Great teacher. Goes over anything if not understood. I did the work and got an A! She really knows what she's talking about so students can ask questions and get real answers not bull.
I have a lot of issues keeping interest in most classes that I take, and she has a knack for being witty, intelligent, and personable to keep you receptive to the material. Lectures are great, organized, and in-depth but not to the point where it seems monotonous. I wouldn't say that her classes are easy, but they won't make you tear your hair out.
off topic. let students decide what direction the lecture went.
I was interested in taking this class because I had heard good things about her. During the review she was laughing about a student, who was a veteran, who had PTSD and how he reacted one day. As a veteran myself, I don't think thats funny and I'm still unsure what that had to do with philosophy. If you're a vet or patriot dont take her.
DO NOT TAKE HER
One of the most brilliant professors I have ever met. Articulate, and patient with the class. Loved her lectures, and learned exactly what I was hoping to. Be prepared to write, and keep up with the reading. I did not, but would be great idea to at least have Ethics, and intro to philosophy done 1st. Will help you keep up with the material.KUDOS
I took her as an online class and really like the way that she had set up. Was really helpful, but she was slow to reply to emails.Even slower for grades. That was probably my biggest beef with this teacher, she was never on top of grades.
Would not recommend her for distance learning. Slow to respond to emails, does not grade work in a timely fashion. Grades were due to admin yesterday, but she has apparently not submitted them yet (I called Records dept). Final grades not given via blackboard yet.
Late on everything. Grades were due four days ago and just now turned in. Disrespectful toward students waiting to turn in transcripts and the admin office that has to put up with her. Took her a month (literally) to return grades on one of only three essays, with no explanation as to why. Clearly does not take her job seriously. Take someone else.
I thinks she has potential to be good but it is clouded by her vocabulary usage. She's a young professor that tries to sound like an intellectual by using alot of 10 dollar words. Cherishing a big vocabulary is one thing, but don't get carried away. Avoid if possible.
She has already missed several days which makes learning difficult. Doesn't grade on time. Dresses inapropriate. Not keen on helping students. Interupts students. Talks about her personal life. The best comment on here I believe was written by her because I cannot believe anybody really had a good time in a unorganised class like this.
Her classes are a trainwreck. If you like a teacher that cuts you off while you speak and does not listen, than this is the class for you. If you like a class where the teacher misses days for the fun of it, than you need to hang out with this teacher. If you like doing classwork and than getting grades 5 months later, then you are a nut.
Waiting for grades, waiting for emails to be answered, waiting for a real class discussion. Good class to take if you want to learn about soccer though.
straight forward teaching. teaches fast so it can be hard to keep up.
Distance learning (online)class. Very unorganized. Could not access links first two weeks of class. Not clear what she expected from Essay's. Went to office hours twice, never there. Called, did not get a call back until days later. Told me to IM on AOL. Like Philosophy, not her teaching style which is non existent
Ugh... This class! I think she knows a lot about philosophy, just not how to teach it or how to run a class. Missed class a lot without notice, took forever to grade things, and constantly gets off topic for entire class periods. She was totally unorganized. If you think you'd enjoy philosophy and want a good lecture, TAKE WITH ANOTHER PROFESSOR.
because of her class and her unorganized and careless attention to class organization she messed up my flawless GPA. Take her if you are interested in getting your first C at ACC.
This professor was among the worst Ive ever dealt with at ACC. She was extremely rude. Was not helpful and unclear on her instruction and syllabus. She sometimes took a week or more to answer emails. I dont recommend this professor unless you want failing or barely passing grade. This professor has a "sink or swim" attitude
past her prime, misses class, takes forever to do anything. Because of her, I changed my major. But I would definitely recommend her if you are interested in wasting 16 weeks of your life, which is what I did.
this professor is a good one she is out spoken...test were online (which was a plus)she is understanding as while u just have to communicate with her...i have read other post but i always got a quick respond...
Excellent teacher. Accent is a little clipped, which may be why some people interpret her as giving them a brush off, but I found her to be helpful and well-organized. Made a difficult class and subject doable. And "past her prime"? I'm not sure this is the same person, as the Prof. Crispino I had can't have been born before 1980.
I guess everything happens for a reason right? This is the first teacher that I have commented on. Do not recommend her. Very smart teacher but does not understand how to teach a lecture class. Difficult to understand. Misses class more often then not. Overall I suggest not choosing her to teach you about phil.
