Excellent Professor with a lot of knowledge. Always caring about his students
Good guy, good teacher. Just pay attention in his lectures and do your homework (there isnt much) and youll be golden.
Awesome professor. Very helpful. Definitely the best in all of engineering.
Prof. El Ansary cares so much for his students. Go to class, pay attention for 50 mins, ask questions, and you cannot do poorly.
He is a great professor ,has the ability to make tough materials easy , I believe he enjoys what he is doing and loves his job . His expectation is high ( specially from graduate students) and pushes you to do your best , but and he is always there for you , he is a good supporter at the end :)
Amazing professor He knows his stuff, and is very passionate about what he does. He cares a lot about his students, is supportive, and is willing to go over concepts several times to ensure you understand them. He encourages participation. Definitely my favorite prof. Just make sure you do practice problems and ask questions if you don't understand
Dr. El Ansary is a great professor who deeply cares about his students and their wellbeing. He explains the structural analysis of this course very clearly and makes sure everyone is on the same page. I highly recommend Dr. El Ansary for this class and any other class he is offering. He has great experience and knowledge to offer.
Dr. El Ansary simplifies what would be a very complex subject to his students when he teaches the dynamics of structures. He makes sure everyone understands the ideas and offers assignments and tests based on what he teaches.
Dr. El Ansary is a great professor all in all and takes as much time as the students in explaining the tough concepts of finite element analysis. His lectures are very informative and he is a pleasant professor to have.
Dr. El Ansary introduces the topic of seismic analysis that not many students are familiar with in a simplified manner that makes learning with him worth your time. He takes care of his students and is available for office hours very often.
Incredible prof take his classes
Very passionate about Statics which means he takes the content very seriously. Explains concepts well if you try and pay attention. Sometimes responds to questions in an aggressive manner but still a nice guy. Quizzes and Exams are not easy, lots of practice is needed to do decent.
Dr. El Ansary is one of the best Professors in first year Engineering. Always caring about his students and is always available to answer questions. His lectures are well organized and informative. You have to pay attention in class to excel in this course.
Dr. El Ansary is one of the best Professors in first year Engineering. Always caring about his students and is always available to answer questions. His lectures are well organized and informative.
I learned a lot in this course. Had never taken a finite element course before and now feel like I have a solid understanding of the basics and how they apply to real life problems. I liked your teaching style.
Very difficult. He covered everything and makes sure you're prepared but doesn't really break the content down to make it more understandable.
Thank you for making a difficult course easy to understand. This class could be pretty challenging without your amazing teaching style and examples solved in lectures.
I learned a lot in this course. Had never taken a finite element course before and now feel like I have a solid understanding of the basics and how they apply to real life problems. I liked your teaching style. Focused but not too intimidating. Good mix of application/interesting facts and background/theory.
Cares about students. Willing to talk or discuss with students. Open to any question. Not too hard to pass if do not understand, but never get a great grade. Open book exam. Hard to fully understand if do not go to class. Does set a great foundation for me (both research or design). Having assignment every week, helps me to understand better.
He is a great prof. both in the lecture and after class. His teaching methodology is inspiring which makes students to think more before knowing the exact answers from him. He shows great attention to any question asked by the students. He even carefully thought about my question and discussed with me the day after. He is definitely awesome.
Dr. Ayman El-Ansary has taught me 3 courses in undergrad, and 1 course in grad and had been the BEST professor in the Civil Department. I highly respect and admire his work and knowledge he puts in as a professor at Western Uni. I have yet to meet a professor that is as amazing as Dr. Ayman El-Ansary. Finally, people fight to take his classes.
Prof. Ansary is a very good professor. He goes through lots of examples step by step and highlights important topics. All quizzes and exams are based on the homework questions.
Best instructor I have had during my first year at engineering. Highly passionate about the courses he teaches, and actually cares about his students. His method of teaching is remarkable and he's able to make complex concepts simple enough so everybody gains a grasp of them.
Best first year eng prof hands down
Great Instructor. Takes the time to ensure the class understands concepts.
Great professor. Always there for you and will do everything to make you understand the subject. Really enjoyed his class.
Absolutely amazing professor. Very organized and great course notes. Definitely wants his students to learn the material, and cares about their success. Best course I have taken, and a great learning experience!
One of the best professors I have met in my life. Not only did he provide technical support for any problem we face but he also guided us how to learn more about the finite element method. He helped me whenever I needed his help whether it is related to the course or not. Thank you very much for being such a great professor.
Very good professor; he explains concepts very well and shows that he cares about his students. Just make sure you attend all the lectures; first year statics can be a difficult transition from HS but if you attend and pay attention you will do very well
Dr. El Ansary has made learning statics very enjoyable and has provided us with multiple facets to help our learning. His course is one of the more organized and better planned courses required to be taken by first year engineering students, and throughout the year it has always been my pleasure to attend his lectures.
There is a general consensus in my year that Dr Ansary is the best professor in first year. Helpful, passionate, prepared, caring, and meticulate are just some of the adjectives I would use to describe him. Very proud that I once sat in this man's class.
