DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! i dont know y he is teaching he is horrible he dosnt know whats going on in his classes and labs and ofcouse he is no help since he dosnt have a clue about what he is teaching!!! i dropped his class before i failed and now have to retake in the summer! NO STUDY SHEET OR ANYTHING HE IS NO HELP!!!
he is a nice guy but his class is very hard and he has no idea what he is talking about... he didn't explain labs at all... and everyone dropped his class including me.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!
I think he's a pretty good teacher, the thing is that u have to remember to read the book prior to lecture or else the powerpoints wont make any sense. He goes pretty fast but if you are prepared ull do good.
I dont know what all these other people are talking about cause it is so easy to get a good grade in his class. He has reviews, gives TONS of extra credit and post his powerpoints online. his tests are all from powerpoint. does not check attendence and is a very helpfull and really down to earth cool guy. plus all M-choice tests,no essay questions.
nice, but his class is not interesting.
very nice guy, good teacher even though bio107 is a difficult class
the only good thing about this professor is that he post his power point up on my mc... and thats because if he didint the whole class would fail since he dosnt know how to teach...
Probably one of the best teachers I have had. Great attitude, always ready to help, he was always willing to answer and explain questions. He would stay way after class to clarify things or talk on related tangents. If he didnt know the answer to some random question you had he would look it up and tell you next class.
Great professor who is always willing to help, and explain things. He provides tons of extra credit (especially on tests) and really loves biology! Haven't had such a great prof. in a long time!
Prof. Smith is a really good professor. If you go to the office hours... he drops really helpful hints about the exams. Really good for the summer session if you are decent at sciences because you dont have to go to lectures.
So nice and helpful. I had trouble because biology is not my thing, but he would always answer my endless questions happily and was availible all the time for help. You should read the book because it would help( i never did) and he builds on that. He is a good and caring professor and also fun to talk to!
Fantastic teacher.Tons of bonus points. very fun class. exams are very easy and he gives free bonus on all of them, and if you go to his reviews he drops tons of hints about the exams.(ask questions while taking the exams he flat out gives you the answer) Easy B if you go to reviews
He's a great professor, he'll explain anything and the exams are easy - just read the chapters and if you have problems he posts the lecture notes online as well. Very fun loving guy.
GRAET TEACHER, LOVED HIS CLASSES. THIS GUY REALLY KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING
Very good professor. Knows what he's talking about. Helps a lot, just go ask him and he'll explain you everything! Study for the tests and you'll be fine. GREAAATTTT!!!
One word to descride this Prof SUPER AWESOME! If you take this guys class and have any less than a C, you might as well quit school and work at McDonalds. He does everything needed for you to learn and suceed.
He really wants his students to do well. He is willing to work with oyou one on one if you really dont get it. His power points are great but i would at least skim the textbook reading.
great teacher. very helpful, and nice. It is easy
Super cool and very helpful. A great person to talk to and he wants you to do well in his class! I had him when he first started teaching so things could get confusing, but he made sure that everyone understood! TAKE HIM you will be so happy you did! the best class ive had so far
Great attitude and very accessible. Don't miss a lab though, because the points you get from it significantly boosts your grade! Exams are straight from power points, book isn't neccessary but supplemental if you need further clarification. Interesting lectures. You won't get bored.
He says he doesn't curve grades but he gives a lot of "bonus points" which is basically curving grades.
BEST PROFESSOR I'VE HAD THUS FAR! HE IS THE TRUE DEF. OF A GREATTTT PROFESSOR! DR.SMITH IS EXTERMELY HELPFUL AND HE MAKES THE CLASS FUN AND INTERSTING! GOD BLESS MY HAITIAN BROTHA!
There is no reason not to get a B or higher in this course. Everything is very strait forward and if you don't understand a topic Dr Smith's office door is almost always open to students. If you are ESL you might have a hard time in this class as Dr Smith has a slight accent and talks quickly.
The coolest professor ever! He is so chill. He gives a lot of bonus points on exams. Is always available for help. Exams are easy if you study enough. Attendance to lecture isn't mandatory, but it is for lab. You can't get anything lower than a B in his class unless you absolutely put no effort. He's the awesomest person ever. Highly recommended!!!
