if you have to take ACC382 for business minor, take it with Cook. book/access code is expensive but needed. 2 tests are pretty difficult, open note open book, but i didn't do very well on them and still got a B thanks to the homework and extra credit. Other reviews for this professor can be found by searching for Audrey Berglund
Pretty straightforward class. Open note and book and a lot of resources to help you do well on the tests. The only downside is that there is parts throughout her lectures where her voice literally makes you want to throw your computer across the room. No joke, it's to the point that the lecture is almost unbearable.
Online homework and prep reading questions due every week. Unlimited attempts or allow you to check if your answers are correct. The combined homework is a quarter of your grade. The majority of the grade is exams, but her study outlines are great. The exams are a mix of multiple choice and open ended mimicking in class assignments. Good prof
2 exams (100 pts each), 6 hw assignments (132 pts total) and 24 ec pts. Took Session B, and hw didn't start till after midterm (week 5-7). Exams can be tricky do the hw and extra credit and you'll be fine. She responds to email quickly also. Both Textbooks are expensive, read them. Dedicate time for weeks 5-7, class progresses in difficulty.
People have mentioned that you should read the textbooks, but I had no issues with just the lectures. There's an expensive access code during the second half as people mentioned, but you can use the 14-day trial and get all the relevant work done to avoid paying! Tests are open note. Take good notes and ctrl+f during the tests. It's that simple
As long as you attend class, review every in-class activity and kee doing homework and chapter prep until you recieve full credit on both, you should not have a hard time passing this class. She's a very caring professor and is great at communicating with her students.
Fairly difficult class. It is super easy to fall behind since it's online at your own pace but if you don't read the book or watch the lectures you can probably get a C still. First half is solely the midterm but second half has homework and extra credit every week and then the final. Only if you're willing to put in work, then take this class
The tests are open book, notes and you can even use a web browser for ebooks. She's helpful and responsive to questions. Biggest problems are two tests make up 60% of your grade and there's a $140 access code for the homework. There's a lot of extra credit available though, and Cook is a good, responsive professor for questions. Would take again!
Also Audrey Berglund. Lectures can be tedious (I played them at 2x). Financial acct (1st half) textbook unnecessary, managerial acct (2nd half ) online access required. If 14d free trial doesn't work, can return within 10 days. Answers to homework provided and can be re-submitted unlimited times. Tons of extra credit, helpful for padding. Easy A+!
The class progresses in difficulty. Two exams, open note open book. Six homework assignments with unlimited attempts. It was a tough subject for me, but she gives plenty of extra credit and resources to succeed. Don't fall behind, and do the extra credit and it's easy to get an A.
She gives great in class examples that reflect the weekly quizzes and the exams. As long as you go back and rework all the homework, notes, and quizzes the class is fairly easy. Her grading is fair and gives partial credit for a lot of stuff if you should work.
Read the text & watch the lectures/examples, pay attention well to the concepts & you will be fine. She answers questions quickly & gives extra credit & curves one of the exams at the end. The test is tough but is open book so that helps a lot! HW has unlimited attempts but don't procrastinate on it keep up, the material gets harder but manageable.
ACC382 with Cook was a bit more challenging than I hoped simply because the homework take a long time to go through. They are rather repetitive, and felt like a waste of time. But if you simply do the homework and all the EC on time, and use Control F on the open note midterms, it's an A.
My issue really isn't about Prof. Cook, since there is little actual interaction with her. The class must have changed from the other reviews because there is 2-3 homeworks (20 pnts each) weekly and the majority of your grade comes from the midterm and final (500 pnts). Read the chapters. Most of the two tests questions were about random stuff.
Took this class for a business minor and loved it! Accounting is fun with professor Cook, there's a lot of reading but it's a good, well written textbook. Exams are open note. P.S. She was very accommodating with due dates when I had a medical emergency during the semester!
There is homework for each chapter and it is due every Sunday. You have three attempts per question, basically, you get 100% on every homework. Exams are like the hand outs, no tricks. Very good professor1
A very kind soul! I liked this class a lot, it was interesting and applicable. The lectures were perfect. The homework helped me solidify what I'd learned. Finally, there was extra credit (26 out of 741 points) and she ended up curving the midterm by 30 points (Extra 4% of total grade). 2 Exams worth 250/741pts each (With RPNow), the rest is HW.
