A genuinely nice guy, who puts up with a lot
Man, this guy can't make the difference between a function and a rock.....
I feel sorry for the poor guy. He really tries, but wasn't born to teach.
Axel rules!
Nobody teaches math like Axel
yay axel!
nicest, funniest prof. very relaxed classroom atmosphere
SO SEXY!!!
Ya I think math is okay good ya
AXEL IS GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!

AXEL IS A STUD.
Axel is my hero.
should not touch the other's wive
he's the funniest prof around! the material was easy, & he was an easy marker. the class was out of control, but he took it in stride. he's awesome!
i'm not very good at math and he's not very organized.. but he's hilarious just cause of his accent :)
He makes class fun. His name is Axle, for goodness sake!
Axel is cool, but he should get a longer wire on his headset!
Very helpful and fun! Class wasn't boring, although it seemed really hard ( a lot of theory). But his exam was fair, and didn't have many profs in it! Great guy!
Not particularly entertaining, but not boring. Really, really clear explanations without having to go annoyingly slow or repeat himself. Easy marker, and prepares you well for his tests. Get this teacher.

kick-ass teacher. if only the class wasn't at 8:30
"goot morning". we want your babies!!!
excellent
Definitely one of the best that the math dept has....His class lectures are the main thing one has to study for the test. Very good knowledge of teaching courses. and yeah ..he is a KICK ASS prof.."Sooo Good morning"
amzing prof
He's such a great prof! If you have to take calculus, make sure it's with him. He's cute too...that accent does it every time.
excellent lectures! very clear and straight-forward. he also has a very cute accent:)
Goot morning...so awesome
I like Hundemer. HE's a good guy. Explains stuff very well. He admits his mistakes too which can be rare.
Good guy
"Okyyy, goot mornin' everyone. Okyyy so let's get startit.."Amazing prof.. though I don't really like his exams..
Explains everything clearly. At times goes very fast, his class is oevrall pretty easy once yuo get past teh first midterm.
Hallo! Ich bin Hundemer.
He's obviously new to teaching; however, he does his best to make the class interesting, to keep things fair. Even when the students are rude he is still a nice guy. I would definitely recommend him to anybody.
This class was relatively easy. He was very laid back considering the majority of the time there was constant talking or interupting in the classroom. The assignments were very easy too as well as the tests. Definately recommended!
i dont know what it was abt this guy, but i really liked taking his stats class. it was the first time ive actually had a good math teacher at McGill. assts are easy, the midterm is hard if you dont study for it
He is a German, speaks like one, and teaches like a German Machine. Rattles on and on without stopping. His German accent is way cool! "Dees equashun eees naught deefinet for eyyks tooo."Doesnt dress like a prof. A casual button shirt, yellow casual boots and a pair of Levi's! Rock on Dr Hundemer!
Axel is the best math prof at McGill without a doubt. His class is engaging and interesting, not to mention somewhat laid back. If you go to class and take notes, study for the exams and do the assignments by yourself, the sky's the limit. I would definately take this class again in a flash. Axel is a German god, and all must bow down before him.
Very good prof! I really enjoy his calculus classes, but just hope that I am awake for his classes as they are 830 in the morn! Very helpful, but beware of his exams, they can kill you at times. But generally a very good prof.
Very good teacher who teaches the subject matter clearly. His exams can be tricky though so be ready for anything.
Great math teacher. His notes are more than enough to prep for the midterms and finals. Adorable accent!!! "Alright, letz get star-ted." Axel is a Math God!
Great teacher. Quite German, but quite funny. Enjoys saying "abusive notation"
You have to study hard, but I absolutely recommend him, he has a strong accent, but understandable!!! Very clear on what he teaches, and always willing to help.
i would not really recommend pppl to take him if u have a weak math background. He grading scheme is correct or 0 and his exams r nothing like the sample final he gives out. Hes very nice and will help u alot, and hes a GREAT teacher, yet if u r weak in math, dont take him. Other than that good luk!
best prof ever!!!!
