Professor Wilkins is amazing! She responds to questions and emails almost immediately. Her class is a lot of reading and work, but she is always willing to help students. She is funny and really cares about her students. You should definitely take Professor Wilkins!!!
EDU 280 is an excellent class. During the class, you create many tools that can be used in your classroom. The information is clear and relevant. It is easy to earn an A in this class if you follow the directions and complete the assignments.I highly recommend taking professional development at NOVA. It is so much cheaper than other colleges!
I took Professor Wilkins for SDV 101. I learned so much about myself and about becoming a teacher. The assignments were easy to understand and she provides a rubric. You do have to read the textbook and complete some writing assignments, but she will help you become a better writer! I highly recommend taking her class!
BEST. TEACHER. EVER. Professor Wilkins was so helpful and understanding! I would definitely take her again! Her lectures are interactive and fun, but you have to keep up with the reading and assignments.
I didn't want to take SDV 101, but I had to for my degree. Professor Wilkins actually taught me a lot. Her website was easy to follow and had everything you need for the class. I'm going to take her for EDU 200 this semester.
There are a lot of assignments and attendance is mandatory. I didn't think the grading was too hard because there are rubrics that are easy to follow. Assignments were helpful.
Great online instructor. Grades things very quickly. Clear rubrics and expectations. Responds to emails almost immediately. Posts helpful announcements and reminders.
Kind and helpful. Grades and responds immediately. Great teacher!!!
Great SDV 100 professor! No textbook for the class required. Doesn't accept late assignments, but grades quickly and is encouraging. Good experience.
Professor Wilkins is amazing! I took her EDU 200 class, but she is also my faculty advisor. She is so helpful and encouraging. Great professor!
I took EDU 280 online with Professor Wilkins. The course content was difficult, but she was very helpful and responsive. I learned a lot in the class thanks to Professor Wilkins. She was patient and supportive.
I was required to take SDV 100, so I took it with Professor Wilkins online. There were assignments due every week, but she posts helpful reminders. Also, you don't have to buy a textbook. She grades quickly and fairly. You can work ahead if you would like.
Such a great teacher! Very encouraging. Her classes are engaging and fun. It is nice to have a professor who cares so much about her students.
EDU 280 was a great class! In the class, I was able created lesson plans, a voice-over video, and other resources that can be used in my teaching. The class was challenging at times, but I learned a lot. Professor Wilkins was very gracious and provided helpful feedback.
I took her for SDV 101 and loved her, so I was so thrilled to take her for EDU 200! I took the honors option with her and I am so glad I did. She is sweet, considerate, and informative. She was outstanding and had many hands-on activities that were extremely beneficial. I learned more than I thought possible about the profession of teaching.
1 long paper with citations, 2 exams, and tons of projects. Best if you already know how to build a website because you'll be expected to add class assignments to it with culminating e-portfolio at the end. If you buy a Kindle Edition book, beware! You will not be able to use it for your open book, 1st exam only Project based lots of assignments.
SDV 100 online had work every week. Do the work correctly, earn an A. Fast grader and responds to emails almost immediately. One of the best online instructors at NOVA.
Kind, knowledgeable, and understanding. Class was very interactive and fun. Also, the course helped me plan my degree program at NOVA.
Amazing instructor. I'm professor attended a Workshop under her instruction and was wondered how she can engage a whole class of experienced professors and create so wonderful teaching atmosphere even in an online class where all of us felt her presence, support and kindness. I think, everyone should take her class at least once
Awesome teacher! She was the most responsive teacher I have had so far. She answers emails almost immediately and grades very quickly. She was always very kind and encouraging. No textbook required. Unfortunately, she did not take late assignments so work ahead if you can.
This class had a lot of assignments, but she is very positive and helpful. The textbook is a must.
Professor Wilkins was by far one of the best professors I've ever had at NOVA. She truly cares about her students and wants to see them succeed. She provides many opportunities to earn points. The class has a large amount of material to cover, but her approach and syllabus definitely help. Do the readings! Don't wait until the last minute!
She's really great, the only thing is there is an extensive part of taking notes. Her lectures are very informative towards teaching careers and she gives great advice on what classes to take, what to expect from college, and what to expect from a teacher's career. Her assignments are not busy work and 100% helpful.
