Very friendly and fair grader! The class itself was tough and math based but he made every effort to make it easier and understandable. I will take his other classes I guess.
He has a degree in Industrial Engineering so explaining quantitative material was easy to understand
I loved the way he taught and graded. Not that easy but helpful enough to make your grade higher. I expect B in operations analysis so I think I will wait and take operations management class next fall with him. He dresses smart too.
Awesome teacher! very helpful and understanding! I would suggest everyone take a course with him. Out of all UMass business professors I would say he is not only one of the more intelligent, but he truly knows how to teach!
His class was fairly easy, everything was open notes. Don't think that is an easy get away though, you have to know how to use the information in a problem. If you do the homework and read the book you will be fine. If you ever have any questions for the professor you need to ask him! He doesn't know what you don't understand! Great prof!
Friendly and helpful. Open book/note exams and online quizzes. Exams scaled significantly. Not wicked easy, but certainly doable.
His class is very easy to get a good grade in. Quizzes are online and you get to take them as many times as you want to get a 100. Open notes and open book mid term and final. Is willing to let you take retakes and is good at teaching. Get into his class asap before it fills up.
Great professor. He is really clear and helpful, particularly if you ask questions. The class isn't super easy, but if you put in any effort you can do OK. I would go out of my way to take another class with him.
He was a great professor. Attendance was 10% of your grade but if you answered questions it would balance out your absents. He let you use your text book, your notes, the slides, and a cheat sheet if you want on the exams. There was only 2 exams and a couple online quizzes. The homework was easy too. You should get the book.
He was a very helpful teacher. I was able to do well in his class because he would take the time after class to go over anything with me. He is funny and his turkish accent helps you keep attention. Great guy, good class.
Excellent professor! He is very knowledgeable in his field of study and if you at least try in his class you will pass. I would suggest buying the test book and reviewing slides for tests even though they were open book and open note.
The course was very informative and straight forward. He was very knowledgeable and provided good examples of problems on tests. The tests were open book/notes, but were challenging at the same time. Do all the HW and take all the quizzes and you should get an "A".
He is a very funny, but mostly helpuful professor. He makes sure everyone in the classroom understands what he is talking about. His tests are open book/notes. Assigns reasonable amount of homework. Attendence is not mandatory; however, if you attend class he gives you credit for class participation. I highly recommend him!
Great Prof. Interesting class and great teaching style. One of the best teachers I've had at UML.
It was a straight forward course but his grading technique isn't the best.He does not respond to his emails, I have sent him 2 emails concerning my final grade and have yet to get a response back.I received an 86 (w/o scale) on first exam, 90 on the final, 100 on all quizes but missed 2 hw, participated heavily in class somehow ended up with a B-
Asil knows how to keep you involved in class. He gave online quizzes at the end of each chapter. That helped me a lot. otherwise I wouldnt read the chapters :) Only thing I did not like with him he is no fun at all but he is surely a very good and enthusiastic teacher. Cares about his stundets success.
Asil is good at teaching and cares about the success of his students.Go to classes regularly and take all quizzes and exams on time you will pass for sure.
Great Professor and interesting class, easy A. I had really learn a lot of thing in this class. The Prof provide the online quiz which is quite easy. What you need to do is read the book and go over the power point. Homework is easy too but take a lot of time to do. 1 or 2 midterm exams and the final.. 10 questions for each exam...
Take Asil if you can, he is very understanding and always trying to help you out for your best interest. The homeworks sometimes can be time consumed but if you do them you will do well on test. I will take another class with him next semester. I highly recommend him.
Great prof go for him!
He's awesome. attendence isn't mandatory but you get bonus points if you do attend. class is pretty much just going over teh powerpoints. a 5 question blackboard quiz and 3-5 question homework after each chapter (only 4 chapter covered all semester) and midterm/final are open book open notes
ever best at umass. i will take operations management course with him this summer.
He's extremely helpful and knows his stuff. However, this class is VERY boring!
Asil is a great teacher and loves teaching. Clear English but funny accent. Read the syllabus cause he strictly follows it. Good looking too!
Great prof and cute boy. Very well organized, quite helpful. Always cheerful. I am taking his operations management course in summer school.
Had him for Operations Analysis. Great guy. Really funny and helpful, he listens to students and explains things clearly. One of the best professors I've had.
One of the best teachers I've had here at uml.he cares about his student and wants you to succeed. His. CLasses were fun to go to..open book open notes test midterm and final. If you out the effort in it you will get an A.
