Okay, so we've barely begun class, and we have yet to take an exam, but I couldn't go a day longer without commenting that this class is my favorite because Dr. Walker, basically, is a serious cutie. You should take her just because she's very easy on the eyes.
Great teacher. That person with the other comment was probably one of the lazy ones who did no work. Like all science classes we have to work and work hard. Dr. Walker does this while making an extremely interesting class. I would definitely recommend.
Dr. Walker is adorable! I'm not very good at science and only got a C in her class, but I'd go through it all over again just to have her as my teacher. She is wonderful and really knows her stuff! You'll love her!
please don't take Dr. Walker. She's nice but not helpful. She's doesn't help with the homework and never wants to explain anything. No review for an comprehensive final either.
WORST teacher ive ever had. impossible class. Do not recommend
I am writing this because I knew Dr. Walker would be given a hard time. I am no rocket scientist, but we are talking about a physics class. This class is meant to be hard, but if you come to class and approach her respectfully she is more than willing to help. I had a hard time in this class and I still ended up with a B after making F's on 2 exams
She was nice, but more than half the time she would have to re-write answers because she would not even know what the correct answer was. Not a good teacher at all! Acted like we were dumb if we had a question. I did have a 4.0 before I came to this class. Had a 91 going into the final, but ended up with a B. Very hard!!
um, RUN. she is not a teacher. so rude. impossible to talk to/get ahold of. not helpful. doesn't make sense. soo. i wouldn't recommend her at all. too bad she is the only uca teacher that offered this course this semester. SUCKED.
Dr. Walker did give a comprehensive final without a review, but it was over the chapters already covered and we had access to all homework assignments and test with answers. She took the top 3 grades. I made an A,B,and a C on my 3 test, and Failed the final(which I am not proud of) and still made a B in the class. She is not that bad.
If you can help it do not take her. Her tests are ridiculously hard, even if you study for hours and hours. I ended up failing her final because it was so difficult. She knows her stuff but cannot teach it well so that her students will understand it. She makes you feel completely dumb. Unless you want to be completely stressed do not take her.
Great
I cannot believe all the negative comments here about Professor Walker. Yes this course is extremely difficult if you have not really done much science. Professor Walker offers many opportunities to pass this class. IF you want a class that is not challenging that you can pass with little effort this is not the class for you. You MUST work!
She's a very nice lady, but she is very difficult to understand. Her English makes understanding her lecture very difficult. Lab quizzes and tests seem almost unrelated to what you've been studying. She's cute and funny just not the best teacher.
Mrs. Walker is a fun, attractive, and challenging teacher. There are many in the college world today who want easy classes so they can graduate just as dumb as you were after high school. If you are one of these people then I advise you stay away from her. I had not studied science very much before this class but now I enjoy it.
This woman cannot teach students at all!!! She knows her stuff but does not make it interesting or clear to students. The labs are useless and she claims that we use the book. Her quizzes and homework are difficult She always has a snobby attitude when you ask a question... which I don't understand why. Please don't sign up for her class
Dr. Walker is a great teacher if you want to learn. She isn't hard to understand whatsoever if you pay attention. Likewise, the homework and tests are super easy if you just pay the slightest bit of attention.
I enjoyed Dr. Walkers class. I think most College students these days want something for nothing. If you are in college you are required to work. I am not a science major but this class was needed and I enjoyed each and every class.
Makes sarcastic comments about legit questions asked in class and makes you feel stupid when you go to talk to her during office hours. Tests are extremely difficult and nothing like the homework or examples she gives in class.
Dr. Walker is a very great but the trurh is that her class is very difficult. She did not make class to interesting or fun nor was she too helpful whenever you needed help. the last person that commetted did not lie when they stated that the homework is nothing like the test and it is totally different in all aspects. I don't recommend her but for
nice person, doesn't make the material very easy to learn. took her during the summer which made it harder to learn the material quickly. likes to give quizzes at very beginning of class about what you learned the previous class so be on time. also doesnt care if u text in class :) id recommend making a separate list of formulas
wahoooooo!
Tests had nothing to do with labs or homework. She didn't make the material even remotely interesting, and I love science. Test questions were often worded awkwardly, making it easy to miss the question.
This class is pretty difficult. The tests are hard, but she does have a curve which will help you a little bit. The homework is very difficult, and you can ask her for help and you will leave even more confused possibly even slightly insulted. Though, if you have to take physics; she's probably your best option. Be prepared to study hard.
