Oh man, what can I say about Professor Ashley. Her class was great. I leaned a lot and it was so interesting/entertaining. There is quite a bit of writing, but she reads it all and gives good feedback which is super useful. Take a class from her.

Prof. Szanter is pretty cool. She does expect a lot of work in the class but your writing really improves a lot. The textbook is used often and she is really helpful. She is easy to talk to and genuinely wants the best for her students. She is a great teacher and I would definitely recommend her for ENGL 1010. Also, she talks a lot about movies.

There is a lot of work, but she grades fair and is consistent with her expectations. If you attend class and do the work you will pass the class!! My writing has improved drastically because Ashley does her job very well!!

She's a great teacher, very funny and very chill when it comes to assignments. She's not a harsh grader unless it comes to the Literature Reviews. Make sure to show up to class though for attendance is important if you want to keep your grade up.

She is super chill and genuinely cares about her students. She keeps class light with her humor and yet somehow you still walk out of class learning to be a better writer.

Professor Szanter was awesome! I enjoyed her class and I always learned alot. She did a great job keeping the class alive with humor. She acts like an actual person and not just a professor. Expect to write a lot, but it will be beneficial to write a lot now to be prepared for later.

Excellent professor! provides great positive feedback and helpful in pointing out your mistakes. Book required! There is a lot of writing(mostly 1-2 pages each class time), but it is there to help you!

Her 2010 is on monsters which is super cool. I didn't know that much going but I've learned a ton. My favorite so far has been zombies (we did vampireswill do werewolves and native american monsters). I would highly recommend her class. It's a lot of writing but the topic is awesome.

If you like zombiesvampireswarewolves this is for you. But if not, I found it a waste of my money for a college class. There is a lot of swearing and a lot of conversations I found very inappropriate with inappropriate reactions from the professor contributing to the discussion.

Great class! So much fun and would recommend it, especially if you love learning about monsters :). It's not a difficult class to pass. Just do the reading assignments, take what helpful critiques she gives you and use what you learn to write your essays. The class is really fun and participate because that's when it gets even more hilarious!

Professor Szanter is incredible. I don't particularly like English classes, but I really enjoyed hers. There was a short article review due practically every time class is held, but they are fairly easy if you just do them. She gives great feedback and allows plenty of time to work on longer essays.

I took this class over summer and loved it. The discussions were very interesting and the idea of monsters (though I wasn't sure at first) ended up being really cool. I would definitely recommend this class to someone who likes monsters or who likes learning about something different than the normal, boring stuff. Also she's hilarious.

I really enjoyed this class. There was a lot of writing, but she gives great feedback. She gives clear instructions on what she expects on assignments and essays. The subject matter, Monsters, was interesting and when you have a professor who enjoys what they are teaching, it makes it fun too.

Enjoyed taking this class during my first year. The lectures were always fun and interesting, which made this as my morning class bearable. There was generally homework nightly, but it wasn't ever daunting. Would recommend.

Szanter is great. She is funny and interesting and is always willing to give feedback. Fun subject matter and not a bad work load. 2 page responses are due almost every class, but they are easy and fun to write. 3 or 4 major essays. Easy points for attending class. This was the best way to get credit and enjoy time in class. Definitely recommend.

One of the best professors I have met! she is funny and extremely helpful and kind! She also teaches you how to write real college papers and you learn alot from her class! Easy if you do the essays ( 3 8-12 page papers for this) and 2 pagers almost every other day. I had her Monsters English class and it was so much fun!

Professor Szanter is great! She is really funny and becomes both a friend and mentor. The class itself is generally quite interesting and captivating due to it's topic: monsters. Rather than a lecture, it is a very class-involved discussion, and everyone in the class gets pretty close by the end of the semester because of it. Great class!

Professor Szanter is AMAZING. There are about three responses due a week, but they are not bad. Responses are on articles she gives you, and they start to taper off towards the end of the semester. Want her to like you? Tell her you love Florida. She will have random little rants throughout the class--they are the best part of class, so let her go.

Professor Szanter is the BEST. Her class is on monsters and she really knows her stuff. It was my favorite class. She's hysterical. I looked forward to her rants about terrible people. Her class does require you to earn your grade. She gives great feedback on every assignment. She's there to help of you need it and honestly cares for her students.

