Funny, sings to you in class, great educator
Funny. Goes too quickly. Demanding. Hard course.
course hard but aziz makes class fun! he's got a great personality!
poor singing, but decent guy & he's fair, tries to be nice
Good teacher, cares for students.
entertaining...singing keeps students awake!
i heard he's one of the best for 293
Hilarious. Awesome singer! He makes it intersting.

THE BEST PROF EVER, MAKE SURE YOU BUY HIM APPLE PIE, CUZ HE JUST LOVES APPLE PIE, AND ALWAYS SING ALONG WITH HIM. :)..
Hilarious. I would choose Aziz over Jeff. His singing keeps me amazed for the whole term.
very good!
ok prof. interesting, very nice. sometimes explains things a little unclearly tho, maybe a bit fast?
bad bad bad singing
Very passinate teacher-one who really want student to learn-EXCELLENT. Makes exam that make you think-Excellent or bad. Extremely receptive to question-Excellent. Great teacher with great class note and funny class jokes/singing...
Good guy, keeps it interesting. Good, solid teacher.
no helpful at all in class and outside. very difficult exams. qucik lectures,so never takes questions. whats wrong with you all. he is a terrible teacher. lost all my interest in accounting.
he is nice and caring but not very helpful or easy to understand...he digresses too much...
Makes the class fun and interesting. Gives a good overview of what we need to know but tends to go a bit fast since there is so much material to cover. He does digress sometimes but only to make sure we don't get bored. Gotta love the singing.
Really nice guy, funny and entertaining, but his exam prep is deplorable. He should probably focus more on making sure the class is understanding the material.
Stop yelling!!!...Somebody please get him a mic!..his voice hurts my ears...nice guy..makes sure we are entertained in class...but doesn't make sure that we all really follow what he is saying...and what's the problem with giving us notes ahead of class&#
Avoid
loved it
a good prof
Great guy and great teacher!
He tends to go through the materials pretty quickly and doesn't make sure students are following. Poor exam prep. But he's not a hard marker, just write something down and u'll get marks for it. Entertaining prof overall.
He's tough but fair. If you study hard, you should be able to get at least 75.
Aziz is so passionate about teaching that he always tries his best to deliver the materials even when he is sick or in terrible pain (because of his back). It broke my heart the other day to see him in such pain. God Bless our beloved Aziz!
Abysmal. Yells out "guess what i'm thinking" questions and wont let up until someones filled in the blank he's thought up. Class is terrible, uninspired. Accounting isnt necessarily hard, but its tedious to no end and he doesnt do anything to help that, or anything else. Hell teach but only his way.
one of the worst profs at UBC and avoid this man at all costs. Aziz SUCKS, is terrible and yells all the time
Horrible teacher. Cannot communicate concepts. Does not prepare you for the exam. Class average on midterm was 52%. Everyone in class is a career change student so we all have university degrees. A 52 average can only mean bad teaching.Exams are IQ tests and he throws in concepts not taught yet
Can and should be replaced by a text book. I learned more from text book than him. He just stands there and talks at you very fast. Doesn't answer questions well in class. Students more confused after asking questions. Just had his final today. 56% was on 5% of course material.
Exams are difficult, but he marks generously, if he knows that you've put in some serious work over the entire semester. Always available to help, be it late in the evening or weekend, even gives you his home phone #. Go to his office hrs and you'll learn a lot more than just the course materials.
hes soo entertaining. good prof in general.
good guy
The UBC DAP program is just a cash grab by the Commerce department. They get instructors from Langara and industry with average teaching ability. Azis is just an average guy with a CA with an average understanding of Finance. This course will just teach you how to use a Business calculator.
Aziz is a very nice person and means well BUT he is not a good teacher and that could just be a relection of how poorly managed the Sauder School of Business is. This School is terrible. If you could attend another Business School you should do so at any cost!!!!!!!

i agree he is a kind person if you show effort and he wants you well, but he does not teach well. he doesn't understand the learning process.
Don't listen to those whiners who commented before me. They are fools. I got 85 in his class and I am stupid. Go to his office hours. Write the practice exams. Ask questions. Uni doesn't come with a babysitter.
yeah, don't listen to those whiners who expect a teacher to be competent. i'm a retard and i got 100 in his class.
Liked him when I took the class. Appreciate him even more now that I use his teachings on a daily basis for work!!