Nicest man in the world. Very hard to understand because of his accent. His lectures are very hard to follow with the book. They are very sparatic. I studied my butt off and got a C.
dr. smith is awesome. i dont care what anyone says, i think his french accent is so cool! he is helpful and his tests are not hard if you study. labs are easy and he gives extra points which helps if you arent doing so hot. i recommand him to anyone who needs a bi107 course. he also tells really interesting stories about all kinds of things
Is a wonderful teacherReally helps his students and makes biology fun and interesting. Brings in real life experiences about his lecture that interest you and help you memorize the lecture. Funny and smart and kind he is like a friend. Really knows his stuff.3 exams & final, 2 lab exams, lab quizes and extra credit. Hard class but great teacher!!
Professor Smith is AWESOME! I took him spring semester for BIO 101 and even though Im not a science person, I can truly say I gained a greater understanding! During his lecturing he makes sure to explain the material thoroughly, once, twice, even three times and answers all questions. He is funny and cool, very down to earth and the kind of teacher
he is not interested in lecture attendance. But for lab, just like other professors, 3 absences and you are gone.
Dr. Smith is a really nice guy, he cares, and wants his students to do well. He is funny, and easy to get along with (provided you actually make an effort in class)Attendance is only mandatory in lab. Great Professor, I'm taking him for bio 107 next semester
2nd time taking Dr. Smith, he is a great Prof.!!! Class is lots of fun, but it's also lots of work. Study, and participate in class, you'll get a good grade!
He's a very nice guy, very down to earth, easy to talk to. He will take his time to answer questions and will talk about any other subject like sports :)
Great at lectures always very interesting!
Took him for 101 and 107, GREAT Prof. He is a genuinely nice guy. He really knows bio, and he really knows how to teach it. Best Prof at MC, take him!!!
This professor is the best professor at MC. If you take BIO107 I recommend you find a study group. This class is an easy A if you study and work hard. If you don?t understand go to him during his office hours and he will help you so much! He cares about his students and wants them to pass. He is such a nice guy and tells the best stories! Take him!
Great teacher. Study his ppt slides. Book can be used as a supplement. Take notes in class as he does test on what he says not on just his slides. Lab is great with him.
Great teacher down to earth.Has a great willingness to help his students. He makes BIO easy to understand.Lecture and Lab are joy with him.Do not hesitate to have him has a teacher.
You do not use the textbook at all. You will only use the power points that he posts online. Don't buy the book!!! Save yourself some money!! I studied the power points before each test and I got an A. He is a nice guy too
Hurd class
Nice professor but if you want to learn biology I'd go somewhere else. Not the best professor to have if you need to maintain a decent GPA.
Super nice teacher. Hard tests! But study from his PowerPoint!!!!!! and read the text book and you will be fine. You Will have to work but you will learn. No extra credit work but gives u an extra questions on test for extra points
BI 107 is no laughing matter or easy A class. That being said, he'll provide with the tools 2 succeed in this class. All you need is the powerpoint slides, so go 2 class NO MATTER WHAT. I got by with the help of my study group and had an A. Great lectures if you like stories and anecdotes, very well-informed, well-rounded, cool guy. Loved his class
Dr. Smith is amazing. I thought I would hate Biology and he made it awesome. He's super cool, funny, laid back, and challenging.
NICE GUY AND ALL BUT HARD!! HE MAKES THINGS SOUND EASY WHEN THEYRE NOT....7 EXAMS TOTAL OVER SUMMER....YOU DECIDE. I BARELY KNEW WHAT TO STUDY AT TIMES. HE DOESN'T CLARIFY MUCH....
Coolest professor at MC.
Had Prof. Smith for a summer course and thorougly enjoyed the class. He is very nice with a great sense of humor and cares about his students. He explains things clearly. Print the lecture slides and make notes on them during lecture. Reference the book when necessary. The subject isn't easy so pay attention and you'll do fine. He makes it fun!
Great professor, and great sense of humor. Took his class and felt like there was a lot of information to obtain. Study his LECTURE SLIDES AND REFER TO THE BOOK!! He is helpful if you ask for it, no extra credit is ever given.
