I have NEVER liked math, nor have I ever gotten a good grade on a math test. She makes math understandable, and I am getting A's on my tests. She explains how to do the problems thoroughly, and doesn't rush through them or teach straight out of the book. She assigns a fair amount of homework and the tests are easy if you study!

She's new to MJC but you will not regret taking Mrs. Huisman. She goes over everything, and makes sure everyone understands before going on the the next section. Best math teacher I've had in a really long time.Just do the hw, go over the study guide for the tests and you'll do just fine. Answers emails very quickly too. Highly recommend.

I would recommend Ms.Huisman because she takes her time on showing how to do the work and if someone has a question she won't go to the next section until everyone understands the section. She can also be very sarcastic so she makes class fun.

Best math teacher i have ever had! She explains math problems crystal clear. Her tests are the same as the practice exams given out, except different number. Loved her grading system, instead of a whole math problem being wrong she scores it out of a certain amount of points of how much you got right. Overall easy A if you attend class .

BEST math teacher I have EVER had! She explains everything so clearly and it all makes perfect sense. Uses an online homework system, but not difficult to use at all. Before I use to hate math but I realized it was because of the people teaching it. It was not until taking Ashley class. I sing her praises. She is amazing. She is very detailed, organized, and understanding. At the end of the semester I fell in love with math. Thank you Ashley. I wish you were teaching Math 90.

Best Math teacher I could have hoped for. She is very helpful, kind and easy to understand. There are no surprises on her tests and I felt comfortable asking lots of questions during lecture. She makes her own notes and then lectures off of her notes. No book. Homework is online using mymathlab which is super helpful. GREAT PROFESSOR.

I cannot even begin to explain how helpful and sweet she is. She will never get mad at you for asking a question and does her best to make sure everyone succeeds. She's understanding and knows that not everyone loves math, but she still makes it easy enough to understand. I would absolutely take her class again and I would recommend her to everyone

used every source available, to teach Math required to pass. She explained and demonstrated Math problems clearly and gave excellent example for homework that made it easy to understand. She use full size board to teach. She explained in an easy ways to understand the steps to get the correct answer.

The first time I took Calc I didn't do so well. When I took Calc 1 with Yu, it turned into the easiest math class I've ever taken. Her lectures are not only crystal-clear, but any questions that may arise she will immediately answer with some kind of funny explanation tied with it. I will definitely be trying to take her class for Calc 2!

An awesome person. Very humble, helpful, and has thorough explanations. Expect homework as assignments have around 100 problems average, but she offers help and you get a week to do it. If you math isn't your strong suit, take her but do homework, sit in the front, and ask questions. Don't skip class as you will miss crucial info.

Great instructor, she makes the class funny and entertaining. I have taken other math professors for the same subject but she makes it easier to understand. Professor Ashley Yu is the best math teacher I have taken at MJC! Make sure you attend class, take notes, participate and you will do well. She gives out practice tests so you know what to expect on the exam. She is open for questions during lecture, so don't hesitate to raise your hand. Professor Yu is by far the best math teacher I've had at MJC (of which I've had six). Showing up for her lectures is MANDATORY, but I promise you will learn the course material thoroughly. Mrs. Yu is a wonderful math instructor. Homework is easily manageable and lectures are very focused and clear -- those worried about professors who skip/do steps in their head when writing on the board should fear not! I had a lot of trouble understanding the material and failed with a different professor. I love the way this professor explains in detail how things work. I was able to understand the material and passed with an A! She challenges and pushes us but she's really sweet and an excellent instructor. She has a sense of humor and really cares about us.

Really kind and funny prof. You can easily pass with a B or A if you're decent at math. Math is my enemy so I always end up with a C. I was unsure about taking it online but with her its a breeze. Her exams are fairly simple as well and she's a kind grader.

Absolutely, the best mathematics professor at MJC. She made integral calculus easy to understand. She takes the time to make sure her students thoroughly understand the material. The material is by no means easy, as you will have to put in a lot of work to complete homework problems and prepare for exams, but then again, that is to be expected.

THIS WORLD NEEDS MORE TEACHERS LIKE PROFESSOR YU IN THE STEM FIELD! Very understanding and knows that not everyone is good at mathematics, she will hold your hand and lead you to the promise land! Wonderful teacher with a great heart for humanity.

Ashley Yu is such an underrated gem. She's funny, engaging, and doesn't unfairly grade. She gives partial credit for what you do correctly. Her lectures online are fairly long, but not undoable. I cannot praise her enough. Take her if you get the chance.

She's just awesome! best math teacher ever. I was struggling with math for the longest and her teaching abilities made me love math! Class was very simple, quizzes would often be as a group or individual with open notes. Test were easy and short, up to 15 questions max.