Professor Szanter is an amazing teacher! The class is entirely on the subject of monsters, which is very enjoyable for me. We go over vampires, werewolves, zombies, witches, native american monsters, and many more. Her discussions are great and encourages participation from the class. I would love to take her class again if I could!

This was the best English class I have ever taken. Ashley Szanter has a gift of teaching English in both an entertaining and educating manner. The course is taught by learning about monsters, which makes it very fascinating. If you do your work on time and take her suggestions, you will pass without any trouble. I strongly recommend this class.

Seriously, Ashley Szanter is my favorite professor at Weber State University. She is hilarious and so interesting to listen to! I loved going to her class because it was always super interactive and fun. I always left her class with new knowledge. She loves what she does and it shows. I would HIGHLY recommend taking a class from her!! :)

Came into the semester really not liking English and was worried about the topic she was teaching about but professor Szanter has changed that! I loved this class, she is a great professor and the lectures were very interesting. You do have to write every night, but it is only a page and is very easy considering the topics!

This was the best English class that I have taken. The professor started class by sharing a funny video or current event. The requirements are very clear and she gives you a rubric for all of the papers so you know exactly what is expected. I was never bored in class because the professor's lectures and presentations were exciting and funny.

Was a really fun class, but you will expect to work hard to get an A. She is a great professor and is very up front with you. Would so take again!!!

I have always struggled in English class and have never enjoyed it what, not even the slightest bit. She is one of my all time favorite Professors, she is a great person and really funny. I honestly wish that all of my English classes could be this fun. Never will ever have a english professor this fun and amazing. Thank You for the everything!

Wonderful class! Monsters are the topic and it is so fun and interesting. Definitely adds a wonderful experience to the class. Not a lot of difficult homework just show up to class. Professor was blunt with her opinions and I loved it!

I absolutely loved this class!! I would without a doubt take from her again. I've always been good at English and loved it, she took that and multiplied it. I looked forward to her class and loved being there. Great teacher and really knows what she's talking about when it comes to monsters! Great teacher, willing to help, highly recommend!

You have about 2-3 easy homework assignments a week. She really makes the class interesting and fun.

Not even done with the class yet. Prof Szanter is a great teacher, she gives you the tools to open your mind to controversial topics. There is plenty of writing in the class so be prepared, but it is also a good thing, keeps you from being lazy.

I cannot speak more highly of this prof. She is in my top 3 favorite teachers/classes. Prof. Szanter has an excellent sense of humor, good limits, fair grading, is very helpful, has a uniquely brilliant method for teaching English. Her ability to combine pop culture while addressing difficult topics is amazing. I left this class sad it was over.

Ashley is awesome! When she is teaching the class you do not feel like you are in an English class. I honestly would take this class again. In the class you write a response usually everyday, sometimes has in class writing, and two major essays. She is willing to help you when you stress. Monsters make a great topic.

She is probably one of the best professors I've had. There is enough homework to improve your writing but not so much that you drown in homework. The two large term papers aren't too bad either; only 6 pages and 8 pages when I took the class. The subject of monsters is really interesting too.

One of the only classes I consistently looked forward to. During the discussions and lectures, it feels like your opinion matters. Very willing to work with you to better your work. A fair bit of reading, but the majority of it is very easy. Not the most traditional English course, but a very unique and fun experience. Highly recommended.

This class was amazing! I learned so much from the lectures about not just English, but about culture, and the world around us. Professor Szanter is a very kind teacher, but be prepared for quite a few short analysis papers (as you would expect from an English class). Don't get the textbook. The quizzes are easy and you can retake them endlessly

This was the best English class I have ever taken! It was super fun and Professor Szanter is great! She tries to always keep things light, she makes lots of jokes, and her monster theme is so cool! Definitely would take again!

This is an amazing class. The professor uses monsters as the topic and it is very interesting. You will have to write a 1-2 page paper usually every class but I feel like that would be the same with most English classes. There are two large papers that you have to do, but you have 1-2 weeks to finish them. Great class! Would definitely recommend it

Only gave two papers, as opposed to the usual three, and was relatively heavy on the homework, but included specific movies as part of the material.

As long as you read the articles, write the papers and can find something intersting to write about for essays youll do fine and also enjoy the class.

I really enjoyed her as a professor. She knows a lot and is very fun with the way she runs class. She has a lot of things she wants to accomplish throughout the whole semester but she helps you get through it. Her class discussions are really fun as well.

