Knows the subject but is very boring, you have to write 3 papers in two areas, and there are 3 tests as well and those are moderately hard. If you like reading and writing he's a good teacher.

He really wants to teach you. You must be open to his style of teaching, and you'll do fine. He's available after hours if necesary. The only UCF teacher that I will try to take all his classes.

All of his classes are structured the same way and he is very clear. His lectures are sort of dry but he can be quite amusing. He is my favorite American Policy professor.

Dr. Jewett is one of the best! His classes require some effort, but you leave actually learning and attaining something. You are required to write, however it isn't that difficult if you try!!! Don't be a sissy... he is not that bad!

I took this guy years ago, and he actually made me consider getting a political science minor. He'd always get excited and pump his fist in the air. He was also so balanced to the point where his students never knew his real opinion about things, and that's the way it SHOULD be! Great guy!

I have really enjoyed his class. He is very knowledable and adds in extras (like students presenting current events) to make class interesting. Very clear in what he expects of you and even hands out a helpful study guide for exams. Very clear lectures, hands out notes that correspond with the book. Overall, great professor. Would recommend.

Great professor. He was always very clear on what he expected. His class is very structured. I got an A on every single test, homework assignment, and paper. There is some work involved but its nothing the average student can't handle. I highly recommend him and I plan on taking him for all the rest of my politcal science courses for my minor!

Class is very structured and organized. The lectures are really mundane, monotone, and boring. The "In the House" book is interesting, but reading is not neccesary if you attend class and tak notes. He grades leniantly on the critiques, and provides a study guide for both books on each test. Offers lots of extra credit questions on tests.

I've never had a teacher who is so eager to help students, even outside of class. Helps students find internships. Class requires an inordinate amount of work, however. He is not an engaging lecturer. Grading is very fair.

By far one of my favorite professors here at UCF. I've taken 2 classes and have received A's both times. Go to class for the easy E.C. and participate. The critiques can be tedious, but that's if you're a slacker. Visit him during his office hours and he will hook you up with an internship!

VERY fair and kindhearted person. Interesting and USEFUL subject matter. Lectures and handouts are quite comprehensive--you will be able to discuss our state's politics fluently. He is a co-author of both books, so he knows his stuff. Especially recommended for students from other states. You WILL have to work for a good grade.

I must admit that the test are hard, but if you study you will do well. Hes a very good teacher and he def. knows what he is talking about. I have never seen someone so excitied to teach a class especially at 730 in the morning, but it kept me interested.

I took this course online and it was extremely difficult. Doing what is required will earn you a C at best. If you go above and beyond there should be no reason not to receive an A, he is an extremely fair professor who goes out of his way to help his students. The best way to describe Prof. Jewett is that he is fair but extremely difficult.

Florida Politics. Straight forward, you know EXACTLY what is expected of you. Tests are challenging but if you pay attention to lectures and study you will do well. Extremely knowledgeable.

Pretty easy to get an A. Attendance is not mandatory, but part of your grade and extra credit. He gives you a study guide for questions on the short answer, and if you just go through the other book with the outlines of the lectures it is pretty easy to get an A on the tests. He is a super easy grader on the small papers he requires.

Jewett is really sweet and extremely passionate about politics. He's also fair-minded and being a conservative in college, I can personally vouch for him on being unbiased. He's strict and outlines exactly what he expects from you, but I'd rather have that in a professor than someone vague. Really helpful outside of class as well. Def recommend!

I loved taking Professor Jewetts Class. He made our 7:30 class fun and interesting. There is a lot of information on his tesst, but he outlines everything. He is very interested in your learning, and if you have a question he will always be there to help you out. I recommend professor Jewett's class to anyone who wante to learn.

Took State and local government with him online over the summer and aged horribly! In person he's great, but do not dare take him online- he will overwhelm you with readings, quizzes and "participation" writings! I worked my butt off to earn a B in his class.