Dr. Ansary is one of the best profs in first year! He knows exactly how to make some of the complex ideas of statics easily understandable, and is fantastic at answering questions.
Top-notch professor
One of the best professors I have met in my life. Not only did he provides technical support for any problem we face but he also guided us how to learn more about the finite element method. He helped me whenever I needed his help whether it is related to the course or not. Thank you very much for being such a great professor.
I have Ansary for statics, you can tell he really cares about the students, gives good lectures worth going to, grades very fairly.
Best prof Ive ever had. Love the guy
I enjoyed the course with Dr. El Ansary. He aims to motivate the class. The course workload was fair. For one of the most difficult topics in engineering, he explained the material well.
Great learning experience, Dr. El Ansary is one of the best professors I have had in my educational career.
Best prof I have had so far at western and is very nice to chat with even after class
Professor Ansary explained concepts very well and broke down many examples. I had him up to the midterm, and was able to get all the concepts from going through his class examples.
Professor Ansary is one of the best professors of first year engineering. He explains tricky concepts well and truly cares about the well-being of his students. He makes 1022Y an enjoyable course and you're very lucky to have him as a prof.
Professor El Ansary is the best prof I've had so far at Western (and he has a few awards to show it too). His classes are extremely hands on where he walks you through both easy and challenging/exam type problems. He also answers everyone's questions in class, and will stay after class to answer anyone who remains confused. Hands down best prof!
Great prof! Really knows his material and is super organized. Always goes over multiple examples in class and walks through step by step how to solve questions that are similar to assignments/quizzes/exams. Very patient and answers student questions thoroughly.
Professor El Ansary is one of the best professors I have had so far in my undergrad. He is a very talented professor who never fails to break down complicated concepts in a way that makes them much simpler to understand. I always leave his class feeling inspired and motivated. His genuine care for his students is evident through his lectures.
Dr. Ansary focuses his efforts on a creating challenging courses with effective delivery, he presents his lectures and course notes in a very clear and concise format that is very easy to understand and follow. In addition, when questions are asked in lectures and tutorials, he takes the time to explain the material in an auspicious manner.
One of the best professors I have ever had. He took his time to explain the complex topics taught in this course. It was very well-formatted and interesting. He cares a lot about his students and goes over topics many times to make sure the concept is clear.
I have had the pleasure to have Dr. El Ansary for two courses now, and my admiration, respect, and appreciation of his teaching style has only increased. His courses are difficult concepts and you'll want to attend lectures because he breaks it down in a simple to understand way without losing the core of the concept. He is one of the best profs.
Dr. El Ansary is one of the best teachers in the civil engineering department. He genuinely wants students to succeed in the course and understand the core concepts. His lectures are engaging and he is very approachable when it comes to asking questions. His courses are not easy but if you reach out to him, he will guide you through the material.
Professor El Ansary is an amazing professor. He really cares about his students and puts in the work to ensure hes a good professor (and it shows). You can always count on him for help. The course was organized nicely to maximize students understanding and the content was interesting. Overall a 10/10 course with a 10/10 professor!
Not too shabby
Really good prof, actually cares about his students and it shows. He is very well liked. Made a course that has potential to be difficult very intuitive. Good test/grading system.
Professor Ansary is just amazing. He truly cares about his students and tries his best to allow everyone to enjoy statics. All quizzes and exams are fair (if you do the homework) and he is always willing to help explain the material . At the end, he truly is a great respected professor and insures that everyone feels good about statics.
Gives messed up exams and quizzes on mastering than blames us for dropping like a 30 avg because the program marked correct answers as wrong
he is best professor :)
Really cares about his students, tries his best to get them ready for their future as engineers. His lectures are explained very well in class, and is always willing to answer any questions his students have. If you doubt his reply time, try emailing him and then count how many seconds it takes for him to get back to you. He's earned my respect.
Very humble man, claims to not be a singer but I dont buy it. His voice is angelic
Most caring prof I have. Teaches material clearly and always willing to clarify things.
Cares about students. Very helpful during office hours and will get to know you by name. Great prof!
He's really good but im still gonna fail
Professor has nothing to do with how the course is currently being run but "mastering engineering" is terrible and the quizzes are worth 20% with only 3 of them counting for your grade so they are 6.6% each. prof is good, course is ran very poorly where grades dont represent your ability to complete the work
Ansary will provide unfair and unreasonable quizzes provided on mastering engineering. Expect to have unreasonable quizzes on mastering engineering that wont allow you to change or alter your answers. Frequently, Ansary will spend the majory of lectures following quizzes complaining about the poor average.
Professor Ansary genuinely cares about his students so much.He takes the time to ALWAYS be available for emailing, with the fastest response you could ever expect (often within 5 minutes!). There's a lot of complaint about the use of the mastering engineering platform. It can be scary during exams, but if you solved the question you'll get the mark
El Ansary is a very caring professor, he is always looking out for his students and gives many opportunities to boost your grade. This man is my personal hero
very difficult
very difficult prof
Hard to deal with
Terrific professor whose first priority is ensuring the students have a real understanding of the content. Thanks to professor El Ansary's collaborative teaching style, you come out of this course with a better engineer 'sense', and ability to solve tricky conceptual questions. I'm super glad I had him as a professor!
