A very good teacher. She is always on top of things and explains the material well. She provides extra credit on each test which is very easy. Do the all the extra credit and you will get 10 pts extra on each test! Excellent!

Though she's a bit dry, I loved her interactive "Jeopardy" style review which allowed extra credit to be earned for tests. Great class - much better than BIOL 1308! I learned a whole lot & enjoyed more than I ever thought I would.

Mrs. Shanks is highly organized, pleasant, and prepared. I enjoyed her personal stories that were parallel to the course content. She teaches this class with an outline format in which each student fills in the blanks during lecture.

Mrs. Shanks is awesome! She is an engaging person to listen to and you will learn a lot from her. There is no reason why you shouldnt get a 100 on every test if you do all the extra credit. Take her for biology, it is really interensting and you learn a lot about yourself.

As the others have said, study the powerpoint notes and you'll be fine. The text is only a supplement. Teaching style is very simple to a middle school level. Recommend writing in light pencil in the lab manual so you can erase and sell back. $93 is $93.

Ms. Clark-Shanks is a really good teacher. I am also taking her for Bio 1409 lab this semester. She explains things really well, is open to questions, very professional and reasonable, and she was accommadating when I made a request about the fetal pig dissection. She seems serious, but not a bit bitter. She is also pretty, for those who care.

If you plan on going to class, don't buy the book. She goes over it all and gives you powerpoint outlines, which are basically the answers to the tests. Her class isn't hard if you can memorize fairly well and she's very nice. However the class should be called "Accepting your Mortaility" as she ends almost every sentence with "and then you'll die"

She is a great teacher, she explains everything thoroughly, almost to the point where one could thing it's a remedial (spelling) class, but its good because she makes sure you understand what bio is all about. Her tests are okay, just make sure you print out your notes and bring them to class and fill them out. No need for a book if you go to class

Book not needed if you go to class and use the outline provided on Mrs. Clarks faculty page. Class is tough, but if you put forth the time and effort to study you should be fine. She does offer some extra credit if needed.

Only had her for lab. She is a good teacher, but not the easiest. Her lab exams where all fill in the blank which is kind of hard.

First you don't need the book, but I would get the lab manual unless you have a really nice lab partner. I was scared to biology at first, but she has made it fun and easy to learn. At the beginning of class she will review what you talked about the period before and make sure everyone understands before going on. Go to class, fill in the blank

I really appreciated her clear, structured organization. She gave online outlines throughout each chapter of study which were easy to fill-in in class and contained exact test material. Tests contained a vast amount of information, but she tells you exactly what will be on it. I recommend going to class.

Alot of material covered, you really have to actually try and study! Relates things you learn in class to real things so it makes it easier to comprehend. Test reviews don't help--same outline of your notes and at times you will have 50 pages of notes to put to memory! If you're looking for a blow off class this is not it! Final is accumulative!!

no need to buy a textbook! just print out her notes on line and listen during lecture to fill in the blanks. if you show up and listen and take notes you will definitely make a good grade! but shes not a teacher you can skip class with. if you do dont go you will miss a ton of information and its hard to catch up.

She is very friendly but you need to study a lot because she has fill in the blank quizzes (practically every day) AND practi****tests. I passed her class with a B but I definitely had to study.

I believe I made the best accidential choice in selecting her as my teacher. She used visual aids, passed out handouts. It has been years since i have taken her class. But if after these years I am not saying how horrible she was then she must have been a decent teacher. Had her for lab too and i was never bored in class.

I love mrs shanks! I've taken her 2 semesters in a row. She has made me actually like biology and is the best teacher to take for biology at the NE campus. She rocks. You do have to study a lot for the tests but it pays off in the end.

I'm taking her for lab. She reviews the quiz right before you take it, which happens to be the answers. The test review is the test. Huh! Easy A. Great teacher.

I actually enjoyed attending this bio lab more than going to my bio lecture (who's a different teacher).

She is very clear about her topics, has NO HOMEWORK, and only uses test grades for the most part. If you STUDY for the tests and show up for class, you should be good. The tests are basically carbon-copies of the lecture notes, which are given in a fill in the blank format. She will help you anytime you need her to. Its not a hard class.

