Good teacher, but tests are difficult.
Tests are Hard, lectures are poor
Teaches well, although grades very strict on exams.
I love you Bensalem
I had this professor for chem 3 and 4. Besides being a great professor, he is a great guy outside of class. His lectures are interesting and fun, his tests are challenging. He is also the chairman of the department. THE BEST IN THE DEPARTMENT!!!!!!!!!!

He is a very good professor. He is always there to help you with the work.
Very hard professor! Lectures are understandable but tests are very difficult.
He is the worst Chemistry professor at LIU. Favors only his own kind. Not a fair grader.
He's mad cool in class and he explains everything so well, but then on the tests, he suddenly becomes hard as hell. Study the chapter review questions. He's nice, but mood swings quickly to a very sarcastic man. he has his favorites.
Well the guy is good, I must say the lecture is good and his clarity is outstanding. As for the tests you really need to know what is going on, not compared to Danahue-who is still teaching but lacks the original manner. In short take Bensalem!!
Tests are tooo hard!!! Stingy on the partial credit too!

if you want to learn chemistry, take him. he is so nice and helpful with his students. i never met a professor who teach the way he teach.he has a perfect way in conveying the idea to his students. some of his tests are challenging, but still he curve your grade. take him, he is a great professor.

Great with explaining chemical concepts. Don't make mistakes on his tests, he'll take off a lot of points for stupid mistakes. I got a couple of 60s when I had one stupid mistake on his test. I should've gotten a A for his class if I didn't make those stupid mistakes. Review old tests.
tests are tooo difficult lectures are very clear and you think your going to get an A until you get the ridiculously hard test
First of all.. i dont know how anyone can think hes great...hes only nice to people he likes..he is soo mean and blunt..won't help a fly..hes a really hard grader..if he was soo good why does half his class end up droping or why does he have to curve 30 points at the end if hes soo good.
Pros: If you go to his office he very helpful, extremly clear spoken, optimistic attitude, very smart. Cons: His lectures go very fast, review doesnt help, you have to know what you are doing on his tests. If you compare him to other Gen. Chem. teachers hes overall the best.
TESTS ARE HARD
best prof. ever. sometimes gets mean...but still amaz. lol sharks
He is very clear in his lectures. His tests are hard but he is a very fair grader. He always wants to help his students to succeed.
EXCELLENT PROFESSOR, RESPECTS HIS STUDENTS, VERY CLEAR LECTURES, TESTS ARE FAIR. HIGHLY RECCOMMENDED
he sucks azzzzzzzzz horrible but a nice man no doubt
He is a very nice person. you just need to study, no free grades, but he helps alot if you are concerned, he is cheerfull and a fair grader. you will do good if you study what he review
very bad
His tests are really hard but he is a good teacher and a def nice person. If you tudy what he gives you in class you should do fine.
tests are hard- have study a lot.Lectures are very clear and the reviews are helpful for the tests. At the end he gives a very fair grade if u do well on the final u can still get a decent grade.
If you suck at chem...DO NOT TAKE HIM! Nice guy but tough!
Dr Bensalem is a very good and interesting profesor.
Why people are saying that his tests are hard? no, they are not. He gives a good reviews, and problems on the exams are similar. he is very clear on lectures and very helpful. I highly recommend him
Bensalem meri jaan hain.

He's a very hard professor. Only gives 4-5 problems at most for his exams, covering 2 chapters; quite unfair because 2 chapters covers more than those problems. He gives reviews but in his tests it's harder. If you take him, the textbook and the chapter problems are your bible. Do his problems, review the review & notes to do well.
Do not take Dr. Bensalem for Chem. Although he gives good lectures, his exams are extremely hard. Plus, he lets u know if you are failing his class. Don't waste your time on this guy. He will make your life hard.
he is the best teacher in all of the departement.
I learned so much from him, he is amazing. He told me everything from a to z. I was a FAILING STUDENT!!! now i am head of the U.S. department of Chemistry!!!
He is the Best!!!! he is amazing.! Take his class and u will succeed!!
i loveeeee you!!!!
his lecture notes are very important and clear. make sure to attend his lectures and make sure you get evrything down. i failed two exams and i missed one exam but i did reall good on his finals and passed with a C. awesome.
Dr. Bensalem is the best professor for chemistry hands down. he is charismatic and charming, so you naturally pay attention to his lectures. notes and reviews are important, his tests come straight from the review. he is just the nicest guy, i have the utmost respect for him.
Dr. Bensalem is the best teach at LIU. He is funny, endearing, and extremely intelligent... i was just enamored with him, watching him teach. If you go to class, and take good notes, you will do fine in his class. I absolutely love him, he is the greatest.
