His class is a piece of cake. He is a really easy to understand teacher and is very flexible as well. You have to pass this class this is no way you can fail!

Foreign guy obvious by the name of course but not too bad. He doesn't seem to teach, more just do examples on the board. Sometimes a little hard to understand because of his accent. Tests are open book. (Hint: Tests are the even problems in book!!!)

Contrary to other comments, his class was a sinch. He's not a stickler for homework, and grades test's so easily. Sure he has personal problems, but he is so smart, and really ammusing to listen too. I really liked him, and his theories. He's just so smart, that it is hard for him to teach our college level math. He's like a rocket scientist!

I had a fantastic time in his class this summer 2006. As a working student, I have had the challenge of taking many night classes. I can honestly say that Dr. Bala has done the best job of any of my teachers of keeping the energy alive and the students intrigued. I feel that I have learned more in this class than I did in my last Semester.

DR. RAMASWAMY IS AN EXCELLENT MATH TEACHER. ALTHOUGH I TOOK MATH 110 FOR EVENTUAL TRANSFER, HE HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST CLEAR MATH TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. Dr. Bala Ramaswamy is one of the best math teacher I have ever had in my life. He teaches very well and explains many different ways if we do not understand. I recommend him to any one who wants to learn math very well. He is a great teacher and a person.

This class was an easy A over summer. Although, his teaching habits did not really help me learn. His lectures are over heads from the book (which I can read myself!) but he does do a lot of helpful problems before assigning homework. He talks too fast and it took me a few weeks to understand his accent anyway.

Teacher was a really nice guy and really likes to teach. He writes really fast and covers the board as he writes so be sure to do all of the homework and study as much as possible on your own or you will get lost. If math isn't your thing, don't worry, you will not fail! Just give it a solid effort and he will pass you right along.

This is one of the finest courses I have ever taken. Dr. Ramaswamy was extremely well prepared and demonstrated deep knowledge of the subject. His lectures were very well organized and very clear. He arrived at class early and enthusiastically taught the whole period, always willing to remain to clear up questions. He is very commited to teaching.

Professor Ramaswamy has presented an excellent and comprehensive course in Algebra. His knowledge of Math combined with his teching style made this class enjoyable on a daily basis. He provides his students with useful tricks and tips that help us to solve problems more quickly and lead to a better understanding of mathematics. Insanely knowledgeable. Very proud of the universities he has taught at, ESPECIALLY Rice. Can be a bit unpredictable on the exams, but don't worry about it. He grades very easy. Show up to each meeting, take good notes, and don't miss any exams, and you are GUARANTEED a C at least. He was notorious at SDSU for not failing enough students.

Nice guy!! Tells you exactly what to study for the tests. He's crazy smart so pay attention because sometimes he goes fast. Read the text before you come to class and you'll be fine. He wants everyone to pass so he'll help you however he can. He also gives extra credit on the exams. I would absolutely take one of his classes again!

I found Dr.Ramaswamy to be a very educated inspiring man. He asks students many times if they understand the material, and will take the time to explain the matieral again, With hard work and determination you will get the grade you deserve. I enjoyed how open he was with the class about his life, to get a better connection with his students.

He moves through the material very quickly, but if you pay attention you should be fine. So long as you show up and do the work, you'll pass. If you participate, it helps as well. The class itself wasn't too difficult so long as you showed up and paid attention.

He taught us Prealgebra very well. He showed us many different ways to solve some of the problems and explained which one is easy and faster to do. He loves the subject that he teaches. He never gave us any math anxiety. He is a cool teacher and a great person. He is one of the best math teacher I had in my life.

All I have to say about Professor Ramaswamy is that he was helpful. Of course you have to ask and show interest in learning the stuff if you are having a hard time like I did. As long as he sees you attend class and turn in the hw he will help you. If you are not willing to put little effort then you shouldn't even be in college in the first place.

