Really enjoyable lectures, alongside an amazing textbook, really makes this class. Midterms are a bit rough, and the paper felt super long, but was extremely rewarding in the end. A great prof for a great, super widely applicable course.

Professor Denton provides so many resources to her students. She posts all her slides, records the lectures, provides 2 hours worth of office hours, and is detailed in her explanations of the concepts. Her tests were very fair, not too much crazy detail. She is very warm and approachable in office hours and her lectures are engaging

She's a really nice person and made her lectures interesting with the case studies and videos. Her tests are fair game, study the textbook and your PowerPoint slides and you're good to go! She talks about her kids a lot and it was cute not annoying. Overall, she cares about her students, is so approachable and her lectures were good

This was was super fun to take! The material was very interesting and straightforward, her lectures are slide-based while she comments and fairly relatable/applicable to daily life. Tests were fair and straightforward, lecture based with some textbook questions but if you did the reading and paid attention in class, you got it. Great prof! :)

She is absolutely amazing. She is so passionate about her field and uses that passion to explain lecture concepts so clear and thoroughly. Theres a lot of reading in the class but the content is so interesting that it shouldn't be a problem. She makes psychology a class to look forward to.

She Is a must have if you want easy grades. Also enjoyable to listen, but sometimes gets a bit verbose in her lectures. This semester, 8 marks per just participation!

There is a lot of reading, however if you do the readings the tests will be a breeze. She also makes it clear which parts from the textbook not to worry about when preparing for tests and exams. Lectures were mostly based off the book, however, she explains the content really well and covers some other stuff that will be tested, so go to lectures!

get ready for 50 pages per week on reading. For midterm and exam, all you have to do is to memorize the entire book and you'll be fine

Prof Denton was really great - extremely approachable and really seems to care about her students. She's an engaging lecturer, and though she sometimes skipped to a new topic without warning (confused me as to how this related to that), she was really clear in explaining the concepts.

Great prof, funny, interactive, caring. Lectures were interesting, great and easy paced. Lectures follow textbook with a little more information, so if you don't read/attend lectures, you'll be okay.

Dr. Denton is definity one of the best profs at UofT. You can really feel her passion in psychology when she was delivering the lectures. She really cares about all of her students and wants everyone to succeed. Tests and exams are all MCs based on both textbook readings and slides. Be prepared to read around 50 pages a week!

Best professor I have had thus far! She makes you have a genuine love for psychology, her powerpoints are clear/easy to understand. She explains the material in a simple way and is always willing to help outside of class time. She cares whether you understand or not. Be prepared to memorize all the info in the textbook AND lectures (they're diff.)

Tough tough tough.. be prepared to read 80+ pages of online textbook every week... her tests and exams are difficult. She is a great lecturer and provides great content & info of material.

This is a course that everyone should take. Great content and lecturer, but 3hr classes are long. It's a lot of information to process, on top of book chapters to read. For the M/C tests, know the studies - all variables and results - that's a must to do well on any test. And there are LOTS of them. The assignment is fun too!

Horrible Prof. She has sworn in lecture multiple times to get her point across, or be "relatable", whatever her reason its very inappropriate. She uses every opportunity she can get to put a video of her kids up to show us developmental milestones. I don't care about your kids. JUST TEACH. The guest speakers are nice though.

Prof Denton was very nice, her tests were straightforward and her lecture content was interesting. You need to know content from her lectures and most of the textbook to do well in this class.

Shes super nice and her tests are perfectly fair, if not easy if you take the time to read and make good notes from the book. She can talk fast in lectures but you can ask her for clarification anytime. Lots of overlap between lecs and textbook means you can focus more and book and study lecture exclusive slides only. Great course.

Her slide is very clear and helpful, and she loves multiple questions a lot in the exam.

Prof Denton was enthusiastic about teaching her class. Sometimes things came across as oversimplified in hopes of being clear so lectures weren't all that concise. (kind of sounds like she's explaining things to small children) The lecture material was a lot like the textbook, and the class is recorded so use that to your advantage.

She was a little awkward along the way, especially when we got to abnormal psych, but that's understandable. Her tests include stuff from both lectures and tutorials, so make sure to look through the slides for both. Attendance is not necessary if you can understand the material well on your own. Extra credit for completion of online questionnaire!

Heavy and confusing tests but very enthusiastic as a prof.

