Really good at explaining things and often lets the class out a few minutes early.
Dr. Morgan is a wonderful professor who does a great job making chemistry clear, interesting and accessible. She incorporated some great demos and was always engaging and entertaining, even in a morning class. Her exams are a bit tough because they are very short (25 questions) but she gives TONS of prep material and is pretty clear what is tested.
I really enjoyed taking Professor Morgan. She offered many study material and her exams were similar to the blackboard quizzes and practice exams. I actually retook chem; I understood better by taking it with her. She made the lectures easy to understand & I loved that she put her lectures on blackboard so we could go back and see them later.
I went into CHM113 nervous and unfamiliar w/ chem, but Dr. Morgan was an absolutely AMAZING teacher! She is so clear and organized that it's easy to follow along. She posts her lecture slides and there's no attendance, but it's worth attending. 4 chapter tests and one final that can replace a past low test score. Chem's tough, but she really cares.
I enjoyed taking this course. Clear grading criteria and good lectures.
Really good professor. I took her for CHM 113 and found her very helpful, even though chemistry is usually difficult for me. My advice is to read and take notes on the textbook before class, then come to her lectures where she'll explain the concepts in more detail. Keep on top of your work, and you'll get a good grade.
Dr. Morgan was a great professor! Her lectures were engaging and she brought in demonstrations often. Don't miss class unless you have to because you'll be playing catch-up for a long time.
Morgan was a pretty good lecturer. She sometimes is unnecessarily strict/aggressive, but she does do an amazing job at laying out what you will all be graded on and having everything graded quickly. I never took AP chem in highschool but I still did well in this class. I attended all lectures/recitation/lab and optional discussion sessions.
Dr. Morgan explains concepts in a way that is clear and easy to understand. She covers material fairly quickly so attending lecture is a must, especially if chemistry isn't your best subject. Lots of homework, but it helps review the material. Tests aren't too bad.
Dr. Morgan kept the lectures interesting and taught the information very well. Reading the lecture slides she puts up are very helpful. The tests were not especially difficult. Attendance at the labs and recitations is required, but not at the lectures.
I pretty much taught myself most of the material for this class. Morgan's lectures were fine, but recitation is what really helped me the most. The quizzes were pretty easy, just by using the internet to help. The homework was A LOT, but this is the case for every chemistry class. I still managed to get an A-, but I definitely had to work hard.
She was always clear and organized in her lectures. There is a lot of HW, but it totally benefits you into learning, practicing, and preparing for the exams. She gives a lot of prep material. Basically, be responsible for your work, put in your best effort and you will be fine. Attendance is not mandatory but I would recommend going.
Powerpoints are great source of information for the class, she mainly reads off the slides. Go to lecture for the solutions and work that is only available from attending. Blackboard quizzes and practice exam correlate and are around equal in difficulty to her exams.
Professor Morgan is hilarious, she is pretty laid back and is very straight forward. There are no clicker questions and she posts all of her lecture slides online so you don't have to go to class but I would still recommend attending. As long as you study hard for the exams, do all the homework, and participate in lab you should get a good grade.
She is amazing! If chem is hard for you, take her! She explains things in such funny terms and up to now the things she taught me still sticks in my head. I HIGHLY recommend discussion sessions and her office hours. Prepare at least 3-4 hours for homework alone! HW is easy but has steps. The quizzes are the same as the exams! Take them seriously.
Morgan's lectures were clear and straightforward. She knows her stuff. If you have to miss class one day, no biggie. There's no participation quizzes and she posts the powerpoints online. Review material is good and the tests are pretty reasonable. Easy A if you have a solid foundation of High School chemistry. Would definitely recommend!
She's a good professor, but do not miss the lectures or you'll be lost. Do the homework and hope for a good lab group. The tests were pretty hard, but if you do well on the final it can help a lot.
Dr. Morgan was an excellent professor. She knew how to keep a class engaged with fast-paced learning and lots of in-class experiments. She knew the material inside and out and explained it clearly and succinctly. She also has a great sense of humor. Definitely take her for CHM 113 if you get the chance.
Great professor! Curves exams if the average is low, offers lots of extra credit, really nice and easy to follow
Make sure you go to lectures and you will be fine. She makes the subject fairly interesting and easier to understand.
Easy class. Go to lectures and Agota's exam reviews to get an easy A. Comb through her practice exams and ask yourself what concepts she is testing with each question. Easy A if you put in the work. Final isn't hard if you took the time to do well on each exam.
Although it was easy to tell she knew her information on chemistry, she was not very good at explaining it.
If there's a will, she provides the way. Success of the class isnt necessarily based on if youre smart or not, but rather if youre willing to work for it. She has the basic homework but then a ton of extra credit and resources available. You just have to take advantage of the opportunities. She cares a lot about your success but wont hand it to you
Dr. Morgan knows her stuff. Chem 114 is a difficult class that goes over a lot of material in a short amount of time. Her test material comes from her slides. She offers a lot of extra credit and the grading scale is decent (88 is an a-). Keep up with the HW and go to discussion sessions and you will get a good grade. She is very helpful and fair
You will have a bad grade but the extra credit literally carries you through that class. She gives a lot of extra credit but you have to work for it. And the key is in attending the lectures and focusing on the lecture. Trust me it gets hard because of how big the class is but she is your best bet for the best grade. Trust.
Dr. Morgan is the best professor I have ever had. She is very knowledgeable about what she is teaching and cares about her students success. She has multiple discussion sessions and office hours every week to help students understand content beyond class. If you do the homework and pay attention in lecture you will get an A.
Very easy to follow and open.
Dr. Morgan is a phenomenal professor! She knows her stuff in Chem 114 very well, and explained it in a meaningful manner. As for the class, its an easy A provided you attend lecture and do all the extra credit. Midterms were tough, with averages ranging from 60-75, but the people who did below average are the bad students and weed outs.
Dr Morgan is a great professor. Her lectures are clear and understandable if you pay attention. She also has many experiments prepared throughout the semester so they aren't bland. Many study guides and information to study for test. She has 3 tests with a final exam which are VERY FAIR tests. TONS of extra credit availiable. The BEST prof for chem
Morgan makes most lectures engaging, all lectures informative, and treats students who show up to class with demonstrations and extra credit to boot. She is accessible outside of class and provides discussion sessions and tons of extra credit to students who need/want it. An easy A if you put in the effort, and she is there for you if you struggle.