Aziz loves his "songs". He works very hard on his notes. I found the notes more useful than the text. Get another text. The exams in this course was insanely "long". Do all the practice exams you can, work hard on the problems. Ask questions if you don't understand, go see him in his office, the guy works insane hours, he totally accessible.
okay the course in itself is crazy hard, therefore the professor has got nothing to do with the easinessness. but Aziz tries his best to make his lectures less confusing and he genuinely cares about his students. i did poorly in the class but tht was all me. he cares for his students and uses humor to keep you up and alive. good guy.

I liked his lectures, I didn't do as well as I wanted to, but enjoyed the class never-the-less. Do what he recommends and you will be fine. His exams are fair, but looks out for the quirks that separates a 90% student from a 80%.
No need for textbooks...just go to Aziz's class. His notes are fantastic, covers everything that you need to know. He's an awesome prof who is willing to help students out at all times (even goes in on saturdays to host tutorials). This term, we have three saturday tutorials and he's one the hardest working profs that I have met.
Aziz is the best Prof I've ever had, HANDS DOWN! The guy has an amazing ability to energize the class and motivate his students. I found I finished his course with an excellent understanding of Finance. More importantly, Aziz will teach you that..."Persistence & Determination" are all you need to succeed in any situation! - His quote is on my wall!
ok class. just gotta study hard. but you do need the textbook.
I came to this page before I took the course and the low rating made me thought he was bad. To my surprise he is actually a great prof! Very detailed and orgnanized notes which totally save us time reading the textbook! Very energetic and cheerful (despite his weird habit of singing in class) He is one of the best profs I have met.
Good prof. his notes are very good and he is clear on the concepts. However, the test is insanely long and kinda hard, if your a slow test taker watch out for the time because you might not get to a question by the end of the exam.
midterm super hard. final easy. either way- would average out. he gives inclass notes and i find that a waste of time repeating a concept over and over again. for studying the exams gotta read his notes very carefully, which is bruttally long.
294 with Aziz is entertaining. Be prepared to sing/be random in class or he won't move on. Exams are long but actually doable if you had an extra half hour or so to sit there and think everything through, but unfortunately, you don't. Don't try combining the textbook and his notes (stick with the notes).
Aziz was awesome. Only teacher that has managed to keep me awake for an 8:30am class. Very entertaining, likes to crack jokes and sing randomly. Notes are detailed and extremely helpful - I barely used the textbook! One bad thing is that he started taking attendance in class and was really strict (would compare # of signatures to # of students)
He's really funny when he's teaching. I took his Comm293 in the summer and he was a great prof. His notes are clear and understanding the notes actually is enough for the test!!
Fiddy-cent is his hero. Great prof. Follow the notes, you'll do great. Enjoy the show in class...he's a man of half decent jokes!
I hated this guy while I had him. I didn't find his jokes funny, more just a waste of time. However, how that I've had other accounting profs, this guy explains everything thoroughly and clearly. Really gets you to understand the material. I will take him again.
Great teacher, do your HW and the practice exams and you can get an A easily. Great notes, good assignments...all around perfect class
If you want to to lose all your motivation in becoming an accountant then choose this instructor. Just plain horrible, he uses his own notes, and fills in the empty blanks on the handout, students have no clue what he is talking about after the 2nd class and occasionally sings out a 50 cent tune to ease the frustration students have with him
I would not be surprised if he rates himself on this site. I had him at BCIT and I would just say good luck. Luckily I got a C out of this guy but I hated his teaching style, just plain lousy and unmotivating Anything good about him; He has a dry humour and is a total waste of time.
Although he doen't have the best humor in the world, he gets the students really energized abut finance. His notes were really helpful!!
He was much better than my 293 prof. I got a C- on my midterm but managed to get a B+ in the end.Just try to read the textbook(& his notes if you can).I read the textbook & did the assigned questions 3-4 times which were really helpful. Common midterm/final exam between diff sections
Don't sit right in front of him, otherwise your ears will hurt. The material was pretty clear to me while I read the textbook, but his notes made me confused again. Sometimes, he was moody and intimidating. However, I think he is not a bad instructor overall, believe me, I had profs who are waaay worse than he is.
really really did not like aziz
Challenging exams do prepare you well for accounting but not when the difficulty is significantly higher than any problem sets you do in class or assignments. Also, he gets angry any time you ask a question in class. I've had bad instructors before, but I never have I seen such an unmotivated class (and we're university students not teenagers).
funny guy with not-so funny jokes haha. enjoyed his class very much. sometimes very mean but is really a nice guy who cares for his students. very passionate and is dedicated. his notes and assignemtns are all u need. the materials will get challenging if you don't work hard.