One of the best prof's i've taken so far. Make sure you attend the lectures and you'll do fine. The quizes, midterms and final were representing the material taught in class and you had more than enough time to complete them. Highly recommended...
One of the best teachers at mcgill! really makes the things easy! wht i really like in class was the fact that he spent alot of time doing examples which really helped! do attend the lectures, questions he does in class often appear in quizzes, midterm and/r finals!
Good teacher, especially for a math teacher. Made his class simple yet made boring material seem somewhat interesting. Very approachable guy. Unfortunately his final exam was awful especially compared to his midterm...it wasn't weighted at all it was essenitally an assignment on the last chapter of the book. Other than that it was a good class.
Great Prof! Real Funny Guy- he didn't write the exam so can't say anything bout that
A great prof! and extremely cute =]
Hundy is the man. If you are willing to take Calc in the afternoon TAKE HUNDEMER. Not only is he a very nice guy (very willing to meet with you even outside his office hours) his lectures are clear and concise and occasionally he lets you out early. 2 thumbs up for Axel, course is not too difficult- I suggest looking at old quizzes in Browns notes
He is a very good prof. He is very cute! he has this sort of "goofy" sense of humor, and a funny but understandable accent. His notes are very good and does tons of examples in class. He is very friendly, and he's casual looking, which only makes him more approachable.
Awesome Prof!!! His quirky accent and random math stories take the stress out of math 141. Really approachable, does tons of examples and Always Ends Class early!!!
He is extremely helpful! He replies to emails super fast, and he is so cute and goofy funny in classes! I also love his green recycle bag he always carries around :D
Had him for MATH 140 and 141. A great prof who does lots of examples. He has a 'goofy' sense of humor and is really approachable. He'll try to explain any questions with clarity. The final exams are incredibly difficult but it's Prof Brown who writes the exams so blame him!
God bless Prof. Hundemer... If it weren't for him, I'd have dropped MATH141... I wish he'd write the exams though.
amazing prof....very detailed and clear in his lectures....i realy enjoyed his classes!!!
Great Professor. Humorous, easy going, but focused and competent. Willing to laugh at himself, meet with students individually, and teaches the relevant material. Everything you learn in class is relevant and worth attending. Makes math even more fun.
Awesome prof! Really clear when explaining and doesn't rush. Knows how to teach. Plus he's super nice and funny :) Wish he recorded for those days that you sleep in.. but he follows the textbook which is helpful. All in all, knows what he's talking about, take his courses! Best math prof there is!
best math teacher ever! so funny and silly! organized and selective when choosing examples for lectures. fair in marking
Axel is the best! He's the funniest professor out there. His lectures are clear, but following the textbook is definitely helpful. Fairly easy final, but multiple choice can be rough. Easy class, and definitely recommended.
He is so great.. the only time I don't attned class is when I really can't make it..otherwise I really look forward for his classes.. He build your skills along the way..
the man
Very clear and very helpful. Easy midterm and reasonable final. Overall, great prof!
Axel is the best! MATH140 isn't the world's easiest course but he makes it as simple as possible. He's adorable and explains super carefully. I had class early in the morning but went unless physically unable too, haha. I hope I have him again!
Honours Linear Algebra - great lecturer. Crystal clear notes. His enthusiasm for the subject is contagious. Assignments are challenging but few. Midterm and final are fair. Marking is a bit tough though.
Axel rhymes with awesome!! Crystal clear lectures, (can't say the same for the hand writing though) great sense of humor, always punctual and to be honest the stuff isn't hard to anyone who studies. Always willing to help, and has a, yes, GERMAN accent, which will contribute generously in keeping you awake during classes. Book is useless.
Always uses great examples in class! Very helpful teacher with an awesome accent!
After having gone through a number of different courses, including calculus 2 and 3, he was definitely the best math teacher, and arguably one of the best profs I've had so far. Very clear, helpful, the notes you take in class are actually helpful. Made what could have been an extremely challenging course into something rather simple.