The class I took was Florida Politics, but it was his honor course for the semester. It's my second class with Dr. Jewett and I wish he taught more classes! If you truly want an unbiased and intelligent professor, this is your guy. He's helpful outside of class, responds to emails quickly, and genuinely cares about politics and his students.

Dr. Jewett is an excellent professor. I took his general ed gov't class in honors, and because gov't is my "thing," I got an excellent grade. His tests are very easy, and can be passed without stress with memorization. There are weekly papers due about hot issues, but it's fun with class discussion. I will take future classes with Dr. Jewett again.

His tests were easy if you read the book and know the CQ Researcher topics discussed in class. Even though I am not interested too much in Government courses, Jewett made it easy to enjoy. Dr. Jewett is a fantastic professor! Tests are super easy if you study a little and the 2 papers are not bad at all. He takes attendance, but you get a bonus on tests (+ extra cred questions). He will always take the time to explain anything and is very helpful. Definitely recommend!

This class may seem overwhelming at first, but the tests are actually pretty easy if you study. No tricks at all. Study the lecture notes and you'll be fine. 2 papers: first one is really easy but MediaMarket Analysis can be tedious and difficult. Attendance required. Still, Dr. Jewett is a great teacher and very helpful and passionate! A+

Had him for Honors. Lectures are really dry and boring. Gives you an outline for each chapter. Tests are fair as long as you go over the outline and know the CQ topics. Had weekly writing assignments from the CQ book due, but they were easy. Loved the class discussions. I would take him again

Seemed like a nice guy. However, didn't make an already boring subject any more interesting. Very difficult to pay attention for an hour and fifteen minutes every class period. However, there were only three multiple choice tests. They were very fair if you read the notes he provided and he gave extra credit for attendance.

I am taken his class online this summer and the amount of work is ridiculous. I'll break it down 9weeks of class read 2chapters & 5articles per week, 8quiz 8modules 8/1500words essay 7postings per module for an A and for the Final 8-12 page essay and he said "Don't wine about it" His motto "I will exhaust you until are so tired you can't even learn

Dr Jewett is a great professor. His classes do involve some work, but nothing crazy. He's always willing to help and is very clear with his thoughts and ideas in lecture. I would definitely take him again.

Prof. Jewett seems truly interested in helping students in the classroom and beyond. His classes are def not easy though. Congress has two papers only one of which is over 5 pages. There's three tests, and you should listen when he recommends reading and rereading chapts. Knowing the txt well and his lectures is a must to get an A on tests.

Dr. Jewett is a nice guy but his class is remarkably boring. The textbooks are incredibly boring and the material in one of them is all inclusive on tests. The papers are a joke, the tests are very easy and he barely lectures. Not to mention the redundant current events. Easy class and you will be disappointed if you were hoping to learn a lot.

Honors. Five 1500 (about) word essays. 3 books to read. He is a great professor, who loves and mastered his study. The only complaint is that this class is a LOT of work if you are taking it just to fill your Gen. Ed. You'll get what you put into the class, but if you want a piece of cake class , because POS might not be your major, perhaps avoid.

Three exams, two papers, and participation make up your grades. Lectures are dull and boring, though he tries to make them interesting will stupid jokes. Exams are easy if you study the outline he gives you. Media market paper was a pain to write, but if you follow his example you will be fine.

TAKE HIM! He expects you to put forth work but gives you very detailed guidelines about what he expects. He gives you extra credit just for going to class! It would be hard to fail this class.

So incredibly boring, and a tough grader when it comes to the papers. I had him for a morning class and could barely keep my eyes open. He expects a lot of work out of you and acts like you don't have any other classes to work on but his. Nice guy, terrible professor. I have no idea why people like him so much. Wouldn't take him again.