Despises his students, but remorses by being apologetic. Doesn't treat students with respect; told a student to "go back to 293." Appears friendly on the pulpit, but EXTREMELY grumpy during office hours. Exams much harder than anything ever discussed in class. Becomes very defensive when being approached about his mistakes. Admits being a bad prof.
Administration should really sit in his class and go through even one of his lectures which are absolutely garbage, he rail roads through the material without much explanation and his lectures are non interesting as all his material is type and fill in the blanks. I am surprised that someone actually gives him any rating, honestly he is the worst
IMO, he is one of the best prof in the DAP program. I don't get why there are so many negative comment about Aziz. His exam is not easy, but fair.. All the materials are based on his lecture notes. Without reading the textbook, you can easily get a B for the course. Guys, if you think Aziz is bad, take Grant Lee for tax! Feel sorry for Aziz:(
His jokes are not too bad, if you understand them. I enjoy his talks/bashings about politics. His notes are excellent, bar none, and are worth the $30. However, his utter lack of respect for students is unacceptable. I've taken some really hard courses, including Grant Lee's 355. But Aziz's exams are unpredictably difficult. His 370 was brutal
Good notes and assignments but students were not properly prepared for the brutally difficult exam. Does not respect his students and is usually quite mean and rude.
I would describe his teaching style as 'skimming through the notes outloud'. It would be more efficient to not have a lecture, post complete notes on webct, and leave us to read them on our own. Also, regarding his habit of making the exams much harder than the class material, it is really unfair to students.
If you put in some effort you will get a B- at the very least. Mind you, there are tons of past assignments out there and Aziz has been using the exact same assignments for the past few years. Get the past assignments from someone who has taken the course if you want to ace the assignments. Also, he's the only prof for 370, so you cannot avoid him.
He loves to throw malicious curve balls to the midterm. Extremely long and brutal. Prepare to read and be able to digest his questions - some of them are over a page in lenght and he expects you to use the info to solve the problems during a super stressful midterm
I had Aziz for BUSI 293/294/370 last term. I'm glad that I had those 3 courses with Aziz. Though I didn't learn by going to classes, his notes were the best! I didn't need to read the textbook at all (so if you have Aziz, don't even bother buying the text). Assignments and exams may be tricky, but he's a fair marker.
I have found Aziz to be the toughest instructor I've had in DAP although I hear Grant Lee is worse. You have to give him credit for making the best notes in the world. No joke! However, that doesn't take away the fact that he gets very angry when you ask questions. I got a strong feeling that he plays favorites. Exams are the trickiest I've seen.
Had him for 293, 294, 370. His notes are excellent (don't bother buying the textbooks). I don't understand all the negative reviews -- his exams are difficult, but you will come out of his class knowing the material...
I am guessing that the person who wrote the comment below either was a favorite student or is Aziz himself. In his defense, he does use very good notes. I suppose they are not necessarily his, from another comment. Aziz isn't exactly someone most people would be comfortable talking too...I've seen worse. IfAziz was nicer he'd make a good instructor
Atrocious-there is no other way to describe this pathetic excuse of a professor. Aziz single-handedly proves that ALL professors should be forced to LEARN HOW TO TEACH. Exams are awful-way harder than what you learn or practice. He incessantly makes ridiculous and non-amusing "jokes" & perpetually sings. Avoid at all costs! Pff & I got an A-!!!
Not a good instructor. Exams are very tricky, but you'll be fine if you study hard, practice, and understand the concepts! Exams are way too long, which make them stressful! You really need more time to think. His notes are very good, but pre-read, or you'll be lost! As a person, he's not that nice...
I am almost done DAP and Aziz is the second worse instructor I've had. Do not approach him in his office hours and never bother to ask a question unless you want to be embarassed by him in front of others. Textbook was useless. The only students I know who like him are those who were his favourites. A bit of an ego problem.
Very clear expectations, solid introductory accounting education. Difficult exams.