Introduction to Autism Spectrum Disorders was a fantastic class! I learned so much and really enjoyed the readings. Professor Wilkins gave detailed feedback and responded quickly to all emails. I had a great experience with this professor.
Prof. Wilkins is a wonderful professor! The SDV class itself is pointless and complete busywork, but she makes it as enjoyable as possible. The class isn't difficult at all, just time consuming. I would definitely take another of Prof. Wilkins' classes.
Professor Wilkins is a very caring professor, she loves what she does and is always available for help, via email or in-person. I took her for an 8wk SDV class that only met once a week. There are assignments due every week and a presentation, but it's all very easy work. Her syllabus is very thought out and outlines everything that will be done.
Awesome and sweet!
She is just so nice! She kinda scares you with her online readings and quizzes but don't be fooled, she's a real gem!!!! Will help you on anything, especially advising! You won't want to miss class because her classes are fun! I highly recommend her If you have the chance!!!
I love her!! She is so easy to connect with, she is also very helpful, if you want to pass with an A take care. You do a normal amount of work. 1 or 2 presentions and a couple of homework assignments. TAKE HER!!
She is the best teacher I every had, she is amazing!
Professor WIlkins is an amazing teacher! At first the homework will seem overwhelming but its not at all. If you put in the effort she'll reward you. You do not need to buy the "Portfolio Textbook" she never tested us on anything particular from there. She is very sweet and will remind you on assignments due so it will be easy to stay on track.
My favorite professor by far. She is so sweet, funny and kind. Great teacher, very engaging and has every student involved. She grades anything you turn in usually within the day, often with feedback as well. Communicates what is due day(s) before class. She taught me a lot of valuable information that is very useful. Nothing bad to say!
Shes amazing! Took her twice and loved her. A lot of writing assignments but they are easy and durable. Shes amazing, you wont regret taking her!
Professor Wilkins is AMAZING! She learned everyone's name and made an effort to see how we were doing throughout class. Her directions are clear and she's a fair grader. The class is a lot of work so follow the syllabus, read the book, and don't fall behind.
True definition of an amazing professor! There is quiet a bit of homework to do, but she spreads stuff out so they are not all due at once. She really focuses on individuality and makes sure you are where you need to be in your teaching career. There is a 40 hour field placement attached as well.
I took her for my fall semester and was absolutely great! She responds fairly quickly to emails and is very friendly and offers a lot of help if needed. At one point, I missed a Final Exam and sent an email to her about why I took it late and she accepted it for a late grade. Super chill and friendly highly recommend her :)
This Professor is not structured at all! she gives so much work but has no organization so you never know when to complete something or when its suppose to be due. I would never take this professor again!!
Horrible Professor, when it comes down to organization on Blackboard it's is a maze! she does not explain any of the material needed in the course. So much work to be done and no dead-lines, one day she will just email saying an assignment is due. The time spent in the classroom is not used to teach any of the material and guidance is not given.
She is your ideal teacher. Very knowledgeable and kind. Her only downside is how busy she is, but that also means she is a hard worker. Take her class if you want to be a great teacher!
Professor Wilkins is an amazing person. Not sure what all the negative feedback is about. Do your work, get in touch with her if you are having difficulties and she will work with you. If you didn't show up to class, you could still catch up, but go to class. Lots of guest speakers with lots of information. Definetly take her!
By far, THE best professor. She cares about you so much and the Field Study done to pass the class is so much fun! The assignments are easy and straight forward and if you're planning to get into education, this is the teacher for you!
Professor Wilkins is incredibly helpful! She helped me select courses to complete my degree at NOVA. She really cares about student success. At the beginning of the semester, she gives you a list of all assignments and due dates. Its a lot of work but worth it!
Great professor! Kind, funny, gets to know students by name. 40-hour field placement required in the class so it is a lot of work.
Very responsive. Super knowledgable about courses and transferring. Definitely go to her for advising help!
This class is super interesting! The online class is very organized and easy to follow. You learn about special education and complete a 15 hour field placement. Professor Wilkins responds time questions quickly.
Take Professor Wilkins! She clearly loves her subject and students. You do create a big portfolio, but she spaces the work out over the semester. I plan to take her for EDU 280 in the fall!
