shes just sumtin else, at first when i started her class i had little or no interest in chemistry but with constant visit to her office, that changed. She'll always help and advice if you are willing to learn...made an A+
This insturctor is very nice, always willing to help, however; I didn't like that she teaches out of a powerpoint presentation. The powepoint is available on campus cruiser, so why come to class when all she's going to do is read the powepoint? I can do that myslef at home, and I understand it better because I go at my own pace. I wish she spend mo
She is very sweet, and always willing to help. I was disappointed that she reads out of a powerpoint and will only explain things if she stop to ask a question. A lot of times I did not want to ask because I felt I could go back home and read the powerpoint (it was posted on Campus Cruiser.) And really, there is no reason to come to class if all sh
Don't bother.
She is sweet and very kind, but she doesn't explain the material at all so it falls all on the shoulders of the students to figure it out. I wouldn't take her again. Also she doesn't give a lot of extra credit and she doesn't interact with the student. She better get rid of that Powerpoint and start to teach for real
I thought she was very helpful and truly cared about her students. Her powerpoint notes were very clear as were her lectures. She treated us like people and not inferiors. She was very sweet and always greeted us with a big smile and a hello. She knew her stuff and was always willing to help. Her tests were multiple choice and very fair.
She is an awesome teacher. Really nice, super helpful, and very reasonable. She doesn't accept late work whatsoever and picks up homework sorta randomly so attendance is necessary. The extra credit makes it easy for anyone to make an A in her class.
Dr. Lugo is great! She walks students through every equation, every formula until her students understand the concepts. If you do not attend class, you will miss A LOT of valuable insight she has into Chemistry. If you go to class regularly, you can't go wrong. If you are not a Chemistry person, this is the perfect teacher for you!!
She is the best. Great attitude and personality. The tests will be based off the powerpoint presentations. Study them and you will make an A.
Extremely clear professor. She is highly qualified and spends a lot of time on her slides and presentations, and teaches primarily from them. She takes as much time as any student needs to make sure they understand. Curves the tests and offers extra credit on homework...take advantage of that and you can easily make an A
Dr. Lugo is beautiful. She's a good teacher, but more importantly she holds your attention. At least visually.
Yes she is hot but more importantly she is a great teacher. She really cares about her students and tries to help out if you ask. Has extra credit on tests which helps out and homework is harder so if you do the homework the tests will be a piece of cake.
Cool Teacher hard as hell class
Dr. Lugo is FANTASTIC!!! had her for lab and she made it so easy. She didnt just give you the answers she made you work for them, but you ultimatley understood by the end!!! Take her laB!! you wont regret it!!
Dr. Lugo is amazing. She is so enthusiastic about Chemistry and does a fantastic job getting you to love it too. She gives chances for extra credit on exams which really helps. Best professor I've ever had.
Dr. Lugo is an amazing Chem professor. Her teaching style is great and she will make sure you understand the material. For those who complain about the powerpoints, I didnt see any disadvantage since she would have the powerpoints ready to print out before class. If you must take chemistry,TAKE HER!!! She's great! I hate chemistry and still made an A
she is an owful teacher based on her power points ,she is unhelpful don't answer the students questins, no extra cridets at all for every lab you have to prepeare yourself for aquize ofthe aterial you took aweek before and for the one you are prep for th sae day, heavy homworh 50 question for each chapter
I was a chem major until I took her. She found a way to make me dislike something I love.. She is awesome with availability with office hours, but don't try emailing her because it takes days for a response. She is kind but gets mad at you if you offer constructive criticism on how to improve lecture or lab.
I wouldnt say Dr Lugo was a bad teacher, but I do feel like her class is harder than others. My buddy took the same class and in lecture the teacher gave them quizzes, and what was on the quiz was what you would see on the test. Dr Lugo doesnt assign anything other than the sapling homework and the tests. Overall an above average teacher.