One of my favourite lecturers at UofT so far. While the majority of tested material is from the textbook the lecture really helps solidify that information. As long as you do the readings and attend the lectures its not that difficult, just a lot of memorization.

I was warned about prof Denton before taking psy100 but honestly it was pretty straightforward. Lectures were a bit boring at times but the class was fair, study the lecture slides, do the readings and you'll do well.

Her tests were straightforward with little to no tricky questions that you often see in a lot of other first year science courses. She makes lectures interesting and invites lots of guest speakers, but she doesn't always cover all the material so I found myself relying on the textbook a lot. Her tests were easy though, so I'm not complaining.

It's not hard to get a good grade for me in Dr. Ashley's class. The course is definitely reading heavy, but the evaluation structure is simple. The majority of marks come from quizzes and a final assessment. She did not make the class too interesting but I myself has been always interested in psychology and aiming for a major.

I had Prof Waggoner Denton in an async class, but I don't think my learning suffered at all because of it. The Mindtap stuff does get tedious, but it isn't hard to stay on top of it.

Enjoyed her lectures a lot, and many free credits given with activities! Lecture videos are very clearly organized, and work load is not heavy.

The course wasn't all too bad, just get ready to study quite a bit for the biweekly quizzes.

Reading these comments makes me realize that perspective matters. Yes she makes you buy her textbook (she is only a co-author for it). But it is also helpful and mindtap is a mark booster. Yes she may be a bit monotonous in lectures. But you can always speed it up and she is very considerate towards her students

She is a very nice and positive professor. She tries to make class fun despite being in a pandemic. She cares a lot about the students because she is very flexible with her deadlines. Although you have to purchase the textbook, it is very useful in understanding the course material in depth. I would for sure take another class with Dr. Denton.

2 years ago before the pandemic she received many bad reviews, which deterred me from taking PSY100. Biting the bullet and taking it now, I can only assume that she completely changed her style when the class moved online. Now, class is fun, informative, and easy to understand. Quizzes are simple but still require studying. Overall 10/10 course.

Going into this course I expected to learn a lot about the field of Psychology and that was exactly what happened. Really good professor and very fair grading!

easy course, lots of free grades. But I would never take this course again because of how painfully slow and long the video lectures are. You could tell the prof is a passionate educator but man, she has the tendency to take 15 minutes to reword the same idea in 50 different ways over and over again. bird course, just boring.

Prof. Waggoner Denton has such a bright and bubbly personality. She makes her lectures very engaging and overall seems like a great person to talk to and be around. Her MindTap resource is a great way to practice the core concepts that are taught in class. Really good professor.

This was a new course, so there were some ups and downs, but she was very conscientious and accommodating. She spread out grading over several assignments throughout the course, so you had to participate, but it was pretty easy. Overall she's great prof! I am thankful for online class though because lectures were quite boring, but still doable.

Readings and lecture details are tested on the midterm (which is hard) but her final exam is a take-home essay. You need to do an infographic too in her course. Surely will take her class again.

Prof. Denton is very nice and very responsive if you message her outside of class. However, the tests are very lecture and textbook heavy! Make sure you are prepared beforehand. They are surprisingly difficult despite being open book.

Im genuinely confused about how so many people had a hard time in PSY100 with her. One of the easiest courses I have taken so far. Quizzes are very lecture heavy but all the questions are very straight forward. The quizzes being open book also helps a lot.

Professor Denton is an amazing professor! She makes the lectures fun to attend and interesting enough for you to want to learn more. The material is definitely heavy and the tests are definitely not easy. But as long as you do your best work, attend the lectures and do the required work, you will be fine!!

The professor was great, trying to make lectures as meaningful as possible by even inviting guests like patient George. But a least to me, the course's material is super heavy, like about 10 chapters each about one kind of psychology, and the tests/quizzes really went into the details.

I found her lectures interesting. She is very knowledgeable and clear. The tests were more difficult than I thought they would be honestly. There's lots of chapter readings which aren't optional. The homework and research participation are an easy 14% of your grade though! Definitely worth doing them for easy credit.

The chapter readings are long and at the beginning of the semester, I read them thoroughly. However, I stopped reading them mid-way through sem and only looked through them to help clarify concepts that weren't clear in lectures and I got an 85 on the midterm. I thought midterm and final exam were fair, all mc.

