Not very clear, having to teach myself. She puts things on the test never mentioned in class. No study guides.
She gives PPTs for definitions and business relationships and provides working examples in class that you have to work on. She's very nice and will work with you. She should definitely get more students involved in working out problems on the board. It's quite an experience. Tests are challenging, but STUDY and do your homework to get the grade.
Very easy class!! Get the book asap, go to class, do the homework & quizzes, ask questions, & STUDY!! You also can have a cheat sheet for each test.
Very easy class. She is very helpful if you come to class and ask for it. If you can't get at least a B, it's time to consider trade school.
Good teacher, hard to follow. Goes through powerpoints quick. Puts notes online, but are not the same as ones in class. Tests are TOUGH. Study guide and cheat sheet provided. Very helpful, ask questions. Uses textbook A LOT.Takes attendance.
Very helpful, but the coursework is tougher! Read the text & do plenty of examples. Create a cheat sheet...this will help you all semester.
Mrs. Movahed was an awesome teacher! She was very helpful in explaining all coursework!
Great teacher! Use the textbook, it helps!
Class is easy for the most part, and the teacher is very helpful. The only problem is that you can barely understand her. She has a strong accent and half of the time I do not know what she is trying to say.
1. Go to class 2. ask questions even if you piss off the class 3. Go to her office hours 4. ASK QUESTIONS!
Probably one of the best professors I have had so far. She seems like such a hard-ass at first but she's actually really nice and helpful. Her exams are very easy if you do all your homework and quizzes, they are not designed to trick you. Should be an easy B but you will have to put in work for an A.
She is Great. Accounting is a boring class but she makes it alright. Had her for an 8am and was worth getting out of bed to attend lecture. Makes accounting as easy as it can get.
If you do not understand accounting do not take her. She does not try to help you understand the class, and teaches it in such a confusing way. I had no idea what was going on and i actually went to class and tried and still didn't pass the class.
Loved her. Made a 8 a.m. Makes it EASY to go to class. First test she let us use our books.
Very clear, organized and specific. If you put effort in, you'll get an A. I'm taking her again for Managerial Accounting.
Do not take her if you don't understand accounting. I took managerial accounting at another college that didn't transfer and just sitting in the classes I felt bad for the other students. She doesn't teach, she expects you to read and just understand it. Only does problems during class. Is a bit snippy too.
She's a good teacher but probably one of the hardest classes I've ever had.
Mrs. Movahed is the best teacher I have had at ECU. I wish she taught all of my classes. I have taken her for financial and managerial. Go to class and do not fall behind and you will be fine. Plus she is easy on the eyes as she is a beautiful looking women. This alone motivated me to go to class.
She is so helpful! She has 25 EC points to give out within the class and I got a 75 on a test and was still able to get an A. Accounting itself is difficult but she is always willing to help. A very fair teacher and an awesome person!
Shes a good teacher. A lot of online assignments and quizzes. They are not hard but they consume a lot of time to complete.
Financial Accounting was a tough course with her. I ultimately had to teach myself to get the grade needed to get credit for the COB. Go to class.
Attendance isn't mandatory but highly suggested. Great lectures, very helpful and eager to answer questions. Lots of work in my accounting lab but doing the HW and quizzes helps you better understand the material and gets you easy 1010s. 4 exams, online HW assignments and quizzes for each chapter and a comprehensive final exam. GREAT PROFESSOR.
Movahed is an awesome professor. She can be a little hard to understand with her accent, but has no problem at all repeating herself or clarifying what she was trying to say. Definitely will go out of her way of help you out especially with homework problems. Do the assigned reading, come to class, and ask questions and you'll do fine.
Mrs. Movahed is a great teacher! I was skeptical at first about taking her because of some reviews of her accent and understanding her, but she is pretty easy to understand and will slow down and repeat things if you need her too!Attendance isn't taken but there are pop quizzes and extra credit participation points if you go, so you should go!
She was a good teacher. I would recommend going to class every time & reworking the online homework. She was very helpful and will do whatever she can to help you. The test were pretty tough, but if you re-read notes you should do good on them. There was a lot of online homework to do. She doesn't take attendance but gives out participation points.
This professor is really hard and have a really strong accent. She won't repeat herself if you ask her in class. She will tell you to look on Blackboard. Her exams are really hard. I do not recommend taking her.
Her class is really hard. Her exams are confusing. I don't recommend taking her.
You have to read and re-read the book to pass class. She is a really tough grader.
Very hard class. Lots of pop quizzes and tests are super difficult. She's there to help you but you have to teach yourself a lot. You need the book everyday in class and if you skip class you won't pass.
