SHE IS THE BEST TEACHER IVE EVER HAD... SHE HELPS YOU ALOT AND SHE MAKES U UNDERSTAND EVERYTING IF I HAD TO CHOOSE HER AGAIN I WOULD SHE GREAT
Awesome calc teacher. Really went through everything throughly and made sure you understand everything. Tests are real easy also.
Just show up to class and do the homework. you should be able to get a B easily. She is really clear with everything, very thorough. She tries really hard to make math easy for everyone. Definitely take her as your calc prof.
She is so nice, and tries really hard to make the material easy. Very approachable and willing to help. Very fair grading policy. Just go to her if you have a problem. Very thorough and clear. Attendance and homework, exams non-cum. Great teacher for calc
even she said other people in her dept thought she graded too easily. she really tries to help you in her office hours, without making you feel dumb. just make sure you sit up front, she writes REALLY small.
One of the nicest professors at rutgers. Very good grader, nice person, and will help u out when u need it.
I don't care how well she teaches, it was just awesome how she caught that person using a calculator during the test and giving her a 0.
Writes too much, she talks and the words are written right there on the board, so you'll be too busy writing while she's explaining. She is fair, but her teaching method could use a little help... during lectures that is.
She is really nice, but talks and writes so much that you wont have time to notice. Her tests are relaitvely easy and she is a fair graderr. Shes a really good teacher compared to others.
Very nice woman. She is helpful and a fair grader. Gives partial credit and is willing to help students out as much as possible to get a good grade
easy, extremely sweet and tries her best to be helpful, a very fair grader
She is so nice and so helpful. Her lectures are so explanatory and her first exam was the easiet thing all semester. She drops one of your midterms if you do well on your final and one of the midterms so best of luck to all. SHOULD DEFINATELY TAKE HER
"Gus" is extremely rude if you visit her office hours--contrary to the previous ratings, I think Gus's teaching methods are obselete, we dont need to her to restate all the info in the text! She is an OK grader,i'll give her that, take korchagi
It was an easy topic and an easy subject but she made everything super clear.. sooo nice and friendly and really willing to help! Def take her!!
her lecture didnt help. i fell asleep everytime. she made the things so hard to understand.if you were a guy, take her class. she treats the boys better than hte girls. its so obvious. very unfair.
She is not bad, actually it was an easy class for me but then again I am a straight A student pretty much. She writes too much. Do your hmwk and go the lecture . Exams are just like hmwk and the problems that she goes over in lecture. I had like 470/500.
Extremely easy. Go to class + Pay attention= Easy "A". I made study guides before every test. Then before the final I just looked at my study guides.
She's a fair grader...I'll give her that but Augusta Rainsford lacks compassion and empathy. Behind her sweet appearance lies a very cold-hearted woman who needs to seek therapy and unleash some of her repressed emotions..She'll be less bitter if she did.
Good Teacher, explains very well and is willing to help students.
Gus, isn't a really good teacher. She writes to much and always takes the long way to teach. I am very attentive in her class and every time she gives a lecture she loses me.
Gus is awesome! Very fair grader. Very approachable and friendly. She makes difficult and boring material interesting. She encourages participation in class. Exams were OK, but not too easy. Go to class, participate, show interest, you'll get an A.
Shes so nice n she tries her hardest to make us understand u rock
Good professor, very helpful and supportive..good grader..
She's **** and wayyy too slow. Also, she doesn't make the information interesting at all. She favors the 'good-looking' boys and giggles like a little school girl when they say something funny to her. Except for the poor weird kid in front..she treats him like he's mentally disabled. She sucks.
She is the worst teacher ever! Who teaches Calculus using pretyped transparencies. She was very unclear and didn't know how to teach. I had to use the book to teach myself how to do everything. I wouldn't recommend having her as a professor.
she not hard compared to how hard calc profs can be...she really wants ppl to understand..exams are manageable..do her study guide!!..otherwise very fair grader..and nice lady..just a lil boring sometimes..but its calc so how fun can it be?..take a class with her
Gus is a good person very helpful and a fair and honest grader. She is always willing to help, she gives two exams and a final and even though i am not doing so hot, at least she is completely fair, and even easy compared to the true difficulty of Calculus.
