This class was difficult at times, but Mrs. Smith is very good. For online class her lectures are prerecorded which is very convenient. She gives practice problems and wants to help us succeed. The only annoying thing is the weekly quizzes with lockdown monitor. Other classes do not have to have that so there is a large grade disparity there.

Professor Smith is absolutely awesome. I avoid chemistry at all costs but she made the class interesting and effectively taught the most difficult subjects. I would recommend her to anyone taking this course!

She was nice & I think she was a better teacher after the first test. She was good, but the class sucks. Chemistry is awful, but online chemistry is worse. The chem dept was wrong to test us at the same level as previous years: we didnt receive the same quality of education. Also who doesnt allow students to go back to questions on tests, absurd.

Gen Chem 1 is a hard class. Let me get that out of the way. But Prof. Smith did what she could to break it down to simpler concepts. The only complaints I have were that her lecture videos were very quiet and her teaching style didn't quite match my learning style, but many other people I've talked to loved her as a teacher. A very good choice.

Dr. Smith is one of the most caring teachers I know. If you want to do well in her class, she will give you opportunities to do well. Her help sessions are great and she always provides good feedback to understand the material. Of course Chem is a hard class, but she is still able to talk about the material at least in a way I understand.

love her! has open note quizzes regularly but they're easy. posts review questions before the exam to study. hw is easy and she gives you unlimited attempts. chem is hard but she makes it easy and shes super sweet! she brought us candy on Halloween :,) its all about how much effort you put in. Go to office hrs! shes so helpful

She is great! She makes the best out of a difficult class. She hold regular study sessions and zooms outside of class for exams, and she will happily answer any questions or work out problems with you. She is very funny and engaging in class. Weekly open note quizzes, weekly hw, in class participation activities every week. Go to office hours!

Dr. Smith is truly one of the most kind professors at Clemson. She is the absolutely the sweetest person, and she truly cares about your success as a student. She is very accessible outside of class via email and office hours. It's a hard class, and you will have to work for it, but she does truly care about your success. Take her if you can.

CH 1010 is a very difficult class but Dr. Smith is certainly a good choice. She is young and relatable to students, kind, and understanding. The class was hard, but Dr. Smith understands that. Be prepared to take a quiz every Friday, so use your outside resources wisely. Tests are pretty difficult. Requires much studying and revision of lectures.

Dr. Smith is one of my favorite professors ever. She is super kind and really wants her students to succeed. The class is hard but Dr. Smith tries her best to make the class as manageable as possible. HW and open note quizzes every Friday. She occasionally has in class activities but besides that attendance is not mandatory, but I recommend going.

I loved Dr. Smith. I got a 66 on my first test but she was very helpful and gave me advice on how to move forward. I was able to replace that grade and eventually get an A because of her great teaching and extra credit for course evals. Take her if you can!

I loved Professor Smith and I thought she was an amazing teacher of a difficult subject. She was very accessible and she provided lots of materials to help study, including study guides, study sessions, extra help, and in class practice. She explained very well and her slideshows were very easy to follow and take notes on.

AWESOME professor! Clemson's chemistry department is pretty awful, but she's the best chem instructor BY FAR. Dr. Smith explains concepts well and her lectures are great. Dr. Smith is such an amazing profesor. Not only does she teach in way that makes things easier to understand, she also makes everyone feel comfortable enough to ask questions, talk to her without feeling embarrassed, etc.

Chem 2 is hard and she knows that. She really tries to make the material as easily digestible as possible. She always emails back as soon as possible and is really understanding about personal matters. She also shows a lot of pics of her cats which are really cute. Quizzes and class activities are open note. Highly recommend.

TAKE HER!!!! even if it is at 8am she is the best chem professor BY FAR! she is so helpful and creates other assignments so your grade isn't just dependent on the exams like the other professors do. she teaches in a way that makes hard material easy to understand and wants to see her class succeed. open note quizzes but you can use any resource!

CH 1020 is a very hard class, but Dr. Smith makes it so much more understandable. She truly cares about her students and makes this very clear. Dr. Smith did a great job teaching an intimidating class, especially for her first time teaching orgo. There are a lot of low stakes quizzes to get used to the style of questions for exams so I always felt very prepared. She has discussion boards for questions and goes over them and commonly missed questions in class. She is the reason I did well.