If you ask questions in class and she has already discussed it, even if your question is just for clarifying she gets nasty and gets mad at you for not understanding the first time. Tests are very hard, she tells you to study online quizzes however the theory questions are almost never on quizzes and take up a lot of the tests. DONT TAKE THIS CLASS
One of the worst professors I have ever had. I wouldn't recommend taking her for any accounting class. She isn't clear about what we are learning, then tells us when we don't understand to go back into the book and read it. Also, she'll give you quizzes online, but you only have 20 min to do 17 problems of all math, and she doesn't care.
One of my professors I have had at ECU. She is so helpful and really cares that her students are doing well. As long as you participate and she knows who you are you will pass with an A!
Very respectable professor. Knows the material and is extremely willing to help if you go to her office hours. I recommend going to class because it's harder to teach yourself out of the book but I would take her class again if I could
She is the best professor I have had at ECU. She really cares about teaching her students. I am an accounting major who would like to become an MSA, CPA. She is now my role model. If you're an accounting major I highly suggest you take her. You won't regret it.
WORST TEACHER. WANTS HER STUDENTS TO FAIL. TURN AROUND WHILE YOU CAN.
Do not take her, she is the worst teacher I've ever had and she does not care for her students at all. If you ask for help on anything she's covered in class she gets very snarky and tells you to reread the book. Her tests are super hard. And I don't know why this site says her average is a B-, my class average was a 66.1%. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
After finishing the semester I believe these comments are harsh. She really cares about her students but you have to care first. She was always there to help when I needed it and never told me to simply "go back and read". It is a difficult class but ask for help when needed and read the chapters or you'll struggle on theory questions. Take her!
You can ask her questions and she will give you a question back (Not very clear). She is very confusing at times and does not give the greatest feedback. She does have a foreign accent which can be difficult at first to understand. On the bright side, she is very nice. I would take another professor if I had the opportunity to.
Class structure requires students to have read material before class and be prepared to be engaged during lecture. Mrs. Movahed asks students many questions during class. You must be very proficient in the material in order to make an A in the class as the tests can be tricky if you don't study enough. She is an excellent professor.
Movahed was a very good teacher. While I have had some accounting background, if you had a question she would make sure that you understood before she moved on. I received a 102 on the first exam. She gives extra credit opportunities on the test! I would have had a 98 in the class if I would have studied more for the exam.
not a terrible teacher but i would say if you could take another professor, do it. may more homework then others and there is a project at the end that is ridiculously time consuming. the tests are so hard and so is the final. just a hard class in general. take another professor at all costs.
Ms. Movahed is really helpful and she does care about her students. I think that the class is really tough but she is good at helping. You have to study on your own a lot, which is a pain but it's necessary to make a good grade. I do recommend her though she is a good professor
Great professor, really engages her students. If you're at college to exercise a little effort while expanding your horizons and really mastering course material, take professor Movahed. If you're looking to exercise as little effort as possible, don't take professor Movahed, you will not receive an "easy A".
By far the hardest class I've ever taken. A big percentage of students end up retaking the class due to how hard the tests are and how little her lectures relate to the tests. She expects you to know the information already after one day of teaching it. Final exam was so confusing. Do yourself a favor and choose another professor.
literally the hardest professor i have ever taken and I've worked really hard in the class. doesn't do a very good job on explaining things and if you were to ask her a question, she would get annoyed and tell you to look in the book. if you asked her what would be on exams she would just say "know everything". the class average was a 56
Movahed is a great professor but her course is very challenging. If a student is asking the same question over and over she'll tell you to look in the book. go to her office hours. People who call her class hard didn't study enough because the class is very hard but doable. You wont pass unless you learn and start studyng like 4 days before a test
She has an accent so you can't understand half of what she says to begin with. Then while you're sitting there, lost and confused, she'll call on you to give an answer. Even when she clearly knows you have no idea what she's talking about.
Movahed is a great professor. if you read the chapters before coming to class, you will understand the class much easier. She does call on people randomly though because she does like to see participation. She clearly loves teaching and when our class did really well on one of the tests she was very happy and brought in donuts for everyone
Accounting is hard and he accent does not help at all. She gave one extra credit the whole semester and it barely affected the grade. Most of your grade comes from the tests, which are difficult. & the clicker questions count towards participation but you have to get them right or it goes against you. & she doesn't curve. I was 3 pts away from a C.
Mrs. Movahed is an amazing professor! Most of the people who do not like her, do not try. If you read your book, and put a little bit of effort outside of class you will succeed. Mrs. Movahed goes out of her way to help students during her office hours, through email or even over the phone if chosen. Great teacher!
