always late!
Ugh, lecture extremely unhelpful
Talks funny, always says eh , easy class, lectures are a waste of time
Good professor, thought provoking.
annoying voice, ___ everything on the board, you dont know whats important
A very good teacher that cares about the subject. He is very delicated and believes in what he teaches. I like his attitude and willingness to listen and debate. His tests are easy if you come to class and take notes.

he's always late and is unorganized but he simplifies the material well. His tests are hard even though you think they would not be
This instructor was unorganized and often late, but he was quick to embarrass any students entering the class late. He is a control freak during the lectures and very opinionated. Ugh...His notes were unorganized and presented poorly.
He was always late and kept us to the very end of class with minimal breaks. I grew bored of his accent for 4 hours during summer school. He is unorganized and gave a 7 page paper assignment for a 6 week class.
Very easy. Read chs and pick out what is in the book and you will be golden. He is readily avaible after class & during office hours. Follow his test study guides and tests are a BREEZE. Easy "A" if you are motivated.
he is very biosed and he doesn't like to be conteradicted.
This teacher is unclear, unhelpful, rambles with a thick annoying accent and is late but HUMILIATED ME for leaving early in front of the class. 80% dropped, and I ended up with a B but the lectures are verbatim the book and tests are difficult and picky.
Just study his exact lecture notes. And do not argue with what he is teaching.
A very nice guy, always in a good mood. Overall a good teacher, but notes are unorganized, and he jumps around a lot.Pretty much write every name he comes across on the board, not sure what's important.Tests are super easy, all scantron.
Nicest guy ever, a bit unorganized, but overall an easy class and good teacher.
got an A in this class, but man is he wishy-washy. at lectures he gets really disorganized. my advise is read the book, sit there like a good student, and not get irritated at his confusion.
Vary unclear and hard to understand the main points of the lecture.

he may not be the best professor but good enough to know what he teaches... gives good examples and explains topics clearly though he sometimes misspell some words when writting in the board.you wanna learn - take his class! he's just a little bookish tho
Took this class in fall01' He is a nice guy(very captavating family story)Just pay attention and study and you'll be fine. My 1st ever soc class and I got an A. If need help, there's PLENTLY of study groups each semester(he gave extra credit for attending
His class is very easy though you don't do much just sit and listen,it gets very boring sometimes. I took sociology and history with him and i got A's in both. If you want an easy A just read the chapters and quizzes are piece of cake! i recommend him.
His is really a nice teacher and cares about his students to learn. I took Arabic class with him, and I learned alot. I used my notes and read the text book and i got an A. if u r looking for nice arabic teacher... I recomend u to take with him...Good luck.
Bachir is a great teacher, I took this class in the summer and still got an east A. He is very down to earth, helpful, and his tests cover only the material he lectures on. If you have any trouble talk to him after class, he is already ready to help in any way he can!
He is very hard to understand. I could not keep up with what he was saying!! I was very interested in Sociology before, but had to drop his class.
He is very nice and the class is very easy but he has no respect for your time or school policy or rules. He lectures the entire class and expects you to stay after class to take the quiz. He is always 10 minutes late for class. the night of the final we were there from 7pm to 10:30pm becasue of his lack of organization. Class is unruley and loud.
HE IS AGREAT TEACHER AND HE LOVES WHAT HE TEACHES HE ACTUALLY KEPT ME INTERESTED IN THE TOPIC. ALTHOUGH HIS ACCENT IS UNCLEAR ONCE YOUR PAST THAT THE CLASS IS VERY EASY. HE ALWAYS COMES TO CLASS WITHA SMILE ON HIS FACE. VERY NICE.
um.. nice guy.. but a bit boring.. easy class..
good teacher

If you have the patience to listen to his lectures the class will be great. The analogies and connections he makes to every-day life are great as well. A good class, but for a 1 night per week evening class it is too long.

Very enlightening class. He is a very sweet man and actually wants his students to succeed! However, he does expect one thing: to come to class with an open mind and open to exploring different ideas and perspectives. Very educated man, knows his history! - Overall,thought- provoking class!
hard to understand at times (unclear accent). Goes off on tangents, doesnt like narrow minded students or students who distract and talk a lot. gives pop quizes random times through the class at almost every one so you have to go. read and tests are easy obviously. grades pretty fairly. final isnt cummulative
I had such high expectations of this class, and I was sadly disappointed with what I got. The teacher, although he is a very knowledgeable and friendly man, lacks the ability to lecture clearly or in any kind of meaningful way. Worst of all he rushed through the last 500yrs of history in only two class periods, with no mention of the last 50yrs.