The marking scheme is great, mindmap activities (10%), two online quizzes (each worth 10%, all mc), SONA participation (4%) help boost your mark. I recommend making flashcards as you go through the content, lots of terms to know! Although, I have to say that online quizzes (open book) had more detailed and harder questions than midterm+final exam.

She's overall a pretty good lecturer. It is important to read the textbook as most of the material on tests/ exams are found there. Gives opportunity for people to raise their grades through mindtap and the SONA research.

really nice prof! the lectures were interesting and even brought on some guest speakers. grading was very fair - quizzes, midterm, and exam all multiple choice and reflected the lecture + textbook material well. mindtap was also a free 10%, and pretty helpful too.

She is really accessible and definitely makes every effort to help you succeed. MindTap, research and Quizzical was an easy 20% of your grade though! All the tests and quizzes were pretty challenging in my opinion (esp the quizzes since they were open book) but she was willing to adjust the grading scheme if she thought a question was unfair.

This course is very insightful and useful. I would definitely recommend taking as it helps massively with study habits and strategies.

Overall she's a caring and passionate prof who delivers lecture material clearly and with enthusiasm. Her slides are detailed and everything is explained well. People like to hate on the Cengage/MindTap but it's good for holding you accountable. Quizzes are fair and hopefully tests are the same. Super fascinating course, I recommend this highly!

Dr. Denton was a pretty good prof, she was always enthusiastic and passionate about what she was teaching. Super sweet and excellent response time. I went through the entire course without doing a single reading...as long as you pay attention in lecture, she covers everything you need to know.

Interesting lectures that don't move too slowly as some others do. Tests span both lecture and reading content, don't fall behind and be prepared to memorize.

I am a first year and just took her psych course as a prerequisite, she is so silly. Unintentionally a funny prof, she brought up a Taylor Swift reference and no one understood it. Anyways shes really nice, holds office hours, good prof overall.

She was approachable and she keeps students engaged even in a classroom that fits more than a thousand people. 15% of our grade depended on homework completion, the tests were straightforward and all MC, though some questions are based on content that can only be found in the textbook and not in lectures.

She explains each concept clearly and takes time to go over everything in detail. She is very approachable and gives good feedback as well as numerous resources to help you study for the exam. It is very evident that she is passionate about psychology and cares about her students. Would definitely recommend her to other students!

Dr. Denton is a very inspiring professor. She seems very passionate about psychology and makes the lectures fun, clear and easy. She would apply many psychological phenomena to real-life scenarios. She even brought a training dog to one of our lectures! The materials are very clear and easy to follow along, and the grading system is very objective.

Such a bubbly and kind professor. Instructions were clear and even when she travelled and got COVID she uploaded lecture videos that were well-organized and informative. One of my favourite courses and I'm a math major. I am also a huge fan of how she implements assignments that are well-known to help you retain more information (recall memory).

I felt like she cared about her students. Extends deadlines if push comes to shove. Class is very lecture heavy but the assignments cover the buffer. I would recommend her !

Prof Denton is a very enthusiastic and caring person. However, I was really bored in class because I had already taken AP Psychology and knew the material.

She's upbeat and caring. Her rests are MCQ format, so you need to know course content in and out. Readings are mandatory but the format of the mindtap activities is very good for learning. Overall the course requires a considerable amount of work but it's straightforward and extremely interesting.

A really sweet prof and teaches the lecture content really well. Didn't have the time I would have liked to dedicate to the course, other wise I would have done better, as she is genuinely a great prof. Being honest, the TAs are rough markers and she isn't always aware of what they doing, but she is always more than willing to fix a mistake.

The tests are fair, all the questions are reasonable, nothing outside of what we discussed in the class (maybe a few things in the readings).

great lecturer, but it can be hard to get to know other people in the class since there's no tutorial and the class is huge. would recommend joining an RSG for this class or getting involved in psych with an FLC/SLC or with the PSA, especially if you're looking to go into psych

She is passionate about psychology and cares about students, explains concepts clearly and records lectures which is helpful for review. Pay attention to materials she mentioned in class but aren't included in the textbook. Everything in the required readings might be tested, but practice quizzes and lectures are guidelines and will earn you an A.

Very engaging lectures but the class is huge so if you want to make friends I'd recommend an RSG or take it with friends you already have.