Seems like a nice and friendly teacher but her exams are very difficult. You better do every single suggested problem and know them well. She tells her students that if you failed the first or second exam but do well on the other two then she'll ignore it. Then at the end of the semester she counts everything with no exceptions to anyone.
Despite the drull subject she teaches, she is a very well structured prof. One time she stayed 2 hours after class to help me and some other students. That is just the kind of person she is. She may look like a vagabond, but underneath she is a sweet woman Yes her tests are difficult, but all calc exams are.
Rainsford is extremely helpful and expectations are reasonable. in order to do well, show up for class, take all the notes, and do the homework. exams are medium hard, but if you do well on the homework (no reason to not get an A- online at webwork), and do well on the recitation quizzes- they'll help your grade- she's one of the best calc prof
Good teacher, though I didn't go to 1/3-1/2 of the classes, didn't do 3/4 of the webwork, went to every recitation, aced every quiz, got an A and C+ on both exams and managed to still get an A in th class. Very structured, only reason she would sound unclear would be because of the kids in the class, there were some very rude kids.
She is probably the easiest calc teacher. Just go to class sometimes and study for the tests. I got a B- and an A on the two tests and then a B+ on the final and I got an A. She said she would overlook one bad hourly exam so its pretty easy to get an A. She writes a lot of notes on the board and goes by the book. Overall, shes a good teacher.
While she is an EXTREMELY helpful instructor - as in she is one of the very few mathematics professor who both knows and loves the subject and is enthusiastic about teaching all at once-she brings her calc 135 mentality into upper level courses and classes are way too easy.its not hard to get the A in her class but it may not reflect comprehension.
great teacher. probably the best i've ever had at rutgers. (rutgers has some horrible undergrad teachers.) she was very helpful, explanitory, nice, etc. couldnt say enough good things.
Ms. Rainsford is a nice and caring teacher/person. She cares her students and tries to help them in ways beyond a teacher, more like a mentor. Whatever she makes you do in the class prepares you for the exams. By all means, take her. She is even more responsible than a highschool teacher is. I really doubt if there's a better teacher than she.
Took Calc III with her during the summer. She's fair, accommodating, and she'll try her best for students to understand the material. For example, when we had to take the computer part of this class, she stayed late for the students who came in late! The only way you'll get anything lower than an A in this class is if you don't care at all.
She is fair alright but her TA is obnoxious. Sometimes we ask questions and he said he doesn't want to answer because he doesn't feel like it. He tries to be funny but fails. I mean a TA is supposed to give his best knowledge when a student asks a question.
She's a very sweet woman and is always willing to help, whether it be going over problems after class or offering extra credit.. but she's just boring. She recopies the book onto the board, but takes attendance so you have to go to class. I learned more than I did all semester in one night by going over the chapters on my own. And her grader sucks.
THE ABSOLUTE WORST PROFESSOR. i was a straight A student in highschool and math used to be my favorite subject. this class is just terrible. one day she was like "you know we don't get paid to answer emails" with people asking for homework help. the worst teacher. dont make the mistake i made and go by what other people said about her. PROMISE.
The absolute worst. SHE DOESNT NOT TEACH. SHE TALKS TO HERSELF IN CLASS AND JUST WRITES ON THE BOARD FOR THE WHOLE CLASS. youll need like a ten subject notebook cause all she doestn is write rather than actually explain whats going on. DO NOT TAKE HER TRUST ME.
The people under me are obviously just trying to scare people away and make them drop. She is THE nicest professor ever. Exams are very fair and she gives a good amount of partial credit. She does give alot of notes, but they are very clear and helpful. Overall, great professor.
you know, i really liked math and got straight A's until i came to her class. terrible teacher. her exams are the hardest examples. she moves way too quickly. i mean, the day before the exam she doesn't even review! she just moves onto the next section. there is no eye contact whatsoever. she's not nice & is not a people person.find someone else.
I had her for Topics Math, a ridiculous math course for liberal arts majors. I agree with the others, she is not friendly, goes off on tangents a lot, takes up 3 chalk boards to do one problem, and is completely irrational when it comes to hw grading. Bad choice.