Very consistent notes. Easy exams considering they are directly taken from assignments. LOTS OF WRITING AND ALWAYS IN CAPS. A good understanding of your lectures note is all you need to succeed. I recommend him if you pay importance to consistency.
needs to stop using blackboard and chalk, but other than that hes a good teacher. I like his german accent
I like this teacher. Go to class, take notes, and study.
I recommend his class to anyone who has never done calc before. Axel is very consistant, clear in his explanations and fair in making the exams and quizzes. If you pay attention in class, understand the notes and practice examples thoroughly, you will get an A guaranteed. Best prof I've had so far.
Amazing professor. Extremely organized, detailed and clear in explanations with good examples. Inspires enthusiasm for math which can be hard to do.You learn tons and gain lots of intuition from attending his lectures. A hilariously subtle sense of humor as well. One of the best at McGill.
I have nothing bad to say about Prof. Hundemer: great notes, very clear, very thorough, amazing pacing, super nice guy, cute butt. Take his classes whenever you can.
I studied my brains off and failed the midterm terribly. thank goodness he has the option of 85% final. I ended up passing. I can only blame myself because I could not put in the time due to full time work. however, all you have to do i understand the assignments and midterm perfectly and it is a gaurantee pass. I highly recommend Prof Axel.
Clear explanations, through examples and very structured way of teaching. Definitely best Math prof I've ever had. Humble and approachable, not patronising. Since the course cover both trig and calc a lot of material is tested and covered but he CLEARLY states what will be on the quizzes and the difficulty is always similar to his examples, problem
Best prof I've had here at McGill so far. He's great. Calculus is not easy, but he's great at explanations. He gives you plenty of time for quizzes/assignments so you have an opportunity to succeed provided you work hard. I nominated him for a teaching award on the student evaluations. I haven't talked to anyone who hasn't liked him as a prof.
Amazing prof. Fair exams, most of the questions are either directly from the assignments or similar. That's not to say it's an easy class, but if you work reasonably hard and attend class you will get the A. Take this over Math 223! You will not regret it.
Axel is the best teacher in the world! He really knows well how to teach, and he is super cute when he is teaching, he is like being embarrassed and steps back and forth in front of the class, any way, really love him for that.
Great teacher! He knows how to teach a large class and reminds me a lot of a high school teacher's way of teaching. He makes things simple and straightforward. He has an awesome accent and is very dynamic when he teaches. Very helpful too! Make sure you get in his section of Math 140!
Amazing prof. Strong german accent, but still easy to understand. Clear on everystep, uses blackboards, EVERYTHING IS IN CAPITALS. Easy final, pretty easy quizzes. Be sure to register in his class.
Super nice guy! Great sense of humour, really loved his class. He makes classes seem so easy and his exams are super fair. Would take any course with this prof. Possibly favourite first year prof.
Axel is adorable when he teaches and clearly cares about his students. He always uses the full lecture time and is confident in what he wants to write to teach. Very clear lectures so you rarely have to open the textbook.
Great prof! Explains concepts well and knows what he's doing.
GREAT PROF
Honestly this course is a breeze and Axel teaches it very well. Just make sure to concentrate in lectures and an A is pretty much guaranteed.
Starts every class with "Okie!"
SWEETEST PROF EVER!!!<3
Took his class last semester - was the best math class ever. Very easy to understand, amazing at explaining and constantly ahead of other sections. No problems with web assignments after his class. So sad I didn't take his section for MATH141. Best prof by far!
BEST MATH PROF EVER. I had a very poor calc background from High school, but not poor enough that I wanted to take 139. Hundemer is adorable and made me love calc! 141 is not east, but he makes it clear and his exams and quizzes are very, very fair.
Great prof! You know he's good when people from other's sections crowd in, to the point where he needs to start checking ID's so that his students can get seats. Very clear, writes everything in capital letters, and does lots of examples. Definitely try to be in his section.
Excellent prof. Cristal clear. Made calc 2 really interested. Be sure to register in his section. The real final was exactly the same as his sample final.