Dr. Smith is the best biology professor at MC. He is very knowledgeable yet not boring. It is so easy to study when in his class. No tension whatsoever. He makes his students interested in attending lectures and labs and he explains everything so well. However, you still have to study hard to get an A. Overall, this is a MUST TAKE professor!
He's a nice, fun, professor who is clear in his teachings and is always willing to answer questions and further explain things in order to help you understand. Attendance is mandatory for labs but not lectures. He also has a sense of humor and tells really good stories when he goes on tangents.
amazing professor. very knowledgable and makes class interesting and fun. he lets you have fun in the labs but attendance is mandatory for them. very clear in his explanations.
Very good preofessor, keeps you engaged! Has amazing stories and is really helpful. Please remember to read lecture notes & text book!! I worked my butt off to get a good grade , but it was worth taking it with him.
He is awesome. his class is so intersting! he has ppt, and his grade is very clear. he always has bonus credit on the exam. he teaches you not only bl107, but also biology. he makes biology more interesting than i know. it is not easy to get an A. if you study, you will get it.
Dr. Smith has a PhD in molecular biology & biochemistry, so there is no excuse/way that he is a terrible prof. Lecture and Lab exams are pretty straight forward. Pay attention in lecture&lab, take notes with the ppt, ask q's, skim the book = A
This man is the best teacher I ever had. Not to sice him, but he made me like Bio. HE IS HILLARIOUS!!! Chill, but gets work done. Make sure you attend lab. Class is super fun, a privilege.
Stay away from this professor, give way too much work and doesn't use a book for the online classes. You have to sign up for another online class and have an average of 5 quizzes a week, an experiment, and a conference question that you have to answer and respond back to two classmates. JUST TOO MUCH I can't wait until we answer our course survey
Stay away from this professor!!! He seems like a cool guy, gets off the subject really often.comes to the grading, exams etc, he is not cool.I took him this summer, I worked super hard and ended up with a D after having 80% on the first lecture exam, 2 exams 68%, 2 exams 74%, 3 quizzes 5 out of 5 2 quizzes 4/5, 2 lab quizzes 7/10. Don't take him!
Great professor, hard class. Don't get the two mixed up. Taking any 4 credit class during the summer is brave. But it's risky to take a science course in the summer, especially if science is not your strong suit. I would suggest taking it in the fall or spring to avoid ruining your GPA. But if you just want a passing grade(C),by all means, take it.
Dr. Smith is one of the best Bio Prof. ever. He is all a student need. Make the class very interesting and easy to understand. Very clear and straight forward. The class needs a lot of studying, but knows how to make the subject easy and fun to learn.Very helpful and positive. I had Bio 107 with him this summer,Learnt a lot, worked hard, and got A.
Very knowledgeable and friendly Professor. He has lots of cool stories and keep the class interesting. Just don't be lazy, Take good notes and print the slides, and ask questions. He is the best. Cherish his class. He makes you love Biology. But the bottom line is you should study hard, and getting A is veeery possible in his class.
Dr. Smith is THE BEST bio teacher ever!!! He is a very friendly and helpful professor. He spent most of his lunch hours during our summer course to answer our questions. The funny thing is that most of the students that did not do well in his class are the ones that never show up in his office hours to ask questions. I highly recommend him
He is an amazing teacher.. the class was so much fun and you just didn't see the time pass by. If you pay attention to class, study the slides and ask him questions, there is no way that you cannot do well.
Aubrey Smith is without a doubt the BEST teacher I have ever had in my entire life better then any of the teachers during my 4 full years at the University of Maryland. He is also AWESOME and so funny and happy as a person his positive fun attitude is infectious and he makes the lecture fun by supplementing continued on next review
Dr. Smith is fantastic! He was available to help whenever I needed him and was interesting to learn from. Enjoy
Don't take his class he is hard proffers he is funny but he is hard grader even he don't like to help students.