Pretty cool prof. Unorganized but still fun to learn with. Unsure as to my grade in her class since she takes FOREVER to get final grades in... but overall not a bad prof. Enjoyed her lectures and lecture style. Just wish i had a better understanding of what's expected the following class period. But again, I did enjoy her class.
Her class was a little disorganized, but I learned a lot. It is more of a self paced class. You have to keep up on the reading she is not going to be on your butt to do it. But, if you do it you will get an A! Learned a lot and enjoyed lecture.
This is the first teacher Ive ever felt the need to rate. I took her online course over the summer and she is one of the most disorganized professors I've ever had. She took the whole semester to finish grading the first round of essays which gives you no time to read her feedback before submitting the next essay. I would not recommend her at all!
Worst prof I have had at acc. Was nonexistent for majority of semester. Did not grade our 1st paper until a week before the end of the semester. Last two papers were not graded until after the semester was over. No feedback from prof to learn from. She was over a week late turning in offical grades for transcripts. Can't believe they let her teach.
Have been taking her distance learning intro to philosophy class and it has not been enjoyable thus far. Took her almost a month to grade my first essay, VERY slow responding to e-mails, seems more interested in her "Occupy Austin" side projects than class. What saves it all though is the written lectures are very good and easy to understand.
No text books to buy! Buest way to reach her is to set up a phone appointment, which improved my grade by two letter grades. She is very ill and other means of communication can be difficult for her. DO schedule at least one phone appt with her, it shows her that you care about your grade.
By far the worst prof I have ever had. I quoted from her lecture and she told me the idea I quoted was wrong. Its easier to pull teeth than to get you essay graded. I understand being sick all the time, but some people are not meant to teach. Please go work for the Texas Tribune or something...
Wow! Professor Crispino's PHIL 1301 class is harder than my Soph and Junior level classes. I didn't expect PHIL 1301 to be a blow off, but Prof Crispino takes this stuff seriously. Spent easily 5-10 hours weekly on this class, not including classroom time. Class isn't difficult in the intellectual sense, just endless modules, essays, quizzes, etc
I would say that Azzurra is one of the best teachers I've had. She puts everything up that you need in order to pass. She tries her best to make sure the lesson being taught is understood. The grade in the class is all based on how much work you can put into it. This class is similar to a math class where you have to attend in order to understand.
Great teacher. Very passionate. She gives you everything you need to succeed if you just go to class every day. Tough but fair quizzes/exams. Only complaint would be that nothing is set until the last second. She will often say "quiz next time!" then nothing. Also there was an onslaught of quizzes/tests the last two weeks as if she was behind
I was not expecting to like this professor based on the previous reviews. I took the distance learning and it was time consuming but she is very helpful and fair with grading. Do not buy the book, i never opened it. If youre on the edge of being a grade higher, she will not bump you up. I got an 89 and she wouldnt bump it up to an A.
Her teaching is great, HOWEVER - she is not. She taught great, but then the tests were timed to being really short and were difficult. Also, she gets NOTHING graded on time. My grade suffered by an entire letter because she couldn't get her crap together. AWFUL TEACHER. If you want a good, fair grade then don't take her!
I walked into this class with no education in philosophy. If you're expecting this class to be easy then, sorry, it isn't. I struggled at first, but Crispino does a great job of relating to the real world. The semester was a lil bit behind since she was sick, but her course material was on point. I learned a lot from her and highly recommend her.
Very intense professor for an Intro course. The material covered was difficult to understand. It felt more like a religion course and less like a philosophy course. Very slow on grading. 1 plus for this professor is we had no midterm or final. Very hard on grading. It seemed that the quizzes did not encompass the material covered.
Want an easy A? Look elsewhere. I took this class online and I definitely had to work harder because of that. She has "flare ups" which causes her to grade things later or not at all. I worked hard on the last essay of the semester and it never got graded. I got a B, but I was constantly working on stuff for this class. Not easy for an intro class.
Took her online philosophy class. There is quite a bit of reading required and it's not easy reading. Philosophy is hard to follow sometimes. I normally do well with essays but couldn't get an A on the 3 required in her class. Essay-wise, she's a tough grader. Answered my emails within 24 hours. Took a while to grade essays. But gave great feedback
Took the online course. Pay attention to the other poor reviews. They're all true. Quizzes do not always cover the assigned material. Multiple correct answers per quiz question. It's a coin toss which one you get right. Tells you to write papers a certain way then counts off when you writing them according to the instructions. RUN AWAY.