OK. Her homework grading is impossible, i have literally got 20 points off for one problem. Her notes are all over the place, and she leaves no time to review for an exam. She just moves on to the next section and if you ever question her way of teaching and moving to fast, be prepared for war-because she WILL argue and hate you.
very good teacher. She teaches you all the material with ease and will explain it all even if you had never taken calculus before. I never took it before and i got an A. take this class!
she was pretty easy- her lectures were a little all over the place, but if you are patient and focused, it's not hard to do well
Extremely bad professor. Makes you feel dumb when you ask questions. Embarrasses you in front of the class. All over the place. Won't let you out of class until the exact time...trust me she will use the 30 secs of class left to try to do a problem you won't understand and she'll will probably confuse you in the process by making countless mistakes
I have always been good at math and I took calc for the first time with her. Not very helpful because she restates exactly what is in the textbook without an explanation or a clear example. She also is good at making students feel dumb for having a question
Never had I had a more horrid teacher than her. Her handwriting is atrocious, she mumbles and talks to the board, makes you feel like an idiot if you ask a question, goes over problems in a hurry, and leaves you more clueless than before. It is also hard to self teach because the book isn't all that great. I highly recommend Kevin Noone.
Yes, I agree that she's one of the most absentminded professors of all time. However, if you find that Math 103 is at all difficult, you shouldn't be at Rutgers. End of Story
Talks to the board. Pretty unclear, but the material isn't bad if you can teach yourself. Recitation has a weekly quiz and is helpful. Exams are tougher than practice problems, so be prepared. I took Calc in high school, and got an A. If I didn't, I'd expect to have gotten a B. I feel bad, because she's very nice, just not a good teacher.
I don't understand why some ppl say she's not helpful or clear. She was crystal clear in explaining my questions. I was so surprised. Do the hw problems in the textbook (although it's not necessary) and go to her office hour with questions. and try to attend some of her lectures. Exams were easy for me when I studied like this. Recommend her!
She is very sweet and nice. Attendence is taken and does make a difference in borderline grades. Quizzes almost every day, but she allowed us to drop two. If you do well on one of the two tests, she will ignore the bad one. Her explanations are very good, and she is willing to meet outside of office hours if needed.
Shes terrible! She talks to the board and confuses herself (and therefore the class) while "teaching." I have gotten A's in every math class but this one. I had to teach myself everything from the book and her tests were nothing like her quizzes.
My advice is to sit infront in class b/c she does talk to the board but if u pay attention you'll get it. she's very helpful and sweet during office hours answers all of ur quest. and makes sure u understand it before u leave. exams r easy if u study. i didn't so i got a D and F and C+ for final but ended up w/ a C+ for the class.
Talks to the board, and exams are much harder than HW problems. I got an A without much work, but took Calc in high school; my friends who didn't and did work did much worse. Recitation is helpful, make sure you do well on (and attend) the quizzes there. She uses an attendance sheet, but it only counts if you're borderline. Gives a curve.
hands down, worst teacher i've ever had. she talks to the board, ignores people's questions, and goes really fast. terrible experience
these comments are so ridiculous. she is so nice! she does answer people's questions and she stays extra time during office hours for kids who wanna stay. I got an A :) Her exams are CAKE. so similar to the hw problems in the book. seriously, people who are complaining about her probably just didn't study and are trying to blame her for doing bad
She does talk to the board, but she's copying the textbook anyway. If attendance weren't mandatory it would be the only class I'd ever have skipped. She literally copied the textbook.
stay away from her. the worst teacher hands down. i did so much work, went to tutoring every day, and was lucky to get a C.
Decent at teaching. Don't really need to go to class. Gives a slight curve
Terrible. Completely useless. My TA taught me everything I know. A C is good in my book, especially after spending countless hours on problems, and in the learning centers. One problem will take up half of the board & my entire page across & didnt fit in my nb.Needs to split examples instead of focus on one problem that takes up 4 pages in my nb.
she is awesome!!! the people who say she's awful did not go to class, nor did they take advantage of her office hours when they needed help. it is extremely important to go to class. she is very clear and will answer ANY questions you have. such a sweet and extremely helpful woman! go to her office hours and STUDY!
She is a really great professor. She does many exapmles of each kind of problem but it is best to reinforce her teaching with practice from the book. Go to class and copy all of her exapmles - you will likely find similar questions on exams. Also, she made herself very available for extra help and always held extra review sessions before exams.