It was a good class. He was always there to speak to me after class. He really knows his stuff. If you would like a critical examination of the history of Islam and the "Middle East", then take this class. There was a student in the class who was really ignorant and a borderline **** the professor was patient with him, yet assertive.
Most boring human being I have ever met. Gets defensive if you question anything he says. He is always late and makes random mental leaps that no one follows. Horrible class.
Most of what he teaches is technically correct, but carefully selected. He has no patience for questions or comments that run contrary to his opinions on the politics of the region, and I found his delivery extremely unacademic. This class was the Middle East equivalent of an American History class taught by Rush Limbough.
It was very hard to follow the notes he wrote on the board. He would often start writing one place, then move to another place... Definently had to pay attention carefully, otherwise copying from the board would have been impossible. Nice guy, but very hard to understand sometimes.
hard to follow sometimes and have to get used to accent. only quizzes on what he says in lectures. but you can read the book the whole class period and still pass. very easy class, no homework. friendly and always smiling.
Lots and lots of long lectures, No homework other than studying. Tests and quizes are based on lectures. But the class overall is just lectures. Not well explained and always running late or past the class time. Does not follow the class sylabus schedule at all. But he is a nice person. Just not organized.
I just have no words that would do it justice. Be forwarned
ALways late to class and can never seem to finish on time. Very difficult to understand(accent). Hes a nice guy and cares about what he teaches, but its hard to get an A.
Nice guy but this class is so boring! I spent more time trying to stay awake than I did trying to learn the stuff. Easy to get a good grade but hard to stay awake!
I wanted to take this class even after reading these comments for the content and lack of another instructor. Very little classwork and assignments, but when there is directions are so unclear and he is a hard grader. His lectures and notes are all over the place, and questions he seems to make fun.
I cannot imagine anyone who would give this instructor a positive review. He is entirely unorganized and rambling and always takes far too long to explain a topic. There is virtually no class interaction, unless he's pausing for the class to fill in blanks in his sentences. His lectures are more like 21 questions. What an absolute disappointment!
Took his class. Got an A. Learned some stuff. He does kidn of get off topic, but I found it to be amusing. Take it with a friend and work!Easy A
He's a great, respectful teacher. Who's really gives an excellent idea of the Middle East. Just attend all the classes, participate, take notes because there more important than the textbook. Every time ask the teacher because he really puts an eye on you if you participate and it gives him a good impression.Take the course becase it really exciting
I really enjoyed this class; though I'll admit that his teaching style wasn't always the most entertaining. But he covered the material well and in detail and you can tell he really loves his subject and profession. If you take notes and follow up with reading its not a hard class at all. Takes some work, but then again this IS college.
First off he is always late, gives tests the last minutue of class. I cant understand him because his accent, and he should just offer someone to teach the class for him because he asks the students too many questions. He trys to make us fill in the blanks to his own lectures. Learned nothing, except for never taking him again.
I hated him. He has the worst time management skills, his study guides and quizzes don't help you for the test, you can't understand a WORD he says, and when you asks questions he makes you feel stupid. DONT TAKE HIM! Its torture.
One of the worst teachers i have ever had. People are right about not being able to understand him. Don't bother buying a book you'll never use it. He comes to class late and ends class late. The class i was in ended at 4:45 and he handed out a test at 4:43, "NO JOKE." Doesn't care about your time at all. Whatever you do just don't take this class.
He's a cool guy that is clearly passionate about sociology, though his lectures can be a bit awkward with the strange questions he asks the class. He gives zero homework and still toughroughly educates you. His tests are all straight out of the text. Bottom line, easy A and an excellent understanding of sociology.
One of the worst teachers I've ever had. He teaches his version of history and refuses to acknowledge anyone elses opinion. Always late and very unorganized.
Indian teacher. Liberal. Doesn't always give full historic information (leave stuff out). But is easy, kind, respectful and lets the class talk and have discussions. So it is up to you whether you are going to enjoy it and participate or not.