Ms. Crispino's teaching style is very unusual - it's her way or the highway. I would not recommend taking this class if you are a conservative person. She is adamant about expressing her beliefs about corp. companies, her distaste towards police officers and the government, jails and jail time, etc. It was sometimes hard to focus because of this.
I think she wishes she was at UT teaching this course instead of at a Community College. You can tell that she is very passionate about the material but her 2 paper assignments were worse than any English paper I have ever written. Even if you follow her instructions to the T she will find flaws. She wants exactly what she wants & nothing less.
Storngly disliked her ways of teaching. Made me feel like I was an idiot for not knowing something she had asked. I had never taken philosophy before and was pretty much frowned apon for not having any experience.
I adored this professor, yes she grades hard, but she is an inspiration. I loved her teaching style so much I signed up for her Logic course next semester. She has unpopular opinions, but she is fair when listening to others. What I like most about her is she isn't delusional, she has a rational point of view and evidence on why she thinks this way
Prof Crispino gets a lot of flak for her points of view and her quirky demeanor but I really liked her. I did very well in the class without too much stress but there is a TON of reading. If you give the class and the teacher the chance and respect they both deserve, you should do fine.
You can tell she enjoys teaching philosophy. For her online classes, her material is very well structured and clear. She is very helpful but you have to request and put effort. Class material is easy, nothing challenging or tedious. Only bad thing is her extremely though grading of the papers which make up a big chunk of the grade.
Extreme Liberal Activist first. Professor second. Understand this before you take her class. Some very long papers, and essay format tests. If you like to write, this class can work for you. Expect VERY late feedback on any, and everything. Month+ on first paper and test, for example. As brilliant and capable as she is, wish she was more focused.
Leaving without understanding basics of philosophy. Want to spend an entire semester comparing Aristotle, Plato, Descartes, and Hume's views on the soul and religion? She's it. Want to learn intro philosophy? Move on. She grades essays like level 4 comp, and has you reading advanced philosophy material from 3+ diff. texts. Not really intro to phil.
Very articulate
She may come across as cold and direct, but she is just straightforward. You can tell she cares about students and their success. Is open to discussions and input from students. Logic is NOT an EASY class.. if you show up and put in the effort, she is there to make sure you understand the material and is willing to answer ALL questions
Backloaded the end of the semester for no reason. Returned papers late. You need to take ENG Comp. before this class because the papers are advanced writing. A lot of information for just one class. Really hard but her lectures are incredible. She's super passionate about her work.
If you love listening to a social justice warrior preach and writing multiple toughly graded papers then this class is for you. You will have to work for an A, and listen to her for an entire semester. Both are difficult. If you have any other choices for your class take them!
Mid term has not been graded more than a month after its testing period. Online use feels forced, more gimmicky than its worth.
MS. Crispino is an awesome professor . She gives a lot of Homework. Her test is tricky. she gives a lot of opportunity to pass your test. If you do all your home work and all your test you will pass her class. Her class was heavy for me but i made an A.
TOUGH BUT A GOOD PROFESSOR. YOU WILL PASS HER CLASS
Her entire content is derived from another professor, she is not open to original thoughts or ideas, she monetizes her videos to make money off her assignments, her modules are intentionally misleading and confusing, her essay comments clearly prove she is a professor of philosophy, not English, and a shoddy one at that. Would not recommend!
I have a M. Ed. & took this class over the summer for fun. (I love learning!) Quizzes sometimes cover material we haven't read yet. Modules are wordy & intentionally misleading. Recently, she gave me a C+ on my paper. I showed my ELA colleagues & they were appalled. I think it makes her feel self important to do so, but it doesn't make her right.
Professor Crispino's Ethics course was hard, but extremely enlightening. She is a tough grader when it comes graded papers, however, she is available during office hours and will discuss with you in depth what she expects from your paper. Listen to her feedback and ACTUALLY USE IT. Also, she offers extra credit! Take it, it will be worth it.
I took Professor Crispino's Ethics course, it was very challenging. Be prepared for a ton of reading. She does not use any power points, and you just have to take notes off of her lectures. She is good at going in depth, and the class discussions were interesting, and intelectual. This was probably one of my most challenging courses.