AWFUL CLASS. She is very hard to understand as she is not from America and has a strong accent. She speaks very quickly and doesn't always tell you when there is a homework waiting to be done online. Her tests have hardly anything to do with what she teaches and if you ask for help you'll probably just end up more confused than before. :(
This class was a nightmare. Her tests are very difficult and often have nothing to do with her classes or are obscure references in the book. Her homework assignments frequently have incorrect answers. She's not very helpful during lab or outside of class. She tries to be nice and funny during class. Previous knowledge is how I got through it.
Great semester. Tough at time but I really appreciated understanding the concepts
Won't help during lab if you don't have an actual question even if you're so confused that you don't even know what to ask. Just don't expect any help at all. She never replied to any of my e- mails or fixed grades she made mistakes on.
I personally already have a love /hate relationship with Science. But when I took this class with Professor Walker my hate for it went to a higher level. She's very sweet, but isn't a goo teacher. When you are doing your labs she will leave for 5-20mins so if you have a question you can't ask. Her test are hard, overall I don't recommend her.
I definitely recommend taking Dr. Walker's Physical Science class! Attendance isn't mandatory but labs are. I missed about 10 classes and passed with a B. Tests are kinda difficult but she offers plenty of bonus and the final is exactly like the old tests!
Class is difficult but an A is possible if you put in the time. She is fair by dropping your lowest homework and test grade. Homework and test are online and are difficult. She takes random attendance by giving bonus pop quizzes so GO TO CLASS! She can confuse you when you ask questions so don't leave until you have an answer.
The quizzes and tests are online. I personally had a hard time adjusting to it. BUT she is more than willing to talk to you to help you out. She gives out bonus points in class as well as nerd points. She'll drop the lowest test score too. Overall, she's a good teacher but I've never been interested in science and never will be.
I hated this class. She's kind of hard to understand and is not very approachable. I witnessed her mock multiple people when they did not understand how to do a lab. I would not recommend.
The lectures aren't mandatory but she's so boring. I don't learn anything from her lectures and the only reason I got a B is from prior high school physics knowledge. The labs are easy for the most part and all the homework is online (takes forever to complete though). Would only recommend if you have prior knowledge of physics. NOT an easy A!!!
Not helpful, not clear, doesn't really care about the students, mocks students who asks questions, everything is online and not always clear when it is due, class is not interesting and tests don't usually have anything to do with what is being covered in class. Do not recommend her.
The tests are super hard. You spend tons of time taking notes and then the tests are completely different. She drops your lowest test grade, but it honestly doesn't help because they are all hard! She also loves homework and is very strict about due dates. She isn't big on answering emails either or extra credit.
She will make sure you pass by giving out TONS of extra credit for attendance, but her tests are nearly impossible and she gives out a lot of homework. Her teaching style is very boring and she almost expects you to know everything already from your high school Physics class. It is a relaxed class though if you want to just get by and pass it.
Dr. Walker is the sweetest woman ever. She's very smart and nice. I just didn't like her teaching style. She's also hot so that doesn't hurt either.
Dr. Walker isn't the easiest of teachers, but she gives SO MANY BONUS POINTS. I had a D in her class because I didn't even go half the time, and she gave me a C. She is so easy to work with, and does really care. If you go to class, take the notes, and do all the online homework (60% of the grade) you can very easily get an A or B.
Not an easy A. You actually have to work for it. IMPOSSIBLE tests but lots of homework and bonus points to make up for it. She's very confusing because she mixes up what she's saying during lecture. She puts things on the test that you haven't went over in class. I made a C average on tests but bonus brought them all up to A's.
Teacher didn't really give any help at all. Her lectures had nothing to do with the exams, they come off of practicing from the homework website. Lectures were long and she was very annoying. Her lectures were boring and she seemed like she didn't know what she was teaching.
Lectures are confusing, nothing to do with homework. Test are supposed to be taken from the homework but they are not. I have witnessed her mock students who ask questions for help. Gives extra credit but if you don't understand it wont help. Gives attendance points. Would not recommend taking her unless you already have knowledge in Physics
I was so nervous after reading her previous reviews on here. She's HILARIOUS. I didn't go a day in class without laughing at something she did. Her lectures were purely notes and boring, but she makes it interesting. She does give pop quizzes occasionally and the labs are torturous but overall, I would take her again. She's great.
