Will review exactly type of questions on test in class.

Excellent professor.
I was shocked by the amount of examples he went through during the course. Theory can only get one so far. Definentaly an excellent teacher!
Knows what students aren't capable of, & doesn't expect hard. Tests: 8 questions, you pick 5 to do. Grading: show a understanding, effort, not if answer right- GREAT!. Goes over problems. Sense of humor, gets off topic. Take him if you can!
Tough class if you have never taken Calc before. It seems that most of the people that did well in the class had taken Calc in highschool. Beware he does not give any partial credit on tests and does not curve.
Recommended
If you have never taken calc before... this is not the professor for you. He is hard to understand, and never slows down for the rest of us, who think greek letters and numbers should NOT coexist. I got a C-, but that was by the grace of God and some serious ass kissing.
Mathematics where greek letters and numbers don't coexist is called arithmetic. Get a clue. Anyways, smart and funny man, OK teacher, easy tests.
Only take his class in the summer otherwise you will not be able to take anymore than six weeks of this guy teaching so you'll end up dropping it. He has easy short tests with few questions. Keep track of your own grade because he never uses blackboard. He often goes on random tangents. Overall its an OK class
he is a wonderful professor I got a A+ in his class. I'm not saying he's wonderful because of that. The review we do in class is what you get on the exam. You get 8 questions and you pick 5 out of them.If you can take him for all your math classes do so cause he is just great. Highly recommended
Very good professor, he's pretty passionate about what he does, and his tests are really straight foward. if you understand the material, you'll be fine. he doesn't try to trick you with weird math problems like most other math teachers
He is the best teacher I ever had, and I took a lot( senior now) I have learned more in his class than over the 2 years in high school. I wish I had more professors like him. Smart, helpful with sense of humor. I enjoyed this class very much
This teacher was overall excellent. He teaches very straight forward and is always willing to help. If possible take his class, it also helps that he has a great sense of hummor.
Possibly one of the the worst professors I have ever taken! I did everything I could to succeed in this class. I went to the the tutors available, office hours and studied for hours at a time and still did poorly. Tests are nothing like examples given in class. Partial credit is a joke. Does not teach material, expects you to know it from high scho
Awesome instructor. Wish he taught all 3 calc sections. Far superior to other calculus professors.
I love A.G.! He is very kind and caring. I had to work hard to get an A+, but he answered all my questions in class as well as during office hours. A.G. makes Calculus enjoyable.
Professor Kartsatos is the most passionate mathematics professor I have every had. He understands how students learn & helps them along the way. If only more professors were like Prof K., USF would be a much better place. I got a C in the class but that was fine with me, highly recommended because he actually cares about the students.
A.K. is a fun, brilliant prof. He never makes you feel bad for not knowing something. I'm terrible in math and thanks to him I survived calculus.
He is an awesome professor. Really knows how to teach the material so that the students can understand watz goin' on.....if you are willing to learn somethin'. He breaks up the class by just talking and making everyone laugh about one thing or another....hillarious..
Wonderful Professor! Will make things easy for students and will explain you several times in class if you don't get something, ofcourse he's also available in his office hours too, but hardly needed even if you are not so good at math. He's a funny guy and I would say better than other Biz Calc prof, by experience. I would recommend him to everyon
AWESOME Professor! I'm going to miss him!Crystal clear, fun, makes the subject easy to understand.Tests contain problems that he does on Bb,so make sure you attend. He'll explain over and over again untill everyone understands.Tests are NOT multiple questions, which I thought was great idea( you get partial credits). TAKE HIM and only him! Got A+ !!!
This guy is a genius, but a fun, interesting one.
Two words: bad a$$. AG is an awesome professor and a great person. They don't make them like him much anymore. His personality is phenomenal and his teaching is superb. He cuts out 99% of the BS you don't need and gives you EXACTLY what you do. His test are straightforward and he won't trick you. Go to class, take his notes, you'll do just fine!
Dr. Kartsatos is such a dream to take! He makes the class fun, cuts up with the class, tells a cool story or what not to break up the monotony of calculus. He hates the book, refuses to use it and teaches from his heart & mind. His tests are extremely fair and his grading system is very generous. Go to his class and write down exactly what he says.