Great Acct prof. Clear expectations, those who listen, pay attention, and do the work will succeed with above average results. He has high expectations from his students so be prepared for class and meetings as he doesn?t like having his time wasted - don't be surprised if the whole class gets a dressing down if he feels that it is behaving below i
Great Acct prof. Clear expectations, those who listen, pay attention, and do the work will succeed with positive results. Has high expectations from students so be prepared as he doesn?t like having his time wasted-don't be surprised if the whole class gets a dressing down if he feels that it is behaving below its potential!
Very good accounting and finance prof - if you go to every class and understand key concepts in his notes you will be just fine. Didn't really like his teaching style at first but appreciated it later.
This is a very bad prof, never choose his class. He will never help you in office hour, and he is singing in class. Very weried and smug prof. He is worsest prof in university I have ever had. He do not even know how to teach finance class since he is from accounting. I hope will not teach finance class any more which makes us feel bad about him.
very annoying prof. Agree with the previous post. He does not have any finance backgound, and therefore, he is not very knowledgeable. (hardly answered any questions about the stock market.) pained me listening to his singing in class.
Terrible prof. Talks about himself going to the Britney Spears concert over and over again. Extremely unhelpful. Tells the class to answer questions and when nobody could, because nobody understood the material, then gets mad and yells at the class.
pathetic excuse for a professor. doesn't care about his students. voice sounds like a train running over a rhino. doesnt help students. thinks hes the funniest guy on earth when reality noones laughing at his stupid JOKES
Average at best. Pretty annoying. Great note packages, but awful at explaining them. Get into Patti Mallia's class if you can!
He's only good for his notes and his humour..the only reason why people ever show up to class. OOPS I DID IT AGAIN...
By far, the worst prof I've ever had.
he says on the first day that it's up to you to get a good mark, and you'll get out what you put in. Well, he's no exception to his own rule. He flies through his notes, sings, and is pretty apathetic in his overall teaching. That's what he put in, and what he's got out is no-one thinking he's a good teacher.
Avoid this guy for your own good. He's a smart guy and he's on the Team 1040 talking about sports finance, but he's horrible at teaching a course that has so many numbers! People thinks his notes are good, but they're really difficult to study from because it goes on and on and nothing's really condensed. He's rude to his students as well.
Worst prof i've had so far at ubc. He does not understanding how to teach. Does not like it when students ask him questions. If you take one of his classes you might as well just study right from the textbook. His notes are not useful
His lecture works for me, epecially the notes. I had borrowed his note from a friend when I took other prof's 294, very helpful.
Not a very helpful teacher. He sings, flys through his notes..
Horrible prof, horrible lectures. He does not understand the learning process at all. He tries to be funny and sings in class, but I learned close to nothing from him.
Considering he's the only prof teaching BUSI 370, you'll have to go through him if you're a DAP student! His notes are pretty good and while I don't exactly like his method of lecturing, he's not that bad.
Most posted comments portray Aziz either best or useless. In my experience so far, he is a very good instructor. He knows his stuff well and communicates really well both verbally and through excellent notes. As to the pace, yes, its a bit hurried, but can't blame him for that, since the volume of course material packed in a single term is a lot.
Flies through his notes; no time to understand/digest material. Exams are tricky and long, notes and textbook get you effing nowhere, so do as many practice mt/finals as you can! Sings and cracks the LAMEST jokes in class, which is NEVER helpful. As a person, can be unreasonable. If you have him, I wish you well.
Notes packages are really good! I only went to class to fill them in, they are super helpful for midterms and finals. Did not use the textbook at all.
Excellent notes. Recommend.
comm 294 was either taught by aziz or robert, and i sat through both classes. although aziz is a bad prof, his notes make him a bit better than the other prof, not a lot though. to be honest, his jokes and singing are annoying but aren't significant in my judging in his teaching
I'm already writing this and the semester hasn't even ended...I have taken 4 yrs of post secondary education and haven't seen a prof like this...he's one of a kind...his voice is soooooo DRY lol...i mean i have to sit thru 2 hrs of his class twice a week...and to make things worse he jokes and sings with his dry voice...
jokes not funny and very boring
Aziz is an alright prof...he tries very hard to put the theory into laments terms for people, but sometimes uses the same example over and over again which sometimes doesn't help with harder problems. his notes are great, but definitely helps to be in class to understand them. midterm was way easier than the final...but then the final was curved
midterms are based on the material he teaches in class. redo the assignments and reread the notes carefully to do well in the midterm exam.