The best!
prof. bensalem is such a nice, down to earth guy. his lectures are taught well and he answers any questions you have but makes you think. his tests aren't easy, but their not impossible either. i had trouble in the beginning and i just went to his office hours to speak to him and he helped me. He's easy to to talk to and really helpful. got an A-!
Great Professor! Very clear and thought out lectures. I learned the most from him, he's undoubtedly the best chem professor. Test questions are a not exactly from the textbook, but a variation on the ones he goes over.
doesnt mind failing the whole class of 50 students. class average was 25 on first exam, 50 on next exam...
LIU is known for employing crap-ass teachers, and I've probably had most of them. BUT Dr.Bensalem is THE best teacher at LIU. His lectures are crystal clear, tests are fair-goes over the problems. He is funny, articulate and overall a wonderful teacher and a wonderful man. i think the world of him. if you take him for chem4 consider yourself LUCKY!
Dr. Bensalem is such an amazing teacher. I took him in the summer for chem 4 and i can truly say that he is the best chemistry teacher hands down. Additionally, he is a really kind person who is willing to go over anything you don't understand and exams are straight from the review. Highly reccomended!!!
Dr. Bensalem is the most amazing professor! He is very helpful and understandable. The best science professor I've had so far. & willing to give a recomendation.
The best professor. he is very helpful. In order to prapare for his tests, you need to practice his review questions. He does them last day before the test. Those questions are on the tests only in dif ways put. Best one ever.
He teaches excellently and hes probably the only Chem4 prof who gives you clear notes, but yes his exams r tricky! Like some1 said below only 5 quest and the second test is very hard! Our class average was horrible for that test. U might be lucky and he myt give exams from the book, if not then u myt get screwed over! Hes good, but xams are tough!
Bensalem's awesome. His lectures are so clear and helpful it's ridiculous. The second test's harder than the others but it's the acid/base test (hardest 2 chapters of the course). BUT, the last 3 tests were HW problems out of the book so that made up for the first 2 tricky tests. It's not very hard to get an A and + he's just a good guy all around.
One of the most over rated, over hyped professors ever. His 5 question exams are very intense and tricky. I was so excited to take him believing his lectures were so crystal clear, but in reality it wasn't. On numerous occasions he has rushed and plowed through chapters which he still includes on exams. BE CAREFUL, HIGHLY OVERRATED
Overrated. He's a nice guy, but that's not going to get you a good grade. There always seemed to be issues with his availability for tutoring and I found it rude that he didn't even put a sign up on his door or say anything when he couldn't make it. The tests are only 5 questions making one mistake very costly. I got an A, but with aggravation
Definitely an overrated professor. He is a good teacher but at times I felt that he was rushing. Test are only 5 questions and are very very difficult.
he's a sweetheart<3 for those of u that suck at chem, u shoukd take his class and tell him u have a problem and he will be very considerate.. u wont get an A but hell hook u up lol
I agree with everyone that said he is overrated. It is very true, he's not EXTREMELY difficult but you will have to study on your own, read the textbook, and work hard if you want that A. I recommend taking Donehue. He's much better, I didn't even need to open the text book for Donehue, he is straightforward and to the point.
Wonderful Professor...very sweet and understanding, he sometimes gives extra credit that goes towards ur test grades, even though his tests are very short (4-10) questions, if u read your notes and go over the questions in the book, you will have no problem acing the test
Honestly, great professor. Explains everything with great detail and always there to help. His tests are easy and gives extra credit time to time. Way more easier than Donahue's Chem 4 class.
Tests are harder than average, but good prof.
Easy A in the summer. He knows chemistry very well and also teachs very well. spend 3,400 dollars in his class is definitly worthwhile...lol
Excellent professor. Good personality and the tests aren't too bad, just a bit tricky (not enough to not take him!). Very clear and blunt with his notes and is extremely helpful. If LIU's horrible professors have discouraged you, he'll give you a little bit of hope.
really good chem professor. take him.
There is just too much to say about this remarkable teacher/man/friend/mentor/and comrade. I could go on forever and ever...in face i wish his class went on forever and ever...alas it did not...but he's 4eva in my <3.
in the beginning I had a small crush on him because his teaching was like none I'd seen before....then i realized he had a family :( still love the guy though.
Well he is a nice professor and everything but his tests are very very hard it's even harder than the book the review won,t help so much the final is easy though but all his class test are hard !
He has very hard tests but if he likes your class he will curve your class and give you easier tests. Very helpful as a professor though. Best in LIU in Chem department in my opinion.