Enjoyed the material. It was difficult to understand but then got hang of. Writing the essays were hard but she gives great feedback.
If you basically want to teach yourself this class, then I suggest taking it online. Showing up does no good! Professor is late. Unorganized. Always makes us do group projects while she sits around on her phone or laptop. Her teaching style is non existent which means you won't learn much if anything. Lots of reading and quizzes. Very opinionated!
Our first massive paper was due the Monday after ACL, the friday before, she emailed, "I've just received ACL tickets, and will be going all weekend. I won't be around to answer essay questions. Cheers!" Her rudeness and lack of urgency is only matched by her exorbitantly tough grading over material that she has taken from another professor!
This class was extremely lecture heavy with the quizzes/tests being reliant on the professors exact words alone which would have been completely managable if Crispino hadnt skipped 5-8 classes throughout the semester. Left my class behind on the material and very confused about the MANY major assignments.
Worst class I ever took. I voice that the other poor comments are true. If can take anyone else do not hesitate to do so!
This class was a lot of work, but it wasnt hard to pass. Get ready to read and take notes because youll need throughout the semester. You do write papers, which she is a tough grader on. She gives some opportunity for extra credit, you just have to make yourself do it. Overall a good class and teacher.
Professor is tough grader when it comes to writing papers, and there are so many papers! She can be very unclear when it comes to directions and deadlines also, so make sure you ASK AND CLARIFY! visit her during office hours, ask what you should include in your paper, and make sure you do not divert from what she says she wants in the paper.
Constantly missing class, never a clear explanation of what is required on the coursework, did not cover things that was on the mid-term, lectures always went off topic. She clearly stated she did not care about our grade, it is up to us to understand what she wants from us, even though she missed two and a half weeks of class. She gets an "F".
I took her online summer course which was the worst mistake of my life. The syllabus was unclear and she had a separate section with additional info that contradicted some of the stuff said in the syllabus. She confused everyone on turning in our first essay assignment and took points off our grade if we emailed her asking for more clarification.
She is extremely unorganized and all over the place with her teaching. The course is super subjective and you have to do everything exactly as she says. We did not get a full text book and there are no other resources ( tutors, online, etc) to learn on your own. She is extremely slow at grading. and misses a lot of classes leaving unqualified subs.
Professor Crispino isn't as bad as these reviews make her seem in my eyes... She's not very organized, they got that right. She makes it up to you though. The whole substitute thing is annoying because she does miss quite a few classes. But hey, at least she gets a sub rather than cancelling. She's hilarious and passionate about her stuff.
Very unorganized, provides a disaster of a calendar that she doesn't even follow. Lectures are often confusing so be prepared to take detailed notes. Absent for many of her classes with very late notice to her students. Provides poor communication with her students. Avoid this professor if you are taking Ethics. Only upside is lots of extra credit.
Everybody in these reviews is tripping. She misses a lot due to chronic illness but provides video lectures. Class is easy. Quizzes and tests are open notes and taken online. Read a book for once people its a basic philosophy class and the content is interesting. I would cut her some slack folks.
Whatever you do, do not take a half-semester class, there is way too much to do in such a short amount of time. I have never had to read so much so quickly before. I am almost certain a full length class would have been just fine though. She is pretty lenient on the grading at least, and the work itself was not hard, there was just so much of it.
She is great when it comes to actual class discussions and conversing with students. However, her calendar could be much better. It is in an awkward table online when it could be more organized in a PDF format. Furthermore, the BlackBoard material is hard to find. A quiz may be in an unrelated unit, and she rarely gives a heads up with HW.
She makes a lot of mistakes and skips a lot of classes. She falsely claims that the class gets easier as the semester goes on. She gave an exam in which 1/2 the questions were over concepts we hadn't covered then told us it was our fault. She has an exam scheduled for after the semester is over. She uses a bad textbook because her friends wrote it
Cripsino is very disorganized, but she is a great professor. I bought the book thinking we would need it, but I never read and passed with an A in the class. If you don't read and attend class then you'll be fine. She is writing her own book that she is going to be using in the class so things might change drastically.