He is the worst professor don't take his class he is nice but he doesn't like help student even with assiment he is more talking funny things not about subject a lot of student drop his class so he is not good in one class only 4 student pass so he is so bad
BEST PROF ever! take him!! worth taking hard but you will learn a lot thats is why we are spending for school to learn not to take the easy route of getting a grade we dont really deserve! take him i highly recommend him! best best ever!!!:)
He is the bomb!!! He is very clear and not boring at all!! I really enjoyed his class! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!
When Professor Smith does his lecture, he always gets off the subject. He always jumps into conclusion without explaining the whole process. Don't expect a reply when you email him. He is very strict. He is also a hard grader. If you are smart and has a very good memory, then you will survive his class. He does not give study guide.
He's an amazing professor, you can just study off your notes and power points and be fine. He is always available and willing to help (:
Extremely passionate about teaching and in many ways he is overqualified and over educated to be teaching the subjects that he teaches. He gives vastly interesting lectures and has a great easy going personality, but does not take any BS from students.
Take lots of notes. write down everything he says on each powerpoint slide. review that and you'll do good in class. He's always ready to help his students but this course is a hard course so you have to be willing to put in time to study a little each day. 4 exams (no final), 2 lab exams and a couple graded assignments. TAKE NOTES AND STUDY
Took his class in 2013 and still suffer with my GPA because of the grade he gave. His exams did NOT come from the text. Studying his power points thoroughly did NOT help either. A half of his students left after midterm. He does NOT provide any study guides, which other Bio Professors do, and gives A LOT of homework reflecting your grade.

Professor Smith is really nice but hes a really hard grader, I put so much time into my work, and I still got a pretty bad grade back. Professor Smith is really passionate about teaching others but maybe biology just isnt my thing. But over all, his test are pretty hard unless you understand everything.
As long as you attend every class, pay attention and study for the exams you should be fine. He is a passionate, funny teacher with a great personality. Never a dull moment. His tests are a bit hard so I suggest you read a little about what you are learning so you can understand it rather then memorize it.
Doctor Smith is not a very good teacher. While he is very knowledgeable of what he is teaching, he doesn't really explain very well. He always gets off topic and just don't teach the material. His test are really hard, and he doesn't offer other opportunities to improve your grade. Does not give any study guides and does not offer any help
Don't take his class!! He is the worst biology I ever had. His lecture are not clear at all. His test are extremely hard and he blames your study techniques if you fail. Most people in his class got C's and under. Most people also withdrawn his class after the second exam. I would not recommend him at all.
Bio is a hard subject is general so I think it would be tough with anyone, but particularly hard with Dr. Smith. He is a great professor, funny, knowledgeable, etc but doesn't give study guides (like other bio classes do) and the tests are very hard! More than half the class has a C or lower right now. Even still, I really enjoyed his class.
Dr. Smith is HANDS DOWN the BEST biology professor you could ever ask for!! He's so funny! We got side tracked a lot... but he always brought us back after a few minutes. He actually gives hwk to help boost your grade; nothing too long. It really helped for studying. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS!!! He wants to make sure you understand! And STUDY HARD!
the best
ll never recommend him. If Bio is not your stuff, don't. He likes to faio students and use to give very tough essai question.
Professor Smith is a great teacher. If you have a full time job, you can't spare much time out of class to study, andor you're taking many classes simultaneously, this is not the class for you. This class, by nature, is a difficult class to pass (not many people pass). Professor Smith makes this class interesting, funny and as easy as possible.
Dr. Smith is very knowledgeable, passionate, entertaining, and I truly enjoyed his lecture as he makes the content very interesting, though often he gets a little off topic. He is also very helpful is you go to him with questions. The most difficult part is the exams which are not always written to match what is covered in class, very confusing :(
Dr. Smith is a very good teacher but the class is difficult. Do not be fooled by his entertaining lectures; many of the things he says are pertinent and should be taken seriously. He truly made biology fun, but you gotta work for the grade. STUDY HARD!
Seems knowledgeable of the subject but impossible to understand. Very heavy accent. I had to cancel the class because I couldn't understand his english.
the best! So lucky to have him as my bio professor.i always come into his office hours because he's so helpful and knows what hes talking about. take this class seriously and study hard. he makes biology more easier to understand
Really cool guy. Very approachable. Lecture and lab are enjoyable. Tests aren't easy, but pretty much everything on there is covered in his lecture slides or online readings, so just study that. Often relates material to real-life stuff which makes it interesting. One of the best professors I've ever had.
