great prof, easy to communicate since this is a cross-cultural international business class!!! like it..
She's nice but such a hard marker when it comes to her tests and projects.. for such an easy course her marking is ridiculous.. it's kind of as if she doesn't want you to get a good grade.
Azita doesn't know how to teach effectively, is confusing and presents her opinions as fact.
One of the worst instructors at capilano. She seems to us her emotions before professional judgement. Her marking criteria is very confusing, and she presents her opinions as if they are facts. She is also not very well versed current business events or the culture of other countries.
It's not a very hard class, you just need to put in a little effort like all other classes. Definitely lots of assignments, but that makes you read the book.
Terrible. Unclear. Lazy. Kept postponing things. Class was very underutilized.
Azita makes you sign an attendance sheet every class as if you are in elementary school. She literally can't teach and the course content is in general useless. Especially the textbook. The only reason to take this course is for a program requirement, otherwise stay away from this prof or course..
Good course
Azita goes out of her way to make you feel as small as can be. She will interrupt you during presentations pointing out your flaws and has no problem talking about lowering your mark while presenting. Extremely rude and for some reason does not allow you to eat in class? Overall, her lectures may be easy but it's not worth taking IBUS with her.
Extremely unclear marking rubric that relies on what your class mates think about your performance. She doesn't post her PowerPoints and won't explain why. Exams on based on other students presentations regardless of their accuracy. Takes attendece like a high school class. Completely useless class and marks are based on her feelings.
Azita is great! I had her for my IBUS 255 class, now taking 321 class with her. She seems concerned and wants you to do your best. She does mark attendance and participation, which is fair I think and it pushes you to participate in the course. People who complain are the slackers who skip classes and put minimal effort.
Honestly her learning style just does not resonate with me or that of my classmates. Classes are extremely boring, you copy notes from the ppt which is not posted online. Don't miss class either she will dock you marks. Honestly a fairly easy grade though and she means well.
Very hard marker!! Tests are extremely difficult Unclear with all assignments Lectures are very boring - no passion demonstrated Powerpoint slides have way to much writing Gives only negative feedback Takes attendance every class (attendance can effect grade) Not aloud to eat in class
Azita uses power point slides for her lectures that she does post online. For each chapter she gives you a page of questions you should know by the end of the chapter (she uses these questions on her tests) I didn't enjoy the course but she made it easy to learn the material. Unclear assignment requirements but overall an okay marker.
Azita's class is easy but extremely boring . Attendance matters!. Just go to class, sit there and voila! 5% right there!. There is final group project which worth 40% . other than that just go to class and do work and you are all golden.
Honestly she is a tough marker, lectures are so boring. I didn't enjoy the class honestly.
Easy course and material. However, I would suggest not taking this course with Azita. She is an easy marker, but she treats her students like kindergartens. She takes attendance, doesn't allow food in class, and he slides are very long, which she doesn't upload to moodle.
-Picky to give marks. -A lot to do (group reports, presentations, assignments) -Randomly pick few assignments(which require a long time to complete for each assignment) and marks. It might allow you lose maximum 9% out of 100% if you miss two out of six assignments -Missing one class lose 1% (cares too much about attendance)
Be ready for team projects Don't buy the book Study from the slides and you will be just fine It is not a hard class, just memorize her slide and its an easy A
Honestly the worst professor I've had at Capilano. For such a basic class with already boring content, she somehow manages to make it unbearably mind-numbing. Beyond that, she teaches the course material like you're a small child, while taking attendance like you're in kindergarten - why go when she just reads the slides that are already on Moodle?
Azita is incredibly unclear about her expectations for projects. She will have a marking criteria in mind but won't communicate it. She's also very rude to students.
Course was very dry. Material covered in class is posted to moodle after each chapter. Content is very easy to understand and quizzes don't require much effort.
Azita doesn't post her powerpoint with no good reason as to why she doesn't. She assigns 6 cases that take forever to complete but she randomly chooses 2 of them to mark. She springs presentations on you without any warning. I would steer clear of her class for IBUS if you have a heavy course load. She will dump so much work on you for small marks
The Course itself is interesting, the ledcture is good as well, but had a lot of homework to do like case studies, presentation...
