Dr. Ayuk is Cameroonian, but teaches Am. Govt & Political Science. He loves American politics! Learning from a foreigner gave me a fresh perspective; helped me appreciate life in America more! His class is challenging; full of debate.
prf. Ayuk has a heavy accent, which makes it difficult to understand what he is saying, i found it helpful to read the text on my own and study it instead of listening to him lecture, dont take his class unless you can speak cameroonian, or want to read 24/7
This class actually made me interested in political science. His accent is hard to understand at first but he is always willing to repeat himself. He is also open to everyone's opinions. His tests are neither easy or hard but it is definitely possible to make A's on them if you study and read.
Dr. Ayuk is great and he teaches this class with a passion.
He was very hard to understand. It was a hard class and i would not recommend him if you want to be reading ALL THE TIME!! His tests are EXTREMELY hard, and they are hard to understand also! THe stuff that he tells us to know is never on the test! Strange...
I have no interest in Political Science...but there were definitely worse teachers I could have had for this class. The main thing that bothered me was the accent and the bad handwriting. One last thought; STOP WRITING OVER WHAT YOU'VE ALREADY WRITTEN!
Hard to understand his accent. When able to be understood he is good.
Mr. Ayuk makes you read the book to understand what he is talking about and understand if you didn't understand the lecture. His passion for teaching is great & every other week he might throw in a funny punchline. Good teacher though if you appreciate the subject.
Dr.Ayuk is a good teacher. I do not find it hard to understand him at all, although he does have a small accent. I do urge anyone that takes this class to make sure that you get the study guide. He is willing to work with anyone who is willing to learn, make sure you take good notes and READ!!!!!
Dr. Ayuk is hard to understand at first, but his accent grows on you. Do the study guide, and read. And write down everything he says. My class thought he should run for a governmental position. He knows EVERYTHING about law.

He talks a lot. If you miss a class you better get the notes. His test cover a lot of material, but he almost always gives you a very detailed study guide. He is a good guy.

Ayuk is an excellent teacher, moderately hard to understand because of his strong accent, but he will gladly explain his material. I recommend him if you can take lots of notes and read lips.
I had this guy he seemed nice, but his accent was too heavy for me and I could not follow his lecture. I did not do too well in his class. As far as recommending him to others, I would have to say if you can deal with his accent, and have a recorder you may do ok
He had a very thick accent. Plus he would give you so much info and rephrase it to the point where you didn't know what the answer was. It was very hard to even get a "C" in his course. Plus on tests he wouldn't use info that he had given you and then replace it with stuff you had never even seen. You had to remember everything he mention in class. It was very difficult.
He's a nice teacher and his class is pretty easy. The key is to keep up with the notes. Also another good thing is he never gives quizzes, only tests!!!
he can teach but its hard to understand him. his notes are pretty much the test. great person but i you have strong stdy habits.
hes a good teacher but if u dont like lectures than hes not for u. this is a class where u pass or fail on your own all the info u need for his tests he give you during the lecture exactly the way he wants u to answer.
This is a somewhat easy course. It is importatnt to listen in class and take good notes because the tests are directly from the notes. If you do not like lectures then this is not the course for you. Also, missing a day in this class is not advised so if you like to miss multiple days, this course is WRONG for you.
very hard to understand him. he knows a lot about the information that he teaches. but if you would rather sit in a class that is very hard to pass then this is it.
It's extremely hard to understand what he is saying during class. He has unorganized notes and often jumps from one subject to another. He gets easily annoyed by multiple questions in reference to what he just said.Pretty much expects perfect attention. Overall, if possible take someone else.
Ayuk is very interesting! great professor.I suggest you attend every class ,bcecause if you miss a day, you will be lost. material on his tests are usually from your note ,so take good notes.
He is a nice guy,but he's hard to understand. his tests are hard and his notes are unorganized. i dont think you should take this class unless you want your GPA to drop
He was a decent professor. Sometimes he was hard to understand, but definitely make sure you pay attention and study your notes. His tests were okay, but he is very generous regarding extra credit and bonus points.