Horrible prof, annoying as hell and loves to make weird sounds during class, sings and stays till the very last minute of class. Perhaps instead of wasting time asking students rhetorical questions he could let us out a bit earlier! He encourages questions but makes you answer your own question so why bother.
For a prof that teaches the course so often he teaches with enthusiasm. Notes are good but you should also work through the textbook examples. His jokes arn't that flavorful and felt embarrassed for him at times but at least he tries. Exams were very fair. Like many courses the effort you put in is what you'll get back.
I really enjoyed his class and i could stand his jokes (so can you). Do take his class and do not be scared to ask him questions. He may say, refer to notes, that is because his notes explain it all. but go again he surely will understand that it needs clarification. His exams are surely tricky. I really enjoyed him as my proff
He is very intimidating and makes the class feel awkward. Just laugh at his jokes or else the course will get a lot worse. Did not use the textbook once and got well above the average, which was 70. The first chapter can be really confusing, so go to the Sunday tutorial. Keep practising the assignments and read the notes carefully.
Pros: his notes is really good. You can just self-study the notes to get through the exam. Cons: He is not very professional. I don't mind his singing and joking in class. But I found out he is every annoying. He has no patientce in answering questions to students (I personally never asked his questions, but I saw him answering others' questions).
Im glad its done. Out of a 3 hr lecture he will waste 20-30 mins stupid jokes and off topic nonsense. He might have well been teaching Japanese during lecture, you dont learn anything. His notes are what get you through the class with a decent grade. His exams are insanely hard, so know the concepts! you wont get similar practice questions.
I have no idea why UBC will have this bad quality teaching prof. Totally waste students' time on stupid jokes. Exam is unreasonablly hard and he may not work it out by himself. If same time been given. Strongly not recommond! waste time and tuition!
He is the best professor I meet so far in UBC DAP. He knows how to teach and knows knowledge very well. He tries his best to help students. Give sample and enough hints to mid-term exam. The best thing I found is that he really care his jobs and care our students also.
one of the best teachers in dap. he is very good. he loves his job, can devote his time and energy to the student. dont be fooled by those negetive reviews. they just expect to get score but dont want to learn
Let me explain to you that anyone who has a negative or bad review of Aziz either has no sense of humour,is just a spiteful student or is over-sensitive. His notes are amazingly thorough and he takes a great deal of EFFECTIVE time trying to explain their meaning. Finance is not the easiest thing to grasp so utilize his notes! Trust me he cares.
Excellent teacher. I liked his teaching style. Besides his jokes, he knows what he is talking about. His examples and explanations are clear. His notes are THE BEST. Follow the notes step-by-step, do the examples and do the homework. You will get a good grade. The midterm and the final weren’t “easy” but they were “fair”.
Had Aziz for 370 and 293 in the same term. He's a little hardcore in terms of the amount of information he gives out - but his classes set me up strong for everything else in the DAP program. Highly recommend him. His notes kick ass, and his tests are predictable. Really grateful I had him as a prof.
Great notes. He gives out a lot of information during class and his midterm is fair but the final is a disaster. The final you really need to know your stuff for. The final isn't written by Aziz, it is a shared document with the other prof that teaches 293. Be ready for more difficult questions than on the midterm.
Extremely rude when you go ask him for help. Argues with students in class. If he was in the corporate world, he'd be a huge HR problem - which is why he's teaching. One of the rudest professors I've had in my years at UBC.
Aziz knows his stuff, unfortunately, he does not like students who don't. Never ask questions in his class unless you want him to hate you forever. His notes and lectures are very clear. Don't buy the textbook as you will not use it at all. Do it his way or fail. The midterm and final were challenging. Class Average was 74%. Good luck...
I took his introductory accounting and finance class and I have to say that he was at first a bit intimidating, but after you talk with him he turns out to be a good person. He will help you out if you seek it. Do not take his personality in a bad way. He is actually good from inside. And he does have extra review sessions, the only person to do it
Condescending. This man is just ready to rip you apart if you ask him a question that he thinks it is easy in front of everyone in class. Do not ask him a question unless you cannot read what he is writing or what he said during his lectures
I never saw a professor kick his guest student out in his class!! Someone just wanted to listen to the lecture despite never registered in this class. Very unkind and unhelpful.
the work load was very heavy in the summer term, you will expect quizzes and assignments due almost every other day. He doesn't know how to teach , but he has prepared AWESOME NOTES. you can pretty much skip the whole term. Class average was 70% in summer term.