My favorite teacher at UML hands down . The only class I actually wanted to attend on a weekly basis. Asil makes coming to class fun, that doesnt mean the class is a joke because it is difficult, but he does an awesome job keeping his students engaged in the lectures with humor and class participation.
Great guy, got me into operations. Take his class.
Such a funny guy! Homework and the midterm were easy, final was alot more complicated. But I signed up for another class with him. Great teaacher, and I highly recommend him!
Loved the way he taught this tough course. Thanks Asil. I'll see you next semester in operations management :)
I took operations analysis and operations management with him. just one word he's awesome!
By far one of the better professors at UML. Material can be hard at times but listen and follow his examples and you will succeed. I took both Operations analysis and Operations management, would definitely take another class with in. Highly Recommend.
Really nice guy, I would definitely recommend taking a class with him. Outgoing and knowledgeable, Asil brings a lot to the table as a professor, I wish he taught more classes!
Even though class was 3 hrs long,he was very helpful and kept everyone awake! He was very helpful and definitely would get out of his way to help his students. He has a unique teaching style that makes learning a fun and exciting experience with little or no pressure as long as you put in the effort. I Definitely recommend taking any of his courses
Summer 2012 Operations Management 36.371 Great Professor, always asked if we had questions and would answer them to the best of his ability. No homework! Questions on exams are based on the book!
Really great guy! go for him.
I took his class online. His video lectures are so helpful and clear as he himself is. The course project takes a lot of time so start early and form a good team. 30% from this project towards the grade! Overall good class friendly prof.
He has great videos for each chapter he covers. Very friendly and helpful guy. No homework at all. All exams are online with two or three attempts given and there is no homework! I'd take another class with Asil again.
He does a great job of making sure you know the material. He is very accessible if you have questions! The project is a lot of work and you should start early!!! Do not waste time. The class goes quickly with a lot to do each week, which is expected at this level.
Extremely helpful and knowledgeable prof. Well organized too! In the course project he is very demanding..
Extremely helpful and supportive. Our group had problems with the course project and the prof. helped us a lot. Though I took an online class, I could actually meet him on campus for a couple of times to get his suggestions on the project. He is an young and friendly guy. You will love his class
Sincere professor who is genuinely interested in students' learning. Very patient and friendly guy. Great guy to work with personally and professionally.
Great Prof and class. Very helpful and you will learn an interesting and useful business technique (data minig).
Worse prof ever. Gives stupid quizes that involves a lot of calculations and expect u to finish in ten minutes. Test u on how fast u are not what u know. Just go over slides in class. Final was too long. Some of the questions on the final were full exam problem but were only wealth 1 pt. Thank God I got through this class.
Dr. Oztekin is easily the best professor at the Manning School of Business. He is extremely intelligent and knowledgeable in his field. He is great at teaching and is a fun/entertaining guy to be in a class with. The course project (honors class) was difficult but sincerely taught me a lot and I am very glad I did it. HIGHLY recommended professor!
Great teacher ever!
I took this class online with prof asil and learned a lot. He has videolectures captured talking about each chapter even about his syllabus. Although it was an online course I felt like I was taking it in person on campus with his videos.
Dr. Asil is awesome!! Very smart guy and he's very helpful. His expectations are CRYSTAL CLEAR (he has you read and sign the syllabus the 1st day of class). If you participate and are sincere in your efforts, you'll have no problems in his class. You'll learn a lot in the class. I highly recommend. Oh, and don't miss any deadlines!!
Prof. Oztekin was fantastic. His course videos were extremely helpful. To that, add his terrific notes and slides, and the learning process was awesome! We had to do a class project on data mining that was extremely helpful and helped us learn. The only downside was that there was a lot to do within a short period of time. Awesome professor!
Very systematic guy. No homework but a huge course project. I enjoyed the class and would take another class with him.
Professor Oztekin is knowledgeable and doing great in lecturing. He is friendly, approachable and full of sense of humor. Although a 10-min quiz is challenging, overall the course is easy and interesting. Highly recommend.
Dr Oztekin`s course was an interesting course I will ever remain to remember as I learnt a lot from this class. He was always prepared to answer questions raised by students. His clarity was excellent and encourage him to continue his job.
Thanks professor for a great semester. I have leared a lot. I am grateful to your patience and knowledge that you conveyed to the student. You did a great work this semester. Thanks again.
I love this professor. He taught the materials really clear and interesting. I would like to take another class with him. Im so recommend to take this professor to teach Operation Management. He literally capable and know well about operation.
