Mrs. Said is one of the best professors I've had. I started w/no interest in physics but left contemplating going into science. Her lectures are clear, she takes the time to explain new concepts, and she's always available for help. Whether you're taking this course as a requirement or for your major, I highly recommend Professor Said.
She is a wonderful professor, one of the best I've had. This professor actually cares about her students and absolutely loves her work and the subject matter. She changed the way I see the world through physics. I absolutely recommend her if you are really interested in learning and applying yourself to the subject matter.
Passonate about the content. Very Helpful. Very Difficult Tests.Accent can confuse. Half the class is done online with the horrible masteringphysics.com service. This will impose you to pay about $50 to simply access and turn it homework and quizes. (DOES NOT INCLUDE E-BOOK). Class average on our recent midterm was an F!!!
Not easy. Very hard class. She is not at all helpful. I asked her about a question I got wrong on the test and her response was that a lot of other people got that right. Her accent is hard to understand and she doesn't always stay on topic in lectures. Most of the students I've talked to in the class feel the same way.

I was surprised to see this professor with a low score, I believe she is a great teacher who really has a passion for not only her work, but sharing her career with the world. I think since it's a popular and low level science class she may get a bad wrap cause people are idiots and rate her down, I enjoyed her class thoroughly.
She's very helpful (really approachable) but super disorganized and her lectures can be confusing at times. If you need a clear to the point lecture, she's not for you.
She can`t even explain simple concepts because she does not know the material well. she memorizes the solutions out of the book and can`t even get them right on the board! And yes, too many algebra mistakes in one problem!!!

I took her physics class at SCC. Sure, she may have an accent but she really cares about her students. Unlike a lot of teachers, she'll adjust her teaching style to ensure her students understand the material. A teacher that uses her tests as resources rather than strictly grade indications, is a great teacher in my opinion.

Professor Asma is definitely one of the best teachers I ever met in Santa Monica College. She gives students a lot of extra credit works which help student to be more participated. She does care for her students. Make sure you review every lecture and the study guide, then you will definitely get A
Anyone who claimed that she wasn't helpful was probably never asking questions or participating in class. She will pause the whole class to reexplain something if you didn't understand it in the first place. She's a very kind teacher and is pretty funny. Make sure you attend every class and not miss out on labs, quizzes, home works, etc.

Professor Said is a great teacher. Her tests come directly from her lectures and she covers all the material in review sections. She goes out of her way to help students and ensure their success. She also provides many extra credit opportunities. Overall, a great teacher who truly cares about her students.
She's as good a teacher as you can expect from the science department. She isn't the best at explaining the material with simplicity or depth, but I think she gets the job done at the end of the day. On a somewhat positive note, her teaching style encourages a lot of self/independent learning and group study, which are skills that we all need.

Pretty good teacher at presenting the information and making sure you know what you need to know for the test. Labs are pretty fun and time passes fairly quickly. The tests are somewhat a good reflection of the lessons.

As a college-level teacher she still has room to grow, her tests: very challenging, often had mistakes, focused on one subject too much and were NOT reflective of her lessons,the study guide she provides OR the text book. Given the broad range of material covered you'd do well to study immensely and pray that what you studied ends up on the test

Professor Said can be hard to follow at times, but she will go through fire and brimstone to make you understand. She also comes with a tint of humour that we can all enjoy.
I took her class at SCC. She said it was her first time teaching this course so that is why everything seemed a little more complicated than they really were. Since she is not a hard grader I recommend her. She will help you if you ask. I used the book for some clarification.

Great conceptual, basic-math introduction to physics. Prof. Said is kind, fair, and knowledgeable, but disorganized. Routinely asks for assignment scores (labs, quizzes, homework) to be re-input into her system, so DON'T THROW THEM AWAY!! Attendance is essential, since it's worth 5% of your grade. Textbook is actually pretty nice. Worth reading.
One of the best professors I have ever had. Made physics something I could get through because I have no aptitude for science. Also an extremely understanding professor and very humble. Take the class!

Rather than doing things the hard way she seems to make it easier on everyone. I not saying she is the perfect teacher however she does seem to be interested in helping if she can. Her clarity is not always great but everything else more than makes it for it. Overall she is like a 9 out of 10.
Although the class was difficult for me I did learn a lot. Ms. Said's has a very thick accent and although it is sometimes difficult to understand her the material is very interesting. I would recommend this class to people who already love physics, its a hard class if your just trying to complete a credit

Professor Said has a wonderful sense of humor and you can tell she loves Physics. The thing I liked most is that she is very approachable and is very patient in answering student's questions.
She is Super helpful.she does her best to make things crystal clear in her lecture. here is her famous quote in our class " I don't want to take off points from you,I don't want you to lose points, your like my own children ".but of course she is not a baby sitter;). BTW she is super fast in answering emails.

