Very helpful if you just ask. Only had class once a week. Pulled off an A and only went to class 3times. You do get attedance points though.
Very nice teacher. Easy to follow, clear, precise on what is going to be on the homework and quizzes. Great teacher.
Very nice but hard to understand.... and I mean HARD to understand. Will help you if you need it though.

Nice woman but hard to understand. She will help you outside of class, but the problem is she knows how to work the problems, but has a tough time teaching others how to.
Very nice woman. Any help you need, she will provide. She's a little unclear sometimes, but I took Calculus in high school and never understood it better than I did in her class.
Strange woman. Hard to understand her english sometines and she makes you feel sorry for her because no one participates in class. She not a great teacher but she is not a bad teacher either.
I enjoyed her lecture's because I was able to understand them. I didn't have a problem with her English. She devoted the time left over from lecture to go over a few of the difficult problems we'd face. She was especially helpful when she assisted in the math lab. Enjoyable class and I learned a lot.
She was very helpful. Moved a little fast with the material but is very good at what she does. Her English isn't very bad.
Ponta is very easy to understand. She works every problem step by step. Though the time and material force her to move fast, the material is still taught thoroughly. I had Calculus in High School and understand everything much better through her teaching. Also, her English is clear and nothing to complain about. Highly recommended!
annoying, sometimes hard-to-understand accent. gos through material very fast. you feel kind of bad for her because people sleep through her class and dont participate.
Although she knows what she is talking about, she's hard to understand sometimes because of her accent. Overall good class.
Class really wasn't hard but did require more effort.(If I had put in a little more effort it would have been an easy A) Ponta is somewhat hard to understand until you get used to her accent.
Work and study effort is required. Sometimes she is hard to understand due to her accent, but if you don't understand something on a test, quiz, or homework she will try her best to help you. EVERYTHING is on the internet, so get used to doing hw on the net; but other than that I would recommend her if your willing to work a little. Fast class.
She is hard to understand, due to her accent, but she does her best to help you. She goes through material extremely fast, so studying outside of class is neccessary. All the homework is on the computer, which makes it difficult, because you can get things wrong just for having the wrong form. She can be very funny at times.
For having an accent you can understand her pretty well. She has good english skills. She goes quick but if you ask questions she is more than happy to stop and make sure you comprehend the material. Tests were pretty difficult but that is about it. Getting A's on all the HW and quizes makes up for some points missed on a test.
Everything is online, so you just go to class for points. She does not teach, she just walks around and answers questions. But that is how all math 100 classes are. She is a nice person though.
Ms. Ponta is a really good teacher. Sure, she has an accent but it's not that bad at all. She almost teaches too much if I can say that. She takes the day before the test to review. I was pleased with her and I would recommend her.
Not a bad teacher at all. Her accent is not too bad, and she does help you as much as you need her to. Homework and quizzes online. Can be funny to listen to her sometimes.
Aurora was a great teacher. She was very helpful and her method of teaching was very effective. She did have an accent but anyone who can't understand her must be deaf.
Easy class, and she teaches the material well and is willing to help if you ask. She reviews before every test so take the time to buy the practice test and work it out before you go to class so you have questions to ask her. The online homework wasn't bad, and the tests were ok just make sure you type the answers the right way into the answer box!
Very good teacher. She goes over everything very well in class. She takes attendance, but only counts for a small portion of your grade. All work is done online, and you do not have to get lab hours. Tests are not that difficult if you review the study guide. Overall an easy class, I got an A.
She goes through the material pretty fast and she knows it so well that she expects you to know it when you get to class. Look over notes before going to class and if you have any problems with math, get a tutor.
The one time I actually asked for help, she did not do a good job of explaining it to me.
web based class. u had to go to class once a week just to work on assignments. completely taught online, nit hard to learn. 4 test with helpful study guides. dont buy the book cuz its on the cd. she drops the lowest quiz & hw grade each test period.
Shes a good teacher. Explains everything you need to know and how to do the problems for the homework and quizzes. She has a SLIGHT accent, hardly a disadvantage. As long you can understand your professor, Math at UA is what you put into it.