He is the best chem teacher at liu.don't listen to others about how hard he is if you understand the material and practice problems from the textbook you will be fine.
The best chemistry professor. You will actually learn in his class. His exams are hard but with the amount of studying and good teaching, you will make it through.
He is very good at teaching the subject His test are very hard. He gives only 5 questions and his in class reviews doesn't help much because his questions on exams are much harder than his review questions.
One of the most helpful Chemistry professors in LIU. The class itself its pretty hard because Chemistry is not an essay class but if you do the review and study from the textbook you will get a good grade
OVERRATED. TESTS ARE SUPER HARD. half of my class failed >:(
he teaches great lessons but his tests are hard. he does give a review before each test except the final, but its totally different from the actual test.
Run away from this professor Very hard and bad !!!!!! He will kill ur gpa half of the class failed !!! Take someone else!! Waste of money and time
BEST PROF. EVER!!! HIS EXAMS MAY BE HARD BUT HIS REVIEW HELPS ALOT. TO BE HONEST HIS TEST QUESTIONS COME FROM THE BOOK
He is a very helpful and clear and coherent professor. His tests are extremely hard especially for Chem 4. but if you study his review and do the syllabus questions you will get a good grade.
So I took Professor Bensalem for chemistry 3 and 4 for my freshmen year! It was a success! I wish he was an orgo professor, I would be ecstatic! He IS NOT EASY! His tests are hard, chemistry is hard, he is a great teacher but it needs studying TOO & practice problems from textbook! STUDY HARD and you will do well in his class!
I took him for both sections chem 3, 4 . I just love this guy. He is the best
Good at teaching the material, but gives very difficult exams.
This prof trys to act like a real good professor by making you work for 3 hours a night. Homework every day for 3 hours tests have no review. Feel sorry for your time. To Much WORK Homework all the time!HaRD PROF B- for so much work
He is a great professor. He looks out for his students and he teaches the material very well. Chemistry is not an easy course, his test aren't easy either. If you do the work you should be fine
He's a really good professor and explains really well. You just need to practice from the book and read the chapters cuz its generally hard. You have 5 regular tests and a final but he drops the lowest test grade so just busy your ass to pass
BEST EVER, EXPLAINS VERY THROUGHLY AND IS VERY GIVES A REVIEW BEFORE EXAM, THE EXAM WITH BE THE SAME "TYPE" OF QUESTIONS BUT C=VERY SIMILAR.DROPS LOWEST TEST GRADE BUT DOES NOT GIVE RETAKES
i took him my freshman yr for both chem 3 & chem 4. honestly don't look at his ratings above. he is MUCH BETTER than that he is probably the ONLY GOOD chem prof. if you want to learn chemistry AND get good grades, take him. he cares so much for his students his exams are exactly like the review but slightly harder. TAKE HIM!! I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH
Prof. Bensalem is the best chem professor is very clear and precise... His reviews are the most helpful, because everything on review will come on the test...his tests are def. more tougher then reviews... You need a 90 for A, and everything is separated by a 5 pt margin with A-,B+,etc... You will learn alot!! 5 exams, one dropped, final, and lab
Chemistry is difficult. Plain and simple. Dr.Bensalem is a very great teacher however, he'll work with you and try his best to get the information across to you, but at the end of the day, it'll take lots of studying and lots of practice to do well in this class. His tests are hard but I'd rather take my chances with him rather than some of these other professors.
Worst professor and class ever seen.his exams are so hard. Don,t take him
he sucks idk why everyone says he's good. he goes over the material way too fast and doesnt explain it and just expects us to know it
He goes fast. But teaches well! So whether you do well or not depends on how serious you are about your grades! If you do your work n study the material, then you'll do well!
I saw his ratings at first and took his class. HE IS NOTHING LIKE ALL THE 5 STAR RATINGS. i think hes way to fast. wen he does review, u think the test is easy. the actual test is like 100 times harder. u need to study hard for him to do good. i know its not impossible to get an A in that class if u r a type of student study all day.
His exams are so hard and I would never take him again
He was awesome!! Clear explanations. He gives a review before each test and he just changes the numbers. Great Prof.
His tests are based on his reviews. You definitely have to read the textbook on your own time and do practice problems. Got an A.
Chemistry is Hard. Bensalem is a very dedicated professor. He is very helpful if you come to him and ask questions. Dont just sit in lectures and expect to do well. Bensalem gives hard test but if you prepare then its not hard at all. I highly recommend him. But you need to also put your effort. he is the best chem prof. if you want to learn.
he is a goood Prof. and his tests are very easy. they are from the review.