His tests are tough and very broad, he doesn't let you know what to study but asks you exact questions that you would only know if you memorized them. Unfair grader, boring lecturer, he literally reads off his notes to the class. Really, really nice guy, but not a good professor! Would not recommend him to people :(

Great professor, 3 tests, 2 papers, a current event, attendance and class participation is all easy. You can get C's and D's on the tests and still get a B in the class. YOU MUST STUDY EVEN A LITTLE, do the papers and attend class and you should not have a problem passing the class if not get a B or even an A. Dont procratinate on the papers!

Not a fan of his teaching style at all. The way he grades papers, he always manages to find something "wrong" with what you wrote. He is one of the nicest guys, but a terrible professor! He is willing and eager to answer your questions. Overall, if you're looking for an easy class, this is not it. I got a B in the class, but has to work my butt off

Read and print out the notes he gives you. that's what will be on the test. The books can be found online so don't buy them. must go to class in order to pass plus if you go he will give hints on what to study as well as give extra credit for being there. When going over the different counties take notes its also on the test. 2 papers really easy

Even though I do not have much interest in politics, I enjoyed this class. There are 3 tests which are fairly easy and are based on his notes. There are also discussions every class about the assigned reading. The only downside to this course was that there are five papers, which are a lot of work. However,an A is definitely achievable.

Great professor, really cares about his students, attendance is not mandatory, but is worth extra credit on tests. gives you all the notes and basically the questions that will be on the test. Easy grader, take him if you can!

Took class online this summer. Taking this class for summer was hard as there was a LOT of reading & writing, but Prof Jewett is very fair & understanding. Organize yourself & you'll do fine. Great time and great professor!

As an online Summer A session class, there was double the work load bc there was half the usual class time. Prof Jewett tells you this. Essay & test on 2chapters from 2books every week, but both were easy if you read the chapters. He drops the lowest week's scores. I could've gotten an A if I'd followed the syllabus & posted 8 responses each week.

This professor is amazing! Super helpful and great feedback. For a regular semester you have a quiz and discussion due every two weeks. For every quiz you can take it twice to improve your grade. I highly recommend this teacher!

It took me a while to get used to his teaching style, but after a few online quizzes (every two weeks) his class was a breeze. Attendance is taken every day, but you get extra credit for going and answers to test questions. He is SUPER helpful with any problems you are having. TAKE HIM.

do not take this class in the morning, and definitely buy the books. don't try to take the quizzes without your text right next to your. overall easy class and jewett is a very nice guy. 2 papers, one easy one pretty difficult, do not procrastinate! tests are pretty straight forward and easy

Prof Jewett is one of the 'easiest' teachers I've ever take. Not because the work is easy but because you know exactly what is expected of you at all times and all the responsibility lies on you! There are no surprises in this class! He is a very fair grader and gives great feedback on your work! I will definitely take him as many times as I can!

Not helpful, he actually makes you feel like you are wasting his time if you have a question. Keep questions to a minimum unless you want like feeling like a idiot as he is good at it. He's quick however to tell you what you have done wrong in on assignments discussions. 2nd class of his, thought since I knew his style it would be better. WRONG!

Lets start off by saying this professor is awesome! yes the class can be a little gruesome, but as long as you do the discussions for each chapter and complete the assignments on your textbook you will be fine. I do warn you, you must reread the chapters to understand the material, and take notes.

There is one quiz and two articles per week. You are allowed to take the quiz again and she will take the highest score if on the first quiz you score above a 60%. The two articles are 1000 words each but are easy. You also have to make comments to other students. As long as you post 8 times she will give you a 100% for that part.

So I am only a few weeks into this course and I must say WOW a lot of work! He had clear grading criteria but it is to precise. You have 50 questions test on each module and you have to write an exactly 1200 word compare and contrast paper and an exact 500 current event article for every module. Each module consist of two chapter readings.

Very easy class to receive an B-A in. His instructions are very clear. If you want to learn more about Florida and state government in Florida take this class. The quizzes can be tough but the written assignments are a very easy way to keep you afloat and guarantee you at least a B.