HE'S THE WORST I HAD AT GROSSMONT ALWAYS LATE BUT DROPS PEOPLE FOR BEING LATE, HIS STUDY GUIDES DONT MAKE ANY SENSE. HE ALWAYS SAYS YOU ARE WRONG, PAY CLOSE ATTENTION ALL THE TIME LIKE YOUR STUPID. HE THINKS HE KNOWS IT ALL AND HIS FACTS ARE HIS OWN OPINIONS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!!!!
Easy A, but terrible teacher. As long as you study the chapters (and he hands out study guides with everything on them), you will get an A. But he is the worst teacher I've ever had.
NO JOKE, NO EXAGGERATING, HE'S THE WORST PROFESSOR I EVER HAD!!!! I COULD GO ON AND ON IN SO MANY WAYS ABOUT HOW TERRIBLE HE IS, BUT I THINK IT'S BEST IF I JUST LEAVE IT AT THAT. I THINK YOU CAN GET AN IDEA BY EVERYONE ELSE'S COMMENTS OF JUST HOW HORRIBLE HE IS. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!
This was the worst TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS FROM HIM?IT WILL KILL YOU he is LATE, OVERLY OPINIONATED, the TEST WHERE A JOKE, & he has VERY BAD ACCENT READ THE TEXT BOOK IT MAYBE THEONLY THING THAT SAVES YOU YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!
Not a professor I would recommend to anyone. He was usually late to class, had extremely poor time management, and made inappropriate sexual comments about a young lady in my class. He also made anyone who asked a question out to sound idiotic, though I don't know if this was cultural. He was very passionate about sociology, but lost his students.
Well this teacher really isn't helpful. You have a hard time understanding him, the textbook you'll seriously his notes on the whiteboard are all over the place. Quizzes are never a "priority" he'll hand them out 5 minutes before the class ends. Last test we took I believe he handed out the last half hour of class. Overall, don't take him.
He talks a lot. He is never on track with is syllabus. He was late to class everyday. All that said, he was a very easy grader. His quizzes and tests are retardedly simple if you showed up or opened your book. I liked him very much, but he seemed to have poor organizational skils at times. He genuinely cares about his student though. An easy A.
People do not take this guy. He is a very horrible teacher. Basically he is setting everyone up for failure. Right now I am in class and all he does is talk and talk. We havent had a test yet and we are so behind. Any teacher that is going to give you a quiz when class is over is not a teacher you should take.
He's a very kind man first off. As a teacher he is slightly disorganized but his class is nothing that can't be done. He's a pretty easy grader and not heavy on homework. 8/10
All lecture class. Multiple choice exams. Two 5-page essays. Easy on attendance. Take TONS of notes and pay attention in class and it's an easy A. Of my five classes that semester, his class offered the most information and learning opportunities, especially considering ho easy it was to pass. Awesome professor and I'd take him again if I could.
He is about a minute late to class, you can sometimes understand him. But over all, he is on t he best teachers. He's super funny and nice and he likes to let the class talk as well. If you read the book or pay attention in class, you'll ace every text and quiz. And he doesn't give homework :) awesome guy!!
Easy class if you don't need guidance. He goes off topic and never stays by the class schedule.Hard to understand at times.Gives out study guides.Going over the review pages at the end of each chapter will help a lot to get an A on quizes.
He's nice if you listen to him. His lectures go over everything you need to know, but he tends to go over the date set. One lecture lasts more then three days per chapter. He doesn't give much time to do the quizzes or tests, but otherwise it is a good class.
very un-organized teacher.half of the things thats stated on the studyguides are barely on the tests.
Nice guy. About 5 min late to class every time. Test and quizzes are easy as long as you pay attention and take notes. Test and quizzes are exactly what he writes on the board. Gives study guy. Accent is sometimes hard to understand. Does do lectures on test days. Somewhat unorganized but overall an easy, nice class.
had the highest grade in my class, his test and quizzes are from the notes and reading, very easy reading. yes we were about a month off schedule but thats because we soaked up the other chapters so well it was impossible to fail. may be boring at times but just listen and you will pass
I absolutely loved his class, he could not make the class easier if he tried!! He gives out study guide, goes over them, gives easy quizes, one of the best teachers I could ever had. Yes he takes a long time in each chapter and the class get sometimes boring, but I cannot really complain!!
Once you understand his accent, you realize that his vocabulary is excellent. He is so detailed that it is difficult to fail if you listen and take notes. If you take 20min to read the chapter ahead of class like he assigns, you sound like a genius. Super nice little guy. Really cares about the students and the world in general.