Good explanations hard class. Take Donahue you wont regret it!!!! MUCH EASIER
Excellent!!!!! Went from D to B- and with the curves got B WORTHIT
If you want to learn chemistry, then take him!!!!! he will teach you as long as youre willing to learn. you do need to put your effort but at the end, you will understand Chemistry.
Dr. Bensalem is the best chemistry professor LIU has. I took him for both CHM 3 & 4. He explains the material well, though at times goes too fast. Honestly his exams are a bit difficult but you can go to him during office hours he's willing to help you understand.Hands down amazing professor. I highly recommend him. You Won't Regret It
I had him for chem 3 and 4. I got a C+ in chem 3 but i think its because it was a huge class. there was around 80 people and you never got a good seat. I passed like 1 test and still passed the class. For chem 4 it was a small class and i started to like him. Yeah his tests are harder than the review but if you put in effort you'll be fine. Got a B
Best professor ever for chm 4 if you in pre pharm. program he explains very good and his test are based on the review .. Very recommended . The best professor in the college . ??????
Prof Bensalem is the best chem professor, his lectures are veryclear, lets you know what is expected of you to pass the class. Very friendly, always ready to help. Do the assigned questions that he gives and you will pass with flying colors. The class is not an easy one, but I guarantee you, the effort that you put in is what you will get in the end
Professor Bensalem is AWESOME! His tests were very easy and manageable. As long as you did the review problems assigned you would be able to get A's on all of his tests. He is also very helpful during his office hours and grades very easily on his tests. There are NO QUIZZES!!
He is the best chemistry professor in this college. He should teach Organic Chemistry too.
He is a good professor! But the class was unfair. Everyone had previous tests. People easily cheat in this class which is not fair to other kids. I personally saw a kid cheating. Also everyone has old tests, even on finals everybody knew exact question. Great prof. But needs to keep close eye on everyone and constantly change tests.
NO homework. only five tests, and he drops one of them. As long as you study, you'll do fine
I had a hard time with chem3 before having bensalem chem4 and man I wish I had him before, his lectures are so on point but his exams make you work for it but it's really worth it cause I genuinely learned a lot in his class
If u have him consider your self blessed ! He is awesome !!! Love him !! Literally he will do anything to pass you ... He's a great and caring person and if u talk to him and show him you care he will help u !!!! TAke him !!!!!!! We need more professors like him in the university
AMAZING PROFESSOR!! as along as you study you will go good. He gives you a study guide for the exam, make sure you study that. The exams are similar to that, attend tutoring, office hours. Curves at the end. drops an exam.
he is a very good person and is always in his office to help you explain 1000 times. gives reviews and is not tough on labs. I am a pre-pharm and I had amazing score for Chem section for PCAT without tutors, just because of him!
He is good at teaching chemistry, no doubts about that. But I felt there was some unfairness going on. When he gave back exams, he would place them in order from highest to lowest, so the person given the last test knew he or she got the lowest score. Make sure not to make little mistakes in the exams, he cuts off points drastically.
He is a great professor, his lectures are super clear and he will explain things to you if you don't understand. He makes great analogies to help you understand and his reviews are exactly like his tests. If you understand how to do the review, you're gonna pass the test. He curves aslong as you get a decent grade to begin with. Great chem prof.
Ehhh he's not bad. Good at teaching, but doesn't care if some students cheat. Personally saw him walking around a student who was cheating but he didn't say anything. His jokes may bother some people. He does curve, but not as much as you think. But his teaching did help me understand chemistry better.
Professor Bensalem is a paragon of how a professor should be. His lectures are crystal clear and straight to the point. He gives reviews before every exam which are similar to the actual exam. He encourages participation. He has a great sense of humor and he is always willing to help his students during office hours. I highly enjoyed his class.
Professor Bensalem is a very intelligent guy. His lectures are great but his tests are a bit hard. You just need to study along with his lectures or else you'll get lost. He gives reviews which are VERY similar to his exams. They are still a bit tricky so like I said just study and ask questions if you need. He is really nice and helpful.
prof Bensalem is very knowledgeable about the subject which makes his lectures very interesting. He seems like he doesn't care much about the students but he actually pays attention and will help if he sees that you are trying. showing to class is very important and his reviews are helpful. this class with usual effort gets you an A.
This teacher is AMAZING! I had a bad teacher before him and when i got him - i was amazed by the way he teaches, i finally understood chemistry! he makes it easy to understand!! He also cares about his students, he wants everyone to do good. Be active in class, go to his office hours, ask a lot of questions, and study his notes - easy A!
