback on her teaching style. I could go on. Save yourself the headache
The class is tough, but honestly the short answer tests aren't as bad as they seem. Dr. Peart gives partial credit and extra credit occasionally--just don't ask her for it or you won't get it. Her lectures are actually pretty helpful, but it's true that she won't post slides or give them out even if you missed class for Covid.
This class is already so difficult, and she makes it worse by giving really long, short answer tests that many of the questions have multiple parts to them. So, half the time the tests are impossible to finish. If your try to email her regarding anything, she is very rude. Save yourself the failing grade and take Shobnom!!!!!!
If you are reading this. Just stay away. Peart is a very difficult professor. Her exams are all short answer and too long to complete in the time period. There are no notes posted and she expects us to take pics of the board so she can fly through the slides. Save yourself the trouble and take someone else. No matter how much you try you wont pass
She is the worst teacher Ive ever had and probably will ever have in my college experience. She gives no multiple choice, all short answer tests/quizzes, and gives pop quizzes two days after giving us 100s of slide of notes. Not to mention she makes us take pictures of the notes from the board of a class with 200+ people in it. DO NOT TAKE
I was almost admitted to the hospital because of this class. I have never been so overwhelmed by a class before. No multiple choice, word banks, or anything to help hint on tests. Is extremely rude when you try to reach out to her for any reason. In general, she is very condescending to the point its almost disrespectful. safe yourself & dont take.
This professor has ruined my interest in Anatomy. Flies through 50 slides per class and gives pop quizzes as soon as the unit is over so you have to study every day. Tests are insanely hard, no multiple choice and at least 5 essay questions. She does not seem to care about her students. Do not take!!
No respect for a teacher who genuinely does not care about her students. Close to reporting her with the science department about her lack of teaching and insane expectations. DO NOT TAKE.
She only teaches straight from powerpoints, BUT she doesn't post them. So you HAVE to go to class if you want the info, but the whole classtime is spent trying to take pics of the slides and it's so hard to learn. The tests are all open ended with 3-5 essay style q's. No word bank ever. She doesn't respond to student feedback. Take anyone else.
Dr. Peart is very underrated. People complain about her testing style being short answer and essay questions but she gives so much partial credit its ridiculous. Ive made As on test while missing a ton of questions bc of her giving partial credit and students mistake their lack of understanding as her being a sucky prof which isnt the case.
Dr. Peart is an amazing professor who is only trying to help you actually understand concepts. A lot of reviews complain about how you have to show up to class because she doesn't post the powerpoint lectures, but the literally the whole point of college is to actually go to class so I don't see a problem. Really helpful for the medical field.
Based off how she runs her class, you can tell there isn't much respect for her students. Insanely hard tests, no multiple choice, all short answer and essay. Pop quizzes out of nowhere. Doesn't post lecture slides, you have to take pictures of the board in class. Rude about making up exams or quizzes. Avoid if you can.
Honestly, Dr. Peart is not as horrible as the reviews. I am taking her again next semester. Her tests are short answer & cover a lot, but everything she lectures on comes straight from the textbook. She wants her students to learn the material well. The "pop quizzes" are at the end of a unit, so you know when to expect them if you go to class.
Peart goes through her slides very fast in class and makes you take pictures of the slides which have a lot of information on them. Personally, I take notes because it is more organized and helps me learn better, so I spend a lot outside of class taking notes. Not enough time to finish her fill-in-the-blank and short answer exams and pop quizzes.
She makes a topic that is already hard to comprehend even more difficult. In addition, you can study for hours over her content and lectures and still fail her exam. She can give partial credit on test but considering how hard it is already it doesn't help very much. She's also really scarey.
There is no reason for an online class to be this hard. The group project is graded very subjectively and the feedback given was not helpful. The tests are extremely hard for a class that you basically have to teach yourself. If you can then definitely find another teacher.
Dr. Peart is unappreciated due to her teaching and testing style. Anatomy is one of the most lecture heavy classes in general, so outside effort is to be expected. She teaches and tests in a way that ensures you understand the material. She gives "pop quizzes" but often hints at them or can be expected. Bonus points come if they are not asked for.
She is an amazing professor. Is anatomy hard? Yes. It will be regardless of the teacher. So if you are looking for an easy teacher to make the class easy you will never find it. This class is hard because of the material NOT the teacher. In fact Peart does an amazing job at teaching and I was blessed to have her instead of anyone else.
Dr. Peart is not a bad teacher, anatomy is just hard. Her tests are fill-in-the-blank, but they're never trick questions. They are very straightforward, and if you study and read the textbook you will do fine. She gives lots of partial credit and really wants to get to know her students. She is a great professor and I would definitely recommend
Dr. Peart is a good and fair teacher, the material itself is just difficult. She provides ample opportunity to meet with her and discuss questions. Tests are fill-in-the-blank/ short answers but she gives a lot of partial credit and is clear on her expectations. Your willingness to dedicate time outside of class will determine your grade.
People are over exaggerating the toughness of Peart's tests/class. Go to class, take pictures of her slides, and handwrite them after class and you'll keep up. She is very funny and also caring, this is just generally a tough class to take. Not easy by any means, but that's not Peart's fault. Good professor.
It almost seems like Peart makes anatomy harder than it needs to be. She only teaches off her powerpoints, of which she doesn't send out to students. To enforce attendance, she does pop quizzes that are very difficult, meaning you could have perfect attendance and still lose points. Also, open ended questions for all tests. Avoid this professor.