So... I'm in his class right now and we are over a MONTH behind in lecture material. He likes to be stuck on one topic for way to long and never ends up finishing what he has planned that day. He also waits until 1 minute remains of class time to take a scheduled quiz.. I honestly have no idea on what he plans on putting in the final next week.
A lot can be said about this teacher. He's quite a bit behind in lectures and is known for giving quizzes literally at the last minute[Seriously with 1 minute left]. His lectures will be carved into your brain which helps a lot however only 60% of the stuff he lectures is on the test and the other 40% needs to be read on your own via textbook.
Not exaggerating when I say this is the worst professor I've had. At first he seemed like a nice guy, but then he was always late, you can't understand his accent, and its impossible to learn from his lectures. He does not make sense, and is very inconsiderate by giving tests with 3 minutes left in class. I dropped because I learned nothing.
great teacher. has an accent but easy to pick up on. friendly man who is nice to all. very informed and knowledgeable. can even answer off topic questions that may not be a part of lecture. in the end he is overly fair. highly suggest Idoui. Would have to try to fail this class. may appear that he has a negative outlook. listen, the truth hurts!
After understanding his thick accent, it becomes clear how intelligent he is. He is very passionate about the world in general. If you skim the book chapter before class, you sound like a professional and he will love you. participation helps the class move along.
he is very good at explaining topics that will be on the tests. he even gives you study guides of what will be on the test. he had us write 1 essay that was worth 2 tests and he lets you look at examples of A papers. easy class if you do the study guides.
First let me say I really like Prof I as a person. Unfortunately he's not a very good teacher. He comes in late and gives quizzes at the very end of class. His lectures are boring and he will go over a concept 5 times before moving on. The work and quizzes are easy so take this class for an easy A if you aren't easily bored.
He always comes in to class late, and will spend about 15 minutes checking attendance. The way he explains a simple concept or theory becomes difficult if you listen to him. It's easier if you just stick to whatever the textbook says. He always assigns tests and quizzes at the very last minute of class too.
He is very unorganized, waited till litterally the last minute of class for tests and quizzes. We are supposed to be takig the final right now but he is busy getting the scores of the first test because he did not document them. He lost my essay, never wrote down a score or aynthing. His rambling is very annoying and boring. Nice person though
Professor Bachir Idoui is a great teacher . He explained the topic in class in a way that was easily understood. As long as you show up to class, take notes and pay attention you'll do great. he gives 7 quizzes and 3 testes. I would recommend it . I got a B.
First off, yes he has a thick accent, but you get used to it very quickly. As far as the class, pay attention to lectures and take copious notes, I can honestly say the only chapter I read in the book was the first. Don't be afraid to participate, and use the test reviews he hands out and you will do fine, I ended with the high grade in the class
I sat in the back and played Pokemon and the Legend of Zelda nearly every class period and still came out with an A. This guy is quite a character and his tests are easy, but I learned a lot from his class. He does, however, often lose control of the class dynamic and things get crazy. Overall, super nice, easy grader.
Professor Idoui is very knowledgable on his subject and cares about sociology. If you study and attend every class you should be fine.
Difficult to understand due to accent, but if you pay attention, you will be fine. Only homework was a paper. Go to class, study the chapter outlines and study guides and you will do well. A few quizzes and lowest score dropped. Final not cumulative. Participate in lecture with questions and comments; he likes lecturing in a conversation form
seriously the worst teacher I've ever had. I've had annoying teachers I've had hard teachers but I've never had the worst teacher and he's it. He's very unorganized with his notes so hard to understand! Can never contact him ! Emails bounce back ! I even called 2ice and never got back to me! He's just the WORST seriously! Save ur money and time!!!!
He's an amazing Professor, He's there for you if you need help or have questions.
It's really easy. Read the chapter ahead of time, answer questions in class, get an A. Too lazy to read ahead in college? Drop out and work for your dad. You're not ready.
Mr. Idoui is an intelligent professor who unfortunately does not teach a class well. While he knows sociology, he does not know how to explain the subjects to the students clearly. There is little to no homework aside from reading and an essay. This is the class you can read the book at home and play gameboy in class and still get an A+
Professor Idoui is a nice guy with knowledge of Sociology. His lectures can seem disorganized but if you show up and complete the readings, you should get an A... Or will you? Keep your tests, quizzes, and papers because mistakes have been made. One student received the wrong quiz grade, and I unfortunately was given an incorrect final grade.