Enjoyed this class. Prof Jewett is very knowledgeable. Concepts can be hard to understand but Prof is there if needed. Responds back in a timely manner. Midterm, final and weekly assignments with discussion post. Easy work if you read the MicroCase assignment chapter and information given by the professor. Would take again.

Prof Jewett is very knowledgeable. Gives great feedback. Quiz and an 800 to 1200 word essay for for each module. Gives two weeks between each module. Responds back in a timely manner. No midterm or final. Easy work if you do not get behind on reading. Follow instructions for papers! Allows for two attempts on quizzes. Would take again.

Gives AMAZING feedback on each assignment. Warns at the beginning of the semester that the class is very hard, but the key is to not fall behind. Each module is 2 weeks long with 2 assigned readings. There was a quiz over the readings followed by a 1700 word paper each module. DO THE WORK. It is interesting and she is more than willing to assist!

2nd time taking this course and i am so glad i took it! This prof is a great example of what a profshould be like. He's very helpful, always responds to emails, gives great feedback and most of all makes the subject fun. I'd take him again again bec seriously this guy deserves a raise. Read a chapter, do the workpage, group discuss, test, repeat.

Professor Jewett is wonderful! I have to take on-line classes and, in most cases, I feel completely out of touch with the professor. However, Professor Jewett does a great job of providing constructive feedback and seems genuinely interested in his students success. Would take him for every class if possible.

Love! Mr. Jewett is the best professor I have ever taken. He is excited and interested in his courses. He assigns what can seem like a daunting amount of work, but the timeline is every 2 weeks, ample time to get it done. HE IS THE BEST. I have taken him twice already and have registered with him for next semester too. Always helpful.

The class itself is very interesting and Iencourage taking it if you're looking to learn more about specific policies. However, you do have to work for this class. If you're willing to put in the work, it's great. Jewett gives you a very specific and concise syllabus and puts in grades timely plus adds a lot of great feedback!

Wouldn't take again

I'm currently taking State Gov/Public Policy and Florida Politics with Dr. Jewett and that probably wasn't the smartest idea. Each class has 1700 word papers due every two weeks. They aren't really hard to do, they just get really annoying. If I was only in one class with him, I'd be fine. Quizzes are easy and he's not a strict grader so it's good.

By far the best prof. I have taken at UCF so far. He wants you to learn and he doesn't make it easy to slack. You have to put in effort and that means reading the textbook, studying for exams (6), and working hard on the discussions (6). You have two weeks for each module - USE YOUR TIME WISELY. He offers one extra credit opp. DO IT!

Professor Jewett is probably one of the best professors within the political science department. He cares about his students and provides good feedback and always replies emails. He gives two weeks for each module and each module includes a quiz and a two-part discussion. Only one extra credit opportunity, use it!

Professor Jewett is a really great professor. His class is tough but he understands the material very well. He responds very fast with emails and gives great feedback to help you improve. I'm so glad I took his class. I definitely recommend taking him but be prepared to learn and work for your grade.

He gives basically an essay every 2 weeks which includes 1 of 5 topics he lets you choose from as well as a small current event essay. There is also an essay so I advise reading the chapters. There's only about 6 of those a semester and a HUGE paper at the end of the semester as a final. If you don't mind keeping up with the work I recommend! :)

Great professor! Just do the work and you'll get an A. His posted lectures online made the information very easy to understand, and although a statistics based course, some of the info can be interesting. Just make sure you work efficiently or else the work load will overwhelm you.

