he is OKAY. tests are easy. but he is not enough if you want to survive the exam
Pretty easy marker, but the exam is harder than you think.
ITM200 is easy!!! his assignments are the same. The exam is deadly, look out!
great guy, do the work, you'll do fine,
good guy.. little unclear but good teacher
He will obliterate your 'A' to a 'D' after the exam.
Good teacher, more importantly, an easy teacher.....although the exam is killer
Good teacher...just listen and be a good student.
easy term, tests, labs, assignments and class time flew by,,,,but then death...the exam is deadly...no such thing as studying too much for this one....RIP everyone
Easy but boring course, hard exam.
He's a nice person, knows his stuff, but doesn not prepare u for the final. He's very easy during the year, but as a result the final rocks you!
Good prof. Should do more to prepare class for final exam.
Easy assignments, the second test is a bit tougher. Good guy, but the final is gonna kill you.
Would anyone care to let me know if this prof. has an accent? if yes, how heavy? How is his English when he delivers his lectures?
Prof. Guergachi, your accent is fine....just don't make the Final so hard.
good Prof. nice guy. but dont get fooled by thinking his class is easy...becasue he Finals r very HARD!!
great lecturer. tests, assignments, and exam were easy. As long as you know what each line of code does, you should have no problem putting it altogeather on the tests and exam.
Our class was the first to take class with a new curriculum.(PHP&Javascript&HTML). What a mess. No matter how good a persons personality is (hes nice), if the class average on the midterm is 36% and 9/10 people failed...then class isnt good. ur there 4 grades, not to be friends with prof. -bhai
This man is a good character, but the guy cant teach. He walks around like he is scared of the students, and wouldn't tell us anything about exams except "focus". the bottom line is if u want to learn about php and java DONT take it with this loser.
networking class - crappy guy not flexible hard exams
Very nice guy but had the misfortune of beta-testing a harder curriculum to us this year. I was lucky I had a some good programming and web-coding background. He is a little unclear sometimes--i.e. there were some concepts I would've explained better.
IF you have to take the course, take it with him. The tests and assignments are VERY basic. He's a nice guy, but he doesn't update the website for assignments/tests, so it is better to attend all lectures. He does post all notes though, and explains things well.
terrible prof, screwed us over for the final exam.. didn't give clear instructions for term paper, and put ridiculous questions on the final exam that no one in the class has ever seen.. he even skipped 2 classes for so-called 'meetings' ya right. get outta here aziz
course was very much worthwile for me - you need to pay attention to the large amount of material dicussed in class; a lot of writing in the mid-term, and final exam tough, but fair
this is a great prof. don't rely on textbook, look at handouts and take notes in class
great prof., class was interesting and time flys by quickly. he spends the time to help students in class and after. the efforts he gave can't be found in every prof., thanks prof. Guergachi.
good prof, fairly easy class
Prof. Guergachi is very helpful when you ask him questions. In fact, he responses within 24-hours to most of my questions. But the reason I ask him so many questions is that he is not clear in class. He involves the class to participate, but he doesn't really discuss the main points to the class. I sometimes wonder whether he knows his materials.
Very helpful and courteous. I hope to see him again in another course before I'm outa here.
Professor Guergachi is a nice guy...Maybe a bit too nice. He gave extended deadlines when he should've been a bit tougher. He knows his stuff, but has a bit of difficulty getting it into English I think. Overprepare for the final exam. You'll thank yourself when you get hit with a monster of a coding question, 40M/C, and a smaller coding question.
great prof and very helpful. i didn't have problems following his lectures, but i attended all of them. miss one lecture and it will be hard for you to catch up
you can ask the prof for more help, and he will make all things very clear to you. Ask to meet him about your midterm, he will show you what mistakes you made and help you to solve those problems so that you do not repeat the same mistakes in the final.
Professor Guergachi is one of the best I've had yet at Ryerson teaching ITM, and especially ITM200. He's really nice and will always take the time to explain things to you if you need it. Attend his classes, he goes into much depth in the material and will tell you a lot of helpful things your textbook won't. Definitely recommended
This prof seriously cannot teach this course. Aziz relies heavily on the textbook solution key that came with his textbook. The class average was below 50% on the first midterm, and our class attendance is lower than any other ITM course. It makes me wonder why I am in ITM in the first place with profs like Aziz.