She does not help us during office hour. Participation points are unclear where they come from. Exam is pretty hard but if you take notes. You will be fine
She is very nice. As a instructor who distribute the grade into different sections like participation, quiz, homework, tests,she does want students to achieve good grade. She is very patient to students and try to answer any question in the class.But the test (especially the multiple choices)are not easy and somehow tricky. Recommend to take her!
The professor is super super nice. She will help you and explain to you until you fully understand. She has a passion for teaching, so the class is mostly exciting. The grading is kinda hard. She doesn't grade you on the amount you try, she solely grades you on what you get. There are extra credits. If you want to understand physics, take her.

She is very help and invest a lot of time in help her students to understand the subject matter, I highly recommend her.
The class is easy enough, and Professor Said is willing to explain topics repeatedly so no one should fail her class. The only real issue I had with Professor Said's class is she gives quizzes on topics covered in the class on the same day.
She's definitely nice and willing to help. My one complaint is the fact that she gives quizzes on topics the same day they were introduced in class. That aside no one should fail this class.
She is willing to help her students, and really want them to succeed. text book is not mandatory, so maybe you can save some money since you can borrow it from the library.
Nice teacher
She is a very nice professor, cute and patient. It is not hard to earn an A as long as you spend some quality time with it. There is only one shortcoming: Few of the questions on the exam are not covered in lecture, more specifically, in the multiple choices. You need to read the text book in order to get them all right. The exams are challenging because there were a lot of problems. Lectures were good and she is nice. Extra credits helped a lot.
Doesn't explain well. Will say something in class but not explain it fully. You have to practice the math on your own as she shows you how to do it then you're on your own. Has to be more succinct in her explanations, but she has the potential to become much better.

You get used to her thick accent quickly, but her CONSTANT haranguing of students speech or where they sit, is similar to that of a preschool teacher. There are way too many interruptions involved with the micromanagement of her students. Material presented in class and text is inconsistent with exams. Extra resources are recommended to understand.

I chose easiness to be 1 is because if you don't know the material already, this class is very challenging. But if you know most of the thing, you'll be OK. The MAJOR problem of this professor is that she DOESN'T make the homework/test herself. She has no idea of what will be pop up in front of the poor you. That's it.
Very nice person, not a very good teacher. Her tests don't match up with the work she goes over in class. Go to her office hour and you'll pass but don't expect an A unless you already understand all the material before taking the class.
This class is not challenging at all because there is no way to challenge. You will never get too much assignment allowed to improve yourself. Each time there are only 15 (sometimes only four) questions drawn directly from online. So you cannot improve yourself. If you don't do well on your first exam, you won't succeed on the latter either.
Professor Said is a nice and very helpful teacher. Although her exams are kinda difficult, she gives out A LOT of extra credit and other grade boosters (like dropping the lowest HW, lab, and quiz scores. I would not recommend her to international students cause it's often hard to understand her. I am considering taking her again for Physics 21.

Felt like I was in high school. Wants u 2 know err body in the class so she random pairs u up with ppl. Most of class time is spent solving problems rather than understanding the physics concept behind it. Testquizzes based off book. Online hw is a waste of $. Highly unorganized and makes many errors. Physicsengineering majors should avoid.
Online H.W. - not useful & helpful at all!!! - Cant check where was wrong bc sometimes it doesnt allow to reopen. She will print you some context of the book, but highly suggest to buy one just for doing questions. (Hers not enough). Try 12e and instructor solution manual--dont bother which edition (basically not much diff). (characters limit!)
The best part of the class is the SI session which is given by SI leader
She inconsistently uses multiple websites for assignments and labs while not even following her own syllabus's rules on homework. "Homework turned in after class on the due date will be deducted 10%." Yet, when homework is turned 8 hours before class it earns no credit. I can't tell what to expect from this professor and I would drop it if I could.

Let me start with she is a very nice and caring person. If this was about her as a person she would get a 5. Unfortunately her lectures hardly cover anything in the tests or homework. If you want to do well YOU WILL HAVE TO TEACH YOURSELF. Disorganized. Very harsh grader on open answer questions. She will ruin your gpa if you're not careful.

Wow. I have graduated from a four year university and have been taking pre requisites for vet school for last year and a half, and this is the worst teacher/professor I have ever had. Gives F's on in class participations, does not explain concepts at all, rolls eyes when asked questions, does not teach test material, lots of time and money wasted.
First off, like others have said, she is an amazing person. She definitely cares about her students and is very personable and approachable. As for her teaching, it is absolutely awful. She goes very fast in lecture and doesn't explain well. She makes u buy online hw for $65 which we only used 4 times. Labs and classes are completely disorganized.
Wonderful person in general, you can see that she does care about everyone. That being said it's painfully obvious that she is out of touch with how students learn. Very tough grader, gave us constant reminders that the material we were learning was "so easy". Very low test score averages throughout the entire semester.
She is a solid teacher if you pay attention and ask questions. Physics is a hard subject and you need to do practice outside the classroom. Go to office hours it is very helpful. Very generous on grading tests!
She is super nice and kind. The only problem is the lectures are confusing and she mostly rush through things. Homeworks are online and you can google the answers. She doesn't drop any of the exams. She is a generous grader and really nice. However, if you decide to take her class get ready to read. You have to teach yourself.
The exams and quizzes are really easy as long as you pay attention. The homework more like busywork and it does not help that chapters assigned for homework are disorganized. It physics so it will be difficult no matter who you take.
She is a very sweet and caring woman. She does show how much she wants students to understand the topic, however her lectures are very fast and sometimes skips from one thing to another. She does provide a study guide for each test with what questions to expect, but sometimes there were problems we had never done in class. Read and ask questions.