I would NOT advise taking Math 115. I would have saved myself from a lot of stress if I had just taken 112 & 113 instead. This is a FAST-paced class, with two homeworks and a quiz due every time we met. Ms. Ponta is not the clearest, either, and would never work out the difficult problems. I learned everything by the "show me how" on the homework.
She really does try to help as much as he can. U.A requires that you memorize formulas and the unit circle, but she does print out all the formulas for you and brings practice test to class so you don't have to go get one from the math lab. She has an accent, but it isn't too hard for you to understand her. You just have to work hard in this class.
Ponta is a good teacher. She has a slight accent but is pretty easy to understand. Does a good job of explaining things and will do near anything to help you out.
Ponta is a very nice teacher. She goes over every type of problemm that will be on the hw's and quizzes. She does have a accent but it should not be a problem. She does not mind reworking a problem or repeating herself if you do not understand her the first time. GREAT ClASS AND EASY TO PAY ATTENTION!
Has a slight accent, but the problem is that she speaks very quietly and refuses to use a microphone. Points are given for attendance and this along with homework can boost your grade considerably. So show up for class! Oh, and absolutely don't buy the book. I haven't used it at all.
Wonderful teacher! Accent isn't a problem once you adjust to it, but you may want to sit closer to the front. She explains things thoroughly, and is ALWAYS helpful when you have questions. Attendance is part of the class, but that's no problem. If you want to make a good grade, then you need to go for the lessons anyway. I will take her again!
Professor Ponta is an excellent teacher. If you sit close enough to the front that you can hear her, the accent is not that bad. I had no trouble understanding her. She explains things very well and will make sure you understand if you ask questions. Don't buy the book for the class- you won't need it!
She has a slight accent but understandable. She explains problems well and will help you after class if you need it. As long as you pay attention and take notes this class is a breeze.
At one point i was failing she called me up after class and said what can i do to help you pass she has helped me so much i was getting f's on test then after she helped me i got a 92.5%
Honestly, her accent is not really a problem at all, she speaks very clearly and if you sit close to her you can understand well. She's VERY nice, and she always sends out email reminders or just emails when you do well on the tests. Do the homework and you'll be fine. CLICKER REQUIRED
I found her to be quite useless, to the point that I stopped paying attention in class and just taught myself. Aweful class though to be fair, the prof is hardly involved, pretty much everything is online.
terrible terrible. Couldnt understand her accent, and she is not the nicest. I never looked forward to going to class, and I got a very bad grade.
Attendance is 1 point. Russian accent but is very clear about what she is saying.
This class is very difficult to take online, I emailed her several times to ask recommendations and she only gave vague answers and was very impersonal. I ended up dropping the class due to not being able to communicate with her.
Ms. Ponta is a pretty good teacher but you really have to pay attention because the material is pretty difficult. Some are saying she's kind of rude, but I don't think she even realizes it, it's just her personality.
I really enjoyed her class! She is Russian so she does have an accent, but i could understand it. If you have problems hearing her then just sit in the front and you will be fine! Although math is not the most interesting subject, she explains things really well. She was really sweet and her style was always classy. I recommend!
Attendance is 1 point, so I have not attended class this semester at all. I have talked with her via email and she was extremely helpful when I was going through surgery and turning things in late. The class is easy if you're math oriented. I would recommend taking her, she's easy to get in contact with and wants students to pass.
Her class is not that hard. She posts all of the class notes online, so if you print them and work out the examples in class as she does them, you should be more than fine. Her accent is not that bad, just sit closer to the middle/front if you cant understand her.
She is a great teacher. She is always willing to answer your questions and help you. She has an accent, but I never had any trouble understanding what she was saying.
she is very nice lady. she will help you out is you email her.
Most the class you could do yourself online but whenever I had a problem she was right there to answer it. I think she is good at what she does.
Wonderful teacher! I took here for Business Calculus and she was clear about everything. I'm not the best math person, but she made it so that I understood everything that was going on. I ended up with an A in the class.