I technically did not have Dr. Morgan as my professor. However, I attended her discussion sessions twice a week and attended her office hours. She is super helpful and kind to all of her students. She teaches the information to make it super easy to understand. You do have to work to understand the material. I recommend Dr. Morgan for CHM114!
Homeworks don't match up with whats on test, so get ready to do things you've never done before on the quizzes and tests. Some questions aren't even relevant to what the course, like asking the for the shape of a graph curve when the subject is biochemistry. Some things on the tests and quizzes were not in study guide, trick questions are there too
Amazing! Easy and explains everything very clearly. Definitely recommend.
I love Professor Morgan, tests are very fair if you read/do the homework. There are also a lot of opportunities for extra help available if you are struggling. Morgan gives good lectures that have a lot of examples that really help me with the math, especially because I read the chapter before class.
Dr. Morgan is awesome. This class is difficult but she cares about her students. She gives a ton of homework and reading assignments. Class is very manageable if you read the book and do the homework. Quizzes were not bad and test mimicked quizzes. Extra credit was plentiful to help out struggling students.
I took Professor Morgan's CHM 114 Classin Fall 2019 and loved it. I used to hate chemistry, and expected to hate the class but it was my favorite. She gives plenty of extra credit options and has redemption final. She was also the only CHM 114 proffessor who ran her own disscussion sessions instead of a TA. Take her class! She's Awesome!
I hope the D grade doesn't scare you guys, only got that because I went to lecture four times and missed the maximum amount of lab and recitation before losing credit. Would I retake her class? Yeah! So much that I am next semester! If you focus and actually put in the work, Easy A. My friends still laugh at me for my grade.
She is amazing. Super helpful and truly cares about her students. I am taking her again this summer for 116. Definitely the best chm prof at ASU. She makes a very hard class a bit easier to understand. Highly recommend taking her.
Personally was never a huge fan nor the best at chemistry. However, Professor Morgan teaches extremely well and provides a lot of opportunities for extra credit (if you put in the extra work that is). I bombed Exam 2 somehow (did worse than kids that didn't study at all), the redemption final gave me a second life. Overall great professor!!
Morgan was an amazing teacher. Gave about 7% of extra credit assignments, and a 64% was passing.
Professor Morgan is the best chem 113 professor and I plan on taking her again for chem 116 in the summer. She offers a lot of extra credit as well. Her lectures were straightforward in my opinion. The homework in the class is timing consuming so dont wait until the last second to do it. You do need to study for the class but it is manageable.
Fair professor, clear lectures with good notes. Homework was relevant to material on the test. Lots of opportunities for extra credit. Lectures were clear and informative. If you're struggling, go to office hours! She's very nice and will personally go through your problems. Responds to emails. Basically high school chemistry with more homework.
She truly is the best chem 114 professor, at least. She gives good lectures and is very accessible. She wants you to pass and is always open to helping with homework problems. Do the homework and you will understand. She has review session befor the exams. Attend them and dont be shy to ask questions! Go to the LRC the moment you start struggling!
Dr. Ashli Morgan is the best instructor you can ever have. She is very sweet, kind, and really cares about her students. Beside her excellent teaching manner, she is always available if you have any question or need any kind of help. I am definitely taking her again.
Amazing professor! I took with her CHM 113 and 116 and got an A+ in both. She gives A LOT of extra credit which pumps your grade a quite ton. Exams can be hard but there are a lot of resources available to study for them, such as the DSMs, exam reviews, discussion sessions, and chad reviews. Also, she replies to emails faster than my friends do :).
I took her for chm 113 and 116 and she is a great professor. She offers a lot of extra credit so do it as it will help your grade in the long run. I got A+ in both chm 113 and 116. There are also a lot of sources for help such as discussion sessions. The homework is a lot so do not wait until the last day to do it.
I hear shes great if the class is in person, but do not take her online. She has 2-3 hours of pre-lecture videos before every single class. During the zoom meetings, she doesnt actually teach anything because you were expected to watch the pre-lecture videos. Everything is overly complicated.
3 tests and a final, but final replaces lowest test score so really 3 tests go in the grade book. She allows note sheets on test, she really cares for her students and is easily accessible. It's a difficult class but she makes it as easy as she can. Solid professor would take again, best chem professor choice at ASU.
I love having Ashli for CHM 114! During class she really wants you to learn and be engaged. Lots of work outside of class, but tons of extra credit offered. Zoom lectures are optional but very beneficial!
I loved Dr. Morgan! Had her for Chm 113 and 116. Super friendly, and offers extra credit to help you out! I love how she explains the concepts and goes through problems. Throws in some fun puns in the lectures. If you take a class of hers during the pandemic over Zoom, make sure you keep up with the lecture videos!
Was in a severe accident that left me in the hospital for days... I missed one of our big exams while in the hospital and she would not allow me to retake it at a later date. I was forced to medically withdrawal from the class and take it at a later semester. Her lecture videos were very long and boring and tests were much harder than other classes
Dr. Morgans a pretty solid teacher, her videos and notes are super long though, I skipped watching them and just took notes off the slides and I did fairly well. Provides a lot of extra credit. This class is difficult, but she provides a lot of opportunity to succeed
There is lots of work to do for this class, but she adapted well to remote teaching(online this semester bc COVID). All the information you need for the test is in her lectures, the textbook is more of an optional supplement. A good amount of homework, but you get lots of EC and cheat sheets for the tests. If you try, the class should be a breeze.
Dr. Morgan is a great chemistry teacher! She really does all she can to make sure you are prepared for the exams, taking time to do in-depth exam reviews with questions students submit to her. Her lectures take a long time to watch, but if you push through and put in the work it's an easy class that does a good job at teaching the material.
The extra credit is NICE. Do all of it and you will do well in the class. Tests are pretty similar to the quizes, and arent bad. Overall its a pretty easy class and would take it again.