Took professor Bensalem in Summer semester. I loved the course. Very understandable. 5 tests with 1 dropped. 91 and up is an A. Great experience. Wish he taught Organic Chemistry too :(
Very clear about what is expected from you, i wouldve loved to have taken him for CHM3 but at least i was glad to him as my prof for CHM4, 5 exams lowest dropped, his reviews are exactly like the exams so study hard and youll get the grade you deserve!
Prof Bensalem is a really great professor. At first I was quite skeptical for taking him because everyone that didn't take him said he was a bad professor. I can assure you, he is really great. He cares about his students and will see to it that you pass, only if you show that you're really trying.
He's a great prof and teaches you almost everything you need to know for the tests. Here's the thing, if you want to succeed, put in the effort required: practice all hw problems, clearly understand his notes (do not miss class!) & show up for lab prepared. Great exam reviews, but will put some addl content not covered in his notes but in txtbook
Must take! I started off course missing 5/9 classes due to holidays. Failed first 2 tests. Never failed a course before. Was ready to drop. Worked hard met in office hours and stepped it up. He dropped lowest grade and ended up with A- must take professor willing to work with students. If only he taught orgo!
BEST CHEMISTRY TEACHER AT LIU.
TESTS ARE HARD!!!
best chemistry professor, very helpful and cares about all the students. Tests are NOT hard just attend his review and go to his office hrs for help. EASY A.
best professor in the world. takkkkeee himmmm
BEST PROFESSOR IN THE WORLD. MUST TAKE HIM. LOVE HIM!!!! EASY IF YOU PAY ATTENTION AND DO THE WORK. REVIEWS ARE BASICALLY THE FORMAT OF THE TEST. PAY ATTENTION AND STUDY AND YOULL GET THAT A. WISH I HAD HIM FOR CHEM 3 BUT CHEM 4 WAS AMAZING!! TAKE HIM. NICEST PROFESSOR EVER. AND ALWAYS IN HIS OFFICE FOR QUESTIONS! :)
TAKE HIM TAKE HIM TAKE HIM TAKE HIM WORK HARD AND STUDY U'LL GET THAT A! PROMISE
You will get an A just if you try to do good in his class. His tests are a little bit hard, but if you study his notes, you will be fine. TAKE HIM. He is the best professor ever!!!!
He actually teaches chemistry well. This man is smart and he will give you a good grade if you take the time to digest what he teaches you in his lectures. His tests are kinda hard, but he always spends a class before the test for review. His review is basically what you will see on his tests.
I LOVE HIM!!! AND YOU WILL TOO! HE IS THE BEST CHEM PROFESSOR IN THE SCHOOL. IF YOU GET HIM CONSDIER YOURSELF BLESSED!!
A blessing I tell you! This man is the best professor in the entire world. He is passionate about the subject and teaches it so well. It's impossible not to get it. He's the best and you will love every minute of his class. He's too funny and really helpful. Don't get something just ask! Study and get that A kids!
Dr. Bensalem was one of the best professors I've had. He is very passionate about his lectures and very caring for his students. All I had to do was pay attention and rewrite the notes after each lecture to memorize the formulas. Hands down you won't regret taking him
Professor Bensalem is an amazing teacher. work hard, do not miss his lectures, go to his office hours he is always there to help, and believe me you will get a grade you like. He's the best
He is the best chemistry professor at LIU, if you have him, then you got blessed. He is truly amazing, makes chemistry fun and easy to understand. He is always available to help you and is very understanding. If you put in the work and show up to class he will know you care. He curves!!! He is the best!!!
His tests arent the easiest, he puts tricks here & there. he wont put topics that you havent learned on the test. Go to his review, the format is basically the same as the test. Show up to class, show progress, and show that you care because he will notice and u will get a good grade. Hes reallllly good at explaining, but sometimes goes fast
I wish he taught every chem class so I could take hm again. He gives clear explanations and makes the material as easy as possible. His reviews are basically the test so don't miss those.
BEST PROFESSOR EVER! He's super nice and seriously does the most so everybody could do well. He explains everything in a way that makes chemistry seem so easy. Go to lecture, study his notes a bit, especially his exam review, and you're guaranteed an A.
He is the best chemistry teacher out there, TAKE HIM. He gives clear and concise explanations to everything. If you don't get something, he will go back and explain it again, if you ask him to.
amazing professor. make sure to get on his good side. he does a very good job at explaining and the curve saves your life, you definitely have to put the work in for it. be sure to show him that you care about your grade.