IF YOU VALUE YOUR MENTAL HEALTH DO NOT TAKE HER! she really deceived us, told us in the beginning that we would have online quizzes and east homework and that was true until the 3rd week where we started to have pop quizzes and hard homeworks with one attempt. The exams are so hard and very hard to make a good grade on. fr do not take
please do not take. she is a nice person but she is not a good teacher. she only reads off her powerpoints and the final is supposed to be 2 units, but it is the length of 4. This is ridiculous like please do not take her all the reviews of ppl liking her idk what is wrong w them
the reason i have depression
Peart is a tough teacher, but she is fair. She made herself easy to contact which really helped me to get some help from her to prepare for the tests. her tests are hard, you better study a lot for them. But it makes it worth it because then you leave the class actually knowing the information and understanding it. Also she is funny and is rly nice
DO NOT TAKE. Tests are very difficult - all fill in the blank and essay questions. Difficult pop quizzes. She doesn't actually teach - she just reads off the power points. She can be very demeaning, tough, and strict. She is an ex-marine so she takes toughness very seriously.
Took Dr. P for histology and histology lab. Lots of material so lots of studying. Had quizzes for both. Group project in class was annoying, and solo project in lab wasn't that bad. Test are doable but really have to prepare for them. Lab final was kind of insane being mostly fill in the blank.
The people leaving a bad review, expected this to be an easy A class. You have to put the work into this class to do well. She is very approachable and is willing to help. If you go to class and write your notes, you will do fine. I am taking her again next semester. Also, tests are graded with partial credit which helps.
Ok so I made an account literally just to say don't take this professor, she is awful, class is ridiculously hard. Please don't take this class. I am begging you. it's terrifyingly bad. I am a 4.0 student too, I am not just someone who doesn't try or tries moderately.
I had Dr. Peart for A&P I and II lectures. The first time around, I really liked her. I struggled with doing well in the class because material is very heavy. However- I started going to office hours and SI sessions for review. Asking questions and attending opportunities like review helped me tremendously. Dr. P is the coolest and my fav now!!!!!!
I love Dr. Peart! She is a great lecturer. Attendance is not required but I strongly recommend for success in the class. Be prepared to study because material is heavy. Exams and quizzes are fair if you actually prepare and take advantage of office hours.
Dr. Peart is an excellent professor. Don’t be intimated with content heavy quizzes or exams. She offers assignments, office hours and SI review sessions which are great opportunities to reach out for help. This material is challenging because of the quantity of information. It is doable to succeed but you have to put in the effort.
I enjoyed having Dr. Peart as my professor for A & P. Lectures are heavy with material information. I recommend preparing notes and staying on track. Material is fascinating if you are interesting in the human body.
Dr. Peart is my new fav! Had her for A& P I and II. Material itself can be challenging, but if you get to know her through office hours and ask questions alone the way she prepares you well. I recommend coming to class and staying on track. Dr. Peart is very sincere and easy to work with if you are diligent and consistent.
She is very tough when it comes to lecture content. This class is not extremely hard if you put in effort and work. Dr. Peart is not hard if you know going into the course that the material is heavy information but you have to have a good attitude and willingness to learn in order to succeed. I recommend Dr. Peart. She is a good grader too.
Dr. Peart teaches an already difficult class while somehow making it more difficult. She expects students to know tons of information for every exam down to a T. I had a solid GPA before this class and it is quite literally ruining the chances of that. She also is not understanding of any type of even university mandated excuse such as sickness.
This is my second semester with Dr. Peart. I will say that she has made some improvements to the way she teaches and the material in a&p 2 is just more interesting in general. It is a more complex and detail oriented class, however. Going to class and review sessions is basically the only way to pass! Tests and quizzes are all short answer!
Don't take Dr. Peart for Histology. I firmly believe I am more qualified to teach than she is. Class average on tests was 59. She acted like that was normal??? She doesn't lecture. The "review" videos that she puts up are her reading someone else's material. She doesn't know what she's doing. Also, there's a group project that's SO time-consuming!
This class will go well for you if you put in the effort. I am not a good student, typically a B/C average. And I have consistently made A's because I study in a way to understand the material well enough to teach someone else about it. And I utilize her office hours often, and attend review sessions as well as go to SI.
Worst teacher ever. She doesn't even teach this class and only gives you 5 minutes for 5 questions every week. The tests were impossible and she was impossible to communicate with.
after the 1st exam, you definitely get the hang of her class. hate how she doesn't post her lecture slides, but expects you to keep up with her pace to take pics of the slides. her exams are not multiple choice and are all free responses, but her grading is generous. if you write, you'll get points. mid
Don't let the histology ratings discourage you from taking her for anatomy. I find it hard to believe anything the histology reviews are saying because she's a great teacher and really easy to work with. She's always accessible and will meet with you whenever you want. You just have to make the effort to communicate. Recommend 10/10
This class has made me want to end it all.
Histology is way too difficult for an elective. She spent all year trying to change the class and didn't care how we did in this online course. The exams were free response and very difficult. She also doesn't give good feedback at all. She is rude and told me I should've known to take A&P before this class when it's not a pre rec. DO NOT TAKE
Dr. Peart gets a bad rep because she's tough and her tests are very difficult, but overall she's a great instructor and you will learn loads in this class. She's got a great sense of humor and she really does care a lot about her students. GO TO CLASS THOUGH. She will start doing pop quizzes if the class doesn't show up, I've had her for A&P 1&2.
This is a great class and I learned a lot. Don't get me wrong it's very hard but it's a 4000-level class so I figured it would be. A lot of other people said she was rude but I've never had that experience.