EDU 280 was the best class ever! I created a digital portfolio with lesson plans, videos and tools to use when I student teach!! Professor Wilkins was very helpful and provided a lot of guidance. Fantastic class!
I loved Professor Wilkins! I learned so much in EDU 254. Professor Wilkins responds to email so quickly. She even helped me register for the class. You will love her!
One of the nicest people you will ever meet. You will love her and her class.
She was honestly the best professor! There is a lot of assignments but they are really easy. If your not understanding, reach out to her and she'll help you. She's always leave videos as in to remind us of due dates and small introductions to each chapter. Fair grader and she wants everyone to pass! She's so kind, you have to take her! Easy A
I LOVE Professor Wilkins! I've taken her for several classes. EDU 254 was a lot of work with weekly assignments and some group collaboration. Professor Wilkins is kind, understanding and super positive. Great class and great professor!
Professor Wilkins was so supportive and understanding during COVID! She gave us a little bit of flexibility with dates. I loved the class, especially creating lesson plans and a video!
She is my advisor. She helped me with transfer credit and a course substitution. She goes above and beyond for her students.
Professor Wilkins had us read the best book in EDU 254! I learned so much in this class. I think I might even become a special educator now. There is a lot of work in this class but you won't regret it!
Weekly assignments but you will learn so much! She's super helpful and encouraging
Professor Wilkins is great! She is extremely kind and helpful. She always provides feedback on your work and is easy to reach. She really cares about your education and provides you with all the resources you need. She goes above and beyond for her students. In the class, you have weekly assignments and multiple discussions. She is great!
At first, she was a bit difficult and did not provide clear directions. However, she was very helpful and her class allowed me to view education from another perspective. I would definitely take her again.
Great teacher for my first Edu class!
Pretty useful and gives clear instructions! Answers her emails pretty quickly with helpful info. Thank you!
Took her EDU200 and EDU254 courses, one through Zoom and the other fully online. In both classes, she set up appropriate lessons that were actually beneficial, and she was always ready to explain things, even with difficult students. Exams are mostly written, but easy if studied for. She's understanding, caring, and an amazing professor. 12/10
Professor Wilkins is my favorite faculty member at NOVA. She truly made a lasting impact on me and I am so thankful for the opportunities she provided us in this class. She connected me with a wonderful school for my observation and she was a wealth of knowledge during the semester. She inspires hard work and was born to be a teacher!
Professor Wilkins provides clear instructions, assignments are easy/quick to complete. Problem is she refuses to tell what work you have upcoming (talked to her often and she refused to provide a course schedule, even though the point was made that it is helpful for those working in schools). Assignments may be posted 2 days before they are due.
There were lots of assignments in the course; however, a list of all assignments and their due dates is included in the syllabus. Professor Wilkins is kind and flexible. When I had personal issues, she provided me with an extensions. You do need to dedicate 1-2 hours a day for the course or you will fall behind.
Professor Wilkins helped me get a job substituting for my coordinated internship class. She even connected me with HR when my application wasn't accepted. I loved working with her. She responds so quickly and even shared her cell phone number with me.
Took this class in the summer. Daily assignments. Lots of reading. Super fun and interesting content. Really thoughtful teacher.
My favorite professor! Anyone who says a schedule is not provided is just plain wrong and not paying attention! The syllabus has a list of all assignments and their due dates. She posts multiple announcements a week with assignment reminders and due dates.
There are group projects, which is challenging in an online class. There is also a lot of reading, but Professor Wilkins provides videos you can watch if you don't understand the reading. The class got me back into reading... I loved reading about Maya Angelou's life and applying developmental theories. I learned a lot about myself too.
Worked for 50 hours with Edututor. Earned 1 credit and an A. Professor Wilkins helps me with the application. Super sweet! Highly recommend!
A group of us saw a negative review and wanted to do our part to set the record straight. Professor Wilkins got me G3 funding, so now I don't have to pay for my education classes. She's an amazing person and really knowledgeable about the courses you need and how to earn a license.
I'm in the IA cohort and took EDU 204 in the summer. We read a ton of books but the class was super interesting. I learned a lot about myself. She has lecture videos which are sometimes long but also uses Ted Talks. She gave lots of reminders about assignments and helped me register for fall classes.