Dr. Morgan teaches really well and is generous with extra credit. She has a great sense of humor and cares about her students. This class covers a lot of material in a short time, and she does well within that limitation. My only complaint is that for COVID-19 Zoom classes she expected us to watch many hours of recorded lectures on our own time.
This is certainly a hard class and at times you may feel overwhelmed but the way the professor has it set up, you have so much cushion you could fail all the tests and do alright.
She is a great professor and really cares about her students, she even takes the time to meet with students individually to talk about their grade. Now that might not seem like a big deal but with over 400 students it is.
Bonus, there's a ton of extra credit in her class but with that being said, without it I would have received probably around a C so make sure you do it all. I took her class during covid and she posts hours and hours of lecture videos each week and it took me about 3 hours of just watching videos and taking notes a week and that was on double speed
Be warned, CHM114 is compressed. 2 semesters shoved into 1. With Lab and Recitation, it takes a lot of time. Dr Morgan is an awesome professor. Plenty of extra credit. If you do the work, you will pass even if you do horribly on the exams. No curve but grade thresholds are lower than normal. Highly recommend!!
Professor Morgan, despite the challenges presented by COVID-19, did an amazing job with this course. While her lecture videos were longer and highly condensed, they were still a major reason I did well in the class. Her tests are quite difficult but you can make up for those scores in extra credit. Prof. Morgan tries hard to ensure your success.
Shes very caring and wants you to do well, but what she says goes. Not flexible. Heavy volume of work makes completing extra credit challenging.
Great teacher, if you watched her lecture videos and paid attention during her lectures, itll be hard not to get an A
She gives tons of supplemental exercises and opportunities for extra credit
Ashli Morgan is a fantastic professor, she really makes her students enjoy the material! She is a very fun professor who is more than willing to work outside of class with her students in order for them to succeed. The quality of help that I received during my course was extraordinary. Her lectures are long, but you'll definitely succeed.
Professor Morgan was absolutely amazing! She had great video lectures and would stay on Zoom after class to just talk with students. Super funny and clearly knows what she's talking about. This is definitely a class you won't pass if you don't read and study, but if you do the material you will definitely pass!
Dr. Morgan by far one of the best professors I have had. Extremely caring RIDICULOUS amount of extra credit Lecture videos posted once a week (15-30min a video, 2-3 hours total) Actual lectures only goes over quiz answers BEFORE quiz is due (Attendance not required) Practice exams very similar to exams Failing this class would be impressive.
Morgan is one of the best science teachers Ive had. She really does care about you learning and does provide you EVERY OUTLET POSSIBLE to pass. She offers so much extra credit, does review sessions, has office hours, and provides worksheets with a key and really good explanations! Really good professor.
Morgan is an amazing person and the professor hands down the person to take for chem. You will not fail this class but be ready to do some work. Science classes are just in general take a lot of work. But Dr. Morgan gives you every potential way to succeed. A ton of extra credit, do it as much as 7%. drops 2 hw, resurrection final, drops 2 quiz.
My favorite professor I will ever have. The easiest chem class you will take. Lecture videos are very informative and help a lot, she gives a ton of extra credit, homework takes a little bit of time to do but is super helpful. Exams are not proctored and are open note. I love her and taking her again for CHM116.
Dr. M's lectures were amazing. She is able to simplify challenging concepts. She is insanely responsive outside of class; sometimes I would email late in the evening, not expecting a reply until the next day, but would get a reply shortly after! She offers extra credit, as well, and it is focused on expanding your science and research proficiency.
I had a really fun time in this class. Professor Morgan adapted this class quite nicely to the online format and tried her best to keep us engaged. She provided LOTS of extra credit, so much that it could raise your grade by like 6-8%. The exams were a doozie and there was a decent amount of work, but it was a great learning experience nonetheless
Dr. Morgan was an iffy professor for me, not the worst but could be a bit better. I took 3 summer classes over break and it definitely burns you out. If you think you can handle it go for it! They give lots of extra credit opportunities and she makes sure you pass. As long as you do the work you should be fine :)
Very good lectures. Any given topic was explained very clearly, she offered lots of extra credit that made for an easy A or A+ as long as you were willing to do the work. The extra credit wasn't fluff either, it directly prepared the student for the exams. Good professor. Recommend taking her classes 100%
Such an amazing professor! Honestly she has amazing lectures and power points. She offers tons of extra credit and drops your 2 lowest hw and quiz grades. She also has low grade cut offs so you could have an 87 but still he at an -A. She's very funny and has lots of in class chemical demonstrations!!
Great teacher has a nice curve and extra credit. Your probably doing a lot better in her class than you think. She has great review videos for her test. Cant recommend enough. Although the lab portion was awful but youll get through it.
Dr. Morgan is absolutely wonderful. She is accessible, involved, and very helpful. CHM114 is a difficult and accelerated course, but Dr. Morgan does make it as smooth and painless as possible. If you take advantage of all of her extra credit, reviews, and other additional resources then you will definitely be able to succeed in her class.
I really wanted to like this class but it was impossible. Having recitations before lecture was unfair and the lab handouts were ridiculous. They haven't updated the lab handouts in well over 5 years since they reference blackboard still. Lectures had poor time management and she would rush through important, difficult topics. Chm is ruined for me.
Really clear lectures, lots of examples. Homework every week, 3 unit exams and a final. If the final grade is higher than your lowest test, it will change your lowest test grade to the grade of your final. Recitation is easy but a time crunch, some labs are bad some aren't depends on your TA.
Dr. Morgan is fantastic, she is thorough, organized, and super understanding. She is so willing to help students and keeps me actually engaged by cracking a few jokes every now and then. Pretty much everyone in my lab and recitation who didnt have her wanted her instead.
While lectures arent always the most interesting from her (and sometimes lag behind lab and recitation), she will do demos from time to time which will help with the material. I recommend having some Chemistry knowledge so that the material isn't too hard, as CHM 114 moves fast, but doable. Pretty solid with extra credit, but nothing too special.
Dr. Morgan was an excellent chemistry professor. She would always cover all material in lecture, and her lectures were amazing, sometimes with cool demonstrations. This class is fast paced with lots to know, but she has lecture videos in case you miss something in class. Overall good class and very nice person that cares about students.
