She's the worst teacher in EVC! She doesn't know what she's teaching or what she's talking about. The test is way different from the lecture! If you want to pass don't take her classes!

All I can say is she's one of the worst teacher is EVC! The things on the test is way different on what we studied on the lecture!

This class was harder than it should have been. She makes her students feel dumb when they answer a question wrong and replies with "you should know this by now" and doesn't respond to her emails. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, but it just feels like a burden trying to get her help. You're better off getting help from classmates.

You are better off just reading the whole textbook by yourself and getting help from classmates. She is not very accommodating for being an online course. She is not helpful at answering questions and talks down on students for their questions. There are many exams and quizzes and you will have to end up dedicating all of your time to this class.

She is not compassionate at all with COVID, rarely responding to emails. Also, she is super uptight, rudely answering questions and not being helpful. The textbook helps the most, but the assignments do not match with the exams. Manage your time with studying and the assignments. You have to think outside of the book to do well on the exams.

Professor Tavana did not seem to care about her students. While it is harder for professors and teachers due to distance learning, she did not adapt to the changes. When students expressed that they needed extra help, she made us feel stupid. When an exam couldnt be taken on proctorio for tech. diffs, she says I cant do anything about it.

She is the WORST teacher EVER. She likes to put her students down, and offers no help when the system crashes. She always snaps when someone asks a question. Regret even enrolling in her class. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT enroll in her classes.

I would not recommend her at all. She does not care about her students and she snaps at her students when trying to ask questions. Even during the Pandemic, she is not lenient what's so ever and her grading scale is off with homework weighing very little. The outlines and extra homework did not help with studying and the quizzes/exams weigh a ton.

Do not take class. she is heavily reliant on tests that are weighed uneven. she is also so defensive when students try to come with questions and fails to use resources to help us succeed in HER class. She is teaching like she still is in a class room & not keeping into consideration her students during the pandemic. She dont care about us... sad.

She was very mean to her students and made us feel dumb whenever we had any questions. If there was a mistake with grades, we wouldn't be able to reach out to her by email because she doesn't even check it. We also had to buy an online textbook. If you take this class, your classmates will get you an A if you all work HARD.

Professor Tavana was unwilling to help students from the beginning of the semester to the end. Tests are straightforward and mostly from slides and the textbook. Zoom meetings cover lab introduction only; you are on your own for lecture. She does the bare minimum and does not seem to care whether or not her students learn the material. A shame.

Professor Tavana is not a good teacher. She has shown no interest in helping me pass the class. I have observed her be rude and ignore other students questions in class as well, If you don't fit her profile of what success looks like turn off your camera, then you just might have a fighting chance in her eyes, but it doesn't look like hers are open

Professor Tavana will not help her students pass, but she will definitely help them fail. Expect no help, no consideration, cold callous behavior, could care less attitude, dismissive, test heavy, vague text book, rushed zoomed class meetings, and everything else that would make a class unenjoyable and worrisome. Do a favor a pick someone else!!!!!

She ignores student emails, yet says that shes available to email. Whenever we have any question w/ homework, lectures, labs, or canvas itself, she avoids the question and tells us to contact the Live Support for whatever website we use. She talks over people that are asking questions and gets defensive if we ask her questions about how she does it

Not worth. Listen to the bad reviews. Everything is confusing. None of the lectures or materials make sense. No study guides, no practice materials. You're basically self teaching. Sometimes there's even mistakes in lecture but she gets defensive when you mention it. Hard weekly quizzes. Also extremely strict with Proctorio setup. Please don't.

Don't do it. You're too young to die. I have an ulcer taking this class. I'm the cadaver on campus. Words can't describe how much this class is a joke. She NEVER wants to give study guides or clear expectation what tests will be on. When students struggle, she ignores us. She crams way too much info in too little time. Test avgs 60s or 50s.

although i got a decent grade in her class, her help was non existent. i got help from my classmates. she uses other applications that you have to pay for to do your homework. it is not on canvas.

She will overwhelm you with an impossible amount of diseases and info to memorize every week then test you the next. When you try to ask her for help or point out mistakes she gets defensive. Refuses to provide study guides or extra credit. Lectures 2-3+ hrs long a week not incl labs. I burned out after only 1 month. Don't be me. Don't take.

I took her class in Spr 2021, and I realized I made a severe mistake. Too many lectures were assigned (some 3+ hrs long), and extremely hard tests despite being multiple choice. She did not let her students rest, with a quiz or test EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK. & no study guides. Such a bad professor that I have known. Avoid her class unless you're smart.

HORRIBLE INSTRUCTOR! BEWARE! Professor Tavana is literally crazy. She will talk to you as if you are stupid. Disgusting personality, She is very strict on top of it all. She will not excuse you of anything, even if your computer breaks down during a test. You will STILL get an F. Save yourself and take any other teacher. You've been warned. Lol

EVC needs to re-asses having her as a professor. The point of being a teacher is too help educate your students on the subject that you are teaching. Making things harder for your students is unnecessary and completely degrading. If i have to retake this class because she does not know how to teach properly I am going to switch schools.

