Very nice smart professor. Moves through material fast but is always willing to put in the extra time to make sure you understand it.

He is a great professor! He breaks each problem down into step by step. He is hard to understand at first but you get used to his accent. He gives away a ton of free points just for showing up to class! Gave a take home exam to replace an exam for the semester so that is a 100! I would highly recommend him!

Well, he's not really that bad. His accent takes a little getting used to but you eventually get used to it. He's pretty bad at time-management in my opinion and also has a tendency to over-explain things which can be a bit frustrating. Overall, i didn't mind him but i wont take him again if i had a better option.

Bala is super super nice. His accent is not bad at all. He really tries to help students. He just acts like he doesn't know the content sometimes, which doesn't help me. Overall, take him because he'll make sure you understand the stuff!

Bala is a nice teacher. He used webassign for homework, gave 10 quizzes, 1 group project, 2 exams, 1 take home and a final exam. They are doable if you attend his class regularly. He dropped one of the lowest scores in the exams and two lowest scores in the quizzes. If you ask for help, he will definitely help you. TAKE HIM! YOU will learn a lot.

Calc 1 is a difficult math for me which I took it two times. I understood the concepts better with Bala than my previous professor. I passed this course with B. Bala is a good teacher and very helpful guy if you approach him.

Dr. Bala is such a great professor. I didn't have a hard time understanding his accent. He is a really easy grader and truly wants to see everyone do well. If you have a question, he's more than happy to answer it. Sometimes he gets a little scatter brained, but overall, I really liked his class. You do have to purchase a $30 math program.

He is extremely funny and always makes sure that every student understands the material. He is from India, so he has an accent that makes some words a little hard to understand, but he speaks very good English. He is by far my favorite teacher and would recommend him to anyone taking math 141 or 143.

Dr. Bala was a great professor. He always had a positive attitude and gave lots of different examples. There were 9 quizzes but he drops 2 of them. The tests were a little hard but not if you study the homeworkquizzes. He cares about his students and is willing to help in office hours other times if you can't make it. I'd recommend him.

Bala is ADORABLE and funny. Love him as a teacher. Expect homework assignments throughout the week and group projects before each of the 3 exams. Exams are not horrible. Come to class, do your homework, study a little and you will pass. Beware of accent, it'll be hard to understand him at first, but a few weeks in and you'll be fine.

Bala is a really nice professor and he really likes to make sure you are understanding the material. Don't even bother getting the textbook because all of the homework is online, its hard to get used to but its also very helpful. Math 141 is generally really easy so depending on the person you could pass without attending but I don't recommend it.

Bala is the best math teacher I've ever had. He is EXTREMELY educated within mathematics, and teaches it in a step by step, very clear way which makes it very easy to learn. Even if you have problems learning it, he is willing to help on the spot. Homework due every week along with a short quiz. 3 Exams within the semester. Would take him again.

He is a fantastic teacher and makes sure you understand the content before moving on. Throws out your two worst quizzes and if you do better on the final then one of your exams he will switch it out. Great professor!

Honestly one of the best math teachers to take. He's an easy grader and he wants you to pass, he will drop your lowest quiz scores and if you get a good score on the exam he will replace your lowest test score with your exam score. He is funny without trying but it takes a minute to get pass the accent, first day I had no clue what he was saying

He is really good at teaching everyone at different levels. If you have questions, he is more than happy to answer them. You have homework online and you usually have two days to do them. A quiz that is five questions every Thursday and a test every couple of weeks. It is a really nice teacher.

Dr. Bala is an amazing teacher. He wants you to learn, and helps you out by tossing your 2 worst quiz grades. You have a few days to complete homework as well, and if you don't understand something, he's more than happy to help you- math actually made sense in his class. Very encouraging too! Wish I could have more professors like him.

Dr. Bala is great. Every class he works through the note sheets given prior and then helps with exam grades and test grades by replacing and throwing out some grades. Attendance isn't mandatory but definitely helps.

Bala is a chill professor because he stresses that attendance is Not mandatory as long as you understand the material. However, you need to be there on days of the quizzes/tests which he usually sends out an email to remind the class (otherwise ask a friend). He struggles pronouncing names sometimes, so don't be offended he's doing his best.