All she does is read off of a powerpoint every single day, and also doesn't give you access to these PowerPoints in order to study. Every exam is a completely written exam, so it's really hard to actually finish it when you only have roughly 50 minutes. I have never had this bad of an experience with a professor before.
Do not take Professor Peart unless you absolutely have to! She is one of the worst professors I have ever had and she does not care about her students.
Dr. Peart is caring and sweet but her tests are incredibly hard. All quizzes and tests are completely free-response and essay questions. If you don't study weeks in advance, you will not do well. She is a great person but a very tough professor.
There is 1 chapter, and 1 chapter quiz per week. Tests are about every 3 weeks. On top of that, you complete a project over a course of the first eight weeks of class. The tests are online, but have to be taken in the proctoring center. Tests and quizzes are extremely difficult. zero care for students. no extra credit. GPA killer. I had to drop.
Dr. Peart is my favorite teacher. Tests are straight forward, book is SO helpful. Go to class, take notes, study you will get an A. She is not warm, bubbly person but is a great teacher. I contracted for honors, she was so helpful. have now taken all of her classes. Just because a class is hard doesn't mean that the teacher is bad.
If you want to have the live to will, just don't take her.
her exams are set up as 30 questions each with a part A, B, and C and they are all essay/short answer unless you can finish this in 45 minutes I do not recommend it! I'm an amazing student and I love my career path but after her, she has crushed my spirit and made me wanna drop out of college altogether. value your mental health and run like hell
People are hard on Peart because anatomy is hard. I had Shobnom for anatomy 1, and I liked Peart a lot better for anatomy 2. It's just a lot of information, but the textbook is really helpful, she teaches in a way that makes sense, and if you take the time to understand the material, you will do well. It's not an easy A but Peart is a good teacher.
Dr. Peart is much better than her rate my professor seems. Yes her tests are very hard since they are only short answer questions, but I actually feel like I learned something from her class. She also gives bonus pop quizzes throughout the semester which really helped my grade. I did have to live in the library for 3 days before the tests though.
Yup. This is a hard class. Yup. The tests are all short answer/ essay. But, any person who gave her a 1 for BIOL 2510 spent way too much time at Skybar. You will need to put effort forward for anatomy, but Peart really is a good professor and is accessible. Also, she may seem tough, but she just has a marine personality. She's not a mean person.
I LOVE DR. PEART. She gets such a bad rep, but I am not exactly sure why. This class is very hard, yes. There is a lot of material to go over and you have to learn it regardless. Yes, the tests are all open ended, but that actually gives you so much more opportunity to get partial credit. She cares so much about us and helps in any way she can.
She wasn't the best teacher but she encouraged us to go to her office hours and SI. Tests and quizzes are short answer only. We also had online assignments for each unit. If you take her class, make sure you are willing to work. Her tests are hard and the questions are detailed. If you have any doubts, I recommend you take it at another school.
In the beginning I was unsure but by the end you get a routine and learn much more than you think. It is definitely lecture heavy, she doesn't post her slides so you have to get the notes in class. There is one quiz for every unit and she gives lots and lots of bonuses and curves. Her tests are short answer but it causes you to challenge yourself.
Very difficult professor, she goes very fast and doesn't allow you to record lectures and doesn't post slides so class is very rushed and hard to follow. Her tests are all short answer and essay questions and she gives many quizzes.
This was a difficult class, but if you show up to class, take notes, and do the extra questions she provides for us, it is not hard. It requires a lot of studying, but she does give bonus on tests and quizzes.
As far as education, you are required to learn information for her exams due to short/long answer only exams. This is super useful if you are going into some sort of med school but I highly recommend taking it elsewhere if not. You will be studying hours on end. She likes to give random free quizzes (go to class) but don't expect anything else.
Despite what others may say, Peart makes you learn. Her tests are completely short answer so you have to know the material for the test. If you do not study ahead of time, you will fail. She does give various opportunities for bonus points. I enjoyed her class but wish I would have made an A.
Although her lectures are good, her exams are extremely hard. All exam questions are short answer (aka no multiple choice or matching). She makes 3-6 different versions of the exam all of which have different questions which means some versions are easier than others. If you are not good at tests, do not take her class.
Although Dr. Peart's class is on the more difficult side, I have never learned so much before in my life. Walking out of that class at the end of the year, I feel like I was taking information with me that I learned from day 1. Her tests are all written, so you really learn the big picture of anatomic processes, which is so helpful! Take Dr. Peart!
Yes, her exams are difficult. She wants you to learn, and she wants you to ask questions. The textbook goes right along with her class and is very helpful for review. Lecture is important, and taking photos of all the slides won't help as much as you think it will. She isn't a tough grader, she'll give partial credit where it's due.
Dr. Peart is a tough instructor. Attendance is paramount if you want a good grade. Tests and quizzes are 100% short answer/essay and are pretty difficult. If you're not into that, I suggest you take A&P with someone else. The key to passing is studying with friends and explaining concepts to each other. Her office is open for most of the week.
Peart is a very tough teacher, but to say she doesn't care about her students is a lie. She has office hours everyday, holds review sessions before tests, and is willing to meet with students outside of office hours. Go to class, take notes, go to review sessions, and you will be fine. She is one professor who I feel like I actually learned from.
Hands down the worst professor I have ever had in my time here at Auburn. I am a fourth-year COSAM student and NOONE was as bad as her. She is extremely unfair and makes this class unnecessarily difficult. Has 6 different versions of the test. Assigns homework over spring break and says it's a "great time to study." Wish I could say more. 0/5.
By far the most terrible teacher in COSAM. She doesn't care or even try to help. When the class average on every single test and quiz is a F and the "upper" range is a D you have a big problem that is obviously the teacher. She is actually terrible and I am terrified to even email her.