Not just a great teacher, but a great person. He's the only math teacher at palomar worth a grain of salt, doesn't care much about letter grades, just try's to make sure you understand everything you need to understand and keep going with math. I took Bala's class a few years ago. This guy is the real deal, I don't know what these nuckleheads below me are whining about. Yeah, you'll do lots of a math problems, whhhaaa it's a math class for gods sake. There is one thing you won't have to worry about, and that is failing. Theres no pressure in this class, and he really cares about people.

I was unsure of him in the beginning but he turned out to be a really great professor! He is a Dr. of Mechanical Engineering (I think) so he is extremely smart and just as kind. He is such a nice man and will help you with whatever you need! The homework is tedious if you leave it for the last minute, but he is a very gracious grader so its fine!

I took this class a year ago and thanks for all the hard work that Dr. Ramaswamy put into this calculus course. I really enjoyed it and learned a great deal. He explained even the more difficult concepts in a claer fashion. Tests were very reasonable, and at te same time challenging to demonstrate our knowledge of important concepts.

Very thorough and very clear. Calculus is a hard subject but he makes it easier to learn. Has no problem with reviewing material from previous levels of math to clarify whats going on in Calculus. Go to class, take notes, do the homework and you will get an A.

Take Calc w/ this prof. And use calcchat.com! After not having a math class for about 7 years I was a bit worried about understanding new concepts. Lucky enough Dr. Ramaswamy would always explain the rules and why they were that way. Having a teacher that is actually willing to teach is priceless. They are teachers at Palomar that will try and teach via YouTube or by some other means, that is not an issue here. Good math teacher. Assigns a large amount of homework (and it counts toward your grade), but assigns it all on the first day of class, and each set is due on exam day. Custom makes his tests, so no weird numbers or trick answers. Lectures move very fast. Would definitely take again.

He is amazing! He actually listens to students. When we need a break or an extra study session he does it. When the class is done and ready to go home, he comprises. Amazing. The best math teacher I have ever had. I actually feel confident I will pass a math class for the first time in my college career.

It's math, which for most is hard, I know it is for me. But professor Ramaswamy really cares about his students. He will answer any questions you have and work out any problem on the board, as long as you ask. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and truly wants every student to be successful. Show him respect and he will show you the same.

I was worried about this class since I'm not good at math at all. Business for Calc isn't easy but he is one of the nicest teachers and really goes over the problems. It's a hard class but he simply is the best teacher. Take this class because you won't regret it.

I'm a Pre-Nursing student who was absolutely terrified of taking math, my anxiety was so high that I took all my science prerequisites prior to Math 60. After the first week of class I realized there was nothing to be anxious about Professor Bala goes above and beyond to help each individual student succeed, I would most definitely take him again.

Had 4 exams and all of them were pretty straightforward and as long as you finish the homework that he assigns, you will feel the exams easy. Definitely recommend him.

After our first Zoom meeting, Prof. Bala eased worries because he made it clear that he wants you to pass & succeed & will make sure that you do well if you put in the work. A very great professor who loves math. Will explain new material about 3 times in order for you to understand it. Easy to ask for help with any questions. There are 3 tests and 1 final exam, and 4 homeworks (7ish sections, 6ish problems each section). Tests do run on the heavy side, (time consuming problems) but that is the nature of Calculus.

Guy knows his stuff, dealt with some tough tests. All homework must be done- real shocker, it's a math class. I was freaking out finals week and he was cool enough to talk me off a ledge and focus. Make sure to do your homework and don't be afraid to find a tutor if you feel like you're falling behind.

I took class online during COVID. I took math 130 before and I failed. This time it was the teaching style that was super easy to understand. He explains the problems in detail and easy to follow. The test are exactly like the hw, straight forward and easy to understand. I WOULD highly recommend taking any math class WITH BALA!!

Just finished his class for the Summer session during COVID. Homework is a lot but will help you in the long run for the tests. His lectures are okay, but you need to buy the book to understand the material. His exams are challenging and he will make you work for your grade. Great professor and very lenient.

I needed to take this class for credit, and I had always struggled with math classes, however, Professor Bala was really nice and gave lots of opportunities to do good on the homework and quizzes. He uploaded his lectures and explained the subject matter well. There was homework for each section but it was not overkill. Would definitely take again!