I LOVED HER CLASS! She is an amazing teacher who genuinely wants her students to succeed. Her lectures are very helpful &relevant. There is a lot of homework but you have several chances & if you pay attention you'll find the answers. Pay attention during class & do the work and you'll be fine. I had her during COVID19 and actually missed her class
Mrs. Cook genuinely cares about your success in her class and is willing to help if needed. There is a good amount of homework but you get 3 attempts a question and prep/take-home assignments that are basically graded for completion. Very thorough lectures and easy projects. I highly recommend her for ACC 232!
Nice professor, but the class is pretty difficult. I studied so much for the first two exams we have taken and havent got good grades on them because the wording of the exams is extremely confusing, not luck like the practice tests, chapter reviews, etc. Try to take someone else if you can.
She's a great teacher and her lectures are extremely helpful (especially when she goes over Activities). Stay on top of the videos and HW! Make sure you understand the activities and all of the exam prep! You can take each exam twice. Tbh the SI sessions with Autumn Begay are the ABSOLUTE BEST and I can't stress enough how helpful she is!
Very helpful if you need help. ACC231 is a little tough if you don't pay attention, but she tries to engage you as much as possible.
Helpful and organised, tests can be difficult but are fair. HW was online and formatted very well.
Probably one of my favorite professors so far at ASU. The lectures that she posts are really helpful when it comes to studying for the exams, and she presents the information really well in class. Oh and she also drops one exam, so that's cool too.
Cook is the best prof I have had at ASU. Accounting is a difficult subject but she makes it manageable. Her prep assignments and homework prepare you for the material. Exams are definitely challenging but she does curve usually 10 points. Shes so willing to answer questions in lecture and the textbook is definitely not requiredjust the online.
Always willing to answer questions , Always responds to emails and is super nice. One prep assignment each week and one homework assignment each week. Three exams and one final, lowest exam was dropped and to Lowest homework assignments were dropped. open note test for online circumstances due to COVID.
Really caring professor. She wants you to do well and provides you with the material needed to pass her exams. She does offer extra credit which helps a lot .I would definitely recommend taking this class with this professor she is very helpful.
Professor Cook is amazing! She truly cares about her students. You have to do a lot of the learning on your own (at least for my class we did), but she does weekly activities and helps with the weekly homework. We got to use notes for our tests which was super helpful. Overall, great content and great class. You must put in the work to succeed.
Just had to leave a review for Prof. Cook cause she's just so amazing. Super great Prof who has good lectures and gave out extra credit. She also has a dropped exam from exams 1-3. Does make you work for it as tests are NOT EASY, but we could also use notes so that helped. Overall great Prof that makes accounting fun when you put in the work.
Amazing professor! She lets you use notes on test and gives a lot of extra credit. It would be seriously hard to fail her class. But there is a lot of work outside of class, but doing it pays off!
Dr. Cook is a fantastic professor! Very clear about the assignments, opportunities for EC (including curving tests), and excellent structure for learning material. Tests were through the lockdown browser, but handwritten notes were allowed. She also provides practice tests and activities to get students further acquainted with material.
As long as you do the work, you will get a good grade in her class. She is incredibly helpful and cares a lot about teaching her students
Boring but you can't really make accounting fun. She is super nice and let me retake the final when I forgot about the date. However, tests don't really reflect the homework and studying doesn't help. Get tutoring regardless of the professor you choose.
TAKE HER CLASS. Seriously the best professor I've had at ASU. She is so organized, her lectures are perfect, she is accessible outside of class. She offers extra credit and curves exam. She really goes out of her way to make things as straightforward for students as possible and genuinely cares about her students. She is incredible
Honestly, this class is not an easy A. If you don't study a good amount and fall behind, you will struggle immensely with this class. Her class time on zoom only involves doing homework and the SI sessions honestly helped more for her tests. She's still a good teacher and option for ACC 231 and I wouldn't want somebody else.
This class has a ton of tests (open-note and two attempts) and is not easy whatsoever but Professor Cook helps by offering tons of extra credit and curving all the tests. She doesn't really teach in class so unless you are able to self study all the material, don't take this class with her on ASU Sync.
Professor Cook creates slides and videos based on the textbook and all of the tests are open note, including the final. You do have to handwrite the notes because typed/printed notes are not accepted, and some weeks have a lot more notes than others, but overall super easy and the tests are straightforward. If you do the notes, you will pass.