THE absolute best. No one is better at USF than Dr. Kartsatos. He's very old school in his teaching style, but he is super clear on the subject and he prepares you very well for his tests. He's a fair grader too. He is an all around great guy, both personally and academically.
Dr. Kartsatos is an excellent professor! I would highly recommend him to anyone! He actually knows his stuff and will always take the time to help you out if you need a little extra help. He hates the book, so only suggests you use it to practice problems. Best Math professor I've had at USF so far!
Great professor. Very clear as to what he expects and what will be on the test. Even gives out his phone number to help students study for the exam. Exams are exactly what he says they'll be. One of the best professors at USF by far and he knows his stuff. Very relaxed & funny too. A++
I can still remember his jokes. Such a charismatic guy! His intelligence has no limits, often, we felt he could anticipate all our concerns. Though I agree with other students who rate him as "A+", for me he is wayyyyy above.
The worst math teacher I've taken at USF. He talks to you like he's yelling and doesn't give extra points like he says he will. I passed the class but I still won't recommend him to ANYONE!!!!
He was a great teacher. He uses the text book but will randomly tear out pages he doesn't like. I took him over the summer and he understood that it was a shorter time period of the amount of material that needed to be taught. He took that into account on his tests. Helpful if you send him e-mails about question on HW and gives his home phone out 2
The professor is really good and optimistic
No one better. Period. Dr. Kartsatos is the best, hands down. Don't even ask yourself "should I take him". Take him. He's the best USF has to offer, guaranteed. He's been there 38 years and knows his crap backward, forward, sideways, up & down. He cuts out the crap you'll never use and gives ou in a clear manner exactly what you will. Phenomenal.
Just awesome. Can't say much more than that. I wish he taught every math course at USF. He's been doing it forever and he tells lots of stories about his many years at USF. He makes the subject interesting, even if you're not math oriented. Probably the easiest to understand ever. Super fair grader!
The class was awsome he teaches very well and he tell u what is going to be on the test. He doesnt teach you something and then test you on something else like some professors. The class was great and would highly recommend it, I learned a lot.
this professor is so smart that it is a bit unsettling. He teaches straight from his mind and is probably the most clear and concise professor that I have ever had in my academic career. Highly recommend.
I wish I could learn a fraction of what this man has forgotten. Wow. He makes everything so clear. Notice I didn't say easy, I said clear. He cuts out so much of the crap that most profs try to cram into a term. He doesn't need a book to teach, he's that good. Light homework assignments and great lectures.
Very good teacher! One of the best math teachers that I have ever had. If he taught more classes at USF other than calc 1 and graduate courses I would love it! A++ teacher. A good teacher like him is hard to come by!
Smart professor. Had him for summer session. Can teach w/o the book and comes up with own examples. Trims the sections to the essentials and makes it easy to understand. Teachers first, then does examples before exam. Exams are 8 Qs choose 5. Go to his office hours, and practice practice practice. Math is only hard if you do not put in the effort.
Great professor! I enjoyed going to his class and he was always funny and told us stories. I could tell that he really wanted to be teaching and wasn't just doing it for the money. Tests were easy if you understand the concepts. No graded homework. Fun class
I wouldn't recommend taking his class. His tests proof based with only 5 questions, and he usually takes points off even if you got the right answer. Not a bad guy though. I'm just sure there are other Calc teachers who are easier, if that is what you're looking for.
REALLY HARD!!!
A.G. is by far the best math/science professor I have had. In all honesty, I find previous comments rather suspicious, for A.G. is always willing to help. Yet, if you do not put minimum effort, then you will fail. I took business calc with him and thanks to his effective teaching style, I went directly to calc 2 and got an A without struggling.
I think, actually i am positive that this teacher is by far the best i ever had. i have taken maths in 3 different continents and he has no equal. He is awesome as a teacher, i really wish i could take him with me in my other classes. He is the best of the best.
AMAZING!!!!! No one can teach calculus better than him
I wish I could have him for 2283, too! I had Kartsatos for calc 1 and 2 and he is great at teaching. You must study for the tests and understand the material, but he cuts a lot of crap out of the book so we don't have to learn everything. He is funny and tells jokes and I enjoyed going to his class! Can't say that about many other classes!
He is such a caring professor! From day one, he establishes a very positive learning environment. The exams, while not easy, are extremely fair if you study. He wants students to succeed in his class.