Lecture moves quickly, So be prepared. Can be hard to keep up at times. The class and subject matter seems rushed. I feel like the essential things to know are grazed over in lecture. If you need extra help try to be specific with your questions.
Very difficult to learn if you've never taken physics before. Concepts not explained clearly, tests very difficult, participation assignments graded severely, lots of deriving and equation work without any explation or math review, if you don't already understand physics, I wouldn't take this course.
She is a lovely and cares about her students. I think having homework on a more consistent basis would have been helpful. She gave lots of chances to make up points on tests we did not do well on. She is so bright and well versed in physics that I think she sometimes skips small steps in explaining things, not realizing we are not all that quick.
Really nice person, you can tell she cares about her students. Difficult class if you haven't taken physics before since she goes at a fast pace. If i could take it over I would read the chapters before coming to class since otherwise you will be lost during lecture. possible to do well but not if you have more than 1 hard class. go to office hours

She is kind and awesome. It is the most enjoyable class I have taken in this semester. Advice: Be careful the last several chapters, because she might only test you the last several chapters during the final, but you would only spend about 4 classes on those chapters, which is means you have to work hard out side the class.
This class feel like a high school class. The professor is constantly changing her mind about due dates, labs and participation. The grading is very harsh as it seems like she skims over tests labs and quizes. She spends most of the class time deriving an equation you don't even need and then tests you on material she barely even covers.

To get credit for the in-class assignments you need to be there, and since there are so many (10-13),just showing up and doing them is a huge chunk of the grade. 3-4 exams, mostly multiple choice. Barely any hw, so you need to review outside of class. Mostly organized, caring and don't be afraid to ask her to re-explain things. An A is possible.

Is unwilling to work with students to bring grade up or make sure they're absorbing the material.
Probably the worst professor I have ever had. SMC is such a great school - why would it incorporate in its faculty someone so incompetent, lazy, disorganized, and outright useless? I would never want to have someone lose their livelihood over a moderate degree of incompetence, but this woman literally has no clue as to how to teach physics.
This class is like some sort of sick jeopardy game. We were told not to purchase a text book, the questions include things such as "Which has more skin- an elephant or a mouse?" The answer is the mouse. OK. We are given many physics questions formed through convoluted hypothetical questions, and we were not taught equations. A true guessing game.
Took this class thinking I'd enjoy learning about smth as immensely interesting as physics - a subject which attempts to explain the mysterious workings of nature. Boy, was I disappointed when I discovered how awful the professor is at everything. Not sure how she's been getting away with being so bad, but someone really needs to check her.
Professor Said is by far the worst science professor I've had at SMC. Never in my academic career have I had a professor who is so vague, lost and unprofessional.I sorta feel bad writing this review but at the same time, she's so bad, there aren't enough characters in this post to describe how horrible she is. Please take my advice and stay away!!!
Just wanted to drop by & say that this is the laziest, most uninspiring teacher I've ever had to endure @ any academic institution. Her thick accent doesn't make things better either. She doesn't know how to properly use Canvas yet still insists on using it &, FYI, all her "investigations" are stolen from another teacher w/ keys available online.
This was a tough 6 week summer course due to the advanced level of physics we learned. Professor Said is a very kind and caring professor; however, the class is a very disorganized as are the notes so it is difficult to follow. We studied non stop in order to do well. You need to put in double the effort due to a lot of confusion in class.

This professor is horrible. She never taught real stuff but test on you. Her test is different than her lecture. And she barely explained concept. Most of my classmates all have complain about her. She seems doesnt have a good memory which she always changed her mind in class. I am so regretting to take her class.
DO NOT TAKE. I have never before witnessed a class struggle so much collectively despite studying hard. Her notes are disorganized, her exams and quizzes are hard. She assign practice problems and homework which can be extremely time consuming and only sometimes will the problems show up on tests. There were a lot of curve balls in her class.
Her class is pretty straightforward! She's accessible and given you ask her questions, she will let you know what to study for her exams. None of the questions were surprises and she gives out a WHOLE LOT of extra credit (20+ extra credit for most exams). You have to work hard like any other class and the homework and resources she provided help!!
Worst professor ever, please do not take specially when its online. She just seeks her own comfort as she will just use the sites that she likes for quizzes and those websites the crooked as hell. If you wanna understand physics please dont take her