Cook is an extremely understanding, intelligent, and kind professor that truly wants to see all of her students succeed. SI lectures made taking the tests and understanding the lectures even easier. Overall, this was a class I was absolutely dreading, but it ended up being a guaranteed A (as long as you take the time to learn).
AMAZING PROFFESSOR! I failed this same class the previous semester with a different prof. and so glad I signed up for her class! This class was through zoom but she was super helpful with the lectures/notes. Lots of HW assignments, 3 exams, and 1 project. This class was not easy at all but I was able to get a solid A.
Cook is the best professor I've had at ASU. Her detailed lectures are super helpful. There's no Curve for this course. BUT! We're allowed to take exams twice (include final) and drop an exam (Except for final exam). Exams are super easy as long as you watch all the materials she gave. Tons of EC quiz which are super easy. I end it with 101.23%.
Participation was key to earning points in this class aka you have to be at every meeting and speak. If an individual did not understand the concept and was called on she would dock attendance points. The homework was easy and clear to understand, but the exams were quite difficult. Overall it was a decent class but I wouldn't attend again.
This prof has her stuff together! Has thorough knowledge of the subject and knows exactly how to explain it. Lectures very well structured and clear. Gives us everything we need to pass. Exams are kind of difficult (68 class avg), but we get a note card and there are no curveball questions. Wish she taught more classes, I learned so much!
She is just amazing. Knows exactly how to explain concepts (I had no previous accounting knowledge). very little homework but gives you all the resources you need to succeed. A notecard is allowed on exams and she tells you things during class you should have on it. I got 100 on both of our midterms. The final is not comprehensive.
Like many of the professors at ASU, Professor Cook expects you to teach yourself because god forbid you have a life outside of her class! You can skip class because you have to teach yourself everything. Tests are overly wordy and hard this is the most difficult gen ed Ive ever taken. Accounting shouldnt be as hard as she makes it.
Cook is a great accounting professor! She really takes her time to walk the class through a unit in a very detailed way. I actually learned a lot in this class. There are three midterms and a final. You can drop one of the midterms. Final is not cumulative. There is one project at the beginning of the class but it helps you understand things.
Audrey is a decent teacher who will make a tedious topic like accounting not that bad. She is pretty good at teaching.
Amazing, can't explain how awesome this prof is. She has super clear and easy to follow lectures and answers every question. Weekly homework and reading quizzes but they are super easy if you have even a slight understanding of the topic. Three exams and 1 final (drops an exam- not final) If you can take her really really try to.
Outlines exactly what you have to do to be successful. Lectures and homework are exactly like exam. Is extremely responsive outside of class and wants everyone to do well. If you go to class and study you will do well! Best professor I have ever taken at ASU.
tests are so difficult but her lectures are honestly really interesting. she also goes through test questions at the end of every chapter in class for practice. homework isn't that bad (2 assignments/week). you get a note card for tests but you still need to study.
One of my favorite professors I've taken so far at ASU. The lectures are easy to follow, and the quizzes and assignments are actually relevant to the exams(similar questions on all). You're allowed one notecard for the exams and she tells you what to put on it. Take her for ACC231 if you can!
Very good and engaging prof. Lecture slides are posted pre class, and that's what lectures are based around. Quizzes and homework have multiple tries and not too hard if you pay attention. There is a textbook, but IMO if you go to all the classes and take notes you'll be fine.
Although accounting can be difficult, Profesor Cook does a great job of fully explaining each topic in depth. I recommend her class for sure but also suggest you show up.
Cook made passing ACC231 very easy and doable. Three exams (one dropped), a final, and weekly quizzes and homework assignments, plus extra credit! Exams and final are through Respondus, but nothing else is proctored. All of the assignments and exams are done through Canvas, so attending lectures isn't mandatory. Great prof!
Cook made learning accounting easy. She is one of the best professors at ASU, IMO. If you can, take ACC231 With her!!!! All assignments, including exams, arent too hard because she allows you to have a note card!!
Cook is an amazing professor. To succeed in this class you need to show up to the lectures, attendance is not mandatory but you need to force yourself to go!! There are in-class activities that you especially have to be there for, they usually happen once a week. If you put in the effort you will do good in this class.