He is unwilling to accept the fact that mastering engineering doesn't work and is inconsistent when talking about grading
He was a very caring prof, one of few who seem to truly care about his students. It was clear he wanted to see his students succeed. He would respond to emails unbelievably quickly and was pretty generous with extra marks if you could show you deserved it. Overall, the course isn't easy but he did a very good job at explaining concepts very well.
I had El Ansary for ES1022 and he is one of the most engaging profs I've had this year. He encourages in-class participation which makes every lecture super engaging. This course can be challenging so make sure you do your best to attend every lecture to see how each example problem is solved as these are the basis to the quiz/exam problems.
Dr. El Ansary is a phenomenal CEE prof and dedicated to student success. His teaching style equips you to have a good conceptual understanding of the content to be able to apply to practical problems and SAP 2000. His tests require this type of problem solving to be successful. Lectures encourage students to be capable, ethical future engineers.
Dr. El Ansary is a great prof who makes learning the difficult concepts easier and enjoyable. He really emphasizes understanding the content and being able to apply it to any problem, not just knowing how to do the practice problems. He provides lots of examples and assignment questions that help prepare for the tests.
Dr. Ansary is one of the best professors I have had the pleasure of learning from. The course was adequately structured; achieving high scores is attainable with preparation and instructor guidance. Dr. Ansary shares valuable insights and shows genuine concern for the success of his students, providing constructive feedback and practical advice.
Professor Ansary does a tremendous job organizing and teaching courses. The pace is very reasonable and easy to keep up with if you put in the effort. Additionally, he shows genuine care for his students well-being and inspires success in their endeavors.
Finite Element Analysis is one of the must take subjects for aspiring Structural Engineers, it is one of the most difficult subjects but Dr El Ansary makes it well worth it. Prepare to work long nights on assignments that you need to spend hours just trying to figure out what to do. There was a lot of modeling and we used a lot of ETABS & SAP2000.
This is an exceptional educator! Their engaging teaching style makes complex subjects understandable and interesting. Approachable and supportive, they create a dynamic classroom, fostering a genuine connection with students. Feedback is welcomed, showcasing a commitment to continuous improvement. A truly enriching experience
Had no intentions of doing Civil Engineering, but this man has made it what I want to do now. The only prof that ever actually motivated me to succeed. The class is super clear and well-organized. Don't diss mastering engineering.
One of the few profs who genuinely cares about his students. Had zero interest in civil engineering going in, ended up considering it as one of my top choices for second year. Knows how to teach and engage with students with the only downside being mastering engineering. The program isn't great but mostly just has a very steep learning curve.
Dr. El Ansary is an amazing Prof who enjoys ensuring his classes succeed. He breaks all concepts down into simple steps that are easy to understand and utilize in all situations. Practice problems in class go over all question styles used on quizzes and are thoroughly explained to set students up for success. Highly recommend his class.
Dr. Ansary was an incredible professor for ES1022. Lectures were highly engaging and clear, and he truly seemed to care about the success of all his students, encouraging students to strive for excellence. The material in the course is quite unique to other engineering courses but Ansary made it feel very straightforward. Would highly recommend!
I'm sure he's a great guy if his mood didn't depend on the success (or lack thereof) of the poor tutorial section that had to do a quiz that morning. In the beginning of the year, every few Thursday lectures, we had to brace ourselves for the berating of the century telling us how we were disappointments and failed him miserably.
Hands down, the best first-year engineering professor is Dr. Ansary. He is an incredibly helpful professor who exhibits a clear passion for the subject matter he teaches. It's essential to attend every single one of his lectures, as they are all highly valuable learning experiences.
A decent professor when it comes to teaching a class, and gives some hints during his lectures. However, this is all superseded by his absolute stubbornness for his holy grail of MasteringEngineering. El-Ansary's handling of the program makes it a nightmare, and he will shove stats in your face to make you think he is right. He could do better.
Hands down my favourite prof from first year. One of the few profs that truly cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. Pay close attention to class examples as he likes to use them in the exams, and he gives lots of hints in class to exam questions.
My goat ❤️
gives the best motivational speeches and makes me feel comfortable about upcoming exams.
Very good at teaching, uses a lot of examples and is very clear on his expectations for tests. He's really funny to boot, and makes lectures fun. Only complaint is that he really likes using mastering engineering (Pearson), but honestly it's not as bad as people make it sound.
Very well-run course. Mastering is great too.
Statics is a good first-year course that builds on high school concepts like dot/cross products and equilibrium. Mastering can be a bit confusing at first but you get the hang of it. Ansary is a great prof and his lectures are amazing. He knows how to teach as long as you are willing to learn. Stay on top of your homework and you should be good.
Originally thought he was a tough prof teaching a hard class but as I went to more of his lectures I started to see how fair & understanding he & statics is. Gives tips on his exams & how to approach eng. Go to his office he will not let you leave until you understand the topic. Great guy overall. GO TO LECTURES & DO YOUR HOMEWORK & YOU'LL BE FINE