I have no idea why Professor Walker has such bad ratings on here. I thought she was really funny and always helpful. She understands that not everyone is a science major and makes things understandable and interesting. The tests are all based off the online homework. There are pop quizzes on Fridays but you can use your notes.
So happy to be done. Great class.
-She wants you to understand the material and will try to help if you ask for it. -The homework is online and due at the end of the semester. -DO PROBLEMS FROM THE BOOK.
Dr Walker has been one of the best professors I ever had at UCA. She cares about students and tries to make class enjoyable. She's always making silly jokes and brings objects for students to understand science even better. I would highly recommend her, even if you don't know anything about science.
She is HORRIBLE. Lectures have nothing to do with tests, tons of online homework due at the end of the semester (takes forever to do), can hardly understand anything she says, VERY disorganized. Do NOT take her. One of the worst classes of my college experience
I love Dr. Walker. There was a lot of homework but the exact questions from the homework are on her tests. She makes corny jokes and makes learning Physical Science fun. If you keep up with the homework and attend lab, you will absolutely pass her class. One of the best teachers I've had.
I took her online class and completely regret it. She never kept up to date with blackboard and when emailing her for grade info, work problem into, or to make something more clear (her instructions usually didn't make a lot of sense) she wouldn't answer. I've had to email her multiple times over the same issue and she never replied once.
Walker does not really teach the class since the textbook makes the work you will complete. She tries to teach with videos she makes that you are suppose to watch but they are more annoying than helpful. She tries to be funny but it is just her trying too hard. Also, her english can be hard to understand at times because of her accent.
i took her for applied physics and felt as if she didnt know what she was doing. tests are so hard, and the final was awful. you can miss 6 classes before you get dropped and she takes attendance every class. doesnt email back either.
She isn't very good at explaining things, and doesn't like to answer questions. You have to read the textbook to actually understand the material. The tests are super hard, but the labs and homework are easy. She gives pop quizzes but they are for bonus on your next test.
she assigns a TON of homework (more than 3 assignments per week) and does not explain anything thoroughly. she never answers emails and if you have a problem, she completely ignores it. you can sit through lecture but not learn a single thing, even if you try. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS. she does not have empathy or care for her students.
one of the worse teachers I have ever experienced. She does not teach on a GEN ED level and expects students to already understand physical science. Her lectures are nothing like the test and she never fully explains anything, so by paying attention you are more confused. Her labs are also incomplete and lack information and needed materials
I would study for several hours (up to 7) for her test and would still make in the 60s- which is the lowest I have ever scored on a test. She lectures like you already know the material, not like it is a gen ed. The homework assignments take about 3 hours each. Dr. Walker is nice and she tells a lot of jokes, I just really did not enjoy the class.
The class itself wasn't very hard but Dr. Walker did not make it easy. The labs were poorly designed and explained even worse. If you have questions, Dr. Walker makes it even more confusing and doesn't respond to emails. There is a lot of online homework. Use that to study for tests (though the tests aren't based just on homework or lectures).
worse class ever
She is very lecture heavy and you have weekly homeworks. The homeworks take at least an hour to do so go to the physics tutoring for help. Her test are extremely hard, best to work the problems in the back of the book. She does not reply to emails and does not give clear feedback to questions. Watch out for the Final! And keep an eye on you grade
10/10 I would not take this lady. She rarely teaches and is rude. She does not work with students in any way possible. I do not think she even knows how to use a computer.
This professor might be the worst professor I've had during my time at UCA. She never returns Emails or gives feedback to any degree. Her course was scrambled and was simply not pleasant to take. UCA has some of the best professors in Arkansas but she gives them a bad name.
Dr. Walker is not very clear with any of her assignments. Her lectures are completely pointless, as they do not match up with what you are learning in the textbook. She often rambles and gives awkward jokes that add nothing. She seems to go in circles instead of giving clear information. Easy assignments, but be prepared to learn nothing.
Her tests are easy to look up answers for, but the final does not match this formula. All of the labs are made for children, and the homework questions are extremely easy. But beware, the final is nothing youve learned during the whole semester. It is mostly equations that you didnt learn and barely any definitions or material.
There is no chance for makeup work, do not miss a homework, lab, or test deadline unless youre ready for a zero. Everything is easy until it comes to the final. The final is 90% equation questions that you probably wont remember how to do, probably didnt learn, and you will not have enough time to complete.