Professor Smith is an outstanding professor. He is there for his students and he wants you to do well in his class. His tests are mostly from his slides so I just study that. Sometimes, you will need the book, but barely. I would take him again if I had too.
Take this professor. You will have to work for your grade, but he treats you as an adult. Many professors lack that quality. He is fun, and not boring. His tests can be hard as he will ask you to recall terms with no word bank, and the questions can sometimes be vague. Work hard and you will do fine.
Professor Smith is a great professor, he knows the subject well, knows how to cultivate the class, and he has a sense of humor. Utilizes BB by updating the students with information and power-points. However, the tests are hard if you don't study the material well. I was lazy and passed with a C.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER. For Bio 150 you MUST be ready to learn, study, and do work. Its already a tough course but with Professor Smith, he makes it little less painful by cracking jokes and telling helirous life stories along the way. I truly loved his class,so I feel like if you are ready to put in EFFORT, he too will help you and you should pass w/ A
had to W because his tests where ridiculously hard. He means well but he gets off topic a lot and talks about random things. the tests are formatted weird with multiple choice, writing parts and drawings. Im retaking the class with another professor and i have a 98% in the class. we also had extra assignments online on some random college website
He's really nice and everything in lecture covers everything on the exams. Not boring and tells life stories and jokes (relating to the material he's talking about)to make the class less boring. In lab, he goes through what to do and likes to help other students out. It is advised to type notes with a laptop and to write everything he says down..
Tests are fairly easy as long as you listen in lecture. He explains everything so there are no surprises on the exams.
Professor Smith is tough, but FAIR. A lot of people dropped his class while I took it. Start OLI and finish it as u go, take notes in lab/GO to the lab exam review (2), lecture exams r a mix of multiple choice & fill out (gives extra questions-his ONLY form of extra credit). Study textbook emphasizing in what he talks during lecture. B proactive!
take this professor you wont regret it. He makes his lectures entertaining by telling joke and stories so you never get bored and he's actually funny for a teacher. plus he's always kind and in a good mood. he has a bit of an accent but its understandable. grading is reasonable.
Genuinely a nice human being, and a great guy. Not a very good professor however, lectures can be somewhat vague as to the expectations on the test, material that wasn't even covered in class was a major part of an exam. The workload was a nightmare, although this was a summer class, so that plays into it. Overall would not take again.
Actually makes class interesting unlike many boring professors who just read their slides. Pay attention in class and study his slides, and its not too bad. I didn't even buy the book and still did well, tests are completely based on his slides/lectures.
Dr. Smith is a really cool guy! He keeps the class engaged by telling a lot of funny stories, but it's also really easy to get side-tracked. You definitely have to pay attention to the little things because they're important for your test. Also, NO STUDY GUIDE, he wants you to think about questions, not just memorize the answers.
He's a funny professor but when it comes to his lecture exams there are answers where if you study the notes from what he said and from the lecture slides, some of them will be on the exams. Also, he gives a lot of fill in the blanks in his lecture exams. Don't take him especially in the summer.
His class his extremely hard but he will get you will actually learn the material well. He connects everything to the real world and really makes the class interesting. I was only 1 of 3 who passed out of 24 so beware taking him if you really need to do well in the class.
Exams are hard, and are fill in the blank besides multiple choice. He is a funny guy but always gets offtrack. Does not care about people passing, and barely gives study guides.
I have never had to withdraw from a class until I took his. The exams aren't a joke. He calls his second exam "the widow maker." His exams are mostly 10-20% multiple choice and the rest of the 80-90% is all fill in the blank, and there's no word bank, and even if you study all week, good luck, he puts tricky questions on there, too. Terrible.
The worst course I had in my life.
FUNNY and FULL of stories! He is not awful, but totally the opposite. For the tests, all you have to do is review his power points and pay attention. Textbook wasn't really used but gives you more background knowledge. If you studied and know your stuff then you good!My advice: record his lectures! That will certainly help!