Her online mandatory homework is not that hard, it usually has 30 questions a chapter. Her tests are HARD! I love chemistry, but her tests were nothing like the homework. She gives you 50min for each 30 question exam but on the first test over 10 people didn't even finished. Hardest class I have ever taken. DO NOT TAKE HER! I had to drop the course
Dr. Lugo treats her students like kids, she talks to them in childish tones with childish phrases.Very condescending. She's RUDE when you talk to her in private. Her methods are VERY confusing; when you try to get it clarified, she'll only confuse you more. But, I have to say, she at least works out problems, although they don't correlate to tests.
DO NOT TAKE HER! Take someone whom actually has knowledge in chemistry. I was shocked when she told us she has her PhD. Lectures are so boring and she just loves to hear herself talk. Often you find yourself saying please stop talking. You're better off taking someone older with experience and knowledge.
Her office hours are at inconvenient times. After class she tells her students to leave so she can go home, disregarding the fact they had questions. You'll get the feeling she doesn't want to be there. She thinks she's this all good and all loving teacher when she's NOT. She thinks her methods are perfect and incapable of making mistakes.
Cool subject but her teaching style is aweful. Anyone who told her to be herself couldn't have given her worse advice.
She's not anywhere close to my favorite professor but she's not the absolute worst that's out there. She can be unprofessional and sink down to an immature students level. Her homework is very difficult, and doesn't help you with the hard problems. I hate saying it but some people just aren't made to be teachers.
She doesn’t explain the content well. She teaches as if you should already know the information, if so why be in her class? You'll realize you made a big mistake taking her.
Very unclear about directions unless you hound her after class. She is not helpful at all. Rarely replies to emails, doesn't help at all. A very unorganized person.
She goes through the information way to fast. If you ask her to repeat info or to slow down she'll get all frustrated. It's so easy to fall behind at the rate she teaches. She talks so fast. She needs to work on that.
She's a very unorganized professor. Takes multiple weeks to grade reports and she always gives excuses for everything. Stacks of ungraded papers in disarray. She is way too much. Here I thought I was in college but then she starts talking like a kid and asking "who wants stickers" while talking down to us. Just teach the material lady so we can go.
Very unorganized! HW due dates were changed AFTER the due date or the day of. Bad at explaining. I've learned more from Google and Youtube than her. Would not recommend her unless you like teaching yourself. By far the worst instructor I've had in my entire college career. She's not the best teacher. I use to feel bad, but not everyone has talent.
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! We started off with 32 and down to 7!!! She can not convey the material at all. I spent nights in the science center where the TUTORS taught me the material! WOW!!!! I learned NOTHING IN HER CLASS!!!! She needs to go back to teaching at high school. Her intellect & immaturity fits there.
Can barely understand her words as she lectures, goes on without explaining what she does, and the class basically turns into how well you can read the book and learn the material on your own. By far the worst instructor I've ever had in my entire student career.
I was very disappoint in her class. I heard great things, but none of them proved to be anywhere close to true. The subject was hard, no question. But she somehow finds a way to make the material more confusing than it is. Not enough time for tests, high maintenance, very condescending, completely disorganized, judgmental, and a terrible teacher.
I've never complained about an instructor until now. She's not clear at all, she teaches too fast, literally a chapter a day, and seldom responds to emails (when she does its not helpful AT ALL). If you ask her a question outside of her power points she doesn't have the intelligence to answer it (which is scary).I'd never recommend her to an enemy.
Dr.Lugo told her students to come here and make her sound good. Can you say unprofessional and sad? I hate to break her heart, but she is the worst. She doesn't teach nor explain. Yes this is college, but we need someone who can teach the material. Just bc some students in the past have like her, doesn't mean she hasn't always been terrible.
I had no interest what so ever in Chemistry and have struggled in the past. Dr. Lugo was so good at explaining the material in a way that most can understand. She is always very prompt in returning emails and ALWAYS willing to help out. She cares about her students and will help however she can to see them succeed. Cannot recommend her enough!
Please for the LOVE OF HUMANITY, do NOT take her!! She is by far the worst teacher I have EVER had. Her lectures are extremely fast and confusing. I am a STRAIGHT A student and I LOVE Chemistry, but I HATED her! She cuts students off when you ask for help. Not willing to help anyone. I got an A in her class only because I taught MYSELF. Nightmare!!