Took Professor Morgan for CHM116 this year. chemistry is a tough class but she gives you everything you need to succeed. discussion sessions are offered to go over homework and practice exams. lab and recitation can be annoying but just go and you will get a good grade!!! Gives out so much extra credit that can really boost your grade!
Attendance is neither mandatory nor necessary for this class. All of the exams were on canvas without a lockdown browser. I never went to class and still managed to get over a 100% in the class. As long as you do your quizzes, homework, and lab reports on time you will get an A in the class.
Did not learn anything from CHM114 with Wolf so I decided to try again. Morgan knows how to teach and she excels at it! She does not assume students know certain things so she provides clear explanations for everything. I dealt with personal issues this semester and she provided fair accommodations on exams to help. Helpful during office hours.
I swear she is the best Chemistry professor at ASU. She really cares about her students as well as offers more than 63 extra credits, you should be able to get a B easily or A with the extra credits do all of them.
Dr. Morgan truly cares about her students and wants each and every one of them to succeed. She provides countless extra credit opportunities. This definitely is a tough class but she does so much to help you succeed. All of her exams and final are online (no lockdown browser) as well as her quizzes and homework. Best chemistry teacher at ASU by far
She structured the class in a way to where you can pass without doing the HW as long as you study for the exams. Labs and exam carry you far, and the recitation weight is nice too. Overall, it was not that challenging of a class as long as you study the practice exams and pay attention/participate in the recitations. 10/10
She is a great professor and sets up the course for anyone to pass. Exams are difficult but passable. She gives a lot of homework and quizzes and extra credit which help balance out bad test scores.
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EXTRA CREDIT. it helped my grade significantly ! Tests are challenging if you dont go to the review sessions/study. Morgan was a great teacher and wants all her students to pass ! She even throws in a few experiments which are cool ! Grading was super clear which made it easy to understand where your grade stood. TAKE HER !
Offers lots of extra credit to make up for difficulty. Didn't find lectures too helpful since she has to cram so much material into 2 lectures a week, I mainly just learned the material on my own through the homework and recitation activities. This class will be tough no matter what, and she does her best to make it a bit easier on you.
Dr. Morgan is a great professor. She is a very kind person and gives good lectures. She is easy to understand and gives you all the information you need to succeed in the class. She gave out a excel spreadsheet that allowed you to calculate your grade and showed you all the weightings so you weren't surprised when your grade changed.
Online open note exams, mandatory recitation for 114, tons of extra credit. Easy A if you spend the time to have a basic understanding of what is going on. Dr. Morgan is a fantastic fun professor that makes grading and expectations 100% clear. She sets everyone up for success, just put in some time because 114 moves very fast.
She is the best! Her lectures are interesting and informative. There are so many resources to review and so much extra credit. I only have good things to say about her. TAKE HER CLASS! If you go to the discussion sessions and do the extra credit you are sure to succeed in this class.
Great lecturer. Tests were somewhat difficult, but she offers plenty of extra credit. Grading scale is curved. If you fail this class, you just didn't do any work. She really cares for every student. Very responsive to emails and questions. Wants you to have fun. Would recommend.
I took both her classes of 113 and 116. I love her energy.I am a little bias since I got to know her personally through covid learning and last year in-person. She is heavy with material, but with the HW and examples she gives they mellow with her exams. She gives so much extra credit and even attending her sessions she asks for feedback. TAKE HER!
Fun and refreshing class. good about conveying information, especially what will be on the test.
Yes! Take her classes! I used to despise chemistry even though I want to become a MD. Taking her is just amazing. Her analogies when explaining concepts are extremely clear and easy to follow. She is genuinely excited to teach us. By far, my favorite professor in my stem classes! Please consider this professor when taking chem 113 and 116! :) thx
harsh grader with very low averages, if you care about your GPA at all take Briggs instead. I went with this prof. due to seeing the stellar reviews but after personal experience, I'm beginning to have second thoughts. Some of the best professors in the school have RMP scores of ~4.5/5 and yet Dr. Morgan has a perfect 5/5? idk...
Terrible! Screwed the entire class on the first two tests. This class is a GPA-destroyer and uncharacteristically difficult for a first year level 1xx. If you aren't a chem major, pick a different teacher or better yet, a different science req.
Lot of drama going on in this class at the moment. Professor Morgan gave unreasonably difficult tests that most students apparently did poorly on, then proceeded to blame the entire class for slacking. I have friends who are straight A students that received sub Cs on the last test (no curve btw). Unfortunate, all I can say is AVOID her.
Just received grade back for the second exam, L. I figured the first exam might be a fluke and studied out of my mind for the second one. Didn't matter. Ordinarily don't use this site but sheeesh this professor is brutal, had to put it out there.
I have no idea why this professor came so highly recommended. One of the worst experiences I've had in a class...very boring and the tests are an abomination. Time consuming to no end for a mediocre grade in a class that isn't even relevant to my major.
grading was steep and studying was useless, bad combination.
Dr. Morgan is great, I'm not sure what everyone else is on about. I've gotten As on the past two exams and I miserably failed 4 high school chemistry tests, so. Chemistry is a subject where you have to put in extra work to understand the material no matter who the professor is. She explains things very well, and her exams have not been overly hard.
CHM113 is supposed to be an entry course but under Morgan it feels like a second term gauntlet. I put hours upon hours into this class and was still destroyed by the tests. You'd imagine that the HW/Quizzes would even out the grade but, not proportionally to how bad the tests are. Just go with an easier professor.
Class material seemed straightforward at first, then we got to the tests and things took a swift turn. Tests were unforgiving, I heard that nearly half the class ended up dropping (taking withdrawal) and frankly with how bad they were I wouldn't be surprised.
Dr. Morgan is great! Extra credit is insane. Do all the DSMs, discussions, etc. You can skip going to lectures, but she does give exam questions with answers in class. She also releases lecture videos after she is done with a chapter, so you'll have to catch up at a later date if you skip class. Lecture videos and exam review session is clutch.
Class will eat up a ton of your time. Tests are very very difficult. Should have taken someone else. 1/5
Don't listen to anyone else's reviews. Dr. Morgan is an amazing professor. The best I've had at ASU so far actually. Chemistry is not easy - be realistic, expect to put in some work. She gives exam questions in class and always gives one freebie question on every exam as well. She also always does extremely helpful exam review sessions.