She was very nice, but if trying to counter her theory or philosophies then things can get disturbing so just agree to her lectures and her way of thinking. Disorganized and cancelled class (no complains about that, plus she told us that since the first day) due to her illness. Overall interesting concepts that are mesmerizing, would recommend her!
This was absolutely the worst online class I have ever taken. She is very disorganized. Half of the links didn't work, she didn't give clear instructions for the homework assignments (then posted after the assignments were due that she should have explained better), the book is hard to understand (she wrote it). Would not recommend her to anyone
She is very disorganized, the web tutor link frequently doesn't work and she missed class often. The professor's frequent absences made learning extremely choppy, often the sub wasn't on the same page. I regret taking this class with her. Also her lectures are unpleasant to sit through, it's like listening to fingernails on the chalkboard.
I feel really bad making this review because she's very nice but super unorganized and gives way too much "busy" work. I left this class not learning a thing. If it wasn't for the help of my classmates I think I would've done much worse. Luckily, I think most of the grades were for participation.
I know Professor Crispino is getting a lot of negative reviews on here, but I actually ended up doing well in this class. Make sure to watch her lectures because the answers for the tests or quizzes are there if you listen. She's willing to work with you if you talk to her personally and she at least shown me that she genuinely cares for students.
Professor Crispino was completely unorganized. We were often given lectures and material for the homework/tests a couple of days before it was due, which gave little time to study. She writes her textbook herself and it is unbearable and very confusing. She does give a lot of extra credit opportunities, though. I didn't learn much at all.
If you are a busy student with kids and a full time job, AVOID this professor. She wrote her own texbook, very confusing to read. Lot of assignments, Lot of reading, volunteer assignment for 6hrs, quiz every wk. Reflection questions weekly, Exams are all essay questions, no multiple choice. She should be teaching at UT not a community college
Extremely disorganized. All the negative reviews on here are spot on. I got an A in this class, yet it still felt like a complete waste. Do yourself a favor and avoid her at all costs.
I took her online 5-week class and it was very rough, you will not hear from her often but she will respond quick if you email her. The class has a lot of reading which is not too bad but a lot of interpretations you would have to come up yourself since she is not very interactive. Make sure you do all of the discussion boards and take the quiz.
Took this professor my Spring 2020 semester and she was probably one of the worst professors I've ever had. Her "textbook" is unfinished and disorganized, and yet she still gives discussion questions on it when the answers are hardly in the textbook, She gives lots of homework and projects that are unnecessary. Do not take her.
I took the 5-week ethics class and it was extremely difficult. She required us to buy her book, which is super wordy and full of grammatical/spelling errors. There are bolded vocab words but no definitions. Her instructions are often unclear and when students ask questions she just refers them to the syllabus. Avoid this class if you can.
Worst professor ever. No grades on anything does not answer emails, so NO idea how youre doing. When I got my grade for a paper after class ended, she said I need to define some terms, which I did. When I defined them she told me there was no need to define. No lectures. Her quizzes on her book do not relate. Do yourself a favor and stay away.
I took the 5 week course during the summer and had a midterm then the final the next week. I understand 5 week courses are packed but she made it very work heavy. She makes it feel like you cannot reach out to her and like youre on your own so I recommend reaching out and making a friend in this class. - or not taking this professor.
No lectures, a lot of homework due almost every day of the week. Doesn't grade until semester is over. She finally updated my grade (her mistake). Glad that class is over and done with!!
If taken alone, it might be doable. She gives so many assignments and expects you to teach yourself with her self written book. She doesnt provide recorded lectures and the content is unorganized and extremely confusing how she laid it out. I have one degree already and consider myself a decent student. I regret taking her!
She gives several assignments to do in one week, you have to but her own written textbook if not you will definitely fail the class. The textbook is poorly written and disorganized, as well as assignments given can be extremely confusing on how disorganized everything is. I have to take the class again but definitely with another professor.
Dont waste your time. She requires everyone to buy a textbook that is online only, that SHE wrote herself (poorly) plus you have assignments that can only be turned in through that website so it is necessary. Very unorganized, she contradicts herself frequently but talks to you like its your fault. Pointless busywork. She should be ashamed.
I was in her class for a few weeks and had trouble completing her quiz due to work so I turned it in late. After that, she decided to ghost me for the entire semester even though I completed all of the work on time. Extremely unprofessional and would not respond to emails so I decided to drop the class. Her textbook is overpriced, makes no sense.