Hands down the BEST chemistry professor at LIU. Some of his tests can be a little tricky, but he does his best to explain everything clearly. Always willing to answer any questions and will even go back to reexplain things. Genuinely cares and wants his students to pass. He's especially willing to help if he sees that you care and are trying.
I so wish he would teach Orgo. He explains his self into depth and is always open to questions. He will never make you ashamed of asking a 'dumb' question rather he's helping you not make the mistake again. 5 HOURLY EXAMS, drops lowest. If he sees that you care and is always participating, showing up to class, asking questions- he will notice. A+++
Professor Bensalem is a special case. I've personally never struggled in a science class but his. He moves way too quick in the lecture. His tests are straight from the textbook but still very hard. Go to his office hours, show him you care, participate and he might give you a decent grade. He's also quite lenient for lab and very helpful.
great professor. curve will save your life. you HAVE to put the effort in
TAKE HIM, TAKE HIM, TAKE HIM. He is the best chemistry teacher at LIU. Super nice. Guaranteed an A if you attend his exam reviews.
Bensalem really cares for his students. he wants everyone to learn from basics as if you had no prior chem knowledge. He always changes his exams from previous years, hard to cheat, but u really won't need to. 5 exams, 1 gets dropped (50%), 25% lab & 25% final. If he sees you improving throughout, asking questions, offices hrs.. HE WILL CURVE YOU!
Great PROF
Teaches but gives hard tests. The amount of effort I put into this class is absurd. I would literally put aside all my other classes and focus on his. He lowered my GPA.
i dont think ive had a more fair and caring professor than dr. bensalem. highly recommend taking him for chem 4 (didnt have him for chem 3 unfortunately but i heard hes just as great.) make sure to participate as much as possible in class. he notices all your efforts, unlike some professors, and will reflect that in your grade
Professor Bensalem is an amazing teacher, the best chemistry teacher at LIU by far. He really cares, works hard for his students, and is always fair. His tests are easy, very similar to his test reviews. Not hard at all to get an A in his class.
Professor Bensalem gives great lectures and makes you understand the concepts of these topics. His exams are difficult however if you study you will do well. He makes you work for it.
great prof, cares about students. Makes chemistry interesting and easy to understand. Would recommend.
best chemistry professor at liu hands down!!! answers every question, always wants to help, participate and hard work does not go unnoticed he will curve you !! seriously take him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
everyone loves him bec hes probably good IN PERSON. But this man went fully remote during this pandemic and he goes SO fast, STRUGGLES to use zoom, is always tired, messes up on SO MUCH. In the lecture we always find typos or mathematical errors in his calculations and even on the test he makes typos!! doesnt want us to use our periodic tables!
Professor Bensalem is truly an amazing professor. His lectures are very clear, he really cares, he answers every question asked by the students. he gives a review before a test and that is very helpful. everyone I know in this class is doing very well. I am taking him in the spring for CHM4.
Absolutely terrible gave no time to study for exams, thought he ruled the world and exams were so hard there was also a lot of cheating that occured in his class and he didnt care
TAKE HIM, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, TAKE HIM TAKE HIM. Hands down, the BEST chemistry teacher at LIU. Super nice. Guaranteed an A if you attend his test reviews
TAKE HIM !!! I absolutely love this professor and I am really looking forward to taking him again for CHM 4. Very inspirational and has a genuine desire to see his students succeed. Teaches with great passion and has made chemistry a lot of fun for me. Show up to class and really pay attention to the reviews he does before the test.
Bensalem struggles to teach online, like many other professors. During lessons, he goes way too fast, and sometimes you have to tell him to go slower. That being said, in person, he's definitely better. You've got to study a lot in order to pass. He drops the lowest exam. Participation and tutoring is the key to passing
If Professor Bensalem is an option, then DEFINITELY TAKE HIM!! You will be VERY LUCKY to have him!! Very intelligent and knows how to deliver the material for you!! Sometimes he goes very fast, so do not be shy to ask him to slow down. Participate and he will notice it. JUST TAKE HIM BEFORE THE SEATS FILL UP!!! GO AND STOP READING THESE COMMENTS!!
Professor Bensalem's online lectures are amazing, he is always very clear, patient, answers every question. It almost feels like having a private tutor. Great human being, he really cares about his students. I'm taking him again online, for CHM4.
I took him for CHM4 and he was such an amazing chemistry professor, he is really nice and respectful and actually wants us to learn. If you join his office hours and participate he will curve your grade A LOT!
Probably the best chem professor you can have. He cares about his students and tries to make class entertaining. His way of teaching will make you understand chemistry and if you practice his problems and outside problems you will easily pass his tests.