Stellar ratings encouraged me to go with Professor Morgan this semester, but after taking her I'm 90% sure something fishy is going on with these reviews (school should look into it). Half of the class nearly failed her first test and did as bad on the second with NO CURVE. Homework is alright but the tests are a nightmare...can't recommend.
this class has eaten up waaaaaaaay more time than a 1xx class should, and is a stain on my GPA. A's in every other class but struggling pull a B in this one as the tests are so unforgiving, doesn't pull from homework or lecture problems. im really dreading the final now
Guys, she has over SIXTY points of extra credit over the course of the semester. Yes, the class is hard (It's chemistry what else can you expect), but the extra credit literally saves your life and bumps your grade up a ton if you do all of it. Dr. Morgan is super funny, and she makes the lectures easy to listen to. I really recommend this class.
Prof. Morgan is a nice lady, its just the the way CHM at ASU is set up really sucks. This COURSE will eat your time and is really boring, but Morgan is really nice and funny. She will give lots of EC and sometimes free test questions for showing up to class. Will curve tests +4 or +8pts depending on test avg. Neutral on recommendation.
Not a bad Professor and definitely loves teaching but I guess something needs to be said that I did perfect in both Lab and Recitation showing clear knowledge of the material however when it came to the tests, they were nothing like Lab or Recitation and were the main factor behind my lowish grade. I would study for a day or two and still get 75.
It is a tough class, but there are several resources available to help you out. You can not expect to do well on the tests by just showing up to the lectures and doing the homework, but with some effort an A+ is definitely attainable. There is also a LOT of extra credit provided.
Dr. Morgan's alright, but I feel as though she slightly prioritizes her own feelings over students' learning. For example, in CHM 116, she would always post the lecture videos half-way covering through a chapter, when in all reality, people like for material to be available 24/7, because maybe they don't have time to catch up later.
there are quizzes for every chapter which are pretty easy, if you study the textbook that is a plus. all her exams are very much similar to the review slides she gave. Focus on the exams more as that has more weightage, gives a lot of extra credit around 60-70 points which bumps up your grade.
Dr. Morgan is hilarious and makes attending lectures a fun thing to do. Her jokes make concepts easy to understand too. She offers tons of extra credit and creates exam review sessions too. If you want an A+, watch her exam reviews, do the extra credit, and attend her lectures.
Work intensive class due to how ASU CHM dept. is set up. Labs and Recitation are very time consuming just for one added credit. Dr. Morgan, however, is a fantastic lecturer. Even though lecture content could get boring she would keep the slides thorough and us entertained. Lots of EC which actually boost your grade a ton. Tests aren't that hard.
This class itself has a lot of chapters which has tons of Pearson problems, she gives you lot of extra credit which is plus to bump up your grade, the exams are pretty challenging but very much similar to the review she gives, her exams were online and open book so that was an advantage. Overall, she teaches really well, boring lectures though.
My favorite professor ever. Chemistry is a hard subject and Ashli understands that. She gives so much extra credit, so failing the exams does not destroy your grade. I love the way she interacts with her students in lecture. I got a C in this class because I am just bad at Chem but Ashli is truly an amazing professor who knows her stuff.
Dr. Morgan's grading policies are clear, and she provides plenty of extra credit (I think it was something like 6% this semester). She hosts review sessions before the tests, which match the difficulty of the tests. Very accessible during office hours and entertaining during lectures. Lectures aren't recorded, but videos are posted.
Professor Morgan understands that Chemistry is a hard subject for many students. She's detailed in her lectures, gives a generous amount of extra credit, and conducts practice exam sessions before an exam. She's interactive with her students and cares about them. Take advantage of the extra credit and sessions!
Best professor I have had at ASU. She is very enthusiastic and is a great lecturer. Tests are kind of hard.
One of the best teachers at ASU, if not the best. She is so amazingly caring and kind. Always there to help you, gives a lot of extra credit, and acts just like a mom would. The exams are difficult, especially the final, but if you study consistently you will be fine.
Great professor. Very clear on grading and expectations, multiple opportunities for extra credit (a lot of work but VERY helpful), and good lecturer. Attendance wasn't mandatory with the old lecture videos posted in the module, but some topics are expected to be removed or added each semester that are not in the videos. Attend class, higher grades.
Best professor at ASU. She is so understanding and cares deeply for her students. People who fail every test can still pass the course with a B. She is very kind to her students, and will help them as much as she can. Chem is hard, but do all extra credit, and you'll get an A in the class. Dr. Morgan is the best chemistry teacher at ASU by far.
the GOAT. makes chemistry seem interesting. go to her office hours and she will explain the concept until you get it. lots of opportunities for extra credit. do the surveys, worth more pts!! she's a great lecturer and at the end of the chapter, posts lecture videos which are a bit more in depth than irl- good for reviewing
This class was awful in every way imaginable, I wish I could give it a zero but that is not possible. I spent the most time on it even though irrelevant to my major. The only reason I got a B- is because of the large amount of extra credit, which took nearly 60 hours to complete. Don't listen to the other reviews and run far away from this class
Dr. Morgan was an amazing professor to have for lab. She was slow to give you answers but very helpful in guiding you the right way. Unlike others, she would explain concepts on a level that's easy to understand before making it more complex and applicable. The course has a lot of time consuming homework but is well worth it.
She was super nice and taught really well. Do all the practice problems during lecture, it will help for the test too. Exam problems are types of problems you have always seen before. She gives a lot of extra credit, if you do it, you'll get an A+ (as long as you also study for the class). She's also funny which helps.
Professor Morgan was an incredible professor. Her lectures were relevant and in-depth and all our tests were open-note open-book. Also, quizzes gave multiple attempts. There are tons of extra-credit opportunities in the class (boosted me a whole letter grade) and she drops the lowest of each category of assignment. Lots of work but easyish to pass
I took Professor Morgan for biochemistry. She is very non-responsive.. I/other classmates posted on the community discussion board, as instructed, with questions or homework help and she rarely, if ever, replies. She also doesnt reply to emails.. She also sets up canvas so that you cant see your grade throughout the class.. very annoying.