RUN. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN. This "Professor" was absolutely horrible. She should be ashamed. She is awful when it comes to grading and made our class wait until December for a paper we turned into her in September. She grades unfairly. Likes to tweet incessantly instead of grading coursework. The textbook is horribly written. Avoid this class.
She made this class way harder than it needed to be. She over explained all the material in lectures to where it was even more confusing than it already was. Big work load. Lots of reading. VERY tough grader. Thought I was a good writer until I came to this class. Rude and not understanding to say the least.
The textbook used for this class is one that SHE wrote and dont worry she wont let you forget it. Heavy work load. Tough grader. Disorganized. Graded my essay 2 months later and then had the audacity to basically write a whole essay about how my essay sucked.
Calculus 554 is easier than taking the course with her.
It is an Ethics class and first, you see is that she forces a person to buy the book which she wroteeee!! and reading geography book is easier than her book. IT is super way more than it should be don't take it !!!
Using a book that she wrote was the first red flag and it is pretty confusing. She took 2.5 months to grade an essay I wrote that I even took to her S.I to review prior to submitting it and she gave me a C and I KNOW I can write a good essay. I could go on and on if there was the space for it. If you can get a different professor, DO IT.
Textbook is over priced (can't re sale bc its online & limited term) & has a lot of grammar errors. She gives very vague instructions then penalizes you when essays aren't what she wants. Definitely watch the lectures and take notes. She also took over a month to grade essays.
I would rather have taken class twice than taken it once from her. Insane amount of assignments. Her class took 2x as much time than my other classes COMBINED. Poor communication. Forces you to buy her textbook ($65) that is made up of mostly other people's work that she copy and pasted. Legitimately awful professor, avoid at all costs.
Azzurra has gotten a lot of hate on here, but if you apply yourself and actually read, you'll do fine. I highly recommend attending SI even if you aren't necessarily struggling in her class, it will still help your grade. If you don't want to commit to 6 hours of community service, don't take her. Solid class in my opinion.
Azzura is one of the best professors Ive ever had. Shes super quirky and real, which I love. Her quizzes and exams are open-book; her exams are multiple choice and essay. She also gives homework from the book. She is very clear of her expectations and offers great feedback. Piece of advice- be prepared to use your critical-thinking skills.
Professor Crispino is NOTHING like the horrible reviews! All of the tests and quizzes are open book open note EVEN the final exam and midterm exam. A lot of her grading was participation grades and a easy 100. Her grading is a little tough on your papers you submit but overall she was a great professor and I would take again.
Almost never answered her emails. Instructions were very unclear and it was like she had no idea what she was doing. Will fail you for copying definitions. Lectures she gave us were outdated, she does the bare minimum. Doesnt have any regards for her students and it shows in her attitude and class.
Havent even begun class yet and once I saw the syllabus I wanted to scream .
The description on the class doesn't tell you anything about the class. You have to buy HER book, you are required to volunteer for 6 hours (outside of work and any other life you have), there's lots of journaling, writing, discussions. I understand it is supposed to simulate the class, but if you aren't a very good writer, you wont get good grades
Professor Crispino provide amazing lectures very knowledge provide good feedbacks and provide everything to succeed in her class. I recommend Professor Crispino
This was the most unorganized class I have ever taken. She would wait until the day something was due to post the instructions for it and it took months for me and my classmates to get our papers back. It was quite overwhelming with the number of assignments she would have us do every week. Don't take this class unless you wanna be stressed out.
I am in this class right now and it has been, eh. She openly admits she is struggling not only as a professor but within her own life as well. She makes things way more complicated than it has to be and I am with everyone else writing your own book and then making us pay for it is a RED FLAG!!! It's all based on her own opinions, it's awful.
Worst professor Ive ever had. Completely disorganized throughout the entire semester. All of the due dates were incorrect, the syllabus didnt match blackboard due dates, work was always delayed in grading. Assignments were posted super last minute. Not thorough in her instructions! Too much work for the quality of professor she is.