Best Math prof I've had in University, enjoys teaching and is a pleasure to struggle though the brutal content with. not an easy course, but well taught
Excellent lecturer, passionate about mathematics, extremely insightful about math and does not speak mathematical jargon to his classes. Makes sure notes are extremely well written on the board and tests/quizzes are a breeze.
Excellent professor. He teaches very well, marks very easy. The TA's are very helpful also. As long as you're reasonably smart, A in the course is easily accomplished with a bit of studying.
really helpful prof. Quizzes were a piece of cake and the final came almost exactly the same as the revision sheet he posted. Listen well in class and you'll Ace it.
Simply the best math prof you'll ever have.
Best math prof you will ever have. If you don't like math, this adorable man will make you fall in love with integrals. Always ready to help you at his office hours and begins every class with a sleeve pushed up to his shoulder ready to race across the room, tangled in his headset, covered in chalk, and exhausted by the end of the hour.
Best and cutest math teacher!
Really great guy. Very open to comments. Teaches at a good pace.
Great teacher, well prepared lectures. The assignments are a lot of work and the exams were marked pretty severely, but overall a great teacher who is always there to help you out.
Amazing prof, the best I had at McGill! He writes clearly, explains everything, structures the course in a good way. The assignments are really fun and instructive. The exams are fair. His German accent may be a bit hard to understand though for those who are not enough fluent in English (it was my case at the beginning).
He is the best!
Axel is an amazing prof!
Definitely one of the best professors I had my first semester at McGill. He's clear, makes things simple, and sets fair quizzes. The exam was exactly like the questions he covered in class.
Amazing Professor. Very clear expectations. Final was questions straight from the assignmentspractice examples. He does not try to scare you. I'm not sure why he has a chili pepper but other than that, he great. 1010, would recommend .
He is a good prof.
He's adorable and very approachable! Great lecturer that goes at a reasonable pace. His notes are clear and detailed, and he solves a range of examples. Fair exam!
Axel Hundemer's reputation as a brilliant professor holds true in my eyes. Always a joy to listen to, Axel's lectures helped me overcome my severe depression. I have emerged from 141 a new, confident individual thanks to this man.
good guy
He explains well and has a great sense of humor!
This is one elegant professor. His explanations are very clear, and his notes will serve you better than the textbook so don't miss classes. His lectures are usually well structured, but they can feel slow! Nevertheless, his sly humour, neat handwriting and classy German accent are just a few of the things to look forward to!
Definitely register for his section when taking MATH 140 or 141! He's the best of the three profs who teach Calc 1 and 2. He gives very clear examples and explanations and is extremely approachable, as well as entertaining during lectures.
BEST MATH PROFESSOR AT MCGILL EVER
Great professor. Lectures were well prepared and clear. Everything was rigorous. Understanding the course guarantees a good grade.
Axel Hundemer is hands down one of the best math lecturers I have ever had. He tends to teach at a somewhat slow pace, but you will be grateful for this when it comes to more difficult topics. He knows his material like the back of his hand and is very capable of answering any and all questions. Also his accent is the best! :)
Easily my favourite prof of my freshman year at McGill. Axel has a great reputation, people from all three calculus sections would attend his lectures instead. He's clear, organized, helpful and a sweet man. He goes through many problems in class and highlights areas where people tend to go wrong on exams. Make sure you take calculus with him!!!
BEST PROF EVER. Very dedicated, hardworking, and nice professor. His notes are GOLD, attend his lectures and copy down everything he writes. Then study his notes and pay very close attention to his in-class examples s well as Webwork and you will be fine. Exams are fair and with a good amount of work and practice you will get an A.
Hundemer is an excellent prof, clear teaching and extensively goes over examples for every concept covered. Also adorable and entertaining during lectures. Very caring for his students and their success, wish he were my father.
I am not currently taking a class with Axel but I did take 2 in the past. However this semester I have a plethora of bad profs and it made me think of Axel. The only outstanding prof I have had at McGill. McGill became a better place thanks to him. I wish I had taken more advantage of the opportunity I had to have a class with him.
He is a god!!!