Take notes and read for this class. Dr. Ayuk is a fair Professor. You just have to do your part.
Great teacher!
I think that he is a very good teacher. If you take good notes then you WILL pass. Everything that is in your notes are on the test. I recommend taking notes via lap top. My roomate never studied for this class and she managed to make a "C" so if you put in a little time to go over your notes, then it is an easy"A". I made a "B" but thats only bec
NOtes, notes, notes, study your notes! Hint: Bring laptop, it's quicker! Not a hard class at all. Just study your notes. He is generous with bonus questions, and our pop quizzes ended up being extra points on our tests. He makes a point to get to know everybody by name.
A great teacher, easy to get along with, and humorous at times to but makes the class interested. Just study your notes and read book and you will be okay. Plus he gives extra credit pts alot also for just attending class and participating it is that easy:)
he is a good professor. make sure you read your notes. His test are pretty much from his notes. bring your labtop to take notes it is a whole lot easier. he gives extra by just being there and participating. It is that simple. Go go to class and participate. He is very helpful when you go to his office hours. I advise you to go if you can.
He sure likes what he does.He teaches perfectly well. If you go to class, take his note and then read it, you will find the test pretty easy.He is very helpful and has a good communication skill. If you have to take this class and you love yourself take this lecturer. It is an A class. He gives exra credit for participation.Professor Ayuk, you are t
If I have to take any class and he's teaching, I will register for it fast. It's so great to have had the opportunity to be in your class. Professor Ayuk, you are the best!!!
He is an awesome lecturer. His tests are no joke, you have to study to get an A. You'll learn a lot in his class. He is probably the best professor I have taken so far.
He is VERY helpful. He is fair, if you study and are willing to work hard, you will make an A or atleast a B. He loves what he does. I hate government, but I didnt hate it when he was teaching it. :) He will give what you deserve.
great great teacher.
One of the tougher PoliSci professors I had, but a great guy. He really knows his stuff and you will learn alot. Id highly recommend him for his Politics of Africa course. Don't be afraid of his accent, it isn't nearly as bad as some people say, and its gotten alot better over the years.
He requires a lot of reading. His classes are nothing but never ending power points and him occasionally scribling on the board. Just read the material.
I highly reccomend this Professor! Befor taking his clss I had no intrest in PS, but professor Ayuk has a passion behind his teaching. He is willing to go over so many things in his office hours. His test are fill in the blan, bultiple choice, and bonus questions. It seemed impossible to fail his class. Well, I would say that is if you attend it.
Looked forward to his class. Great professor. Study his notes and contribute in class and you will do well.
Great professor. He loves what he does. He know his job very well. Just show up to class, read, and take notes. You will pass for sure.
He's a wonderful teacher. He knows his material, and the way he teaches actually seem interesting. This class is not at all hard. He is very fair, and his accent is easy to understand. Overall, he is a nice professor. The tests and quizzes are consistent to his lecture. There is no way you can fail this class.
Dr. Ayuk is very knowledgeable about the subject of political science. However, if you don't study or put forth an effort you may not do well in his class. He does move rather fast, and might be lost if you don't do the readin assignments. Stay focused and you should do well.
Intern. Relation He is a good teacher and really wants you to do well. You MUST read the chapters, or at least HEAVILY skim, his class is lecture/discussion and your expected to participate. Also, he doesn't let you keep any of your graded materials, so I sugest when he hands them back to look them over, write your grade down! Hes not so organized!
Ayuk is the best, if you study his PowerPoint presentation you will aces his class.
This professor is great. He lets you know what notes you are to pay special attention to because it will definitely be on an exam or quiz.
this is a very easy class. we had one homework assignment and that was extra credit. if he tells you to pay extra attention to something on the powerpoint, do so because it will definitely be on the test. lectures can get pretty boring and the chapters in the book are pretty long. overall its a really easy class. good gpa booster.
Ayuk is the best. We rarely used the book b/c most of your test material is coming from the powerpoints. Attendance is mandatory if you expect to pass. When he makes emphasis on certain facts in the p.point WRITE IT DWN it will be on the test. He gives map test like once a month,EASY,just review a couple nites before. Map test are also EASY.