Extremely disorganized and rude! Don't even try to ask her a question because she will refer you to something she already did not make clear. 3rd week of class and we've had nearly 15 assignments each week. How can you teach Ethics, yet be bias by forcing the class to buy your book? Wish I knew about Rate My Prof before I signed up for her class.
if i could give her a 0 i would. Worst professor ever. She makes things harder than they need to be, she’s very rude, and assigns so much work. it’s a community college and she assigns work like you’re at a high level university. i’ll rather * in my hand and clap than take this class ever again
this class is ridiculous. the teacher posted our mid term an entire week late now we have a ton of work on top of the midterm. takes FOREVER to grade work. the lecture videos all skip so you cant understand what she's saying half of the time. the book and her way of teaching is very confusing!!! I wish I would've seen reviews before registering :((
She is extremely unorganized and unprepared. You never have an accurate indication of your course grade being that she takes MONTHS to grade essays and or essay like assignments. It would be in your favor to never take this course with her. If you are looking for a low maintenance course this is not it; be prepared to spend hours on this course.
This is not an easy class at all. You have to really keep up with the course contect and always email her when you have questions, she replies fast! I got an A becasue I really tried my best in every assignment and actually gave it my time to learn about every philosopher and their theories!
Lots of reading should be expected, it's ethics. The recorded lectures are terrible quality. Will be late in posting homework for the week. An EXTREMELY slow grader. 3 days for email replies. Half my group did not talk. Online group work sucks. Easy participation points. Does have extra credit opportunities, but it's more writing if you want it.
This class does require a lot of reading as does all ethics classes put professor crispino was very very helpful in her emails and emailing back in a timely manner as well as very lenient with late work and often times would remind me of work that needed to be turned in even if it was due weeks ago! Very supportive professor!
Does not grade assignments in a timely manner. There were several assignments that lead up to the final paper and they were not graded until the last day of the semester. Often had unclear instructions on assignments and papers, making them unnecessarily difficult. Promptly responds to emails.
Gives way to much work for the amount of time you have. Makes you do group work and volunteer for 6 hours on top of the long list of assignments. Doesn't set clear instructions and doesn't give you a lot of time to finish assignments. Would not recommended at all, dropping the class because coursework is unreasonable.
I would not advise to take this class a summer course. It is overwhelmingly too much especially if you plan to take it with another class. You have news discussion posts, reflections questions from the book, essays, 6 hour volunteering, group assignments, class journals, quizzes, and exams which are mainly written responses. It is hard!
Keep up with the dates! Do the reading and work! it's a lot but it's easy if you pay attention. Yes there is volunteer hours but it's not tough. She communicates well so email/visit. She will work with you. Lots of reading is expected! Easy work if you do it! I liked her.
Unprofessional, unresponsive, unkind, and unclear. Takes months to give feedback, and says unkind things to her students. We pay too much in school for poor quality class. Save yourself the headache and find a different instructor.
This was a very unorganized class. None of my work was graded until the last week of class. Create a group me with your peers! It helps SO much. Her lectures and instruction were often confusing and difficult to understand, I passed the class with an A, it took a LOT of time and self teaching. Would NEVER take a class with this professor again.
I dropped within 10 days. If there is a god, it isn't merciful, because they're letting this disorganized monster teach an online gen-ed community college class. Discussion board posts, papers, quizzes, and homework from her own book that she makes you buy are due every 1-2 weeks, along with 6 volunteer hours and small group work. Run. Far away.
350 words isnt enough. Its not hard its just too much. My other 2 classes which should be more difficult were nothing compared to week one of this class. When you read the syllabus you'll know that something is off. Makes you buy her over priced textbook and nudges you towards the option where she gets paid more and you get less.
The class is incredibly interesting, but the classwork is monotonous and leaves a lot to interpretation. Ask for explicit details if you take her class. Don't be afraid to reach out to her, either, because she IS accessible and not as scary as you think. She's clearly VERY smart and loves Philosophy, so if you work with that, you may do well.
Very unorganized
Azzurra seems to be a nice professor, however she is so unorganized that this class becomes almost impossible to follow. While she doesn't have super strict due dates the assignments are seemingly posted at random, she doesn't know how to use blackboard efficiently as she just posts assignments to random folders rather than their respective units.
Unorganized and asked us to do outside community volunteering knowing that we have so much homework... I didn't learn anything as she only reads the book.
Book was her own and does not go into detail so the reflection questions were difficult to answer. She was not releasing course work on time which made me fall behind on the 3-4 week of class. This is important for people who work full time and are trying to manage taking online classes.Very unorganized.Needless to say, I am dropping the class. 0/5
I dropped 4 weeks in, and she had given zero feedback on anything. The textbook is one she wrote, and it was so hard to get her to clarify anything in order to do work independently. I've taken many hard online classes; this professor was so disorganized, it felt impossible. It was such an enormous waste of my time. Take any other professor!