Great Prof, one of the best in the math department
This prof will literally deliver a 4.0 to you on a silver platter. Hundemer will make the material so easy to understand that you'll actually be bored with hard concepts. On top of that, he writes the easiest and most straightforward exams. He also an extremely cute guy in an awkward kind of way and has the best German accent.
I came into MATH140 thinking this was going to be absolute death since I struggled with math in high school and in life ... but Hundemer makes this class entertaining and easy to understand. Probably one of my favourite courses this semester. Hundemer is a hero. Not all heroes wear capes.
Probably one of the clearest professors that I've ever had. Other professors should be ashamed of themselves. You can tell that this man was born to be a teacher.
Excellent teacher who clearly knows his material. Makes tests fair that reflect mainly his notes and assignments. Textbook is not really necessary for his course. Study all assignment questions and you will get a good grade.
Gives great historical references, definitely more than qualified to teach the class. Could be a bit more compact with his material, teaches thoroughly which for in my case left me with lots of extra stuff that I was too interested in, but great for anyone wanting learn math properly.
Axel Hundemer was my best prof first year. Everything he taught was so clear and easily understandable even in a decently hard class. He is the course coordinator for this course and has set up so many helpful resources if you are struggling in the class
Many say that he is great, but for me the material that he gave us was like a mass! He is not well organized, and did a lot of work without comments. In the class he always skipped a lot of steps during the work. The final is completely hard.
How he starts every lecture: "Okaaaaay!!!!!"
Could write a whole essay about why he's awesome and the best math teacher you could hope for. Hands down the best math teacher at McGill (and that's coming from a math major).
He is the BEST! NO DOUBT! took him for Math 242 & 243 which are both hard classes, but he made the classes easy to understand. Wish I can take all of my math classes with him. He is extremely clear in his explanations and sooo helpful during office hours; you can drop by his office any time and will most likely help you! He will be truly missed :(
Had Math 140 and 141 with him. Super amazing prof!
The best math instructor at McGill! Makes what should be difficult material almost easy to understand, exams are always fair - do the assignments and learn the reasonably short proofs from class and you'll be fine. Always willing to help after class or during office hours, never rude or condescending. I would gladly take any course with him!
He's absolutely amazing!! He is the clearest math teacher/professor I have ever had! He's funny too and doesn't even mean to be. Go to the tutorials because the tutorial worksheets are quiz material. Would definitely take another class with him!
He is an excellent teacher. He usually writes everything (definitions, cautions, tricks, common mistakes etc.) on board, so you don't miss anything. His office hours are super helpful. He also tells tricks to solve problems. His lectures are very interesting, and he usually creates fun to keep students attentive. Awesome accent as well!
I thought I was one of those people that "hates math" but I was totally inspired by this prof. He explanations of theories and their origins are very interesting. make sure you know how to do the tutorial questions, and review class examples, since he writes the exam they give a clear idea of what will be tested. don't ever skip class
Prof Hundemer is a cool guy. Classes very detailed and pretty clear on examinable material. The examples gone over in class always seemed to be a lot easier than the set questions - a lot of practice is vital. He draws a lot of attention from students from other classes which stops the people in his section getting seats which can be annoying.
Im not usually one to say this, but Hundemeer is waay overrated. I took a class with him after reading reviews here about him and all I did was fight going to sleep for 80mins. I'm sorry but no! 3 stars for him!! only because I'm nice.
BEST PROF EVER. He explains everything slowly but extremely clearly. Finals are extremely straightforward.
Best prof I've had in my first year at University. He makes all the concepts in calculus clear and easy to understand.
Fun to listen to and gives clear explanation. Attend his lectures because he does not post notes online. Average in Fall 2016 was a B.
One of the best professors in McGill. Students would line up 20 minutes in advance to get a seat and some had to sit on the floor. For an easy A, as usual, do the webwork, attend his lectures and the tutorials. Course average: B
HE'S SO ADORABLE!!! I love the way he says "below". Anyway, this guy is really great. Crystal clear, very respectful and kind, available outside of lectures and helpful. Cute German accent. Don't hesitate taking a class if you see his name.