Best math teacher I've ever come across. He's a little bit out there (I call him the crazy Greek) but he's a nice guy and also willing to help you pass his course because he actually cares. Only 4 tests and there all easy if and only if you study and understand the material. If you want to understand and pass Calculus, take it with him!
Funny guy, does lots of examples (helps).
He is a very cool and chill guy. Not only does he teaches the material but also takes the time to motivate and somewhat inspire us to learn and retain math rather than getting an A. Whenever the class gets a little stress out about the material, he'll go off on a tangent and ease the tension. He should teach forever.
He does a lot if poblems.... He is hilarious
Very funny guy! Unfortunately, he does not teach calc too well. He talks too much about irrelevant stuff and then you do actual examples 2 days before the exam. He needs to stick to schedule, talk about relevant stuff and do more problems. I had to teach myself calculus. Most of the time I had no idea what chapter he was on. Thank god for tutors!
Best math teacher ever! Go to class because his test are the same as the practice problems he puts on the board! I see him outside of class all the time and he is by far my favorite teacher! I am taking him for calc 2 and can't wait for it! Definitely take him! If you actually talk in class and answer questions he will love you! :)
Hilarious (tells the best stories ever), motivating (really wants you to learn and UNDERSTAND), explains well though very mathematically, so hard for some people to comprehend. Grade consists of four tests only, no hw. Does lots of problems in class from various books. Great personality and teaches well. AWESOME professor!
Loved this guy. He was really friendly, and he also does a lot of practice problems in class that are usually on the exam. But I am an over achiever, so I also used Study Edge's practice probs they have online to further ensure I got an A.
Good teacher but not very good at simplifying problems when asked. He uses a lot of mathematical lingo with the assumption that the student knows it already so he can be hard to follow at times. He also does ALOT of unnecessary proofs which caused me to lose track of what I needed to know and what I didn't need to know.
Seriously, I don't think there is a better Calculus teacher at USF. This guy not only makes class enjoyable, but he makes it easy to understand and possibly has the most fair tests I've ever seen in a math class. There is no homework and class consists basically of him doing enough examples that if you attend class you will have no problem passing.
He's probably the only teacher I've met that understands that if you do complex examples, it'll confuse someone that's trying to learn it, so he doesn't do really unnecessary examples. He teaches what you need to know and if the theory bores you, then you shouldn't parrot school in the first place and you deserve the panic you get.
I took Differential Equations with this professor.I don't feel like I learned much. He isn't that great of a teacher. The tests are somewhat difficult but your grade is fully dependent on 4 exams, 25% each. If you do poorly on just one test, your entire grade will be ruined.
I'm taking him now in spring 2015 and he's very confusing and doesn't stop talking the entire class. He has a slight accent, but it's no big deal. He explains things differently and if you haven't read the text or remember it from a past math youre left very confused. I got a 102 in precalc last semester, but this class seems like it is gonna suck.
Honestly, at the beginning of the semester I thought I was going to hate this class but he is not too bad. The material is pretty difficult but he is always willing to give you extra help if you ask.
This is may not be the right teacher for some, but he certainly wasn't for me. There's four tests as your grade, with 10 questions each you have to make sure you KNOW what you're doing. His lectures tend to be quite confusing. I've gotten lost frequently in his lectures. If you learn with practice go for it, but if not, try to find someone else.
Very unclear while instructing. There is no homework given and no online math tool that allows for extra learning. The lectures were very confusing and he gets angry when students ask questions. DO NOT TAKE HIM. The processes he expects you to use are different than the ones taught in the tutoring center so they cant help you.
Although his class is not really hard, he assumes you know everything. There are no homework, no quizzes, and he doesn't drop anything. So if you fail one test your chances of getting an A or a B will be none. If you sit in front of the class he'll definitely ask you stuff.
Professor Athanassios does not require attendance or homework, the only grades on the class were given by 4 tests, 25% each test. I honestly couldn't understand much on the lectures, so I'd only go on some exercise classes. Just make sure to know and to do all the exercises he asks for the tests and you should be fine
Worst professor I've had. Constantly berates students for not being as smart as him. Ask for help and he will yell at you and not even answer the question.