SO AMAZING OF A PROFESSOR TAKE HER. She hands out extra credit like candy. Her lectures are def fast but that's on you to keep up with a goated professor. Does amazing in-class demos which no other chem prof does. Allows exam cheat sheets (front/back) for regular and final (2 pages front/back).
Dr. Morgan is easily one of the best professors at ASU. She offers so much extra credit and ways to improve your understandings. She really cares about her students and her lectures are so entertaining. Great human.
Dr. Morgan was by far the best chem professor I've taken so far at asu. She gives you about 40 extra points and allows a page of notes for the exams, both front and back. She also drops your lowest exam and replaces it with the final exam. I recommend you take her for chem 113 and chem 116.
Dr Morgan is the GOAT. Had her for CHM 113 & 116, would not have it any other way. Would choose her as any chem prof any day. Exams were difficult, but if you study for some days in advance and are intentional with the cheat sheet she allows you, you'll be fine. Some of the HW was hard af but it genuinely helped my understanding of the topics
Morgan is AMAZING. She allows a full double-sided cheatsheet for exams, and 2 pages for the final. Gives lots of hints and extra credit and as long as you show up and try with lecture lab and recitation you'll be fine! Cannot recommend Morgan enough!
Attendance is mandatory (technically optional) because she does concept checks which can be equivalent to pop quizzes because you will need them for homework. Textbook is online, notes provided on Canvas are enough to get by. She is very clear about bringing a SCIENTIFIC calculator ONLY for exams. Review acids and bases before coming to CHM 116.
Super nice lady and gives a ton of extra credit. If you pay a lot of attention in this class you will probably do fine. This semesters averages on tests were between the 50-60s, so that is my main problem with her teaching style. She moves fast, so make sure you can keep up.
Professor Morgan is an angel sent from heaven, I am terrible at chemistry and I somehow managed to get a B in the class. She is an amazing teacher and she makes concepts fun. If you genuinely try to put in the effort you will not fail this class. I would take her her class again every year if I could.
Although she is not willing to bump up any grades, her grading is fair, and offers plenty of extra credit opportunities. As long as you critically put in effort in attending labs, lectures, completing homework, and studying for exams, you can manage at least a passing grade. She is accommodating during office hours and is respectable.
The best professor I've had at ASU. She's very enthusiastic, gives thorough lectures, and offers a ton of resources to help you succeed. A ton of extra credit (something like 7% to your total grade). Exam reviews are very helpful and there are no curveballs or surprises on exams. Take this professor!
3 unit exams each worth 10% of grade and final worth 20%, remaining 50% comes from lab, recitation, and homework (pretty easy points). She is very enthusiastic and entertaining as a lecturer. Tons of extra credit. The tests are difficult, but they are worth so little overall that you could get an A in the class while getting poor test grades.
LOVED Dr. Morgan! Hilarious and super caring. Lots of extra credit, while tests were difficult, if you study the material you should be fine!
Dr.Morgan is by far my favorite professor. I never took chemistry in high school and I got an A- in gen chem 113 and now 116. She made lectures interesting and was amazing at teaching. The extra credit came in clutch!!! If there's one professor who deserves a raise it's Dr.Morgan!!! Take her chem courses!!
If you take CHM 113/116, I highly recommend Morgan over any other professor. MANY EC opportunities. HW is easier than other teachers, she gives free exam questions, + does practice exams before each exam + extensively reviews the material. She makes a clear effort to pass all of her students despite the difficult nature of the course. TAKE HER
I came in with a pretty good understanding of chem, but Dr. Morgan made the class so great. Don't buy the textbook unless you regularly use them. The amount of EC was insane. I ended the class above 100% because the EC gives about a 12% grade boost.
I had her for CHM 114 and she was great. Her lectures are good and I was able to understand them and follow along easily. She gives you the PDF of the slides so you have everything she goes over in class. There were concept checks for each unit and you got free answers to those by attending the lectures. You also get a cheat sheet for all exams.
She goes through all the types of problems and answers questions nicely. She speaks clearly and loud enough to hear and understand. There are extra credit opportunities and allows us to use a "cheat sheet" on the exams which are multiple choice. She has a sense of humor that isn't overwhelming which keeps me focused. I recommend her :)
She teaches the material very clearly and has lots of resources available on canvas. Everything is taught comprehensively and in detail. In terms of material, there is pretty much no discrepancy between homework, quizzes and exams. If you have taken chemistry before, this class should be fairly easy as the first few chapters more of a review.
Dr. Morgan is fantastic! She is very kind, good at explaining chemistry, and gives a LOT of extra credit- I ended up with over a 100% in the class. I have always been good at chemistry, but I have friends who claim to be AWFUL and still aced Morgan's class! She's super approachable and doesn't penalize for missing lecture either!
Professor Morgan has got to be my favorite teacher that I've had during my time at ASU. She works to put everything in your favor. Often there will be feedback on homework and that helps in clarifying what you got wrong without giving you the answer. She answers questions in a very effective manner and is very kind/understanding when doing so.
Good teacher
Prof. Morgan is the best chemistry professor I have had by far and would take her class over and over event though I do not particularly enjoy chemistry.
I want her to teach every class that I take. Her lectures are thorough, without being heavy. She hands out extra credit like it's candy on Halloween. Don't get me wrong, the content is difficult, but if you work at it, pay attention, and take up the extra credit opportunities, you'll easily pass.
Excellent at teaching, TONS of extra credit, has amazing grading policies to make sure you pass. Material can be quite difficult but if you put in effort it's 1000% possible to get an A. Fast responder and was always active on course slack page. Exams can be hard but review videos are great. Would always show up even when she was going through it.
Tedious class with an awesome professor. I'm really glad that it was her who taught this class to me.
Dr. Morgan is an extremely competent lecturer. She tells you exactly what you need to know, and teaches complex topics in a way that's really digestible. Homework was so helpful for exams, and the extra credit opportunities were literally endless (I got above 100% in the class). Use her office hours! Such a cool professor.