So done with her class. Doesn't give grading criteria ever. Way too many projects that're overlapping. And if you miss three of her classes she'll ask you to drop the course. She doesn't give perfect marks either, even when it's peer marked and you get 100 from everyone.
Assigns 6 long case studies & only marks 2 of them randomly. You do a lot of homework for marks you may not even get. Very unclear with her assignments. Says one thing & then posts different instructions on moodle. Springs group presentations on you with no warning OVER THANKSGIVING BREAK. The course is easy, but Azita is a frustrating teacher.
Doesn't post nots on moodle. Lots of small assignments.
Azita takes attendance every class & thus, does not post her slides on moodle. There are many written homework assignments, 3 group papers & 2 group presentations (grades presentations strictly). Although classes feel very repetitive, Azita is a fine professor. Suggestions: study hard for the midterm & memorize presentations. Interesting class!
She's not bad, not terrible. Sometimes her assignment outliines can be confusing and she'll randomly change what needs to be done or will add extra questions to an assignment. Overall, not a very hard class and it's easy to get a solid grade.
Very Interesting topics discussed about logistics and supply chain management. Two group papers worth a lot and examinations are based on mostly power point slides and handouts. Azita is a great professor, keep up with the assignments and start early for the papers.
I took IBUS341 (Logistics) to learn more on the field. Unfortunately Azita doesn't develop learning or understanding. She gives the impression that she doesn't know anything in the field to which she speaks, and if she does, she doesn't communicate it. Midterms are filled with confusing question that are contradicting to course material.
Disorganized Inconsistent with the information she tells you Nagging and uninspirational
Azita seems to give the impression she knows nothing to which she teaches. She is disorganized and can't answer simple questions that students ask about material or presentations. The material is easy yet she makes the Midterm and quiz confusing to mislead students. The Textbook is awesome and should be studied, though she contradicts it.
Azita seems nice but is also very frustrating. Her instructions for assignments given verbally and on moodle are inconsistent. Most of the material posted there is from previous semesters, who knows how long... you will need to write a 10 page paper and give a 10 minute presentation by yourself. 1% taken off your final grade for every missed class.
I disagree with the low ratings that other students have given for Azita. The first day of class she mentioned to be patient. There is certainly a reason to her method of teaching. Azita goes out of her way to find materials for the course. She is a very fair marker and a great Professor. I would love to take more courses with her.
She is a fair grader. This course is research heavy, however, this is the only way to teach cross-cultural. I will want to take more courses with her.
If you do study, you could get an easy A.
It makes so much sense. She teaches Cross-Cultural, and therefore there is teams and teamwork.
She could be easily misunderstood at first. Give it time and you will realize her method of teaching is the best. Love her classes.
Azita is an awesome teacher who is reasonable, flexible and really cares about her students. Her high-context cultural background contrasts with typical North American communication styles which really helped me understand the course content and made it even more fascinating. Was able to directly apply what I learned in the real business world.
I have taken Azita for a few classes now and I love her as a teacher. I highly recommend taking her class. I will be taking more or her classes throughout my degree.
Azita is a really straight forward instructor as she is very detailed in her expectations, outlines, and grading criteria. What more could you ask for? You know exactly how to do well. As long as you put in the work, you'll get the mark that you deserve. Everything you learn is relevant in terms of understanding different cultures. Fantastic class.
This class is mandatory, but I would've taken it regardless. Her class is really interesting; it is so great how Azita sets out the class for lots of group participation and discussions. She puts in the effort to give variation in her lectures and ensures that every student understands the material. I would definitely take her again.
I really enjoyed IBUS 255, Azita goes over the material a lot so it sinks in and all the assignments correlate to what you are learning. If you pay attention and take notes it's an extremely easy course. The content covers many aspects of Cross-Cultural Business especially Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions. would gladly take again, I learned so much!
Azita is great! She is caring, passionate about what she teaches, and gives good feedback. She wants students to do well. I took 3 classes with her and enjoyed them. Her presentations are interesting, she even hints what maybe on exam, and will help you. She is more fair marker, not tough grader. Class attendance does matter after 2 misses.