Honestly never meet a math prof at mcgill that cared so much about his students. For a difficult class, he makes lectures somewhat understandable and gives so many resources and opportunities for you to do well.
Axel is a great professor ! He cares a lot about his students, show up to class, learn all the proofs and assignements solutions by heart and you'll get an A. He always gives hints about what will be on exams and all midterms grades will be dropped if you do better on the final.
Axel is an amazing prof!! Really cares about his students and explains concepts in a simple way. If you do the assignments then you will be prepared for the exams. Personally really did not enjoy Analysis, but having Axel made it a whole lot better.
He is absolutely the best professor in the whole math department!! Take his class, pay reasonable effort and you will definitely get a fair grade.
Work for it and you'll get an A. Made me love calculus.
Best Math lecturer at McGill.
Axel Hundemer is the man. There are no words to describe how good his lectures are. Never seen someone so organized and intelligent. Has multiple textbooks in his head. He's the only teacher at McGill that I've had who has clearly prioritized students over their own research, which is refreshing.
He knows everything by heart such that he can fluently teach every single concepts and proofs without a note or reference. His shelf is full of different versions of calculus/algebra books, which shows how much preparation he devotes for teaching. The only complain is he tends to give overly easy exams, even in advanced math courses like 254.
This year's MATH 247 is way different from previous years, he's not testing the same thing from assignments any more. Exams are super long, class notes is a bit disorganized and he is not following any textbook which makes it worse. The assignments are good, but some questions are confusing. Honestly, if you can take 223 instead of this one, do it
His lectures are very disorganized: he will speed through writing notes and then a while later realize he made a mistake in the notes and we have to go back and cram extra stuff in places. He doesn't reference a textbook that has the material to each lecture and doesn't post notes. He throws in jargon without defining and is overall a bad teacher.
I'm not sure why people are complaining about Math 247 (previous ratings). His lectures are extremely clear in my opinion and his homeworks are challenging and help us learn the material. Yes, the midterm was a bit long, but he adjusted for it by curving the midterm marks. He clearly cares about his students - he has office hours nearly every day.
Very nice professor!
The best math prof ever at McGill.
Really nice teacher who is always accessible after class - his office hours are almost everyday! Even though the class is hard, he makes it so much better! Study the notes and the assignment questions and you should be good for the midterm and final!
You may think he is overrated at first, but he cares for the students since he holds frequent office hours and curves the exams if they are too hard. His lectures may be a bit all over places but they are still the best math lectures in McGill. Very nice person and his introverted enthusiasm in math is charming.
Math lecturers like to hide in "McGill"'s brand.
Very good professor.
Lectures are amazing, but assignments are hard and long. Both midterm and final are more difficult than the practice ones, but still fair. Overall he's a good prof.
One of the best profs. If you take MATH 254 and he is your prof, you should feel lucky.
Notes are enough for you to understand the material, textbook is good reference. The homeworks are a must - skip them and you fail. You need to memorize the theorems and proofs given in class and the tricks in homeworks. Do all this and it's an easy pass. Great lecturer too, was never bored.
Literally the best math prof you can have!! His teaching is clear and well organized, conveying his passion about pure math to the audience. Having a lot of office hours, and always willing to discuss any math problem with you :) Just make sure to attend every lecture because lecture notes wouldn't be posted!
The best lecturer and the best advisor.
Prof Hundemer is a good lecturer. He explains the stuff well and most importantly he writes so big that I can easily recognize what's on the board even from the back of the classroom lol. MATH 243 is a hard course and his assignments are difficult, but assignments are all you need to get a good grade on the exam.
Absolute gem of the math department. He gives a lot of assignments, all of which take forever, but he goes out of his way to give feedback/advice, responds to emails in 5 seconds and offers office hours almost every day. Exams are tough but fair and normally curved. Go to lectures, make use of his office hours and you'll do well.