Dr. Smith was an amazing professor! There is no denying that CH 1010 is a tough class and she makes it very manageable. She is super nice and you can tell she cares so much about her students and especially their wellbeing. I definitely recommend her and I am signed up for her class for CH 1020!

If you put in work it is easy to get an A. Prof Smith has a never-ending supply of practice problems, lecture videos, etc posted on Canvas for you. I rarely went to class and got an A by watching lecture videos, taking notes, and doing all practice problems available. She emails back pretty fast and gives you all the support you need.

I didn't try hard enough, nor go to her class because I had an 8 am. I got a C but I def could've got an A/B if I put the effort in. I regret my choices because I believe that she gave all the resources any student would need. She does review sessions and gives you a LOT of stuff to study. By far the best teacher and I took her for granted.

I was absolutely petrified to take Organic Chemistry but Dr. Smith was literally one of the most amazing professors I've ever had. I probably asked her about a million questions and met with her every week for office hours and she was so caring and patient. Also, she explains Organic Chemistry (which is a very hard subject) so well. I LOVE HER!

Dr. Smith is literally the nicest professor I have ever met. She had us send in our pets at the beginning of the semester, and before every lecture shows us a pet of the day. :,) I just took orgo 2 with her, and it was her first semester teaching it, yet she did amazing, hosted reviews, and always had in depth solutions for us.

Lecture class may be optional, but unless your a genius go to class everyday if you want a chance at a good grade. Hard work is required.

Dr. Smith is the BEST chemistry professor at Clemson. She just started teaching Orgo this year and was already amazing. I took her for Orgo 1 & 2. She loves what she does and always is available if you have questions. She also provides an online version of textbook for free. You do not have to attend class, but it is Orgo, so I would suggest going!

Dr. Smith is the best!!!!! I highly recommend her for gen chem. She is so kind and understands that chemistry is not easy and isn't for everyone. She starts every class with a pet of the day. She gives a lot of practice problems and sets you up to succeed in the class. You do have to put in the effort, but she definitely sets you up to get an A.

She is really the best chem professor- i did so awful my first semester of chem with another prof and this semester with her i got all my confidence back. she is very clear at explaining things she is super kind and upbeat. she provides a lot of practice so you are prepared for exams. homework is very easy.

She is great at lecturing and breaking down complicated material into something you can understand. Make sure to attend her lectures, they are very helpful. For being new at teaching organic she was really awesome at it. She gives her students every resource to succeed including review sessions she hosts and office hours outside of class. she is encouraging and really cares about her students. I highly recommend Dr. Smith!

Hands down the best professor in the department. She has a clear gift for teaching that made made such a challenging class not seem so bad. Keeps lecture easy to follow by having a practice question after almost every slide. Always lets you know how much she wants you to succeed and will do anything at all to help. Couldn't recommend more.

Dr. Smith is wonderful, caring, and an excellent teacher. She provides tons of material, annotated slides, practice, and assignments so your grade is not as exam heavy. She records all of her lectures. Exams are difficult, but that's just because its chemistry. I genuinely got upset her class was full for 1020 and I couldn't have her again.

Dr. Smith is a wonderful teacher and truly cares about the wellbeing of her students. Homework is due every week or two, and there are weekly quizzes that can really make or break your grade. Lowest exam is replaced by the final if it is higher. I flat out failed the first exam but put in a lot of work on the next few and pulled off an A.

Dr. Smith has to be the best professor in the department! She's amazing at lecturing, posts all of her lectures, and makes herself available outside of class. She also hosts study sessions after class on the day of exams, which has been super helpful. She's super caring as well and always reminds her students that grades do not define them!

She is so kind and brilliant. Listen to her, take her seriously. Proton guru lectures and practice problems are the way to go. Orgo is time consuming. Don't come here and complain about hard material and your bad time management skills.

Dr. Smith was the most clear and concise lecturer for Gen chem from what i know. She offers so many recources to study, posts her lectures, and even offers more in depth video lecture to study on your own time. Quizzes and assignments are open note. Please please take her!!!