Amazing professor. Probably one of the best Math professors I've had at Rutgers in my opinion. She's ALWAYS willing to give you extra help if you reach out to her and do your part. Exams are not difficult if you study. GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS. Seriously I understood Calc ten times better with with her than I ever did with a tutor or otherwise!
Go to class and write down the examples she does on board. They will show up on the exams. Easy B+ if you go to class and just study a little.
She is great! such a genuinely nice person and gears the class toward helping the students succeed. She teaches the material in an organized and clear way but it would benefit you to sit in the front bc at times it may be hard to hear her. attend office hours and do the optional homework to study for exams. Take calc with her you wont regret it!!
TAKE HER. Prof. Rainsford made calculus so easy to understand. She is an absolute angel and is more than willing to sit with you if you need help! Show up to class and copy down all the examples she goes over. I can't stress it enough TAKE HER COURSE!!
She has no interest in teaching. Talks to the board. Has zero engagement with the class. Copies from the book (while attendance is mandatory). Pauses in-between sentence to write it down on the board (while you loose track of what she was saying in the first place). Gives easy quizzes and hard exams. Do yourself a favor and go with someone else.
rainsford was such a nice genuine professor. calc is obviously a hard course so you have to put in effort. she goes out of her way to help her students. she helped me for 2 hours (not during office hours) to help me. just do your part and you well do well. her lectures are boring but then again calc is boring. i recommend taking her!
She's a very sweet lady and you know she has a passion for what she does; However, her pace and clarity when she teaches is subject to debate - I found it hard to keep up with her lectures because she would frequently make mistakes or make tangents that would further confuse her students. Regardless, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!! That's calculus.
She makes sure to go through concepts that one needs to know. Quizzs and exams are relatively easy, and proofs in this course are very simple.
Awful, awful teacher! Thank goodness for my TA and the tutors at the tutoring centers! She needs to learn how to teach!
Horrible teacher! She would teach the blackboard 95% of time and it was almost impossible to ask her a question, she would make multiple mistakes during her examples that would completely mess with the entire problem. She also has this problem of writing and then erasing and then rewriting the same thing (repeat 3x) for everything she writes!
I like her! No homework. Only quizzes.
Her exams were not that hard the class itself is hard. Series and Sequences can be confusing but once you understand it the class is easy. I got a B on the first exam F on the 2nd and 75% on the final. She will happily help you when you go to office hours which i went to every week
This teacher is alright! She thinks she is teaching the class but that is completely not the case. She was unclear in her answers when a question as asked. She never connected with the students while teaching and it looked as if she was repeating what she wrote on the board. 1st exam was easy, 2nd was HARD and the final was nothing what she taught
this class is extremely difficult especially if you didnt take calculus in highschool. The professor is very willing to help and will stay after aside from office hours, but her tests are really hard and she doesnt teach everything that will be on the tests. she teaches the basics and expects you to figure the rest out on your own, which sucks
Avoid if you want a good grade in linear algebra. Her lecturing is all over the place, and she makes lots of mistakes as she goes. In class she goes over the basics, and the rest is up to you to learn. Final exam was ridiculous.
She's a really nice professor, however I think most people would agree she made the class a lot harder than it had to be. Her exams were tough but she was very nice and always willing to help you understand the subject especially in office hours. If you really want to learn the subject you should take her
she is very nice. if you follow her steps on blackboard and doing the homework, looking the textbooks, you can get B or B+ .
IF YOU REGISTERED FOR HER LINEAR ALGEBRA CLASS FIND ANOTHER PROFESSOR NOW!!! That's the best advice I can give you. Lecture is complete pointless. She will teach section after section in the same lecture with out giving an actually example on how to actually do the problem. Worst mistake I've made was registering for her class.
Look if you're taking 152 then chances are you are usually a math major or engineer. Prof Rainsford does talk to the board and sometimes may be hard to follow exactly what she's doing but if you ask her she will clearly explain. Calc 2 is hard material, so if you did not do well it is your own fault not the professors. Exams were not bad. Do HW.
she is nice. her lecture are long and boring. but her exams are easier than other teacher so your avgs would be much nicer than other teacher and she does prepare you for the final. I would say she was a great teacher
Rambles on at the blackboard, examples are confusing and sometimes she teaches like shes seeing the material for the first time herself. Erases and rewrites many many times because she is all over the place. Exams are not too bad but she gives NO PARTIAL CREDIT. doesn't assign much homework but youll need to read and do extra problems to pass
DO NOT! I REPEAT! DO NOT TAKE HER! IF YOU ARE REGISTERED, SWITCH NOW!