She literally doesn't do anything to help students. I would have so many breakdowns because of how much she stressed me out. If anything she purposely goes out of her way to make the class and your life harder. She also didn't care when students pointed out class mistakes. I think I have to retake this class later it's that bad. RUN!

surprised she's still a professor at EVC. I dropped her course and will definitely not take her again. Doesn't understand how to use canvas properly. thinks that if we turn in a quiz late even though it was under that right amount of time, then we're cheating. Has that "I'm the professor; I'm right and you're wrong" superiority complex.

If you want to get a good grade, you are going to apply to nursing school, or you actually want to learn something, dont take this class. She's the worst teacher I've ever had. 100% recommend taking Microbiology with a different professor. The class is test heavy and doesn't really make you critically think. I felt like I was memorizing most of the class and the final exam was literally all matching questions with no context whatsoever. The lectures were long and overbearing, didn't really explain things well.

She will assign exam dates that are not mentioned when you register. For example, she has a class Monday and Wednesday at a specific time, she will make the exam day on a THURSDAY at a random time. Not to mention she did not let us know what books we needed for class until the day BEFORE SCHOOL STARTED.

I do not recommend taking class with this professor. Her lectures are very long. The professor's quizzes are also quite confusing such as the wording when it can be much more simplified. Over all, her course is very exam heavy so your grade will be reliant upon that. I wish the best luck to whoever is taking this course with her.

Disrespectful to students. Doesn't seem to enjoy teaching, doesn't try to improve her teaching methods. Says uh and um between 200-300 times per pre-recorded lecture video. If you are good at self teaching and memorizing out of a textbook you will do fine. Rely heavily on your classmates to be sucessful and survive with her attitude.

I would not recommend Prof Tavana. All pre-recorded lectures were more than an hour long& constantlyyy says "um." 4 exams that make or break your grade. Doesn't review exam/ scores unless you meet for office hours. Take any other professor if possible.

DONT DO IT!!! I'm taking her over the summer and I'm already burnt out. My biggest issues are her slides are so minimal and barely say what she said in the lecture videos, so it's hard to prepare for exams. We had to memorize a disgusting amount of diseases 3 days before an exam. Extremely harsh grader, she even deducts points for misspelling!!!!

Do not take her class. She highly demands you to memorize a disgusting amount of material and will nitpick any small error you have and shove it in your face rather than help you to understand what it was. Heavy lectures and her lectures will confuse you more instead of helping you to understand the materials. She mumbles a lot in her lectures and also use a-lot of "ah uhm" in her lecture, can be very frustrated. Her study guides not helping with exams. Thank to my gen. bio prof did a good job so I can pass this class. Never again!!!

I took a biology class over the summer with professor Tavana it was not a not a good experience. She is very strict and she wants you to memorize a lot of information. This professor requires a Lockdown browser before taking quizzes. Her study guides are nothing compared to what's on the test, she words the questions differently making the quizzes much more difficult. Make sure to pay attention to every detail during her lectures and write down what she says because that will most likely be on the test. Avoid her

AVOID IF YOU CAN. Took BIOL21 over summer. Lectures are pre-recorded & hard to follow. Grade is based on tests & 1 bad score will bring your grade down. NEVER responds to emails. Requires lockdown browser + webcam for tests. Too much to memorize. You can only pass IF YOU STUDY. I studied for 6 hours per day. Make friends during lab so you can pass.

DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!! she doesn't care much about her students. She has recorded lectures that haven't been updated since 2022, and her lecture videos are more than 1 hour long consisting of her just reading off the textbook.

Would not recommend her for bio. Lectures are very long and hard to sit through. She talks in a monotonous voice and has an accent. 1-2 Lecture quizzes per week and an exam about every 3-4 weeks.

This professor lacks empathy, gives overly difficult quizzes and tests, and her lectures are long, poorly delivered, and hard to follow. Many students drop her class, and it's clear why. I had to retake both Microbiology and Physiology after taking her class—and now I have A's with better teachers.

The lectures were poorly organized and hard to follow, making it difficult to keep up with the material. Quizzes and exams were extremely challenging and often felt disconnected from what was taught. Labs were rushed and grading was overly strict with minimal feedback. Overall, the course felt more discouraging than educational.

I do not recommend her for bio. It's hard to understand her through lectures when she records herself talking. You feel disconnected from the material that's being taught to you.

Very heavy lectures that we have to learn it ourself and the exams came really difficult and tough. I have to drop with a W and retake since this is my major class.

This professor has very difficult tests and quizzes. There are quizzes you'll probably have every week with a lot of reading, but points for them were super low. Lab was also difficult as she gives worksheets all the time and always ask for specific answer and gets mad when you don't capitalize or spell the answers properly.