Didn't really read the textbook - only skimmed through it to look for answers to online chapter quizzes or to look at assigned homework questions. His fill-in-the-blank notes were clear and easy to understand. He explains things too quickly in class but you can just read the notes yourself to understand.
Aziz really just summarizes material and then does a bunch of examples in class. He does not write the final and therefore it is not at all like the practice tests that he gives you. Think that it was scaled though as I believe I bombed it and still got an A. If you like to ask questions, avoid him as he is sarcastic and not at all helpful.
Worst prof I've had at UBC. Notes are weird messes of annoying formatting, lectures are stretched out because of his odd concept of value (which he wastes time lecturing on), and the tests are really hard. I would definitely try to take this class with a different prof if I had to do it again. I did not appreciate his attitude at all.
A lot of his lectures seem to be dedicated to stuff he doesn't test you on. And a lot of what he tests you on isn't covered in class very clearly. He doesn't go over his assignments in class. His lectures cover a huge amount of info so he doesn't spend much time on each part. You get behind you're done.
Not recommended.
I have adjusted my path through DAP to avoid being in his class ever again. Has no understanding that the students are the reason that he actually gets paid. Materials that you cover in class and on assignments do NOT prepare you for the ridiculous curve-balls you get on exams. How does he keep his job?! Are there no deppt. performance reviews?!
I don't understand why you guys could be so mean to Aziz. I took BUSI 293 and BUSI 370 with him in 2016, he is the greatest and most respectable teacher I've ever met since undergra studies. His notes are really really well prepared and couldn't be clearer. If you really study and review after class, at least you can get an A or A-. I like him!
BUSI 370 is not an easy course. It requires revision of notes number of times. His notes are good. There are review sessions also. Practice mid-term and practice final exams help to excel in course.
All the comments here scared me before I took his class, but I was running out of choices. He's actually the most responsible prof by far I encountered in DAP. Holding review sessions every week, and the lecture notes are super helpful too.
Aziz's Notes are the best in DAP program, Finance being a very technical course requires lot of practice before exam. That's the best way to nail the exams. The topics might seem scary & difficult at first, but they are actually not difficult at all. Read ahead of class to get a broad idea, so that you don't feel lost in class. Practice a lot!
I think he is ok, the notes are somewhat well written. Exams are fair, and he made the assignments quite easy. Exams are not hard but u really gotta study for it. If u can, read the textbook a little also, he doesnt go through 100% of whats required for exam, or rather, it might be helpful of u read the textbook too to get a better understanding
Worst accounting lecturer I've ever met. He likes complicate simple accounting concepts. Not willing to answer your email questions or answered them unclearly. Not detail-minded, not well prepared and full of errors and duplications in his notes. Always mixed up the accounting knowledge with finance. Simply incompetent to teach accounting!
Very loud lecturer. Not helpful to answering your questions. He makes you feel extremely stupid. Sounds condescending. Notes are decent but repetitive and weird format. Homework and exam questions are fair. Homework is definitely easier than exam. Don't bother with buying textbook. Simply understanding notes and homework questions are enough.
I was scared to take his class after reading some of these ratings but Aziz is hilarious and knows his stuff. Lots of anecdotal stories and prepares you well for the exams in terms of what kind of questions might be asked. To be fair, Im not in the DAP program, but I really enjoyed his class despite the dry material.
Most Lectures were not helpful, some assignment questions were not clearly and Aziz did not solve the puzzle clearly either. Grading assignments and exams should be within a reasonable time-frame, instead, the mid-term result was not ready until a month later. The practice final exam was not available before the final exam. Please avoid him.
Simply, the worse professor at UBC. So unprofessional, unprepared, very loud, and boring. He covers too many materials within 3 hrs with a repetitive explanation. Midterms and final are solid hard. Quizzes are easier but worth only 10%. Don't say, I haven't worn you, Aziz is a horrible professor. The best part though are his lecture notes.
Super disorganized! I cannot understand why he came up his own sequencing of the course content. The whole term was like starting a new chapter in the middle of a lecture, then end it at 3/4 of the next. Too much final material came before midterm. repetitive notes without any clue. It would be much more clear if you follow a textbook.
Aziz's exams are pretty difficult though he gives part marks for incorrect answers. His lecture notes are all you need for his class though his handwriting is ridiculously difficult to read at times. Overall not much good or bad to say about him.