I thought she as an okay professor. If you are planning to go into the medical field, you might hate taking Peart in the moment but she will be extremely helpful in the long run. Since she only does short answer, the information sticks with you. Everyday is lecturing and she does pop quizzes if a lot miss a class
Test questions short answer/ essay question and very ambiguous. You could spend every day studying for her test and still not succeed. When the first quiz grade came out, the class average was a 17.5 out of a 100, and the only thing she said to acknowledge it was that first quizzes are the hardest. The quiz averages since then are just as bad.
I withdrew. She does not care at all. I am going to retake it with a different professor in the fall. have made one B in all my time at Auburn. When I dropped, my average was below a 50. Do not take Dr. Peart.
Your tests are only short answer, and you will have pop quizzes throughout the semester. Very few other grades than a few assignments for each chapter. If the class average is a 17 on a quiz, there is no curve, as we should have been able to recall it. Never failed a college class until this one.
I have taken many hard classes, and I have had unreasonable professors, but not to this extent. It is as if Dr.P it trying to fail us and hurt our chances for med/grad schools after AU. Never take her. This class will destroy my gpa and transcript, and it is not for lack of trying. She makes it impossible to succeed.
I wish I could give a zero. I have made one B and all As in my two years at Auburn and now am borderline going to switch my major. Studied EVERY single day and couldn't even barely pass! DO NOT TAKE! When I say I am a straight A student and am getting mid-20s on the quizzes, 40s on the tests. Stay away at all costs.
DO NOT TAKE PEART! This is A&P 2 so it is a difficult class, BUT Dr. Peart makes it impossible to do well. She does not care that she is destroying GPAs where we are having to change majors!! My study partner was starting AUCON in May, but he is now having to withdraw and take this class this summer and delay. I had a 4.0 and have a 61.
Stay away. I average 20s on quizzes and 40s on tests. I go to every SI session and made an A in Anatomy 1. Currently have a F.
Everyone I know is doing poorly. The people I know that are doing semi ok have taken this class before and are repeating it. They are still struggling. At the beginning of the semester I went to office hours, but she made me feel stupid so I quit. I had her for histology as well and she is bad but not as bad as this class.
I am failing this class. I made an A in Anatomy 1 and have been a PT tech, so this information is not entirely new. However, I feel sure I am going to have to withdraw and go to summer school or take it in the fall. I am an Exercise Sci major so I normally love this kind of class. She is awful and makes you feel stupid if you ask questions.
Absolutely do not take this class! I have never struggled so badly my entire time here at Auburn. I understand that these classes are supposed to be difficult, but when the class average on almost every quiz and test is below 50 that says something. I know a ton of people who have had to drop this class already. Save yourself and your mental health
Do not do it unless you want to have to completely change career paths and destroy your 4.0 gpa. She is the worst and does not seem to notice that truly more than half of the class has dropped out.
I have a D and have studied non stop the entire semester. I am hoping for extra credit points, a dropped test or easier final than normal for those of us that have stuck it out. She isn't a bad person, she is just too tough for this class. I cant drop as I am on a strict college budget so I cannot afford to take it again, but hoping for a C.
She doesn't deserve the hate she gets, truly. I have learned so much from her this semester, and believe everyone rating her so low do not have good study habits. Yes, it is hard. But if you put the time into it to where you can explain the content to others--- u will do well. She makes lecture interesting (she made the classroom a human bod)
The absolute worst teacher at Auburn. She doesn't care at all.
Dr. Peart may be a hard teacher but she forces her students to actually understand the information. The tests and quizzes are essay and short answer. She makes time for her students to review their tests, as well as holds review sessions. If you study a little bit everyday, read the textbook, and take pictures of the ppt slides, you should do fine.
I have never had a professor who has the least consideration for her students. Her tests are almost impossible. The only people who get an A/B are people retaking the class or this is their only hard class. Tests are the bulk of your grade and she does not give any sort of extra credit.
Peart is a fantastic teacher. She cares so much about her students & wants them to succeed. I have never learned so much in a class & have truly enjoyed every moment. She just wants respect from her students. The people complaining are just lazy, take advantage of all her learning opportunities and you will do great! Tests are hard, not impossible!
Dr. Peart is very detailed and lectures very well. There is so much content so it can get overwhelming at times but she has office hours 2 hours a day 5 days a week. Her exams and quizzes are all free-response which means you really need to know what you're talking about to score well. Be ready to work but that will help you learn it.
Dr. Peart was EXTREMELY hard at the beginning of the semester, however, as we are nearing the end of the semester I have realized that through taking her class I have truly learned how to study. GO TO SI!! Get 100's on your unit assignments (mostly on Quizlet), the writing assignment isn't bad. The exams are all written and rough but study a lot!
She has potential to be a good teacher, but she is so sarcastic and intimidating which kind of ruins it all. She also underminds a lot of health care workers which is annoying. Her class is insanely hard and she is not easy to approach for extra help.
Literally awful. All tests and quizzes are completely open-answer and written format. You cannot miss class or you could miss a pop quiz and receive a zero. She is not understanding or caring that students are taking other classes and have other commitments besides Anatomy. An A is possible if you study extremely hard for hours and hours each week.
She truly is worse than the 2.8 rating she has while I am writing this. Don't even bother to read the 5-star ones because it is definitely her trying to get her rating up. I had no choice but to take her unfortunately and it has been miserable. She treats her student like they have no brain and makes you feel so stupid if you have a question.