I almost got an A in the class, but she does not round grades. Orgo has a horrible reputation...but dr smith is a queen and made it so much easier and somewhat enjoyable. I sucked at gen chem and LOVED orgo cause theres zero math. shes a swiftie. sit in the front rows girlies and get ready to earn that B or A in orgo ;))))) lets go women in stem

She is AMAZING! Orgo is difficult, but she simplifies very complex topics. She is always available to help and wants you to succeed, you just have to be willing to put in a ton of effort outside of class. She hosts review sessions the day of the exam during class-each exam is worth 20% so definitely do your best!

So I alr rated her but grades came back and my so thought B got rounded to an A!! She is literally so so so amazing. Orgo is difficult so outside learning is needed. Go to lectures prepared.

She doesn't take attendance but make sure you attend every lecture or else you will quickly fall behind. Studying is important as well.

I love Dr. Smith! She is very sweet and is so approachable. There are some topics that I feel like could have been explained better but other than that I love her. There are homework and quizzes online pretty often, but they are good practice. She gives lots of study materials, and is always available to meet outside of class. Def recommend :))

Dr. Smith was incredible. Organic chemistry is a scary subject but she was able to make it more approachable. I had her for Orgo 1 as well as Orgo 2 and I enjoyed both semesters (as much as a person can enjoy organic chemistry). She gave excellent out of class practice materials and her handwritten solutions were soooo helpful!

Great professor and absolutely one of the few in Clemson that deserves a 5/5 rating. Super caring, good lectures, and it feels like you learn a lot of material without ever having the pressure that other professors put on you.

Dr. Smith is the kindest person in the chemistry department. Very clear that she cares about her students both academically and personally. She gives very clear and concise lectures that are easy to follow and also very accessible outside of class if you have any concerns or confusions. Orgo 1 and 2 are definitely the hardest classes I've taken, but I enjoy the way Smith organizes and teaches the material. She is extremely caring and provides great test prep (old exams, video explanations). She tends to get a bit more lenient on the quizzes throughout the semester. Activ homework is very helpful.

Orgo is hard enough as it is but she was able to make it better for me. Her notes are very organized and she makes it clear exactly what we need to know. Favorite chem professor by far and this is my 4th

Dr. Smith is by far my favorite professor at Clemson. It is clear she cares about her students and your success in the course. Her lectures are concise and have everything you need to know for the exam. Homework and quizzes are tough, but they are great for exam preparation.

If I could do this class again, I would do it with Dr. Smith. She is one of the most caring professors I have ever had and the students love her. Dr. Smith was a great professor who cared a lot about students well being. She provided a great online textbook for practice and detailed explanations on content. She did have weekly quizzes that weighed a lot grade wise which was unfortunate. They were open note but still very hard to do well on. Overall, she provided amazing resources.

I had her my freshman year and safe to say I wasn't having a great year. My grade is not reflective of her teaching, more of the issues in my life at the time. She was so understanding and caring, the only professer that responded to my NoA. She teaches well and will help you with anything. A wonderful teacher and an even better person.

I have a D in this class because how hard orgo is for me. Dr. Smith genuinely worked with me to do better, and there were plenty of practice materials that I could have utilized, but didn't. The exams are just like the practice exams, but one word makes all the difference, as I learned the hard way.

Dr. Smith is amazing. She has clear expectations, lots of resources, and has been teaching for a long time so knows what she's doing. I had her for both orgo 1 and 2. Taking orgo 2 in the off season with only her as the prof was super nice because she was the only one making the exams. She's accessible outside of class and is super encouraging.

If you are someone who struggles with math and formulas like there was in gen chem, this might be a much better course for you! Orgo is a lot more about pattern recognition and learning how and why things move the way they do. Dr. Smith does a good job at helping you learn the patterns and what they do! Tough course though.

Dr. Smith is very nice and does her best to make the content (which is very dense and complicated) understandable. Also breaks up the class by being silly. Very accessible. Explains things in multiple ways for those who can't visualize. Course is difficult but she really does her best to make the content clear. Will be taking her again for orgo 2.

Dr. Smith is wonderful. Sometimes her lectures are too fast, or she doesn't give any context to what she's doing, but for the most part it is very well taught. I had Delach for orgo 1 and Smith for orgo 2, and would say Smith is about as good or slightly better than Delach. She cancels class a fair amount and just does open office hours for exams.