I had her for lab and thought she was amazing. I wish I'd taken her for 1408 as well. She is so nice and helpful. She expects effort on your part, but she is very understanding and willing to help whenever is necessary. I would recommend her to anyone, especially if you're not very good at Biology or simply lack the interest. GREAT teacher.

Awesome teacher! You must attend class and study. You don't need to read the book, if you attend class. She makes the material very clear and interesting. I wish I would have taken her for lab. Not an easy teacher, but it is well worth the effort from the knowledge you gain!

Wow she is quite beautiful and is a great teacher. She is hands down in the top 5 of the teachers at tcc. She is always in an upbeat mood and has a passion for seeing her students succeed. LOVE HER! I took her for both 1408 & 1409 lab and lec. She is very nice and gives out fill in the blank notes that you do in lec. If you study them, you get an A on the tests. You don't need the book at all but you do have to show up for class. Lab was very easy as well. She's very clear about what she wants from you.

She is a great instructor. She gives a fill in the blank each chapter. Study Guides are given for exams. Helpful w/complex issues and disabilities. Attendance is important if you havent had biology for yrs. She loves the subject and it makes a difference. I would take both her classes.

Good Teacher not bad, has minor jokes but will never laugh you have to catch them. The class isnt hard there is only 4 test, she gives an outline of the test a week before the test, follow it/study it and you'll be fine

She is a very nice caring teacher. Her tests are pretty hard. I'm passing her lab but lecture I'm almost failing... There's just a lot of material but it doesn't matter which teacher you take. I have a couple of more tests to go! Just study and focus!!! Lab is fun!!! Good luck! Don't use the book btw.

Take her!! Class can be hard but any BIO class will be. She is very sweet and a GREAT teacher. You don't need the book unless you want to do extra credit which is worth up to 5 points on each test. Just print your outlines, go to class, study and you will be just fine! I took her for class and lab. Passed both! LAB IS REALLY FUN!

I enjoyed this class because it's obvious she likes teaching people, and she's pretty darn good at it. She admittedly tries to make it as painless as she can for non-majors, and is as funny as a 50-something juco Bio instructor can be, I guess. I wish I had her for my lab as well as lecture. She's a member of my very short favorites list at TCC.

Audrey is the person I want to be when I grow up. She always awesome fashion taste and sometimes you can't tell whether she is joking or not. She cares about every story someone has to tell about anything related to the study topics. She cares about every student. No need for a textbook. Outlines are what you need for an A.

I took Ms. Shanks for 1408 and 1409, labs and lectures. You simply couldn't have a better teacher for bio non-majors. She explains simply and well. She offers extra credit, is really pleasant and sweet.

Shanks is hands down the best professor I have had at TCC. She makes you understand even when the material is hard. Her labs are always interesting. There is a quiz every lab, but they are easy if you study. Her lecture is great too. Extra credit is offered for each test! With effort you will pass this class with an A or B. I love this class

Amazing teacher, incredibly helpful. Comes around to every student during class activities to check on how they're understanding the course work. Offers open lab before major lab tests. Teaches alot of material but it is fill-in-the-blank notes so it is easy to follow. Definitely need to study for the tests. Extra credit offered every test.

(Coming from a person who failed biology 3 times in H.S.) I first took Ms. Shanks only for credit. I took her lab and lecture for both biology courses. I have contemplated switching my major since. My best advice is: if you have a question, ask(she's a no question is dumb kind of teacher) You'll enjoy her class if your invested while your there.

My favorite professor at TCC. I took 1408 lab/lecture and 1409 lecture from her. She offers extra credit on all tests and posts fill-in-the-blank outlines to all the chapters. As long as you attend class and ask questions you will pass. I absolutely loved her! (She also has great taste in fashion).

man a 4.7- she has good reviews for a reason. Her outlines for the tests she gives out you don't even need to know half the material she just really wants you to understand the whole process with hopes you'll find it interesting and try switching your major. She goes a lil faast but just do a little studying and trust me you'll pass lol.

