She tries hard, real hard, so there is no problem there. However, sadly, she has a deep Iranian accent and jumps all around subjects in lectures. It is much easier and effective to just work out of the book, and you'll get a better grade. In a class of 50, all but 4 failed the first exam. Mind we studied nothing but high-school level subjects.

Absolutely terrible professor. She is often rude when students ask questions and she doesn't do a very good job of answering them. The exam questions aren't clear (frequent grammatical errors and generally poor wording). You're allowed to miss 2 small assignments and there are 6 exams in all. Make sure she gives you credit on work that you turn in.

She really is not as bad as a professor as most people are saying. People are exaggerating her accent, it really isn't that hard to understand (I've seen way worse). All you need to do is study the powerpoints and you'll be fine; that's all I do and I'm getting 99% in that class. She explains the material fine, just pay attention in lecture.

This professor is absolutely terrible. I took Biology in high school and did fine. Coming here and taking Avisa was the worst thing I could have done. If given the option, you want to switch. Makes concepts very confusing. I went to her office hours more then once to point out answers to questions from quizzes that didn't match notes and was told MORE THEN ONCE from her that questions should be deleted because they were wrong. The key to her class is to learn bio her way unfortunately. LONG HW.

By far the hardest class I've taken, wasn't flexible with office hours (I had classes during them and she didn't set up appointments beside those times), A LOT of work/studying if you want a good grade, even though the tests and quizzes were online you still had to study a lot

Some people may not like this prof but I enjoyed her a lot. Her office hours are amazing and everyone should go to them, she cares so much about her students! Her assignments are difficult and so are her tests and quizzes but they are all online. If you study the stuff and take time to read the book, anyone can do it. Study powerpoints !

Before I took her class, I looked at her ratings on here and figured she wasn't as bad as what everyone says. However, she is pretty difficult. I recommend not skipping the class because her powerpoints are confusing until she explains them. You have online quizzes every week that can be hard; and you have four assignments that are extremely hard.

I would recommend getting a tutor for the homework assignments as well. If you don't you will spend 3 hours on 6 problems. overall a mediocre professor

Dr. A. is very passionate about biology and also wants her students to succeed. That being said, her quizzes, tests and homework are very difficult and sometimes confusing due to incorrect wordage.