Professor Szanter is one of my favorite professors. Her class is always fun. She is a really good, helpful, and fun professor. The homework mainly consists of reading articles and writing a 2 page paper about the article read. It requires some time but really isn't all that hard. The homework is not everyday either. Very lenient in grading too.

Ashley Szanter is an AWESOME professor!! The discussions in class are very interesting and fun to be a part of. It's a way to get your mind thinking. There's only two essays throughout the whole semester, and they are EASY! I was nervous for 2010 English but I would definitely take this class again from Szanter

This course was super easy and fun. The instructor used enjoyable material to lecture about, specifically monsters. Besides two essays and a short presentation at the end of the semester, this course is pretty easy and should be able to pass with a A.

She has many essays you need to write. She will help you if you need it.

This is one of the best classes I have taken. There are daily readings given but they are not difficult and then the bulk of the class is just discussing the readings. She makes the class so entertaining through the discussions. And is also very helpful when it comes to the papers that need to be written and makes it a very low stress class.

She is a very fun and energetic professor. I actually looked forward to coming to this class even though it was English! DEFINITELY would recommend to other students.

I really enjoyed this class. The topic was really fun to learn more about and I did learn a lot. There is a lot of writing but its nothing you can not handle and she makes it very bearable.

Good class, not too much writing. The whole semester is based on monsters so keep that in mind. If you are into that genre, this is a perfect class for you.

Professor Szanter was definitely the best English professor that I have had in college so far. I would recommend her to anyone looking to take her class, Would take again.

You need to attend this class to pass. However, she makes class fun and interesting. You'll feel flooded in papers towards the beginning of the course, but they are simple and the load gets lighter towards the end of the course.

A lot of work, a paper is due every week. 2 big papers, do the readings and the papers and you will pass. Attendance is mandatory; so you have to come to class to pass. But she is an amazing teacher, she really cares and she is entertaining. I would definetly recommend a class by her!

She's a great teacher. There is aquatic a bit of writing, but she gives you enough time and helps you along the entire way. Great topics, I thoroughly enjoyed being in her class, pretty funny and easy to want to pay attention.

Everything is about monsters which lightens the difficulty of it all. Gives some quizzes on readings but she will give a warning before. Overall great class.

This class is not your average English class. The topics that you will write about are monsters and serial killers. I bought the book but never used it. You can pass the class without it.

The whole class is centered around monsters, which makes the class interesting and all around better. 2 big papers, nightly reading, and papers and quizzes throughout the week. You need to go to class to understand, and if you do it makes everything easier. Overall a really good English class and an awesome teacher. Would definitely recommend!

I loved this class! She made sure everything was clear and understandable and responded to worried emails in a timely manner. She is funny and seems to enjoy her job. She is kind and understanding. I would take a class by her again!

There is a lot of small essay writing. The writings did help to develop your main essays due.

This class was a good one! Szanter didn't make it very difficult, but she made sure that you worked for your grade. Her topic for the semester is monsters, which she made very interesting. Attendance is required for your grade. There is a midterm paper and a final paper. If you want a worthwhile English class, take it from Szanter.

Gives great feedback on papers, and seems to genuinely care about you, as opposed to about 80% of other professors.

I enjoyed this class. I think that it would better be titled "Monsters 2010" because the focus of the class is all about various monsters. If you aren't into that sort of thing, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. She is very good at keeping boring english stuff to an absolute minimum.

Professor Szanter was a good overall guide for this class. She not only explains all of the assignments very well, but also provides good feedback once they are turned in.

If you enjoy the topic of monsters, take this class! The whole class was focused on writing about and discussing monsters. I had a ton of fun. She is really funny and understands the problems her students face. Attendence is not optional but very much recomended. She is a great Professor! Get ready for a lot of fun writings and essays on monsters.

Easily one of the best English classes I've taken. Professor Szanter is extremely chill and her assignments are not too difficult. It helps that she has a theme to her course, rather than just writing and reading nonsense. I had a great time with this class(saying a lot) so I would highly recommend this professor.

I took it 3 days a week and at times it felt like a lot of reading and writing especially with other coarsework stacked on top. But other than that, I really enjoyed the class and Ashley has a fun way of presenting the subject matter. I'm glad that I took this class from her and the things I learned from the class.

I loved Szanter! She was an awesome professor! She was passionate about the subjects that she talked about and made class interesting. She was also very helpful in her criticism, she wanted you to succeed in class.
