What Students Say
“I'll give her an A at mastering her power point slides and talking to her students as if they are 5 years old but she does not care if her students do well and here is why, talks really fast, review sheets don't help, test are HARD HARD HARD, her study recommendations do not help, can't review quizzes once you take them, I'm overall disappointed”

Be aware she sucks........ Her test are sooooooooooo hard and nothing form the study guide is on her test.......
She's a really tough teacher, and I can't say I'd recommend her unless you really want an in-depth study of Biology... She's very nice, and will answer questions, but her tests are honestly really hard.
Shes a really nice teacher...kind of reminds me of an elementary teacher. If you study for her tests u should do alright. labs are easy
Seriously, this pof. is hard! She really knows her stuff but teaches it as if she is teaching a grad. level class. Not a general bio. class. I've always been an excellent student and I really struggled with this class. Labs are easy, but tests are HARD!!!! I read the chapters, completed the study guides, still only pulled D/C's on tests :(
She is very nice and gives great and interesting lectures. She will give you all the extra help you need. Labs are easy but test are very hard. You do learn alot!
I took her Fundamentals of Biology class in the summer of 2006. It was incredibly easy- don't even bother taking notes in class. I simply studied for tests the day of, while riding to the school. Pulled off an A without any effort whatsoever. Again, easy, easy, easy. She's very nice, too.
I wish that I could take her for Microbiology, but you can bet that when it is time to take anatomy that I will be back in line to register for her class. She is Awesome!!!
Dr. Spring is fantastic. I have her for Bio II and A&P I this summer. She is knowledgeable, passionate, and organized. Honestly one of the best professors I've had. I have A's in both her classes btw.
Pretty easy class. Consists of lecture straight off of powerpoints which she makes available online. Gives study guide for every test, and everything on the study guide can be found in the powerpoints and everything on the test is on the study guide. Labs are easy, just follow the directions.
Soring is an awful teacher. She does give the power points online for her students to access but her tests consist of way more indepth questions than what she reviews over in class in her lectures. She is not much of help when you need it, I strongly do not recomend taking her class!!!!!!!!!
Dr. Spring is the type of teacher that helps in any way possible. You just have to be willing to give the effort and do your part. The exam reviewS aren't exactly what is on the test. Her exams are more conceptional than anything. Before you take this class prepare yourself mentally for the time you need to study.
Dr. Spring is an excellent teacher if you are prepared to do the work. She makes time to see students even if it is outside her office hours. Even though she says that there is no make-up work, if you get on her good side then she is pretty willing to help you out.
Doctor Spring is a great teacher. Her class is challenging at times because the quizzes and exams are online and very hard sometimes. All in all, it was a very good class and I learned a lot. I took it Hybrid.
What an amazing teacher Dr Spring is. She definitely loves her job and does everything for the students to succeed. I had a Biology class with her and am going to take Anatomy too. This instructor is always willing to help, takes her time to discuss and explain whatever is not clear. Great attitude.
Awesome teacher!I've never been good at bio but after taking her class i love it. She makes a point of helping students remember difficult, topics very helpful. the study guides, outlines, & powerpoints are all available throughout the entire course. Tests are hard, studying is NECESSARY she gives a bonus question and offers extracredit
Amazing teacher :> I hate science, but she made it interesting and easier to understand. She is very animated, and she really knows her subject. She is also very helpful and will go out of her way to make sure students get the help they need. Great teacher! I highly suggest taking her class
Made Biology much more interesting than I assumed it'd be.
I love Dr. Spring! She is so enthusiastic and teaches us like we are kindergartners. Take her for every single class she offers!! I had her for 3 different classes and got A's. Always do the extra credit and study hard for the tests. It's not easy, but I promise you will LOVE her class!!
Awesome teacher! Take her for any class that you can. Loves her job and it shows.
I took her for A&P1 in a 6 week summer course. I LOVED HER. She gave us study guides for each test so we didn't have to memorize a butt load of crap we didn't need. She keeps you interested in class and gives extra credit oppritunities. You have to study, but she clearly gives you the info you need to do good on tests.
I loved her. Took her for A&P 1 in a 6 week course. Its a lot of memorization, but she gives you study guides of exactly what to study. Shes very enthusiastic. Its not an easy A -You gotta work, but an A is doable if you stay on it the whole semester. the A&Ps are just not easy classed. Great person, loves her job and will help you out. take her
She is available before/after class for extra help. Teaches from PowerPoint which is a little helpful. Basically you will be studying textbook and self-learning. If using "What is Life," save money by purchasing bioportal book online. Review sheets are a lot of information and quizzes can be difficult. Good teacher if you understand biology
She is a really great teacher. She explains things in a very easy manner, but you do have to study a lot. She makes Biology interesting and fun, and she's always there to answer questions.