DO NOT take him for this class! He doesnt explain the basic concepts and doesnt know what he is teaching, relies on the book solutions.More than half of the class he just gives u problems to solve where nobody knows what they r doing. So attendance is not at all mandatory and is a waste of time becuz u r better off learning by urself reading the book.
Avoid taking him for 501 class. Hes very unclear and does not know how to answer the questions... he does not show a bit of sympathy for students.. the work load is very heavy and the test are very hard... avoid!
Relies heavily on the easy examples inside the textbook, takes an hour to explain a very simple concept, then tests you on the hard concepts he's never taught. The final project was grossly unfair, much too complicated compared to anything found in the textbook OR his examples. Didn't answer emails cause they were "too long".
He definitely isn't the clearest prof, but he'll dedicate as much time as he can to making you understand things, provided you actually do something as simple as raising your hand in class to ask (Lecture is boring, so this helps a lot). He LIKES clarifying and seems to feel uneasy when no one asks q's. Never needed to touch a 501 text problem
Aziz is a good professor. If you have questions his office door is always open to explain. LOVES questions in class if you don't understand. Attendance is not mandatory BUT if you find this material hard, read the book and then come to class ready to ask questions. Midterms are OK but you HAVE to study the book! Warning: end project is really tough
Choose him over Turetkin! Really nice and actually explains ppt slides but those examples are easier than questions in textbook and tests. 1st Midterm test = HARD but 2nd Midterm test = EASY (if you did the hwk questions). Labs are tricky and were from Turetkin so are vague/poorly written. Final Assignment = confusing + hard so focus on others.
He is a nice guy, approachable and friendly. He likes when students ask questions in class. Very enthusiastic about teaching mathematics. Probably one of the best mat teacher i've had. Final exam is hard. The 3rd quiz was unfairly defficult (we had to answer a queation that we had not been prepared for it). Overall a great Prof. I recommend him!
Loves it when you ask him for help and is willing to help you in any way. Sometimes answers your questions in an ambiguous manner (quite often actually). Testing was straightforward. No previous calc knowledge is needed (but is an advantage). Do the assigned questions (all of them) and your good to go. Great elective to take for NON-ECN majors.
By far the best QMS prof I have ever had. He has a passion for teaching and is extremely knowledgeable. He explains the material clearly and does countless examples in class. Go to class! Do ALL of the assigned questions (and then a few more) and you will do well.
He's very nice and so helpful. He even changed his office hours to right after class just so he can help students if they come.
This prof is very enthusiastic about the material, which keeps the lectures interesting. He also seems to genuinely care about his students and is one of the only instructors I know who constantly asks feedback about his teaching from the students.
Great guy, but hard course. They made this course mandatory starting THIS year for first-year BTM students so beaware for those applying for this course.I actually dropped the course along with maybe 50% of students. Not trying to scare, but be sure you know how to do Advanced Functions and Calculus. I came in with only data an had alot of trouible
This course is easy if you took advanced functions. Aziz wants to help students to be successful. Sometimes he does not explain material well. His mid terms and Finals were easy if you understand the material.
He's a great professor. He explains clearly, does lots of examples and takes up questions you couldn't get. Tests and quizzes were very fair, exam was a little difficult, but if I had did more problems, I would've done better. Would definitely take it again.
He is an excellent teacher. He does his best to try and teach the class. He also really cares about the success of his students. Lectures were not mandatory but helped a lot when it came to the midterm and final. Overall, a fun and enthusiastic teacher.
Professor Guergachi is really down to Earth, and makes a clear effort to explain math to students. He's always there if you need help, or have any questions. He strongly, strongly encourages that you ask questions in class, which I found to be a great quality. ITM107 is difficult if you don't like math, but he can help make it better.
I have had Aziz twice, he is an excellent prof, I struggled with the math concepts so that is why I had to take ITM107 twice. He is a very helpful prof and wants questions, as opposed to profs who dislike questions. He is very approachable, and with his help and teachings I was able to successfully pass this tough course.