Lectures were clear-cut and all about the material. Test are kind of hard (but again, I am not much of a math person). One thing is guaranteed, if you ask her for help, she will try her hardest to help you understand the material. Also, helps to get to know her and she will be more willing to help.
Has an accent but you will get used to it. The test reviews are very helpful for doing well on the tests. I liked how you could work ahead and make at least a 90% on HW and quizzes so you wouldn't have to go to class and receive credit for attendance. I stopped going to class halfway through the semester and made an A. Lowest test grade is dropped.
She is so nice and really wants you to pass. She will go over any and all homework, review, or test problems that you want. Slight accent but easy to understand. Attendance mandatory for every class but no lab hours required. A lot of homework for this course but it helps to pull your grade up if you struggle on tests.
It's a lot of homework, and she has an accent that is hard to understand. She always offers to help you if you do not understand something, and her classes are usually very short.
Professor Ponta just taught me precalculus and honestly you could just do all of the work online and still pass. The lectures that I did attend were very informative but honestly a waste of time. Her accent is a little strange at first but you get used to it and it is easy to understand.
Nice lady, but don't bother going to class, it's a waste of your time. The class is easy enough that you never have to. If you do struggle, however, Ponta is very willing to help you and is very approachable. I'd take her class again.
Mrs. Ponta is fabulous. She is very approachable and is always willing to stop and help anyone for any reason. Homework and quizzes are very annoying and multiply quickly, but she has no control over that. I'd certainly take her again.
She's very helpful, and she's easy to understand. Math is not my thing but she takes her time to explain it. She provides the notes for you on WebAssign, so you can just print them out, bring them to class, and fill them out as you go in class. This is SUPER helpful for you won't spend all your time trying to keep up, so you have time to listen.
She is a really sweet teacher.
Very sweet lady. 10% extra credit if you do the homework 24 hours before it is due.
easy math class if you are looking to get your math credit. attendance is mandatory but she is a great teacher and is really good at making sure everyone understands. she offers notes to print out for each class. has lots of office hours to go and get help. her accent can sometimes be a little tough but pretty easy to get past and understand.
Really sweet lady. She moves fast in class sometimes and has an accent, but that is easily adjusted to. There was online homework after every lecture but it wasn't too much. Attendance is mandatory, which could be annoying some days when I already knew the material being taught for that day. But not a bad class or professor at all
She explained the concepts very well in my opinion. I took Trig and Algebra in high school so having that background definitely helped me in this class. I would not recommend this to someone who has never taken trig or advanced algebra. She does move fast and there is homework due every class, but other than that it is not too hard of a class.
Professor Ponta is an easy professor but is essentially a robot. She will explain everything perfectly but its a lifeless class, so if you're looking for a fun, lively professor - she is not your girl. However, she does care a lot, and makes sure you understand concepts. P.S. She has a slight Eastern European accent - so just be aware of that.
Definetly take this class. She's very caring and wants each of her students to succeed. Printing out the notes before class will really help and stay later on the classes before the test because she goes over the review.
An amazing teacher, she goes over the subjects and the criteria very well and does a great job of teaching. She is not the most exciting of teachers, but she does her job and she does it well. I would recommend to anyone as she knows what she teaches and she is always at the math lab in case you need assistance, again she is a great teacher.
Do the homework and pay attention in class and you should be fine
Professor works incredibly fast through the entire lecture leaving all 200 of her students behind. memorization is very heavy in her class. you will end up with several formulas to memorize every few days. she will also not remind you to memorize these, leaving you open to a surprise when testing. the class is paired with WebAssign so 10/10 there
Ponta is a very good teacher. She explains everything and answers all questions. She does move quickly, so if you are a slow learner I wouldn't recommend. But all homework and tests are online.
She is a solid teacher but the pace she moves at is extremely fast. Took all honors and AP math in High School and still struggled to keep up at times. She does cover material well though and gives 10% bonus if you do hw 24+ hours in advance. cumulative review on Webassign for each unit is extremely helpful and is good indicator of how test will be
Prof. Ponta was an awesome professor. She was clear and made the class easy. I'd take any math class she taught.