The average grade on the tests in this class is a D. She doesn't actually teach, and the homework is not prep for the exams. This class is self taught and if you have never seen the material before, plan to get a regular tutor. Even the SI sessions are not targeted to the exams, which will make or break the grade.
TAKE MRS. COOK IF YOU CAN! She allows a notecard on the exams, a dropped test and hw assignment, and gives lots of extra credit at the end. Her lectures explain everything starting from the basics, especially for someone who has never done anything with acct before. Make sure to attend class, especially the first few weeks.
Audrey was a good professor. Definitely would recommend to anyone. Im terrible at accounting and passed her class with an A. She also drops an exam score which helps.
Prof Cook is a great professor!! She is great at teaching and genuinely wants to help her students. All of her lecture slides are available on canvas, so technically you don't have to show up to class. She also gives extra credit opportunities at the end of the semester which is super helpful.
Professor Cook is a fun teacher. I actually enjoyed accounting very much. She teaches you exactly what you need to know in order to be successful on your homework/ quiz assignments and to do well on your exams. Take her, you'll learn a lot!
Accounting is a very hard class, but professor cook teaches it very well. The best accounting professor I've had. Her lectures and style of teaching makes it as easy as possible to understand. All this being said, accounting is extremely hard and you will have to work hard to do good.
I was in ACC 231 and it was my worst experience I wouldn't recommend taking this class ever
Professor Cook is amazing! She is very accessible even for her iCourse students. She provides excellent lectures, study guides, and everything you need to be successful in her class. She also curves her exams! I had some serious health problems during the semester and she was so accommodating and caring. If you have the chance, take her class!
The class itself wasnt too bad, if youre doing it online then she assigns 3-6 he assignments a week. Study for the tests, the hw/quiz is a good resource to use. Get to know the actual content bc the math calculations were simpler to figure out if you look at her slides.
One of the best professors I have had. Clear and descriptive about the topics learned and has an amazing lecturing style. She doesn't assign much homework so it was a bit difficult to gage where I stood in the class and how I was doing but overall you can tell she is knowledgable about what she teaches and is available to help if still confused.
Attendance is not mandatory but is necessary to know what you are doing in class and how to prepare for upcoming tests. She is slightly boring for me but is precise and clear on the material. You have to take notes ahead of time and catch up after class if need be. Make sure to take practice exams and go to SI office hours to pass!
Cook is a really great professor. The material is difficult and confusing but she always takes time to explain thoroughly and make sure we understand.
she is the best. Take it with her.
At first I didn't really like Mrs Cook, but now I really do! Accounting is one of those classes you really have to apply yourself to because it's a difficult subject. Use the slides she posts on Canvas and do the activity workbook in class! Tests are basically open note because they're online so take advantage of that and do all the homework!
The class itself is pretty difficult regarding concepts but Cook makes it accessible and is helpful in general.
Class is tough itself with confusing material but she does a great job in helping to explain concepts.
Professor Cook is one of the best professors, she is very knowledgeable and is always willing to help students. Exams are challenging, but she does her best to prepare you for them. Accounting is a very hard class so be ready to put in a lot of work, but I would definitely recommend taking her.
Professor Cook's class was interesting, just put in the work & the class should be able to be passed. What I liked about it is that she introduced us to important topics in accounting that are used in the real world. Her slide lectures are long, but they're interesting and easy to understand.
Personally, this class felt pretty straightforward. The reading quizzes were really easy and great for keeping my grade up. The exams didn't match the homework all the way, but if you read the uploaded slides and understand the concept logically you'll start to get it. It's not an easy class but super doable. Bonus: sometimes gave out candy.
One of the best professor I've had so far. Lectures are not mandatory but she does a great job explaining everything in a very understandable way. The homework and quizzes are very easy with 3 attempts allowed for each. Note cards are allowed on the tests and she assigns a practice exam that really helps prepare you for the exam. Would recommend.
Professor cook made ACC 231 seem a little less miserable than it actually was. Class was not mandatory but she did do random in-class extra credit opportunities to motive students to go. She was super sweet and would 100% take her again for ACC 241 or any other class if I could!
I absolutely hate accounting, but professor cook made this class as fun as she can make accounting be. If you come to class and take notes, you will be fine. She clearly goes through every lecture and makes the material make sense by comparing it to outside world stuff. Definitely recommend taking her class.