Get a hang of the policy analysis in the first week because it makes up most of your grade. Quizzes are extensive and specific with the info. BUT everything is due every 2 weeks! Give 2 articles per paper and theyre loong! 10-15 are about the articles on quizzes. Read the ch it HELPS! The course is perfect. he drops 2 lowest papers no quizzes. Okay

Very easy A personally. A module took place every two weeks, which includes a quiz and a discussion. As long as you read for the quiz and read for the discussion, its fine. Also, don't wait till the last minute to start the discussion, it is quite lengthy! He drops the lowest two discussions, and there isnt a midterm or final. Just busy work really

Florida politics - you have to read. State Government - you can do well without reading. In both classes there's a 1900 word essay every 2 weeks and it gets really really, annoying. Essays aren't hard, but u get points off for not following his rubric (not bc ur content wasn't up to par). SO, I would recommend taking State Gov, but not FL. Politics

I would not recommend taking this professor unless you have to & if you are in school and work full time. He is a nice person and will try to help but his work is very time consuming for no reason. I'm a fully online student and the idea of taking Scope and Methods online terrified me, but Professor Jewett's lecture notes made the material easier to understand. You have to complete a discussion + microcase assignment each week, midterm, final and original research project make up the rest of your grade. He will answer all of your questions!

Prof. Jewett gets more hours in a day than other humans, that's all I can figure. Yes, his courses require work, but he puts in the work too. He's responsive, engaged & encourages discussion. If you want an easy A without having to put much thought into it, maybe he's not your guy. If you want to learn & understand the subject, you can't do better.

This is the second class I have taken with him, and he truly cares about his students. You do need to read and do the work, but he does a great job in stimulating interest in the class. Very respectful, and very responsive if you need help/have questions. I would highly recommend taking his classes.

Always willing to help and gives great feedback. Very caring professor. You will learn a lot BUT be careful. There is a heavy workload so avoid if you want an easy A class.

A lot of students bicker because the class revolves around a lot of work and how strict he is with the word limit. A 1,500 word paper and a quiz is due every two weeks. They key to passing this class is simply to do the readings and take notes. The class it self isn't arduous but it is strenuous on your time. He responds quick w/ great feedback.

If U have kids, work, or busy life it will be hard taking his online classes. work consists of reading 100-200 pgs , 50 Question quiz, & discussion post that's essay styled w/ 1200 words. the work itself not difficult. to understand, but too tedious for an online class & for the short time per week one has to work on it, especially FL Politics

Dr. Jewett created the Florida Politics class, making him an expert on the subject. This class has lengthy assignments requiring a LOT of time- as such, you learn invaluable information. Do as instructed, ask for help/clarification if needed (he responds immediately and shows genuine concern for student success) and you should be fine. Loved him.

this guy is pretty cool. The online class for scope and methods was pretty easy in the first half but after the midterm, theres a bit more work. it starts out as just a discussion every Monday, then u have to do data analysis in addition to the discussion until the end of the course. but overall the class is alright, my grade's at a high B rn.

Professor Jewett is great. He is so responsive, helpful, and also pretty funny! He made what could have been a difficult topic enjoyable and easy to understand. If you have the chance to take him for Scopes, do it. I dont think youll regret it.

Awesome online class. Weekly discussion post, latter half of semester also had weekly SPSS assignments. He provides all info needed in the modules, so no textbook needed, just the workbook for SPSS. Lenient grader when it comes to discussions. You can even retake the midterm/final for a better grade. Currently at a 95%.

Prof Jewett is one of the best at UCF. His Florida Politics class is super informative, but can be challenging if you let it. Every 2 weeks there is a 1500 word "essay" due in each module. End of semester included a 4000 word essay. Super easy if you can manage your time. Definitely buy the book!

Dr. Jewett is a great professor, the class is very easy to navigate, and you are only graded by 2 things. Each week there is a disscusion due, it is made up of two analysis, each need to be 1200 words each; along with a weekly quiz (2 attempts) Dr. Jewett always answered my emails and gives very specific feedback on how to improve your writing.