Wonderful Professor! She clearly loves Biology and draws you in to loving it too. She is very relaxed, animated, and has a very good teaching style. You will have to put the time into studying and learning the material. Dr. Spring does challenge you to learn the material, but gives you mega-opportunities to improve your grade. Great Teacher!
If Biology is not your thing, find another professor who'll give extra credit. Dr. Spring knows her stuff but teaches from the slides. She's available after class but expects you to "get it" quickly. She is friendly & outgoing & tries hard. Use review sheets, online flashcards and quizzes to help you study. Curves class grade at her discretion.
Took A&P 1un 6wks for summer. It's A LOT of material in a very short period of time. An A is doable if you study and really understand the material. She's willing to help and available. Moves quickly and gives you material to study. You have to put in the effort and time to do well. Taking A&P 2 with her too.
All I have to say is run. Not helpful. If you ask a question she goes all around the question. Gave study guides that did NOT have anything to do with test. Quiz was to co-side with exam, NOT! Several dropped, wish I had dropped. Then asked if I was going to sign up for her ap2 class. Not!!!
Amazing teacher! Took A&P 1 and 2 with her in the 6 week courses. Teaching style good for visual/kinesthetic learners. Always available to answer questions and help. Picklists/Notes told you exactly what you needed to study. The course was still a lot of work and I had to spend a lot of time studying but I am glad Dr.Spring was my professor.
She's super sweet!
Dr. Spring is an Amazing teacher. She teaches through power points which are good for visual learners. Labs are fun. Very helpful when asking for help and makes the class fun. Take her. You'll thank me later.
She is very sweet. She absolutely loves teaching and she loves what she teaches. She cares about her students a lot. She teaches off of a powerpoint. I have a B at the moment, and I am giving about 75% effort. Her tests are pretty difficult, but she is worth taking.
TAKE THIS CLASS. you cant ask for a better teacher. she loves what she does and she is super helpful. study guides to all the tests, easy and strait forward. she comes in to help if you ask and she is just overall a very sweet women
Not only is she likeable and friendly, but she truly takes an interest in her students. She knew everyone's name by the end of the first class and is always very personable. She makes herself available for her students if they need more help out of class. She is fast-paced, but will offer clarification whenever needed.
Great teacher, very passionate. Tests aren't super easy but if you paid attention to the slides you will do well.
Dr Spring I won't forget you. she is super sweet and very helpful for everything. Mrs. McDonald was horrible and I got D last semester and I got Dr Spring this semester wish I had her before Mrs. McDonald. Take her class! You can get an"A" with your little effort.
I love Dr. Spring! She LOVES biology and she LOVES teaching. Lots of chances for extra credit, will accept late work with a point deduction, allows you to make up tests and labs that were missed. Dr. Spring really wants her students to succeed! She's very animated and a tad goofy, which makes it easier to pay attention during lecture
She's super nice and helps you with the labs to where you automatically get a 100 if you attempt to do them. You get out of class early basically everyday. Cons would be that the power points are super long and the exams are hard
Great teacher. Quirky and cute and extremely smart. She's on your side and wants students to do great. Makes the 2 hour and 15 minute class go by smoothly. I HATE Biology, and I passed with an 85%. You will pass if you study, that simple. She provides reviews to help study for the exams, do them all, it will really help you on the exams.
I LOVED Dr. Spring! She is super sweet and absolutely loves what she teaches. You have to study if you want a good grade, and she offers a max of 2% extra credit added to your grade. Her tests weren't hard if you studied properly for them. No homework other than studying. Great class! She made me enjoy bio even though I'm not a fan of it normally
I'll give her an A at mastering her power point slides and talking to her students as if they are 5 years old but she does not care if her students do well and here is why, talks really fast, review sheets don't help, test are HARD HARD HARD, her study recommendations do not help, can't review quizzes once you take them, I'm overall disappointed
She is a sweetheart, and I had her as a sub before so that was why I took her. Our class was a hybrid class so mostly everything was powerpoints that droned on and on forever. Extremely boring class. She is passionate about what she does and knows, and is super nice and always oddly perky. Tests are super hard, but there are study guides for them.