Dr. Morgan is by far the best General Chemistry professor at ASU. The class is not easy but she makes it very digestible and clear. She gives tons of extra credit and free exam questions. I ended up with more than 99% on the class just by attending each lecture and studying for the exams using her study guide. She is always available outside class.
Morgan is an amazing professor who cares about her students, gen chem 2 can be difficult at times but still shes is an amazing professor, shes gives out a good amount of EC and gives an extra 5 points on your final to help bump you up a letter grade if you're close. All around great experience
Recitation and lab was waste of time. She gives good lectures and a lot of extra credit. Extra credit takes forever to complete though. Exams and final were tough. There are 4 exams and final.
take her class!! she is an amazing lecturer who made the concepts easy to understand and funny. she gives lots of extra credit and reminds you of deadlines and tests at every lecture. She does concept checks and gives free questions for every exam. the class is very easy to pass if you just do the work and use the resources she gives you.
She's the best STEM Professor I have had so far, her lectures are very helpful and I wouldn't recommend missing even a single one even though attendance isn't compulsory- simply because it IS a decently hard course and once you fall behind it'll be hard to catch up on content. She is approachable and has PLENTY of office hours & review sessions!
From what I experienced, she was by far the best chemistry teacher. Her tests are very hard. I thought I would do better than what I did, but she has a resurrection final. I know you may not think you need to, but DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!!! It helps so much! Especially module 1. That's the most EC available. There's a lot of grace in this class so dw.
Professor Morgan was one of the best chem professors I have ever had. The way she explained concepts was very easy to understand. She goes through questions step by step so it's easy to follow. I took her class during the summer and she allowed notes on the exams! highly recommend
After taking Organic Chemistry, I have a newfound appreciation for Dr. Morgan's EXCELLENT teaching. Her lectures are not textbooks - they are designed to make you learn and retain information, which sets you up wonderfully for o-chem. Opt out of the textbook, do all HW & extra credit, and attend her lectures. If you do all this, you will succeed
She is really a fun professor and easy to understand. She really wants you to succeed and gives you many resources to do so. It's not an easy class by any means but if you complete the work, use provided resources and study you'll be fine. She also gives out a ton of extra credit. She keeps you engaged throughout the lectures as well.
Can't speak highly enough of Professor Morgan. CHM 114 is unbelievably fast-paced, and regardless of the professor, it will be a difficult course. Nonetheless, Professor Morgan is fantastic, gives a decent amount of extra credit, and genuinely wants her students to succeed. She provides more than enough resources, up to the student to use them.
Professor Morgan is an amazing professor. She is extremely personable and easy to approach with questions or any issues you might have. This class is tough but you can do well if you go to lecture, do the homework and extra credit. It is a very doable class and she sets you up for success but you have to show up and do the work. Highly recommend!
It is very obvious that Dr. Morgan is passionate about teaching and chemistry. I have taken her class for two semesters now, and her teaching style is awesome and her demeanor towards the class makes it a positive learning environment. It is a difficult class, but if you put in the work then you'll be fine.
She is a certified baller! Loved listening to her lecture, you can tell she loves her job.
She's chill. 88 is a A- in her books. Plenty of ec opportunities and free points on exams.
SMS is just a great program so even if you're bad at chem, you should be fine. Morgan is super cool and makes the class as easy as she can, but it's still a struggle just because the material is difficult. Use Chads Prep, Ochem tutor, and the provided material to practice. It is a hard class but only because chem is hard, not because of Morgan.
Dr. Morgan is an awesome teacher and is super knowledgable about chemistry. You can tell it's her passion. I personally didn't perform too well on the tests, but I don't think that's really her fault because for every exam except the final there were discussion videos where she would work through many problems that we could see on the test. HARD!
CHM114 can be a fast class, but Dr. Morgan works with you. She truly cares about Chemistry and ensuring comprehension. Difficult exams, but the over 10% of extra credit added to overall grade cancels that out, plus a resurrection final exam that replaces the grade of any previous test. Great lectures with some fun experiments, take this teacher.
Hands down the best CHM 114 professor. Attendance is not mandatory but answers to concept checks are given in class. Tons of extra credit, 2-4 free questions given on each 25-question exam. Cheat sheet allowed on exams, 2 cheat sheets on final. She is very passionate about the material, and explains concepts very well. Final replaces lowest exam
Amazing professor, actually cares, if you put in the work you'll get a good grade, and even if you don't there's enough extra credit so it doesn't matter
AMAZING PROFESSOR. She gives lots of extra credit. Amazing lectures and well thought out lesson plans. DO NOT SKIP THE LECTURES. She reads of slides but its becuase she has selected the important stuff from the book. Totally awesome.
So much E.C. and the grading is very generous. Although I came to class every day, I did not pay attention. Still an easy class to pass. Her lectures seemed exhilarating (i am not joking) and the concepts that I did pay attention to, were explained well.
Great professor. I hated the class, but that's simply because I hate Chemistry. You can tell she loves to teach. She gives a ton of extra credit, cheat sheets on each test, and free questions on each exam, including the final. Do the DSM's because it helps you understand the material. I failed the tests but ended with a B, which is really great.
Great lecturer and soooo much extra credit. The lectures are actually entertaining and Prof Morgan makes the content very understandable and the homework is super easy.
CHM114 is a lot of work, and Dr. Morgan made it bearable. She was always on my side, and invested not only in how I was doing in Chem but how I was doing in college life overall. She employs humor often in lecture, and is engaging. The lectures were so very fast paced, and it was hard to take notes by hand. Exams multiple choice and free response.
Dr. Morgan is by far the best choice for CHM114. She gives boatloads of extra credit, has a generous final grading scale, and a resurrection final that saved my grade. She's also an incredibly capable lecturer! Be aware that the labs and recitation add up to be quite a bit of work in total for the course (but these parts aren't too difficult).
She's a sweet/helpful professor! She knows what she's doing/loves what she does. However, I feel her quizzes do not line up with the hw or lecture. The one small thing you glance over b/c "why would it be on the test?" yeah its on the dang test. It's so annoying. Love her, hate structure of tests/hw. Midterm/final, discussions, and weekly quizzes.