Professor Smith is a great teacher, I'm sure. But he covers the surface part of the units and tests us more on depth. He basically says "The sky is blue", and the exams ask us, "why is the sky blue and not purple". I wish he could go more in depth in classes and not go too fast. Other than that, he really knows his material
if you English is not your first language then do not take his class you will fail even though you study hard you wont pass its a lot material that he cover and he don't give any notes, he don't even write on the board. He said just study your slides and your notes to pass the test Forget it nothing come from there "Lab exam is the worst".
Had a great summer semester with dr. Smith. He gives clear lectures, but you MUST take notes on his slides. Take good notes and you won't need to touch the book. Pretty easy going. Fast response by email. dont be afariad to ask if you're confused. Keys to succes here are notes and questions. Test are tough, 60-80% multiple choice 20-40% fill in.
All you have to do for class is listen! Make sure you take notes his exams are mainly based on his lectures which are interesting and sometimes hilarious. He does tend to get sidetracked but sometimes it is relevant. He always summarizes the most important topics and he connects them to help you understand how they're relevant and important.
Very good professor. Though grader but he makes you learn biology not just memorizing
He knows a lot of information for sure but seriously this class is so hard and he makes his class difficult the tests arent a joke I never ever in my entire academic field I have to drop a class until this year specially if you work Full Time forget it dont take his class you will feel so overwhelming
Dr. Smith is extremely funny and very down to earth. However, this is a tough class. You can't just wing it. You need to study the slides and take good notes during lecture if you want to get A's on the exams. For lab, just know that he isn't the one writing the exams, so if you've had him in previous classes, the lab exams are not like his.
Prof Smith is nice, cool, and funny. His class is lecture heavy so be prepared to take notes from what he says... not his slides. He often makes mistakes on what he says about the material and a student would correct him (This happened a lot). This makes me fear that he gave us the wrong information sometimes. Regardless, this class is hard
Hes a great teacher and you have to be willing to listen and come to every class ! If he tells you an assignment is extra credit PLEASE do it ! He will still give you a 0 even though he said its extra credit. He does not give back work !!!! Make sure you study a week and not the day of or night before
He is an amazing person! I really enjoyed his class. He is a very hard grader, i.e no half credit on questions, spelling counts, handwriting and neatness counts. The powerpoints he has are pretty much useless, you really have to pay attention to what he says. He gets frustrated and wastes class time when students cant answer a simple question.
Everything in the test is about he gave in lecture. Read the powerpoint, pay attention in class, and take notes and you'll be ok. When he tells you that a question will be in the exam, it will. Also he always extra-credit questions at the end of the exam. And the final lab exam is optional. I am gonna retake him for Micro
He gives really good lectures and really knows how to explain the material in a way students will understand. Labs are quite tedious and he gets sidetracked, but you still learn. Listen in class because he will give answers to the lab quizzes as he lectures.
Talks too much during class either in both labs and in regular class time. Gets off topic very often. He thinks you will be able to memorize everything taught. He does have compassion for students. u will need to study outside of class a lot or even with a group. Dont take him if u have too much going on with other classes.
You don't get study guides, he doesn't return papers so you have to go see him during office hours, get off topic easily, and horrible subs. Even when you try to get your grade up and talk to him all he says I determine your grade which doesn't help much at all.
If you dont know anything about science like me!! this class will be hard hes a good professor but a hard grader.
Do NOT take this professor at ALL! His tests are extremely difficult and barely gives you enough time to complete the entire thing. The powerpoints aren't very informative and are contradicting his own points. This class is very tough to be a biology 101 class, and if science isn't your thing then STAY AWAY!
I highly recommend to have any other professor, he's a nice guy but is extremely tough when it comes to tests and grading. Doesn't give enough time on tests and powerpoints are useless.
Hard tests and unclear instructions. Nice guy but seems unorganized.
The professor isn't a bad guy but he wasn't built to teach. He isn't aware of how much he makes the students struggle, never explains things when something is questionable, and is not clear with anything. If everyone is struggling he doesn't care he just goes to the next subject. And when he doesn't what to do he'll just throw stuff at you. P A I N
I had a great time with Professor Smith. He is charismatic and funny, makes learning enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, biology is still a science course and requires plenty of effort to do well in the class. I stand by that a professor makes or breaks a class and I looked forward to interacting with Professor Smith during lecture and lab.