All written tests but they are so extremely vague. She expects you to just assume what she wants. She can ask you the color of the sky and you say blue but to her, it looks like a shade of green so you are wrong. That's how ridiculous she is. The classic "I'm not sharing my opinion" then proceeds to rant about differing opinions.
Says attendance isn't required yet gives pop quizzes when fewer people start coming to class. She gave us a pop quiz b/c ONE person turned in a fake doctor's note so we all get in trouble. Said she was smarter than the people who wrote our textbook yet uses their pictures and says word for word what they wrote in the book. Truly miserable class.
The people saying that she does not care have not gone to office hours or SI. I am borderline B/C and really need to get a B and she has been very encouraging to me. I'm not saying she is not hard.. this is a VERY hard class, but she wants you to do well. I feel bad for these reviews.
Dr Peart may come off as mean but she actually cares about your success. I enjoyed taking her A&P 1&2 courses. Her tests and quizzes are short answer only, but I feel like I retained the information better that way. If you show up to class, study, and ask for help, you will do well in her class.
Dr. Peart is a great professor. Her tests are extremely difficult, but only because of the way they are structured, it is not her. She is willing to help, it just depends on if you are willing to put in the work.
I have never learned or retained as much information as I have in this class. Dr P has clear expectations of what you need to know, gives fair partial credit, and is the most accessible prof I've ever had (office hours every day). Engaging lectures. This class was hard, but it taught me how to study effectively, and I enjoyed learning the material.
I had Dr. Peart for A&P I and II and enjoyed having her as a professor. These classes were difficult, and require a lot of studying but YOU have to show up to class, take notes, pay attention, and ask questions. As long as you study, go to office hours, go to SI sessions, and find a group of people to study with you will be fine in this class.
All I have to say is you HAVE to put in the extra work outside of class to make a decent grade. I'm talking studying after every lecture because all her exams are short answer/written. Personally would not take her again, but if you can hold yourself accountable, this class is definitely doable. Minus the stress, I did learn a lot of stuff.
DONT LET THE FIRST QUIZ BREAK YOU!! I did pretty bad on a couple quizzes but ended well. Take detailed notes on textbook and find a system to repeatedly actively recall all the information. Draw out and explain confusing concepts and link everything together. All questions and quizzes are free response! You can do it!!
The prior low reviews for Dr. Peart are not at all indicative of her class. Dr. Peart is intimidating at first but, if you go to her office hours and interact, you'll quickly find that to not be the case. The class is hard (as expected). If you follow her concept maps and actively learn (not just memorize), you'll have no issue. 10/10 recommend.
i would not recommend this woman to my very worst enemy. that says a lot.
Dr. Peart is not a bad person but she is an awful professor. She will only respect certain accommodations so be wary if you need anything more than extra time. It often felt like she expected us to only be taking her class and studying for her exams. I really wanted to like her class but truly would never take it again.
Great professor, all her tests are fill in the blank which will require you to actually learn all of the content. A difficult class but shes a great lecturer and I enjoyed her class.
For the love of your sanity and all that is Holy. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!! RUN!!!!!
If you're taking AnP to learn AnP, Take Peart. She is a fantastic lecturer. Her tests are all short answer/ essay question, however once you take the first one you get used to it. They are hard, but they are fair. Lastly, GO TO CLASS, she gives a decent bit of extra credit but most of it is spontaneous and only available to those in class that day.
Dr.Peart has been my all time favorite professor. DO NOT LET WHAT OTHERS SAY SCARE YOU! She may come across as hard but if you talk to her she is helpful and wants you to pass. If you go to her office hours, YOU WILL PASS. Her content is created for you to take it with you for life, not an easy A. I have never learned so much from one course.
I know a lot of people hate on her but remember there are a lot of lazy people in this class. The class is very much doable. The only part that is difficult is keeping up with her notes she goes VERY fast but the book is there to explain so it's not the end of the world. I definitely recommend reading the book and go to her. She isn't a bad person.
To those of you taking Peart for A&P1: don't go into this class with a closed mind hating Dr. Peart. I was terrified to take her. She is actually one of the greatest professors. She teaches to TEACH, not to CRAM you with information. A&P is a hard class in general and her tests are difficult, but go to class, study, and TRY and you'll be fine!!!
You can absolutely make an A if you invest a ton of time in this class. Her short answer questions are sometimes vague which sucks. Textbook is a must have for this class. You should learn from the textbook and get a refresher through the lectures because the lectures itself is not sufficient to get an A no matter how good your notes are
Don't take her class.
Currently in nursing school and I do not think I would be as successful in this program if it weren't for Dr. Peart. Yes, no multiple choice tests are hard, but it truly makes you LEARN the material. Every other class in college has gone to short term memory, but anatomy has not because she wants you to succeed. Highly recommend for prehealth
Although you are able to learn a lot in this class it is extremely difficult if you have any other class you have to dedicate yourself to. Her tests are all short answer or essay and are very difficult. I would avoid this class if you have any other professor you can take.
Dr. P is the best anatomy professor at Auburn! Don't let people's paranoia and mean comments scare you away. Yes, her tests are short answer but they honestly aren't that bad if you study well and use all your resources including her and SI. Her teachings really help drill things into memory for you to keep with you and connect in the future!
Dr. Peart is an awesome professor. You genuinely learn so much material and she gives lots of opportunities for bonus if you come to class. She goes through the lectures quickly but is available outside of class to explain and the book is also very helpful. I would definitely recommend her if you want to really learn your material!
AWFUL. She tells you in class to not read the textbook but if you ask her to slow down she will tell you to refer to the textbook. She acts like you aren't taking any other classes other than hers. She is giving an exam the day we get back from spring break but telling everyone she's doing us a "favor" by giving us extra time to study.