Ponta does have a slight European accent, but it will have nothing to do with the grade you receive. It is hard to understand but the homework and quizzes count so much towards you're grade, so it helps a lot. Study and it is an easy A! She is so nice and tries to help as much as she can!
All the completed notes are uploaded to Blackboard and the study guides for the tests are super helpful. I just barely missed a 98% and she bumped it up to a A+, super sweet & helpful teacher. I would take her again.
She is nice, but her lectures are a little boring. You get 10% bonus if you finish homework a day early. You do not need to go to class because she doesn't take attendance.
Aurora Ponta is a very good professor with clear grading, testing, and homework assignments. She is fair and very open to discussing homework outside of class. Be forewarned, her classes tend to be large, so don't expect a personal relationship with her. Also, be sure to attend class to understand all of the material that she teaches.
Ponta is a great professor. Though she moves fast, she makes sure her students understand the material. There is a lot of online homework which I did not like... BUT there is 10% bonus for every assignment you complete early. Easy A, definitely take!
tons of extra credit. Easy A, not the best communicator but she is fine as a professor.
Professor Ponta is very good at explaining her subject, just don't expect it to be exciting.
Mrs. Ponta delivers information well and will not surprise you. She throws fastballs rather than curveballs. There is no reason to not get an A or A+ if you take her for 115. Very straightforward and every question on the exams and final will have been shown beforehand in homework or notes (or on other tests).
Professor Ponta is a fine teacher. Like most math classes at UA, it's very hands off and all the homework, tests, reviews, and quizzes are handled through Webassign (which I can't stand but that doesn't reflect on Professor Ponta). She's good at explaining material and always held reviews before tests and walked through review problems when asked.
She teaches really well, but the material was challenging for me. The class is set up like MATH112, so all homework and reviews are through WebAssign. You can get 10% extra credit if you do these early. Also, one test and one review are dropped including the final.
I personally had no experience with calc, but you will be able to pass. Of course a lot of webassign work, but its math so its the usual. I didn't really learn much from going to class, but she uploads her completed notes from class on blackboard and the problems pretty much mirror her homework. YOU WILL PASS if you study!
This class was okay. Granted, I've never been great at math, but I feel like this is one of those classes where the amount of hw will burn you out over time. I started the class telling myself I would get 110% on all my hw, but ended up with about an 80 average. Attendance isn't required but will make your life A LOT easier.
not hard at all, just DO YOUR work. i didn't go to class except the first day and if i would have done the work on time i woulda made an A lmao. she has the completed notes for everything uploaded, ITS GREAT.
The best math professor I've ever had. The WebAssign program is extremely helpful in learning the material and grants lots of extra credit for doing assignments early. Ponta also gave great in-class lessons. 20/85 of the students consistently showed up, so any complaints come from those who never went to class and expected an A. Awesome course!
Precalc was never my strong subject but Professor Ponta makes it relatively easy to succeed. If you complete the homework and reviews early, you get 10% extra credit on them. Tests correlate heavily to the reviews, so if you can do the reviews, you will do well on the tests. Her lectures are dry but she is very knowledgeable and willing to help.
I hate math but her class was super easy. She posts all her completed notes online and they are super easy to follow.
She is honestly one of the best math teachers I have had, but the tests are hard and do not have very many questions on them. There is a lot of homework but it is nothing that can't be done in less than an hour.
Hands down best trig professor I've had.
Ponta is a great proff! It's a math class so you have to work for the grade you want. I personally suck at math but I brought myself up from a 52% to a 90% in the class. Trig is really easy if you go to class, take notes, do the homework, and go to the mathlab once a week to get her help. She seems intimidating at first but she's really caring.
Pretty easy to understand her teaching but there is lots of homework. Every day of class there is a homework assignment due. She will also go off on tangents nearly every class about students being on their phone, leaving early, not paying attention or asking questions and that is very annoying and takes up class time. Do with that what you will.