Term paper is very relevant what you will need in the work life
He scale, but definitely not an easy class. one problem can take up an entire class and an entire board. As someone else mentioned, his quiz are time..so good luck if you're the kind of person who needs a little more than 10-15 minutes to do the quiz. Exams are open notes, but still hard. Even the seemingly smart kids took 3 hours for the exam.
Raves about how he is the best. Scaled me up maybe 1 point. Exams are challenging even though they are open book. He can be rude when answering questions.
Good Professor, Straight forward instructions. If followed correctly should receive a good grade! Tests follow the textbook and course project is large part of grade.
Very dedicated teacher! I loved him so much and would definitely take his next class operations management. The only downside he doesn't want students to whisper or textmessage while he is lecturing.
Dr. Oztekin has got to be one of the best professors in MSB. Really cares about his students and wants them to do well. His expectations are CRYSTAL clear. Just do your part and meet the deadlines, go to class, and seek his help when needed. If you are sincere in your efforts in his class, you'll get a good grade for sure.
Expectations are clear. Didn't buy textbook, just watched all lectures and read his notes and got an A. Good guy. Need to know material though as tests have only a minute or two per question and many often involve several calculations. Questions are straightforward though, if you watched the lecture you should know them. Set up formula spreadsheet.
Very nice: allows several attempts to Quizzes. But beware, he wont tell you how much you need to get an A. He will curve class grades even if you got 98% in all exams & quizzes and did your best class participation. So if you want an A you have to score 100% on all tests and weekly quizzes. Exams are very demanding, but having retakes makes it OK.
Very tough subject, but he is well-versed in the topics pertaining to business statistics. Strongly encourages you to participate and if you miss more than 3 classes you will fail, only because you do miss a lot because he can pack in a whole chapter within a class, but he does it quite well.
Professor Oztekin is hands down the best Professor at UML. He actually wants you to learn and is very passonite about his teaching. Go to class everyday and listen to him teach there is no reason you should have any trouble in a subject that can be tough! All around great Professor. He is also my advisor and a great guy. UML is lucky to have him!
Teaches really well, made the information easy to digest and he'll continue explaining if you don't understand. A lot of topics get covered in class and he'll reduce your grade for missing class. Tests and quizzes done online usually have at least 2 tries. He curves your grade by class ranking so you don't really know what your grade will be.
Good teacher. Passionate in the subject. Pay attention in class and you will do fine. Only quizzes and tests, no homework. Overall, a fairly easy class but you will learn lots.
He's okay. Not as incredible as others on here make him out to be. He teaches the material well but I don't recommend asking him questions. Many have tried, including myself, and it doesn't help clarify anything. He means well but can be a little rough around the edges. He has insulted my friends numerous times in front of the class.
Beware of the curve!! If you are a high-performing student, do not take a class with him. Regardless of how you perform, he curves the grades to fit the bell curve. This means 68% of the class will receive C's. Although my assignments earned me a final grade of a 95, my grade was reduced to an A-.
This class is not to be taken lightly. Professor Asil will challenge you and make you work for your grade. Pay attention to the supplemental readings that the professor recommends, they will help enormously. Group projects are very important in this class, start them early and work on them diligently. Theres a lot to be learned in this class!
Professor Oztekin is a really nice guy who sincerelywants his students to succeed. His Decision Analytics class, a core course of the Business Analytics program, covers a lot of valuable material. Be sure to devote much time to the semester group project - you'll learn lots and possibly be chosen to participate in a nation-wide analytics challenge!
A lot of information here so Decision Analytics moves fast, but the pace isn't overwhelming. He does a great job of adding real examples that give context and bringing in industry speakers. Tests were straightforward and the topics he covers at length in class are things that will be on the test. Prof cares deeply about students success - great guy
POMS6220 Decision Analytics Hardly covers anything in class, most of the chapters are self study. Tough exams Book is very dense, slides are not good, maybe lot to learn if you have time to self study and understand everything on your own
I particularly liked the way Prof. delivers his lecture, he puts a lot of emphasis on current trends and encourages his students to be market-ready by pushing his students to always give their best. Decision Analytics is a tough subject and you need to put in a lot of self-effort. However, he should spend more time covering all topics in class.
good interactive lectures, real learning during the lectures.
I'm studying the Master of Business Analytics where one of the major course's is Decision Analytics with professor Oztekin. I'm delighted that I choose this and would recommend it to everybody. UMass Lowell is great University. Highly recommended!
A very straightforward class. A midterm, and a final. A multi-week project. Simple enough. Does use the textbook for weekly discussions.