Shes a really great teacher and if she sees potential in you she will try to drive it!!
Mrs. Movahed really is a great teacher who is willing to help you out when you show the interest. You have a good amount of homework but it really makes you learn the information. Definitely a very knowledgeable teacher who drives her students for success.
Read!! Itll make completing the hw/quizzes/& tests a lot better. She is really caring about her students but, she herself will tell you to rely on the textbook for the tests, not on her lectures. If you want an A, DO NOT wait until last minute to do hw or to study. Read chapters & review QUIZZES to study for tests. Ps: no attd. is taken (;
Be prepared to read and work. Read the book before quizzes and study your formulas. There were 3 test and a midterm. Do the homework you get three chances to get a good grade. The tests are very similar to the quizzes. You have to put in the work to get a good grade.
This class is what you would expect. Everything is straight forward and clear. The only thing I do not like is she makes you participate in a DB for every chapter which sucks when you understand the material and do not need to ask a questions about it. Other than that, I would take this professor again.
Really bad lectures. Nothing is explained. She constantly calls on people to answer her questions, and is angry when NOBODY can figure it out. Literally 2 people in the class might know what she's talking about. She makes you buy a clicker, instead of using turningpoint app. The material is already difficult, and her teaching does not help.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! Worst class I've ever taken
The hardest class I have taken. The quizzes and learn smart are not bad but its the test that are impossible. The first test is somewhat hard, the second test not so bad. The third and the final both had averages below 50%. Do not take this class.
If you enjoy ridiculously hard tests, and want to fail shes the perfect teacher for you! Definitely would not recommend.
Tests are insanely hard. She is not understanding when emailed about personal life issues. This is a 7-week course and she is jamming everything she can into the short timeframe. If you enjoy teaching yourself and hard tests, she's perfect for you. AVOID HER
This is honestly the worst professor I've ever had. She assumes that no one is reading the material and if you ask her a question that she thinks is stupid she will not help and tell you to read the book. She does NOT help. You have to learn the material yourself and the tests are almost impossible to get higher than a 60%. I would not take her.
This professor is very harsh and has little compassion for her students. If class is online she will make online lectures at random times. Her tests/work can be due any time of day its never the same and if you have work or a conflict she will let u get a zero. Her projects are hard and she is very irrational. DONT TAKE HER COURSES!
This is the worst professor honestly. Our whole class had issues with her. She doesnt care that our class gets like 18% on exams every time, yikes. There is no schedule she goes by for anything. Her projects make no sense. She let us use notes for one test and got mad we used them? Makes no sense! Dont take her unless u wanna fail and have anxiety.
Worst professor I have ever taken. She says she is understanding about things but if you email her she is not understanding. There is absolutely no schedule to the course and all of the meetings are random. Everyone in the class is having trouble making over a 60% on the tests. She does not offer a curve or extra credit. Class average is about 50%.
Worst professor I've ever had at ECU. Our whole class had issues with her and the work she gives. There is no structure to this course. She is not understanding whatsoever. If you email her with an issue she is extremely rude in her responses. She does not care that her whole class fails projects and quizzes. Do not take her class!!
This class is by far the hardest class I have ever taken. The projects that she assigns are nearly impossible to do. The highest I ever got on one was a 40. I tried extremely hard in class and asked for help, but she was rude. I attended every lecture and did every extra thing I could to pass the class, and barely passed. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
Avoid this one. Does not actually "Teach" anything. All material I have learned so far has been entirely on my own using the horrible online homework and the internet. The Tests/Quiz's are nothing like the HW, making them near impossible to properly study for. Frustratingly poorly executed class.
The worst! 0 empathy. She is extremely picky with everything. Test count 70% of your grade. She is paranoid with people cheating. She barely teaches. The only time we see her is during a critic (made 15 min video complaining on how we weren't completing the DB correctly). AVOID!!!
THE WORST AVOID AT ALL COST!!! If I could I would fire her for being the worst teacher in the history of teaching
Took this class online, one of the worst classes I could have ever taken, she had no live meetings, didn't ever have live sessions she just made us read the textbook and teach accounting to ourselves.
Tests are extremely hard, gives study guides sometimes but they have nothing to do with the actual test materiel. Doesn't do any actual lectures so if you're going to take this class look forward to learning accounting by yourself.