She gets a lot of hate, however, most people are taking A&P as a pre-health course. The information you learn in A&P is important and with Dr. Peart, you will most certainly LEARN the material. Her tests are all short answer and written, however, it is absolutely doable to get a good grade in this class as long as you study and put the effort in.
Me personally, I could not be paid to take this class again. I would not risk my GPA again knowing what I know now. Her tests are not tests you can easily study for. I feel like this class would only be good if you have already passed an anatomy 2 class with flying colors. Save your money, time, and GPA and take a different professor.
Impossible to study everything she teaches for the exam. I feel like I would study everyday and still it would not pay off on the exams. Would go to office hours, but still felt like I did not know how to answer the test questions how she liked. I ended up making a low B in the class, and I dedicated many many hours and days of studying.
Dr. Peart is a very tough professor, no multiple choice tests or access to lecture slides. However, if you are going into a healthcare or fitness field she is definitely a professor you want to take as you will truly learn everything you need to know. Come to class, office hours, and review sessions if you can and make sure to do the work!
While it is true that if you take her course, you can learn a lot, it is not convenient if you have a job or have other classes to study for. I was working as well as having to study for other classes when I took her and I was unable to make good grades due to the ridiculous amount of time she expects you to put in to her one class.
DO NOT BE SCARED. I wish I wouldn't have let the negative opinions of others scare me. It is a hard class but I have learned more from Dr. P than any other professor EVER. If you are pre-med, nursing, etc., take her class. If you study a little everyday, go to office hours, and attend SI sessions, you will do well in the class. Hard work pays off!
Took a different professor for A&P 1 because of all the negative things I heard about Peart. However, I wish I had taken her because I learned so much from her this semester, but you have to put in the work. She definitely prepares you if you're pre health or nursing.
I feel like I learned a lot in this class but the way it was graded is ridiculous and does not reflect your knowledge. All fill-in-the-blank questions no bonus tests questions very vague and most material on test not gone over in class Read the textbook and learn everything from there. You will have to self-teach everything and hope you get lucky
I took Peart for A&P I and II. Yes, she is super tough and her classes are the hardest I've taken at AU. However- because her tests are so hard and have no multiple choice, I was forced to learn the material well. Since learning the material is what I'm there to do, she did her job well. But she's pretty scary and not very approachable.
This is the worst class I've ever taken. The material you have is from your notes from class. Goes through ppt super fast and very non approachable. Quizzes and exams are all short answer/ discussion questions. Get ready to read/study a lot and hope that it's gonna be close to what's going to be on the quiz/exam. Do not recommend
Although class can be challenging, Dr. P really helps you to understand and not just memorize. I personally suggest making this class your priority class since there is a lot of material. Showing up matters and tests are hand-written. I was not an A student in this class, but she really did help me to prepare for other classes.
She stated that she teaches her course as if all of her students have taken both A&P I and II, yet the only prerequisite for her course is A&P I. How is that fair? Don't expect a curve on the exams or fair grading. Expect 90% of the links within her online teaching materials to be broken. Don't take this class if you aren't going into medicine.
Dr. P has been my least favorite teacher I've had at Auburn. Boring lecturer with little effort put into lectures. Your notes from class are all you've have to study. Tests are far too hard for the lectures being given. She just taught her material from other classes and tested us on random things.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! her tests and quizzes are all short answer/essay with hardly any time to do it. she does not give access to lecture recordings or powerpoints at all. she is rude and tries to make things impossible for her students. I do not recommend
Lectures every day, 5 question quiz nearly every week. Hands you new material 2 days before the exam and expects you to know it. Lectures are kind of hard to follow along, no pictures allowed and does not post the slides. Not a terrible class, just make sure you get the main point of her lectures and then study the canvas page.
All she does is give slides with information that is NOT on our exams nor quizzes. We have to listen to her verbal notes which is very hard if you do if you lack a recording device. She doesn't give back ANY quizzes unless you go to the office hours which always have a line out the door, so it is a miracle if you can actually get feedback.
Nightmare. Exams are all open ended questions, NO multiple choice, true false, etc. If you are not a good test taker, DO NOT TAKE HER. Cadence when lecturing is droning. All she does is go through the slides, and she doesn't post them or allow pictures. Good luck taking notes on them AND what she says. And get ready to teach yourself the material.
She is a terrible professor. Course is extremely difficult to follow. Tests and quizzes are short answer, essay questions, and labeling but there is no clear way to study or understand the material she gives; which is not much of anything. I study for this class more than 10 hours a week and still do not comprehend anything she says.
Get ready to struggle. She does not post quiz dates online so you HAVE to go to class to know when the quizzes will be. If you miss even one class you will be so behind because she does not post the slides online and she goes thru them extremely fast in class. Tests and quizzes are all essay questions and short answers. 0 multiple choice. Pls dont
She is a difficult professor, I am taking the dumbed-down version...cannot imagine what her stem-focused classes are like. The class and the dynamic are not bad as long as you are willing to work and study. She does not share her slides and dont get caught photographing them during a lecture. Automatic 0 if a phone is seen during test/quiz.
DO NOT TAKE HER UNLESS YOU ARE A PRE-MED MAJOR. This is an entry level biology class and it is ridiculously hard. So much content and goes very in-depth. Tests are the only grades that matter and it is very challenging to get an A. You would be so much better off taking a professor who understands that biology is not your strong suit.
one of the worst professors i've ever had. she doesn't post her slides/lectures, are not allowed to record the class, moves extremely quickly. i would highly recommend taking someone else. her tests consist of short answer, fill in the blanks and essay questions. you have to go to class to know when quizzes/tests are/doesn't help in office hours.