Azita's IBUS 255 class is very enjoyable. It is a nice opportunity to take a break from the normal BADM courses and learn a little about other cultures. Attendance is mandatory but the lectures are entertaining. Don't let the poor reviews frighten you, Azita is a very caring professor.
Azita teaches through lots of videos, lectures, guest speakers, and peer presentations. She is always up to date with current events and isn't boring. Sassy at times.I love her class as I learned the most about the world as a whole. This is my second time taking her class and yes she has high standards in giving marks, but you get what you put in.
Azita is a very caring professor who always comes to class prepared to teach and share her knowledge. She divides the class into groups from the very first class which really helps students meet new people. She encourages participation and makes the class environment welcoming and friendly. I highly recommend taking a class with Azita if you can.
I am an international student and enjoyed having Azita as an instructor. She is always prepared for each class and give us different types of assignments during the semester, so no boredom at all. I will take another class with her in the future.
Attendance counts as your participation. I would strongly recommend taking CMNS220 before taking this course. Azita is an excellent teacher that makes the material relatable. Be prepared to take lots of notes. She can be very repetitive in her lectures. Do not take this course if you're not comfortable having your teammates chosen for you
Azita is definitely a tough instructor- she is sometimes unclear about what she wants from you regarding assignments. But, if you read the book (if you want an A), you participate in class, and give yourself lots of time to work on the final paper, you'll be fine. Her lectures are interesting and relevant, and her powerpoints are great study tools.
Azita is a caring and interesting professor - her powerpoints are great study tools for midterm and final. As a student, if you attend her class and pay attention, you will be able to get a really good grade. She is also accessible outside the class, if you go to her during her office hours, you will find out she is always willing to help!
Lots of assignments worth little marks, 6 cases that require a lot of effort but are only worth 3% each (she marks only 2). Besides that Azita is a genuinely nice and caring person/teacher. She is a fair marker and the only way you won't get an A is if you're lazy. She cares about being a good prof !! Would definitely choose a class with her again.
Azita is the best instructor I have ever had at Capilano University. She made Cross Cultural Business fun and exciting to learn about. There were many assignments, but when is there not in University. As an Entrepreneur who is wanting to take my business internationally, the concepts I learned in her class will apply and help me be a success!! :)!
Azita is a kind and caring teacher. She is available outside of class time, and is willing to help her students; whether related to course material or not. She definitely knows what she is talking about. If you do your homework on time, and buy the textbook, you should have no troubles receiving a good grade.
I don't feel Azita is a very tuff grader. If you put your effort, you will get good grade. Read the book and PPT. Of course some students get good grades without a text book, so it is up to you. Her PPT kinda cover all the info. You do need the sign attendant sheet every class. Good luck!
Azita is wonderful and industry experienced instructor. She always there for students for assistance regarding career or course advice. There are a lot of opportunities to learn about international business & supply chain through the different team and individual projects.
Azita is not able to articulate requirements and has very ambiguous assignments that she can't even comprehend herself. She makes attendance mandatory because she knows her lectures are useless and teaches in the most archaic manner. DO not take a class with her if you have an option (sometimes the only option). I would leave cap because of her.
Shes not bad but a lot of group projects and assignments!! She seems like an easy marker but she never marks anything... which makes it impossible to know how you're doing in the course. She gives you a lot of cases throughout the semester but will only mark 2 or 3 so don't take azita's class if you don't want to waste your time on bs homework
Not compassionate at all.
I really appreciate and respect Azita. She is so intelligent and engaging and has really nailed a properly interesting and concise lecture style. Love her. I wasn't too passionate about international business but she makes it interesting and truly teaches you a lot. The assignments are designed perfectly, so expect to gain lots from each one.
Her classes are very dull, and I was even looking forward to taking this course because I thought it was going to be interesting. She makes you write cases but will only mark 3 or them at random and doesn't tell you, so you'll be doing a fair bit of homework that you hand in, but won't get marked on. Attendance is mandatory so you better show up.
Although she may be a kind person, Azitas lectures are not enjoyable. The class has assigned seating and assigned groups for every project (very group project heavy course) which makes it difficult to succeed. She assigns many papers, however only grades a few at random. Interesting course content, poorly delivered.