Amazing professor and person. He cares about his students and makes sure that all of them get the best grade they can. He is willing to help and explain whatever you may not understand. Makes chemistry so much easier and interesting.
Professor Bensalem is the best General Chemistry professor here at Long Island University. If there's ever a course with his name on it, you take it right away. He's accommodating, caring, and treats you like a human. As long as you put in the effort and work hard, you're guaranteed to pass his class. Truth is, he's clear, concise, and awesome.
Great Professor, Easy A if you actually attend the lectures as he Explains the concepts well with His own lecture notes. Provides multiple practice problems for every lecture. His midterm exam and the final exam review sheets are nearly identical to the actual exam. Don't hesitate to take him, the only difficult thing about this class is showing up
Bensalem is kind and cares about helping students understand what he is teaching. He remembers ppl by name. He answers questions in class and offers office hours for extra help. His tests are just like his review sheet. He curves a lot too. To study, REPEATEDLY complete ALL of his chapter practice and review problems. JUST PRACTICE & UNDERSTAND!!
Professor Bensalem was an AMAZING professor. He cares a lot about his students getting good grades. He wants to get to know his students so put in a little time to either attend his office hours or chat with him after class. TRUST ME, this will help your grade. Tests are like his review sheets with some questions coming from practice problems.
Best professor at LIU, took him for Chemistry and he is amazing. Take him if you have a chance
The holy savior himself, communicate and get to know him, his course content is challenging but fair grader.
Professor Bensalem has been a pleasure to take. Lectures are calm and easy to follow and he often brings in his own diagrams to further explain topics to the class. Very personable and lovely to talk to.
THE BEST, THE ONE AND ONLY AZZEDADDY he will change your life on how you look at chem, his tests are same as review sheet make sure to ask questions so he knows your name and curves you in the future ( finals)
Great teacher, please take him. His lectures are easy to understand. Answers most questions during lectures, if you ask him. Test questions similar to review sheet, and professor goes over review sheet. His lab classes are very easy. He is a very chill guy and very easy to talk to. Take him if you can. His review sessions for finals is great, do go
Bensalem is awesome, very kind and caring professor, really makes an effort to know his students by a first name basis despite a large lecture hall. in the first day of classes, really try to participate so he knows who you are, he really appreciates that. his tests are very similar to the reviews, never out to trick you. take him!
Probably the nicest science professor. His tests are exactly like the review sheets, if you study those, you should be fine. Is very attentive to his students and actually listens to their feedback.
Professor Bensalem is one of the best professors I have had at LIU so far. He is extremely caring, he gives a lot of partial credit on exams, his lectures are not boring. He does not use the textbook at all, he makes his own notes that are extremely helpful when it comes to studying for exams. I would definitely recommend taking Bensalem.
Literally greatest chemistry professor there is, tests are like the review sheet and do not be afraid to participate in class. If he knows your name, then you are in good shape
His exams are literally 1:1 to his review guide. You do not need to attend class. 3 exams total for the class, and he will drop the lowest exam grade.
Explains the material well. His lecture documents/slides are detailed in a way that you don't have to attend class as long as you study the slides posted on BrightSpace. Questions on tests are on par to the review sheets.
too many people in the class hard to understand lecture sometimes
I literally call him babygirl Bensalem, dudes a king. I will admit his lectures are low key a snooze fest but keep yourself interested because lectures help. Very caring professor, understands your needs and will pass you if you try hard enough. Will be taking him next semester
I struggled maybe because this was just a hard class or that I didn't ask enough questions or he taught too quickly. Review questions are given for practically every chapter. I suppose the test was quite similar to the review questions.
everyone likes to take him for chem so the lecture hall always has 100+ students. there's always 2 or 3 people yapping during his lecture which gets annoying . lectures are straight to the point and exams are directly from the lecture
legit lost all the tests and gave told me its my fault for not coming even though he said Thanks! (my name) right to my face and said I didn't come in foe any of the tests the other reviews are so fake ngl the teaching is awful he's the chair for chem and tells students that they didn't come in for tests even though they take them, what a joke!!!
he favorite students who speak up, like most of the students are shy,
unorganized and can't understand anything
Best chemistry professor at LIU period. He is fair and he cares so much of the students. I took CHM3 twice with two different Professors at LIU, and now I have Professor Bensalem, the best hands down.
Best professor everrrr. Very understanding cares about all of his students. Very respectful. Hes the top professor at LIU
Best professor ever. Took him for CHM 3 and CHM 4. Easy A. Tests are super easy; you just have to study his review sheets and you'll pass. It's an exact copy. Even though your grade is only dependent on exams, he grades in such a way that makes it impossible to fail. He'll drop the lowest grade.