Provides a clear understanding of the course content and expectations. Some quizzes and tests, to go along with a group project.
Asil is a Professor you want in your academic & professional network, because HE wants to be involved in your future. His cirriculum and teaching methods prioritize your career and development. Asil is patient and understanding, he granted me incomplete status when times were very tough and I was able to finish with a B. Highly recommend.
Easy class. Quizzes and Tests are online. Lectures are very long and boring though. Give bonus points if you participate. No homework
Great Professor but can be unclear at times. All assignments are online but participation matters. Overall pretty easy class.
Great class overall. There is a lot of work in this class but the grading is fair and the amount you learn is great. As long as you put in the work you will do well.
Took the MBA Decision Analytics course with professor Oztekin, and it was a very interesting course that I learned a lot in. I completed my undergraduate studies at UML as well, and he is one of the best professors I had at the university. He is very helpful and truly cares about his students' success. Signed up for another one of his classes.
I took Decision Analytics online with Professor Oztekin. The course is laid out well and the quizzes help to prepare for exams. He is responsive to emails outside of class and will put in the extra time to help. You can tell he cares about the students' success and wants to be involved. I would definitely take another course with Professor Oztekin.
No homework but recommend brushing up on stats (prob & lin Reg). You are graded on 1 quiz/chapter, a midterm, a final,(all online) and in-class participation. You should try to snag as many bonus points as you can. Don't buy the book, ppt slides are enough. Print and bring them to class. Not a tough class if you take note during lecture and study
Professor Oztekin is a really great guy who is highly informative and knows the material exceedingly well. Learning in his class is easier due to this and he cares how students take the materials in. I would highly recommend his courses.
Hes a man of his words. He teaches how to face the real world problems with data analytics. I learned a good deal from him. You should take your chances
Very funny, smart, respected professor. Cannot skip more than 6 classes. Course Project is main aspect of entire class. Presentation at Symposium is intimidating but is fun important experience. Highly Recommend. This class and project got me a job after graduation.
Professor Oztekin is one of the nicest professors I ever had. He made everything so clear with his lectures and anything I needed help with or had questions, he was willing to help me anytime! His office hours are the best times to ask any sort of questions. If you show up to class, ask questions, and do the work, then you will get a good grade!
The class for operation management was a tough one, but full of information. Be prepared for long lectures as most were 3+ hours long each week. However, the lectures themselves were very informative. I would recommend this professor to anyone looking to take one of his classes.
This was hands-down one of my favorite classes of my MBA and influenced the direction I want to take my career. Prof. Oztekin helped a lot with questions I had when building my course project and chat hours helped to reinforce any topics I had trouble with. I highly recommend him and this class to anyone interested in data analytics.
Do not hesitate choosing Prof Oztekin. He is an an outstanding professor who genuinely cares for his students. The lecture notes he provides are super helpful and he does a great job explaining the concepts. He is always accessible outside of class and wants everyone to succeed. Thoroughly enjoyed my time in his class!
Great professor , very friendly and approachable.
Thank you for teaching the Decision Analytics. I learned a lot from you on how to efficiently analyze data. I am looking forward to attend another class with you. This class is one of the most interesting classes that I have ever taken. The lecture notes are pretty well organized and quizzes are doable
10/10 would reccomend this class.
Great class, highly recommend! There is a weekly quiz and discussion posts, a mid-term, and final exam. If you take advantage of everything Professor Oztekin offers, the class will be easy. He provides a lecture video (they are quite quite, but go into detail about how to solve problems), lecture notes, and the slides from the video.
Hes an above average professor. Not boring, not amazing but he teaches you the material decently well. Has a set of slides for each of the chapter that are very helpful for the two exams and 4-5 quizzes. No homework but attendance /participation are very important to him. Also read the textbook and do practice problems at end of chapter.
I didn't like this class. He issued reading, notes, videos, and slides and they were ALL the same. Pick one way and skip the rest. His videos are long, old, and stink. He reads the book to you and transitions slides with "OK!" Good for driving. Wish he created some material. Chegg explained problems more! Do the math in the quizzes for final prep.
Prof. Asil is an amazing individual with a very deep knowledge of operations management. His materials and video lectures are very helpful and provide very detailed and helped me gain knowledge of the subject. He also provides various industry practices during the lectures that are super helpful.
Professor had video lectures which were easy to follow and the math was explained well in his lectures. Then he gave practice problems to affirm the learnings. His quizzes and exams can be taken twice, and best grade is kept.