ITM 107 is an easy course overall, only 2 tests and a final exam. All questions are MC and the course is a mixture of review from grade 9-12 math and new concepts. Aziz really cares for the students and explains lot of the lessons very clearly and precise. If you don't get something, the TA comes in very handy. You NEED the textbook for asgmnts
He is a great professor and is very clear when explaining concepts, he if you need help go to his office, also recommend TA lab sessions they really help
Aziz is a great prof, his lectures are fun and he works hard to make sure every students understands the concept at hand. You can easily get a B by doing the minimum amount of work required. Put in a little effort and you can get an A. Do your best to enroll in his class, you won't regret it.
Aziz is an amazing prof. He genuinely wants his students to do well! The tests can be tough, so you have to study hard, but he is there for you if you need anything. Great all around professor!!
The nicest professor ever! He is there for you 100% and really wants you to do well. LOVES QUESTIONS. Begs for them haha. Not a hard course (mostly high school math review) but he goes out of his way to make sure everyone knows whats going on. He even set up extra tutoring for people outside of the math centre because people were complaining.
Aziz is a professor that loves helping out people, but he's not really good at getting his point across sometimes. Tries to make simple concepts very complicated, which is where the textbook usually clarifies his lecture (except LP analysis lecture). I highly suggest having some grade 12 math background to do well in the class.
if you mess around he'll put the chrome to your dome.
The modules weren't too clear for the analysis part. If you study the text and practice the review questions in your textbook I don't see how you can do bad. This course helps students do well in their second and third year ITM courses.
Great professor and if you need help he's always there to help
Class is tough, but he cares about his students.
Oh Man. Do your homework man. Youre going to need the extra 10% after you fail the midterm. Final is not too bad, but prepare for test 2 with all you've got. Honestly I didnt take math seriously in high school and this prof will not give you a warm up. Be ready to pay for tutoring and get extra help if you are weak at MATH.
He wants students to understand the material, pretty fair prof.
His first test was easy. His 2nd test was a killer. His final exam was average. He is good prof overall. I would take again in the future
Prof is great at explaining new concepts. Encourages questions. Cares about students. Homework is easy. Read the slides. 1st test was ok, 2nd test was hard af. They should make a test every 2 chapters than only 2 tests. Basically if you have good work ethics, you'll do well and pass. Dont buy the new tb use old one same questions.
great prof. attend class and you will be fine find a good group for the team project (wortg 15%) and you will be solid
Good prof. You must attend class to succeed. The final project is not that tough but it does take a while to complete; get a good group and you'll be fine. I also found that having a study group helps a lot in this class. Also, ask questions when you are not sure about something. Overall, I was satisfied with this prof.
One of the best profs at Ryerson. He really cares about his students. Ask him questions and watch how excited he gets. Gives no surprises on the tests. Everything is from the questions and examples he does in class. Don't rely only on the slides; get that textbook if you want an easy A. Final was non-cumulative and allows 2 double-sided cheat sheet
Lol funny guy. None the less, his lectures are clear.
I honestly didn't take this class as seriously as I should have (especially since I'm already bad at math). He is a very caring professor who always seems too excited for math at 10 in the morning. Study for the second test because I thought I did well until I saw the result. Please do yourself a favour and do the assignments given by the TA
Overall, Professor Guergachi is great at what he does. He is very passionate with his practice of teaching and learning, particularly with linear algebra, although he does go off on a tangent about random topics. Easy marks for assignments and first couple of tests. Final was brutal though! Study, study, study!
He's not the best prof. He gets side-tracked very easily and talks about useless things. His tests are fairly easy because he takes the questions from the textbook.
He's a great person, but he doesn't fully provide you with a clear understanding of the material compared to the textbook. I found that the textbook at times was more helpful around covering aspects that you need to know for the midterms and final. If you're taking this course, make sure you read the textbook for clarification!
This course is not an easy course, particularly for mature students. If you would like to pass this course and you are not good in math review the chapter zero of the text before taking this course. It will help you to pass this course and understand the lectures. I strongly suggest doing the assignments.