She wasn't as awful as her ratings. Her tests are indeed stressful, 50 minutes to complete 24 open-ended questions, but she curves them. Encourages you to visit her office hours, and will explain the concept until you truly understand. Cannot pass her test with pure memorization, you must understand it. BUT will not take her again. Once is enough.
Worst teacher i've had at Auburn by far.
Dr. Peart's class is challenging but rewarding. The short answer exams require dedicated studying, but the content really sticks. unstuckstudy was a big help for me - definitely worth checking out.
Genuinely the worst. She should not be allowed to teach an entry level course. Have to go to class to know when quizzes are. No textbook. All material is on Canvas, half of it we don't go over/need to know. Incredibly hard to study for. Super fast through lectures. Doesn't post slides. Can't record in class. Expects us to know way higher level bio.
Dr. Peart is a brilliant woman who clearly knows what she is talking about. I am 99% sure most students who took this class weren't major students, so it was a horrible class for a supposed "entry-level" biology class. Dr. Peart provides the necessary information but does not provide extra help (like posting slides). She did provide extra credit.
Many students did not like her class, however I really enjoyed it. It was clear from day 1 what she expected from us and how to achieve that. All you have to do is go to class and take notes-seriously not that complicated or difficult. She also realized our specific class did better with active learning, so she implemented it more! Not bad at all!
All of the comments regarding her posting her slides, she does not post them because they are for her A&P classes. In class she discusses what we have to know on them so it would just be extra info we don't need if they were posted. It is also a college class so no need to be distraught when class is mandatory. GET A GRIP PEOPLE.
I feel like she does care for students. However for an entry level course, she made it way too complicated. Not having access to the slides shown in class made it very difficult to study. You can write stuff down from the slides, but she changes the slides quickly and skips around. I have never struggled this bad in any class like I am this one.
She's the hardest professor I've had in Auburn. But, I still enjoyed the class. There are no MCQ or true and false questions in her exams, doesn't post slides on Canvas, and she does not allow her lecture to be recorded. If you put in the work you can do well. Don't take her if you're taking an entry level class though. Crashcourse helps a lot!
Dr. P is a very smart woman & she knows what she's talking about. But, for an entry-level biology class, it was much more difficult than it had to be. I took AP Bio/anatomy & physiology in high school, and I had to work very hard for a B, but it's doable. If you're looking for an easy A for a core science credit, this is not the professor to take.
short answer quizzes. tests were a mixture of short answer, labeling, and essays, all in 50 minutes. She offers reviews outside of class, but the content she harps on WILL NOT be on the test. she will show a picture for 2 seconds in class, skip it, then it will appear as a 20 pt labeling on the next test. VERY hard to do well bc of her grading. run
Worst teacher I've ever had. Lectures do not cover anything important and she does not prepare you well for tests. Nobody shows up to her classes and for good reason.
Nothing she covers in lectures are on her exams. No point in even attending her classes. Avoid at all costs!!!
Do not take this professor
Has zero structure, when presenting lectures. Contents difficult to follow along with. When preparing for tests, there is very little provided to help study. Material on test doesn't match content in lectures.
This professor gave us a lecture on how to study after the test. This is assuming we did not make an adequate grade. Contrary to this she has not graded our exam so essentially she is assuming we made a failing grade.
Must take notes on exactly the words that she says. Test are very accurate to her notes. She doesn't post the slides because they are A&P and too complicated, she references them to help. You have to go to class to understand the material. Quizlets are made and help is given with TA's. MUST TAKE NOTES, I wrote mine and it helped so much!
Dr. P is very lecture heavy and not very fair. She knows what she is talking about but she goes SO fast and her tests/quizzes are super difficult (only short/long answer questions too). Even if the class average for an exam is an F, she will only scale according to the highest grade; meaning if the highest grade is a 100, the rest are screwed.
She is a challenging professor, but she does stress showing up to class is a priority if you want to do well. If you can sit in on a lecture, take good notes, and also pick up on the things she emphasizes then this class will not be as difficult as some make it out to be. If you are looking for a class that's low effort, I would avoid this class.
I was worried about taking this class when I saw her reviews on rate my professor however her class really is not that bad. It is a hard class and you do need to study a lot because the tests aren't multiple choice but she is a nice person she's funny and is always willing to help if you need it. She's honestly very kind
The reason for my grade is my fault, so ignore that. Dr. Peart is a good teacher who makes you grasp content because tests aren't multiple-choice. She seems intimidating, but she is nice and also cares about your grade, and helps you understand the content. Do not listen to the negative reviews she is difficult, but I've learned SO MUCH from her.
If you are planning on going into healthcare, she will prepare you for post- grad school due to the depth of material as well as expectations she sets. She's tough and unforgiving, but has handed out a few free bee quizzes that have been great grade boosters to keep her students afloat.
I love love love this professor. I know she has a reputation of being terrible, but I feel that is mostly from the students that have taken her for A&P. I took her class for cardiovascular physiology and she was incredible. It is clear that she cares about the content and wanted her students to do well. She is eager to help you in anyway possible.
Even though people don't like Dr.Peart I personally loved her, she has a great sense of humor and she does try and make things fun! The only downside to her class is how hard it is, but she is accessible and helpful in office hours, just make sure to study beforehand, this class isn't easy but I have definitely learned a lot more!
She is just a horrible professor. I understand how people could like her class on a specific topic that is her expertise, but NEVER take her for a generic biology course. The class itself wasn't hard but she does give a crap about you or your learning. She turned this course online and in the lectures she just read off the slides.