Your grade is only based on exams but if you study his review sheets you'll pass. He absolutely HATES cheating and if he hears that someone has cheated, he will make the next test even harder. He really wants you to pass and will give you multiple chances to do so. He works so hard and cares about his students.
The material can be confusing at times, but he explains it in such a way that you're sure to understand. His tests are easy and if you do his review sheets a couple times, you'll be good. However, whatever you do don't cheat on your exams. He WILL find out and WILL punish the entire class because of a few cheaters.
The best Chemistry professor in this school. His lectures are super informative and if you are attentive and follow along, you will be able to pass his exams with flying colors. His review sheets are very helpful and almost exactly like the exams. DO NOT CHEAT, he will make the tests harder. If he sees your effort, he will help you out.
Made me realize that chemistry is actually very easy
Professor is so caring and knowledgable. Review sheets are really helpful in doing good in the exams. Even puts out extra credit in the form of participation. Would recommend over other chem professors.
Professor Bensalem's class can be tricky, but his review sheets are the key to success. Avoid cheating - he's strict about it. To prep, use his notes along with unstuck ai and you'll be golden. An engaging lecturer who wants students to pass.
Had him for CHEM Lab, he is such a nice teacher, he doesn't lecture, and he will explain how to do the lab. If you have trouble, you can ask him and he will break it down to you in such simple terms, and he may do part of the lab for you if you are stuck. This class is legit saving my GPA.
I personally did not do so great BUT he is a really awesome guy. He hates to fail people and genuinely tries to prevent it. 3 tests then a final. All on paper cause he HATES cheating. PLEASE don't cheat cause someone will snitch and everyone gets the consequences.
I had Professor Bensalem for CHM103 and CHM103L. He posts all the notes and test reviews online so you know what to study, and in chem lab he will help you a lot if you just ask. He also curves your grades so you're guaranteed to pass, especially if you make the effort to go to his office hours!
He is very nice and funny! I had him for lab so the class wasn't too heavy, but he is very helpful and understanding. Take him if you can he is helpful in class
Hands down the best chemistry professor at LIU.
Good teacher, posts good reviews for tests, everything online. for lab he grades a lil strict and his tests are kinda hard. very big on cheating. dont even think about it. very nice teacher and will help you with whatever you need. take him.
do not take this professor, Bensalem used to be very nice past semesters but ever since last year, he's been harsh on his grading to these classes. His reviews are nothing like the exam. He's very sweet but not nice when comes to exams.
He used to have great reviews, but this class was nothing like that. Because students cheated last year, he made the tests extremely hard for everyone. I studied constantly and still couldn't reach the 60s. If you can take another professor, do it. He isn't as nice as everyone portrays he is.
Honestly this is the best professor I ever had. During his lectures you can feel his passion and how much he cares about all his students. I personally may end up with a c or a c+ in his class, but he will still remain the best professor I ever had. TAKE HIM you won't regret it.
My biggest mistake was not dropping this class when I could. Class is based SOLELY on tests, which are so difficult no matter how much you study. I put this class before all, failed twice, and never managed to get above 70 on the others. Apparently the syllabus was changed and we aren't aware either. Doesn't know how to teach, doesnt answer emails.
Ratings don't reflect the class at all. Him being nice or passionate doesn't matter if his grading is harsh. He lectures but expects you to already know the material. Tests are much harder than others, andthe review sheet doesn't match the exams. Don't choose him unless you're ready for a low grade. Any good rating from my section is misleading.
This professor used to be decent, but now he's terrible. The class is all about tests that don't match the material he covers. He doesn't explain things well and when you ask for help, it feels like you're getting nowhere. He doesn't seem to care about how students are actually learning. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this class if you can.
best chem prof at LIU hands down! attendance not mandatory, but explains material well in class. def need to study and put in work if you want a good grade, always there to help to expain esp during office hours. dislikes cheating please dont do it he genuinely wants to teach u and help u. great guy! tests r very similar to review sheets.
Hands down; the most caring professor I have ever came across ; he truly cares about his students succeeding and will do anything to help. His lectures are mandatory and his exams are very similar to the review sheet so pay attention and study mainly the review sheet for his exams you will be golden. 100% take him !! I could go on and on.
This professor is the worst. He gives reviews that are unhelpful. Nothing he says will be on the test. He can be nice at times. However, has an attitude when you do not understand something. He is not fit to teach this course. You will be better off taking Upton.