An engaging professor. Most topics are lectured through slides and videos and related to current events. 2 big group papers through the semester. Final one counts for 35% of your grade x_x A good professor but annoying when it comes to time management skills/ organization of content material. A lot of projects were really pressed for time.
Azita's a great instructor. Although there are quite a few assignments in this class, they're easy marks, and really straightforward. Show up to class and take notes, study those notes and supplement with the textbook. Make sure to do the connect quizzes for an easy 10% of your grade. One tip is to get the Environmental Scan out of the way first!!!
Azita is one of the best professors for International Business, she has great but sometimes boring lectures and all her quizzes and tests come directly from the powerpoint slides. You don't need the book whatsoever just show up to class, participate, and you will get an easy A
she gives you literally no time to work on your group assignments and is so unorgranized
Azita is a very annoying prof... easy in the sense that all you need to do is read her powerpoint slides and SHOW UP since he takes attendance every day. Reminds me of being in kindergarten because she assigns you groups and gives you these big neon name tags to use every class. Her slides are dry and super boring but you won't need the textbook.
You're stuck with the same group the whole semester so if you don't get along with your group, good luck. She doesn't sympathize with group conflict. If your group member sucks and you do all the work they still get the same mark. Azita also takes forever to mark anything so you won't get any feedback till the end of the semester.
She gives awful feedback, no constructive criticism just passive aggressive and rude. She also takes attendance and makes comments when we miss a class to make you feel uncomfortable.
If you can take a class with someone else, do it. The quizzes are useful for exams, and a lot of them are in the actual exam. She gives passive-aggressive feedback, no useful criticism. Missed a due date by a minute? Good luck getting marks on it. Not caring or sympathizing in any way. If you plan on having legitimate excuses, don't bother
It's a very straightforward course but her ways makes it so much harder to participate. Very clear in explaining concepts. Most of her assignment questions lacks context. Not very flexible or understanding. You can do well if you work everyday but her assignments and exams makes simple things harder which'll leave you cringing most of the time.
She is one of the worst profs I had so far. she will never respond to your emails. she is never helpful inside or outside the class. she has very limited knowledge of the course she is teaching and not willing to listen to your opinions or questions. she even makes angry faces when students try to talk or ask any questions.
Azita is one of the worst instructor at Cap. She is very rude, never listen and care your opinion. Her classes are waste of money.
Do not take any courses with her. Wasting time and Money
The worst. Be ready for heavy textbook jargon with no knowledge of actual business application. Completely unhelpful, zero manners. Don't know why Cap U would have her.
Each time I have a class with Azita she gets worse. Taken 255, 321, now 341 with her and I swear it's the same class each time but with different content. Unprofessional and unorganized. I had an issue with my team, she emailed my whole group saying I complained about them, thanks, there goes my peer review mark. Zero industry knowledge. Brutal.
Azita is an amazing instructor. I am truly surprised by why everyone is giving her a low grade. Yes, she goes over Power points in the class, but then this is way you actually learn the concepts that stick with you for the rest of your life. She is really caring, willing to help you and wants you to truly succeed.
Azita is insanely knowledgeable about her topic of international business. Her lectures, while dry at times, are worth listening to. I find she often sticks me with horrible teammates such that I end up doing the report solo; however, the insight I gain from her is worth the bad groups. Sometimes her grading is super odd, like good work, poor grade
Wouldn't recommend at all. Very rude
Azita, is not passionate about what she teaches and is clearly exhausted. She bumbles around and does not deliver content well or with confidence.
She was a good teacher. I felt bad because she lost control of the class (specifically, lots international students showed no respect). Her lectures may be dry and her slides in class don't match the ones posted to learn. If students respected her, the class would have been more interesting and less frustrating. Fair when it comes to grades :)
She micromanages so get ready to be annoyed. sends individual emails to pick on you. both of her class is almost exactly the same, same projects and assignments so idk why we have to pay double for the same thing.
she is a bit off, sometimes she is cool with interacting with students. today she snatched mobile phone from a student and threw it on the wall. there was an awkward silence in the classroom. seems mentally ill to me.