She's not a good prof. Talked to us like children and very confusing. I got tutored by a guy in my class and he explained it better than her.I barley passed.I almost didn't pass because she refused to have office hours and help us the day of the final which was 15% of the grade, she said technically I don't have to have office hours now. Terrible
Overall, she put in a decent effort, but I see areas that have room for improvement. Consider making your office hours more broad, meaning on different days in the morning/afternoon/evening allowing students with conflicting schedules the same opportunity for help. Most importantly, stop holding office hours in the SLC. We talk. It's not helpful.
I can tell she tried really hard to help students. But she often digressed from lecture talking about arbitrarily unnecessary things. Dissolving much valuable time for student discourse; focusing only on important things such as student learning. Students will appreciate it. I can't recommend her to anyone until she improves in many areas.

I can't recommend her to anyone until she improves in many areas.
I would really like to give her the highest performance ranking possible but I can't. Because I've found her struggling to articulate the material, confusing herself at times. Often when I or another student asked her questions, her reply would be rather disrespectful/rude by faintly insulting our intelligence. Consider changing your approach here.
I can tell she tried really hard to help students. But she often digressed from lecture talking about arbitrarily unnecessary things. Dissolving much valuable time for content questions. In the future, dissociate valuable lecture time from trivial student discourses and focus only on important things such as student learning.
Her choices in communication are not are not as consistently effective as I would like. EX: It takes her longer to respond to emails than expected. Often over the weekend before a test, she wouldn't respond until Sunday night(test following morning). When she would respond she'd go into good depth but it was vaguely too late. Check emails more freq
I already have my masters and I am back to school for a different major. In my years as a scholar, Lugo is by far the WORST teacher I have ever had. Don't tell me she teaches how to study for college. I am a graduate of TCU so don't give me nonsense about she is good for students who want to study. Simply don't take her! She's the worst ever!
Dr. Lugo can come across as really really condescending. Not in front of the classroom, but it's always in office hours & especially lab. In lab she's tired & easily forgets to watch what she says. Making us feel like less. She doesn't know when she's doing it. You don't want to ask her questions bc you think she might laugh at you. Condescending.
She makes her own power points and they're very beautiful and clear! her lectures weren't helpful. She went too fast covering way too much. You end up putting yourself on autopilot. She'll slow down when asked but if she falls behind schedule she gets mad. Falling behind schedule shouldn't matter if students are understanding the material better.
My advice to you to better your class:1)With ALL due respect, stop talking to us in childish ways. I'm NOT saying change your personality just limit it & don't put it down our throats.2) Please slow down.3)STAY PROFESSIONAL. Often you acts like a student.4)you're sweet but often are condescending. Work on these & you'll be great. NO ONE is perfect.
She tries. She really does. That's what makes this hard to say, but it's constructive. Good teachers will appreciate it to better them. At times you act as if you don't want to be there or care. You rush. You've talked down to us several times(I know you don't mean to but you still do it). You also whine A LOT, making you sound like your students..
She's not a good prof. Talked to us like children and very confusing.I got tutored by a guy in my class and he explained it better than her.I barley passed.I almost didn't pass because she refused to have office hours and help us the day of the final which was 15% of the grade, she said technically I don't have to have office hours now. Despicable
She grades incredibly hard on the lab reports. And we hardly ever had enough time to finish them. A lot of the questions in the lab reports are so hard only a chemist with some years of experience would be able to answer them. Not someone taking Gen Chem 1 !!!!!!! If asked she would help with lab question though -- but every question was intense.
You're crazy for taking her class. She can be nice, however, you must live chemistry and love frenetic note taking. I switched campuses because I refused to take her for chem 2. In her defense, you will learn some chemistry. You have no choice or fail. Her class wasn't a positive learning environment and I would never take her again! WARNING
Dr Lugo first of all is an amazing professor one of the best at tcc in my opinion. Yes her class requires you to work but its freaking chemistry, of course it's going to be hard and she is MORE than willing to help you as much as you need. Highly Recommend her. Got a A, Future scientists transferring to a university, this is the chem class to take!