Overall a nice prof. How he teaches depends on how engaged your class is. If the class gets noisey, he will rush the lecture and end class earlier, which is a downside if you struggle in math. But if your class is on track and engaged, he gets excited and goes in depth. He teaches the subject well, and the ppts are really helpful.
Overall an average prof. He is smart and he cares about students. However, he is not good at teaching and his tests are too easy compared to the final. You should be careful about the final one!
The usual as just any prof, you have to work for it. Test 1 and final exam were easy. test 2 was hard and assignments were a piece of cake. Explains concept so well. Would take again
ITM107 is basic math with few new things and professor Guergachi tought it so it highlighted the important parts and he tried to make it as simple as possible. He is always there if you need help. Make sure you attend the tutorials and do the homework.
Just finished the second course with Pr. Guergachi. I found his lectures quite interesting. He encourages class participation and helps in group projects. In addition, his texts/exams are not very tough. In overall, an amazing teacher and professional in the field of data science. Encourage you to take courses with him.
Amazing prof that's super transparent with his students. He's the prof you can ask any question no matter how stupid you might think it sounds when you're perplexed about a solution and you don't exactly understand one of the steps. He doesn't allow breaks during his lectures but instead makes time so you can leave 10 mins early which is nice.
Impossible to get a hold of, he booked his office hours right after class and after class is usually when the prof gets 20 students coming up to him for questions. He rushes you when you ask him a question because there are so many kids that want to ask a question. He also depends too much on the TA, any questions you have are answered by the TA.
Content is very easy to get, as long as you attend the lectures and have a basic background on math. Test questions are as easy as the textbook questions which makes it easy to get 100 on the entire course.
The class was fairly easy and straight forward. I 100% recommend getting the textbook and doing the homework questions, because those questions are similar to the ones on the exam.
Assignments every week. Get ready to work for your grade. Good prof tho.
Bro his TA teaches better. Good thing I paid attention in advanced functions in high school, because I would be so confused in his lectures. Also, the first 30 minutes of lectures are him trying to answer students' questions. He usually ends up rambling about completely different topics.
Just the usual prof, you gotta work for your grade. There are weekly homework assignments but they're easy. Test 1 is super easy, test 2 is a bit harder and the exam was easy. Just do your homework assignments and you'll be good. No surprises on tests.
He wastes a lot of time talking about unnecessary things in the beginning. Never answers a question properly but is a nice man. He has good knowledge but not the best at executing it.
he's a good person, you can tell he enjoys what he teaches and is patient with his students. for sure you need to focus to get a good mark but the concept isn't hard. i think anyone who gives him bad reviews just didn't study enough.
Great guy and prof. Sometimes goes on tangents but is really passionate about the concepts which made class interesting enough to follow. Assessments were always fair, never difficult. No recorded lectures unless requested by ALL students (big on privacy and consent lol) Ask questions though, he'll talk it out and help to the best of his ability.
Easy class. Take advantage of the discussion posts and the assignments. Tests are also easy.
Weekly participation and assignment was an easy 20%. Test 1 (25%) and Final Exam (30%) were easy. Test 2 (25%) was also easy but just time-consuming. He enjoys teaching math and will respond to questions and emails the day off. Just make sure you study and know the content and this will be an easy A. Best ITM107 prof among them all.
I had Aziz in ITM107 & ITM207. He is a great prof that knows his stuff. The 1st half of ITM207 is easy mode. The 2nd half of ITM207 is hard mode once you have to learn Raptor. If you don't have any programing experience like me it will be a challenge. Finals were extremely difficult & way more complicated than the homework, so be prepared.
For me, most of it was self-study because he didn't focus much on the material or if we were in a lecture- he expected the students with better programming knowledge to explain things. Don't expect much help from him regarding Raptor, and the final is heavy on that topic. He's a great guy but he needs to stay relevant to the topic.
Prof Aziz is one of the best prof you could ask for. He is far way better than debral or anjum. His lectures are quite hard to understand but with a little bit of self-study you can get a great mark. His midterm is pretty easy. The exams are made by course coordinator which is very tough so make sure you are well prepared for the exam.