Professor Morgan was a wonderful professor. I was really nervous for this class but if you watch the lectures, do the homework, and practice quizzes, it really helps on her quizzes/exams. She is very easily accessible if you shoot her an email. She offers extra credit and her grading scale is slightly curved as well.
The class is challenging, but not impossibly so. Weekly quizzes that come from lecture/hw and you are permitted a cheat sheet to help you. It is not an easy A, but she is very helpful, her homework is relevant, and she is very sweet if you ever reach out to her. I cannot sing her praises enough!
CHM114 is a hard class but taking it with Morgan made it much better. Her slideshow helps with understanding the material, she gives test questions in her test review, there is a cheat sheet available for each test and two for the final. Honestly, if you put in the work, it's not a bad class. She actually made me want to learn chem.
I loved Dr. Morgans class so much! She is super interesting to listen to and makes chemistry fun! I would definitely take her CHM 116 class but she is unfortunately switching to Bio chem :( I will definitely take her biochem class junior year though!
Super fun class. Actually very good jokes. You can tell she cares a lot about how well of a job she does and how well the message/content is getting across. There are a lot of dum dums in this course and I think she understands that and does very well at making the difficult concepts very easy to understand for everyone, including them.
GOAT professor. Take her if you can. I heard she is only going to do biochem from now? Take her for biochem if you can then...
Offers a lot of extra credit, super easy class
This class is hard because it's chemistry but Dr. Morgan makes it fun by doing experiments and demos in class. She has good control of her classes and answers any questions you have. There are 50 pts of extra credit up for grabs so do it! It raised my grade from an A- to an A. Exams are online and proctored. They're hard but I got 80-90's on all.
Dr.Morgan made chemistry easy and actually fun to learn. I was a bit nervous to take a chemistry class because of high school but she's helped me discover my love for chemistry! She gave tons of extra credit. I would definitely take her class even if its in the morning, I went to half of the lectures and finished with an A.
Morgan was alright as a professor i just hate her grading scale. Had some cool demonstrations during class but honestly feel like you can skip class and still do good overall.
She gives good lectures and is very responsive. Lots of extra credits to bump your grade up. I do have complains about the pacing of this course but that might not be her problem.
Professor Morgan is one of the best professors at ASU. Her lectures are informative (not just reading off the slides) and they're entertaining as a bonus. If you don't understand in class, GO TO OFFICE HOURS. This professor can explain one concept in 10 different ways for a better understanding. Highly recommend. I'm going to take biochem with her.
Professor Morgan makes chemistry fun and accessible. Lots of extra credit, demos, and an engaging teaching style. unstuck AI was a game-changer for preparing for the exams.
Very clear and engaging lectures. Frequent homework assignments made it easy to stay on track, which really helped with knowing what to study.
Course had 7 modules, 1 per week with a 75min quiz. Heavy workload but as long as you keep up, you'll be fine. Many extra credit opportunities each week. She is very kind and responds to students questions very quickly. I dreaded taking biochem but so glad I had this professor. Do the work and the weekly discussions. Watch lectures at 1.5 speed.
Morgan is not enjoyable as a person, but she's a good professor. She's not really understanding of accommodations or situations (i.e. death), but the redeeming quality is that the class is very easy to pass. I would take her again, but I would never willfully have a conversation with her.
Lots of EC but inflexible. Her syllabus requires a 360-degree webcam, so make sure you buy one if you don't have one. There will be some confusion because the Lockdown browser will say to try your best when showing your surroundings, but the best you should be doing is buying a 360-degree webcam to avoid point deduction and trouble.
I did not want to take biochem because of what I have heard, but Dr. Morgan made me actually like biochem which I never thought I would say before. The way she explains everything is thorough and easy to understand. There was a lot of extra credit opportunities every week.
She is a great lecturer and very nice/always willing to help. She makes lectures fun and interesting. Homework for each lecture, but only 10 questions each. 5 tests with no cumulative final. I would highly recommend her for this difficult class.
Dr. Morgan is one of the best professors at ASU. Biochem can be very dense, but Dr. Morgan explains EVERYTHING to help students understand. Attend lectures and keep up with Canvas, and you will do great! She also works in some MCAT practice questions in the HW for pre-health students! I definitely recommend taking her class if you have the chance!
Dr. Morgan is AMAZING. She engages the class so well and truly breaks down the concepts to a palatable level. She wants students to succeed, and one of the main ways she does this is by incorporating MCAT review questions into the HW and exams to account for the majority of students that are pre-med in this course. Wish I could take her class again
Dr. Morgan was excellent! Very transparent about grading & very generous with extra credit. Show up to lectures, take notes, and do the homework after lecture, and you will succeed. She's also an incredibly engaging lecturer & hilarious. Thank you, Dr. Morgan!
Ashli is by far one of my favorite professors! She made me like chemistry, and she makes conversions so easy to understand. She drops the lowest scores at the end of the semester, and I believe she offers extra credit. If you do well on the homework and do the extra credit, you'll do just fine. Of course study the material, but she was amazing!
She makes the class easy from extra credit for every exam, extra credit for attending seminars n a cheat sheet for every exam which i why I got an A.I feel like I barely learned since she was very lenient.Wish she gave more hw and examples. Her slides can be all over the place and the homework assignments barely helped for exam.(Her first 361 class)
I was told amazing things about this professor and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. Not only did she change her syllabus, she added a Cumulative Final and made the 6 Quizzes worth more of the grade. Also capped the extra credit at 40 points/1200. Gave us less than 3 hours to petition final exam scores. Take someone else not her. Run!
Mean and condescending. Refuses to accommodate for any reason (illness death in family etc.) Terrible exams that had better and best options and free response questions that focused on her PhD research no one had any clue about. Dumpster fire of a class I basically sold my life away and still failed. Take Redding in the fall don't do it.
Professor Morgan is one of the best in the department at ASU. Because of her I am able to apply to medical school and feel confident that I will have the tools to get in and succeed. I and so glad I took her for this class and I highly recommend her to anyone going into this major.
Dr. Morgan is amazing and I'm so glad to have had her as my professor! The random student who gave her a poor rating (and I know the student) was just ticked off that Prof Morgan wouldn't fall for her excuses. Excellent lecturer, one of the best classes I've had at this university!