This professor expects you to have the mind of a computer when it comes to memorizing multiple maps in different areas of the world. He is too hard and I would never recommend him. I never missed a day of class and read the material and still might fail.
Ayuk is a funny dude, he says attendance counts but if you need it for an A he won't count it. I don't know how he calculates the grades but its no math I've studies !1!
He sparks your interest. He nows his material
Excellent teacher. He knows his material. Very interesting class. Attendance is very important to him. He wants you to succeed.
Excellent teacher. Very knowledgeable. Attendance is important and so is reading the material. It was a fun and at times controversial class. I enjoyed it!
Dr. Ayuk was a wonderful professor, although I think he would have been better if the class weren't so big. If you talk to him outside of class, he's both knowledgeable and helpful.
Highly recommended! I found Dr. Ayuk's very easy. In order to succeed in his class it is very important to take advantage of his technological resources. He sends each powerpoint for the material covered and a key concept study guide. Take advantage of them. Studying is key. It leads to an A!
Very Easii class!.. Go to class read before goin if not his not goin to send the ppts before exams!... Reallii nice!
one of the best teachers at csu. Attendance is important but you would want to come because you will learn alot. besides the material being boring at times the class was not hard you just have to read the book and go over and over the powerpoints!the key terms are very helpful and he sends them before every test
With a name like Augustine, you'd have to be cool. He is such an awesome professor, very helpful and willing to help others who need it, all you have to do is ask. Augustine is a very professional and down to earth guy. Study the power points and read your book and your get an A if you put in the effort.
I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Ayuk's class. Sometimes the class can be a bit mundane whenever its all lecture. However, when discussion takes place the class really shines. I would encourage you to study his powerpoint slides and lecture notes for a good grade. However, there are some things on the exams that can only be found in the textbook.
He knows his subject, very intelligent. Doesn't post ppt on GAview but sends them to your email. He cares about everyone and remembers all of his students' names. You have to work for your A (study, come to class, listen, and read). He expects you to learn and work hard. He was a good professor.
Awesome professor, extremely helpful. Provides you multiple chances to replace bad grades. There is no way to fail this class unless you're Forrest Gump...Participating in open discussions is important for participation grade. Read the book before an exam if you want an A. Listen to his instructions and the questions expected on the exams.
Took this class in the summer, and struggled to get a B. The Instructor knows what hes doing, he tries to get people involve in class discussions, gives you the power point after the lectures. Its only tough because of the summer schedule which is short. To pass: study power points, and take notes in class.
Great professor. Highly recommended, but don't walk in thinking you won't have to put in any work because you surely will! Read the chapters and I recommend a study group.. pay attention to questions he asks in class and be there on time or you'll miss a lot of free test questions
This professor is very unorganized, he does not clarify his grading methods and he takes forever to grade work. Save yourself the headache
One of the many example of AWFUL professors at CSU. 10% of your grade is EXTRA CREDIT. That's right, you start off with a 90% in his class off the bat and have to work your way back up. He rarely responds to e-mails, no matter how important. Don't bother taking his class.
Run. Run far, far away. I came into this class knowing nothing about politics or government and that was the biggest mistake of my college career. English is not his first language and his tests are often very difficult to understand. Tests are EXTREMELY difficult.
He overloads us students with alot of useless stuff. His geography tests are ridiculous and very confusing. His ch. tests are confusing and full of fill in the blank and matching questions. Stay far away from this professor.
come to class prepared. he gives a lot of matching- type questions, fill in the blank questions and abbreviations which carries a lot of marks. study hard!
Took him for government freshman year and for global politics. He is very passionate about what he does. Pay attention to his PowerPoint's and read the book. He gives pop quizzes but you will know because he will press you to read a certain chapter before next class. must be a good note taker. easy A.
There was a lot of reading and long class lectures every class period. you have to Read otherwise you will fail. Too much information both relevant and irrelevant.