Professor Kartsatos is a good teacher when he teaches, but he goes off topic too often. He gives you the problems you need to practice one class before the exam. He will blatantly tell students their questions are stupid. If calculus doesn't come easily to you and you need to ask for help, I wouldn't recommend this class.
I hated him the first time but later on I realized how great he is. He has 4 tests that are 25% each and his lecture's are boring but he's a literal genius who really loves math and want's to give that love of math to his students. He teaches to give students a good background and wants us to retain the material forever. His stories are fun too.
I don't normally post reviews but he was 1 of my favorite professors that I've ever had. Tests aren't difficult if you know your integrals. He teaches the concepts very well & works out plenty of examples which are very similar to the tests. His lectures are nothing short of entertaining and informative. Make an effort in the class & you will pass.
Failed his class along with 30 other. More than 50% fail his class. The class is not at all difficult but if you are not a studious student, this class isn't meant for you. He has no homework so there is no practice. Only 4 exams and the average is final grade, he gives a bonus on 3rd test. There is no curve so if you do badly in one ur grade falls
Professor Kartsatos is very good at making you understand mathematics rather than just knowing how to do it. He will call you out if you say something that he has already said before to you and will expect you to remember it. He has no homework which allows you to focus on what you need to work on rather than wasting time on stuff you already know.
The entire course consists of 4 tests. Each 10 question test is worth 25% of the final grade. A lot of students drop throughout the semester. If you haven't take Calculus before it's impossible to understand.
He gives 4 tests and those are your grades. He only teaches really the 3 days before the tests, so make sure you show up on those days. Can be a bit cruel, but it's in a fun, dad-joke way. Great teacher and tries to set you up to do well.
Do NOT make this mistake if you have the option. I came into this class having already having credit for Calc 1 through AP testing, was provided with an absolute mess of a class, no resources AT ALL, a grade entirely based on 40 total test questions that are entirely from his brain, and no other way to earn points. learned minimally in his class
Not accessible at all outside of class. The worst teacher I have ever had. Whole semester grade based on 4 tests, and he is a very tough grader and focuses too much on theory. He does not really explain anything until 2 days before the tests. I suggest reading and working ahead in the book and KNOW your theory. I needed a B but failed me by 2 pts.
A.G. is an amazing professor but don't expect him to babysit you. He is super funny and actually wants his students to do well. Test are pretty fair without any surprises.
DO NOT take him for online. He is technologically illiterate. It is so hard to hear and understand him because he calls into the meetings on his phone. Also, he takes off points on tests if you have a wrong answer on the paper, cross it out, then find the right answer and circle it. Test problems are waay harder than pretest problems.
Would not recommend, really tough grader, you will get points taken off even if you have the right answers if you don't specifically use what he tells you to use.
I hated calculus in high school but AK made me start loving it. It takes some time to get used to his teaching methods, especially because he struggles with technology, but you'll get used to it. He does everything he can (including changing the tone of his voice) to make you focus on the class. He also gives you pretests to help with the exams.
This professor takes off points from the exam just because you don't do it his way. I still have pictures of all the crap he wrote on my test; when I tried to ask him about it , he told me he would deduct more points for "arguing". I went to the dean for the math department and he said that USF doesn't have a grading policy. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Whole class is based on 4, 10 question tests. Can be unnecessarily insulting. Be prepared to learn things on your own, as its extremely hard to understand his accent. His tests, as some math scholars would say, are "artificially hard." He does however give extra credit to those who attend his useless lectures, since few attend.
Going into Professor Kartsatoss class, I thought I was not going to like the class. He started to grow on me after the first exam though. Whole grade is 4 exams, each making 25% your grade with no dropping/curve, I cannot stress this enough, study the practice exams like a religion because they are very similar.
I would say this is the worst teacher I have ever had. He doesn't assign any homework, so your grade is based on the scores you get on the tests. His lectures are basically him showing slides of solved problems, so he won't even teach you the process of solving a problem. Also, it's practically impossible to understand what he says.
The only grades given were the 4 exams. Lectures were difficult to understand. Hes very smart but sometimes doesnt get his point across.
I almost gave up on engineering after having him as my first Calculus professor. Turns out I didn't, and now after retaking calculus with a different and infinitely better professor, I have an average of A+, and I'll be a TA next semester. Draw your conclusions...