Cares about work life balance and acknowledges that second chances are a norm in your daily life, reflecting that in his class.
I would like to thank Professor Oztekin. He is an awesome teacher. I would again take his classes for my future courses too. His detailed lecture videos, and comprehensive lecture notes are easy to understand. His course material and teaching approach is excellent. Thanks Professor Oztekin.
I took this course online during the spring of 2021 as an honors course. His accent makes it very challenging to understand at times. There is a huge project due at the end of the semester and he share the rubric until right before it is due. The course itself is quite easy, but I don't feel I learned as much as I wish I had.
The best part of this online class with Professor Oztekin was that he provided detailed lectures that had been prerecorded. This helped a great deal!
Professor Oztekin is a knowledgeable and great mentor. His classes are informative, engaging, and fun. He cares about the advancements of students. His class project is interesting and fun to work on. I would take his class again if given a choice!
Professor Asil is an amazing teacher. I could not ask for more support. He gave his best to see students advance. The classes were informative, engaging, and fun. I enjoyed learning so many new concepts in his class and he made it as understandable as possible. I thoroughly enjoyed working on the course project for this class.
Dr. Oztekin has been really helpful throughout the semester. He simplifies tough concepts through his lecture videos for the students. He encourages students to participate in group projects which I highly recommend as this gives students great insights into working with real data! I personally have learned a lot in this class-I highly recommend it
Professor Oztekin went above and beyond for this online course by creating video lectures which break down course concepts in a more understandable and enjoyable way than my simply reading textbook material or notes.
Attending this class made me realize how amazing other professors are. There was no project, no group work, no stimulating papers, no real-time examples, nothing worth an MBA program. The once-a-week chat session is done in a no-audio format where you have to type your questions and do not experience any dialogue with your professor or classmates.
Easy A as long as you put in the time for each week's assignments.
do NOT take this professor. His exams and quizzes don't relate back to his notes, and the way he phrases questions can be confusing. Yes he gives two attempts, but don't do it. His videos are him reading the slides and chats are just typing in questions. He also gave a midterm and quiz the same week. Stay away
Asil is a highly experienced and knowledgeable professor in the domain of Structural Equation Modeling. He excels at connecting with top-notch researchers in the field to bring the latest, state-of-the-art scientific developments to the classroom, which is greatly admired and appreciated.
Prof. Oztekin is incredibly knowledgeable in the field of decision science and related methods. Course content was comprehensive, providing an excellent foundation for understanding prevalent methods in analyzing structural relationships. I also get connected with advanced scholars in the field, fostering a network of invaluable connections.
Taking POMS.7100 Predictive Modeling & Causal Analytics with Professor Oztekin was an exceptional and transformative experience. Prof. Oztekin's captivating teaching style made the most complex concepts accessible and enjoyable, cultivating a stimulating learning atmosphere. I recommend POMS.7100 for in-depth Ph.D.-level educational experience.
Online class was great. Referenced a lot of the book, his online videos help a lot. overall great class
I don't recommend this class. It's all reading comprehension, nothing else. You read the textbook, take a quiz, get a bunch of trick questions, and that's it. This doesn't feel like a graduate course at all. Lots of the questions don't even really pertain to the subject matter, it's just "did you read the chapter?" type stuff. Look elsewhere.
Very flexible class style and freedom to go relatively at your own pace. Lots of future career support and resources. This is definitely a class that you get out what you put in. If you just want a good grade, you absolutely can accomplish without too much trouble, but if you really want to LEARN then the sky is the limit.
Professor Oztekin is a great who treats every student with respect and goes an extra-mile to help his students. He gave a lecture on Data Analytics which was purely for educational purposes even though that was not to be in the exam. This was to introduce us to the newer tech. I look forward to learning further courses from him in the future, too.
Prof. Asil has detailed conceptual knowledge about the decision analysis subject. The course changed the way I think about the data and what we can do with it. Thank you for your mentorship. The time and energy you spent helping me.
If your looking for an easy A get your reading comprehension ready.... because thats all this guy asks of you. The entire course is quizzes and tests that rip sentences right out of the textbook in multiple choice format. I did not takeaway anything from this class. The textbook is simply not good and the professor did not provide much else.
The professor is very good - but the subject is very difficult. It's operations with statistics, graduate level, for MBA degree - so it's not supposed to be easy by any means. Every week there are very hard quizzes (10 questions each), and then two exams (50 questions each). There is limited time, and some of the hardest questions are the T/F ones.
