Very clear on what will be on the post labs. Great lab teacher for Bio 115, much better than most other teachers.

Loved Hicks! He had powerpoint notes online, and the test questions pretty much came straight from those. He gives clicker quizzes like once a week, they're semi difficult, but you can use notes. He gave like 25 bonus points throughout the course. I took him on TR and he let us out at least 20 min early every time. TAKE HICKS! You won't regret it!

For an online class to use paper exams is a disappointment. Due to the structure of the assignments, grading is not quick. Austin is very responsive to emails and questions. Tests are tough, very thorough and a lot of detail is needed to answer the questions. If you do your homework and labs, plus study the chapter questions, you will pass.

To make an easy A in this class just study the expected learning outcomes. This class takes time but overall is about as good as it gets for Anatomy 2.

His tests are very straight forward, and are a lot like the clicker quizzes. Made an A without having to study all that much, but anatomy is pretty easy. He let us out early like 80% of the time, and he's not super boring. Study and go to class, and you will make an A!

Mr. Hicks is pretty cool! His tests are off of the powerpoint slides, so the book really isn't required unless you need some extra help. He is a funny guy and makes the lectures interesting. He gives extra credit and the tests are easy if you study. Gives you help if you ask! Liked the class alot.

He isn't the easiest teacher if you don't study, but put in any kind of effort and you will pass. He doesn't give out study guides but all the slides are posted online. He gives random clicker quizzes so show up to class. He also explains things very well. I found the lab to be far more difficult than the class.

I took anatomy 2 with him, and I do not regret it at all!!! Not only does he give open quizzes almost every class, but he also makes a lot of quizzes bonuses. He is funny and gets really animated while teaching and reading the slides. Does not give a study guide but gives outcomes that are basically a study guide. His homework is very simple.

Relatively easy considering it was a major science course. Gives quizzes in class that really help to boost your grade. Tests are based completely off of what he says in class and what is on the lecture slides! Don't waste your time with the study area.

I enjoyed Professor Hicks' lectures. He doesn't give study guides for exams, which makes them difficult. Tests range anywhere from 4-6 chapters per exam. It was an interesting class. I enjoyed it.

I took this class online. Be prepared to have two modules due a week that are pretty heavy (1 module worksheet, 2 lab assignments, 1 diss + two responses) per module. However, that was easy. His exams were difficult to me. I studied everything in the learning module but yet still fell short. Easy to contact and understanding of situations.

I enjoyed the class - Austin really knew his material and I like bio. However, his powerpoints are extremely long, and I have found that Quizlet saves the day in this course. It definitely takes time to study for this class, so don't wait too long. There's a big chunk of HW due the night before the exam, so don't wait until then to begin, either.

Great professor. It is a lot of material, but if you study all of the slides you will be fine for the tests. Start studying the material at least a week and a half before the test. If you do not understand something you can make an appointment and he is happy to help.

Tests are based off of PowerPoints. He offers a decent amount of extra credit for it being a science course. The class is hard because it is anatomy, but it is not impossible. You definitely have to work hard to get a good grade.

I went to his office hours after doing his learning outcomes and he basically told me what I needed to focus on. His powerpoints are lengthy but if you focus on what he puts in red or blue, you will do fine. He gives clicker quizzes randomly so attendance isn't mandatory, but that really pays off in the end.

If you attend lecture and pay attention somewhat you'll easily pass this class. Reading the chapters before doing the homework helps for homework but especially the tests. All tests are based on the lecture slides. Only grades are prelecture quizzes, tests, and online homework, and the lab.

Mr. Hicks was a good professor overall. You do have learning catalytics questions just about everyday. His lectures are very slide heavy and he pretty much reads off of them, but the exams come directly from his slides!

Mr. Hicks is a good professor. The reason people complain about this class so much is that they are not willing to put in the work. The majority of the class is lectures and tests but most of the tests come from the homework and the slides. No reason you shouldn't pass this class if you make the time to do well days in advance.

Professor Hicks teaches anatomy just as you would expect, his lectures are not overly exciting but they get the job done. His lecture notes are set up like a study guide and his exams are based right off of your notes.