Great prof, he is definitely passionate about what he teaches. There is a lot of resources to use for extra help so definitely take advantage of them. This class is easy to let fly under your radar so make sure you revise weekly.
Good prof. He reads these reviews so hopefully he sees good ones. My test came out as a 0, and he found out it was mistake so thanks.
Honestly a great prof. Very passionate to teach and enjoys answering questions. Even asks students to text him when they need help. Tests were also straightforward if you just generally do the tutorials, homework assignments, and some textbook questions on your own for additional practice.
First test was really easy but don't let it fool you, I didn't prepare as much and it showed. Second test was much more difficult, not because he purposely made it more difficult but because the material was more advanced. The exam was also easy. Just review the slides and webassign problems and you should do well in this course.
You'll be fine the final exam was a joke just read the textbook it's like an hour read a week. I don't think attending class is necessary.
Professor overall is a very good person I had him for ITM 107, and 207. This professor really cares about his students and wants them to know the content, prioritizes any questions students have over lectures, be sure to ask any gaps from previous lectures and assignments etc, he will gladly explain it. TA was also great but self study is a must.
Had him for both ITM 107 and 207. The professor is open and will help you to understand the content as much as possible. However, for Raptor questions, he will direct you to the TA. The Midterm was easy and the final exam is alright.
Took him for both ITM107 and ITM207. Helps students with questions, explains the answer thoroughly, and makes sure that the student understands the concept. However, anything to do with the RAPTOR assignments, he'll redirect you to the TA, but sometimes will help out as much as he can.
Honestly, phenomenal professor. Material was delivered mostly through textbook, but you could easily reach him at any point throughout the week and he would be prompt in responding. Overall, very approachable. Tests and Exam were very fair, if you had practiced the problems in the textbook you could do very well in this course.
This professor is overall very kind and friendly. Tho He rushes from one topic to another. 70% of the time he depends on slides. He also relies on " you learnt this in high school", so make sure your a genius in high school math. Test 2 and the exam are content heavy. Be aware of this prof and his hard test expectations.
Despite how fast he is most of the time, he's a great professor because he is always ready to help out students in need. He is easily accessible and the lectures were never boring despite it being math that i HATE.
funny guy, very passionate about what he talks about. make sure that you do the homework if you didn't take advanced functions. he doesn't reply to his emails but he ended up giving us his number to contact him during his office hours lmao
extremely hard tests and goes through work very fast
Very chill and honest professor, overall pretty solid. Only downside is when discussing with other classes, it seems as though the tests for Aziz were harder than for the others. Exams were all the same and super easy.
Aziz is an amazing prof. If you want to succeed in his classes it is vital to attend lectures, as he teaches everything in a way that is easy to understand. It is also essential to spend time outside of class practicing. His tests were fair and followed closely to the material taught. Overall great prof and I look forward to more classes with him.
The professor is good, he assigns weekly homework, which is easy. The first test is easy, second one is a bit harder, but you can definitely pass the class with an A if you study.
He will explain the concepts down to the level of a grade 10 student. He will answer the weirdest of questions. He explains mostly for the students that dont get it, and never shows the practical stuff. You have to attend the TA tutorials to get how to actually do the work assigned. Other than that, the whole course with him is great.
Hands down best prof for ITM107. It's a repeat of MHF4U but with a few extra concepts added. His lectures can get boring (content is draining) but easy to understand and answers questions happily. Definitely practice from the textbook and study well for Midterm 2, that was a bit difficult. Overall, easy to do well if you put in a bit of effort!
He was a good prof, attending the labs definitely helped me understand the material. Got above 95 on test 1 and final but test 2 ate me up. Make sure u study for it lol, it was harder than I anticipated esp bc the material is pretty easy.
Had him for ITM 107, and he gave us the exact questions that would be on the final. Best Prof in all of ITM
so terrible
Professor rambles during lectures and doesn't explain concepts clearly.
Great professor!! Very passionate about his teaching and clearly explains to students who ask questions. He usually lets us go around 15 minutes early. He lists the type of questions that will be covered in the tests/exams and there is weekly homework (10%) that helps boost your grade.