Gives long and old notes/videos only to base quizzes/exams on the "optional" book, and some answers can't be found in the current edition. Lectures explain concepts well, but they alone aren't 100% helpful with test preparation. It's a shame, too, because he really is a great guy who cares about students. I just wish his class was up-to-date.
Expectations in this course were very clear. 95% of grade is Quizes and Exams. An electronic copy of the book is essential. Quizes and exams are mostly exercises in CTRL+F and finding the term in the book. The calculation problems require a good understanding of the concepts. Do the practice problems provided in the book and you should do well.
Prof. Asil is very caring and works with each student individually. His lectures are easy to understand, and if you have any questions, he will teach you until you understand.
Great professor with great communication and excellent curriculum.
This professor was very responsive and provided very nice lecture notes. The Operations Management course was a little difficult for me at first, but when I asked the professor questions, he gave me detailed explanations and I was able to understand the course. I am very grateful. Thank you.
His recorded lectures and weekly notes are not only interesting but help prepare you for the weekly quizzes. A textbook is recommended but not required. He is available for chat every week if you have questions and cares about his students. As long as you follow directions every week there is no reason to not do well in this class.
His passion for this topic made it easier to understand and want to learn about a topic I wasn't so sure about. There are weekly quizzes/tests which gives someone like me anxiety. As long as you read and watch the study materials he provides every week there is no way you can fail. I have to say this is one of the better classes I've had so far!
Dr. Oztekin is clearly passionate about the subject matter. He explains everything you need to know in his prerecorded lectures, which are quite long, but valuable. He is also very accessible, and he encourages critical thinking. The textbook is optional, but I found it helpful for the practice problems, as this course is pretty math intensive.
Overall he's very good. I agree that his class could use some updating, but it's still doable. What I didn't like was how all quizzes and exams were based on the book, even though the book was optional. I find classes that do that very hard to take seriously. I'd suggest looking elsewhere if that bothers you too, but if you get him, you'll do fine.
This was my second class with Prof. Oztekin as part of MBA studies. This class was just as interesting and engaging - with a combination of lectures, textbooks, online discussions, and opportunity for an extra credit in the form of a complex project. Quizzes and exams have some tricky questions for sure, but should not be hard if you read materials
Professor Oztekin is excellent! His notes and video lectures are clear, well-organized, and filled with real-world examples that simplify analytics problems with balanced course material and quizzes are straightforward, helping greatly with mid-terms and finals. His teaching style makes the class engaging and informative, must-take course.
Through all of my years of education I can honestly say that Dr. Oztekin is one of the best educators that I have ever learned from. His lectures prepared me well for the test and to pass the class. Not only that, he really took you on a deep journey of operations that I can say I am already applying to my day to day in my career.
The directions were straight forward with respect to building interactions. The content here was based on any topic from the chapter and we would expand on it with personal experience. The weekly content took the form of slideshows, a document style summary, and video. Something there for every learner.
Dr. Asil Oztekin is knowledgeable and truly inspiring. He encourages students to tackle real-world business problems and is always available to answer questions in detail. The Quizzes and weekly Discussions are based on the book. Overall it was a great class.
Professor Oztekin was very kind and cheered for our learning journey. Materials were clear and easy to understand. One concern is the course materials haven't been updated overall. For example, the edition of the assigned textbook is old compared to the latest version. It would be helpful if the need for updates could be reviewed periodically.
Prof. Asil is passionate and caring. The lectures are informative, and he's responsive to questions. While the textbook is optional, I found it helpful for the math-heavy content. Unstuck study also proved to be a useful study tool alongside the provided materials.
Nice prof, but did not respond to questions quickly at all. First class in new Canvas learning and there were many mistakes in grading and materials. 2 exams accounted for 70% of the grade, however, allowed 2 attempts per assignment. Material is a bit long and dry, but rewarding if you work hard.
Great professor and very easy class. 95% of grade is multiple choice quizes/exams, which are straight out of the text or lecture notes. Remaining 5% is a weekly discussion board. Easy A and you will learn a lot if you put in the effort.
This online class was structured very well, with an easy to follow syllabus. Students should be prepared for 3-4 hours of prerecorded lecture per week. The lectures are very well done and informative but student's should budget their time accordingly. I enjoyed the class very much.
He is very knowledgable and his passion shows. However he is pretty far removed from the class & you are left to learn a lot on your own. There are 2-4 hours of prerecorded lectures a week, 1 quiz, & 1 discussion post a week. 1 midterm & 1 final. He gives 2 chances at the midterm/final & quizzes. I would have liked more feedback and engagement.