I took Dr. Ayuk's Amer. Gov't. over the summer. His class is interactive, which helps keep the yawns at bay! If you read the chapters, take good notes, and pay attention to what he emphasizes, you should do well! Understand, you must READ and STUDY if you're aiming for an A.
I took him for politics of the developing world(now pols 3322), no pop quizzes, and for exams you're writing essays. Be prepared to write a long research paper(10 pages minimum) and do a presentation of your research(use power point). The questions in his power points and the ones he ask in class are part of your exam questions. Attendance matters.
I took Professor Augustine for my American Government class. He is very clear throughout his lectures and he is very open to any questions about the lecture. You definately need to read the required text book in order to pass the class. He give bonus questions on test ( which is something that many other professors in his area don't do). Awesome!!
Dr. Augustine was an amazing professor! He offers many extra credit opportunities within the lectures and offered bonus questions withim the tests! He also sends out key conceputs before test and sends out his powerpoint lectures so his students can study for themselves. You MUST read the chapters and study thoroughly if you want to pass them.
When Professor Ayuk says read something, you should read it. He will give a pop quiz just to make sure everyone read the material. His test are hard is you do not pay attention, he goes over everything in class and sends the lecture powerpoints. He does have somewhat of a thick accent. He actually loves teaching, and will relate it to everyday life
I love Ayuk! I took him for American Government. He has great stories and will go through a lot to make you understand. He always cracks us up!! His tests were a little hard, but he gives SO much extra credit. Get a question right in class? 10 points! He's so nice and I would take him again any day!
If nothing else you should pass his geography tests. There is a lot of reading but he offsets the difficulty of the quiz with multiple choice, fill in the blank and matching and also some bonus fill in the black questions for extra credit. If you read according to his PowerPoints, you should get an A on every test.
This class was great, READ READ READ. Take good notes, show up everyday. Read. Beware of his Teacher assitant her lectures are not good. He is so much better, Test 2 is very difficult otehr than that first test is easy and you should be fine as long as you study and work hard. he also gives lots of extra credit and likes your participation
Keep up with the chapter readings. The pop quizzes are hinted upon before they occur, so be aware. There's plenty of bonus questions on the tests to help bring your grade up. If you are struggling with the graded work, talk to him and he'll give you extra credit work to help you pass.
First off, you can make an A in this class WITHOUT THE TEXTBOOK. He sends chapter notes to your email after each lecture, and they usually have all the information you need. His tests are very lengthy, and there will be questions that were not on his study guide. He has a lot of bonus questions on exams for you to rack up a lot of points.
Pay attention to the review. Study hard because it shows if you don't. His yet are easy for me because I study. Overall he isn't bad. He's pretty good.
Dr. Ayuk avails himself to his students. He also gives extra credit. His test can be intimidating even if you do study, so study! I cant stress that enough, STUDY AND READ GUYS! Otherwise, you wont pass. But hes an overall good professor, tough at times, but never not there for you, you just have to show that youre truly there to learn.
He knows his history very well and give great lectures. I took him during the summer and had a 4 hour class with him. He sends you the power points, all you need to do is REAAAD the book and LISTEN to his lectures and JOT down everything he SAYS IN CLASS! He gives extra credit in all his tests. JUST READ AND LISTEN IN CLASS! DONOT miss hisclass.
Discussion lectures, no homework, 2 papers and debates. 3 geo exams and 3 exams, so not a lot of grades for the semester. Not a fan of subjective participation points. Confusing grading system for exams and 90 percent book and 10 percent lecture rule. He gives extra credit and can be understanding though. He did stray from syllabus as warned.
3 tests, 3 geography quizzes, 2 article summaries, and 2 debates. If you stay on top of your work and participate in class you will be fine. Great professor! Cares about what he is teaching and tell you what will be on the test. Sends out key terms and the powerpoints, and review questions.
Its really an easy class. You should read the book. I didnt but you really should. It will help you in the long run. The geography tests and papers are basically cushion grades so please dont slack on those. His tests arent hard at all.