By far my favorite professor at TCC. Chemistry is a VERY hard subject, but it's very possible to make an A. Her powerpoints ARE her test. If you study them left & right then you'll pass. Her labs and online hw is pretty tough, but if you ask questions she'll be more than happy to help. I made an A and was sad to leave her class. She is amazing!!!
Poor time management skills in lecture. Doesn't give students the entire class period to take exams and lectures over new material before every exam. Lacks the ability to inspire students. Grades way too stern on lab reports-you teach yourself. She's nice, but not a teacher i would recommend to people who want to learn the subject.
I honestly don't know what so many of the people on here are talking about. I took Dr Lugo over the summer and she was super helpful, clear on what we needed to learn, and never condescending. She's tied for my number 1 favorite professor. she's tough and chemistry is hard, but you will definitely learn in this class. Take her!
She grades pretty hard on lab reports, and it was always very confusing exactly what we were doing in for the lab even if you read the lab itself. The book is terrible. She uses power points and uses every second of class time. The tests were HARD. This was the only class I took and studied it religiously and I still had a very hard time. Run Run.
If you are looking for an easy grade, this is not the class for you. She does grade hard but if you don't do well its because you didn't practice hard enough. Every assignment is very doable. She is awesome at lectures. She will give you analogies all day long that make you understand. Practice, practice, practice. She is AWESOME.
This Professor will make chemistry for the layman. She is very helpful; she will uses examples that make chemistry fun and interesting. That being said, you will have to study, study, study. this will be a informative class if you are ready to learn about chemistry. She is AWESOMENESSSS.
I didn't like her style or approach for teaching at all. I made a B and had to study everyday just to get that, which i'm fine with that grade. I'm definitely NOT taking her for 1412 though; not recommending her either. Very hard tests. Hard lab. You'll spend alot of time on the HW. Most problems in HW arent even covered in class.
I don't know why she has so many bad ratings. She is by far the best Chem teacher I have come across. She really knows her stuff and is very supporting to her students. Chem is hard in general and she wont give anything away for free but she is very fair and nice. Very professional and helpful. I would recommend to anyone. Bonus points on tests.
Great teacher, it's just that the tests are killer and the lab is really confusing if you can't keep up to the fast pace.
Dr. Lugo is a wonderful Chemistry instructor. Understand that Chem is hard, in general, so most people have to really work at it to do well in it. Dr. Lugo knows how to teach and she makes it interesting and fun. You can tell she has a passion for it. She is also very supportive to students. If you're serious about chemistry, take her.
Homework is Sapling so that's whatever. Lectures are PowerPoint driven and non explanatory/helpful. Tests are ridiculous with ZERO review given, no extra credit. All equations/formulas must be memorized, she expects C and D letter grades on tests. DO NOT TAKE HER unless it's your one and only class as she expects 4-6 hrs a day devoted to study.
Dr. Lugo is the best teacher so far. Remember that Chem is not an easy class but she is always willing to help her students and she is just amazing. I am so surprised to see that her rating is so low. She does give extra credit, but they are in the tests she gives. If you are willing to study and love chemistry, you can even make an A+ . TAKE HER
BEST TEACHER EVER. Hard class but she makes it fun. You have to study but hey it's a freaking biology class for majors. I love her class so much. She answers any question. Great teacher and really cares about her students.
Chemistry is a very hard class - let's not kid ourselves. This is a teacher that forces you to learn. Homework and labs are arduous but force you to learn your stuff. She is very kind and patient and does exactly what she is required to do. She is a bit anal about rules and will rarely bend, but she's got the logic to back it up.
She is the best! She is an amazing professor and know what she is teaching! Took her for chem 1 and 2 and I would had taken her if she taught organic chem. Chemistry with her is fun! She answers all the questions you have and is always there for her office hours! Tests are her power points. If you master the power point you will ace the test!