If you're thinking about taking her class, don't. Doesn't have any live lectures. You have to teach yourself the whole semester. Constantly is asking why are her students struggling when she doesn't teach a thing. Rude and acts like it's bothering her when you ask for help individually. To sum it up, run far away from this class and don't look back
This is a honest review. While her actual teaching methods are not bad, the lack of communication with the class is. Sending your students a mass email complaining in an unprofessional manner is annoying, and riddles me with anxiety. Maximize face to face time with her whenever you can, she isn't awful at teaching, just at managing a class.
She didn't teach the class the entire semester would send out mass emails to classes compiling about how the class average on a test was bad when she wouldn't teach her review sessions were done by her TA's. The test themselves were nothing like what was given on the extra help work or the quizzes the study guide that if provided would be no help
The worst professor Ive had at ecu. She does virtually no teaching of her own. She expects students to teach themselves with the textbook. Doesnt even make her own exams they are all on the textbook website. Extremely difficult exams. Highest class avg on an exam so far is a 60%(lowest 41%). No curve ever. Avoid her at all costs
Prof Movahed is damn near perfect. Her classes are hard, but she really cares about all her students. If you are committed to ding well in her class you will. If you need extra help she wont hesitate to give you all the help you need. She wants you to succeed as much as you do.
This teacher does not click with the student body. Her teaching is very different from the average teacher at ECU. Extremely tough grading. Majority of the class has dropped her as well. Avoid at all cost.
This teacher is one of the worst in the accounting department. She gets angry at the class for not understanding. No such thing as bad student, only bad teacher.
She's the best. I thought I was going to struggle in accounting and she made an A possible for me! If you skip classes often, this isn't the class for you. She is very caring and truly wants you to succeed. The night before an exam I had some questions and she allowed me to call her. She helped me over the phone for an hour. Highly recommend!
She does not actually lecture, she just talks to us and expect us to know the material. She does not give us a chance to right things down while going over the material. If the class is lost and has questions she gets annoyed with us for asking questions. She jumps around a lot while going over the material which makes it harder to grasp concepts.
Great professor if you pay attention to her lectures. She has a sense of humor and if you do all the homework/quizzes you'll pass the class. Definitely a hard class though.
Definitely a professor for those who work hard, she is kind, but firm. Not a good match for my learning style, lectures were fast paced and chalk heavy. Good luck in this class, read the textbooks before tests or youll regret it, like I did.
I went into this class the same as any other. Sat down, listen, get bored and let my mind wander. Figured I'd be fine but after the second chapter I got COVID and I was left in the dust. However she got me back on track with videos she used and I was able to learn all the material myself. I was the hardest thing I ever did, but she made it possible
Pay attention, reading outside of class and participating goes a long way
Professor Movahed is amazing. I would stay after class almost every time and she would help me 1on1 with the homework that was due the next week. She has review sessions the class before every test which she answers any questions anyone has. Accounting is already a hard topic, but she deeply cares about all her students and wants them to succeed.
Expects you to know everything prior to her teaching you the material. Classes aren't so much lectures as they are more her giving you tasks/questions and telling you to try to complete them on your own. If you miss class and get behind good luck getting caught up she flies through material. Would not recommend to anyone
Terrible professor, doesnt teach at all, relies on the concept videos to teach for her
She is a very knowledgeable professor. She also cares very much about her students, so she is always seeing if anyone needs help and encourages others to go to office hours/tutoring. Your grade in her class relies heavily on tests. She assigns a lot of homework but they don't weigh all that much. She does offer extra credit quite often.
Show up and put in effort and you pass, sometimes hard to understand but will stop class to explain
Do not take this class. You come to class and she expects you to know everything. Exams are nothing like what we are learning. Her teaching is very scatterbrained and not very explanatory. She will try to help but just goes around in circles and you leave more confused
This class was hard. This is the first class that I have not passed the first time. It was either her or taking it with Mr. Broadfoot. I waited too late to register, so I had to take it with her. Now, I'm spending more money because I didn't want to withdraw. Only take this is you are taking 12-credit hours and study for this class 2+ hours a day.
Definitely the hardest class I've ever taken. If you can take it with another professor I highly recommend that you do. Over half of the class dropped during the withdraw period, as I think the majority were failing. U will need to devote time everyday, she expects you to know details best to be overprepared than not.
Amazing professor if you pay attention and ask questions. Took her for both financial and managerial, pay attention in lectures. Attendance was mandatory for financial but not managerial, however both classes are a breeze if you show up and pay attention. Tests weigh a lot compared to homework and quizzes. She offers great help and feedback.
I understand she is probably getting some bad ratings because the course is hard, but she's genuinely a bad professor. I never understood anything in class, then took the class online over a winter semester and completely self taught myself and it was infinitely easier than her class. Do not take.