Don't take her for linear algebra, she doesn't come prepared for class, is unclear when writing on the board. Not only does she mess up on multiple examples, but writes out everything in English, but ends up misspelling about half of the stuff. I come in having read the lesson from the book only to come out more confused. Not worth it, drop now...
Do not take her class unless you have to do! Do not! The words on board are hard to recognize! Usually you don't know what she is talking about! There is no review materials for exam and the exam is also very hard.
She did not have a review before the final exam. Calc is already hard enough but taking it with Rainsford makes it rocket science. There is no real organization to what she writes on the board so your notes are a mess. She will explain the concepts to you in words and do one to two practice examples. Don't take calc with her
Not clear. Tough grader.
Although she would teach until the VERY last second of class, she was a very kind lady and always ready to help or answer questions. Her lectures weren't very formal either, she welcomed calling out. I can imagine that she may be more difficult if you didn't take Calc in high school.
Very sloppy. Makes tons of mistakes. Speaks to the board a lot.
Calc 2 in general is a pretty hard class. she's not the best but she isn't the worst either.
Try to get another teacher!!!!!!!! Do not take her unless you have to. Lectures were long and boring, unclear and stupid. I didn't understand anything because she teaches herself at the chalkboard. She rambles on and on and basically doesn't care that we don't understand what the hell she's talking about. She also takes attendance. And it counts.
Wow, I was told that Calc at Rutgers was really bad. I came to some of the classes and asked questions, but she made everything so easy that I didn't have to try so hard.
She's really nice and means well. That being said, buy the book ASAP as you need it to pass. Her test are a bit harder than other classes, but the curve is great. Put in 2 hours a week and your good.
If you think this class is easy, your wrong. You need to have the mentality to put in at least 3 hours a week reviewing the material and also looking ahead to what you are about to learn the next week. Her tests are hard if unprepared, but if you studied they are a walk in the park. Good luck
Firstly, get ready to read the textbook. Her lectures are best if you read ahead the chapter that she will discuss. You will understand more info if you know what she is talking about. Also attendance counts for your grade but only a tiny fraction. Do not think the class is an easy A, put in effort and you will get it, but don't fool around.
Study the book, you will pass by just reading the book. To get an A (like me) you should go to the TA for extra help.
It's calculus, not basic math. If you think it will be easy don't take the class. If you put in effort, study, and show up to class you will have a decent time. Tests are curved, many people will get in the 50s, but they are the kind of people who think the class is a joke. Study and you will do well.
Very easy class, but lectures were unhelpful and a great deal of material was never covered. Be prepared to learn the material on your own to be prepared for other classes but enjoy the easy A.
Tough tests that you need to study for. The curve however, is great, because people tend to either get in 80s or 40s. Homework is easy, all you do is retry as many times until right answer (plus just put question into google and it has answer). Study for the quiz and final and you can get the A, that's what I did.
I personally didn't like her. She was all over the place and unorganized. She would skip over steps and not explain things clearly. I ended up teaching myself from the book. I failed the first midterm but ended up with an A, so know there is a curve!
Lectures were not very helpful. Attended nearly all of them. Show up for he first few minutes for the reviews she does of previous classes. If you plan on staying all lecture don't waste your time trying to keep up all she does is rewrite theorems from her notes. Pay attention to the examples. Do the suggested problems she bases tests off homework.
This is an easy class but she manages to make mistakes all the time. Talks to the board a lot. Office hours are helpful, but you don't need them most of the time because the material is really easy indeed.
helpful during office hours, but lectures are very unclear.
Very boring, makes lots of mistakes but helpful during office hours
Lin Al is already dull, bu she makes it even more boring.
This professor has got to be the most rude person I've ever met. There is no respect, every conversation with her ends with her yelling something along the lines of "UHP UHP UHP UHP, I don't want to hear it" or something rude and dismissive like that. She doesn't respect you, she just interrupts and speaks over you like a child.