How can the best teacher at TCC have such a low rating? I can't believe it! She is an amazing professor, knows what she is teaching and will help you with everything you will need. Yeah labs are long and you will need time to complete them, but she will be there for you(or SLC). Tests are her powerpoints, gives extra credit! She's the best! "STUDY"
Dr Lugo is great! Chem is hard but she tries to make it simple. I had trouble in this class but I'm not the mathiest of people. You CANNOT procrastinate! Lots of homework and she teaches very fast but has to. She tuly is a refreshing change to the normal chem teacher. Start strong so you have wiggle room and you'll be fine through the harder stuff
One of the best professors I've had in my life. This class was really hard and I've always struggled with math related classes, but I soon went to her and told her about my struggles. She was very helpful and gave me lots of tips. She really cares about her students and their success. Her classes are very crowded, but she knows everyone by name.
Just so you know all the bad reviews are most likely from TABS students (the High School at TCC). They got mad that she actually made them learn. The previous teacher gave them 50 point curves for no reason. I talked to several of them about it. She's actually a wonderful teacher. She's extremely helpful and her lectures are really clear.
lugo is amazing, its a tough subject but if you attend her class and study you will know what you need to know to pass. she has 4 homework assignments scattered through out the semester so its done on your own time (great for working people). test are simple 30 question multiple choice. don't recommend going full time when taking this class.
Dr. Lugo is a great chemistry teacher. She makes sure you understand and expects you to participate in class even if its not for a grade. Lectures are extremely thorough and lab is as usual. Her powerpoints include practice problems and she is easily accessible during office hours for help. Great teacher overall.
I still think she is the best teacher I have had so far. She is well organized, cares about her students and loves to teach. Her PowerPoints are her test. Read carefully the lab manual, usually the answers are there or in her lab PowerPoints. I would highly recommend to attend her office hours. You ROCK Dr. Lugo! Thank you for your awesomeness!!
The professor teaches a good class but puts too much on the power points. The sapling hw is very hard and no opportunity to do better. Prepare to spend 12 hours a week outside of class studying.
One of the best teachers that I have ever had. I wish I could take her for every class. This is a science class so obviously one has to study hard but she makes the subject seem easier. She is extremely caring. you can go talk to her anytime and she will help you out. I love her.
Dr. Lugo was amazing at the start of the semester, but things started to go down hill when we got behind in the semester and had to rush to cover it. Beware Wed lab she moves the exams back on your day and does not care if there is already an exam for lab that day. The homework questions are too much. The textbook is hardly of use. Never again.
Dr. Lugo is amazing!!! Chemistry is a tough subject but Dr. Lugo explains everything at its best. Dr. Lugo's teaching style is awesome!! There are 4 homework assignments, that have many questions, but are worth it because they helped so much when it came to taking tests.
Dr. Lugo is a great teacher, she is kind, caring, and is amazing in lectures. She doesn't give reviews for her lecture tests, but the sapling is pretty much the review, she does give reviews for the lab tests, which are free-response (so she can give partial credit). Her PP are amazing and if you just go to class she explains it all in simple terms
She is awesome. If you do your homework, you will understand the material and no need long time to study for the test. In fact, I only spend around 30 minutes before every test and get a good grade. This is college, guy. If you are not study, you will receive bad grade, so blame yourself, don't blame the professor, duh!
Dr. Lugo is the most amazing teacher EVER! I took her for both Chem 1411 and 1412. The class is hard, but she will make you fall in love with chemistry! Sapling is a much, and go to the SI sessions. She does not bend on her rules, but she loves her students and really wants everyone to be successful in her class. Utilize her office hours. LOVE HER!
She's great!
Gen Chem 2 is a difficult math-heavy subject and so much harder than 1411. Lab is worth too little for the amount of work you do. Sapling HWK felt like an obstacle, not complementary to learning. Bonus q's on on lec tests are your extra credit, which are very hard! Tro book doesn't help with the Equilibrium. SLC/her office hours is what saved me.
Chem is hard overall. But Dr Lugo is THE ABSOLUTE BEST. She goes the extra mile to make it easy for you to learn. She makes songs, rhymes and gives you tricks for memorizing stuff. She is a tough grader but she is organized and her PPWs are all you need. You have to work to earn your A but if you put in the effort you will be fine.