Azita is very rude at times and sometimes just even straight up disrespectful. She literally just reads off of the PowerPoints in class doesn't answer questions really well and if there is something that she cannot answer she just tries to change the topic and move on.
Azita is never ready to accept that she is wrong. She is so disrespectful towards students. Doesn't listen to any feedback and attending the classes is mandatory. She made us purchase the book but we never even opened it.
Azita's online class had a tough vibe. She avoided admitting she might be wrong and shut down student questions. An unmarked assignment snuck onto eLearn a week before it was due, leaving everyone confused and when a student asked about it, she just ignored them. Interesting subject, but the instructor made it difficult to enjoy.
I don't really understand the bad reviews on here about her. Yeah she is hard at times but she is very straight forward on what you need to do. I also found her marking forgiving, she will give you lots of feedback and she marks everything on time and rather fast. You can tell she really cares about her work and teaching, don't hesitate to take her
I do understand all of the bad reviews on here. I'm a straight A-A+ student, so when an instructor gives me a lower grade on a quality assignment, I know it's not based on my ability but rather their incompetence. Good luck if you have an issue with poor group members. You'll get no sympathy. It's time to retire, Azita.
Had Azita for BADM106(OB) She was extremely clear with class requirements, due dates and her expectations. Required online quiz/ chapter, a lot of reading and concepts. Assigned seating, lots of table/class discussions. 2 midterms, final, group project, peer review & attendance for final grade. MUST ATTEND CLASS! Puts people on the spot sometimes.
Knows her stuff - but very much disorganized. Never completes letucers properly or on time. Accuses IT for not having the right eLearn format. Doesnt explain assignments clearly & concisely. will have to be proactive. Can't rely on her for help - expects you to know what she means even tho she still doesn't explain herself very well to begin with.
THEE most unorganized instructor I have ever seen. Speeds thru some topics while very slow on others. nothing has ever been on schedule - tests are mostly based on slides and class handouts. Doesn't provide clear instructions for class assignments & inclass surveys aren't anonymous.
She is very Un-understanding, she seems vey nice but evil.
She is a very very very racist professor. It's irony she is teaching international business. She is not cooperative at all. She is not even good at teaching. DO NOT TAKE this professor for any course. Not only she will mess your grades, she will also mess your mental health. Avoid this professor at all cost.
She makes you fill out a survey that is not anonymous - therefore she will hold any negative response against you. Also asks for additional personal info from you in class - that is not mandatory to fill out. She is a sloppy instructor - very unorganzied. papers are not ever about supply chain. Blockchain and EV business models.
I took her IBUS255 and IBUS321, i feel frustrated when she told me i was unprepared when i was nervous in group presentation which i did all day and night. Her class was interesting enough for me and i kind like her as an instructor but that doesn't change the fact she is a tough grader.
Very nice professor. Participation matters in her classes and attendance is mandatory. As long as you show up to class and don't go on your phone and participate, the semester will go by easily. You wont get a free pass. She knows alot about what shes talking about and it is interesting if you pay attention. A lot of paperwork is used in her class.
SAVE YOUR MONEY
This is the only professor in my 3 years at Capilano university which I have went out of my way to rate. This was the worst professor I have ever had, she not only was unfair but she was rude and very disrespectful. While I was presenting my group presentation she was the only person that was loud. She also cut our presentation short for no reason.
She's alright. She knows what she's talking about, but you really have to pay attention in class. Everything - class discussions, videos, slides, guest speakers will be used on tests. Attendance is mandatory. If you show up to class, pay attention, you'll do fine. She has an older style of teaching - a lot of papers and respect for elders expected.
honestly one of the most rude, unfair teachers at Capilano. attendance is mandatory and worth 5% of your grade but even it you are excused from the class she still takes off marks for the absence. She talks down to her students and honestly is just the worst
took her for BADM 106 she was okay in terms of teaching style but definitely had favs. DO NOT BE LATE she points/call out students for being late and requires doctors note for absents.
Don't take her and don't waste your time. What she teaches in class doesn't match what's on elearn and attendance is compulsory or she cuts marks. She made an easy course unnecessarily tough