Aziz means well. He can be funny sometimes. If you are taking this online it is still structured as an in class type lecture. His notes packages will have you printing 100's of pages. If you use his annotated notes his writing is terrible and he circles everything. The material on the notes is good, just structured very bad. I would avoid.
Okay he's not as bad as most people on here would lead you to believe, but, he still got his quirks. Aziz is really funny and his notes are actually really good but his constant screaming sucks. Also he's really bad at answering questions. Ive seen him actually yell at people about "how they should already know XYZ concept" when they ask
Prof Aziz class notes are not organized. Everything he thinks is importance so he underlined almost everything which gives us difficult to distinguish which information is more valuable to ourselves. He is very difficult to access outside of class. He never call you to answer your questions and it takes him at least 2 days to respond your email.
Pros: Funny and clearly cares about his students. Very detailed notes. Cons: Can be rude, his notes are difficult to read due to a lack of whitespace, and his lectures are really tough to sit through (but you don't need to attend to do well). Overall, Aziz is an okay prof but I would take 293 with someone else if possible.
I think Aziz is a caring professor, even from the first class he gave us some important principles in studying. He went out of his way to add weekend reviews, which was helpful. I built a good foundation for finance through his teaching. Thanks.
Aziz is a good guy who means well and really knows his stuff but unfortunately he has very poor communication skills which is likely why he gets such bad reviews. When asked questions he often gets defensive and combative to the point of getting into shouting matches with students. Notes are great, tests are a lot different from notes/assignments.
Well, I can say for sure that Aziz is the most awful teacher I had in my life. The guy speaks like a Cacatua, really his voice is so loud that almost exploded my ear drums. I have constant headaches in his classes. Also, don't you dare ask a question, because you will release the Kraken in the class with him standing and shouting like a ... Cacatua
Terrible teacher, not approachable, avoid at all costs. His notes are the worst, he complicates everything. He is rude, loud and a terrible teacher. Colleges and universities that have him as a teacher should be ashamed of themselves for having such an incompetent teacher. It is really a shame that students need to have class with this bulling...
Not reachable, you wont be able to find him to ask anything about the course. exams are difficult. Talks too loud. Wont recommend, avoid at any cost!
Aziz's exams are based on his horribly written lecture notes, there's no need to purchase the textbook. Attendance is mandatory yet a waste of time because he explains the concepts horribly. He takes several days to reply to you via email and does not seem to care about his students. For future students, I would suggest another professor.
Aziz appears to be a well intentioned person however for a subject that requires things to be explained clearly and carefully he may not be the best option . He can come across as abrasive meaning students often find him unapproachable . He is reliant on his own notes which are very unorganized . Expect to be wed to your textbook.
Professor Rajwani is well-intentioned and quite funny at times, but has a couple major downfalls. First, he is not a great communicator - he get's defensive when you ask questions or for clarification, and this comes across as very unapproachable. Otherwise he is very knowledgeable but his abrasiveness is a big downfall.
Avoid him. Take courses to other colleges than to take with Aziz.
It is definitely a difficult class that I would avoid if I could have taken it again. He is a nice guy and can be funny but makes his classes hard.
His teaching style is rather disorganized and outdated. I cannot recommend him to most students who want to learn and earn a good grade.
Disorganized professor who uses not the most legible handwritten notes. Concepts could perhaps be explained more concisely. Takes weeks to return assignment and midterm grades. Talks loud to the point it could be considered borderline yelling. Also has a tendency to belittle those who ask questions in class. Possibly the worst prof I've ever had.
Did not enjoy
Not the best prof honestly. If you are trying to major in finance or trying to transfer into sauder with taking Finance. DONT DO IT. You will not succeed in his class. His teaching sucks and his exams are brutal. Avoid him at all cost
Aziz has a direct teaching style, but his well-organized notes and funny moments make the class engaging. The textbook is a must-have, and unstuck study can be a handy study tool alongside the course materials.
He sounds like he's yelling and it gets to the point where it's very hard to understand what he's saying. I had a headache every class. Too top it off, he says that the attendance is mandatory and he will not let you write the exam if you don't attend at least 80% of the classes. he knows his stuff, but he does a poor job of actually teaching it.
I have already taken six courses in the DAP program, and for me, he is one of the best instructors so far. He is very motivating and really pushes students to study hard. I also liked his teaching style, he speaks loudly and energetically, which helped me stay focused on the lectures.