While the class may be disorganized and you need to buy her textbook, I found her to be a wonderful professor. She accepts late work without a penalty, will allow you to redo most assignments even if it says it can only be completed once. If you are having any problems just reach out and she will help the best she can she responds very quickly.
This class is extremely disorganized. You have to purchase the textbook she wrote and the reflection questions within it are not clear as to what they are referencing. She was absent for about 2 weeks during this semester and now she realized her math was wrong with the assignments and I can be finished with the semester now and not write the essay
I dropped this class about 8 days after this professor was very disorganized I've never had a problem with a professor being so disorganized but this was to much I don't recommend anyone sign up for this class there was also a lot of work and we had no idea when things were due it was just everywhere and I'd suggest looking for a different class
DO NOT RECOMMEND!!
I wouldn't recommend this professor. She didn't grade anything for multiple weeks, so you never knew your grade. She also didn't post any instructions until a week into class starting, and this was already an 8 week class. You have to pay $80 for her textbook she wrote, which is hard to read/understand. She was understanding with late work though.
Avoid this professor if possible. She was very disorganized and would not grade for weeks (it was an 8-week class). She is the author of the textbook used for class, which is a short book that she sells for $80. However, she is not a tough grader and accepts late work without penalizing.
If possible, avoid this professor. She was very disorganized and took weeks to grade. She requires the purchase of a short textbook that she wrote herself which costs $80. Overall, she's a lenient grader once grades are in and responds to questions promptly.
She's a bit eccentric and pushy with her ideas, and the course is hard to follow. Many assignments weren't on the calendar she told us to use, or the items in the calendar weren't on Blackboard. The work is easy, but a LOT of writing/typing. Gives multiple extra credit opportunities and can turn in anything until the last day of the semester.
It doesn't mention it online, but this class requires community service. I feel like the service learning project wasn't a bad experience. Attendance wasn't necessarily mandatory, but there was a small portion of the final grade was participation in class (10% maybe). $80 online rental for 6 months for her textbook. smh.
Only good thing about her class is that she's accepting of late work but right so - she gives you 60+ assignments a week so be weary of that if you're taking a large amount of classes per semester. Also, you have to do community service which isn't bad but it has to be approved by her… community service is community service so that was strange.
Prof. Crispino is passionate and her teachings were inspirational. There is a lot of work due each week, but she accepts late work without penalty. She took a while to grade, but I understand she is also in school (I believe for her PhD, but I could be wrong), and I'm sure she has a lot to do. This was one of my favorite classes I've ever taken.
Frequently used generative AI bots such as ChatGPT in front of the entire class to generate assignments which were near impossible. Frequently interrupts students while they are speaking during presentations in order to correct students & "disagree with what the textbook says." Accepts late work until the end of the course. Do not take this course.
She admitted to using AI to create assignments and even did it in front of the class while barely skimming through the AI-generated assignment and publishing it without going over all the material that was inside the generated assignment. She is very inappropriate and brings up inappropriate topics multiple times without any context for them.
Uses AI to make assignments which are impossible to complete. She also brings up inappropriate topics for zero reason and makes the class uncomfortable. So bad that other professors feel sorry for the students in her class. Furthermore she is disrespectful and mean to kids who participate and fails kids who don't. Frequently disagrees with textbook
I think professor Crispino tries her best to make you pass in course because she makes sure if you make any mistake you can resubmit the assignment, she does not deduct marks for late assignments and you can sill turn it in even after weeks. There are a lot of modules and assignment that you need to do, which is equal to a offline class.
Teacher was extremely difficult in person and over email, Refusal to respond to my emails. Mentions of inappropriate topics that had nothing to do with the topic. such as porn, excessive touching of two individuals and more. Involvement of personal feelings with grades. (started with a A+ and dropped me to a C-), Favoritism. Horrible professor.
I don't recommend taking this course; the professor consistently showed unprofessional behavior by bringing up inappropriate, non-relevant topics during class in front of minors. Grading was highly subjective and often deviated from the syllabus and rubric guidelines. The emotional bias in grading negatively impacted my grade in multiple occasions.