She knows the content well, but is not the best at making it easy for easier intro-level classes. She doesn't make class mandatory, but tests are heavy on the content talked about in class. She also does a lot of random extra credit in class. Tests are hard and not relative to the entry-level course load, it should be.
girl. the anger that has accumulated with me over the semester because of this class is immense. things did not get easier as it went on, even with taking her for a&p 1 and 2. i truly love this subject, and i feel like i can explain and apply things in real life situations (lab), but i wish i learned it differently. the stress was not worth it.
Dr. Peart was the hardest professor I've had at Auburn. Her class is extremely challenging, and it's very difficult to earn a high grade. However, you do learn a lot. If you're focused on maintaining a high GPA, I wouldn't recommend her. But if you're looking to build a strong foundation and can handle a heavy workload, she might be a good fit.
Dr.Peart's class was the hardest class I have taken at Auburn, however, it is also the class where I have retained and learned the most amount of information. You have to put in work for this class but in the end it will benefit you. She truly wants her students to succeed and learn information that will stick with them for their future careers.
If you're not majoring in a science-related, do not take her class. The exams cover way too much material, and she never uploads the ppt slides. The only things posted on Canvas aren't much help for studying. Also, I didn't miss a single class, but there were still questions on the exam about things she never talked about in lectures.
Put random stuff we never learned on tests, test all where incredibly inconsistent with the topics we actually learned.
She has a terrible score on here so I was terrified to take her class. Biol1030 was probably my favorite and easiest course this semester. She teaches exactly what you need to know on exams, watch the lecture videos and you are good to go.She is straight to the point and only does in person class once a week.
The tests are open-ended, labeling, multiple choice, and fill-in-the-blank FOR BIOLOGY. Nothing she talks about in lecture is on the exams you have to memorize the smallest little things to do well on the tests. The lectures are so boring, take another bio class to get the credit, it's not worth it.
All the tests fall on the day after a break, so good luck studying when traveling or at home!
Whatever you do, do not take Dr. Peart for 1030. She is a flipped classroom so she posts lectures online; however, they are NOT beneficial for the tests. She yaps the whole time and I eventually stopped watching them. The exams reflect more of the homework, but it is hard to learn based off of just that. i refuse to take another one of her classes.
Dr. Peart is a good person and definitely cares about your future. But the class itself is unnecessarily difficult due to her structuring. Lectures aren't posted online and she doesn't let you take pictures of the slides. Very inconvenient. Also tests are all short answer and free response. Yes it's tough.. Don't take if you want an easy A or B.
I took her for BIOL 1030, not knowing it was a flipped classroom. She posts lectures weekly, but if you want to do well on the tests you need to read the textbook. The tests were very specific and worth a lot of your grade. If you don't know all the details, you will not do well.
I was a straight A-B student and I had a D the entire semester despite my efforts in studying, SI, and office hours. She is no joke, grades hard and her test can really make you question if you are intelligent at all. I finished with a C bc of the final so it's not impossible but if you just have to get through A&P2 protect your peace and dont take
Peart is a very difficult professor; however, out of all the professors I've ever taken, the information I've learned has stuck with me. At times, I didn't know if I loved her or hated her. However, I've enjoyed this class so much that I am planning on being an SI or LA. She will set you up for success in future classes. Thank you, Peart!!
I had Dr. Peart for A&P 1 and 2. Her tests are 100% free response which can seem intimidating, but allow you to show what you've studied. She is extremely helpful in office hours and in class. If you actually put in effort, you will succeed. This class will prepare you for grad school and help you be a better student. Challenging but worth it 10/10
Dr. P is truly a great teacher but if you are not above average and if you have a hard time retaining information, this is NOT the class for you. She is very helpful in office hours and you can email her and she will always respond but her exams are all free response and so are the quizzes. So much information and no slides or study guide.
Dr. P is controversial, but I won't deny that she is a good teacher. She is extremely intimidating, but the way her tests are set up (free response, short answer, labeling, one-word answers), the information has stuck, & i do feel I have learned how to study. Helpful during office hours, doesn't post lectures, can't take pictures of slides in class
She is the worst professor I have ever had. I do not think she prepared me in any way for the biology classes I have taken since then. She responds to emails in a timely manner, but she is unpleasant to speak to.
this was definitely a tough class. shes a good teacher and explains well it's just a very in depth class. she teaches more like an anatomy instead of bio. go to office hours shes very helpful and nice (surprising because shes terrifying in lectures) tests are multiple choice and fill in the blank and labeling. class is doable but will take effort
easy class. she gives out extra credit when no one shows up for class. she doesn't post lectures but if you go to class and take notes on the slides AND what she says you'll be perfectly fine. she doesn't test you on anything she doesn't say in class and its easy to tell what you need to know. people just complain cause they dont go and dont study!
I respect Dr. Peart so much as a person, but this class will make you question your career path and intelligence. The exams are very difficult, and they are all written and we had written quizzes almost every week. On the positive side, I remember a lot of the content from this class with a lot of detail because of how much I studied.
Dr. P is tough, but very fair. Go to lecture and take notes- she will tell you what you're being tested on almost verbatim. Tests are difficult, but very doable with studying + good note taking. She also gave extra credit several times when attendance dropped off. Frequent quizzes, but they forced me to constantly review and learn the content.
Dr. P's lectures do not always align with the exams. She quickly goes back and forth between topics, and then includes content on the exam that is not emphasized. No matter how much you study, the test is unpredictable. While class is not mandatory, she will likely give extra credit to those who show up.