She is awful. No communication. No teaching at all. She was hands off the entire semester and the other students in my class were the ones who taught me things. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Do not take her. She doesnt teach and then gives you exams. She doesnt respond to emails and when she does, she does not give any help as to what you were asking. Exams are over material she never taught.
do NOT take this professor. she is very unclear in her lectures and hardly answers her emails. the times when she does, she doesnt help at all. she does not care about her students and will randomly change the weight of grades. the final exam format is completely different from all of the unit exams. definitely the worst professor Ive had
Dr. Walker is the WORST prof I have ever had. If you have an option to take literally anyone else, do it. She cannot explain the content, grades her tests weird, and her final is nothing like the tests taken throughout the year. Do yourself a favor and use a different prof.
This is absolutely the worst experience I have had with a professor at UCA. Dr. Walker makes no effort to help. She ignores emails until after due dates, puts wrong answers on tests and homework, and does not go over material needed. If she does reply to an email, it will be with a blunt or sassy remark. If GPA is important to you, do NOT take.
This professor was easily one of the worst professors Ive had at UCA. If you care about your GPA, do not take her. She changed the weight of our grades a week before finals, added in a project that was due a day before finals, and changes due dates all the time. I was extremely disappointed in this class.
Dr. Walker seems to really understand what she is teaching but she attempts to teach us as if you already know everything, she is the worst about changing due dates along with not answering emails. Im sure she means well but I definitely wouldnt recommend this class to anyone
Dr. Walker is an awful professor. She never answers emails and if she does it is vague and doesn't answer your question. She changes due dates constantly, so your planner will be useless for this class. She decided to change the weighting of grades a week before finals (which lowered everyone's grade). If you are forced to take her, I am so sorry.
If you take this class I'm so sorry. She doesn't teach you anything about physics. Your classmates are the best resource. If you don't understand physics now you especially won't after this class. She is a very vague person and can't answer an email to save her life. She puts the wrong answers on homework and exams. Overall, don't take this class.
The instructor seemed to be very knowledgeable in their course and department but unfortunately, she has struggled with keeping her course structure organized. As a student, I witnessed multiple changes in due dates, disregard to the syllabus regarding grading criteria, and non-response to emails which hindered myself and my peers from succeeding.
Read the reviews. don't make the mistake I did.
Is very passive-aggressive when asked questions. Does not explain concepts well and assumes you should just know how to do it. Your peers are your biggest helpers. Doesn't explains the labs well. You will regret taking a class with her. I read her reviews and thought it would be fine and it has been terrible. Would not recommend her as a professor.
this professor does not read her emails or responds in a professional timeframe. She's a terrible professor that belittles a student if they do not know the material she is teaching and tries to asks a question in class. All of her exams for my semester were pass or fail only 3 questions. the final was 6 and exams are 50% of your grade.
This class was truly the worst class I have ever taken at uca. I am a straight A student and I barley got a B in this class. It is easy to pass if you make sure you show up and do every single lab to your best ability and study. Her exams are 3 questions long so if you miss 1 your grade plummets. She is extremely smart but will belittle you.
Rarely answers emails. There was always a mistake/error on her side when taking exams. Questions were misspelled and if an answer was right it would be wrong and I had to continuously email her about the mistakes that took days to fix. You basically have to teach yourself.
This was my second time taking her, she changed her class setup for the benefit of students but not by much. This class is definitely one to teach yourself. The only reason I did well in this class was that someone had made study guides for exams and helped explain homework step by step. I wish you luck, and ask for the study guides from others!
All homework is online and BB is extremely specific with how it takes answers. Not clear with course expectations and is a subjective grader on tests. Hard to reach by email and ghosted me for an office hours appointment once. My best advice is to get into a group of people who know what they are doing and make sure that Dr Walker likes you
DO NOT TAKE THIS WOMAN. do not do it to yourself. This is the worst professor I have ever had and the semester isn't even halfway over. The due dates are constantly changing and say a different date depending on where you look. The quizzes have nothing to do with the homework (which takes 2 hrs to complete each assignment). trust me, don't take her
Do not take her online course. I am an A student and have missed her peer review assignments because it will simply not let me do them and I email her and try to explain this. But, she takes forever to respond and never tries to help resolve the issue.
Do not take her if you do not have to. She doesn't answer emails and makes students feel stupid for not knowing concepts quickly. Passive-aggressive. Tests are hard and are not structured well. Lectures are confusing. Homework is hard and confusing. Take detailed notes and there aren't any tutors. ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY, even if she says it isn't.
She wants your responses to be scientific or else you'll get a zero so make sure you do.