I thought she was a great teacher, she does a great job at explaining things and is there for you whenever, you just have to ask. The tests are hard you really have to study. I took her in Bio 1 , don't get too discouraged about the exams, the quizzes and labs bump your grade up.
Dr. Spring is an excellent professor who truly wants her students to succeed. She is brilliant and knows everything there is to know about biology. If you would like to learn biology from a true expert, take her.
I wish you the best of luck in the future. Dr. Spring there will be a lot chapters to do.
she is really amazing and funny. She keeps the lectures fun so you do not get bored.
I took the hybrid version of General Bio 1 with Dr. Spring. The online quizzes were easy and obviously open book; she gives you a couple tries and takes the best grade from that. On top of that, she only takes the 10 best quizzes out of like 20 and drops the rest. Very sweet, smart, and truly cares that her students understand Bio and pass.
She's a very good teacher. Funny, caring, shows great passion for being a teacher and passionate about biology. The material is a lot. A lot of memorization. Highly recommend doing study guides online. She isn't a hard grader but the material can be hard. She's Easy going and very helpful. She knows a lotttt about everything. Had a such fun time.
Excellent Professor. Took the combined AP 1&2 course over the 16 weeks. Gives you a list of everything she wants you to know at the beginning of each unit (2-3 chapters per unit); know whats on the list and you won't fail, no surprises. 5 Anatomy/5 Physiology tests per semester, 20 quizzes that WILL prep you for the exams, and you keep the best 10.
Dr. Spring is probably one of the best professors on campus! She is very enthusiastic in her lectures and incredibly knowledgeable in all her subjects. Anatomy and Physiology is no easy "A" but it is fun and Dr. Spring offers a few extra credit assignments.
Powerpoints and labs every day. She races through them and the study guides are dozens of pages long. I studied for days and the highest I got was a B and one C on the tests. I have no idea how people got A's. The labs are super hard and I was so confused.
Dr. Spring is hands down the best professor that I have ever had the pleasuring of taking. I've had her for Bio, A&P 1, and A&P 2 and got A's in all 3. She really cares about her students and their success. She explains her power points well, gives study guides, and tells you exactly what to expect on the exams. Definitely take her, especially A&P
Dr. Spring is a wonderful professor. She handed out study guides, stated what would be On exams and quizzes, was more than fair on grading, and was great at her lectures. She understands different types of learning styles and possesses amazing skills and knowledge. Im sad I dont have any more classes I can take that she instructs.
I took A&P 1 and 2 as hybrids back to back and I definitely recommend that path! It is fast pace but if you keep up it is do-able! About 20 quizzes only best 10 count taken at beginning of class. Her exams are one packet anatomy and the other physiology so almost like 2 exams in 1. Extra credit options. Not easy but if you work can get an A.
Took Dr. Spring for A&P 1 and 2 back to back (which I highly recommend) it is intense but Dr. Spring makes it do-able. Extra credit options up to 2% (20 pts). Exams are like 2 in 1, with anatomy packet and physiology packet. About 20 quizzes only best 10 count. Recommend LAB MANUAL not the textbook she will tell you what pictures on exam! Amazing!
Dr. Ashley Spring is amazing. I've taken her for Oceanography, along with Anatomy/Physiology 1 & 2. The A & P classes are mini-mesters, so a lot of material but she gives specific details and diagrams to study that will be on each exam. Exams go by chapters so no final which is amazing. she gives 20 quizzes but only keeps highest 10. Take Her!!!
Dr. Spring is the best! Took A&P 1 and 2 minimesters and got A's in both! She gives you a list of everything that's going to be on the exams and there are lots of opportunities for extra credit. If you want to get an A you must be willing to work for it. She is so nice and cares about her students. I wish I could take her for more classes.
Stay away!!! The most ridiculous class I ever took. She does you no favors. No test reviews, way too much material to cover. Her lectures are pointless. I leave the class every day feeling like I learned nothing. Her power points slide are over 130 pgs/chapter and tests are 2-3 chaps. I study for over 12 hrs each test and dont know half of answers
If you have only this class and part time job, this is right class for you, if not do not waste your time, she is super nice lady and funny but her lectures are super heavy and the powerpoint are almost 120 slides each, test and quizzes are hard you need plenty of time to study, again if you have a lot of free time take this class.
Dr. Spring is amazing! Had her for a 6 week class. Explains everything with great, easy examples. Lots of extra credit opportunities. No final. Don't buy the textbook you only need the lab book. Super passionate about biology and her students. Will take her for more science classes! Highly recommend! Do the work for an easy A. No homework.