This was actually my second time taking this course because I had failed with a different professor last semester. I had Dr. Bala my freshman year for 141 and loved his style there so I took him for this course as well. He made it an absolute breeze because he is more than willing to help. Easy quiz every week but 2 are dropped. Seriously the best

Professor Bala is a funny teacher that encourages participation. He only gives three exams including the final but if you do the weekly homework and study for the short quizzes, you'll do fine. He is always smiling and in a happy mood about teaching math. He enjoys adding in jokes and stories that pertain to the topics being discussed.

Bala is an amazing math professor! I took him for Math 141 and passed very easily, Math 143 is a little more difficult, but he is super available and willing to help anyone who is struggling. He gives opportunities for extra credit, and has a great sense of humor to make math more fun for those, like me, who hate math in general. Strongly recommend

His class is pretty easy, but tests are a little hard. He likes to pull questions straight from the homework and class workwhich there is a lot of homework each day. He always encourages people to ask questions and come see him during office hours. He's a pretty chill dude

Bala was a good professor. Has a thick accent but he explains everything pretty well and offers lots of examples. The material is pretty easy. Weekly quizzes, 3 exams and a final but if you show up to class and study, its easy to get an A.

the most dad-like professor i've ever had. i failed the class the first time with a different professor and he really helped me make sure i succeeded in the class this time around, even given the circumstances. he's a good guy that actually cares about his students.

Cool professor. To be honest, I hate math but I will hope to take him again for my next math credit! If you pay attention despite his slight accent, it isn't hard! He also is very willing to take time outside class to make sure you know what he is teaching if you do not understand it.

You're a real G Bala. Clearly lays out all material required to complete your assignments in the notes. Always available during his office hours and interacts kindly. The only downside is that some homework questions could be a little confusing.

Bala was a great choice for this class, he has a bit of an accent but you will get used to is fast. He assigns about 1 homework assignment per week which were relatively easy. He makes reviews for tests but the tests usually didn't match the reviews. He assigns 3 or 4 quizzes relatively easy also just pay attention do the homework and you will pass

Bala knows a lot about math. He will go other notes in class and answer any questions you have. I would recommend him for math139 because every professor in math 139 gives out the same quizzes and exams. homework is online it is hard but you can get extra credit for it if you do it earlier. He can also be really funny.

Overall solid professor imo, the days can be very boring, but paying attention sometimes is a must. The homework does have spotty wording but if you ask him he will help you through it, but you also get extra credit for doing it early. Really easy grader, quizzes are easier than what I have been told in other 139 classes.

Everything is curved to the top students. The course was basic high school trig, so if you took algebra, it's pretty easy. I found it was no problem getting 90%+ before the curve from paying attention, taking notes, and showing up. Taking good notes is key to success as his lecture is him copying his own notes onto the whiteboard.

I really liked Bala. He was very nice to me because I participated in class and got to class a little earlier too. He really does his best to help students understand the content. He does have a slight accent, but wasn't hard to understand him. Also, he canceled class a few times due to some medical things but was very good at catching up.

As long as you consistently show up to class, this class isn't all that hard. He's very good at explaining things and provides guided notes. You have a week to do the homework and there are weekly quizzes that are more practice than anything. He does have an accent, so it may be slightly hard to understand him, but he is super fun!

He's not a great teacher, but he's a nice guy and if you take the time to do the homework, the quizzes will be moderately easy. There's one quiz a week, but he drops three at the end of the semester. Two midterms in person without notes and they're pretty difficult. Before you take this class, make sure you have a good foundation.

Overall a good professor. Videos get snooze worthy but they are worth watching, multiple times if needed. His grading was fair was clear on what you did wrong. Provides correct answers to every assignment and test. He was a bit hard to understand at times because of his accent. I did speak to him about it and he created follow along notes for me.

I loved Bala for quantitative reasoning, he is a great teacher and explains things at different levels if you just ask. He always gave detailed and constructive feedback on quizzes that helped me with exams. Also accommodating w attendance and late work in most situations if need be. I love bala!!

Dr. Bala is a solid professor. He does have a lot of homework, and the lectures can be boring, but he instilled a level of discipline and work ethic in me that I will carry with me for the rest of my college career. There are also 2 midterms with the 2nd one being the hardest. If you do the activities and homework, you will be fine.