Takes off huge amounts of points for the smallest mistakes. Be very careful on exams, because even if you know the material, she has no mercy. Lectures don't help much if you don't already understand what's being taught.
she isn't the most engaging professor. can be quite rude at times. depending on her mood she can help during office hours but sometimes she is just too angry at everyone.
Definitely not an engaging professor. When she lectures its like shes just going through a routine, not much feeling or gusto. Its as if she's reviewing the material for herself during lecture. I also feel her lectures/hw and even the recitations did not properly prepare me for her tests, which seemed to be way more difficult than the prep material
She is TERRIBLE. Puts things on exam we didnt learn yet. She is always ruffled during class and has NO IDEA what she is doing. She is unfair. All other calc classes my friends take are by far much easier in terms of exams, work, and extra credit which is offered. She still gives quizzes the same week as exams. Her exams are NOTHING like the reviews
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
talks to the board 90% of time. Very rude teacher. AVOID HER!!!!!!
Terrible teacher. She's super rude and barely teaches in the first place. Her exams are nothing like what we did in lectures or on quizzes. You can't go to her for help either because more often than not, she won't help you. Highly recommend avoiding her as your calc professor at all costs.
Don't trust anyone who doesn't put their grades up. She teaches what her superior tell her to in an organized manner. Sometimes will skip simplification steps (got lost sometimes), but will show derivations if you want to understand the process. Humorous, but also serious. Admits she is losing her mind lol. Overall on the better side of teachers.
She makes mistakes all the time. Poorly prepared and disorganized.
study hard for the tests, they are hard! homework is helpful with them so do them. Don't skip class unless you already know the material. attendance is sign in
Terrible handwriting, but it's worth going to lecture. Recitation with Naum Perelman probably taught more than she did though and her exams were pretty difficult. She also gave 100 tries on Webassign which was good. But other than that, mediocre professor at best. Took "surprise" attendance 5 times in lecture.
Very difficult to follow. You learn better from the TA than from her.
Possibly the worst professor I've ever had. This class is tough enough and she just makes it tougher. She flies through everything and if one student understands she assumes everyone understands. She skips steps while trying to explain. She is super condescending.
She wasn't well prepared. Makes mistakes all the time, talks to the board.
She is constantly behind the schedule and doesn't cover important concepts.
She teaches more theories and does a lot of examples but her work is very messy. She does not answer questions and has difficult exams as she teaches relevant subject matter days before the exams. Prepare to work hard if calculus does not come naturally to you.
Badly structured class, lots of mistakes in class. Can be very rude.
Can be really rude and has messy handwriting so it is hard to take notes. Goes really fast in class but allows for students to ask questions. Constantly makes mistakes while doing exams on the board and often skips steps (it's so confusing). First exam was easy but the second one was very, very difficult. The TA was better than her to be honest.
A decent instructor. Attending lectures could be helpful if you study ahead. Calc 152 could be an easy or difficult subject, depending on your study habits. The professor is fair with grading.
She makes so many mistakes while lecturing. She pretty much talks to the chalkboard when lecturing rather than to the class. Very dry lectures. Not animated at all. You need to study on your own and teach yourself the concepts if you want to pass.
Worst calc 135 prof probably. Her exams were hard and class average was really low. Her lectures are also really useless because she copies straight from the textbook. I learned more from recitations. Also can be rude at times.
Okay so IDK why Gus has such bad reviews, I'm assuming it's cuz they are intro math classes, and they haven't actually had bad math prof before. But anyway, Math300 obv not an easy class, but she's a great lecturer, great at explaining difficult concepts & she really cares about her students understand everything. The best math prof Ive had.
Please, please avoid this class. Lectures are beyond boring and exams are very tough.
Gets confused easily. Talks to the board. The exams are easy but the class is boring.
She isn't engaging at all. You have to read the book to understand main concepts as she skips important derivations.
She's a nice person but horrible lecturer from my experience. She decided not to curve anything because apparently students abused the curve the previous semester. Her lectures were hard to follow cause she doesn't properly space her handwriting so it's like a big combined word instead of a sentence
Very unorganized, often taking 10+ mins to remember where we left off last lecture, sometimes even skipping over concepts she forgot we didn't cover. Most egregiously, she is possibly the least helpful professor I've ever had -- she would refuse to walk through questions to clarify difficult concepts, claimed to be "too busy" to invest extra time.