This course doesn't have any homework so you have to be there for tests. She does do extra credit on the tests and in lab drops your two lowest quiz score

Im currently taking her for the fall of 2018. Shes a WONDERFUL professor. She really knows what shes talking about and you can tell she really wants you to understand. When grading on tests, she wants VERY SPECIFIC answers! Just study a lot and go to SI sessions! Dont be afraid to ask questions!

She puts her lecture outline on blackboard for you to print out so you wont have to get a hand cramp during lectures. I took this class after not having a biology class since highschool and she made it easier. The tests arent as bad as they seem.

She is easily one of my favorite professors. She cares about her students and is always open to answering questions. As long as you study the outlines, the tests are straightforward. Be sure to go to class. Well worth it

LOVED HER. I was nervous about this class but she made it so much easier than I thought. That being said, there is a lot to do but her outlines helped SO MUCH. All you have to do is fill in the blanks. Go to SI, take the review quizzes. Turned my 85 into a 95 with all the extra credit. Drops questions that everyone missed on the test. TAKE HER.

She is an awesome professor. Ive taken here for both bio 1408 and 1409. If you want an A you will have to study if you dont go to the SI sessions. I went to the SI sessions and it made it easy.

Also provides study guides for tests, and practice tests online for extra credit. Most importantly, she is engaging, fun, and genuinely loves what she does (that makes a big difference)

Professor Shanks made me realize that science isn't my weak subject, it is actually one of my strongest. She is one of the most caring professors I have ever had. Study the outlines that she gives you and watch the videos and study material she gives. The videos helped me out a lot. Her labs are very fun and they never last the whole 2 hours!

100% recommend Professor Shanks! She is caring and makes Biology easy to learn. There is also extra credit for her Tests. Just show up and do the work super easy.

Professor Shanks is by far the best Professor I have had at TCCD this far. She provides you with everything and more not only to pass her class but in order to do exceedingly well in her class. She makes chapter outlines were you use in class during lecture. And you only have to fill in the blank. Shes great , take her!

Shanks is amazing I am taking her currently for bio non science majors 1 and I had to leave a review because her class is awesome, there's no homework outside of class other than just studying for the daily quizzes. Her lectures are interesting she makes everything clear and the test are not that hard take her you won't regret it!!!

I was worried about taking this class because I have never been good with science, and I was more worried with it being online lab as well. But Professor Shanks is so clear on what to do, she sends emails daily reminding you what is due and where everything is located. She gives many chances to bring your grade up! She quickly responds to you!

I haven't taken a bio class since 8th grade and Ms. Shanks was so awesome! This class wasn't overwhelming or hard! She is super nice and patient and honestly doesn't make biology seem scary at all! The class is lecture heavy (two sessions a week not including lab sessions with over 200 slides per PPT) but YOU WILL PASS WITH AN A! TAKE HER TRUST ME!

She's very nice and helpful, there is a lab quiz and lecture quiz every week (at least there was for my class.) Her test study guides aren't very helpful but she does post all of the lectures online so if you can't attend a class you can watch it later.

Clark-Shanks is a very caring professor. She's always reaching out in emails to ask how we are and how we are doing. She's very homework heavy, and her tests and quizzes are difficult, but if you study hard you can pass. Definitely take her for a hard class like biology, she'll help you every step of the way.

Took her as my lab professor and she was amazing! Listen to her lab lectures and you'll definitely get a 90-100 on her quizzes. They're all multiple choice, 10 minutes for 10 questions. Her tests do have some fill in the blank but they're super easy questions. Tests were proctored. Make sure you have her for lab!!

I have never done any labs, or even a science class in my life but after taking this class I may be switching to a biology major. This class was easy IMO. I never did any labs and still got an A. Shes also really approachable but still kept the class challenging. The only flaw was that homework was only open Friday-Monday so weekends were busy.

Best bio professor ever!!! Makes it so easy to understand and keeps lectures/lab fun to watch. This class was an easy A. The lecture outlines she gave us were SO beneficial.