Great prof! the class is a lot of work with weekly assignments, a few big projects, and group presentations. I learned a ton and appreciated her stories from the classroom. She is a great listener and has us share about field placement experiences each week. One of my favs!
She is the absolute best! She found 2 possible course substitutions so I could graduate on-time. Fast to respond and so helpful!
So kind and helpful! Highly recommend!
Best professor ever. Her online lessons are easy to follow and if you keep up and submit work on time you'll get an A. She went above and beyond to provide me with personal advising and always was available to answer any questions. She grades super quickly and provides detailed, encouraging feedback. She is the BEST.
Professor Wilkins is very nice and helpful. I took her 7 week online course and let's just say you need to manage your time because there was about 10-12 modules and each had 5 assignments so, all assignments were due everyday but, she doesn't take points off for late work. I got an A on the exams by just studying the quizzes.
Super helpful and kind. Detailed and personalized feedback. Very knowledgeable, especially about teaching licenses.
Professor Wilkins responds to emails so quickly! She really wants to help. The class had a lot of work and assignments, especially for 1 credit. BUT it was worth it - I learned so much and now have a plan for graduating and transferring.
If you take EDU 204, you better like reading. You have to read 3-6 books during the semester in addition to the lecture videos and articles. Professor Wilkins uses a lot of TedTalks from a lot of different people but really interesting. Definitely not an easy course but she will give you feedback on your work if you email her in advance
Professor Wilkins is a caring professor who will help you through the semester and into the school system! She responds quickly. Her assignments are very organized and have clear expectations. Expect to do something EVERY SINGLE DAY of the week + a group assignment due every week! Groups are randomly assigned which was the worst...good luck 10/10
The course utilizes a wide range of media platforms, including writing tasks, e-portfolios, video responses, discussion boards, and group projects which means you need to stay organized and be ready to adapt to different types of assignments. Regarding feedback she gives on assignments, it tends to be fairly generic and lacks personal touch,
I took her class over the summer, & it was fairly straightforward. Be prepared for 1 assignment due every day, 2 essay exams, & group project. Participation in discussions is crucial, & assignments require students to have a basic understanding of applications like Google Sites & more. Easy to reach, but fairly confusing directions on assignments
If you take this course online, get ready to read a lot of material. The assignments are fairly easy if you put in the work but you will need a decent amount of time set aside to read through all the modules. The professor was very caring and understanding when I reached out. There are some group projects involved so be prepared. I would recommend!
I took EDU 204 as an online class. I was really worried about taking an online class but she has a lot of videos and will allow you to redo an assignment. The field placement was the best part of this class. I learned a lot from my supervising teacher.
This class was a lot of reading but there are videos to help you understand the material. Professor Wilkins gave me very detailed feedback on my essays, which was helpful. She responds very quickly to email and is always friendly and helpful. The class was a lot of work... you need to stay organized.
The good - online class, video lectures, responsive, helpful feedback, organized Canvas course site, fair grading, accepts late work if you ask nicely, wants you to succeed, very kind The bad - group work, discussion boards and video responses, almost daily assignments, textbook (optional) plus additional book to read Would take again
Super fast responses to email and questions Lots of reading and assignments…. Fast grader with decent feedback straight forward class don't be scared to take an online class she makes it manageable.
Really great online class. Video lectures, quizzes, discussions, small group assignments, reflections, and a long-term book study. Organized class. I learned a lot from her and the assignments. She is very responsive and kind. Communicate early if someone in your group is not responsive. You will work hard!!!! But definitely worth it.
Great online class. A lot of work so be committed to turning in multiple assignments a week. A lot of reading but easy to navigate class. Field placement that requires you to be organized.
EDU 204 with Professor Wilkins was one of my best online learning experiences. She's a wonderful, understanding instructor who provides fantastic feedback. She was incredibly supportive when I had personal difficulties during the course. She gives amazing feedback the kind that you look forward to finishing your assignment just to see it.
I love most the EDU teachers, all very nice. However, she is just not for me. Incredibly group work heavy + discussion boards. You have to make a video reflection each week as a PreReading. Two (very) mini essays each week pretty much. easy grade as she has a forgiving late work policy, but unenjoyable course. an assignment due everyday
Probably the best professor I've ever had in college so far. She cares about the program and gives great feedback. She's not a tough grader at all and even will accept late work.
