He is HORRIBLE!!! Not helpful at all, very hard exams. No matter how much work you do, it's still not enough. Open notebook tests do not even help. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!! YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!

Straight up, never take this professor, no matter what. NO MATTER WHAT! He does not teach. Problems that appear on the mid terms and final do not really reflect what was done in class. take him if you love teaching yourself calculus and being frustrated with a poor professor.

First of all his accent is horrible, you can't understand what he's saying. Second, he knows a lot by he doesn't know how to teach!!! he's a terrible prof. Not willing to help, gets upset if you ask something and confuses you even more. His tests are open book but it doesn't help you at all. Don't take him!!!

If you need this class to get into the school of business, dont take this professor. He can be a nice guy, but is NOT a good professor. Have a problem...don't you even dare ask a question cause he gets pissed.

WOW! Just simply the worst teacher i ever had, Do Not Take HIM!!! you can barely understand him and when ask for help, he just blows you off and says its in the textbook.....I'm warning you guys, DO NOT TAKE HIM, i rather wait another semester for a good teacher then take him.

He is knowledgeable, but his bad attitude and failing teaching methods make for an awful experience for all but the favored few. He is an angry man who would rather be doing phd research than living his miserable life teaching lowly graduate students(most of whom probably scored 780+ on the math GRE). Find another professor who will respect you!

Awful!...Montclair...what's wrong with the people who hires professors...They should allow REAL EDUCATORS to give classes...Not jerks!

He should not be teaching. He may know math very well, but due to his pathetic english it is impossible to learn from him. He is also quite arrogant and not very helpful at all. If you are already accomplished in math, you can get by enough, but if you are taking his class to learn just forget it and take someone else. YOU WERE WARNED!

The language barrier was rediculous. If I didn't understand something, I would raise my hand and ask, but that got me absolutely no where because he wouldn't understand my question, and I wouldn't understand his answer. You should have to speak understandable english to be a teacher/professor in the U.S. don't you think?

HORRIBLE!!! Not only was his accent terrible, but he also didnt teach. He skipped teaching impotant steps and wasnt willing to explain or help. Quizzes and tests were hard even though some quizzes were group quizzes. HW was easy because it was online and all u have to do is use the practice button until u get ur answer, which helps u learn.DONTTAKE

He doesn't help you when you go for one on one. He is such a bad teacher! Don't take him. The book is barely used in his class. He sucks. Run away!

I dropped this guy's class because I couldn't understand a word he said. He wasn't helpful, and expects a lot out of every student. Only take him if he's the last option, I would suggest taking a Calculus teacher who can actually speak english. I hated his class and dropped after attending 3. He sucks!

This guy always answers every question with "I don't know" and refuses to answer any email I sent him. Stay away from him if you can.

No help from the professor. If you ask him a Q, he will make you look stupid. Instead of explaining the question, he will ask you 100 more questions. I had to study everything on my own, the lectures were useless. Killed the whole desire to come to his office hours. Don't cooperate with students. So far, the worse professor I ever had.

Funny guy, but sometimes his comments are rude. Its hard to understand him, but if you read the chapters than you can catch on. Gives hw and quizzes, which are exactly from the hw. Exams are a little tricky but he gives enough material to study for. You need to study just like for every math class. I wouldn't take him again unless I had to.

Did not teach me anything about abstract algebra. Professor Song is hard to understand, and was not very willing to answer questions about the material. Material is confusing and you will have to teach it to yourself.

(This is also AMAT240) I have no idea how the semester isn't over yet and I already want to leave. I understand the material, but if you run out of time to upload your work as a PDF you fail it. That's it. I'm glad people had good experiences with him, but so far it has been abysmal. Just change the quiz upload method and everything will be fine.

You have a better chance at learning Spanish watching Dora the Explorer than you do at learning this subject by this professor. You cannot understand a word he says because he has the heaviest accent I have ever heard in the world. You WILL fall asleep in his class since you can't understand him. Have better chance curing cancer.

The professor barely knows English so good luck if you aren't familiar with Chinese or a thick Chinese accent. He cannot pronounce far too many words to be working in this profession. His lectures are lackluster and minimal at best. He does not teach in an effective manner so get ready to read your textbook. Also he grades your grammar in the HW...

The lectures are difficult to understand due to his poor English skills. He assigns a lot of homework, but it is not helpful in preparing for exams. He is also a tough grader who rarely gives partial credit. The only way to learn in this class is from the textbook, which is also difficult to understand. Avoid this professor if you can.

He reads off of the slides and if you ask for help he will not help that much and will tell you to go try alone... He has a grader that grades so harsh and also checks the grammer. You need to study alone for this class to pass. The professor has a heavy accent and it's sometimes hard to understand what he is saying.

This professor is not the best! In fact he is the worst I've seen this far at MSU. His work load is not even the issue. He keeps assuming things that are not true about students. He could be racist and is willing to report you for something you never did. DO NOT TAKE IF THERE IS ANOTHER OPTION.

His powerpoint are read verbatim, with little to no practice/help on any actual problems or applications of what's being taught.

heavy accent, hard to understand, and mocks students. issues with downloading Python with his instructions refused to give help, called students handsome, calls pairs of numbers as boyfriends having many girlfriends; asked a question for review, which he encouraged, and YELLED at me twice for saying his powerpoint wasnt the same as our review.

Thick accent. Mocks you if you ask questions. Doesn't give extensions. Strict about attendance even though you learn nothing from his lectures cuz of his accent. Two chapters of homework every week. BRUTAL grader; you lose points for minor mistakes (even if the answer and work is correct). The worst part: he's the only AMAT240 professor

This professor has really bad English, doesn't respect personal space, doesn't take time to teach you, and is disrespectful. He just reads off slides, insults you, and while I was taking any type of quiz or test gets in my personal space to the point I can feel his breath on my ear. I get he is just making sure no one is cheating but that is horrid

Don't take this professor. His accent is very heavy which in turn makes the class and subjects he teaches inherently difficult to follow. He belittles and makes fun of you if you don't understand and ask to explain, which discourages others from asking questions. Learn AMAT 240 anywhere else for the sake of your mental health.

I'm writing this review 5 years after being graduated from MSU. In my 6 years of being a math student, I have never EVER had a professor this bad in my entire life. Every single time I asked for help, he would tell me a vague explanation. Extremely thick accent, you need to listen up and attend every class. He is NO HELP. Please do not take him.

You'll study through YouTube, textbook, and other resources, but not through him or his slides. All his slides contain errors and confusing. His accent is the worst, and when you ask him to repeat, he becomes angry and mumbles. He's a tough grader and will accuse you of cheating if you use different methods from his. Doesn't respect personal space.