The class consisted of 5 exams, 1 final, and 5 hw assignments which were all manageable. The class itself can be a little challenging but his lectures are very detailed. amazing! im grateful that i had the honor of taking one of prof. balas class. the material itself is challenging but he made sure he did everything he can to make the class more manageable, and he did! pre-recorded lectures, moderate amount of homework (which he gave plenty of time for us to complete) and over 24hrs to complete exams!

Professor Ramaswamy was a very sweet professor. He cares a lot about his students & offers help if needed. The only homework are the checkpoint problems, so around 4-10 problems per section. Tests are straight forward & he gives you a whole day to complete (sometimes longer). The class takes work as it is a math class & its not meant to be easy!

The textbook that was used for his course was very helpful. I think he really cared about the students being able to learn and you would get results if you focused on learning.

I would definitely recommend taking this professor for any math class you can! He is super helpful and grades very fairly! There is minimum homework, only 4-9 questions each homework assignment. There is only 4 tests, including a final, and he grades very fairly and not very strictly. He is a professor that really wants you to pass and cares!

For a college level calculus class, Prof Ramaswamy does a great job teaching the material online. As long as you don't procrastinate, and manage your time you shouldn't have an issue passing the class. He also gives more than enough time for each exam to make sure everyone can finish it. He replies to any questions or concerns very quickly!

Math is difficult for most of us especially during the pandemic online learning. Luckily Professor Bala made very good teaching videos and was quick to response to questions/emails. As long as you do all the homework and watch his teaching videos you should do well in his class. I highly recommend his class and would like to join his next Calculus.

I enjoyed taking Calculus with Bala! It is a harder class with difficult material, but if you do the homework and study the textbook, you should be fine! You have homework due for each module at the same time of the test so theres no busy work. Do the homework!!

I was struggling learning the material but not because of the professor's way of teaching, or exams. It was because math is not my strongest subject. As long as you reach out to him in a polite way, he is willing to accommodate your needs. I am a DSPS student and reached out to him with my accommodations and asked for extra help which he provided.

This was my first time taking Calc or any math to this degree and I had already dropped one of my other Calc classes and found Mr. Ramaswamys by chance. But this was a blessing in disguise because I had never met another teacher who was as generous as he was when administering his tests along side his grading as well! Would 100% take again!

Professor Bala cares immensely about his students. I took this course over summer and It wasnt easy, but the Professor does everything in his power to make sure you succeed. We were given a multiple days to complete each exam. He is also accommodating if you have a legitimate reason. The class isnt easy, but if you try you will do well.

Hands down Best professor out there. Homework is in the book. Videos are awesome and clear. Very caring and inspirattional. Bust your but off and you can earn extra credit. Take his class you wont regret it.

Prof Ramaswamy is a great teacher. He has clear and concise lecture videos uploaded for each section and leaves it up to the student to get the work done at their own pace. There are chapter tests at the end of each the month that he gives ample amount of time to complete and submit. If you need help, he is more than willing to accommodate.

I took a summer online class with Professor Ramaswamy and it was challenging but also fun. He gives us over a full day to take the exams which is much needed as I would often spend 6 hours or more on each one. His videos are easy to follow but get distorted sometimes. Overall it was great!

I really liked the Lectures. They were not too long. Teacher was amazing explaining every concepts by using a lot of examples from the Textbook. Tests were ok, not too hard and not too easy. In this class you need to pay attention. He wants you to be successful and grades all the test very fairly. The only problem I had was how long the tests were since they were very time consuming. Overall I liked this class and I found the YouTube videos he linked to be a little easier to follow then the lectures but both help a lot

Bala's class is heavy on content, but with unstuck ai and the free textbook, you can stay on top of it. Attend lectures, do homework, and you'll do well. Not the easiest, but worthwhile.

Professor Bala has honestly been one of the best math professors I've taken here at Palomar. Its really hard to find a good math Teacher here that is willing to actually work with you/wants you to pass there class! There can be of course a decent load of work involved but as long as you stay on top with it and good communication, you'll do Great!

He has an accent but it's not hard to understand him and he also is aware of it too (assuming people have picked on him about it).