She is a good professor, hard to understand sometimes because of her foreign accent. She is nice to the students and has time outside of class you can go ask her questions. Posts her completed notes online so you don't even have to go to class to know how to fill out the notes. I took Calculus in high school so it was easy for me.
Helping hand when needed. Has an accent but it doesnt bother me at all. Clear when explaining work.
She is a great math professor and cares a lot for her students. She's willing to talk all problems out after class. Homework is online and everything that is on it is gone over HEAVILY in the class itself. Tests are fairly easy and there's no surprises on them. Take this professor if you want a good understanding of math with a little elbow grease!
She is a great teacher and knows all the ins and outs of math. She taught the main way to work out a problem and then one or two other ways if you didnt like the first way. She would tell you what you need to know for the test and would always have review days before.
Dr. Ponta's class was really easy. All of the work is online and you don't even have to show up to the lectures if you already know how to do the homework. The test questions are the same on the homework and reviews and she did a good job in lecture giving us notes for the homework. If you stay on top of your work, her class should be a breeze.
Ponta is an amazing teacher who cares about her students. Although attendance doesn't affect your grade, her lectures will definitely be the reason you pass the test. I'm not the best at math but Ponta will be the reason I pass.
Ponta is an adequate professor. Her lectures were mostly helpful, but boring. My criticisms mostly cite her lack of honesty in the her grading criteria. She explained to our class she would bump up on our grade if we attended almost all classes, as I did. When I had a grade of 97 (98 is an A+), I emailed her for the bump to no answer. Ridiculous.
Dr. Ponta clearly knows what she's talking about when it comes to math. She zooms through lectures, but she's pretty straightforward and she always leaves time for questions, so you should be fine. attendance doesn't affect your grade, but I would recommend attending her lectures. lots of homework, but usually pretty quick and easy.
She's a solid professor and really knows her stuff. No matter what your question is, she'll be able to answer it in multiple ways to help you understand. Her notes are really straight forward and line up well with the homework and tests. Pay attention, ask questions, and you'll pass her class.
professor ponta explains every concept in such depth that its easy to understand. the topics aren't that complex. she cares about her students doing well. she just asks that students respect her and aren't on their phones in class. she really did make this class so doable, would definitely recommend taking her
One of the worst teachers I have had so far. Had a problem with lockdown browser then asked her to help and all she did was yell at me for using it wrong. Terrible person.
literally worst teacher ever. i took her online class and all she did was fill out the notes and put them on a pdf and we had to teach ourselves. every time i emailed her with a question she wouldn't answer it ever. i literally taught myself pre-calculus. do NOT take her if you have any other option
The only reason I got an A was because I took pre-cal in high school, but they made me take it again. Definitely not a good choice for a teacher if you like interacting and asking questions, she took over a week to respond to one of my emails even after I sent multiple follow ups. If you've never taken pre-cal, try to get a different professor.
Overall Professor Ponta cares about her students and you can tell she wants you to succeed. However she uses an online math homework program that is expensive and complicated and there are many many homework assignments every week. Lastly she doesn't penalize for attendance but if you want a good grade go for sure! Hard tests but she tries to prep
Honestly the worst professor/teacher I have ever had. Does not care about her students and gives you so much homework. Be ready to teach yourself the material because you cant understand her and the tests are super hard. Good luck. Do not take her at all costs.
Kind of heavy accent, but class overall was easy she just can be tough to understand. The notes she gives come in handy.
Literally doesn't teach the lesson. She will give a few examples and then be done. Awful teacher very hard to understand. You will be teaching this material to yourself because she is clearly not a teacher. Stay as far away from this class as you can!
Has a thick accent and gets very mad about if your mask isn't on right. Besides that, pretty good. If you do all the homeworks and unit reviews you will most definitely pass with an A!
I honestly could not stand her. She was super rude and wasted a lot of time in class getting onto students for stupid things.
Took 125 not 121. I struggled in this class and was worried I actually was going to fail the class. Aurora took the time to meet me in her office and I literally bawled in front of her. SHE IS AMAZING. She gave me not just advice for the class but for life. Really cared about me as a person and was there cheering me on as I started to do better.