Dr. Spring Knows her stuff! She is a professor with passion. I took her for A&P 1&2 in the same semester. If you miss class, it's not a big deal because she puts everything online and I mean EVERYTHING. There are 20 total quizzes but you can bomb 10 of them they dont count. There are 10 exams. 2 each unit. And sometimes they are curved. Hilairious!
Dr. Spring was a great choice for A&P 1. The textbook is online, but there is a workbook for this course in the book store that's helpful. Textbook is provided online and lecture slides are posted as well. Some chapters are more difficult than others, but there are quizzes that help you prepare and they don't affect your grades much.
All the quizzes and tests were opened at the beginning of the semester and the due dates were reasonable. I found the quizzes and tests easy enough, sometimes I didn't know what an arrow was pointing to or what a question asked. Took for both AP 1 & 2. Good choice for anatomy and physiology. Try to aim for high scores on tests none are dropped.
lots of busy work yet you get an automatic 100 for doing it. all the work is on quizlet and her tests are just like the homework. No final exam or midterm just 4, 50 question tests throughout the semester. She is super nice and is very helpful.
Overall she's just an amazing person, as long as you communicate with her you will pass the class. She explains everything well and makes the class enjoyable.
Professor Spring is fantastic! I literally love her! Shes no caring very nice she really cares about her job and is excited to be there! Everything is online. No homework really just weekly quizzes and tests at the end of the chapter. Attendance didnt count. You can schedule zoom calls if you cant make it.
Professor Spring is a 10/10! I definitely recommend her. I had both online and in-person and it was so easy. We did chapter quizzes online that were timed and labs in person. If you do your work it's an automatic 100, even if the answers are wrong. She makes class really enjoyable and there's no way to fail unless you do no work.
Dr. Spring is so passionate about teaching!! She is always willing to help and her lectures are fantastic. Whatever she goes over is what will be on the test and she always lets us know what type of pictures will be on the anatomy section of the test. If you want a not too challenging class, as long as you pay attention, and to learn take her!!
This class is a lot of work, but you can find a lot of study aids online. It's a forgettable class, but necessary for your AA. She is an encouraging professor and regularly emails throughout the course.
Loved Professor Spring. She is really passionate about you understanding and learning the material. She loves answering any questions you have, which is comforting. She, also, emails back super quick!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR WITH ANY COURSE SHE OFFERS. SAVE YOURSELF SOME TIME
If you can take this course and only focus on this course, then that's the only way you'll pass
Professor Spring is a nice professor but her class overall is very terrible. Her lectures go on for the entire class periods and you have to pay attention and study like crazy all semester just to pass each exam (there's four exams for both anatomy and physiology so 8 pretty much total). Take a different A&P professor.
I don't recommend at all
Im very sorry if you end up in her class.
So unhelpful! She doesn't even care about her students and wants us all to fail.
If you want to take several 200 question quizzes throughout your semester, then by all means go for this class. But if you wan't to actually have a life outside of school, then please do not take this god forsaken class. She thinks her students are robots that take no other classes outside of hers! Overall -5/10.
I'm not sure why there's 52 rating on her being an amazing professor, they must all be lying to you. Save yourself some time by not taking her seriously.
I totally recommend Dr. Spring she is a great instructor. I wish we had more instructors like her.
Terrible. Terrible. Terrible
I would recommend taking Dr. Spring's class to anyone who struggles with learning Anatomy and practical tests. She really broke down the information and was helpful in explaining the information clearly so it was easy to understand. She was an amazing professor and I would take her again if I could.
I'm sure the class would be better if it wasn't a hybrid class. Dr. Spring is quirky and upbeat, she is willing to help you in a lab for any questions you have. I didn't find a meeting outside of class very helpful, not much gained. It is a test-heavy course, I flunked the first two exams, and those set me back. She is understanding. Study hard.
Dr Spring is an amazing professor. You can tell she really cares about her students learning and gives interesting and engaging lectures. She literally gives you everything you need to succeed- study guides, term lists, diagrams. There is no reason to not get an A in this class. Don't miss lecture, pay attention, put in the work, & you'll be fine!
Great professor. It was an eight-week course, so there was a bit of work involved, but she allows you to work ahead. The course sem is 4 multiple-choice tests (unproctored) than discussions, labs, and bio quizzes. She had a ton of useful information available for each chapter and provided extra credit opportunities after each test. Would recommend