He gets the job done as well as you can expect any anatomy teacher to do. I definitely found him to be a better professor than who I had for 215. The material is hard and I'd rather eat glass than take it again, but I'd recommend him if you have to take it.

his ratings scared me but after having him I honestly dont know why they were so bad. The lectures are boring but he records them and doesnt take attendance. To me the tests were pretty easy and came straight from the slides. As a person who struggled in chem, I barely had to try in this class to make an A. He also answers emails quickly

Mr. Hicks called this Biology for non-majors class "anatomy" but is called biology. He is a fair grader. If you just read the powerpoints, you should pass. Going to lecture isn't required but it helped because he would occasionally say what was going to be on the exam. Read the slides and listen in class and you will be fine. No pop quizzes

Professor Hicks is chill AF. He is very aggressive when he speaks but he is super nice and provides a ton of help. He gets to the point on these topics and doesn't overcomplicate them when it comes to the tests. I have enjoyed him overall, much better class in general than 215. I recommend him (usually he is the only option lmao).

I really loved Professor Hicks. I spent more time studying for this class than any of my others, though. A lot of people think this class is too hard, but that really is the nature of anatomy. If you want to do well on the exams, take him up on his offer and submit your LOs to him. His feedback helped me significantly.

Seems like a genuine, good guy. Class is very lecture heavy but, cover all material you need to know. He also offers to review your answers to the learning objectives displayed at the beginning of each lecture to help you realize if you are truly understanding the lecture material.

He lectures pretty fast, but it is a lot of information to cover and know. He's very accessible after class and wants to help you if you need it, so don't hesitate to go up to him with questions!

Hicks is very knowledgeable about A&P and seems to be a nice guy. This course is hard, considering it's nature, but he prepares students really well. He gives in class quizzes, which should help boost your grade and he offers bonus questions on each exam. The learning objectives are the best study tips for the exams

Mr. Hicks was a great professor. His exams do not try to trick students and they are very straightforward. He does not make the class any harder than it needs to be and his lectures were very interesting.

Prof. Hicks is honestly everything you want in a professor. Very straightforward with everything he does, gives good lectures, and has good PPs that are accessible outside class. If you want an A, go to class. But if you study the PPs and skip here and there, you still will get a B or C. Tests are reasonable. Lab is what you need to look out for.

Professor Hicks knows his stuff! He doesn't just read off of a PowerPoint and doesn't waste your time in lecture. There are in class open-note quizzes every once and awhile, so make sure you attend class even though lectures are recorded. Straight forward exams based off of learning objectives. Lab for BSC 216 is tough.

Hicks knows his stuff. If you go to the lecture and actually listen, you'll learn a lot. You HAVE to be engaged during the lectures and study the learning outcomes for the exams. The exams are very fair, lab exams are tough but similar to Anatomy 1.

Great professor, exams are easy. There are quizzes in class so attendance is mandatory, but they are easy. TAs for this class were so bad. Lab exams are extremely difficult, but lecture exams are easy. Lecture grade was an A, but lab grade brought it down tremendously. If you had to take this class definitely take his, but be careful with your TA.

Great teacher, hard class. Be sure to show up for lectures because he describes concepts in detail that will help you on the test, also has pop quizzes throughout the year. You get out what you put in with this class. Professor Hicks sets his students up for success, its all a matter of personal effort. Every lecture is recorded and sent out, every powerpoint is available for students, and several resources for studying. Extra credit on all lecture and lab exams.

There are pop quizzes in lecture. All lectures are recorded and can be rewatched from home. Mr. Hicks is very willing to meet outside of class and will even look over your study guide for you. If he sees you are putting work in he is willing to help you from there. Lecture exams are difficult, I thought lab exams were much easier than in 215.

The class is hard in nature, but he does his best to make it as painless as possible. There are quizzes before or after most classes, but they can be completed from home and your lowest 2 quiz grades are dropped. ALSO all his exams are on Quizlet. Lab was not super difficult, but that depends on your TA. If you are taking BSC 216 TAKE HIM!!!!!!!

All his tests are on quizlet (not word for word so still study). Skip the learning outcomes and study the DSMs, quizlets, and study area on Pearson. He has a quiz every class for attendance, he drops 2 of the quizzes. Quizzes are online in Pearson (easy). He also records his lectures.

Has daily in-class quizzes for attendance. Online HW helps to add padding to your lecture grade. Anatomy is a hard class in nature but his power points and bolded or red information are very useful when studying.

The tests are relatively similar to the ones on quizlet. He records the lectures so if you watch them live you don't have to go to class, just get the quiz code and do it from home. Lab is hard. Expect to study many hours before every exam to get an A. I feel like the professor doesn't make much of a difference for this kind of class anyways