If u struggle w math hes the right person bc he simplifies the work for u. He gives lots of time to do the assignments and his tests r so EZ if u study. Hes also very passionate when it comes to teaching so yk hes fire when rambling. Hes super interactive w his lectures and is very ez to contact outside of class. Def rec him if u want to do good
Had him for itm107, very nice teacher. Test 2 was more difficult than expected. He provides an advance the test/exam layout. Really nice person overall, would take him again.
You must study. Test 2 hits most students like a truck, but if you do well on Test 1, Final Exam, and Homework, you should do good.
Great proffesor and a great man in general. He gives his whatsapp at the start of the sem so kids can contact him. His tests are very fair and he puts what he says he will and gives a breakdown of each question and the amount. He sometimes gets lost in the lecture and gets carried away so it can be mind numbing sometimes, great prof.
Honestly he's just average. He's better than most of the ITM 107 prof's but he isn't the best prof. He often gets carried away during his lectures and starts talking about random things. He's also very strict during test's and exams. If you even just look up to the wall or try to stretch he'll start paging you... Test 2 was very difficult.
lowkey mid, not a good communicator he kept ignoring my email and messages
He's an alright professor. Nice guy, and his classes are structured well, however he's not the best teacher. You'll have to directly ask him for explanations if you want to really understand. Relative to other math professors, hes great.
he explains things very well. he explains concepts thoroughly and reviews everything his students do not understand. he is also very accessible after hours and a genuinely caring professor.
This course is similar to Advanced Functions, with 2-3 new concepts. Everything, including the final, midterm, and assignments, is multiple-choice. Prof. Aziz gives easy assignments and tests, making him a great choice if you're aiming for a good grade.
He's a great guy. Really kind and enjoys his job. He talks a lot and can sometimes get off track, but is overall decent at explaining concepts. He gives out extensions on homework like it's Halloween candy, really understanding professor. Just study the concepts really hard to prepare for the exams
he is so nice my fav prof by far. i think ppl tend not to like him bc this course is really hard but its NOT his fault the midterm he made was EXACTLY like the homework and he gives extensions on the hw (one time i accidentally submitted a paper from the wrong class and he gave me 100). a bit of a yapper but obv wants the best for his students.
Pretty good prof. Explains concepts well. It's not his fault the course is hard and content heavy but he tries his best to teach us everything. Bit of a yapper but keeps the class engaged. Midterm was good, homework is easy and his TAs are helpful and understanding.
Aziz is the goat! Had him in ITM207 which is the hardest course of first year, but his slideshows and lectures really help you drill in the concepts. MAXIMIZE YOUR MARK BEFORE THE FINAL EXAM (50%) OR ELSE YOU'LL REGRET IT.
Best professor ever tbh! Had him for itm 107 and itm 207. Definitely recommend being with him!!!!
Very kind guy who teaches well, however don't get complacent in his class. The material is still relatively hard, so don't expect this to be some bird course. Do the homework, study well before exams.
I've had Dr. Aziz as my professor for ITM107 and ITM207 and have enjoyed and performed well in both courses. He summarizes the slides clearly (bit of a yapper but has good stories) and his tests clearly are exactly what he teaches (no tomfoolery!). Just stay on top of homework, utilize the TA, and study hard for the final. 10/10 recommend!!
amazing great
Amazing as a person and good as a professor. He explains the concepts but sometimes overexplains it when it's not needed. Take him because his labs and midterms are 10x easier than the other profs. You need to get maximum marks in this course before the final exam because the final exam is much harder. Aziz is perfect for this course.
Aziz is great. He is a kind, caring guy who teaches well. Do not listen to the people who say his class is "Easier" than other profs, because you're setting yourself up for failure. They're all essentially the same, Aziz is just a good teacher.
i didnt go to a single lecture and got a 92, its very easy to self study and prepare urself for midterm/final. there are ZERO surprises and i always found that the evaluations were much easier than the tutorials and lectures.
Love this prof. Very caring to students answered all questions I had stayed back after class. Super energetic and enthusiastic about what he teaches. Definitely recommend. The actual course is just the 3 maths from highschool mixed together. Every week theres a short assignment to finish. Cengage is helpful for practice questions before exams.
His lectures were kind of confusing but he is really helpful