This professor is intelligent re. his field, but doesn't understand how to lecture or teach, for that matter. He drags on and on and bores students, has no control of his class, and goes off on unintelligible and irrelevant tangents. I almost feel guilty rating him so lowly, then I remember that I have to go to his class again and I don't feel bad.
Mr Idoui is a great professor, however he does lack time management skills. His applications of sociology are very relative and help to retain the information. He is a well of knowledge, but often takes up too much time recapping previous material. Read the book, show up and participate and you'll get an A. Don't take his "stories" for granted!
Unorganized. Does not follow the syllabus.
Quizzes are all based off of lectures. His lectures are interesting. He isnt bad at all. Would definitely take this professor again.
He does not post grades ever so you wont know what you have in the class. Does not give homework. Easy A. Super disorganized. doesnt explain anything. never grades anything. very boring class. you wont learn anything, I would have given him a zero, but i cant
Very passionate about what hes teaching and enjoys teaching the subject. He gives very good study guides before each exam, go through them and youll have no problem doing well.
He takes forever to teach lectures and goes on and on forever. Insanely boring class. Never tells you your grade.
He was always behind on assignments that were in the syllabus, didn't give enough time for quizzes and tests, and didn't give the class a lot of chances to speak
Very easy class. Gives a study guide for everything. Study guides are exactly like the test plus some of the lecture. He's very forgetful and gets carried away off topic but this class is an easy A. One movie essay that was really easy. 3 test and 7 quizzes. Participation kinda matters but he's a really nice person and very passionate.
This class was the hardest thing ever, The professor didn't teach well, he kept dragging on the lectures, didn't know how to explain properly, It appeared like he didn't prepare for his lectures, didn't give time to discuss because he would talk the whole time, didn't give enough time for test. overall didn't learn anything wouldn't take this class
Never again. He gives his students ZERO access to see canvas for grades, due or upcoming assignments. The entire class time he is talking and drifting so off topic that I eventually become lost causing me to leave early. He is a nice guy but his teaching methods are outdated and boring. To be completely honest, I learned nothing in this class.
Bachir is a very passionate about sociology. He may go off on tangents, but he genuinely cares. Participate in class and it will go by a lot faster and you will retain the information. Took during intersession, 2 exams plus the final. 6 quizzes, lowest one dropped. One writing assignment, but he even lets you look at examples of A papers.
Prof. Bashir is very passionate about Sociology. He may go off on a tangent but he means well. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Reading the chapters is a must, he likes to discuss the material as a class. Tests and quizzes are easy, outlines and study guides provided. Lowest quiz dropped. 1 quiz is extra credit. 1 movie essay.
The Professor is very much Into what he teaches, pay attention. take good notes and you will be fine. I enjoyed my time in his class and I learned a lot from him.
This class isnt that bad however the workload can become overbearing. He does give you a lengthy amount of homework. He does know sociology and its almost like he expects you to know it to his understanding. Its not an easy A but its not a failing grade class neither. You should be fine as long as you do the work and follow his directions.
8 week online section, the professor teaches multiple sections, he would mix up the deadlines for tests. Very easy teacher, offers extra credit, responds to emails. Overall an easy A, but there is a lot of participation. 8 discussion board (respond to 2 students), 8 written assignments, 4 tests, 7 quizzes, 1 movie essay.
A lot of reading and teaching yourself. If you're okay with that then I recommend him, if you do better with lectures, I do not.
This professor means well and wants you to pass, but he is not very organized, which is a bit stressful from a students end. The class itself is not necessarily hard. As long as you listen to his boring lectures, you'll do fine. He is also very lenient on letting you do late/missing work, but I am sure there are better options of professors tbh.
Prof. Bachir is passionate about the subject, but can be a bit disorganized at times. The workload is manageable if you stay on top of the readings and participate in class. I found Unstuckstudy helpful for quick study prep. Overall, an interesting class if you're willing to put in the effort.
Super nice guy, but extremely disorganized. My class only met once a week, and he showed up at least 10 minutes late every class for the entire semester. Not only did he show up late, but he also kept us in class longer because he would start talking and couldn't stop. The class was also entirely lectures, so if that's not your thin,g don't take it