Great Professor!! You turn in hw every Tuesday, she does tend to assign quite a bit. It's not hard, just repetitive. Exams are easy if you know the material and "pop" quizzes every week. They're only one problem and are VERY easy. She's lenient and really wants you to pass. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Just do the hw and you'll do well

Professor Yu is great. Her lectures are easy to follow and she's great at communicating the material/simplifying it. Exams can be difficult so make sure you truly understand the material and do all the homework problems. Also, she's very friendly/approachable and is always willing to help if you need it. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed her class.

I was really nervous for trigonometry, by with Yu it wasn't all that bad. I took it in the summer too, which really scared me. For the summer, we'd have quizzes weekly but it was more to check attendance. The quiz would be simple, 1-2 questions. The important thing is to do well on the tests, they will make or break your grade. Quirky prof overall.

An A or B can be easily achievable as long as you take all the lecture notes (from her online lecture videos) and do the homework problems. An index card can be used for the two midterms + final, and she's quite the lenient grader as well!

Awesome! Hybrid - on campus for orientation & exams. Lectures are great aside from some audio issues, content is communicated perfectly, great teacher if you struggle with math. You are given a note sheet that must be filled out with lectures, usually 2 lectures (30-60 mins each), 2 HW assignments, and 1 quiz per week, HW and quizzes on MyMathLab.

I love Ashley. I've taken her for two classes and both have been some of my favorite. She makes math so fun! She's super bubbly! She's very knowledgable, understanding and willing to help students who are struggling. Math is hard, don't miss class and take good notes, but Ashley is easily the best professor at MJC for math. Take her if you can!

I struggled with Math all through high school and was suprised when I was placed in a more advanced Math. Professor Yu is so good at teaching math, the easiest year of learning math I have ever had in my life. She is very funny and is very acessable if you have any questions.

Professor Yu is one of the best math teachers at MJC. Her lectures go over the material thoroughly and she goes back and explains the stuff that came before it as well (simple math type stuff that I tend to forget). We get to use one flash card of notes on exams and she offers extra credit. I wish I could have this prof for all my math classes!

This is seriously my favorite math professor at MJC. Ive had her for 29 and 111 now. She doesnt make you feel stupid for asking questions and is available 4 days a week in office hours. Her lectures cover the material very well. She is a great professor and a really nice person. Take her class, she makes learning math fun and stress free. 10/10

I love Professor Yu! I have always been awful at math, but her lecture videos explained things in a way that made sense. Took two math classes with her and received an A in both. I have never gotten an A in a math class in my life until having her as a teacher. She was understanding when I had internet issues as well and gave an extension.

Prof. Yu is a great teacher. She has a positive energy that is contagious in the classroom, with a down-to-earth personality. She is honest about what she doesn't know (very rare) and is always willing to help students understand the subject, the homework, etc. Be prepared to do old school textbook homework. Exams are pretty easy and fairly graded.

Makes the confusing and abstract subject of linear algebra easy and simple to understand. Good explanatory lectures that go through an outline of the textbook. Tests almost directly resemble the practice exam. Weekly homework quizzes are exact copies of problems assigned in the homework. Definitely take this teacher.

The content is hard and you might find yourself skipping lectures to teach yourself but she's a good professor and is super caring. We covered a lot of stuff in a short time so she rushed some things but that's how the course goes. She offers a lot of extra credit and also takes late work. The tests are also easy. This was my first math class and I can tell I will miss having such a cool teacher in the future. As someone who's brain stopped understanding math after 5th grade, TAKE YU'S CLASS!

I took her Dual Enrollment semester for Math 101. Even though it was all online, she was very straightforward with the assignments and the grading. This class is easy as long as you watch the lectures and do the homework assigned. Sometimes, putting the videos 1.5x speed is recommended. When it came to grading, she was really lenient and flexible.

Ms Yu is super understanding and always responded quickly to my emails when I had technical issues. The class was really manageable, and had unlimited attempts on problems and multiple chances on quizzes. Plus, extra credit for taking notes. The lecture videos were somewhat old and had poor quality, which made them hard to hear. Overall great!

I took college algebra with her and she's amazing! My favorite thing about her is that if you ask her to extend a due date, she will not even think twice about it and help you out. In my class, we had 3 midterms and 1 final but she drops the lowest midterm. If you aren't the best at math but have to take a class, take Mrs. Yu she's the best!!!!

Professor Yu is kind and funny. She does take a few days sometimes to respond to emails, but its very helpful. She doesn't assign much homework and her exams are easy and you're allowed a notecard. Her lectures are boring and she throws some humor in them. I would take her again.

I really enjoy having her, whenever my classes and work overlap for my midterms, she would adjust time for me to do midterms for me. Would recommend taking it!! And as long as you do notes and turn every assignment in time. You should be fine.

Math is my worst subject a she understands that this subject is overall hard. She cares she will help you pass no matter what teaching style amazing and tests are straight forward easiest math class I have ever taken take it for your GE work hard and it will be a breeze