He is a very good professor. Lectures and lab are never boring with him, he will make you laugh in every class. His lecture and lab exams are easy as long as you study. He explains everything very well. I suggest you annotate his power points as he teaches and record his lectures and you will pass.
My experience with professor Aubrey smith his grading is very heavy and all he gives is exams not much homework to bump up your grade. he also does not give students there exams back to see what they have got wrong to do better next time. I do not recommend taking him as a professor save your time and money and take another professor.
Aubrey smith is heavy grader when it comes to exams his powerpoint are useless because most of it is not related to the exams. he is nice guy but overall his grading is very poor he does not prepare Students for exams to give them a study guide, if you plan on taking his class make sure that you are good note taker or you will be lost.
He's such a sweet and funny professor! He had a story for everything and taught the concepts very clearly and effectively even in a seven-week course. 10/10 would recommend!
Don't be deterred by the negative reviews here!! Professor Aubrey is an amazing guy. Everything he talks about in lectures & labs will be on the exams verbatim basically. I recommend downloading the PowerPoint he uses each day & taking notes on the slides along with recording lectures & going over both at home. If he repeats something = important.
He is very particular about spelling and gets very sidetracked easily. We know more about his personal life than we ever needed to know.
Despite the negative comments on Professor Smith, he is one of my favorite professors. I will not lie, the class is hard, and you will need to dedicate a LOT of time to studying. You have to go to class if you want a good grade, and if you are into Science, you will love his class. It's work, but I found it worth it.
literally the worst professor i have had, dropped the course because he was so bad
This prof is AWESOME! He is laid back, knows the material, and is funny. His tests are based on his lecture slides. There are no surprises. If he repeats himself, tells you to watch a video, tells you to know something it WILL appear on the test. Take good notes and study the lecture slides and you will earn an A.
He makes the whole class laugh, does get sidetracked at times but that's the fun part. His tests are HARD, but if you take good notes and study you'll be fine. He repeats something = it will be on the exam. No word bank for tests btw
Professor Smith has a specific teaching style, but if you engage with it, the class works well. Read the textbook, take notes, and use resources like Unstuckstudy to prepare - this helped me a lot. Overall, the class is manageable with the right approach.
Prof Smith is a nice guy but gets sidetracked in class, often discussing his own life. He's a tough grader, doesn't provide study guides, and takes off points for spelling. His lectures focus on pictures, making note taking hard. Grades depend on 4 lecture and lab exams, with an optional final to replace the lowest grade. I don't recommend him.
He's really funny, I love his tangents but it's hard to say what to take notes on because of them. the only point of criticism is that he doesn't give study guides and his test are BRUTAL, you have to have an near complete understanding of every topic or you won't get half the tests.
Overall a great teacher, the class consists of 5 Lecture exams (FINAL IS OPTIONAL) and 4 Lab exams(also optional final). He has hilarious tangents, he gets a little distracted tho. Lecture exam is difficult but Lab exams is easy. Loved him as a teacher
Dr. Smith is an interesting professor; he is very knowledgeable and skilled in his profession. His way of teaching is not the best because he talks a lot during class and gets sidetracked most of the time. We missed a whole unit because of that. However, he does offer support outside of the classroom, so I would utilize that.
Professor Smith was honestly such a fun professor, you could tell by the way he teaches that he enjoys teaching microbiology. But sometimes he gets sidetrack during lectures, which makes it harder as a student bc his slides don't rlly explain anything much. tests are fair, quizzes are for labs only, final is optional. id take him if i were you :P
This is the worst professor ever, I would study for the exams for weeks and when the grades were posted I never got above 75! he is a very tough grader, half of the class he talks about his life. we had to study 3 chapter on our own because he got behind. didn't look at 3 lab because he forgot about the plates in the incubator so the bacteria died.
The worst teacher I could have ever had. If you take Bio101 choose another teacher right now. I had to drop the class because the professor doesn't teach well at all.