I thought that her lectures were very informative. She is great at explaining the material as well as answering questions. There are paper worksheet which she fills out with the class and it helps a lot with understanding the material from the slides and getting practice before the exams. She also offers extra credit every now and then.
Easy to get a good grade if you do the assigned homework and take notes. She gives you two attempts on tests.
Besides 300/520 points for the class being for exam grades, I enjoyed taking her class. Attendance isn't required but she randomly gives extra credit worksheets in class without notice. Homework and 2 "quizzes" due each week. Exam prep is a practice exam. Exams are taken on lockdown browser. Very manageable class, but just very exam heavy!
The course material in ACC 231 sucks. Prof. Cook made it a bit better by providing many opportunities for extra credit if you attend the in-person lectures, which aren't mandatory (I earned >3% in extra credit). Super exam-heavy course, with ~ 58% of the grade based on exam scores. Some homework/quiz scores are dropped. Ample opportunity to succeed
Professor Cook was a fantastic professor. She made sure to teach information that was relatable to homework, quizzes, and tests as well. If you read the chapters assigned to understand the theory of things, study how to solve problems, and review the slides given, you can pass this course with an A. I would retake her if I could!
Great professor. Lectures are very clear about what you need to know and what it means. Explains concepts clearly and uses anecdotes from her career. Attendance isn't taken.
Professor is very knowledgeable and does a good job communicating the topics. Attendance is not mandatory, but is helpful and there are some extra credit opportunities offered in class. There are weekly homework assignments and quizzes. Tests are online with respondus and you are given two attempts in case you run into any technical difficulties.
Made the class material easy to understand and the exams are simple if you go to lectures. Uninteresting class made tolerable by a really solid professor.
10/10 love this professor! Her material and lectures are very well organized, she drops a few iclickers and homework assignments. Just attend her lectures and finish your work on time and an A+ is guaranteed. The only thing I didn't like was that she wouldn't round up grades but honestly, the other pros outweighed this con.
TAKE HER RIGHT NOW. Her lectures were easy to understand as long as you pay attention, and she only assigns 3 short homework assignments each week. For tests just to her online practices, and study the worksheet packet she gives you that you do in class.
Class is boring
Professor Cook is a great instructor, it is clear she cares a lot about her students and getting them engaged with accounting. There is a lot of reinforcement of the material, making it easy to stick. There are only 3 exams and no final, the homework was easy to get 100 on. She even offered snacks every Monday. 10/10 would take again
The exams are tough! It's easy to get 100% on every homework assignment. There are 3 exams (all are online). Professor Cook is nice. But you must study your life away for this class as it's pretty hard for gen ed. I barely passed this class with a C. GO TO CLASS! She uses a paper workbook to teach and she does iclicker.
If you want to do well in an accounting course, I highly recommend you take Prof Cook! A highly organized instructor who wants her students to succeed. She provides her students with multiple resources to help them prepare for exams. There are three exams in total and no final! Homework is very easy, and you get up to 2 attempts.
Teacher is honestly pretty good/chill. As someone who isn't good at math this was made fairly easy. However don't be a silly BAKA like me and skip class because "me tired me hungry". ATTENDANCE=GRADED! Test are lowkey(like lowest of keys) hard but study y you're chill. I got a C+ because of ATTENDANCE(Hate Iclicker) and because of bad first exam.
Asian Bryan's review - The assignments were fine, the study guides that I studied for had nothing on the exams or maybe that is just me but thats the thing. She teaches very well and understanding in class but the exams are just trash.
The teacher was fine, lectures were boring. Exams were complete bs. Like another commenter said, you have to study your life away for this class. The Exams are extremely hard. Highly recommend attending class, and don't use any online help on any assignments. Do those that will really help your understanding of the concepts for the exam.
Mrs. Cook taught a very difficult class very well, ensuring there was enough lecture time of reach topic and even giving out sweets and stuff. Accounting 232 is still a hard class, so I STRONGLY recommend reading the material.
Professor Cook is beyond sweet. Her lectures are very organized and easy to follow. Attendance is mandatory, but she makes it worth your while. There is a lot of information, so be prepared to take notes and pay attention. Exams are difficult even if you believe you have a good grasp on the material. Overall, Professor Cook is great, highly rec.
Class in general was a little bit difficult. Professor was good at showing examples and the notes were easy to follow along.