A very knowledgeable, smart, and approachable instructor! He explains proofs, analysis, and basic topology clearly with lots of insights and motivation from the historical background. Assignments and exams are challenging, but they really make you learn! Overall excellent prof and course, preparing you very well for future analysis courses.
He is really good at teaching, and he is caring about students in this challenging time.
By far the best Math teacher i know at McGill, gives comprehensive lectures and a lot of office hours. You still need to put some work to get a good grade but if he is teaching, take his class.
I didn't know it when I took his class at the time, but this professor a Good Human Being who is trying to make the horrible math department better each day, a truly Sisyphean task. He will advocate for students without them even knowing, and shows compassion for students during times when the rest of faculty is dismissing them or harming them.
Very helpful and genuinely committed to students succeeding. Assignments and exams were challenging but fair. V encouraging and supportive in one on one meetings, I recommend going to office hours!
He's just great, the lecture is really organized and understandable, assignment questions are tough but very helpful, midterms and finals are not easy but fair. Great experience!
You will fall in love with analysis!
Dr. Hundemer is one of the best instructors in the math department. He is good at teaching! Furthermore, even though the class was in-person, he took the time out of his busy schedule to record all of his lectures a second time to accomodate those who preferred to watch lectures online, which is just amazing.
the best prof in McGill I have met!
Easily the best math teacher I had so far. He explains concepts very clearly, his lectures are amazing and the course is well structured.
My first proof-based math class, 242 was a steep uphill battle for most of the semester. That said, Hundemer was as good a professor as I could have asked to guide my learning. Though sometimes dense, his notes are clear and very informative. He is a great lecturer with an evident passion for the history and theory of math. Flexible grading helped.
Axel is a lovely man. HOWEVER. Math 242 was perhaps the most difficult class I have taken for my major yet, and without copious amounts of studying, good notes, and some luck you will not get an A. I have incredible respect for Axel and aspire to be every bit like him... but phew was it intense.
Passionate, helpful and insightful. Thank you!
Axel is such a great prof. Analysis is a tough subject so the class is hard, but Axel gives you all of the tools you need. He curates the class in a specific way to make sure you can get the most out of it. He is EXTREMELY passionate about math and is a great prof to talk to during OH about anything math related
Axel is just genious.. Amazing lectures, he goes through everything slowly and clearly. Also posts full notes as well as recordings so you can self-teach when you can't attend the lecture and many office hours... He uses blackbord to teach, and HE WRITES EVERYTHING IN CAPITAL. Sometimes fails to answer questions in time because he's always writing.
one of the greatest math lecturers in McGill
The analysis GOAT
Always an excellent lecturer; takes lots of time to respond to students' questions in office hours and makes himself super accessible. Exams and assignments are fun and reasonable, especially if you keep up with the material. I preferred 242 for the content, but a lot of the concepts in 243 are super interesting and cool to work with.
Super nice, serious but very intelligent guy, lectures can be dull but do the homeworks and you'll be fine for the exams, he makes them very fair.
Axel is a brilliant lecturer, breaking down complex concepts clearly. The course is challenging but rewarding - study hard, use resources like unstuck ai, and you'll excel.
242/243 are extremely hard but Axel is an angel. Clear, helpful, serious but not unfriendly. Content is dense but he is the best prof I've ever had.
Very clear lecturer, exams are fair and test basic concepts.
You MUST attend lectures. Notes are not posted so make sure to write your own. Constantly review material and practice proofs every now and then so you are not cramming for the exams. Put effort into the assignments and finish all of the questions. Exams are not all that hard and every question is similar to an assignment question.
Great lecturer and very fair exams. As long as you do the work throughout the semester its very easily doable to get an A. He posts previous notes/lecture recordings right at the start of the semester so you can even go ahead or make up for a sick day but would recommend going to class.
Axel is a gem of a professor, this is a man that truly loves Math and will explain concepts in such a way that you will actually want to come to lectures and understand more about the math
Overall a nice prof, fair grading, would take again.

My first semester here. I think Axel is the GOAT. He explains my questions really well during office hours and is very nice to us. Would like to take his class again