She is a good professor, There is a textbook but it wasn't used... everything you need to know will be covered in the lectures.. make sure to stay on top of the studying and focus on getting higher grades for the quizzes and the midterm it will help with your overall grade loads. she will post reading guides .. these have all the info you will need

Professor Denton's lectures can be a bit unstructured, but her slides are comprehensive. Using Unstuck ai alongside the textbook and rewatching lectures really helped me prepare for the tests. Overall, an engaging class if you're willing to put in the work.

Denton is a fun and engaging prof at U of T. She sometimes yaps about concepts but you can tell that she is passionate and caring about the class and psychology. She has an extremely fair tests, but learning is mandatory to pass the class. Be sure she will ask all concepts possible and those that were taught in the class during the midterm or final.

I really appreciated how organized the course was, since I really dislike when profs just read off of slides and provide no support/ resources for the material whatsoever. The thing about PSY100 is that its going to be memorization no matter who the prof is. I really liked that Prof Denton seemed really down to earth and relatable, even playing a song at the beginning of each class. Even better, the textbook came with flash cards and activities. Overall, she was sweet even if the class was slightly boring

Waggoner Denton made only one class in my first year in Uoft that I truly cared about. She was without any doubt the best. Yes, the class is tough, yes, you need to study a lot, but she is most fairest prof you will get in your first year. The test checking your knowledge not trying to confuse you. You are good if you ready to study

The lectures were a little disorganized, readings were very long, but all the quizzes, midterm, and final were fair for a subject that is so memorization-based. The bio-psych unit almost killed me. But I love this woman I don't stand for the Denton hate! Her dev psych units were the best shes soo cute showing videos of her children! :(

Prof. Denton is a decent lecturer and cares a lot about her students. Make sure to memorize the key terms she provides as many test questions hinge on your understanding of the terms.

Overall, very friendly person to talk to. However, the midterm and the exam are were very though. The most important thing to do well is to read the textbook and pay close attention to the things she talks in lecture. But there are free marks you can earn through homework quizzes. There is also a fun multiple choice question creation assignment.

Prof. Denton is incredibly kind. If you keep up with the Chapter readings (doing them every week before the material is covered in the lecture) you will do well come studying for the final. Know the terms from the reading guides well, and don't do Mindtap/SONA credits last minute and you will do well. Dr. Denton is truly a sweetie pie.

This class is quite lecture-heavy, however Dr. Denton does a good job making them interesting, such as bringing in guests to supplement the material. Additionally, her review sessions were very helpful and she cares a lot about her students.

Dr. Waggoner-Denton was so kind, and clearly knows the course inside and out. I personally found the final more difficult, but that was because I studied purely with flash cards, rather than going back through my notes and re-writing them. Tests were very much application-based (you should memorize the situations/scenarios, as well as definitions)

This course is super easy and enjoyable as long as you actually learn, understand, and memorize her lecture content (btw this course is very lecture content heavy). I thoroughly familiarized myself with her lecture material and got an A while the class average was a C+. As long as you put in the effort, this course is actually really easy!

After today's drama I also want to say couple words about Waggoner Denton. She was the first prof during the first year, that made me care about the subject. I did not miss a single class of her, because she was so inspiring. I even get the passion of learning more and more about the human's psychology and the brain. Cant wait for her upper classes

There was a lot of readings for the course but they did cover what was taught in the lecture and didn't go off topic a lot. The professor was very accessible and helpful all the time answering questions in a clear way. I would say the test materials were mostly based on understanding rather than memorization. I found the course fun and interesting.

Really good prof. There was a lot of reading from the textbook but she gave chapter reading guides which helped with knowing what to focus on. Tests covered a lot of content but were fair if you kept up with course content and put in time to study.

Very standard and adequate first year professor. Her lectures are comprehensive and easy to follow. Reading is a requirement and memorization is key. Class average was a C+, which was lower than most first year courses. Going to class, doing the homework and doing the readings will give you at least a B+.

Very nice person; very bad lecturer. Yaps a lot. Unfortunately, some of the questions are based on the examples given only in the lectures, so hard to know when to skip. There is homework that includes reading the textbook. Can get away without reading, but knowing the info will help on the test. Not bad, just not great. Bird course.

I dont know you guys I actually really liked her and her lecture style 😭 To me lectures were way more important than reading the textbook (you could honestly get away with not even reading it) and if youre in life sci, I honestly think youll have an even better time esp with the biopsych unit