Very knowledgeable in the field of teaching. Motivational and very clear instruction on expectation. .Very respected and respectful of students. Attendance and class participation encouraged. Good feedback on assignments.
this professor provide clear and amazing lectures ... he will basically tell you whats on the test . Your grade depends on paying attention and the textbook. The textbook is free online! Openstax! He gives PLENTY of chances to help your grade, just study. The basic American government class. Debates, tests, notes, and a essay is what his class Is.
Amazing, cool dude. Definitely an easy A.
Very good professor, very passionate about this subject!
Be ready to read and study. Not a hard class as long as you put effort in.
Dr. Ayuk is one of the best teacher I have ever seen. He inspired me to love my classes. He was always there for us, he was more than a professor. He is an amazing teacher. He knows his subject and grab students attention during his course.
My problem wasnt the material (just read and take notes from the text you should do good, he uses webcam). My problem was him. He didnt respond to any of my emails towards the end and didnt grade everything either. He was disorganized and didnt edit d2l for the summer so there was a lot of confusion w/ everyone and always an error with quizzes
Absolutely terrible professor. I dont NOT recommend him at all. He is completely unresponsive to emails and is the test are completely different from the notes and study guide. Honestly I never struggle with the work load but I knew some people did. His instructions are very unclear. History is my favorite subject but he made his class unlikeable
He completely dropped the ball with the transition to online; by the time he even had information up for us, a quiz had already passed, with a no-quiz-dropped policy in effect. Trying to reach out was basically impossible: the most common response I'd get through email was a one-word response to a serious question. Fun class ruined, online at least
Took this class online & he was a great professor. Unit tests make up most of your grade & you need to do the weekly discussions(they add up at the end). If you take all the knowledge checks & read the pages he puts for each week, you have no choice but to make an A.
I had the prof. for online DE class. When you get answers incorrect, he always tells you what you did wrong and how you can fix it. He offered two additional credit options, one of which was a simple 2nd-grade level test on fundamental American history. His exams and quizzes were never too difficult, but they were also never too simple.
The most difficult professor I have ever had in my entire college career. His QUIZZES are 60+ questions on 2 chapters. The chapters are very content heavy but he does not give study materials or tell you what the quiz will cover so it is hard to obtain all of the information. He uses PPTs for lectures but does not cover the whole chapters.
BUY THE TEXTBOOK or you will fail. You have so many quizzes, it is overwhelming. He does good lectures and can keep your attention. His test are extremely hard/long and will give you a headache. You have group debates. They were not fun. They were just stressful. He is easy to communicate with, he does read his emails.
Dr. Ayuk doesn't respond to emails like ever trying to contact him is a huge hassle, the syllabus doesn't match course content we were supposed to have lectures and powerpoints none were in the class so it turned out to be random youtube videos from like 10 years ago with random pictures. Easy A but not a very attentive teacher.
The biggest issue with this Professor is that he fails to respond to emails so don't waste your time. Quizzes have multiple grammatical and punctuation errors. Map quizzes were hand drawn and inaccurate with the corresponding numbers to the countries. Syllabus was partially correct. Answers on quizzes marked as wrong when in fact they are correct.
Super chill and easy to understand, for the online class you can mostly work at your pace wish I liked. Due dates were clear and assignment instructions were too.
The class covers a lot of material, but staying on top of readings and assignments makes it manageable. Unstuckstudy was a lifesaver for quiz prep. The professor is engaged, though email responses can be slow at times.
he'll tel you that you can't pass without reading the textbook (which is very true) but be prepared to make VERY detailed quizlets or something to help you remember all of the vocab from the book. he wont always cover everything in class. if fact, most of it doesn't come from class.
I wish I liked Dr. Ayuk, he seems like a really nice guy. I'm finding everything to be confusing. What he refers to as a quiz, I would definitely consider a test (60 questions including fill in the blank). The "grades" section on D2l has assignments I can't find/don't know the due date of and I emailed him 3 days ago and haven't heard back since.
Great professor, the class is easy when you do the assigned readings.
Not a good communicator. I had trouble with an assignment, so I emailed her for guidance, she never answered. She ended up giving me an F on it and has yet to grade anything else of mine.