Dr. Lugo is a great teacher. She goes through the material fast, so look over the powerpoint before class. Also, do the homework as soon as you get out of class. What you get on the homework reflects what you get on the test. If you have questions or don't understand something go to her and she will help during office hours. (Read labs do prelab!
Professor Lugo is so sweet and kind. Having her as a professor makes a difference. Class is hard but if you don't understand something go to her office hours and she will do everything she can to help.
I had Dr. Lugo for general chemistry 1 and I absolutely loved her. She is incredibly nice and is always willing to help you and make sure you understand the material. Her office hours are super helpful and her passion and constant encouragement makes taking her class fantastic.
This class is impossible to do well in if you don't spend 4-6 hours doing it every single day. I took this online as campus was closed for Covid and her video lectures were long and heavy. You have to do end of chapter problems and Sapling. So much Sapling. Lugo is kind, gentle, and encouraging. She as a human is amazing. Chemistry is not.
I took this class online because of COVID. This class was HARD. Especially since I'm not very good at math. There was SO MUCH sapling homework, but lab was ok. I did need to contact her frequently for HW help, but every time she was super sweet, caring and patient. Hands down the best professor I've ever had. She made this class doable. 10/10.
Dr. Lugo is the best professor I have ever had! She teaches very well, has the BEST ppts, and gives out lots of homework for you to practice. There is a lot of math, so it might be difficult. If you want to learn chemistry, don't mind putting in 3-5 hours of hmwk/lab each week, and want to have fun, TAKE HER! Only negative is she gets behind a lil!
Dr. Lugo is the perfect college professor. She's friendly, personable, and wants to help. She has plenty of advice and personal anecdotes on how to be a successful STEM student. She teaches her courses at the university level, so transferring to a university from her class is a seamless transition.
Great professor that I had to take her again for Chem 1412 because I knew that I would learn and pass her class again. I love her lectures compared to other professors. She knows exactly what she's talking about and knows how to explain it to her students. There is a lot of homework but that is really how you master the material for the tests.
Professor Lugo is great she is caring and truly wants you to learn. She posts her lectures from COVID as an extra resource in case you missed any material,I still would recommend going to lecture because this can be a difficult class.I got a B but I think an A is definitely achieve-able if you put in the time and effort.
I took this class in 2018. At first I had doubts about this class because of the ratings but after the classes started it turned out to be one of the best classes that I ever took. Dr. Lugo is helpful and goes out of her way to help her students. I recommended a lot of my friends to take her class for CHEM 1411 and they also liked her class.
I loved Dr. Lugo! She is so funny and charming, being in class with her every day is a treat. She makes the difficult world of chem seem a lot more fun and easier than it is. It is a lighter course load than what a science class normally is. Just be sure to show up and do the work and you'll be golden.
Dr Lugo is very sweet and you can tell she cares for every one of her students. Her material is very hard tho. If you are taking other classes along her Chem class you have to study so much in this one. There are 4 lecture exams, 2 lab exams, and then the lecture final. There are no reviews for the test , she will say the homework is your review.
I took her for chem1&2. You will never find a professor that's more caring & understanding as her. she's clearly passionate about teaching. She will inspire you. She's also open to talk to outside of class if you would want to learn from her experience. She doesn't only teach you chemistry, she would make you strive to become a better student. Best
She's been my favorite prof so far, despite gen chem being a hard class she does her best to make it manageable. There is a decent amount of hw to however Dr. Lugo makes sure you understand important concepts. She gives you a lot of resources to learn and she's always really helpful during office hours.
Dr. Lugo is a fantastic professor who genuinely cares about her students. The course can be challenging, but her helpful lectures and availability during office hours make it manageable. Utilizing resources like Unstuck ai and the textbook are key to success.
I loved Dr.Lugo!! She is an amazing teacher. Listen to her tips and the topics she tells you are important because they are most likely on the exam. As long as you show up to the lecture and do your homework on time, you will pass the exam! The homework set you up for success. I also recommend reading the lab procedures before going to the lab.
The class was definitely challenging but Dr Lugo made it less stressful. She is very organized with her notes and open to any questions or comments. She's definitely a good professor I personally have no complaints