For Math-125, Mrs. Ponta is a good option. She is willing to help any students who might be struggling with a topic, and you can almost always find her in the Math lab. The class difficulty really just boils down to how good you are at math/calculus. She has a slight accent, but it does not affect the class. She is very nice and supportive.
I took Math 125 with Professor Ponta this semester. She is a sweetheart and willing to help. She understands the difficult adjusting to college and will provide advice and encouragement. She is a good lecturer and the pretests are very very similar to the tests. I would take her again if I could.
She is a great professor. She takes the time in lectures to make sure that everyone understands what is going on. Attendance is not mandatory. As long as you understand the material and do all the homework, you will do great.
Bama By Distance. Aurora knows her stuff. Her lectures are fast paced and she will say out loud what she is thinking, but will not write it down, so you HAVE to pay attention. 4 tests and a comprehensive final taken through Examity Live Proctoring (You are responsible for paying for this. $14/test!) Will drop lowest test and three lowest homework.
She's a great teacher. Very funny. I would take her again 100%
Professor Ponta was a great teacher for Math 125. I did not have a strong math background from high school and I was very nervous about taking calculus. She likes to have conversations and make personal connections with her students. She is great at what she does, but I would not have done as well in the class if I did not attend tutoring weekly.
Pretty good at explaining concepts and the class is set up for you to get a good grade if you turn homework in on time and study for tests. Helpful if you ask questions one on one, but shoot people down and make them feel dumb for asking questions in class. Homework gives practice problems that help learn outside of class. Has sorta a thick accent
Bama By Distance. Overall this class was easy, but I could not have passed without going to tutoring. She is not very good at answering questions clearly, but replies swiftly. I would take this professor again. She drops the lowest test score and homework score.
Super helpful and answers super fats when you request help on web assign. 2-3 homework assignments a week that are pulled directly from the test so it helps. Her lectures are efficient and she explains things super well and easy to understand. Understanding and all homework have extra credit opportunities
Class was mostly going over practice problems and answering questions. Online homework problems due 2-3 times a week. Quizzes and tests are online and are easier than the homework. Professor Ponta wants everyone to understand the material and she is often available outside of class. She has an accent, but it is not too difficult to understand.
I actually took this class twice, first time got to mostly the end and had to drop due to workload of other classes. The second time I took it of course I had some tactics for improvement and adjusted study habits. Aurora is very awesome, reachable by email and super available. Her lectures are amazing, would love to have her for all math classes.
Slight accent but not difficult to understand. Tests are exactly what you expect, no gotcha questions at all. Just show up to class and understand the homework assignments for an easy A.
She has a hard accent, and I had this class in high school, but she teaches so much differently, makes things more complicated than they are. But I only went to class for the first 3 weeks and ended with an a+, just stay on top of your work. mandatory final, 4 tests and you can drop 1, 12 quizzes. Almost never answers emails though
She has an accent that you get used to pretty quickly. She's very good at explaining concepts and wastes no time. Just seems like a very nice person and I would feel sorry whenever random people would skip class / talk over her in the back of the class and whatnot.
Aurora was a good professor. I had no calculus background, and I am still ending the semester with an A. Homework and tests are easy if you study; however, they're both on WebAssign, which is definitely a downfall. You get drop quizzes, tests, and homework. Recitation is mandatory, but it helps prepare you for the tests!
Ms. Ponta is very accessible outside of class and truly wishes the best for her students. You can get upwards to 110 points for your recitation grade in which you are allowed to work with those next to you and ask questions to TAs. The practice problems test the exact concepts on the actual exams. Very straightforward class.
She was a very good teacher and very accessible outside of class. She does talk fast and has an accent but I could understand what she was doing on the board and she would always leave time to answer questions. Highly recommend.
Great teacher. Lectures clearly explain course content. Grading is very clear in syllabus. Responds to emails fast, helps students if confused. Small accent, not hard to understand.