This class was definitely challenging; the amount of reading was intense and the writing assignments were weekly (I took the 8-week accelerated course). However, the textbook reading wasn't dully written which made it a lot easier to get through, and once you understand the formatting of the assignments, completing them efficiently isn't a problem

He micromanages discussions to the extreme all the while not providing independent responses to the students; yet, he copies and pasts his umbrella response to everyone. Great professor! Made me a better writer and I have learned and retained info compared to other prof. He co-wrote the textbook, great price, easy to read, his powerpoints are very helpful. Lets you take quiz 2x diff ?s. Papers are the hardest but reasonable is you put effort, he is big on students cross-discussing which is nice, gives good feedback

The Good: what you see is what you get. He will grade you based off the rubric to a T! If you want full credit you must hit that max word count and participation. His books were cheap and recent. I will read them again. The Bad: 1700 word essays due every 2 weeks. 100+ pages read every 2 weeks. Must reply to 8 peers. A research paper is the final.

Yes there are 2400 word papers due every 2 weeks, but they are so structured that it feels more like short answer questions. I learned a ton in this class and I though it was very interesting. Prof gives good feedback and wants to see you succeed. Plus, he drops your two lowest paper grades. Id recommend taking him, if you are ready to work hard.

He expects a lot! You will be writing 2k words a week per module and 8 reply post plus replying to his comment. It is ridiculous. On too of all that he is a tough grader. I have not been able to get an A yet on the post but I manage to get an A on his quizzes.

This class was a lot of work but I feel like it was definitely worth it. Dr. Jewett is really nice and gives AMAZING feedback for your essays/discussions so you know exactly what to do to boost your grade on the next one. The tests were long but really easy as long as you did the reading from both books. Biweekly essays and quizzes.

Every week, a discussion post is due that is 1,700 long, with an additional 8 replies. He grades very harshly and what was expected was not very clear. Discussion posts and quizzes plus a final paper is what is graded. The quizzes are supposed to be based on the readings but do not always correspond exactly, leading to uncertainty on grading.

He is AWESOME! Highly recommend. His class is super straightforward. Some of the other reviews say he is hard, but he just wants exactly what he has stated. To get an A in this class follow EXACTLY what he says. For example, if he says to make the discussion post 1,500 words, make it exactly that. Not one word over or under. Easy A.

Professor Jewett is an awesome professor I was so worried about taking this class online because this is a very challenging course if you're a political science major or an international global studies major. this class Is 12 discussions, midterm, and a final. Professor Jewett is an awesome professor. I took two classes with him this semester and finished with high A grades in both of them. 50 question quiz with 90 minutes weekly. Read the text book and use the resources provided, there is no reason you should get a bad grade on these quizzes. Biweekly discussions are easy if you follow the word count.

SUMMER MINI A- ONLINE (97 A+) Dr. Jewett is my favorite UCF prof. Very clear on what you need to do to get the best grade on each assignment. In my experience he wasn't a tough grader, could be because I followed the rubrics and instructions to a T. Wrote about 1200 words every other week for the 4 discussions we had. Put in the work, get an A+.

Prof Jewett is great and does not assign much course work. You are placed into discussion groups (even or odds), required to discuss a current Florida event that relates to the lectures. You are then asked to respond to at least 8 classmates, this sounds tedious but considering these are the only assignments plus quizzes. Caring and friendly!

This is my second class with Dr. Jewett and he's a great professor. This class wasn't bad but I wouldnt recommend taking it in 6 weeks. Exam for three chapters every week & a 1000+ word discussion every other week. Dr. Jewett is incredibly kind, very knowledgeable, was very good at answering questions and extremely accessible. His grading criteria is very clear, he teaches with powerpoint and adds it to webcourses afterwards. His tests are long, but you have plenty of time and you get to retake it once. My class was mixed-mode, so we took the tests online.

Your grade is weighed heavily by the final and midterm which are both on respondus. No clear study guide and questions on the tests make no sense and there's no real way to study for them as the modules have so much information. The TA grades all the practices assignments that are worn 20% of your grade, very tedious class.