Her exams are noticeably more difficult compared to other professors, for whatever reason. The average on the first was a 55 and the second a 50. They tend to be based off textbook problems, not past exams. Overall, she's unorganized, seemingly careless, and not the best professor. I recommend others, but not the end of the world if you have her.
Really poor in lecture. Her exams are significantly harder than anything she teaches you in class. Prepare for the simplest problem concepts to become unrealistically difficult. Overall trash.
her exams are considerably harder than the exams given by other professors. Showed up 20 minutes late to the first exam and routinely shows up late to lecture.
I'm in DiffEqs. She's a nice person when you talk one on one, but she comes off arrogant during class. Her exams are very hardThe quizzes are straightforward, so you'd think the exams would be as wellShe wouldn't tell us the average of the exam(I got a 40-something and so did all my friends), concluding "there's no curve in life". Like, come on.
even though the math department at rutgers is bad, she was a great professor. she would always ask the class how we were doing and always took time to answer questions even when she was interrupted by them. she really cares about her students but the class overall is tough and the averages were super low.
Takes random attendance 5 times, go to class. Messy handwriting on board. Covers all material and decent lecturer. Not organized and does not give practice test questions. Just learn from examples in class, notes, and textbook. Second midterm was harder than the first. Not bad. Not good. However, she is very willing to help and answer questions!!
unfortunately the weakest lecturer i've had the displeasure of experiencing. she means well, but she fumbles over her notes and makes clerical mistakes constantly whilst copying from her notes. just show up for the exams & recitation, and read the textbook for 80 minutes during normal lecture times to get a similar understanding of course material.
One word to describe her: sloppy. Sloppy handwriting, poor presentation skills, and not very invigorating. Basically, everything you typically wouldn't want in a professor, she has. She's incredibly nice in person, but comes off as arrogant during lecture. I would say she cares, but only sort of at the surface. She's been known to be cold.
Words cannot even being to describe how great she is. she helps you with anything if you ask and while she may write quickly all you have to do is ask her to slow down or pause. she's really good at explaining things and if you don't understand she'll keep explaining until you do. if you feel overwhelmed by homework she'll push back the due dates
Take Rainsford if you want to have impossible exams with no curve in the class.
For 251, she isn't definetely one of the worst lecturers. If you want to actually learn, take another professor. She often makes mistakes and isn't organized in her lectures. I think her lectures are a waste of my time. However, her exams are very easy compared to others. She doesn't like long or difficult questions.
Not a good lecturer. You won't be learning the best in lecture. But her exams are easy because they are straightforward and basically textbook example problems + class notes + homework. She doesn't put hard questions. Obviously, the material for calc 3 is hard, so you will need to learn it yourself, but she makes the exam easy.
The weakest lecturer I had for calc 3. The exams were easy than other professors'. But she makes lots of mistakes and her class is boring.
Terrible.. I stop going to her lecture because I can barely understand her handwriting. I would rather watch some videos online than going to her lecture because her lecture is not helpful at all.
Worst math lecturer I've ever encountered. worst TA out there. If you have her please just drop, save yourself a headache. maybe she's a good person, but definitely a bad professor. lecture is boring and not useful, most of the time looking to the board and writing.
When she said there is no curve, she isn't lying. She didn't curve a single point. What's sad is that on our second midterm the average was a 54, yet she still didn't see it was necessary to curve that? I put my heart and soul into this class and I was not rewarded with what I deserved. This class killed my GPA, thanks to an awful professor.
What a mistake it was to take her class. Her lecture is one of the most disorganized at Rutgers, not to mention her handwriting is illegible at times. Her teaching consists of dumping out the information without caring if the students actually understood it. By the end of the semester, about 25 of 80 students came to lecture. Just use the textbook.
terrible. save yourself. lectures are unclear, she is constantly confused. the exam averages were in the 50s and she didnt feel the need to curve at all. half the class failed and she couldnt care less. whoever is saying she is a good lecturer was either paid by her or was done by her herself.
I found her lectures to be useful and was able to learn from them, but I know that many people thought she went too fast, so I would say she is only good if you can keep up. She was usually helpful in office hours, but I did once see her laugh at a student's poor attempt at a Maple Lab. There are 5 Maple Labs and they are all pretty easy.
